mind as a robot not because he's emotionless but the other way around. mind who's seen as emotionless because he's a robot. mind who uses being robotic as a justification of why he's the most logical. mind who convinces himself that because he's mechanical, all this is just objective truth because he's not capable of the alternative. mind who bottles up his emotions under the assumption he can't have them.

Kishimoto created Gaara as a foil for Naruto, but what he actually did was accidentally make a fictional case study on how the mistreatment and discouragement of a young boy can lead to societal ruin and endangerment, but with the proper intervention can actually help develop him into a man who possesses all the positive "masculine" traits which inevitably leads to the benefit of society.
But nobody asked for that soapbox speech, so please just look at him:

love the blackmadhi trope of "These two co-counseling a case together would definitely end up with them in bed."

When you tell you’re coworkers you’re autistic and their response is always “I definitely couldn’t tell”. It’s called masking, guys, and I’ve been practicing for decades.

I find it incredibly funny how Leslye will state something concerning Osha and Qimir so matter-of-factly, without any leg room for much interpretation and people will still go "no, it's actually y and z", as if they somehow understand the text greater than the writer herself.

"How had her mother succeeded in it every time? Each visiting man had fit within her form, from the tall to the short, to the wide or the narrow, and been held in place. As Thancred's arm slid across her ribs, unbound, and settled into the stained nook underneath her shoulder, two rounded answers, sorely lacked, instantly became clear.

i think the key to true unwavering joy is to fill everyday with so much love & light
to be fully present
to rest when your body says so
and if the work is hard & tough,
to take a moment and fill yourself with gratitude
that you are on your way to so much better
and if you feel fear of what’s coming next,
to relax in yourself and shower yourself with praise
of all you are capable of,
of all you have accomplished
and are yet to accomplish.
i think the key to living happily is to be on your own side
through all things
to take care of yourself in the ways you wish someone else had.
every moment is an opportunity for so much joy to bloom
& it is seizable, if you are present to witness it.

I was rereading through Dungeon Meshi and I only realized while going through the changeling chapters that Laios not recognizing that Dwarves have lower stamina and need more food than other races until after he was literally forced to walk a mile in their shoes is extra bad because Senshi isn't the first dwarf he's partied with; he had probably been regularly running poor Namari into the ground with zero recognition of how much she was suffering
truly do not know why you came into my inbox of all places with this, I'm not the person to randomly trash on a dunmeshi character in general, let alone Laios.
But for the record:
The whole chapter is about challenging the perspectives the characters have about on other based on their races, and making them realize more about each other (Chilchuck's age, why he avoids combat, dwarven stamina, half-foot mana limits, tall-men being bigger targets in fights, elven... elfiness not being just "put upon airs" as Senshi says)
Laios is explicitly so taken by how much he can carry and do as a dwarf that he over exerts himself faster than someone who has lived their whole life as a dwarf would. He doesn't know how to manage it as well. Other characters run into similar problems (such as Marcille casting a big spell and immediately getting hit with mana sickness as a half-foot)
The whole fucking manga is about the difficulties of understanding people across cultural and racial divides, and the importance of realizing how prejudices and assumptions can lead people to the wrong conclusions about those around them, even friends and family. Being willing to grow and change is more important than never getting something wrong in the first place.
Laios acknowledging his new understanding of dwarven physique, and even connecting it to ways his dwarven friends act (not wearing heavy armor, wanting to cook filling meals regularly) is actually pretty insightful and shows a curiosity and willingness to learn, imho.

There are two types of first time Bachelor's route players:
🤔 Wow, Daniil is way nicer than I thought. Fandom portraits him as such a douche. Yeah, he has his moments, as all the healers do, but he is overwhelmingly nice and helpful. Interesting.
🤪 Only started playing and Daniil is THE WORST! Everything he says makes me cringe. Like, a wealthy and influential woman just offered him sex and he, can you believe it, politely ignored it! What a weirdo! Anyway, I'm going to continue taking everything he says out of context and presenting it as the worst thing ever because it's just so much fun!
