Electric Shades of Grey (The Psychedelic Priest, 1971/2001)
"You know, all my life I've had people running my life for me, and I'm sick and tired of it. First it was my mother. Then I wasted eleven years of my life. Just who do you think you are anyway?"

Dude. Ronnie Radke needs to stop beefing over Motionless in White’s homage to horror. It’s a bit rich to be accusing them of being unoriginal and stealing ideas when one of their new hit songs is a “reimagined” version of Last Resort by Papa Roach.
Sillier to me is that Escape the Fate (which Radke started before going to prison) listed Papa Roach as an inspiration, and both Papa Roach and now Falling in Reverse are basically the same rap core glam rock genres.
All music is inspired; all art is inspired.
But what really gets to me is the fact that Last Resort is based off of the same E minor blues scale that Dimebag Darrell used when he wrote Cowboys From Hell, that Voodoo Child from Jimi Hendrix, that Road Trippin’ by Red Hot Chili Peppers, that Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, that Livin’ on a Prayer by Bon Jovi, Enter fucking Sandman by Metallica, I Was Made for Lovin’ You by KISS, Paranoid by Black Sabbath, Electric Eye by Judas Priest used when writing these songs!
Yeah, Cowboys From Hell at an octave lower and a different tempo is basically Last Resort. You can, with a near seamless transition on piano shift from Amazing Grace to the Mario Theme Song.
Without Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Metallic, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Stevie Wonder, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Van Halen, Merle Haggard, we wouldn’t have Pantera, who inspired Nightwish. Without those bands who were inspired, and built off of bands from the 20s through 70s, we wouldn’t have Papa Roach, or Falling In Reverse.
Not just that, but many bands influence each other. Black Sabbath is the band that got Dimebag interested in guitar, who then inspired Black Sabbath on more modern methods of rock music.
And that’s the cycle. That nonlinear development got us Papa Roach, who were then “reimagined” by Falling in Reverse.
So, Ronnie needs to stop throwing shade at a band that, by all measures, is doing the same thing they every other music artist has done since the age of music arrived.
JFC.

Friday, November 15: Rob Halford, "Light Comes Out of Black"
R.I.P. Diamond/Dimebag Darrell Abbott (1966-2004), Vinnie Paul Abbott (1964-2018)
Rob Halford made a point of keeping his ear to the ground and engaging with the metal landscape beyond the confines of Judas Priest, so when he found himself on his own and being commissioned to deliver something for a movie soundtrack it was natural instinct to connect with a fast-ascending Pantera. And thus “Light Comes Out of Black” was born, and though it was a solo Halford composition the force and smothering groove of Pantera was unmistakable- Dime, Vinnie and Rex delivered their trademark crunch over a bulldozer of a track while Rob wailed with conviction. The track illustrated two things at once: Priest was a foundational influence on Pantera even if they were taking metal to new heights during the ‘90s, and Halford was ready and able to adjust his sound and approach to a new era. “Light Comes Out of Black” was a logical precursor to what Halford would soon deliver with Fight, and showed he was game to engage with the changing scene even though he wasn’t quite able to live up to its promise.

ok but
former priest Val meeting cult leader priest Darrell and (kinda) cult leader Adam
also maybe Sol's Priest even though he still is a mystery
the brain worms are squirming
So I'll say outright, he hates cults. Finds them pathetic ESPECIALLY if they claim to follow the same God as him. 10/10 would spit in Darrell's face and call him a blasphemist or a heretic. Would probably do it to normal Darrell too.
For Adam, I'm not entirely sure what that guy preaches but same kinda story.
Now PRIEST?? Honestly? Val isn't touchin it. He's getting the "ick" vibe and leaving even if that pretty-voiced fucker offers him his fangs back.
Val back in his preacher days was actually a really nice person, served his community, and actually practiced what he preached, the whole works. It's why the town's betrayal of him hurts him so deeply. Valentine is actually meant to be a good guy or at least an anti-hero of sorts.

Sharing with you a lil thot✨️I had on the way to work:
Catholic Priest!Darrell who gets sent to The Varican to train as an exorcist. His mentor is a middle-aged priest (no name yet) and one of the church's most accomplished exorcist. He's also a certified hunk, which is very important.
So, Darrell spends months under his tutelage, and he (a closet bi) starts to struggle with his ... ehem urges.
Doesn't help that Older!Exorcist has very dubious morals/approach to issues of the flesh (his own way of coping with the nature of his work).
Anyway.
Main conflict is these two closeted priests secretly wanting to explore each other's bodies and finally finding the opportunity to, once Older!Exorcist gets maybe possessed by an incubus.

Diane Sawyer interviews Mel Gibson about The Passion of the Christ in 2004. Sawyer's husband was Mike Nichols, the overrated Jewish director who made lots of crap movies. I'm sure this Jewish family link colored her coverage big time.
The media is controlled by people who are obscenely pro-Jewish, and they hire accordingly. The dingbat Sawyer squints in bewilderment at Gibson explaining basic Christian teaching.
Lightweight "interfaith scholars" like Dr. Amy-Jill Levine (Jewish), pro-Israel Dr. Darrell Bock, and Nostra Aetate enthusiast Dr. Phillip Cunningham lie about Christian teaching on the Jews, claiming that the curse on the Jews no longer exists. This is a lie. A Jew is cursed so long as he remains a Jew. To remove the curse necessitates sincere conversion to Christianity.
The former priest John Dominic Crossan whines about the extreme brutality of the movie. And the criminal Abraham Foxman appears to spread his usual BS, as if he has any moral authority. Not one real Christian was called upon to testify to the biblical accuracy of Gibson's movie.
Even with a stacked deck against him, and the inanity of Diane Sawyer, Gibson does quite well. The Passion of the Christ was not a controversial movie. "Controversial" suggests that people are divided about something roughly 50/50. Only a small percentage of people were bothered by the movie. But this small group is the de facto ruling elite and they detest authentic Christianity, for they know that it represents a counter-establishment that has the potential to unseat them.
