Right at the top, I honestly don't know what memory depths you pulled Niutuiyik from cause he existed for like a full two months as icebrood saga started then got deleted when the chapters on the third map released and my enthusiasm for the expac plummeted...I can't find him searching my blog, no idea if you just remembered his name??? I'll answer what I can for him but honestly a lot of info has left my head on that one. 100% answering 13 as well to make up for the missing oc info there 🙏 it did delight me to see him again, maybe he'll get a remake of sorts now that I've had time to develop my own icebrood saga...don't even have a screenshot on hand of him any more 😔

3. How did you choose their name?

Embrant was simply by sound. Just syllables I like together that read to me as a sunny spring day!

Ruan's was a matter of going over old gw1 and gw2 canthan names at length until I felt like I landed somewhere that felt right for them

Niutuiyik I do not remember the full thought process, if I remade him this would mean I'd be picking a new name too because I know his name did have meaning and I'd want to keep that level of intent

5. Is there any significance behind their hair color?

Embrant's entire color scheme was based very loosely off the bird of paradise flower, which includes her hair color! It's just mostly for a nice cohesiveness~

Ruan dyes their hair because they enjoy the color and that it makes them easy to spot in a crowd despite how short they are! Their natural color is a dark nearly-black brown.

Niutuiyik had black hair, entirely because it made sense for him and I in general stick to natural hair colors unless a character dyes their hair or I'm feeling fancy

13. How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?

Embrant is all caught up but doesn't pass, and considering she's a Warden of the Grove, her story is very very chill and simple aside from her gf being the Commander's protégé lmao

Ruan's story is constantly caught up and jumping ahead right now, they're one of my most up to date commanders at the moment. But their plot is always malleable and subject to changes if the plot reveals dictate it and it's fun✨️

Niutuiyik's story burned so bright for so little time.......if I ever do remake him, I'd talk about the story then

When, many years ago, the still quite new court tried to steal some pods directly from the pale tree, Wrelia’s pod was cut down to be taken, but dropped and left behind. She was quite suddenly cut away from her friends and allies in the Dream, left abandoned and barely connected, fighting off the horrors of what her destiny was meant to be. It was quite the shock to the menders and pod tenders when, over a decade after being cut away, a tiny and frail sylvari emerged from her pod, still alive even if she didn’t look it.

Wrelia emerged looking quite dead and desiccated from her time trapped in her pod. While the mender who helped her when she first emerged and the firstborn Caithe tried to be there for her, she struggled significantly to connect to others in the Grove and make friends. She looked like a corpse and held this aura of death to her, and rumors that she was cursed or touched by the dragon Zhaitan spread quickly. She took to necromancy in an attempt to make herself some friends who wouldn’t be offput by her. She dreamed big and poured her all into this magic, absolutely botching her first ritual, leaving her with a legion of ghosts tagging along in her mind at all times and an ability to connect more easily to restless spirits wherever she is. She slowed down and took her time, and with the help of a few of her new ghastly acquaintances, Wrelia started quickly getting the hang of necromancy, improving fast and catching the eye of Valiant and soon to be Commander Laighe (also @mystery-salad‘s).

Laighe was quick to adopt Wrelia, giving her a whole new family that accepted how weird she was, and giving her access to actually experienced necromancers to help her learn. It hasn’t always been easy, but over the years, Wrelia has blossomed, both literally and figuratively. Now a master necromancer in her own right (and maybe accidentally a lich shhh), Wrelia aids the Pact and Laighe as head tactician, having recently taken over for her uncle, Laighe’s twin brother. She writes to her wife, Embrant, and her friends she’s made over the years often, and visits home as often as she can around world crises.

Skilled in both offensive and healing magics, as well as melee combat, Wrelia is always ready to help on or off the field. She swaps between her trusty axe and her father’s greatsword, Caladbolg Origin, which she used to co-wield with her mother but has since taken full ownership of for the time being due to outside circumstances. Her favorite pastimes are baking with her wife, going shopping with friends, and researching magics both new and old to try and apply the theory to her own work and skillset. She’s fond of sweets, nonfiction books, pastels, and her wife.

(end notes: the concept of the court stealing pods was something mystery-salad come up with for a couple of their own characters that they let me apply additionally to Wrelia after a lot of discussion on how it would work and affect things. That origin is very much theirs, and it’s led to some really fascinating connections we’ve been able to explore in the past 5 years~💜 also i don’t have old pictures of Wrelia easily on hand rn but she was very much designed to look skeletal when i first made her, and her love of pastels came from my limited dyes lmao. She was my first gw2 character and is my oldest and remains my main for new content still :3 )

Cue: Top is a hard preference for him, but he’s willing to bend it a bit of convinced.

Cue: Completely dominating someone to the point where they have no control over the situation. He’s also terrified of that due to his temper issues. Would never act on it even if asked to.

Cue: Noooot many. He’ll tie lace up if they ask but will never do anything that would intentionally cause any harm even if wanted. He’s not big on role-play wither, but he dos enjoy integrating toys into sex and lingerie.

Headcanon A:  realistic

Embrant is one of a set of pod twins! And while she and her sister have almost identical personalities, they went in very very different directions. While Rieft is off being a mercenary and exploring the world, Embrant found her happiness and purpose in serving the Grove and the Pale Tree as a Warden! She rose quickly through the ranks and is one of the Pale Tree's personal guards now. She loves seeing all the people that pass through!

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

It does mean she had to rise through the ranks fast, but I handwave that because she was the Pale Tree's guard by lws2, because up in the omphalos chamber is where she first saw her beloved wife, Wrelia (@ascalonianpicnic)! She then proceeded to literally run into the cute sylvari in her rush of trying to catch the same ride back down to the Grove so she could ask her out~ Dragon attacks really set the mood don't they lmao

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

Surprisingly for me, Embrant doesn't have one of these, not even in an AU! She's one of my teeny tiny handful of genuinely happy characters, don't know how she managed that having been around for so long! Round of applause for her resilience through the plot please!

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

oh man, she's technically entirely canon compliant, so please instead enjoy the fact that this perfectly happy and canonical sylvari's mentor (@ascalonianpicnic) is a werebeast, and her wife is an undying lich salad whose best friend is a sylvari born to Nightmare rather than Dream!

EMBRANT MY BELOVED i almost never talk about her since she's only tangential to the plot through @ascalonianpicnic 's Wrelia, but she's so fun and one of my oldest characters thank u for asking about her <3

1.Write a basic lowdown of your OC. What's their deal?

Embrant is a thirdborn, one of a set of pod twins! Neither of them were given strict Wyld Hunts from the Dream, but they were imbued with a thirst or battle and exploration! While Rieft sought her adventures out in the distant shiverpeak mountains, Embrant found her place within the ranks of the Wardens. She spent years working her way up from trainee to a personal guard of the Pale Tree, though she still takes the occasional mission saving dreamers and soundless from nearby Court encampments. During the time of lws2 when the various leaders met for a summit, she was at the Pale Tree's side. And within the meeting chamber she saw the most beautiful sylvari she's ever laid eyes on.

Naturally with everything going on, the chaos that ensued, there wasn't really time to give a simple hello and do any flirting or anything, so when the battle was won and Wrelia was about to leave the chamber, Embrant literally threw herself into the same elevator pod and knocked her crush right over! Swept her off her feet lmao! Over the years the two have built a lovely life together, Embrant keeping her Warden job while Wrelia chases after Laighe across the world as Head Tactician. Between world events the two spend ample time catching up on affection as happily married wives, and when apart Embrant often sends Wrelia care packages!

8. Biggest strength and weakness?

Her biggest strength is, well, her strengths in battle! She is an asset to the Wardens and there's a reason she's one of the Pale Tree's personal guards.

Her biggest weakness is her inability to forgive once she's determined someone to be an enemy. Very black and white way of seeing things, once you're on her shit list you stay there for better or worse.

28. What is their character arc, if they have one.

She's one of my few characters that doesn't really have one! For the most part, she's been the same person from the start up til now. Adventurous, optimistic, motivated, and deeply distrustful of the Court. If anything, her distrust has grown with the time Wrelia was devastatingly emotionally hurt by a courtier. She's not against rehabilitation at all and supports the efforts, but she herself doesn't casually converse with those who stepped into Nightmare.

The biggest question I'd definitely get is "Hey why the fuck did you give us trauma???" while about to stab me for any response I give. My ocs truly would hate me aside from a small handful of those who never really had to deal with hardships lmao, most are still on the road to recovery and much like me would kill their creator if possible

Kvold, Taomesin, and Jioro would all be startled by sudden toaster sound! Gentle breakfast pls they're sleeby/paranoid/hate sudden sounds

Most of my kiddos would feel like a large sum of money would significantly improve their lives. The exceptions to this are most of my commanders except Cara and Joel, Aqun, Embrant, and Rowan

I have many characters I'd love to hang out with, but hands down the ones I think I'd have an amazing day with are Joel, Roibird, Kvold, Alvvae, and Tvelle!

Wynn - Joy - What makes your character happiest?

Holidays! Because she gets to enjoy really fun activities with friends and family. She takes the holidays off from work for the most part and just spends the time full on enjoying whatever the current holiday has to offer.

Eoh - Horse - Is your character good at expressing their emotions?

Yup, she's genuinely one of my healthiest characters when it comes to displaying and processing emotions. Great communicator and helps her friends with emotional breaks often.

Mann - Man - Is your character close to others?

Very! Especially her wife, Wrelia (@ascalonianpicnic) and her friends among the Wardens. She's often found with one of those two, spending time off with Wrelia and her mutual friend group, and the rest of her time with the Wardens. She's a very open personality too so it's not hard to get on her good side and hang out casually with her!

I am currently thinking a lot about Halloween costumes. (I am unfortunately terrible at dressing up my characters ingame, so thoughts they will stay as). What are some of your characters dressed as, and what are their favourite Halloween activities?

Hard question lol! I've actually been too busy so far to have the energy to sort out my costumes yet, but some of the basics:

Kvold is a princess, pairing nicely with his boyfriend's knight costume! He loves just enjoying smaller festivities and the general decorations, going to a lot of parties

Odollumn is a creepy (unintentionally) fairy, and just loiters unless wrelia pulls her into a game

Tvelle is whichever dragon the pact most recently defeated and likes to let kids pretend to vanquish her

Embrant is a sexy necromancer (or as she jokingly says, she's her wife) and she loves the inquisition game!

Ruzzeir puts on a witch hat, dresses Moth the sloth in whatever dog costume he can get his hands on, and sets candy on his desk for coworkers. When he has weekends he enjoys running a few rounds in the labyrinth with coworkers!

Aksgfsf ALL OF THEM okay, this one's getting a readmore, but I accept this karma! Fair warning I'm not great at describing voices so you're gonna get a lot of general vibes

Laighe: rough from years of a hard life and a constantly shifting and growing body, you can tell from her tone it used to be higher pitched and smoother but it's dropped over the years.

Odollumn: perfectly smooth, monotone voice. Almost no inflections to it at all, and very feminine.

Tvelle: boisterous and loud, clear as a bell!

Tenor: Picture the most stereotypical perfect feminine noble woman who's a delicate flower, that's her voice.

Strair: very Bruno Mars meets Prince

Nixxte: N/A, mute

Embrant: Her voice is light and airy and warm, makes you immediately relax and smile.

Rieft: nearly identical to Embrant, but louder and more assertive!

Illiadde: raspy like a chain smoker and in the low registry due to how large she's gotten. You can hear the anger in her voice and if you don't see her first, her voice will certainly tell you it's time to run.

Kvold: high registry for a guy, but still a rough edge to it that betrays a little of his softness.

Aqun: wine aunt voice but give it to a serious professional demeanor.

Jioro: tough and brusque, has a natural rasp to it. She sounds her age, being just barely an adult.

Cue: low and rough, a harsh voice that helps keep most people from interacting too eagerly.

Renee: smooth and gentle like a river, but has a depth to it that just gives you the Feeling she knows so much and that every word is measured and has meaning.

Cherie: bright and cheerful and carries an infectious smile in the words!

Cillian: layered, what once was a smooth seductive voice now has the undertone of a harsher one much recognized and beloved by those who knew Faolain well.

Dian: solid and deliberate with a growl to the words that almost seems to reverberate in your chest with heat.

Ezra: incredibly low and gravely, he's starting to really show his age in it.

Taomesin: they started with a carefree, boyish voice. But now that's been flattened irreparably, and it carries a musical echo of the crystals within their vocal chords.

Matthias: nobleman in the prime of his life, like if Faren was actually well written and voiced as such, plus an Irish accent.

Idollis: michevous and charismatic, but a solid rasp to his voice. Often interrupted by coughing fits if his respirator is off for too long.

Illicit: measured and cunning and harsh, she sounds several feet taller than she is.

Joel: confrontational, confident, but with the smoothness of someone fresh into its twenties.

Drieg: raspy yet smooth, if that makes sense. Almost a whisper of a voice.

Vuisce: confident and steady, with an infectious enthusiasm!

Admhail: smooth and airy, carries an importance to their voice they couldn't shake even if they tried.

Lance: it echoes, her old voice so beautiful and nearly musical in nature layered with the gravely tones of her statue body.

Kai: low, rough, and callous. You can tell easily that she does not want to talk to you, even if that's not true.

Roibird: lilting and musical with a determined cheerfulness!

Fluirseach: even toned and calm, measured words.

Ruan: confident and gathers notice easily, you can tell if they've spoken up even in a loud room. Their voice invites attention more than commands it.

Aezlin: high and lilting and sultry, so inviting like sweet honey.

Rowan: perfect motherly voice with a sternness and seriousness to it.

Mint: timid and hesitant and soft, every word sounds like they're asking if it's alright to speak right now.

Tirs: solid and confident and flirtatious! You can tell she'll be a fun girl to buy a drink for immediately.

Envert: calm and calculated and nearly emotionless, every word takes you into account more as a target than a member of a conversation.

Fhariem: Meryl Streep in Devil Wears Prada.

Nimue: gentle and kind, soft spoken but confident and friendly and deep.

Lucent: a typical high pitched female and low pitched male voice layered together in harmony.

Fiorasc: sunny and floral and calming but bright!

Mi Adh: Deep and rolling, with a femme Fatale touch.

Mattæo: surprisingly high and soft for her size, but made up for by the depth of it.

Hastigi: rough and deep, low registry with a gravely rumble to it.

Ennreck: smooth and low, with a fun lilt to it.

Thale: ever changing, depending on the need, but always holds an enchanting depth.

Call: tough and confrontational, your stereotypical tone when TV shows call a character a tomboy.

Cinnuit: deep and calming, low registry but so smooth and gentle.

Alvvae: high and accented and usually a little rough due to having to speak up so often to be noticed or seen. But nonetheless very friendly and enthusiastic!

Imekaari: gentle and kind, so kind. Soft and inviting and even toned.

Which characters have the honor/dishonor of being your crafting thralls and why?

Off the top of my head, my main crafting thralls are Laighe, Tvelle, Tao, and Nixxte. And truly, there's no rhyme or reason to this at all.

The way it works is whichever character I'm on when I need to level up a crafting practice for Reasons is the one who tends to become the thrall for it!

I do have characters who would have the crafting for lore reasons, like Embrant would definitely be a chef and Bodacc would be a weaponsmaster, but it's so expensive to get full crafting so in game it keep it to just my original characters that got loaded up with the craft skill.

Do you think your characters name their mounts? My weaver, Elliot, names his raptor "chocolate" and skyscale "Miss Scales"

Yes!!! Any of my characters that have mounts have properly adopted and named them. They're handled a lot like horses in my mind, you either have the land to train and care for them, or you rent a stable space for them to live at between caring for them.

Some notable names include Tvelle's raptor named Sledgehammer, Laighe's wyvern (shhh it's allowed) named Lilith, Embrant's jackal named Daisy, and Joel's raptor named Ralph

all of them oh goodness how about those I haven't answered it for yet? We've already got Cinnuit/Trahearne, Kai/Caithe, Matthias/Aildyn, Cue/Lace and we'll see which other couples I can both remember and feel I have expertise on! If I add a (A) to a character, that means @ascalonianpicnic owns them!

Tvelle/Canach: A menacing duo, Canach makes them both impossible to hit with his shield and explosives while Tvelle launches herself right into enemies with her hammer!

Aqun/Veirett(A): Log distance rev hammer and short range(soon) ranger hammer!!!! The two are menaces during those rare times they work together in the field, they could flatten an area in minutes.

Laighe/Variott(A): Variott isn't a big combat person, he's a scout instead! So combat would mostly be Laighe handling things when she's around. Granted, as a scout Variott very much can handle themself but Laighe is built for combat in a way they aren't.

Embrant/Wrelia(A): A little meta on my end on this, but Socks and I excel on thief/necro fighting and these two would absolutely be as in synch in game as we are when playing 💖

Lance/Fade(A): Ancient lovers/warriors who lives in Orr when it was first settled, now in current day again ready to adventure together and take care of things, these two fight flawlessly at each others' sides. You can really tell how close they are.

Charlie/Mar(A): They've never fought together, but if they did I have a feeling they'd be only so effective. Not because they're not capable, but because they're incapable of doing anything near each other without flirting and causing distractions. Absolute in love dorks~

Ruan/Camilla(A): Two guardians who can both hit hard and raze a field while also protecting and healing each other? *chuckles* you're in danger

Aezlin/Gavin/Oriphio(A): Gavin and Oriphio handle almost all the battles lol, Aezlin is capable of fighting but he loves watching his boyfriends fight for him. That being said, he will still throw out clones and illusions to confuse enemies.

Imekaari/Trahearne/Lace(A): A trio of heavy hitting light classes! Trahearne handles the brunt of things along with Lace, Trahearne doing close quarters while Lace handles AoE attacks. Imekaari, while powerful, uses his own skills to support as a healer role so the other two can focus more on attacking rather than defending.

🐍 Is your OC a good liar? How easy is it for them to tell lies? What is the biggest lie they’ve ever told and did they ever get found out? On the other hand, what is the biggest lie someone has told your OC and did they believe them?

Aildyn is an excellent liar. It was a major part of the jobs they did back when they were in the nightmare court. The biggest lie they ever told was telling Caithe and Trahearne that they were soundless, and that they were ready to help with Orr and Zhaitan for their wyld hunt, back before personal story. They managed to maintain the lie through the death of Zhaitan, but were revealed to be a courtier during the celebration. On the flip side, the biggest lie Aildyn was ever told was that they'd have the chance to be their own person and follow their own path within the nightmare court. And they fell for it, hook line and sinker, only to discover they were just as trapped in the nightmare as they had been in the dream.

Wrelia on the other hand, is probably an absolutely abysmal liar, since she just flat out never lies. The biggest "lie" she's ever told is withholding information relating to a pact prisoner's escape, including the fact that she helped said prisoner escape. Wrelia has been lied to a lot, but the one that sticks the most and still leaves her angry to this day is Trahearne promising to always be there for her, back when Laighe (who belongs to @mystery-salad) first brought her into their little family. She believed him, and well, you know :) the end of HoT was hard on her as someone with severe abandonment issues, and she blames him for it.

🌙 What are some of your OC’s favourites? Favourite food, colour, season, stuff like that! Give some general simple facts that tend to get overlooked!

Aildyn's favorite food is french toast piled up with fresh fruit and whipped cream, with honey drizzled on top. Their favorite color is a sort of rosey taupe, though they're fond of most browns and especially red and purple hued browns. Cats are their favorite animals. Historical romance is their favorite genre. And lightly snowing is their favorite weather.

Wrelia's favorite food is her wife's home made cookies, though lemon lavender cupcakes are a close second. Her favorite season in spring, because of how bright and colorful it is, and how everything comes back to life. Her favorite holiday is wintersday, despite her being a goth literally born during mad king's day. Her favorite texture is worn leather. And her favorite place is her uncle's office in the priory.

🌸 What’s a sentence that would make your OC’s day better? One that would make them laugh? One that would make their day worse? Why? What words would you have to say to them to completely ruin their day?

Someone on the team inviting Aildyn into town to explore or shop or grab lunch will always brighten their day. Their raven, Cassiopeia, telling someone to "fuck off" will always make them laugh. They taught her to say that. They are in fact very proud. Bringing up that they're of the nightmare will always make their day worse. Yes, they know they are, they're constantly aware that they made a horrible mistake as a sapling and they're still paying for it, that doesn't mean they are any less dedicated to the pact and protecting the world though. The easiest way to ruin their day is to simply remind them that their Duke is still waiting for them back home, for when they finally return :)

Wrelia's day always gets significantly better at the sound of "Variott made muffins again." She loves a good baked good, and Variott makes The Best muffins. Her wife, Embrant (who also belongs to mystery-salad lmao) teasing her will make Wrelia giggle without fail. Laighe saying she's too busy working in response to basically anything will make Wrelia's day worse consistently. And telling Wrelia that someone won't be coming back will ruin more than just her day.

💧 What is something from your OC’s past they’re the most ashamed of and why? What is something they’re really proud of? And lastly what is something in their past that could make them shake with dread?

Aildyn is incredibly ashamed of the things they said to Matthias (who once again belongs to mystery-salad uwu) when they were younger, especially when they blamed him for Trahearne's death. They'd take those words back, if they could. In contrast, they're incredibly proud of the Pact, how much they've helped it grow, how many people they've been able to save through it, the good it has been able to do since they helped start it. As for something that makes them shake with dread, their Duke easily takes the prize there. He was so horrible to them, and they just let him be, and they know with a terrifying certainty that one day, he'll get sick of waiting and simply come and rip them away from this life they've built and these people they love.

Wrelia is ashamed of herself for the secrets she's keeping from Laighe. While Wrelia doesn't regret accidentally awakening herself while studying Joko's magic, as it lets her properly help the free awakened with any healing they may need, she knows her mom would be upset at best at the news. So she keeps that, and other things, secret for Laighe's sake, even if it hurts a little to hide it. In line with that, though, she's really proud of how far her necromancy has come. Wrelia taught herself most of what she knows, and is a scarily powerful necromancer by now with all the time and effort she has put into studying and practicing. The only thing from her past that would make Wrelia feel dread would be Laighe leaving and never coming back, which is what Wrelia thought she would do the first time she disappeared. It hasn't happened yet, and Wrelia trusts Laighe to not do that to her, but if something pulled up that fear, it would really shake Wrelia.
