Fic Writer ASk Game - 🎥, 🎤(for Sway and the Fireworks duology…yes, I may be considering making a fanmix for Sway), 💀 for the Molliarty Little Mermaid fic, 👀 and 😨!
🎥If you could make a movie/tv show for one of your fics which one would you chose?
The Heart of the Hand would get its own TV series, mainly because by the time I'm done with it, it'll be way too long and detailed for a movie.
🎤what songs remind you of [insert fic]?
For Fireworks, definitely "Accidentally In Love" from Shrek 2. For your fic Sway, "Ever Fallen In Love" also from Shrek 2 and "War of Hearts" by Ruelle (I'll come up with more as I re-read it, I'm sure).
💀if you had to write an alternate ending to [insert fic] how would you end it?
For The Petite Mermaid? I'd have Irene not interfere, so Molly and Jim would marry. While their marriage would have a very rough start, the fic would end with them being happy together.
👀what's a fic written by someone else that you REALLY wish you wrote yourself?
Sway, definitely. My re-read is only on chapter 3 but it's such a gorgeous fic that yeah, I wish I was even half that good at writing Khanolly.
😨 describe in FULL detail the first fic you wrote (yes I'm talking the wattpad shit we all did it).
Oh God. If I remember correctly, it was rpf about me and my friends when I was in elementary school, somewhere around 4th or 5th grade. No, I don't still have it, nor do I remember the details but I'm sure the plot was a rambling mess.

FYDL Drabble-A-Thon, Day 9
Prompt: Maybes
Pairing: pre-Darcy/Steve, Darcy & Tony (Darcy is Tony’s Daughter)
Length: 905 words
Organization: Wounded Warrior Project
(warning, if anyone needs it, for cursing)
“I may have overreacted.” At her snort, Darcy’s dad looked up indignantly and pointed a challenging finger at her. “Hey, he killed your grandmother and grandfather, you know!”
With a sigh, Darcy walked over to gently wrap her arms around Tony from behind. “I know, Dad. But we both know he didn’t do it of his own free will,” she added, dropping her chin to rest on his head. His arms came up over hers, patting lightly, and she drew away. Touch still freaked him out, most days. When it came to his daughter, he tolerated it. She tried not to push his limits, though, especially when he was already struggling.
And boy, was he struggling with this. “And the Accords? Thaddeus Ross, Dad. Really?”
Scrubbing a hand over his face, he groaned. “You’re just putting all my faults on display today, aren’t you. I might’ve made a knee-jerk, hasty decision on that, too.”
“Maybe,” she said, heavy on the sarcasm. He rolled his eyes, but didn’t complain. She’d gotten her sharp tongue from him, after all. “If only you had a daughter, who—I don’t know—specializes in political science and shit like this who was ready and willing to help,” she spit, voice sharp enough to cut glass.
He cringed away from her, then changed his mind and stood his ground. Picking up the glass of liquor on his work table, he downed the amber liquid in one go. “I didn’t want you involved in this! After New Mexico, after London—”
“You didn’t think I could handle it?” she interrupted hotly, tears of anger and frustration burning at the corner of her eyes. The fear was eating away at him, she could tell. He was standing in front of her, but she felt like she was losing him with every passing second.
“No!” he exploded, reaching for the bottle to pour himself another glass. She snagged it before he could, jerking it out of his reach. He’d have this conversation as sober as possible, or she was leaving. Seeing the hard look in her eyes, he relented.
His weight sagged forward onto his elbows. He looked smaller than usual, and it broke her heart. “I wanted to keep you safe, Darcy. I just—I couldn’t seem to get anything else right. But I wanted you to be safe. I wanted to be a good dad, for once.”
“You are a good dad. You’ve always been a good dad.” But he just shook his head, not hearing her. It was, ironically, one of Tony’s greatest faults as a dad—that he never believed he was doing a good job as a parent.
Sighing, she let it go. “But I’m here now,” she said, waving a hand to encompass the penthouse of Avengers Tower. “So please, Dad, tell me how I can help.”
“There’s something shady going on,” was her dad’s spectacularly unhelpful answer. “Something bad, really fucking bad. And…” he scrubbed a hand over his face, casting a longing look at the bottle she still held out of his reach. “Fuck. I need Rogers to come back. And Barnes, too, probably.”
Darcy closed her eyes briefly. It was even worse than she thought. “I don’t think he’s gonna listen to you, Dad.” She thought about listing all the reasons why Captain Rogers wouldn’t let him come within a hundred yards, but decided against it. No need to pour salt into an open wound.
“I know, Darce. But he has to come back.” He looked at her significantly, and she finally realized why he’d asked her to meet him so suddenly, and without warning.
“Me?” she asked incredulously, pointing a finger at herself. “You want me to go get him?” At his weary nod, she said, “What happened to all that bullshit about protecting me?”
“I can’t trust anyone else to do this,” he said, looking like a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders, all sallow skin and heavy eyes. And maybe it was, for all she knew.
“Okay,” she said, reaching out to press her fingers against his. He gripped hers in turn, and she knew they’d be all right. She was still going to dump out the alcohol, though. “What do you need me to do?”
-:-
Three months later, Darcy was cursing her dad in every language she knew, plus some she didn’t.
As she looked past the barrel of the gun pointed at her, staring at the man whose face was hidden in the shadows of the building, her first reaction was guilt. Tony would never forgive himself if she died; he’d blame it all on himself.
Then the man stepped out of the darkness, and Darcy forgot all about her dad. Her sharp intake of breath gave her away, and his frown deepened. “Who the hell are you, and why are you looking for Steve Rogers?” he growled.
Nice try, buddy. She’d recognize that baritone anywhere. “Oh,” was her clever response. And then her mouth caught up—well before her brain, as usual. “No wonder you’re so hard to track down,” she said, gesturing at his full beard and unruly hair.
Confusion flickered in his eyes, but he stepped forward threateningly. She tossed him a winning smile, catching him off-guard. “Captain Steven Grant Rogers,” she said in her most polite voice, ignoring the gun that was still pointed at her head, “we need to talk.”
(so this turned into an idea with a real plot and I’m thinking about turning it into a full-blown fic, if there’s enough interest.)

Get out of my office, Lewis #3
Here, have a deleted scene from a fic that really didn’t need a flashback. It’s not perfect, but when is anything?
This whole mess had begun- as so many things in her life began- with Darcy sticking her finger into a pie she wasn't meant to:
“All I'm saying, Son of Coul, is that you're woefully understaffed in the mission support area, and that I am practically a computer genius, with time to kill.” Darcy had to skip every other step to keep up with Coulson's stride down the corridor.
“Ms. Lewis, you are not cleared to work mission support. You have no training, and I'm not convinced that you have either the temperament or the necessary skills to-”
“What if I told you I'd already read over all the training material, and completed the written exams and the simulations?”
“I'd say,” Coulson had deadpanned, stepping into his office and permitting her to follow, “that you would have had to not only break through a Level 4 SHIELD firewall, but somehow dupe Agent Patel-Ruiz into letting you sit the exams.”
“The systems took some time, it's true, but they aren't that much of challenge when you've already messed with Stark's crazy shit. And Patel-Ruiz is the one who suggested I study up in the first place.”
A barely-raised eyebrow screamed his skepticism.
“I'm bored here, dude. You guys gave Jane, like, five of her biggest fans, and all I need to do is make sure they sleep on a schedule, and that they don't let her eat any Hot Pockets.” Jane was banned from Hot Pockets- there had been a memo. “I could be useful to you. I want to be useful.”
It must have been the dejected way she entreated him, because Coulson had settled himself at his desk, spent a minute typing, and said without inflection, “I see you scored top marks in the written exams.” Darcy had tried not to puff up, but probably failed. Agent Coulson continued, “Your examiner noted you were overly chatty during simulations, but otherwise excelled. Agent Patel-Ruiz recommended you for immediate assignment.”
Darcy hadn't known that, and the grin that crossed her face was irrepressible.
“I see,” Coulson finished, “that the assessment was submitted to the system less than thirty minutes ago.”
She let the silence spin out a bit, trying to regain a little of the BAMF Agent feeling she'd had when Durga Patel-Ruiz had told her she'd passed with flying colors. After about two minutes of Coulson's patented stilted silence, she caved.
“So, am I hired?”
“As you said, Ms. Lewis, we are still somewhat short-handed in some departments. We could use another analyst and remote handler for active missions.”
Darcy knew “active missions” was code for the ones where bullets were flying all over the place and you had to real-time talk agents through blueprints, bomb schematics, and the location of the bad guys via heat signature. She was marginally better at those than the kind where you had to relay details about a mark into the agent's ear, translate on the fly, or help surveil using other countries' spy satellites.
“Great! When do I start?” Darcy may have bounced on her feet a bit. Hey- an analyst doesn't need to stand on their dignity and practice their thousand-yard stare, unlike field agents.
“There's an assignment in two days. I'll forward you the mission parameters and relevant files shortly. Now, please, Ms. Lewis, get out of my office.”
They must have been really short-staffed, because she'd been assigned to Captain America for her first run. The assignment had been routine: talking the Captain through a labyrinthine building he probably could have navigated himself, and then accessing the pertinent files from the system he stuck a device to, before detonating the whole caboodle.
Darcy half-thought Coulson had given her such a high-profile assignment in order to emphasize the sink-or-swim nature of her unofficial position. She'd just been grateful he hadn't given her an assignment with the Black Widow, who either made mission support irrelevant or left no room for failure. An assignment like that would have been sink, swim, or get eaten by a shark.
When she relayed her thoughts on the matter to Cap as he made his retreat, he had laughed.
So: a successful mission for him, and a laugh for her. Win-win.

Some ppl might not like this and thats perfectly fair and u can totally ignore this but um,, Wintershieldshock in a The Handmaid's Tale au, anyone? Also no powers/superhumans in this AU.
Darcy is June, Bucky is Nick, and Steve is Luke. Not sure who from the MCU could be the Waterfords tho
more plot and who-would-be-who under the cut (edited bc the tags were limited)
I see Jane as Emily/Ofglen and Nat as Moira. And like Moira, Nat escapes and lives with Steve in Canada, hopefully cooking up plans to get Darcy back and destroy Gilead with the information she has. I also see Wanda as Erin?
I can explain why Bucky would be part of Gilead/Sons of Jacob. I wanna say that maybe Bucky and Steve were in the army together and were discharged from service pre-Gilead. War hardened them both, Bucky lost an arm, Steve can’t forgive himself for it, and things just weren’t the same after they got back. While Steve tried to get better, Bucky was getting worse, mentally and financially. This leads to him getting recruited by SoJ (which is, if you think about it, HYDRA), a terrorist organization that has no qualms targeting angry and vulnerable war vets like Bucky who lost their sense of purpose. They offer him benefits he can’t refuse, namely a new arm that works just as good as his old one, if not better (It’s God’s gift to him, they said) and a new direction in life. He starts working for Commander Pierce as a spy.
Steve goes for therapy to cope with his trauma. One day, he meets Darcy, they fall in love, get married, and later have a daughter named Sarah. Steve tells Darcy about Bucky and everything they’ve been through. Every year, they invite him for holiday celebrations with the Rogers but he seldom attends them. Since his first visit, Darcy decides she doesn’t really like Bucky but she can see how much Steve and Bucky care about each other, and Bucky is Sarah’s favourite uncle who spoils her rotten, so she plays nice when he’s around. Steve thinks the ice between them is funny, his best pal and his best girl at odds with each other despite being eerily similar.
The two men eventually reconnect and catch up on the years spent apart, sharing their personal and very different struggles coping with life after the war. Everything was going well until Bucky confides in Steve about his association with SoJ. Steve begs him to leave but Bucky’s stubborn, firmly believing that SoJ could make the world better. It’s the final nail in the coffin of their childhood friendship. But even then, it’s Bucky’s name that Steve still cries out in his nightmares at night. As she holds him, Darcy finds herself hating Bucky, hating him for hurting Steve like this, hating him for ever leaving them, his family.
Then shit goes down in the US. Bucky warns Steve about Gilead going military, about the coup in the white house, he tells Steve to get his ass to Canada with Darcy and Sarah ASAP. But Steve doesn’t listen, not at first, still blinded by his disgust that Bucky is working for the SoJ but also because he stubbornly believes America can win this fight, that things will get better. They don’t. After that, it’s a race to get past the border. Unbeknownst to the Rogers, Bucky tries to help, and while he’s not there to do it himself, he calls in for a few favours. The plan goes sideways when they’re intercepted by a group of Guardians. Steve gets separated from his wife and kid (who are taken elsewhere) during the chase, gets heavily injured, but manages to cross the border with the help of a few friendlies. Meanwhile, Darcy gets sent to the Red Centre for handmaid training, thinking Steve died and that Sarah is gone forever. (So basically what happened to Luke, June, and Hannah in the flashbacks.)
During the training, she reunites with Jane and Nat. When she gets assigned to the Waterfords, she’s surprised to see Bucky as their Guardian and driver. Their reunion is not sweet, Darcy can barely look at him and has to restrain herself from lashing out at him in the presence of the resident Martha and the Waterfords. Bucky’s equally stunned, all this time he thought Steve and his family made it to Canada. He feels heavy with guilt but puts that aside, understanding now what he’s meant to do, what he was supposed to do. He vows to protect Darcy, to find Sarah, and to get them both to safety, even if she hates him along the way.
(And it’s true. She can’t stand him. How detached he is from this fucking nightmare. How obedient he is to Mr. and Mrs. Waterford. How he guards himself and his secrets, she doesn’t even recognize anymore. But mostly, how tender and gentle he is around her when they’re alone, how apologetic he is, how he smiles at her and cracks jokes to cheer her up like Gilead never happened, like he never had a fucking hand in what transpired, the fact that Steve was right, they were very alike and it was still so easy to banter with him despite all these years, despite everything, but the thing she can’t stand the most is how much he really, really reminds her of Steve.)
But things aren’t as simple in Gilead, even when you’re an Eye. It gets more complicated with Mr. Waterford being sterile. Mrs. Waterford eventually takes things into her own hands and asks Bucky to impregnate Darcy. Unfortunately, he can’t say no. When it’s done, he stays away from the Commander’s home and avoids her, unable to talk to her, look at her. Steve’s girl. Sarah’s ma. What has he done? What did he get them into?
A few nights later, Bucky wakes up to Darcy knocking on his door. It’s the first they’ve seen each other since that night, like properly seen each other and it’s her 2nd time in his room. She doesn’t say anything as she steps in, just closes the door and starts undressing. He’s calculating the risks in his head, the punishment for a handmaid caught with a guardian, but he’s too distracted by what’s happening to stop this. He can’t stop looking at her. He can’t stop wanting her. And Bucky would admit, he’s always been captivated by her beauty and strength, always wondered how Steve could get a dame like her. Fuck, he really shouldn’t be thinking of Steve right now.
When she moves forward to press her lips against his, he stops thinking and allows him to only feel. In the dark of the night, they’re given a choice, one they both offer to each other, and they take it.
A few weeks later, Bucky escorts the Waterfords on their diplomatic trip to Canada. He meets Steve and they have a very, very long conversation.
Cue angsty romantic triangle, depictions of trauma and survival, coping with grief and loss, and finding happiness in a fucked up world! And an OT3 I normally wouldn’t ship

So ... I have been poking away at various bits and pieces, and this little interlude in the Space Pirate AU No One Asked For decided it needed to be written. This particular chapter (in which Captain Lewis returns from a week off ship and encounters something she was not prepared for at all) takes place a little ways after the first part I published in the same series.
All the thanks to @dresupi for her continued handholding and encouragement of my venturing into the Shieldshock sandbox. Thanks for having me, Darcyland. :)

“You’re still driving this ostentatious thing?” Bekah asked as she pulled the car door shut behind her, blocking out the cold that seemed to penetrate into the marrow of her bones. She sighed in delight as she sunk into the pre-warmed seats, stuffing her bag near her feet.
“Hey, it still runs perfectly well. It’s not like I use it a lot on campus, and besides, nothing says ‘party’ like a purple Mustang,” Clint replied, pulling down his sunglasses with a grin. It was really good to see Bekah one on one; most of the time she was with her parents or her brother, or they were all together in a group, but it’d been awhile since they’d had solo hang time. His mind turned back to the time they’d spent together in high school, just the two of them, and Clint realized just how much he’d missed her, which was more than he thought. Random texts and cat memes just weren’t the same. “Tell me, Bekah, what have you been doing in the land of Snakes and Tarantulas?”
Bekah laughed as they settled onto the highway, his question in quintessential ‘Clint’ speak, and lucky for them both, she’d gotten fluent in the language. She launched into the story of going out to Joshua Tree State Park, and getting to watch the tarantula migration in early October.
“It’s like it’s out of a freaking sci-fi movie. The sun sets and you’re sitting in the truck bed, and then all of the sudden these fuzzy black and brown things dig themselves out of the ground and start moving and skittering around. It was so cool. We even had night vision goggles,” Bekah explained, her hands moving as she imitated the spiders coming out of the ground and crossing across the road ways. “Seriously. It was one of the most amazing nature things I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been sneezed on by a Galapagos marine iguana.”
The stories Bekah brought back from school were always entertaining, and while the idea of watching spiders crawl out of the ground might have been exciting to her, Clint held a healthy dose of skepticism. Not that he hated spiders or anything, he just wasn’t as overly passionate. “Was it better than being thrown up on by a circus-level gymnast after a full day at Disney?”
“Yes, Clint,” Bekah deadpanned, “it was better than you throwing up on me after the teacups ride.”

Shieldshock Prompt Fic
For @caitriona-3
Shieldshock (skinny Steve)
Prompt: “I meant it when I said I would protect you.”
“Let her go.”
Darcy, caught in the grip of a freakishly strong kidnapper, heard her husband’s familiar voice and panicked even more. Steve was gonna get himself killed!
It was quite a switch from the way things used to be, when he’d barge in and easily knock out the baddies with his fists or his shield. Steve was not that guy anymore, having been reverted to his pre-Serum state in an attack six months ago.
Darcy loved him no matter what his size, but this Steve caused her more stress and she frequently sympathized with Bucky over his reckless bravery.
Ordinarily, Darcy would have used the moves Natasha had taught her to break free and tase an attacker, but this guy was something else. He’d already wrecked her taser. She just wanted to get one good kick to his balls….
“And what are you going to do to make me?” The Thug said, laughing disdainfully at Steve, who was practically vibrating with fury.
Darcy shook her head, silently begging him to not do something stupid. He didn’t have super healing anymore.
It happened so fast, she didn’t notice the taser until the attacker had collapsed and started convulsing and she’d found herself on the floor.
Steve ran forward to help her up.
“Are you okay?” He asked worriedly, blue eyes checking her carefully.
“Yeah,” she breathed. “Nice work, Quick Draw. He never saw it coming. Tony’s latest model?”
Steve nodded, turning the taser over in his hand.
“Now I get why you like them so much.”
“Isn’t it fun?” She said, grinning triumphantly as the other Avengers poured onto the scene, quickly removing the Thug.
“I was afraid you were going to try fighting him with your bare hands like you did with Thanos,” Darcy told him. “I’m glad you were prepared this time.”
Steve put his arms around her and gave her one of his adoringly earnest looks.
“I meant it when I said I would protect you, Darce,” he told her. “Small or big.”
She chuckled hysterically and hugged him tightly. The protectiveness definitely went both ways as Darcy was well known to get aggressive with anyone who would bully or hurt her husband.
“Oh, Steve. I love you, you crazy man.” She sighed, kissing his prominent cheekbone.
“Crazy for you, sweetheart,” he replied softly, making her insides go all mushy again.
“Hey lovebirds, save the PDA for later,” she heard Bucky remark in a tone of playful disgust.
In response, Steve, being the troll he was, kissed Darcy very thoroughly. The groans of their friends’ annoyance were sweet music to their ears.

Title: A Hand to Hold, sequel to Renegade Child
Summary: Doctor Darcy Lewis, specialist in astrophysics, half-human, half-alien, all smartass, is a survivor. She’s survived the loss of her mother, Susan, the knowledge of being one of the last surviving members of her race, the loss of half the life in the universe and the sudden return of everyone.
She’s survived losing her friends...her best friend. And yeah, the entire world is missing Captain America right now, but she’s missing Steve Rogers, the friend who had her back no matter what, who listened to her hopes and fears, and who kept all of her secrets.
But...he’s dead, right?
So why the hell is she, out of the blue, getting a text message from her supposedly dead best friend asking for help?
**********
The very long delayed sequel to Renegade Child, an MCU/Doctor Who crossover tale in a post-Endgame, post-WandaVision world (technically not post-Falcon and Winter Soldier...yet). Also a ShieldShock story, but they’re still in that pre-relationship stage because these two definitely quality for the ‘idiots in unspoken love’ tag in this universe.
Somehow I managed to write this out in two days, because muses are fickle creatures...and my muse had her grubby little paws on the salt shaker again. This is entirely unrelated to last week’s EndGame fix-it, and posits a different twist (and, dare I say, a more in character one *grumbles disgruntedly*) to what we saw on screen. So, even if you’re not familiar with Doctor Who (and you don’t really need to be in order to understand this story because I cannot keep up with 60 years of canon) I hope you give it a chance and that you’re entertained by it!

A 2020 Shieldshock Holiday Exchange fic for @typhoidmeri. (I hope I did your lovely prompt justice!)
Darcy Lewis was fully intending to spend the holidays alone. With Jane out of town with her boyfriend’s family, and her not entirely being on speaking terms with her own, she figured she’d make the best of it.
But that was before her neighbour Steve stepped in with an offer of a warm meal and a gathering of friends.
Maybe the holidays aren’t so bad after all...

A Thousand Years (Shieldshock)
Thanos was defeated, but the relief of victory was soured by its high cost. Steve struggled with feelings of grief and despair, still seeing Natasha’s final smile and hearing her “see you in a minute” promise that she had been unable to keep.
He was so tired of fighting, tired of losing people, tired of being a figurehead. He just wanted it to end. Now that Sam and Bucky had returned along with the millions of other souls, Steve felt like it was about time for him to pass on the shield to someone else and live a peaceful life with a wife, a house, white picket fence and a couple dogs. Before that could happen, he had a job to do returning the infinity stones. Of course, returning the stones meant traveling back in time, and he was planning a little detour to find her and bring her home.
Darcy Lewis had abruptly appeared in his life over seventy years ago, before he’d had the serum and gone off to war. She’d changed his world and stolen his heart in a shockingly short time and he’d do anything to get her back.
He’d been shocked when the stunning brunette had approached him and said his words.
“Hey Brooklyn. I’m a little lost. Care to help a girl out?”
He’d gaped and stammered out a wobbly “Sure. Where d’ya need to go?”
He couldn’t believe that such a pretty gal had even spoken to him, let alone said his Words. That wasn’t the end of the surprises, though. Turned out, the dame claimed she’d traveled back in time from the future, 2018 to be exact.
Steve had wondered if she was a bit loony, but she was very convincing and produced evidence in the form of a very strange phone that even had skeptic Bucky convinced.
“So you’re sayin’ I’m still alive in your time?” Steve asked incredulously. “How?”
Darcy had smiled mysteriously at him.
“Now that I can’t tell you, but I can tell you that you are a babe magnet in my time.”
Steve had flushed.
“Now you’re just pulling my leg,” he’d muttered.
In what universe could he: skinny, sickly, Steve, be the object of that kind of interest? He was lucky enough that his soulmate liked him.
As the days went by and Darcy was still living with them, he could tell she was nervous about being stuck in this time period, but when he asked, she would just sigh and say, “Jane will figure it out eventually. I’m more worried about you getting the crap beat out of you everyday. Seriously, Steve. You’ve got to quit it. I’d much prefer you be in one piece.”
“That’s what Bucky always says,” Steve said ruefully, dabbing away blood from his lip.
“Bucky’s a smart guy,” she replied, kissing the bruises on his cheek.
Once she’d been there a few months, she’d taken a job waitressing to help “earn her keep” and even though both Steve and Bucky had told her it wasn’t necessary, they eventually admitted it was a big help.
Then Bucky left for the war and Steve eventually followed, albeit in a much more unconventional style.
He could tell Darcy knew about his fate, given the hints she’d dropped about him being in her history books, but she wouldn’t say what it was, just kissed him goodbye with tears in her eyes and clutched him tightly as long as she could.
“I’m not coming back, am I?” He asked quietly.
Darcy leaned her head on his chest and sighed.
“Probably not the way you intended to, no. But I’m pretty sure we’ll meet again one day.”
“We will,” he said firmly, hands cupping her face gently. “I promise you, Darcy Lewis, I will come back to you one way or another.”
She smiled at him tearily.
“I’ll hold you to it, Steve,” she’d whispered. “I love you.”
When he’d woken up in 2012, he’d begun to try to search for her, but it turned out Avenging left little time for soulmate searching. His mark remained a vivid blue, so he was comforted by the knowledge that somewhere she was alive and well. For several years, it felt like the universe was conspiring against him ever finding her again, but now, finally, it was time. He’d done some internet research and found that Darcy had been missing since two days before the snap, and had not returned with the others, confirming his suspicions that she was still stuck in the forties. He’d had a long phone conversation with an emotional Jane Foster, who had asked him just as many questions as he had her, but was very supportive of his attempt to retrieve his soulmate.
“Please text me as soon as you get back, one way or the other,” she’d begged. “I feel so bad about what happened. I should never have let her in the room when I was conducting those tests. When she gets back, I’m going to demand all the details about her being wooed by pre-serum Steve. I bet it was adorable.”
Steve had laughed and blushed, and promised to contact her.
He ended up in 1946 Brooklyn, heart pounding as he approached his old apartment. Please let her be there. Please let her be there.
He knocked on the door. There she was, as beautiful as the day they’d met.
The blue eyes widened with shock and filled up with happy tears.
“Steve?” she whispered.
“Darcy,” he murmured, as she threw her arms around him.
“Steve!”
“I’ve come to bring you home, sweetheart. I’m sorry it took me so long.”
“You had bad guys to fight, a Bucky to save, and SHIELD to purge. I totally get it. Wait--by home, do you mean the twenty-first century?”
“Yes, Darcy, I do. I need my soulmate back and Doctor Foster misses you very much.”
“How did you……? Oh, never mind. I should know by now NEVER to doubt the scientists three.”
Darcy hugged him again and he held her close, so happy to find her at last. There was going to be a lot to talk about when they returned, both pleasant and unpleasant, but they had each other to lean on now.
“Hmm. You’re so much bigger in person,” Darcy commented, eyeing him up and down. “I’ve only ever seen this version of you from afar. This is gonna make kissing you harder.”
Steve grinned.
“Well, there are ways around that,” he said, winking at her saucily and lifting her up to kiss her soundly.
“Ohhh, yeeessss!” Darcy moaned, when he released her. “I guess your new muscles ARE good for something, after all.”
They were both laughing as they disappeared.
All along I believed I would find you, Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years, I’ll Love You for a thousand more.

So....
Even though I have other WIPs I should be focusing on, even though it isn’t the ship I usually write...
I did a thing.
A thing that will eventually be a ShieldShock thing.
Otherwise known as The Space Pirate AU No One Asked For, or In Which Darcy Lewis Captains A Spaceship And Takes On Strays (Including a Very Good-Looking Passenger)
A million thank yous to @dresupi for being my beta and for encouraging me in this particular jaunt.

How about 11 for ShieldShock. :D
Darcy/Steve + “You should be kissed, and often, and by someone who knows how.” 1940s AU with Pre-Serum Steve, because I love him.
“What was it this time?” Darcy huffs, pressing the steak from her icebox to Steve’s slowly blackening eye before setting it back in its place. It might be the fifth or sixth time so far that she’s found him bruised up in an alley with an asshole or two kicking him while he’s down. And as powerful as it makes her feel to land the blows Bucky’s taught her - that he’s taught both of them - that knock a guy out who least expects it, all that satisfaction melts away by the time she tucks herself into Steve’s shoulder and leads him back to her apartment.
“Muggin’,” Steve grumbles, only wincing a little when she dabs at his split lip. “On the bright side, I got the gal’s purse back.”
“Steve.” She leans back against her bed, letting her head bounce on the mattress. “Is it really so hard to call for help? Or...I don’t know, throw something from a distance where you’re not likely to get your ass kicked?”
“You know if I see a bad spot I gotta do somethin’.” He pushes himself across the floor to sit cross-legged beside her, looking into his lap with a thin blush across his cheeks. “Just sorry you gotta pick up my pieces all the time.”
Like she’s done so many times before, Darcy laces her fingers between Steve’s and rests her head on his shoulder. It’s hard not to soften at his honesty - for as long as she’s known him, all he’s ever wanted is to do what’s right, damn the rest. If it didn’t cost him a constant beating and her, her sanity over his constant beatings, she’d be totally behind that cause.
“Well, Bucky’s not here to finish the fights you start, so…”
He smiles and gently nudges her knee with his. “I kinda like seeing you finish ‘em. You’re like my...guardian angel with flyin’ fists.”
She snorts. “He must’ve really rung your bell on that one, Stevie.”
“No, really.” His thumb strokes a small circle over the side of her hand, a small movement that shouldn’t send a wave of butterflies to her stomach. Darcy swallows, and leans into his side. “I see ya standin’ over me, sometimes I...think I could kiss you.”
Her heart jumps into her throat. “And why don’t you?”
He sits straighter, pulling himself away from her, everything except his hand in hers. “‘Cause you deserve somebody who knows how to kiss. Somebody who’d kiss you off your feet, till you couldn’t see straight, day and night. Not somebody who...couldn’t kiss you for more than a second without passin’ out.”
“That ain’t true,” she mumbles, and pulls his hand back into her lap. “I bet you could kiss for...ten seconds without passin’ out.”
A forlorn little laugh escapes his lips. “C’mon, Darce.”
She adjusts her body to face him, sitting cross-legged like a couple of teenagers hiding from their parents. “Dare you to try.”
His nose bumps softly against hers, but when Steve kisses his best friend for the first time, it’s like she’s been waiting her whole life to kiss him back.
For the record, their first kiss lasts for all of fifteen seconds or so. Every kiss after that kind of blends together, until he’s got her off her feet, until she can’t see straight, until night falls over Brooklyn.
When they finally break apart, because it’s Darcy who’s forgotten how to breathe right, her back to her bed and her blouse forgotten on the floor, she smiles and presses her lips to the tip of his nose as she catches her breath. “Told you.”

Happy birthday!! 🎉😊🎂🎉 For your 'Fic I won't write' thing: Ship: Shieldshock (duh. I'm so basic) Title: Visiting Hours
okay…
- modern!cap bumping into sick!darcy while hiding from paparazzi while he was doing non-avengers volunteering at the kids ward. Basically immortal superhero falling in love with dying girl. SAD.
- modern!cap doing official suited up visiting at kids ward meets adorable kid and their beautiful mother. Basically Darcy word vomits all over him because she’s scared and stressed and doesn’t haven’t anyone else to lean on. Steve happily offers himself as a shoulder to lean on. Kid is fine - NOT SAD.
- modern!cap gets seriously injured on a mission and even with increased healing requires weeks of bed rest, which he hates. more canon!Darcy is assigned to visit him on the regular to keep him occupied and make sure he keeps his ass in bed. Basically she annoys him into liking her.
- modern pre-serum Steve stuck in hospital again, strikes up friendship with candy-striper Darcy. As much as he likes her he’s convinced she’s only nice to him because she has to be, and he’s never going to see her again once he’s out of hospital. Darcy sets out to prove his stubborn ass wrong.

Mini writing PSA:
Due to Endgame coming out and pre-occupying a lot of people’s minds, including mine, there won’t be a new fic today. Yes, I have one all set to go. But I think we need a week off. It’ll be up next Monday, and hopefully this will also give me some extra time to get a bit ahead of my schedule, but who knows with these feels. (If I can get ahead, I’ll go back to posting on Mondays and Wednesdays!)
Be kind to yourself everyone ❤
Fics ready to go: - Not a Princess but a Queen - Lady Loki x Gender Neutral Reader fic! ❤ - Goo of Green, Stealer of Shoes - Shieldshock fic! ❤ - The Black and White of it - Loki Laufeyson x F!Reader! ❤ - Beyond the Dance Floor - Loki Laufeyson x Bi!Reader //Loki Laufeyson x WOC!Reader ❤
Untitled fics in progress: - Loki x F!Reader ❤ - Shieldshock ❤ - Wade Wilson & Peter Parker; Super Friends ❤ - Peter Parker x M!Reader, that’s going to take some time, (I already have over 600 words and I’m not done yet) but damn it fluffy (special thanks to @heartbreaker6995 for the encouragement on this one) ❤ Things I hope to get to soon: - Finishing up the Fluff Bingo prompts from last year. Yes, I know it’s past the “play by date” but the fic ideas that @mee2themoo and I bounced around with each other & a few other ideas I had for other fics, are just TOO FLUFFY TO ABANDON!!! ❤ - Original Short Stories. I eventually plan to publish a short story collection filled with OC’s and Magical Realism that are inspired by various Myths and those delicious odd bits that stir my heart. ❤
So much for that being a mini PSA.
Obligatory Loki Love:
p.s. as of 5/21/19, updated with fic links ❤
