sometimes i do that neurodivergent thing when you pretend to be somebody else for a period of time
i pretend to be a rising popular actor/writer and the setting i pretend to be in is those live comedy interviews with people who are not as much interviewers but comedians, 10 to 20 years in the future
and i imagine what questions they might ask me and i try to answer them as best as i could
(in my imagination the host is rude and insensitive, asks private questions as for awkward laughs)
it helps me in so many ways, like, i have a fear of stage and crowd watching me, i'm not a fast thinker, i have bad pronunciation in english, i have doubts as to my looks and my body and how people might perceive me
and that play helps me with all that, since it's one of my dreams to be an actor/writer, that play helps me find words for some weird/insensitive questions and avoid awkward situations and embarrassing myself without actually being put in these situations irl!
(it also helps me plan out my future and affirm my hopes!)
at this point in that play it's somewhere between 2030 and 2040, i have been in 3 movies as a lead and in 4-6 as a secondary/background character, i was on many interviews for roles, some of them were weird. i wrote and published a book and writing a novel currently, i have a rising fandom on various social media!
when i was even younger i did that too, but i played as a mystical being, a god of sorts, a spirit if you will. it helped me with growing up and taking responsibilities, with understanding myself and coming to understand other people, with realization about how this world works, it helped me learn and unwind through somebody else's eyes and mind. now that being is separate from me
there was a time that i talked to them and they talked to me, she was my thoughts and desires and bad dreams and habits, sometimes they were sabotaging me if i had to do important but boring work, pleading to have some fun instead. and it actually helped getting things done, because it wasn't i who didn't want to do the work, it was them and i could fight them off and not feel guilty for wanting to take a break i knew i didn't need
i think most of the kids do something similar to this, but i learned that it's most common in neurodivergent kids, it was one of the things that lead me to realization that i was one of neurodivergent kids

Pretend play is a critical component of a child's development, and toys play a big part in facilitating it
Tumblr media
Play is a fundamental aspect of childhood. Children learn about themselves, others, and the world around them through play. Pretend play, in particular, allows children to explore new roles, try on different identities, and experiment with social situations. It is a critical component of a child's development, and toys play a big part in facilitating it. In this blog, we will explore the benefits of pretend play and why toys are essential for children's development.
Cognitive Development: Pretend play helps children develop their cognitive abilities, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and imagination. It allows them to explore different scenarios and use their creativity to solve problems. Toys that encourage imaginative play, such as dolls, action figures, and play kitchens, help children develop these skills.
Social Development: Pretend play also helps children develop social skills, such as empathy, communication, and cooperation. It allows them to practice social situations and learn how to interact with others. Toys that facilitate social play, such as board games, role-play toys, and building blocks, help children develop these skills.
Emotional Development: Pretend play helps children develop emotional intelligence, such as self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation. It allows them to express their emotions and understand the emotions of others. Toys that promote emotional play, such as stuffed animals, puppets, and art supplies, help children develop these skills.
Language Development: Pretend play helps children develop language skills, such as vocabulary, syntax, and storytelling. It allows them to practice using language in context and develop their communication skills. Toys that encourage language play, such as books, puzzles, and storytelling toys, help children develop these skills.
