#sonic boom #sonic the hedgehog #eggman #mike pollock #roger craig smith #gushing #i love freaky friday-styled episodes #gives the actors a chance to show their skill by playing each other #and generally speaking if they're really good actors they usuallly nail it #and mike and roger certainly nailed it #mike especially #eggman's voice isn't too different from the games #a little more comedic and whiny but mostly the same #so roger didn't have to compensate quite as much for the difference in character #(which is not to say that roger doesn't do an amazing eggman impression #he certainly nails the diabolical evil genius thing throughout the whole episode)#but boom sonic sounds different than any other sonic #he's pretty blase and 100% done with everything all the time #and mike even brings THAT into the voice #sheer genius

trying to finish as much as i can off playstation plus before letting my subscription end and one of those things was the bioshock infinite burial at sea dlc and oh my fucking god what an absolutely atrotrious experience. incredibly somehow worse than bioshock infinite (a game i hold no affection for) and may be one of the worst video game experiences i've ever had.

#we happy few remains the single worst game i've ever played #it has quite a lead on anything else #but damn this was so much worse than i was expecting #from a gameplay perspective i hated every second of it #the worst stealth mechanics i've ever experienced in a video game #games that have no stealth mechanics and expect you do stealth do better at stealth than this does #pretty much impossible to walk more than a few steps without every enemy in the level instantly knowing exactly where you are #because you stood on the wrong kind of floor #miserable #and of course elizabeth has to be weak and much less capable of combat than any other bioshock protagonist because she's a woman obviously #from a narrative perspective it was just #there should be a specific concise term for when prequels spend all their narrative efforts to show you the origins of any important elemen #lets call it 'story by way of recognizable nouns' or 'prequel origin porn' or someone else is probably better at naming things than i am #anyway that's the narrative in burial at sea #its vapid its obvious its a foregone conclusion it fucking sucks #and like look i don't love elizabeth bioshock infinite but she deserves better than anything that happens in this dlc

I like Shadowheart but I legitimately do not know where the narrative emerges from that Lae'zel is the aggressor because in every single playthrough I've done Shadowheart talks about her like three times more and usually unprompted. Lae'zel's RUDE sure but the worst thing she does to Shadowheart is tell us not to save her in the middle of a burning crashing mind flayer ship (while doing nothing to stop us if we decide to do it). Shadowheart comes out the gate suspicious of Lae'zel and is incredibly hostile and mistrustful of her not because of anything she's actually done. Shadowheart has actually done something to Lae'zel's people and she knows it but when confronted about that immediately jumps to "well it was probably stolen plunder anyways 😒😒😒" ITS NOT. ITS CARVED WITH GITH RUNES AND HAS BEEN WITH THEM FOR GENERATIONS. AND ALSO THAT WOULDNT MAKE IT YOURS.

The weirdest the game gets about this is that fight where Lae'zel challenges her to a duel and Shadowheart instead sneaks up on her in the middle of the night and holds a knife to her throat! And then starts!!! lecturing LAE'ZEL about how they need not be enemies and they could instead direct that hostility at others! This is seconds after "If the others ask, I'll say you were turning. Don't expect to be mourned" btw

To be clear this too is yuri but girl you have problems! Conditions even!

#it occasionally (often) feels like the game really banks on me agreeing on gith default evil #which i dont for any number of reasons.#but also laezel is like pretty much nothing but practical the whole opening act #considering the stakes she believes are at play!#very rarely does she actually pick fights with the others she just doesnt have patience with them #also its deeply funny to be playing as a gith sorceror who's mostly in shadowhearts good books #she keeps expecting orroros to agree and orroros is like hey man im scared shitless of her but like #for a reason #whats your reason it doesnt seem like you have a reason #then they get a proper look at the astral prism and go oh thats the reason #well that sucks >: (#bg3 #baldurs gate 3 #shadowheart #lae'zel

I have found a beautiful perfect humble rock specimen that is light yellow with a weird dark yellowy brown lining, somewhat resembling a chunk of smoked gouda cheese... effervescent

#I am still very into trash collecting at the moment and even went out and got one of those grabby sticks for cheap and a little #bucket I can carry around and put trash in. so I am going on walks in nature a bit more (not really to enjoy nature but more to play the #very fun Real Life Hidden Object Point And Click Game that is 'hunt for bottle caps and cans' .. but eh.. whatever gets me out of the #house lol).. anyway.. some nature places near water will have cool rocks #Which I know you're not supposed to take them and I MOSTLY dont.. but every once in a while it's like... when else will I ever find a #gouda rock... I have cleaned up 4 buckets of trash today.. I have helped the environment.. mayhaps.. i could take a One Single Rocke as a #treate... ANYWAY. but yeah. I don't know the names of rocks but there's a rock that's a matte muted marigold yellow sort of #color and I call them 'cheese rock'. I'm pretty sure this one is of the 'cheese rock' species but it just has weird brown coloration #like maybe it got stained or something on one side of it. Most of the other cheese rocks have no markings. though sometimes there will be a #auburn reddish sort of hue on a corner or something.. hrmm.. curious. I also got a Beginner's Hobby rock tumbler and some supplies #so I might try polishing some of the rocks from my enormous rock collection. even though they're all street rocks I picked up from sidewalk #and stuff. I saw a video where someone put random gravel and stuff in a rock tumbler and none of them were Stunning Gems or whatver #but some still turned out cool enough that I would be pleased with the result... OUgh.. I want to post more I need to like do costumes and #sculptures and stuff and be Active On Social Media and think about my Future and Career and how it always benefits artists to keep an #active social media or etc. but I just feel so tired and bad lately. I think the summer heat waves have really exhausted me. I also have #been trying to make new friends + on a weird schedule so I've been socializing and also watching media too much. I notice I always start #to feel this kind of unsettled stress of not making any forward progress in my life if I do that for too long. like 'Okay this week I've #done nothing but meet up with two friends & watch like 10 episodes of tv and only worked on a few projects on the side.. this is HORRIBLE!'#(ppl who follow me here that I talk to on discord: this isn't about you! Im specifically just referencing being tired of introductory talks #with a new round of random strangers during my Friend Hunt. I was rewatching The Stone Forest and I really like to think that Hilda had to pass by the Bell Keeper’s outpost on her way out of the city limits. I like to think that idiot looked at what was happening, shrugged, and said ‘eh, she’s the scariest thing out there’

#could it be #baby don't hurt me #“i'm not your mary” oo i got chills #the most encouraging thing was seeing all the new areas that nailed one of my favourite (and most underrated) parts of the original trilogy #which is the very lovingly rendered individual rooms and places with so many bespoke details and bits and bops to peruse #if they can only avoid what happened with homecoming #who actually got the “gorgeous atmospheric environments” part down pretty well but #the event director had for some reason tragically fallen completely asleep and said environments just never gave you any reason to fear #that anything unexpected might ever happen #so they just chucked a monster at you every now and then to (try to) create tension instead #it was very boring #my other fear is one i've had from the very beginning but #as i said earlier i think the original is an unusually emotionally intelligent game (regarding Angela especially)#and i have never played a booby team game but #from assorted coverage i've kind of gathered that “tactful depictions of mental health” hasn't been something they particularly excel at #but if they're just sticking to the script of the original i guess it'll be just fine #i hope #(and don't play up the “abstract daddy” bit too much because that might just be the only part)#(where the original started to skirt the line of taste just a bit hn)

like. romance all possible characters? sure there's four

try every trait combination? three, but order you take them in matters so that's actually six

then there's a couple choices/outcomes you can affect that are pretty significant and you might wanna try different combinations of them, and oh what if I want to see what happens if I do this part differently with this love interest (side eyes persephone loudly) and then there's the broken heart choices too you could probably do something interesting with that and

and don't even fucking get me started on the songs?? i don't even wanna know how many possible versions of the songs exist. i know not every choice in a song is affected by previous choices but some of them are and that's nuts to me

anyway. how long do you think it'll take me to get sick of this game?

#I'm trying so hard to like the fucking region but every time I played the game within that region I feel so mad #I'm trying out the new area n the new creature is just so lacklustre #Tbh I think the design r pretty/cute but playing as them??? Ugh UGH #How do make flying awful #That mechanic broke on me??! I was stuck having to float down to the water lvl cuz I wasn't at right lvl to hit the mountain top #N for some reason the movement for it was locked in one direction so I couldn't even try n turn to get to closer area orz #I know it was just a glitch BUT AFTER having to find that creature only for it not to work? Piss off omg #Also there so much mountain n okay fine I understand that the region design ig #But having wave point be at the highest place where u need to have one of the creatures to even get there if u don't have the correct chara #Character?? There has been some mildly concerning news (confirmation from ceo) about the integrity of this website. Optimistically this means that they'll stop wasting time on Tumblr Live and UI changes nobody likes. Pessimistically it's a reminder that the plug can be pulled at any time.

I might be jumping the gun, but just in case, I've made a Wordpress backup of this blog. (It's mostly for me tbh.)

If you'd like to backup your own blog... Importing your posts into Wordpress is easy, finding a theme that actually displays them is... not. Still, it's something.

If you want to make an offline backup of your blog, try these python scripts (guide for total newbies here). Good luck in this era of chaos!

If there's one thing I like more than time travel it's crossover reincarnation, so.

Botk link reincarnated as Damian Wayne.

An incredible weapon master of all types, but especially prodigious with a sword - he was beating knights at the age of 4 and with his memories as intact as they get for him I can see that goalpost moving even further (probably with traps and tricks, a 3yo doesn't exactly have great bodily control).

He's an excellent survivalist, agile, strong, durable, cunning and creative. He can move like a feather in the breeze, strike from behind with ease. His first kill, an animal, did not stir him as it did the other children. With his poise, grace, skills, obedience, he ought to be ra'as' finest assassin in the making, a jewel in the crown of the league.

Except he never speaks a word. Half his targets escape unscathed. He skates by true punishment on the merit of his skills and achievements in other missions. Testing has shown it is not a physical deformity that prevents his speech, but not even talia has been able to coaxe a word from him past his second birthday.

It is a defect ra'as is growing more and more frustrated by, as each attempt to fix these two final flaws ends in resounding failure. Less extreme solutions are running dry.

Talia fears those solutions. Her child does too, she knows. For them, there is a possible solution, more extreme than anything ra'as would tolerate.

She sends him out of the league. To his father.

To Gotham.

Like monsters? Kill with prejudice loot the corpses.#The yiga might have a little more hindsight understanding and he never killed them anyway but zero hesitation blowing them up #And ganon is so far removed from the concept of 'killing is bad' because a) human??? Monster??? B) literally the problem #C) he's been killing people so it'd even out d) everyone wants him dead So Bad e) been killed already like a dozen times what's one more #I get the feeling he'd assign the same role to the joker like 'widely considered the source of all evil. 'died' several times and came back #personal source of absolute misery for several heroes. Killed many' = slay the monster. Straightforward.#Like yes link always chooses kindness and has a strong morality and Opinion on killing people it's just a lot would be solved #By hitting the joker until he stopped making life miserable for everyone and if that means permanently well that's kind of link's job.#And like with Jason the bats understand that a lot better than they pretend to. But that is a 10yo who should not be thinking like that.#I think it'd be interesting to see how that'd change their reactions to 'Damian'. Like he holds a very similar opinion to og and Jason he #Just goes about it completely differently.#And I'd love to explore the differences between two fictional worlds and how they can go from pretty much the most black/white morality #To probably one of the greyest areas while still holding near identical themes and methods of dealing with that.#Found family compassion as a weapon against evil and copious amounts of weapons and cool gear lol #Also link should keep the arm he's earned it. Reincarnating with all his memories knocked a few other things loose I'd imagine #Mostly because all the loz games I've played have absolutely altered the way I view any link and also I love referencing them.#Damian with telekinesis and infinite glue would be great. #contra.txt #y5 haters in general... does playable haruka mean nothing to you...#DOES SHINADA TATSUO MEAN NOTHING TO YOU...#for legal reasons this is a joke people are allowed to feel however they want about whatever it's just viddy games #and i fully acknowledge y5 and its litany of flaws #of which there are certainly enough for any given individual to justifiably dislike/hate its entirety but I AM A Y5 LOVER THRU AND THRU #saejima's arc is just an arguably less interesting rehash of the one he had in 4?#(jail; jailbreak; betrayed by his lil buddy guy #but now we're sans the interesting character stuff of his feelings regarding the hit. & also i miss his hair.#& that's not even to say i think saejima is boring in y5 i think there's some interesting subtext to take away from his character #unique to this entry but it's pretty hard to deny how much is literally just y4 again but now he's bald)#BUT WHO GAFS he got buffed to hell gameplay-wise and punches bears now #and also baba's a great character and he doesn't have to do a whole chase minigame if a cop sees him anymore #bloated/unfocused feeling in general to the game?#WELL THAT'S JUST MORE CONTENT BABY!!! only a real issue if you're a completionist imo #+ are u telling me you don't wanna drive a taxi? u don't wanna play a video game in which the goal is to drive as normally as possible?#and i loveeeee multiple protagonists yay <3 y0 y4 and y5 are my favs so far lol (up to y6)#kiryu's inclusion in y5 also feels way more justified than in y4. he was so tacked on there i'm trying to remember what he even really did #other than tiger dropping as a boss fight before instantly forgetting how to tiger drop the second he became playable #and losing track of yasuko and getting tag-teamed by akiyama and tanimura (cough) and beating up daigo #but in exchange akiyama becomes the protag that feels kinda tacked on in y5. way less so than kiryu in y4 tho for sure #anyway. weird/strangely justified plot beats? WELL THAT'S JUST EVERY YAKUZA GAME #an arguably strange/poor writing choice for majima especially given how he ended up being written in y0?#well honestly other than the age thing i think it makes him more interesting... he's kinda fucked up!#but i do get why people are /really/ not a fan of it. ik i just said i think it makes him more interesting but if it gets retconned #or even just never mentioned again i wouldn't be surprised tbh #but additionally he's not even a major character in y5 so it feels like it's not really a significant complaint imo #anyway anyone can do this ('this' being acknowledging the flaws of a thing and then letting how much they otherwise enjoy #said thing determine how much they let said flaws influence their overall opinion) ...such is the beauty of subjectivity... i love you.#yakuza
