Aw yis, I’ve never thoroughly talked these two out so here we go~

How did they they meet?

Jioro signed up for the Vigil who’d agreed to give her a grant to study and dismantle the rogue Steam Creatures after Scarlet was defeated. Laranthir is the Vigil member who would regularly check in on her and pick up her reports for her sponsor.

Who developed romantic feelings first?

Laranthir did. Jioro was pretty impersonal at first but over the course of several visits he got to see a bit of her enthusiasm for her work under her social awkwardness. She’s incredibly kind and smart.

Who is their biggest “shipper?”

Roanna I think? I’d have to double check with @ascalonianpicnic​ but I think she’s a bigger supporter than Aqun by a bit just due to more outward enthusiasm and not being a hardass.

When did they have their first kiss and under what circumstances?

The two were saying goodbye after their second date, and before Jioro stood up and out of reach after a hug Laranthir took the chance to give her a quick kiss.

Who confessed their feelings first?

Laranthir, who decided one day to just take the chance, and got lucky that Jioro did feel the same way.

What was their first official date?

Just a simple dinner date. The two stuck to a small town since Jioro hates busy cities, and stopped in at a local pub for some nice warm food in the mountains.

How do they feel about double dates/group dates?

It’s a hard no for Jioro. Laranthir wouldn’t mind, but respects her comfort levels.

What do they do in their down time?

When Laranthir has a break from work he likes to visit Jioro’s workshop and simply watch her go about her day. He usually brings her lunch or takes her out for a meal when she’s done for the day too.

What was the first meeting of parents as an official couple like?

Laranthir met both her real and her sort-of parents. Meeting her biological parents was great, they got along splendidly. Meeting hr sort-of parents, Aqun and Roanna, was more stressful simply because Aqun is so picky about who she likes. But it went smoothly all the same.

What was their first fight over and how did they get past it?

It was over something small, when they’d both been tired and stressed from work. After a little time alone the two of them settled down and sorted it out no problem.

Which one is more easily made jealous?

Jioro would be. But neither is too easily jealous since they both know they come first for each other.

What is their favourite thing to get to eat?

Anything that’s a big meal they can split~

Who’s the cuddly one? What their favourite cuddling position?

Laranthir is! He loves when Jioro holds him since he only comes up to her stomach.

Are they hand holders?

They definitely are.

How long do they wait before sleeping together for the first time? What’s the circumstances?

It’s a good month or so before they do, Jioro moves slow. One night after dinner Laranthir asks her to spend the night and she agrees.

What’s the worst first they’ve ever gotten into?

Laranthir does the shopping and they both cook!

Laranthir is by a landslide (which is what Jioro’s workshop looks like it’s been through)

Years down the line Laranthir would, and Jioro would say yes.

Do they have joined Bachelor/Bacheloette parties or separate?

Jioro wouldn’t have a bachelorette party but Laranthir would have a small bachelor party.

Who is the best man/maid of honour? Any other groomsmen or bridesmaids?

Aqun and Roanna would be Hioro’s maids of honour. Laranthir would have his closest friends on his side (who idk yet oops)

Big Ceremony or Small?

The two would take a vacation to a nice secluded location in the mountains for a week or so.

No children, Jioro doesn’t want any!

asdfghjl Joko 100%. She’s got weird mixed feelings about him, and Dedre in general (to me) isn’t fully Dreamer.

I count the canon story in the game as more of a “Au if Dedre was good” sort of thing, because in reality she’s Nightmare Court. But her morals still stand more with the corrupted things in life. So she’d totally wanna be pals with Joko.

3. A class you’re awful at playing

mesmer..... i can’t completely figure out how to play it efficiently, rip. i just have such a thing for the pretty, sparkly, shiny particle effects, so i WANNA play mesmer, but IDK i just suck at it. still love the portals though

14. When did you start playing?

originally, when it first came out--five or six years ago, right?--but it was on someone else’s account, and i could only play it when i visited them. i wasn’t super interested in it at the time, so i stopped playing it and then picked it up again just four years ago, and ive been playing ever since!

25. Who do you play with?

a couple people! sometimes haha--i prefer to play alone usually, but i convinced one of my best friends @luxaleigh​ to try it through the free to play feature and right during halloween (that’s how you get em), and she fell in love with it, so we play together a lot. i also play with my mom sometimes because she also plays! but i do like playing with other people i know so hmu if you play and you wanna do dungeons together cuz that shit’s getting harder and harder to solo tbh

29. Something you worked really hard to get.

1. What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do? Hours upon hours. Rhosill was already a very patient person before he trained as a deadeye. He can spend entire days just sitting and waiting, and often fills his time by sitting around taking in his environment, or watching clouds or the stars.

12. How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach? If he can ignore it, he does. If he can’t, he grabs the nearest stick and uses it as a back scratcher. He has used his rifle for this before.

30. Who do they most regret meeting? Rafe and Allea, a couple of norn he met in Hoelbrak when he was young, broke, and between jobs. The three started out as friends, then as partners. Then, Allea went and founded a dragon cult and pulled the other two in as her right hand men, and Rhosill’s life really took a turn for the worse during that.

40. How sensitive are they to their own flaws? Very sensitive. Rhosill is acutely aware of his own flaws, and struggles to see any good in himself around them. His friends have been helping him to see the good parts of himself more, but he’ll never be able to ignore his flaws and faults.

B. What inspired you to create them?In all honesty, I just wanted a big cowboy on a whim. Rhosill grew, both literally and figuratively, from there. He developed pretty slowly over the past couple years until he reached the point he’s at now, and I’m still figuring out new stuff about him all the time.

C. Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?I didn’t even intend for him to have a story at first, but once he did, I knew exactly where he fit into things. It was a quick hop from “I’m gay, let’s give Scarlet a friend and ally” to “first sylvari kicked out of the Grove, just trying to find a place where he fits”

F. What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)?I feel a lot of pride in his growth, and then a lot of pride in my own growth, since some of his unintentionally parallels mine. I also just feel a whole lot of love. Both for him, and from him for the other characters he interacts with.

J. Did you have to manipulate or exclude canon factors to allow them to create their character?Nothing as major as some of my other characters, but I did make him a norn sized sylvari secondborn who worked with Scarlet Briar, so I did have to ignore canon a bit for him.

//woops a little later sorry i had to ruminate on possible facts. Ended up being about early days and magic

-Her fire magic has just always been there. She can’t remember the first time she used it, because there was no real first time.

-The first time she used it against someone though was as a cub. Someone was picking on another and she intervened. And then when it devolved into a fight her magic seemed to gain a mind of its own and she ended up burning the kid she was fighting with.

-after that she was actually appointed a personal mentor (up till now she’d just lived in a communal barracks type deal. it’s pretty out of the ordinary for a cub to be appointed a personal guardian as opposed to just being put into a school warband type thing i think?). Some big war veteran guy who I havent named yet. He wasn’t there to help her control it though he was there to make her tamp it down within her. Trying to get her to focus on being a ‘real’ soldier instead of playing with silly fire. While other cubs were still sparring with one another she was already taking proper lessons and getting bruised up.

“Juvia! Try to cut off his path!”

“Yes, my love!” Juvia replied. She sliced her arm through the air, sending the watery projectiles through the streets and to a nearby stand, where the item crumbled and fell into the street. Unfortunately, Gray and Juvia's target made a sharp turn into an alleyway to avoid the trap.

Gray cursed and tried to pick up his pace as he followed the target into the alley and Juvia tried to find another way to cut them off.

They alleyway was a narrow one, which meant that area magic effects could be more condensed and therefore take up less energy. With a smirk, Gray jumped forward into a handspring. The ground beneath his hand for that moment instantly cooled and spread forward quickly into an icy path.

The target didn't fall too quickly, and it was clear that they'd had some experience in running on ice, but they still faltered and slowed just enough to grant Gray the chance to lunge forward. He tackled the target, arms wrapping around their torso, and Gray twisted before the fall, taking the landing hit for himself.

The target still struggled in his grasp, kicking and trying to use magic of their own to get free. Unfortunately, they relied heavily on their hands for their magic ability, and Gray had them pinned to their sides.

“Let me go! You're not taking me anywhere!” they screamed. Beside the two, boots came to a slipping halt, and Gray looked up to see a rather relieved Juvia. Gray was smiling proudly.

“Let you go? C’mon, kid, you know I'm not dumb. And stop trying to bite me!”

“I'm not going!” the boy shouted. Juvia crouched down and passed a hand through the child’s dark blue hair.

“Silver, the only way for you to feel better is if we go. You're in a lot of pain.”

“No!” Gray laughed.

“It’s not an option.” Carefully, Gray stood up with his son still wrapped in his arms to prevent the ten-year-old from getting away.

“Dad, please!”

“Tell you what - I'll let you go,” he said, and Silver looked up with bright, hopeful eyes, “after we get to the dentist.”

The child slumped in his father’s arms, making him significantly heavy, but Gray stood strong. Their child was a stubborn one, but nothing they couldn't handle. He loosely ice-cuffed the boys hands and slung him over his shoulder.

“Mom!” Silver cried, looking helplessly at Juvia.

“You have a cavity, Silver. Juvia and your father just want to make you feel better.” The child pouted as his parents brought him out of the alley and towards the doctor’s office.

“I’m never eating a piece of candy ever again,” he grumbled, voice muffled against Gray’s back as he surrendered. Gray and Juvia laughed, wholeheartedly doubtful of their son’s statement.

First Realisation of Love

It’s really just a run-of-the-mill sort of day for Imekaari, Io and Lace both don’t have any field missions which means he’s got the day free to work on his own research. He loves days like this, where he can expand on his ever-growing self-taught field. It’s amazing how little research had been done on necrotic healing before he thought to give it a try but he’s but quite the small impressive library on the subject now.

He’s simply adding some small annotations to his most recent notes when suddenly someone walks through the door he’d left open to his study. There’s a soft knock at the doorframe, Imekaari looking up to see a particularly nervous and excited looking Lace in the opening.

Before Imekaari can even ask what they want to talk about Lace blurts out, “I love you!”

There’s a long pause in the room and Imekaari freezes completely. Did...did Lace just say one of the words they requested no one ever say around them...? He stares at them completely dumbstruck until they suddenly speak up again.

“Okay, I’m going to go tell Io now too bye!” They rush their sentence and run off even faster. Oh, so it was a friendship love. Imekaari’s heart rate slows down at the realisation and he smiles to himself at the progress Lace has clearly made.

And then his heart rate picks back up and he sets his head on the desk with a deep sigh. Because in that split moment before finding out it was about friendship he’d realised he loves Lace too.

Twist of Jealousy in Your Gut & the Gasp of Air When You’re Trying Not to Cry

Looking at Bodacc, she really doesn’t look like much. Just your average asura, kind of on the tall and lanky side of things. Her name seems pretty normal, she’s a very accomplished elementalist who focuses primarily on machinery, she’s a very friendly and open person.

The one thing she’s bad at is being an asura. And that’s why she’s once again walking away from a group of asura, trying to hold back her tears until she’s out of sight. The sound of their teasing and jeering follows her all the way to a spot that feels private enough, and she breaks down sobbing.

She doesn’t know why it keeps going like this, she just wants to be a part of the society she’d missed out on. She wants asuran friends to discuss dynamics and synergetics with, she just wants to belong where the rest of them do.

“Hey,” a gravely yet soft voice starts up behind her, “are you doing okay?” Bodacc turns and wipes her eyes quickly, sniffling a bit as she tries to calm down enough to speak to the charr peeking her head around the corner.

“I just...” Bodacc sniffles again and a sob catches in her throat before she can say any more. The charr quickly walks over and picks her up, hugging the asura tight against her fur.

“It’s alright sweet girl. You’ll find better friends one day.” She can feel tears soaking through her fur as Bodacc finally manages to speak around her crying.

“I just want some of them to like me though! Why can’t I be a part of my own culture? Why don’t they like me...?”

The charr holds her tighter and starts carrying her back to where the warband was waiting, everyone hopeful that Bodacc had finally found some asura decent enough to look past her rougher charr-like way of acting. “They don’t know the little genius they’re all missing out on. We’ll keep looking next time we’re near one of their cities.” She gives the other charr a sad shake of her head as they approach. The walk back to camp is a quiet one.

1. What does your character’s name mean?

i am….. a gigantic astronomy nerd; I love space, i love learning about stars, and i have a fondness for named constellations / asterisms. Originally, I fell in love with the name “Eridanus”: In that pretty famous Greek Mythos that pretty much everyone knows (another one of my obsessions), Phaethon begged his father, Helios (God of the Sun who rode a chariot every morning across the sky that would pull the sun into its place), to drive the chariot one morning. Helios allowed it, but Phaethon wasn’t able to fully control the chariot, and the horses went wild; Zeus eventually struck it down, and Phaethon with the chariot fell into the river–the river Eridanus. Here’s a hot pic of the constellation marking this event, right next to my FAVORITE constellation:

The son of the sun god, in his tragic tale, being felled by overconfidence, oversimplifying a massive task, and a much more powerful force to be deeply respected. Really sounds familiar now HUH i REALLY called that one three years aGO

Of course, as soon as I tried typing in “Eridanus” into the character creator, I found out it was already taken SO i retyped “Eridunis” as just a small alteration, and it worked! Also, unlike Eridanus (which I pronounce as “er-i-DA-nus”), I pronounce Eridunis as “er-I-du-nis” which the emphasis on the I if that makes sense. I know that was a long explanation, i’ll try to keep the others shorter, but I LOVE explaining how i got his name, and even then there’s more to it with Arkus next to him.

6. Do they have any hobbies that their lover finds unusual, odd, or otherwise annoying?

UH hm since he’s always traveling, it’s tough to do his usual hobby, which is gardening (especially in the desert), but he’s also a weaponsmith and a jeweler, so I think he takes that with him. He tries crafting items late at night, as like a distraction or a stress reliever, and Arkus has to frustratingly drag him to bed at 1am.

11. What is something that would make your character fly into a rage?

Anything someone else would say that would disrespect Arkus or his authority / integrity / expertise. He’s heard a lot of people, over the years, talk smack about Arkus–mostly because a lot of people don’t really know what Arkus does for the Pact and don’t know how he’s involved with Eridunis–and Eridunis has either overheard or been told about people saying things like, “he’s the Commander’s hype man, and that’s it,” “he’s just here to look pretty,” or if they do know what Arkus does, they might be like, “the Priory obviously doesn’t need him there, so he bums around here,” you know, things like that. Eridunis loses it when he hears things like that or even hears about them–he doesn’t even do diplomacy for these situations either, no “look, you need to respect Arkus because he’s with me; if you respect me, you need to respect him” shit, it’s just curses and punches at that point, immediately. When Trahearne was around, he had to break up a lot of these sorts of fights rip

29. What is one of the most courageous things your character has ever done for a loved one?

I don’t think there’s ever like a pinnacle moment where they’re like separated because Arkus has been taken or something, like no life-threatening thing has ever made Eridunis sacrifice himself for Arkus; however, there was like a…. social-political kerfuffle… Arkus is a Magister for the Priory, but he always wanted to rise to Archon status. Sometime around 1326-ish, like I wanna say around living world season 1, Arkus presented his research and submitted himself for Archon consideration, and when he sat through the ceremony (in which I feel like only one Magister might be named; it’s probably like a yearly thing so it’s incredibly competitive and hard to obtain), surprise, surprise: Someone else gets it over him.

Eridunis is also there, supporting Arkus, and after the reveal, he encourages Arkus to ask Gixx for some clarification, and Gixx sort of vaguely tells him that he hasn’t done much beyond dragon research (which is for the Pact, Gixx argues, NOT for the Priory), he’s always away with the Commander, but he avoids the fact that the research Arkus did submit 1) wasn’t dragon research, and 2) was incredibly thorough in its own way and had nothing to do with the Pact at all, and Arkus felt like Gixx was just hiding something.

To make a long story short (too late), Eridunis takes it upon himself (sort of at Arkus’s warning and behest; he didn’t want either of them to get in trouble) to sniff out a conspiracy and unveil that Gixx was no longer examining submissions for Archon consideration; he had silently given that task to someone else at the Priory. To make matters worse, that person had biases against several Magisters and Archons–and they had a particular bias against Arkus because of his race and his connection to the Pact. The reason I bring this up for this purpose is that the Durmand Priory is a huge organization, and Gixx is incredibly influential. Even if he lost his status from a slip-up like this–ESPECIALLY consider that it was during this time where the Aetherblades were infiltrating organizations and garnering power, imagine the damage that could have done under Gixx’s complacency–he still pulls the strings on a lot of smaller groups affiliated with the Priory. Not only that, but the Pact could risk losing the Priory as a subsidiary group–all because the Commander took the personal issue of Arkus’s “failure” and made it bigger, and public. Eridunis risked his job, his authority, he could have made the Pact suffer a huge loss in manpower, and he knew he was risking it–because Arkus warned him it could happen like that. But he did it anyway because the relief Arkus felt in recognizing that his research was enough–he was enough–for receiving that title made it all completely worth it to Eridunis. and that was a really long explanation for something that isn’t even like, traditionally-heroic, but adfakadfh i think it fits

46. What is some random affectionate thing that your character always does to their lover?

Later in the story, Arkus and Eridunis start doing a little bit more PDA (nothing beyond hand holding; they’re really private people), and I think Eridunis starts putting his hand on Arkus’s back. Just anywhere, but particularly in the upper-middle part of his back, and he just runs his fingers along his spine over the cloth. And if Arkus is wearing the Elonian Elementalist outfit (which he wears in the hottest parts of the desert), Eridunis lets his fingers sit down on the small of Arkus’s back, and he’ll do the same thing–or if he thinks no one is looking, he’ll put his whole hand flush to Arkus’s back and drift it up under the cloth to casually hold him for a sec. very cute ;u;

Ultramarine - What is your favorite aquatic creature? (if they exist)

“I uhh, I don’t know of many, but the octopus always seemed pretty cool. And Tvelle’s skimmer is pretty fun.”

Teal - What makes you feel most at peace?

“Late nights spent alone, stargazing. Though that’s always a sad sort of peace. And going out to hunt down bounties is always calming, too. Just me and my rifle and all the alcohol I could carry.”

Mauve - What makes you feel nostalgic?

“Snow reminds me of my time in Hoelbrak. Not the best feeling, but it’s a feeling. Also, seeing any of Scarlet’s old inventions. Especially the stuff she made before letting Omadd stick her in some weird, suspicious machine. I still go through her old blueprints, from time to time.”

Blush - Do you have a crush on anyone? If so, who is it?

“I uhh, no, not really? I guess I have a crush on Canach? You’re supposed to have a crush on your partner, right? Is it still a crush once you’re dating?”
