I've been thinking a lot about the depictions of generational trauma and parental accountability being presented in dramas lately. Since you've watched way more than me, especially outside of BLs, what are some shows that present or include parental accountability?

This is such a good question and one I have been thinking about a lot since Last Twilight episode 10 aired. Westerners often assume that because of Asian cultural norms around filial piety, parental authority, and respect for elders, we can never expect satisfying parental accountability in our Asian drama narratives. But that's not true! It's been done and done well. It’s because these values are so deeply embedded in most Asian cultures that Asian creators are the best positioned to speak on the harms they can cause, and will often embed these themes in their work.

Now, there is an important distinction to make here: the difference between what characters do, and what the story communicates. A character may choose to abide by honoring their parents at all costs, but the story can still communicate how harmful that is. A character may never apologize for something they have done wrong, but the story can still make it clear they have fucked up and hold them accountable for that via tangible consequences. Here are a few examples from bl to illustrate what I mean, and the different ways this can show up in dramas.

Bad Buddy

One of the most obvious examples of parental accountability in genre, and also a pretty full metal version of it. This entire story is about the damage Ming and Dissaya did their sons with their decades-long feud and insistence on pushing that trauma down on their children, and we got some extremely cathartic scenes of Pat and Pran telling their parents exactly what they thought about that. Of course, even though they raged at their parents, they never got the apologies they deserved (and likely never will) and still had to hide their relationship to appease their parents going forward. But that doesn't mean there was no accountability here. The entire narrative held these parents accountable by showing us how they were harming their sons, forcing them to reckon with it, and ultimately showing them settling into a form of resigned acceptance.

Until We Meet Again

This entire show is about Korn and In's reincarnated souls healing from the trauma of their tragic ending, which was brought upon by the familial pressure and rejection they experienced from their fathers. We not only saw Dean and Pharm work through this trauma and forge new bonds with family members, we saw the direct aftermath of their first deaths, the despair and regret their families felt, and the ceremony that tied their souls together as a result. It's big karmic accountability on a grand scale, and the show never flinched from letting us see exactly how much harm was caused by these parents, or how the tenets of filial piety resulted in Korn's despair that he couldn't be what his father wanted. Even more crucially, we were shown, not just told, the counterpoint impact of good parenting, when Dean and Pharm were accepted by their families in their second life.

Blueming

A rare example of an Asian parent being called to the carpet, feeling the wrongness of their actions, and actually apologizing for it. This does in fact happen in drama! Si Won's mom raised him to hate himself, to be ashamed of his body, to fake his way through life so people would like him, and boy did it do a lot of damage. The story showed us how this affected Si Won and his relationships deeply, and brought him to the point where it finally burst out of him. And his mom, to her credit, was dismayed to understand what she had done to her son. This show also gets bonus points for Da Un standing up to his own mother after she interferes in the film contest.

Bed Friend

Uea's mother's sins against him are numerous, and I will not go into them all in detail to spare my own sanity. She is an abusive parent so horrific that she can never be forgiven, and doesn't need to be. An apology from her would be utterly meaningless. Instead, the drama holds her to account via showing us what she's done to Uea and the work he has to do to heal from the trauma she caused, and ultimately having her son cut her out of his life. It's the biggest consequence she can ever face for her choices and that Uea finds the courage to do it is the story's biggest triumph.

What Did You Eat Yesterday?

On the subtler end of the scale, we have our beloved KNT, which weaves parental accountability through its story in the long, slow journey for Shiro's mother to accept who he is and the partner he has chosen in life. What I love most about this particular depiction is that it's not at all linear in nature. We see her make strides by finally acknowledging Kenji and inviting him to her home, and then backtrack by rescinding the offer due to her own discomfort, and then include him in her family planning to ensure he will be cared for after her death. She’s homophobic and traditional, but she loves her son and sees how much happier he is with Kenji in his life. She is constantly reckoning with that tension. And Shiro and Kenji, being of an older generation themselves, don't hold it against her, even as the show makes sure we understand how much it hurts them. They are not okay with it, but they do understand why she's like this, so they take what she can give and forgive the rest. It's a really touching portrayal of this kind of impasse in a family.

Moonlight Chicken

There are several different vectors of parental accountability in MLC. There is Heart confronting his parents over their neglect and abuse and finally demanding to be treated with dignity. There is Li Ming directly calling out his mother for how her life choices have affected him. And there is Li Ming and his surrogate dad, Jim, working out their issues so that they can communicate better, and so that Jim can learn to stop pushing his own fears and anxiety down onto the next generation. All of it handled with deftness, with care, and with clear purpose to examine the ways intergenerational trauma can perpetuate in the absence of accountability.

When Pat was five, his dad had taught him how to swim.

When Pat was five, his dad had taught him how to swim. His mom hadn't been the biggest fan, but Pat knew the rule by now - what his father wanted was usually what the rest of them got. It made sense though, because his dad was so confident, and smart, and right.

"It's just as easy as this," his dad used to tell him, paddling his hands in the water as Pat held onto the edge and tried to mimic the movement. It wasn't easy when he didn't have anyone to hold him steady - but then, Pat had to hold himself steady, didn't he?

"No," his dad said, "like this," and repeated it again and again until by some miracle Pat did it. "There you go! There's my brilliant son!"

Pat lived for moments like this - that he was his dad's favorite and was the only person he ever had to impress. His dad knew he was well-liked and talented and expected more, because he knew Pat was capable of more. Pat wanted to meet his expectations. And for a long time, he wanted to surpass them.

He wouldn't ever forget that day - when Paa was crying in the water, and Pat was frozen in shock. It wasn't him but Pran who came to the rescue, who helped Paa out of the water, who soothed her and told her it was going to be okay. Pat was supposed to be her dependable big brother - but in that moment he felt like nothing but a huge idiot who had to have the dumb boy next door come to his rescue.

He told Paa they wouldn't tell their parents, but it wasn't because he didn't want Paa to get in trouble. It was because he didn't want to see the look on his dad's face, his voice when he would say to Pat, Didn't I teach you how to swim? Pat ran through the scenarios a million times in his head, hearing his dad say different things - Since when do you let the boy next door outdo you? Why couldn't you react sooner? Did I raise a failure? No, Pat vowed to himself, at all of twelve years old. He was taking this to the grave.

Several years later he would plead to his dad, "I had to hate Pran because of you?" barely able to see past his own tears, feeling like he was drowning. But he had it right when he was five - his dad was never going to be the one to hold him steady. He couldn't depend on his dad for help, he had to depend on himself.

And maybe the boy next door, too.

That was a lovely episode of fluff (thanks P’Aof) but can we talk about Pat’s family?

Pran’s family this episode was shown to be very open and accepting on everything bar the neighbors next door (what the fuck did they do?). And that’s something we’ve actually seen. When Pran told them about his Class President election, they were more concerned for his workload then the prestige and bragging rights that come with the title.

But Pat’s family? Pat’s family seems entirely different. And this is why I think it’s going to be Pat’s father who is the main antagonist among the families.

I think Pran was able to figure out his feelings much sooner than Pat because his family isn’t as stifling, despite what the aesthetics say. He probably was aware of his sexuality cause he felt that that wouldn’t be a problem with his parents. The only problem his parents cared about was being better then the kid next door.

Pat’s dad on the other hand? Pat’s dad is subtly terrifying. He is clearly incredibly Misogynistic and the picture of toxic masculinity. And you can see this in his treatment of his daughter. His daughter has to do her brothers laundry. His daughter should go to her brother’s dorm and clean up after him because he doesn’t have a girlfriend to do so yet. When Pa was talking about Pat eating all the food, the father brushed her off saying Pat needed it so just let him have it.

This episode we got even more. When Pat got the car, Pa made a comment on how nice it must be to be the son. When the dad FaceTimed Pa, he asked to speak to his son and then asked his son to come home for free food. Pat had to be the one to extend the invitation to Pa by saying he’d bring her with him. Even though she is the one leaving home for the first time.

But more so than that, we see Pat’s father’s obsession with reputation. It’s been a consistent theme over the show. But it got a lot more obvious in this episode. Pat specifically said he didn’t want to play rugby, but his father bulldozed over him saying that his son must protect his reputation. It was the same thing he did with the music concert (and was how Pat got his professor to let them back in. Because his father’s reputation was on the line).

And looking at that, it’s kind of telling that Pat is the one who constantly talks about the pressure of needing to compare himself to Pran. Knowing his GPA and what sports he is involved in. Pran mostly talks about the pressure of having to hate someone he doesn’t actually hate. As if Pat’s father forced Pat to compete, and hatred was a byproduct, and Pran’s mom forced him to hate, and competing came along with it.

And when we met Pat in episode one, he was probably just a carbon copy of his father. Harping about how he needs to save his reputation and having an icy heart towards everyone. “Don’t mess with him. He’ll fight anyone who so much as looks as him funny”. Without Pran there to rise and meet him on his level, to force himself to be treated as an equal, or at least an equal rival, Pat totally devolved. His life was more peaceful, but the lack someone who would keep him on his toes, challenge him, made him go on autopilot and let his dad take the wheel.

All of this added up and I don’t think we will leave this show without homophobia. I cannot see how Pat’s father, with his toxic machismo and his need for his son to be a mini me, would be accepting of Pat dating a guy.

"Family is not always right”: Bad Buddy The Series Episode 10 - A Letter

Okay, first and foremost, hi everyone! This isn’t a part of my weekly posts about my Bad Buddy Episode Recaps. This discourse focuses on the last few scenes alone and not the whole episode.

So to start, I’ve actually watched the whole episode last night and I had the whole day to really think about what to write. I just finished writing my Episode 9 recap last night as well and I just posted it a few hours ago - I haven’t even edited it yet, I wasn’t able to add some photos and GIFs -, but I really had a compulsion that I should write something about Episode 10 right away (before the hype dies down). I felt like I needed to take this out of my chest to be able to write a proper recap and review later.

The scene where both Pat and Pran confronted both of their families are  very emotional, alright. They showed us the acting prowess of both Ohm and Nanon. However, what I want to talk about is the issue behind it.

So turns out, Pat’s dad - I guess his name was Ming? - and Pran’s mom - her mom’s name was Dissaya - were both acquaintances in high school. Not just acquaintances, they probably got along really well to the point of having a romantic relationship in a given period of time. According to Ms. Payao (?), both Ming and Dissaya were the best of their classes - basically just like their sons - and would oftentimes compete together in school-wide and even local competitions. 

However they had a falling out before their graduation and Ms. Payao didn’t know what the real reason was. They just thought Dissaya, even being too brilliant, disappeared.

The reason was revealed in a confrontation between Dissaya and Ming in the later part of the episode. Turns out, it was because of Ming stealing  Dissaya’s scholarship from the university.

Now that we get the story straight, let’s try to dive in!

First, I would like to tell everyone that during the whole episode I was in Dissaya’s side. Because who wouldn’t? If they were fighting over business matters alone, I would’ve dismissed it as a nonsense fight to begin with. But it wasn’t and Dissaya’s anger towards Ming was completely called for. Her feelings are validated and we don’t have the right to tell her otherwise.

I could only imagine her despair when she’d known that Ming - her friend - stole her scholarship - her whole future ahead of her - and to think he just ended up inheriting his family’s business? That probably devastated her. I mean, Ming stole the whole future ahead of her just to continue the legacy of his family. HE COULD’VE JUST WENT TO SCHOOL NORMALLY.

Ugh, frustrating.

But yeah, that wasn’t the real problem in the present. Instead, the problem is that, why did they pass this feeling of hater to their next generations in the first place?

I was extremely disappointed, to be honest. I’ve always believed that problems from the previous generations should never be shouldered by the next generations and that’s what exactly happened here.

No child should ever be subjected to such experience. 

I feel so strongly compelled that I felt for Pat and Pran so much to the point that  I was literally prepared to throw hands last night. Because of their parents, Pat and Pran missed the best of their lives. They grew up with each other without even being friends and that left a huge scar in the both of them. And when they did get closer, both of them were separated not because of their own circumstances but their parents. How shitty is that?!

They are forced to compete with each other because of the issue they never even started in the first place. They were forced to hate one another because of a reason which turned out to be a big fat lie.

God knows how they wanted to be with one another. Their personalities clicked, their hobbies were basically similar, they were both intelligent - they could’ve been best friends or even lovers while still in high school. They could’ve lived the best of their lives together, but because of something they’re not even involved in, they ended up feeling the exact opposite.

But what hurts me (as a psychology major) the most is the fact that their parents knew this. They knew that their sons were getting along but instead of supporting it, they literally broke them apart propagating more hate between them. I mean what is the reason? Because they hate each other? Well, surprise surprise everyone, your sons aren’t YOU so even if you’re their parents, you literally don’t have the right to choose whom your sons get along with.

I was really disappointed with Ming though. Dissaya’s hatred was validated. But whatever Ming did to Pat is beyond forgivable. He literally brainwashed the child to hate Pran to the point that Pat was confused as to what to really feel when he saw Pran’s goodness and was able to get closer to the guy. I mean, I understand. We’re Asian and we know how our parents put pressure into our shoulders (I’ve experienced that too because I was once an engineering student myself, born in the family of engineers). But, really, does that give him the right to lie to his son in hating the family next door? More than anything, Ming should teach them to be apologetic.

I mean, if Ming didn’t steal Dissaya’s scholarship to begin with, then none of everything would probably happen. But instead of apologizing, or even being apologetic, he added fuel to the fire and started to lie about the family next door TO THEIR OWN SON AND DAUGHTER, fabricating absurd tales on how that family wronged them in any way horrible possible, how amazing is that? No wonder Pat was really angry and disappointed when he found out. I mean, he have the right to. He literally thought the innocent, silent guy next door who just wanted to play his guitar and draw, was his nemesis his entire life when the real enemy here is his dad.

Pat and Pran are innocent. They should never have been involved with everything in the first place. But what happened was, they’ve been entangled with the curse that bind them off to move forward - the hatred their families have with each other. I mean, giving the circumstances, if they weren’t found out from the start, they’re families would’ve forced them to hate each other until the day they died, you know.

But that’s also probably the reason why they’re so drawn out to each other in the first place. They were trying so hard to correct the mistakes their parents did in the past that they got along really well, even ending up with one another. They even thought of ways for their parents to get along.

Too bad, they didn’t know that at that time, the problem was more harrowing than expected.

But but but... What’s good was, even after everything, Pat still went for Pran - still choosing him even after what he discovered - and Pran still choosing Pat to be his comfort person even after what happened.

THAT’S THE RIGHT THING Y’ALL! 

Just because people around you never got along, doesn’t mean you too should also not get along. Pat and Pran already lost three years because of this toxic hatred that they never even want to take part in in the first place, so I think the decision of being together is well validated enough.

There will come a time that they will be asked to choose, and I think, given the mental and emotional torture they’ve been through, I will always support them choosing their own happiness over others. And if that happiness lies with them being with each another, so be it. I approve.

Every time Dissaya sees one of Ming’s family members around town, she always dreads the awful coincidences of life. It is a big town, so it shouldn't be this easy to see one of them at her favorite grocery store or at the market buying fish. 

When it isn’t Ming or his wife, it’s one of the kids and Dissaya never knows if it’s better or worse. When their eyes happen to meet, the girl is quick to turn around and avoid crossing paths, the boy - he is defiant. His eyes always shine with questions, accusations that make a fire burn inside her.

The more he grows, the more she sees Ming in his stance. Not the adult, but the boy she grew up with, loud and bright, a man she thought she could trust, a friend who became a traitor.

When Pran told her about their relationship, she remembered being seventeen and bright and full of expectations, and she wanted to take her son and run away. Because Ming’s falseness, though devastating, could never be as tragic as a lover’s betrayal.

She sees him at the mall, six months after Pran’s graduation. The girl walking with him is beautiful and when she fumbles with her bags, he offers to carry them for her. They laugh together as she shows him something on her phone and he throws an arm over her shoulders as Dissaya watches them walk away.

She thinks about Pran, locked in his room at home, working on his resume because he’s thinking about applying for a job in Singapore, remembers him coming home at the weekends alone and always avoiding her questions about a new love interest.

Dissaya might not know Pran as well as she thought she did, and that is a feeling she’s still struggling with, but she knows one thing - a love like he felt, a love so strong he’d risk lying to her, that love does not easily go away.

The next time she sees him at the mall, he’s having a meal with his sister and the girl she saw with him all those months ago. Sitting outside the restaurant near one of Dissaya’s favorite shoe stores, they don’t notice her watching them curiously, gasping softly when the girl and Pat’s sister share a soft kiss.

Surprised, Dissaya finds herself staring at the empty spot next to Pat and imagining it should’ve been occupied by another man, a man who reminds her a lot of her own son.

It does not make sense, she tells herself. It shouldn’t feel like this, she shouldn’t feel guilty or - or sad that Pat is alone. She shouldn’t regret not giving them a chance. It is too late now, more than a year has gone by, Pran is about to move to another country, they - they could have been and yet -

They aren’t.

This time, she hears his voice before she sees him.

“You’ve been in Singapore for two months and you miss our snacks?” The voice asks. “I feel betrayed.”

When she peeks from behind the shelf, he sees Pat stuffing his shopping cart with extra hot Tao Kae Noi. The person he’s with on the phone says something and Pat laughs softly, reaching for a different flavor. “Alright, alright.” He says. “I will send them today.” The whispered I love you, too, is fond and Dissaya’s heart squeezes painfully inside her chest.

It’s not as surprising as it should be and though she feels deceived by the lie, the hurt is quickly replaced by a deep regret and an uncertainty about the future and her relationship with Pran. Their lives have always revolved around a lie and with a shaky breath she realizes she doesn’t know how to have an honest relationship with her own son.

They don’t talk about it and she spends a long time wondering how long it has been. Months? Years? Have they ever actually broken up?

“Does it matter?” Her husband asks and she concedes the unexpected truth.

It doesn’t.

She tells herself Pran is an adult, his love life doesn’t concern her anymore. Pran comes home for Christmas and she pretends to be imagining the soft moans that come from his bedroom late at night.

Before he leaves, she hugs him tightly and makes him promise he is happy. His eyes shine with unshed tears, but he hugs her back just as tightly. “I am.” He says.

Dissaya notices him watching the neighbor’s house sadly as the taxi takes him away, and when she looks up, Pat is by the window, watching the car disappear in the distance.

As she brings a hand up to wipe her own tears, she notices Pat doing the same.

“Will you ever be able to forgive him?” Her husband asked one night.

“I don’t know.” She answered.

“Ah,” he chuckled. Upon her curious stare, he kissed her softly and added, “a few years ago you would’ve said no.”

Pran has been back in Thailand for the entirety of two months when Dissaya walks into the store and stops next to him.

Another coincidence, she thinks. All she wanted was to buy a gift for her mother and here he is again.

“Do you need help?” She asks, holding back a smile when Pat startles, eyes widening. She holds his gaze, defiant. 

“I -” he tries, clearing his throat, ears burning red before finally admitting defeat, “yes?”

“Good.” She declares, expression softening when she notices the rings he chose. “Are you getting them engraved?”

Pat fell first

I’ve been rewatching certain parts of Bad Buddy and thinking about when P’Aof said that Pat and Pran probably fell for each other around the same time, but Pran acknowledged his feelings first.

But like what if Pat fell first? Throughout his childhood, he was taught to hate the kid next door, but Pat’s perspective and feelings towards Pran probably shifted after he saved Pa. I bet he’s the one who initiated their friendship by using the tin can telephone.

Growing up, Pat always noticed Pran, even through the corner of his eye, like how Pran used to look at him when he was being punished. There must’ve been countless moments when Pat treated Pran differently than he would a friend that made Pran start liking him. But at the time, Pat didn’t think he could ever like a guy, he didn’t know he had that option. So, when there’s a new pretty girl in class, it’s natural for him to like her. 

Even so, there’s always something about Pran that made him do silly things like cutting out his student ID to make Pran a guitar pick. When Pran’s parents transferred him, Pat chased after him with his guitar, and when it’s too late, he kept the guitar. He hid it from his parents, maintained its condition, cleaned it, probably tuned it too. How else would an abandoned guitar look new? You’d think that with Pran out of the picture, he’d try to get together with Ink, bc that’s what kids his age would do. But he didn’t, because when Pran’s away, it was so depressingly lonely for him. 

When Pat met Pran again in college, he promised Pa he wouldn’t hurt him. That’s it. But he didn’t just do that, he always took it further, he always went the extra mile. He gave Pran a clean shirt, his shirt, to make sure he didn’t get in trouble with his mom. He also remembered small things about Pran, like how picky he was with food and his thing with matching chopsticks.

What’s that look, Pat?

Then, despite insisting he had nothing to do with it, Pat continuously tried to get Pran to talk to him after their friends destroyed the bus stop. He also made sure his friends took responsibility for bullying Wai. He scolded them, apologized for them, and manipulated them to help rebuild the bus stop.

Yes, Pat, why are you frustrated for them?

Like the extra boi that he is, he also gave Pran the idea to find sponsors and insisted on going with him to meet the investors. Then, when the company declined their request, Pat jumped in to pitch a new idea that the company approved.

What’s that look, Pat? (2)

Not to mention, he also begged his professor to allow both bands back in the Freshy Music Contest bc he knew how much Pran loved music. He also returned his guitar in pristine condition, patted his head, and did the jaw thing.

Yes, this very questionable cute jaw thing. Also look at how Pran is staring at his universe, his eyes literally sparkle.

Oh also, can’t leave this one out.

What’s that look, Pat? (3)

After helping Pran secure some funding, he role played in the middle of the night to help Pran design the bus stop. He stayed up with him and encouraged him too, telling him everyone’ll like the bus stop bc he likes them.

Of course he’s clingy too. I love how Pat knew exactly where Pran would be if he’s not in his dorm. If he didn’t, I can also imagine him walking around campus until he finally found him.

Yes, Pat, what the hell are you looking at?

When Pat’s dad badmouthed Pran’s family, he tried to comfort him. He texted and called multiple times, before finally finding him in an empty dorm room. Then, he offered to move instead out of debt. But after a tickling battle, he considered them even and decided not to move. So, I don’t think Pat’s been giving Pran the special treatment bc he felt indebted to him, but rather bc he just felt like it.

Then, we arrive to episode 5, when he finally realize he’s jealous of Wai and he’s been in love with Pran all his life. I think the fifth episode is just Pat realizing that his sadness, guilt, and loneliness actually meant something. That these feelings he’s been feeling for Pran actually mean something. 

I love that. I love Bad Buddy.

Hey in very beginning of step 3 in the scene where Mr.Holden had a thought dancing on the tip of his tongue but he kept it to himself after MC and Cove were being cute (idk if it makes a difference but this is when they're dating)... Can we know what he was thinking/ wanted to say? It's been bugging me lol 

He would’ve gone into a “look how much you’ve grown”, “your dad is so proud of you”, “I’m so glad things worked out with the MC”, and etc spiel, haha. But he resisted the urge to fawn on his baby boy, at least for that scene.

If we planned to move away for college/future plans in step 3, is it implied that MC and Cove would have a long distance relationship for sure? Could MC have convinced Cove to come with them? How is the dynamic of their relationship going to be addressed in Step 4, if that makes sense? 

Cove is willing to follow the MC where they went after everything is settled for them there, and if they’re sure they want him to come! You’ll get to decide how things shook out during those transitional years just by making choices about it during the opening prologue of Step 4.

It stands for my old, silly username I used in places like Neopets as a kid, aha. The company name wasn’t super thought out since it was originally just me making VNs as a hobby. Luckily, “GB Patch” kind of seems like it could mean something reasonable, so I didn’t have to rebrand when it did become a more serious, commercial group.

Yeah, you or Cove can propose in Step 4 if you’re not already engaged! The Wedding DLC takes place after the engagement so the proposal scenes aren’t there.

The Step 3 DLC is Cove-based because he’s the default guy. There’s a separate Baxter romance DLC that’s not out yet. That’s where you can get him to date you. I’m sorry for the confusion!

Will we ever get any LI's or side characters with physical disabilities or deformities? I think your games would be a great place to have them in since they're always so accepting and safe!

So, I have played the prologue of Our Life countless times and I haven't gotten the [Your Life] achievement, why is that? 

Steam sometimes isn’t connected properly when an achievement unlocks and so it remains locked on your account. If that happens, unfortunately getting the scene again won’t unlock it. The achievement becomes inaccessible because the game thinks you already have it. Playing with the same Steam account on a different device or fully deleting your game data (more than the only the save files) are the only work arounds we’ve found.

Since when you talk with Jeremy in step 3 it's mentioned he goes on dates with someone (which assume is JB because who else would take this boy on dates) that makes him happy, does that sort of make JB and Jeremy the canon relationship in the first game?

The default for XOXO Droplets is that JB casually goes on dates with each of the jerks! Shiloh would’ve been harsher if Jeremy was the only guy getting her attention, haha. But the player can change that default by dating just one person the whole game for their own story and who she ends up with for real has no default.

Kyra is willing to keep her mouth shut and Cove isn’t gonna have that conversation either. We are considering it, but it’s not a guarantee yet. It’d be really great to have but it’d add so many extra alterations that’d need to made, aha.

Hello! You mentioned how Cove would be uncomfortable with kids at 23, but how old would he be when he’s comfortable with having/adopting kids? (Same goes for the other LI’s.) btw, love your game!! 

He’d want to be at least 25, but even older would be good. Derek would want to have kids when he and his partner could reasonably support them, the age itself wouldn’t matter. If they were doing good at 22 and wanted kids, he’d be up for it. Or they could wait until their 30s or whatever. Baxter is also more of a “when it feels right” guy rather than having a specific age requirement. Cove is just especially wary of being a young parent because of his own parents. I’m happy you like the game!

does step 4 immediately play after you press "end summer" in step 3? or is there another button/transition (like the story text thingy) before the epilogue begins? what happens after the epilogue? roll credits? 😂 

Step 4 will have transition section always and there will be an extra button, if you own the Derek or Baxter DLC. By default the Cove-based version of Step 4 just plays once Step 3 is over. However, having the other guys’ storylines will mean you get to pick which version of Step 4 plays; Cove Step 4 (the basic one), Derek Step 4, or Baxter Step 4.

To be an approval application Apple requires having special notarization and we as a small group haven’t gotten that. They’re still coming and we just released a new sprite sketch on the Patreon for the Derek DLC c:. But right now Step 4 is still much more of a priority. Once that’s closer to being done we’ll focus way more on sharing previews for the other guys.

You and Cove can be as close as family, but there’s not a specific scene in Step 3 where you say “I love you” in a family context. But there’s always Step 4~

do you intend on ever adding a collectors mode to Our Life? Like a way to collect achievements and CGs for the gallery without it effecting any save files? 

We weren’t considering it before. But if a lot of players would find that helpful, we could start thinking on that!

He isn’t particular aware. Cove never truly stops being surprised that the MC is interested in/attracted to him, haha.

Nope, haha. The goal is to make friends/get a boyfriend and so the alone ending is kind of the bad ending for the game. Though there is a consolation prize if you get it by accident.

Is there any possible situation which would ever prompt Pran to bake for his girlfriend? Like I know it's unlikely I mean even if JB broke her leg somehow I'm pretty sure he'd still be like "I considered baking you a cake and doing the frosting the way I think looks interesting but you don't deserve a cake, no one does." right but also ahhh it would be super nice if some day he just surprised her with baked goods one day out of nowhere. JB would be so shocked it would be cute. So is there any possible situation where that could/would be a thing that he would do? 

He might bake out of spite, like if he felt he had to prove her wrong on something. Or if JB used some good reverse psychology on him. Or he might do it in a relatively nice way if he could make his GF so shocked by the kind gesture that his amusement with that overrode his insistence on not being sweet. Pran is very difficult in high school, aha.

Step 4 is a free epilogue! It’s not done yet, but once it is finished you’ll just update your game file and Step 4 will be there after Step 3 ends.

They are. Step 4 is a free epilogue that’ll be a default part of the game once it’s done, the wedding DLC is an optional paid expansion that takes place after Step 4.

Why did Baxter not receive a step 2 sprite seeing how he shows up later

Sprites are time consuming to draw and take money out of the budget that could’ve gone to other things. His tiny appearance in Step 2 wasn’t worth all the effort to make a sprite, aha.

I just realized, what happens if if you get the patreon exclusive moment but at a later date, when you don't have the membership anymore, it's updated (like a bugs fix update for example)? Would you have to get the membership again? 

You would have to get the membership again to redownload the build. But there’s very little chance there’s going to be an update once it’s been out for over a month. If a build gets released with errors, players catch/report them within the first few days. So by the time the first subscription period ends, any problems that were noticeable would already have been fixed. And we’re certainly not gonna be adding new content to it once it’s been released for a long time. There’s no need to worry about missing out on something worthwhile in the future if you cancel your membership. It’s being made with the idea in mind that many players are gonna be getting it and then going.

Hello! Wanted to ask about gaming choice in step 3? Once upon a playthorugh I got the option to buy Cove a bracelet for his graduation present. I played the same basic character again and that option wasn't there anymore. I'm not sure where I went wrong. My Cove wears a bracelet on each hand and my MC is into fashion and jewelry. Do I need to put an earring on him or? Sorry, love your game so much. 

He also needs to have liked bracelets in Step 2 for that to be considered a good gift option for him. Sorry for the confusion! I’m happy you love the game :)

I’m not sure. Ideally they’ll come out at the same time, but the wedding DLC has a lot of art to get done and we may have to release it after Step 4.

Can mc still get confession from Cove at the end of step 3 even if mc casually dates Baxter in step 3? Such as in crush mode? 

I don’t think so. Maybe that’ll change, but generally there’s differences to the Step 3 ending if you were dating Baxter and those differences likely will conflict with getting the Cove confession.

the whole episode was a big fat proof why the break up was the only real and logical solution for them right now

There are some clues leading to the fact that they won't leave eachother's side, BUT there are way more clues about them having to go back to their parents (mostly for their future on Pat's side and for his own feeling of guilt leaving his mom for Pran). How to go back to them when their parents don't accept their relationship ? You have to end this said relationship.

I don't start with "but screw their parents ! Why do they take 2 steps back after making one step forward in ep 10?!" because this is bullshit. Don't tell me in their situation you would have stayed away with your lover leaving everything behind, I won't believed it.

I saw a lot of people saying "that's asian culture" but I don't agree with that neither (I'm a white european and I understand fully the logical situation happening here, I would have done the same as PatPran, go back to my toxic parents sacrificing myself). I think it's just a realistic POV and we are all just too brainwashed by American romanticized POV from movies since our childhood. In those rom-com movies and series, love always triumph, characters follow their dreams, them against the world and won thanks to the power of love/friendship. But you know that's just fiction right ? BBS took a more realistic POV. They are not heroic lovers, they are just two young men trying to leave their life and give their hearts the love it want while surviving in this world. You have to make sacrifice and compromise in this world, our world.

Just to be clear, whoever you are, from wherever you are. In this situation:

Your parents don't accept your life choice/love life/ect... So you run away for some time by anger.

But in the end, you need financial support from your parents to study in college, to get to do the job you want in the future (of course if your parents are toxic and don't even support you financially or emotionnally it's not the same situation). To get to have a comfortable life in the future, you need your parents. Or you will end up having a difficult life as a fisherman, having your body broken by life at a younger age ect...

Also, those people are still your parents, and in this situation you can't say that Pran's mother don't love him. He knows that she did all that thinking she was protecting him. You would feel guilty too, leaving her without information overnight, knowing how she must be suffering right now. If you don't feel guilty (in this scenario obviously), maybe you are not such a great human yourself.

It would mean leaving so many people behind. Erasing your memories with the rest of your family (you really see Pat never talk to Paa ever again ?!) and your friends too. Forget the rest of your world just for one person ? You will be loved yeah, but their love would never fulfill entirely the void left by the parents and the friends, believe me.

You would also choose to go back to your parents, sacrificing your love for a better future and a stable life. It's only logical.

Their parents are toxic but they aren't persecutors. They offered them a beautiful childhood, with money and opportunities. So I don't forgive what they have done, it's still fucked up. BUT it would be stupid to abandon everything. And it's in this situation, I mean they aren't homophobic parents "just" patphobic/pranphobic. So they don't hate their kids for what they are, just what they did (been starting a relation with their nemesis' kid). And that makes a big difference.

I'm making another post about why I think it's not even a full break up. Just a physical break up, but not a mental one.

After my last post I noticed something in Ep. 4 that this episode didn't address.

To paraphrase Gun to Win: It's a long story; I'll tell you later.

Promise? Hopefully Gun will do just that.

I find this episode to be the weakest one we've seen so far. The stakes are ill defined, and I don't understand where key characters are going from here.

Gun is fortunate enough that his parents' interests match his own, and that they nurture that interest. He wants to follow in his father's footsteps; they're not forcing him to. His mom ends up reassuring him that he can follow his heart no matter what.

It is unfortunate that the milk bar employee is taking maternity leave at this critical time for Gun's plan for New Wave.

Gun's mon says the he wants to go into the Faculty of Music. Won't he need to study for that faculty just like any other?

Then there's Tinn. He's fully under his mom's thumb. She wants him to be a doctor, and he never asks himself if he really wants to be one. Instead, he tries to find meaning and purpose within her expectations. Does mother know best all of a sudden?

Por actually has to confront his mother with what he wants to do; something he manages to do with Tiw's encouragement. She is okay with him being in the Music Club and the New Wave competition. That doesn't come as a complete suprise as they have a grand piano in their living room. I don't know if he want to pursue music after high school or not.

Win is still in defiance of his father's plan for him. We've barely scratched the surface between him being in the band, his desire to break into the rap scene, and his father's expectations. Sound helps him take the first steps, and the two of them end up back in the club room.

I haven't been able to get a good reading on what is going on with either Yo or Pat, but they are there in the club room with the rest of them.

Back to Gun, he has been focusing on keeping his club alive and winning New Wave. He looks like he has spared little thought about what happens next, win or lose.

While the song in Ep. 2 is in my #1 position, the song in Ep. 3 is in #2. Despite the fact that neither Tinn nor Gun are willing to outright admit it (even when the other one pushes), I believe they understand that they will face whatever obstacles come together.

Throughout the series so far, we have watched reality crash through Tinn's daydreams, but he has the connections and resources to deal with what is thrown at him. The song in this episode steps away from reality. It counters the guidance councilor who is a little too zealous in his role at the beginning of the episode.

I hope that Ep. 6 gets back on track.

Side note:

Bad Buddy was really good at keeping things grounded in its reality. We watched Pat and Pran work together to overcome obstacles while developing a pretty solid relationship. After watching them bringing their warring faculties together, I had envisioned them getting their families together as well. At the very end, the young men must face the fact that they have met an obstacle they can't remove. They come to terms with the notion that a not-so-secret relationship is better than no relationship at all.

I was dumbfounded by this ending. It was worse than finding out the reason why the families fueded in the first place. To me, finding out about the scholarship was the beginning of the end. I figured that this was because the US and Thailand are very different culturally. At the same time I realized I wouldn't be able to enjoy another watch of the comple series again.

I think you’re right about the scene that was basically the breakup in disguise, and I think it’s too clever by half. That conversation still works entirely if it’s NOT a breakup - if the context is just them realizing they can’t hide and have to go face their parents together. The episode shouldn’t end with your audience stunned and confused by a preview because the breakup within the episode was so subtle we didn’t notice it!

this was not a happy episode, it had the word "breakup" written all over it from start to finish.

but i do like the way they did the breakup. i'm a sucker for episodes/shows/movies where they throw in a little "twist" (for lack of a better word) at the end that makes you look at the entire thing differently. i watched the episode with a pit in my stomach and the ending and preview really showed why it was there. i've never cried watching a bl before but i did cry here multiple times without knowing why until the ending.

if they had to bring in the episode 11 curse i actually thought this was a beautiful way to do it. it was bittersweet, romantic and mutual. i would say that without two actors as brilliant as nanon and ohm this episode wouldn't have portrayed this as well as it did. they looked so in love but even when they on the surface looked happy you could see the sadness lying underneath. because they both knew since the hug on the rooftop that once they go back to their families they would have to separate. they could never be happy in the way that they wanted to with their families at each others' throats. it was always there. in the entire conversation on the beach about what they each want to do after graduation and pat's answer about why he likes pran. in pran missing his mom and pat talking about continuing the family business. they always talked about it without talking about it. they always knew they had to go back, they just wanted at least a little bit of time to themselves.

i was wondering while watching why pran wouldn't just simply tell pat that he misses his mom and wants to see her. because they never hide anything from each other ever, they communicate so well. but it all makes sense now. because that would mean breaking up with pat. and he wanted to prolong that for as long as possible.

i rewatched the episode. and i’ll be honest, i dont really think the side plot of junior and his mother was necessarily about guilt tripping the kid into crawling back to mom. long attempt at an analysis ahead

to me it felt like the point was that running away and avoiding the issue is the childish thing to do. it isnt a good/permanent solution. it solves nothing and only prolongs the trouble. when we’re first introduced to junior’s plot, pran says ‘hes a kid, he’ll get over it eventually’ and pat says ‘i was just like him when i was a kid too’. and later in the episode pat tells pran that he knows they cant stay forever. they’ve both known this the whole time. but they just wanted to indulge for a while, to be childish and free for a while

and when junior runs away from his mom, pat and pran split up to approach the conflict from each side. pran almost goes after junior but pat insists it should be him instead, leaving pran to get the mom’s side of the story. this conversation was all about a child’s perspective versus the mother’s. pran asks things like ‘what if he wants to stay? what if you had stayed as a kid and became a pirate like you wanted? do you feel lonely when he isnt around?’ which are all so youthful and reaching and searching

but junior’s mom has answers to all of them that kill the illusion that it could be so easy. ‘junior isnt thinking about his future, he wouldnt even exist if i hadnt been taught the same hard truth by my mom, and of course i miss him’. we don’t get to see junior come to terms with his perspective- but that’s because we’re already getting it… since it’s exactly what pat and pran are going through themselves

dont get me wrong, i really disliked how callous she sounded to her son’s wishes. like it would be so shitty if the point was that mothers know better and pran deserves to feel bad. rather, i think him feeling bad was a consequence of lashing out, running away, and trying to avoid the problems instead of talking through them... but yeah honestly im still unsure if ‘listen to your parents’ really was also an implied point or if it just unfortunately came across that way, just like the issue with wai exposing patpran got brushed aside as something that wasnt a big deal when it really really should have been. its hard to tell what this show is trying to say sometimes!! and that will be eternally frustrating to me!!

anyway. it hurts for me to think about pran in particular listening to this. yes, running away is a childish response, but for adults to kill the dream is also far too harsh. for adulthood to come and take you away from your comfort and fun and innocence and idealism… this is the very thing pat and pran are struggling with, being on the cusp of adulthood (i think theyre about 19 at this point?). i really want to believe that it doesnt have to be one versus the other, that we can carry our hopes and dreams into adulthood. i really want to believe that the show isnt just trying to say that adults are right in the end because the childish way is bad. after all, adults ARENT always right. pat literally says that! and uncle tong says ‘even if you cant change the world, dont let the world change you either’, so what does it all mean!!!

you know what else struck me about this plot? that it ends with junior being given a choice. they ask him: what is your decision? and he CHOOSES to go back with his mom. if it was about the mom being unquestionably right, she might have just dragged him by the arm or something. but she gives him some space and he goes back to her willingly. just as pat and pran understand that what they needed was some space to think about things and be themselves. and then they choose to go back together. i admit its very different since junior and patpran are at different life stages/levels of autonomy, but the parallel still works because their parents all definitely still view them as children

and call me a fool, but i dont think it means they‘ve given up. junior runs back to patpran and uncle tong for another hug, another few moments of clinging to that happy escape. he expresses a desire to see them again. he gets a souvenir (the scarf) that he can carry with him to wherever he’s going next in life. its not hopeless. and personally, i dont think the ending of episode 11 was altogether hopeless either. pat and pran HAVE to go back home because it’s the responsible thing to do. but they have their memories and souvenirs and love songs, symbols of their happy times together, to cling to for whatever happens next. my wish is for the finale to show us that its possible for youthful hope and mature practicality to coexist

Thanks for responding and you are right, I don't even think I would have ran away in the first place. As much as I understand all the choices made by P'aof and even if they make sense, a lot, I still hate that they have to go through this.

And I related to pran when he was missing his mom despite everything she has done wrong, because at the end of the day, we are raised to always love them, even when they put us through hell, I remember being 18 and having the worst relationship with my mom, but when I left to study abroad, I missed her so much, I even broke down in class while eating because the food was sooo different and I started thinking about her food. I was strong for the entire week I've been there, but the food was the last straw. The way we associate food with maternal love is crazy, and seeing it in an Asian serie made me remember. But leaving also made my relationship with my mom so much better.

So who knows, maybe pran do need to leave, to find himself truly.

But I hope still that the teaser was a misdirect, a big one. And that after seeing how miserable those 2 boys are, ming and dissaya understand that their children should not pay the price for something that happened between them almost 30 years ago. And tell them to go and find the other. Imagine if this happens, I will just cry so much.

Imagine they make us believe in Part1 that they stayed away during all those years just to show us in flashbacks, that no, they were together all along and when pran appears at the reunion, his frown is replaced by a smile and pat say, no, that's not my rival, that's my fiancé, and they start showing the flashbacks

also, same. omg when i lived in the dorms i'd miss her so so fucking much sometimes when i came home and she'd call i'd break down just hearing her voice it was crazy. now that i'm living w them again. it's suffocating...that same way i think it was bc pran was away from his mom for so long (first the transfer, then he lived in the dorms so he saw her maybe once a week or two at most) is why he forgave her so easily. bc they've already had that distance and their relationship must have improved and then her sore spot was back and yeah.

the thing about food and mothers. oh god that's so true. in cultures where women inherently take the kitchen, children grow up eating their food and its true nothing in the world can replicate those years of cooking. i hope u get to eat her food again soon :((

it has some spoilers. 

Jb: You’d think that just because she’s the mc I’d make her the avatar, right? Hah! wrong. She’d be a firebender. Jb’s confidence and high spirit would be perfect to enlighten her inner flame. 

She’d be one of the people that learned her bending at an early age, often training to improve those abilities. And showing off wink wink. During Aang's era she wouldn’t be involved for a long period, minding her own business in her village as to not attract firebenders to find out about her different views. At best she wouldn’t mind training the avatar to firebend if Zuko wasn’t available. Or help in battle if the situation ever occurred.

 In the period of Korra she’d be raised in the fire nation and move out to republic city once she’s convinced her parents to live on her own. She’d discover the pro bending sports which quickly infatuated her making Jb strut her pretty legs to insist on the poor team that happens to lack a firebender teamplayer.

 And if you think this gal won’t flirt with sappy fire puns then it’s a shame that we’d have to disagree while respectfully viewing each others opinion, reader.

Everett: This poor guy’s the only one who ends up bender-less in all timelines. He’d hope for something cool like firebending or earthbending since they have cool sub-skills like lighting generation and lava bending. Someone would want to tell him that the alterations in waterbending has double the alterations compared to either of them. 

And you know what? He doesn’t care. He’s not interested in bending with body movements that “matches the motion of the waves”. Plus.. in his mind blood bending is kinda freaky. So fire or earth would be perfect fits in his mind! An element doesn’t need a lot of sub-skills to be cool after all. 

Sucks that he didn’t end up with either in the end though. His mom as well as Lynn would reassure him that it could take some time for him to discover his powers since people are different. Nate would also be supportive but more in a “just because you have no bending powers doesn’t mean you get to slack off. Now stop feeling sorry for yourself and get yourself together.” way. But in the end of the day through all of his frustration,struggle and insecurity I believe that he’ll be able to show off what his charmingly lame self is made of without any of that.

Nate: He’s a firebender. No one is really surprised but people tend to be wary of his bending and rage coming through at the same time. In a way the use of fire would be the way for Nate to release his inner turmoils. Problem is that down the line rage isn’t the most progressive method to fuel your strength.

 Nate will eventually have to learn to redirect his energy once he’s older since eventually his power is going to be weakened due to stronger emotional control. Sadly, as much as I don’t want to leave it like this I can’t imagine the outcome of that scenario. Though, I bet he’s more content with himself in the end.

Shiloh: Who knows? 

No but for real, Shiloh would probably be that one person that you wouldn’t be able to directly tell which nation he belongs to based on clothing and such. It’ll be a tougher time for any poor fellow who’d want to guess if he lived in Republic city too. Shya will always be known as that guy who people think have this power until something contradicts their theory. No one will know the answer. A true shame.

Bae: It’ll take a long while before Bae takes initiative to become a bender. In some cases he might not be one at all. That scenario would depend on leap of fate. Let’s say for example that Bae was traveling to the Northern Water Tribe. In that moment he’d be fascinated by the water benders ability to redirect energy from a body to heal a wound at an accelerating rate. He’d ask to be taught this technique much to the surprise of the female benders. Waterbending would be the most preferable one in his eyes. It’s kind of nice if you don’t fight with it and take your time mastering the soothing tai chi based moves after all.

Jeremy: Much to his dismay Jeremy is an earthbender. He discovered it that one time when he got fussy during an argument with someone. He kicked the ground in frustration and the earth rose up, traveling in a sporadic line as response. Jeremy didn’t expect this revelation. Both of his parents where non benders so he wouldn’t be able to pinpoint where he got it from.

 Anyway, he’d rather forget all of it. There’s no point in learning earthbending in his mind, it’s better not to bother. Or at least that’s what he thought his plan was. Unfortunately someone discovered Jeremy’s newfound bending powers. They’d insist on making the push over train to enchanted his abilities.

 Unfortunately for them Jeremy was much more of an effortless wimp than they initially thought. Jeremy would give an expected mopey line at the persons defeat. Until it hits them; the Kings runs a hobby shop, Jeremy is the handy one, he can metal bend! He’d then be insisted to find a mentor to teach him metal bending. 

Of course He’d appear indifferent, but secretly Jeremy would be intrigued. However, he wouldn’t use his abilities in greater use. Instead his mental bending would be a tool for his crafting.

Pran: At first he wouldn’t bother to figure out which type of bending he could do. He’d sit somewhere alone from the others until someone pestered him about showing off what he can do since Pran seems like a tough guy based on his physical form. If he lived during the era that Aang lived he’d remain a non-bender being content in solely using his bare body strength to fight during the war.

 But if was at the time when Korra’s the avatar he’d discover that he was one of the people that gained the ability of airbending. There would be jokes that someone like Pran isn’t suited for the “twinkle toe” type.

 But despite the comments and his own stubbornness to detach himself from his new ability he’ll come to find that the air helps to channel his own energy. Pran’s fighting style is quick and aggressive, much like a fire bender.

 But what airbending does that fire bending can’t is the ability to let his core strength out. He’d be pleasantly pleased with how far he’s reached. I doubt he’d be willing to be within the temples to become an air nomad because of the Kings. But when that conflict is resolved he ultimately decides to stay there for a couple of months until he’s decided where to go from here.

Chapter 1 Escape

The earth year 2100

It was a stormy night in the city of Mount Valley. All was quiet, nothing was heard except the thunder and the lighting. A lightning bolt fell and then out of nowhere a hooded figure appeared. The figure moved in the shadows; the figure approached a two-story house the figure laid the basket, it was carrying on the porch the figure rang the doorbell, and left with one thought they'll do better than me.

The door was opened by a man who was muscular build. He had red hair, blue eyes, and some facial hair he was dressed in shorts and a t-shirt. He looked around and found nothing

'Damn kids always playing pran-' his thoughts were interrupted by a sniffle. This caused him to look down, he picked up the basket took it inside. A black sphere flew out, and linked itself to Mark's brain waves showing dangerous thinks to come. Once the message was completely passed he yelled for his wife.

"MARTHA!"

Martha was a beautiful woman had green eyes with red hair; her hair reached down to her shoulders. She was dressed in her pink silk nightie as she reached down the stairs with an annoyed look she told him not so loud. She took notice of the basket "Honestly Mark this freaks you out and here I thought I married the bravest man." "It's not the basket that's freaking me out." Mark hands her the sphere that freaked him out, after she sees what freaked Mark out she's more understanding they promise each other to look after the baby.

Seventeen years have passed and the seniors of Mount Valley high have graduated. "YES it's finally over!" exclaimed a girl with long red hair tied into a ponytail, she was wearing a black skirt and a pink shirt. "I know right." her companion replied. It was another girl this girl had black hair with red highlights and blue eyes. She was wearing a red blouse with blue jeans. "What are the plans for this summer Maria?" asked the girl with highlights. "Well the plan is to have fun Jewel."

Seriously no weird classes or camp? Jewel asked shocked. Maria's parents usually singed her to various types of classes or camp.

"Not that I now about."

"Wait for me." A girly voice screamed she had long red hair blue eyes she wore a little make up and a sun dress. "Hey Melody I thought you be with your friends." said Maria.

Meanwhile in the Moreguerra's house

"Martha we have to tell them."

"Are you sure Mark? After all their just babies."

"1st yes I am' and you know dam well it's up to them and their not babies."

"I... know... I... just get worried." Martha replied she buried her head in her husband chest. Mark embraced her and stroke her back gently "It'll be fine" He repeated every time he stroke her back.

"Mom Dad we're home." Maria yelled out as she let her sister and herself in.

Oh girls we have something to tell you. Mark said in a serious tone he only used when the girls got in trouble.

"What did we do?" Both girls asked in union

"Neither of you is in trouble." Martha entered the conversation. Her tone was that of fear and sadness. Maria being the smart person she is picked up on her parents emotions "Mom dad what's wrong?" she asked slowly.

"Maria Melody we're proud of you both." Mark began

"We love you and do anything to protect you." Martha finished for her husband she went to hug the girls.

"Mommy?" asked Melody as she finally saw the distress her parents were under.

"About 17 years ago we had a visitor of sorts; this person left valuable information about the future concerning you both." Mark told them.

"Oh yeah sure then Santa clause and the tooth fairy will team up." Maria replied sarcastically.

"Maria we're not kidding around." Martha explained.

"You don't seriously expect us to believe that someone came from the future?" Maria used air quotes on the word future.

"Dad Maria is right that sounds weird."

"Thank you."

Their father gave a sigh then he continued to talk. "Girls just promise us that, if anything happens to us you will find your aunt Anna, and let her know it's landed."

The Moreguerra's stared at each other awkwardly until both sisters exclaimed "Oh my God you're serious!" Melody took charge of the situation her reply was "Alright dad, mom we promise."

"There's more you see the visitor left more than information; he/she le-. Before Mark was able to finish the wall collapsed.

A Creature covered in armor entered; the only thing that wasn't cover was her face. Which happened to be a shade of light blue. It had four fingers the ears were boney and spikey her elbows, and knees had spikes. The eyes had no pupil it was all red; her hair was long and green. "Bow down to the mighty Zar and Kasim you pathetic meat bags." The creature said as he prepared to destroy everything, however Mark slid under the creature then he kicked her knocking her of balance. Maria, and Melody were staring in shock and fear as their father did battle with aliens." Girls snap out of it!" Their mother commanded as craft to take his family to safety. Before the parents could get in more of those things showed up. Maria climbed to the driver seat of the hover craft and drove as far away as possible.

"Mom...and...Dad will be okay right Maria?" Melody was wiping tear of her face trying to be as brave as her sister. The sister didn't always get along, however Melody always admire her sister for being brave and independent. Maria looked at her sister face she considered lying to her but lying was never her forte.

Maria took a deep breath "Mel you and I k-"

"Please just say yes."

"Melody mom and dad did what they had to for our sake."

"I know am just worried."

"Mom and dad's sacrifice won't be in vain once we find Aunt Anna we'll kick their behinds. "Maria's expression and tone were out of character for her, however this is understandable considering the fact that the sisters witness the dead of their parents.

"Ah Maria can't this thing go any faster?"

"Yeah."

"Not to rush you but could you SPEED UP!" At first Melody talked calmly then she stared to yell, when she noticed that they were being chased in some type of motor craft. The motor craft looked like a motor cycle the only difference was that it was missing the wheels.

Maria pushed the craft to its limit. She was amazed that she has not caused an accident or that anybody even notice that their being chased.

"Are they gaining on us?" Maria asked a bit worried as she slowed the vehicle.

"No we lost them." Melody replied after she looked behind them.

"Hey Maria what are those things aliens/mutants?"

"I have no freaking idea."

"Maria am sorry for all the things I did to you you're the best big sister."

"Am sorry too, Melody I should've helped you."

"This is the weirdest thing we've done."

"Being nice to each other or running away from freaks."

"Both I guess."

"Point taken."

"Maria why are we stopping?"

Maria did not respond something out their caught her attention. What caught her attention, was the fact that two of her schoolmates were fighting the creature with no weapons, however this creature was different from the last one this one had dark blue skin the eyes where pure black with no weapons. One of the boys was dark skinned he was wearing Green button shirt, he had slacks and boots his hair was nicely comb he had brown eyes. The other boy had red T shirt and blue shorts his hair was spikey, he had blue eyes, and his skin was white. The two high school graduates were holding their own.

"Any ideas Ted?" asked the blue eyed boy.

"Yeah just one, punch with everything you have Keven!" Ted exclaimed, while running and hitting the alien causing the alien to lose balance.

The alien just smiled as he got up. "Bliss impressed that you earthlings managed to throw Bliss of balance." said Bliss in a calm voice then he pointed his elbows at them. The two humans looked at each other, and smiled waiting for the hit to come. The alien fell down and orange liquid came out from his back.

"GET IN!" yelled Maria while still holding the blaster. The two kids ran and enter the hover craft. "Thanks for the save girls. "Said Keven.

"Don't thank us yet." Melody replied.

"Why?" asked Ted.

"We we're running away from an alien we lost her, but it's still alive." Maria replied her voice was harsh.

While driving away they saw an old van by old it was one from 100 years ago drive towards the aliens. Maria couldn't pinpointed, but she had this nagging feeling that she's seen that van various times before.

"Hey Ted I just thought of something." Keven turned towards Ted scratching the back of his head.

"What did you think of?" asked Ted.

"The girls and the kids and why nobody notice all of this besides us?" asked Keven with a mix expression of shocked and fear. Shocked because they forgot about them, and fear for their safety.

"Oh man I forgot about that." Ted showed some concern and slap himself in the face.

"Wait what girls and kids? "Asked Melody as she turn her head around.

My guess on the Girls would be Trina and Brittany, however the kid part has peeked my interest as well. Maria answered her sister's question with concern for her friends, and the kids.

"You see Ted was like getting ready for a date with Trina, and I was like going to go play some game, when Brittney told me she wanted to talk, before we got started we heard kids crying. We decided to check it out. We saw the alien, and the kid's parents lying in a pool of their own blood. We told the girls to take the kids to safe place." Keven finished the story.

"WOW Keven you must be braver than I thought or stupider." Maria exclaimed sarcastically.

"Hey thanks."

"So any idea where they went?" asked Maria

"Not a damn clue." The boys replied in union and anger.

"So let me get this straight we have an alien threat that no one seems to notice and four people missing." Melody replied it was more of a statement than a question.

"First we find Aunt Anna then we look for the others." Maria ordered

"What's your aunt going to do?" asked Ted

"We're not sure but dad always said that if anything bad happens she was our best chance of surviving." Melody answered for her sister.

HEY! Keven yelled out.

"You have an objection to the plan?" Melody asked

"No I just realized Maria insulted me a few minutes ago." Keven responded causing every one laugh including himself and Maria who never laughed.

"Hey you have pretty laugh Maria." Keven commented

"Um...um.... thanks." Maria replied shyly as her face turned red.

The day turned into night they drove in peace, however their peace wouldn't last long. The aliens that they were fighting somehow managed to catch up.

"Guys we have a problem." Maria warren her friends

"Which is?" Keven asked

"Their back." responded Maria

"What do we do? How do we get out of this? We're going to die?" Melody asked panicking her body was shaking in fear she was about to shed tears. That was until her sister started to rub her back, and telling her to calm down like a mother would to her child.

The old van that they saw earlier came back. It looked like the riders from the van are fighting the aliens. The alien's aimed their weapons at the van the driver moved to the left not caring about any laws. The van shoot lasers at the aliens.

"Shields enable." the female alien commanded the alien's body was surrounded by a square once the laser hit they were unharmed. Four men exit the van. The first was a white tall male he had black hair, blue eyes he was wearing a black shirt, and jeans. He introduce himself "Am Jason." The next one was holding Blasters laser blades, he was wearing all camouflage he was bold and ready for action "My Name is Mike." The third one to exit was muscular build, he had on a fighting GI, and his face was emotionless had long hair "Ned is the name fighting is my game." Final the last one to come out was wearing a white lab coat oval glasses and a he held a control. "They call me Tim."

It seem like time had stopped for all involved. The riders and the aliens are in stand of staring at each other intensely. The black haired man stepped forward his gaze increased he asked bitterly "Who are you and what do you want with our planet?"

"Bliss's name be bliss and she be Taria." answered the dark blue alien.

"We are oddills what we want is destruction in the name of Zar and Kasim." Responded the sky blue alien. Once the alien finished her sentence they lounged them self at the riders. The riders split into two groups Jason seemed to be in charge.

Mike pulled out his laser blade out and charged at the female alien. Taria simple blocked the blade with her own. Taria swings her blade to mikes head he ducked, and swing kicked her. She jumped the blade battle raged on their, seem to be no clear winner.

Ned took on Bliss, Ned took a Fighting stance. Bliss looked at Ned in confusion.

"Bliss not understand oh well Bliss kill you know." With that said Bliss and Ned charge at each other with their punches colliding. Ned throws a right hook Bliss tries to kick him the match is in favor of Ned. That until Bliss takes out a weapon, thanks to Ned's marital arts skills and reflexes he was able to dodge the blade. Jason and Tim who had seen the trick rushed in to help their friend.

The fight with Taria and Mike was coming to an end both fighters had received bruises the battle became so brutal that they both fell unconscious. Bliss notice and grabs his partner then they leave.

Maria and her group get out of the craft to check on the heroes. "So it was you after all." Maria stated.

"What are you doing here?" Jason asked in concern and anger tone for Maria and her group.

"Oh just thought I go sightseeing." Maria Replied sarcastically.

"I thought we were escaping from aliens." said Keven in confusion he didn't get that Maria was being sarcastic they ignored his comment

"Don't get smart with me."

"Oh maybe I was trying to escape."

"Then why didn't you flee when we provided the distraction."

"I don't know okay."

"Sorry to interrupt but do you know each other?" Ted asked

"Yeah his one of Jewels elder brothers." Replied Maria

"Anyway let's go to your Aunt's." Keven said

"Follow us we know where she is." Jason ordered.

The riders got in their old van and rest got in the craft. The drove all the way out of the city until they reached an abandoned building. They fallowed the riders inside the building.

"WHAT THE HECK MY PARENTS ASK US TO GO TO MY AUNTS AND YOU TAKES MILES AWAY." a pissed off Maria was yelling on top of her lungs

"Calm down Maria." a strangely familiar voice

"That sounds like Aunt Anna." Melody stated with joy in her voice. She looked around trying to find the voice. Maria was equally shocked.

"You're correct Melody. "The voiced from behind a door it opened to revel a beautiful woman with dark brown hair her eyes were baby blue. Welcome to the H.P.O also known as the Human protection organization.

"So uh is this like a base or lair?" Keven asked fallowing the others.

"It's more like base." Anna replied

"Wait what about the girls?" Ted asked his voice was shaking with a bit of fear.

If your referring to Brittany and Trina their right here. Anna told them they all felt relieved to know their friends were safe.

"Alright the mystery is solved the earth is under alien invasion." Maria concluded

"You're correct."

"Enjoy your stay this you're new home."

Maria was about to reply "Oh no I can't just sit here and let those things destroy the earth I am going to fight. "Keven said with confidence and heading for the exit.

"I can't believe it but he's right I am going to." Ted agreed with Keven.

Melody and Jewel look at Maria for conformation, she nodded. "Then its settle were going." Maria said.

"Okay great idea do you have weapons, fighting experience anything that could help you?" Anna asked already knowing the answers to this. The teens stopped in their tracks and shacked their heads no.

"Thought so." "If you want to protect fine by me all you need is a little training." She wave for the teens to come, later she gave them a tour of the building. The teens split Jewel went with Jason, Brittany with Keven, Ted with Trina, and the sisters stayed together they all wanted to talk.

"I always thought you were a lazy musician and it turns out your saving the world. Does mom dad or our siblings know?" Jewel asked she worries about her brother in a way he was the one that raised her with her parents being on business trips.

"No they don't and I liked to keep it that way." Jason answered his sister flatly.

"So you lied to our siblings, our parents, and you hurt me I always thought you trusted me just like I trust you." Jewel said with a mix of fury, and sadness.

"I wanted to tell you however with the threat and my mission I couldn't, however am going to let you in on secret." Jason approached his sister and whispered in her ear the big secret.

"Keven we need to talk." The blond said facing the wall.

"About what Brittany?" He asked as he moved closer.

"Us and our relationship."

"Okay I'll start let see we began dating when you became head cheerleader and I became captain of the soccer team."

"Our parents forced us, we did have fun together, but I think our time together is up."

"Yeah, we both new our relationship was fake." He turned around and gave her wave as he left.

Maria and Melody were together in their new room. Melody was laughing. "What's so funny?" Her sister asked with a look of confusion

"Oh we spend our lives fighting with each other and we find time to bond at the end of the world."

"Your right, you know that I care about you right."

"Yeah and I care for you in the sisterly kind of way."

With Ted and Trina once they got some privacy they embraced each other in hug "Oh man I'm so glad you're alive." Ted said as he embraced Trina.

"Am very pleased to see that you have survived as well." Said Trina she rested her head on his chest. The world around them stopped they looked deeply in each other's eyes to find love their lips meet both wanting that moment of love to last forever unfortunately they had to break apart for air.

"All members meet me at the main hall in 20 minutes." The voice of Anna came from the speakers. Once every one arrived at the main hall they took their seats. Anna began to speak on what's happening. "Thank you all for coming, I have dire news our planet is being attacked by alien forces. This organization has stopped previous attacks, however their getting more brutal and cunning. We need your help to preserve and protect the planet. I will not lie to you some of you may not make it alive. Any questions?"

Some of the people looked worried, scared, and others looked at each other worried and having second thoughts of joining, the crowd was in panic and desperation to think clearly. "Excuse me folks" Maria tried to get their attention. When Maria failed she went straight to her aunt snatched the microphone "LISTEN YOU SNIBBILING COWARDS!" that yell got her the attention she was looking for. "MY parents sacrificed themselves for my sister and me. Two of my classmates saved little kids. I know going out there to fight aliens is a scary thought but you don't have be in the frontlines provide food and shelter for the ill and injured or the elderly as well for the fighters basically give support and fighting." Once Maria was done with her speech she rejoined her friends.

"That was awesome." Melody complemented her sister as she gave her a hug. You know I'm sticking with you till the end right? Jewel asked her friend.

"Rats and here I thought it would scare you." Maria responded sarcastically.

"We're with you till the end!" exclaimed Keven the others on the group nodded

*Clap* *Clap* the clapping came from the Moreguerra's aunt. "You all will make a great team. AS your aunt and guardian I can't say that I approve however as the leader of the HPO I say welcome aboard your training begins tomorrow."

Chapter 2 Training and missions

"Wake up early tomorrow or the instructor will wake you up. Ah here we are 3 rooms each room has two beds. Ted and Keven take one room. Girls you decide how you want to share. My room is down the hall. Anna told them she then left for her own room. The girls decided that the sisters should share a room and the other three would share the other. As night settle the teens went to blissful sleep since they had an eventful day

"WAKE UP YOU LAZY BRATS!" was heard the teens tried to ignore the lunatic until he somehow got louder. Maria not being a morning person woke up angrily she took one of her boots opened the door and threw it at the man's face with all her might. Maria blinked twice. The man was taller than most people he was well built his eyes were yellow his hair was short like military hair it was brown

"Huh you're still standing."

"WAHAHA YOU THINK A LITTLE GIRLY CAN TAKE ME DOWN THAT'S FUNNY YOU DO HAVE GOOD ARM."

"What's up with all the yelling Melody?" asked while rubbing her eyes.

"Yeah and who's your new friend?" Jewel asked as the others came out to see what all the commotion is about.

"I have no idea he just started to yell like some lunatic." Maria replied

"I AM NOT YELLING! WHY ARE YOU GUYS LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT?"

"First you are yelling and second why are you waking us at four in the morning?" all the teens asked in union.

"DID I FORGET TO INTRUDCE MY SELF AGAIN? SORRY ABOUT THAT."

"YOU KIDS GO GET SOMETHING TO EAT AFTER WARDS WELL START YOUR TRAINING." Lator told them. The teens complied with his instructions. Once they finished eating Lator meet them in the halls he guided them to blank room on the other side of the building.

"WELCOME TO HEL... I MEAN WELCOME TO YOU'RE FIST DAY OF TRAINING."

"Great more yelling from the lunatic." said Maria with fake joy as she waved her right index finger.

"I AM NOT YELLING NOW PAY ATTENTION YOU NEED THREE THINGS ONE BRAINS TWO STRENGHT AND THREE SURVIVAL INSTINCTS." FIRST I'LL TEACH YOU HOW TO FIGHT AND GAIN STRENGTH SECOND WILL BE SURVIVAL.

"Wouldn't be better if you teach us brain power first then all the other stuff?" Keven asked

"I thought we were going to do some cool stuff not sit in the floor." Melody complained

"WE ARE FIRST YOU HAVE TO REMBER SOMETHING YOU'RE NOT FIGHTING FOR THE COUNTRY YOURE FIGHTING FOR THE WORLD YOUR NOT ALONE WE ARE BEHIND YOU UNDERSTOOD."

"Yeah." The teens replied

"GOOD."

With Lator's training the teens were becoming closer friends towards each other braver stronger and smarter. They each understood one another they created the ultimate bond. The training they went through wasn't easy. They still have more to learn.

Deep within a forest in hidden cave. Bliss brought Taria in he gently places her down in their medical bay. Seeing his partner in this state brought pain with in Bliss. He didn't understand why he felt pain. Bliss put on hold his plans and decided to tend to Taria's wounds.

Deep within Taria's mind the battle she had replayed over. She couldn't help but admire the filthy human who took her down back home she's won many battles heck she's the top female warrior. She was studying her opponent's move learning new ways to destroy him completely.

Bliss shall have revenge for Taria. The alien thought as he summed a screen a dark image showed up. "What do you want Bliss? The image asked in anger.

"Bliss called to report sir."

"Fine what do you have to report?"

"Taria got injured in battle with the earthlings, and Bliss believes the humans somehow found out about the invasion, all the places we attacked happened to be abandoned."

"Hmm this is troubling news if weak earthlings can take Taria down, and stupid ones know of our invasion then you two are no longer needed. Find a way to send in the rest of the fleet."

"Sir the teleported broke and this world doesn't have the resources to make one for a fleet."

"If they can travel to space or predict the invasion they have way it's only a matter of time and finding it."

"Yes sir."

"What happened to me and where am I?" She asked herself loudly

"You're in our base and you got creamed by that human." Bliss informed her in disgust. He was relieved that Taria had survived although he won't admitted.

"Bliss wants to know how you got creamed."

"That not important, what's our next move?"

"Bliss has something big planed Taria rest."

"Why should I rest?"

"Taria injured." With that said Bliss walked away to prepare for their next attack leaving a very confused Taria behind. She shrug and went to get some practice to be on top shape for her next mission.

Back at the HPO headquarters we find the teens relaxing. Keven and Ted were playing a video game when, suddenly the door bursts open and a very angry Lator shows up.

"WHAT ARE YOU BRATS DOING?"

"Playing a video game." Keven responded ignoring the anger of his instructor.

"WHATEVER WHERE'S THE REST OF YOUR TEAM YOU GOT A NEW MISSION."

Well Jewel, Trina, and Brittany went with Anna on a top mission, and Melody and Maria are at the gym. Ted replied.

LET ME SEE IF I GOT THIS RIGHT YOU TWO WASTE YOURE TIME WHILE THE GIRLS HAVE BEEN TRAINING. IS THAT RIGHT?

"No sir we're taking a small break." They responded in union with fear to their towering instructor.

"What's the mission asked?" Maria as she and Melody were coming back from training.

"YOUR MISSION IS TO BRING MIKE. WE GOT A CALL ABOUT SPOTING THE ALIEN, WE SEND HIM IN WHEN HE GOT THERE WE LOST ALL CONTACT WITH HIM. WE THINK IT WAS AN AMBUSH. YOUR MISSION IS RESCUE DO NOT ENGAGE, MARIA YOU LEAD UNDER STOOD."

"Sir yes sir." Maria responded, she signal her team to move out then all of a sudden she stop in realization causing the other three to bump into her.

"WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?"

"Sir we need to know his location sir." Maria told the instructor.

"OH RIGHT SORRY ABOUT THAT." Once they got the location they left in the new craft. This wasn't their first mission they have go on other. They were becoming the best of the best in the last 3 months.

"We're almost here." Keven said as he drove the craft.

"Stop here." Maria ordered

"Why?" Ted asked curiously

"We're walking the rest of the way."

"What seriously?" Melody complained."

"Listen we can sneak in by foot if we go b-

"Car they may hear it." Ted interrupted Maria

"Right." With that covered Maria explained her plan to the others they would use the trees as cover. They kept that, up until they came across a small clearing. Bliss was floating in the sky while Mike was being held upside-down with some sort of anti-gravity machine. "This is a problem." Thought Maria "Okay scatter whoever gets a clear shoot take it." Maria ordered. However bliss noticed Maria.

"Bliss sees you kiddies. Bliss will play with you once he deposes of your friend." AAAAAAAAA bliss screamed in agony. "Which brat dared to harm Bliss?" Bliss asked with venom and fury written in his face. He looked around and noticed Ted with the blaster. Bliss took off to Ted's direction. Ted and Bliss began fighting.

Bliss started the fight with a round house kick, Ted dodged then threw a right hook however bliss managed to block. Bliss counter with a jab. While Ted and Bliss where busy beating on each other Maria took advantage of the situation she climbed a tree then she jump from branch to branch until Maria reached Mike. Unfortunately Taria who had been hidden spot it her and intercept Maria.

"I was wondering where you were." Maria said with malice as she glared at her.

"Do you even know what you're doing or why?" Taria asked as she looked into Marias eye.

"Am protecting my planet from people like you." Maria answered.

"Ha you're just a naive child that has no idea what her people are capable of, or what they've done!" Taria exclaimed in anger as she rushed Maria. Maria got out the way which cause Taria to crash into a tree. Ted and Keven were barley hurting Bliss. Bliss attacked Ted with roundhouse kick which made Keven crash into Ted. Ted push Keven to the side and threw himself at Bliss he grabbed the alien in a headlock Keven punched bliss severally times in the stomach.

"THAT'S ENOUGH!" Bliss yelled at the boys summing all his abilities his elbows and Knees grew spikes.

"Oh we're in trouble." Keven commented

"All we have to do is dodge the spikes." Ted replied

"Its two against one we total got this." Keven stated with enthusiasm, as he rushed the enemy dodging the spikes that came at him.

"Your confident Bliss will destroy you and all of your world." Bliss pulled a bone/spike sword from his back and rushed at the two.

"Hey what happen to the blaster?" Keven asked as he kick Bliss in the face.

"I lost it during the fight." Ted responded.

With both aliens distracted Melody took the opportunity to rescue their alley. She repeated the same process as Maria, once she reached him Melody said "Hang in there."

"Oh you're so funny. Can you get me down now?"

"Am trying this machinery seems to be more complex than our own."

"Just break it." Mike told her

"If you say so." Melody then took out her saber with a mighty swing she destroyed the device. It seem as Mike was falling to his death, however he grabbed a branch and started to climbed back up. Melody help Mike return to the top. Melody and Mike returned to the battle the scene, they found was not a good one. The aliens were winning both Ted, and Keven were on the ground blood surrounding their bodies. The aliens were gaining up on Maria who was on her last strength. As Melody witness her sister being beaten to death she couldn't take it anymore the feeling of uselessness the anger with in her. She couldn't protect her parents, and now she was going to lose her sister. That's when she exploded a blinding light surround her the ground was shaking her eyes turn red, pupils disappeared, her skin turned light blue, and her body grew boney spikes. With unbelievable sped she tor both aliens away from her sister. Melody was out of control she fought Taria in rage. Melody ripped Taria's arm off and use it to beat her.

"MELODY STOP!" Mike ordered Melody turn her attention to Mike she got near him ready to beat him when she saw her reflection in the eyes of her sister who had rushed over to Melody side. "What am I?" Melody questioned herself, as she drop to her knees gripping the ground a look of distress was written all over her face once she realized she killed her enemy savagely and was about to attack her friends. With the little strength Maria had she walked to her sister and gave her a comforting hug.

Chapter 3 Oddills

Bliss escaped from the battle, while Melody was beating on Taria. He limped to his hideout his body was showered in blood. As he reached his distention he couldn't help but to think how he meet her, the love of his live.

His planet was compose of several races there were the red, and light red this were the warriors and guardians of the planet. Then there were the greens, and light greens this was the scientific group. There was the pinks, and light pinks this were held in high respect only because their color represents the planet, and lastly there were the blues and light blues this were the civilians.

The planet was united in some ways we had the warriors on the sky cities just in case of attacks. The intellectuals went to island as to not damage the people, the great and powerful pinks lived in the center of the planet, and the blue's got the underground cities. Don't get me wrong their cities both skies and underground are rich in every resource the planet has to offer. Bliss was born into the blue.

As a child Bliss had dream many people mocked him for it. They said that dreams don't come true, for him it was another story anyway his dream was to be like Oddills first hero his name was Nitram, unfortunately he was a red. Like I mentioned earlier the blues got stuck as civilians. He refused, so snuck into the islands and took any type of book he could. Bliss learned to create and repair just about anything, after four years of fighting Bliss was finally accepted into the academy to learn strategies, and tactics. That's when they meet the most gorgeous light blue, her long green hair those beautiful red eyes. Everything about her was beyond believe. Over time we became friends then teammates. Know she's dead thanks to that hum... no, not human but monster. I BLISS WILL GET MY REVENGE.

"UH excuse me Bliss." A red appear in the back of the cave. The red was taller and more muscular than Bliss, his eyes where yellow, and his hair was purple.

"WHAT?" Bliss asked angrily the red hesitate for a second it was no secret that Bliss loved her.

"Listen Bliss you weren't born a warrior there are thing you don't understand."

"Like what Gleno?"

"Like honor." The man identified as Gleno responded. Bliss simply ignored him and made his way to the control room. Gleno grabbed him by his shoulder causing Bliss to turn around and looked at Gleno's face. Gleno had a serious expression mixed with anger.

"We reds aren't as smart as the greens however we know not to follow a leader blindly." Bliss approached Gleno grabbed him by his shirt "You think am following blindly; they attacked first, then they have the nerve to use one of our own to kill Taria!" Bliss exclaimed angry once he was finished talking he threw Gleno to the ground and continued his path to the control room. The control room was located on the other side of the cave. It had various computers a table with the worlds map some desks. Bliss walked to the monitor in the cave wall. A shadowy figure appeared in the monitor. Bliss bowed to the figure.

"You shall rise my loyal subject and tell me everything." The figure in the monitor commented Bliss stood up as he explained the events that had transpire, when Bliss reached to the human transforming into one of them. "WHAT?" The leader asked angrily.

"Bliss said that a human girl turned into an oddills and not just any oddills she turned into a blue with the abilities of a red."

"I see what did Gleno think?" The figure asked

"Bliss did not tell Gleno anything."

"Good am going to share secret with you Bliss Long ago when our planet was young and our people started to flourish we received a prophecy it goes like this in time of war a foreign oddills shall rise to defend its world. I believe in the prophecy, I also believe its talking about you."

"Me?" Bliss questioned unsure of himself and doubting in his abilities and skills.

"Yes if you recall you changed our planet for the better in only four years normally it takes years you truly are unique Bliss." With that said the figure turned the monitor off.

"Bliss shall make Bliss people proud.

Earth HPO Headquarters

"Doctor how's our new patient doing?" A female voice asked

"A... am... not sure!" The doctor exclaimed "I can't tell if she's dead or in a coma." The only thing that worked was the ex-rays and her insides are different than ours." The doctor explained as he showed her the ex-rays. "This is ridiculous I can't tell were her organs are."

"What, you're a doctor you should know this better than me." The female stated as if it was the most common thing.

"Yes Anna am doctor but am a human doctor my training was for humans not aliens." The doctor explained to her. While they were talking a small sigh sound was heard it went like this sigh... sigh... sigh... sigh. The sound got louder. This caused the doctor and Anna to turn around and see Taria breathing slowly.

"Why... cough... did... you save me?" Taria asked slowly due to the fact that she's still injured from her previous battles.

"I wish I could say it was for a good deed, however that's not the case I need information." Anna told her.

"Why would I give you any info after what you dirty humans did to my home world? Taria questioned as she ran at Anna and threw a punch, Anna than threw a kick. The two women started fighting rapidly. A right hook was thrown by Anna, Taria dodged than she used an upper cut it threw Anna a few feet away. Anna recovered quickly and kick Taria in the stomach. Taria got close enough to knee Anna. Once her knee was connected to Anna's stomach Taria summed her spikes, which penetrated Anna's skin causing her to bleed.

"U... ugh... w... why? Anna asked weakly and spitting out blood.

"You DARE ask me why? Fine, your people attacked us first." Taria explained enraged, as she kick Anna away from her. We oddills were living in peace our king and queen would treat their people with respect and we would treat them the same we prosper we figure ways to live in harmony then one night a star was falling the star hit the planets labs it create it a huge explosion killing millions of people.

"Okay I get why you're mad however that doesn't explain why you're attacking us." The doctor stated.

Taria looked at him with fury in his eyes she simply said "Am getting to that." "Then a man wearing a green pointy hat, a green robe, and green gloves came out of it. You want to know what he did he kept on killing children, women, ill, and elderly every time he destroyed he would exclaim for earth. Our hero Nitram came to face this monster in blink of an eye our hero was gone. Then that monster leaves with a message you oddills are pathetic we will take your world for our self then he destroys the monument that stood for freedom."

"Wait did you say Nitram?" the doctor asked with actual curiosity building inside of him.

"Yeah, what is to you?" Taria asked

"H... He... w... ugh... was a W... WW2... hero." Anna said as she struggled to get up "He saved many lives." The doctor continued for Anna, as he rushed to her side to help her.

"YOU'RE LYING!" Taria exclaimed angrily "It's impossible my people saw him die." Taria continued she shed a few tears as she remembers the onslaught her people suffered.

"D...Do you thing spreading lies about my people is funny?" Taria asked them.

"No, you see the earths had heroes as well he was a member of the Dino (die-no) team earths first heroic team."

"That's impossible the explosion killed millions and Nitram was the first to go!" Taria exclaimed in surprise of this news.

"Did your people ever found a body?" the doctor asked her.

"I wasn't born at the time, but the story goes like this; Nitram the bravest red ever to exit came when he saw chaos fall upon our world he charged at the human valiantly as he looked dead in its eyes his last words were if I die it's for your protection then a blinding light the explosion fallowed quickly."

"Maybe he was teleported to our world in the past." The doctor explained to his company while he was taken care of the women's injuries throughout their fight.

"How can I be sure you're telling the truth? "Tara asked him. "We do keep track of our history." The doctor explained.

Two days after the monstrous battle with bliss Melody felt horrible uncertain with many questions flowing around her head like: what if she loses control? Where did this power come? Why give it to her? Is she half human? What would her friends think of her? Most of her team was knock out with the exception of Maria and Mike. Melody was terrified of this new found power if she learned to control it be amazing.

"Hey their why so glum?" a strong male voice asked from behind her a voice she would never forget.

"Hey Mike just thinking of the events that took place with me and Taria."

"The riders and I were thinking maybe we can help you control it."

"You told them?"

"I had to they are my team, besides Jason wants a report after every mission we take."

"Why would you do that?"

"Listen you have great power within you. We can use that to stop this senseless fighting." Mike explained to the girl. Melody stood in thought if I can control it I can save many my family would not have died in vain.

"Fine you convinced me. When do we start" Melody asked with excitement at thought of being able to help others better than before.

"We start within 2 hours for now enjoy the day." Mike responded as he left. Melody took her leave as well no point in crying over spilt milk. Mike went to visit Taria, for some reason or the other he felt compel to visit her. She is a blue beauty after all. Mike thought as he made his way to the emergency wing ever since they brought her hear he would visit her every day for 2 hours, however this time would be different. Mike entered Taria's prison.

"Well hello, is someone trying to escape?" He asked already knowing the answer to his question since he caught her red handed.

"I may not free myself now but the end is near for you!" Taria exclaimed as she counted from 1-10 in her mind. At that moment the wall blew and a tall red oddills shows up.

"How did he found you? This place is hidden from everyone." Mike asked stated as well his body was trembling.

"We oddills knew that one of us would have to get caught just to find our favorite play things." Taria responded.

"Hold it Taria am not here to fight them only to free you." The red oddills explained to his female companion.

"What kind red are you? Taria asked rhetorically. "You should be all like Ill defeat you evil doers no one will harm her." Taria continued with her rant.

"I don't think their evil, we've been miss led." Gleno stated

"Bliss may like to act tough but he never hurt innocents." Taria replied in anger not believing that their leader would do such a thing.

"Bliss is being miss lead as well."

BY W- Taria was interrupted by Mike "wait what you're saying you're attacking us because some idiot told you to?" Gleno and Taria ignored Mikes question and continued talking among themselves. "By who?" Taria asked him calmly as she left her prison

"Am not sure who's behind all of these however we better get out of here." Gleno told Taria as he grabbed her by her wrist and pulled her to his side.

"Wow I can't just let you leave." Mike told them.

"Very well if you wish to die." Gleno states as he got into battle position, Mike did the same

Gleno threw the first punch which went a lot faster than either Bliss or Taria.

That didn't stop Mike he launched at Gleno however in the last minute the alien dodged his attack and kick Mike a few feet away.

[Rats that guy hits harder than Bliss and he already hits pretty hard not to mention his sped it's incredible.] Mike thought as he rushed Gleno from behind. Gleno just stood there. Mike took the opportunity to kick him in the back. Gleno fell to the ground and as if nothing happened he got back up again.

"Who are you?" Mike asked as he sighed heavily from the small battle.

"My name is Gleno Rett I am from the warrior side of my planet you fought valiantly but sloppy." Gleno stated as he Taria took their leave.

Chapter 4 attack on base

Bliss had fallowed Gleno since he was order to. He took advantage of the situation here was their enemy base so why not destroy it when given the chance. Bliss used the transformation device he recently created and turned into human he walked the grounds looking for information and of course weakness of his enemies. Bliss took the opportunity to plant a few virus in the Main computer he then took his leave without being noticed or so he thought unknown to him a figure had been fallowing him ever since he enter. The mystery man hid behind a wall he reached for his blaster. The man slowly revealed himself to be Keven.

Keven blasted Bliss several times without warning. Once he was sure Bliss was out of commission he walked up to the computer and tried to fix it however it turned out to be too late. Portals all over the sky were opening.

"Attention this is Keven Bliss was here I took him down he did something am not sure what." Keven send a message through the speakers.

"Y... You ... late." Bliss said faintly as he felt his pain and body slip away.

"What did you do?" Keven asked angrily. Once Anna heard the message she order them to evacuate as she didn't want to take any chances than she went for her nieces.

Melody was with the riders training to control her new found abilities whatever she did previously was not coming out. They were far away from the city and base. "Has anyone seen Mike?" Jason the leader of the group asked.

"I was with him a few hours ago he said he'd be here." Melody answered him.

"Thank s for the reply but I need you to stay focus on the mission." Jason ordered.

"Alright Melody you need to revisit your fight with Taria." Tim commented while fixing his device. "How is she going to do that?" Ned asked him.

"The solution is simply she has to remember what she felt." Tim replied to Ned's question.

"What did you feel?" Jason asked Melody

"Well I felt a bunch different stuff first was useless Maria and the others were doing the hard par.t I couldn't free Mike without him telling me what do. Next was sadness my parents past on, because they were trying to save my sister, and me I couldn't avoided their demise. The last was rage I refused to lose all the people that matter to me I was not going to let them go without a fight and something in me snapped." Melody told them.

"So to unlock your hidden abilities we have to resurface those feelings again in that order." Tim explained walking in circles.

"How do we get her to fell it again?" Jason asked

"Well there are three of us and three emotions she needs to fell." Ned told them

"I get it we each amplify one of those emotions." Tim told them. Once they discovered how to unlock her powers they started to get to work. Ned was trying to make her fell useless, Tim was trying to make her sad and, Jason was making her angry. To achieve their goal the riders surround her.

While all this was going on Maria had found Mike injured in the detained facility to her horror Taria had escaped. She saw the whole that was blasted in the wall. Then she saw portals popping out of no were and then there was Keven's voice in the speaker saying'

Attention this is Keven Bliss was here I took him down he did something am not sure what.

Maria took her hologram watch and contacted Keven.

"Kev I have bad news there green holes in the sky it looks like fleet is coming." Once her message was send she pulled Mike to the medical center. Brittany, and Trina spend most of their time in the medical center. They had heeled Maria's group from their battle against the oddills. At the moment Maria entered the room with a knockout Mike.

"He needs help fast, and get my team up here now!" Maria ordered. Jewel, Keven, and Ted arrived a few minutes after the call.

Where's Mel-... Maria was interrupted by a creature crashing through the wall. The creature's eyes were red with no pupils, the skin was light blue, the body was female, and her hair was red and long. Maria and her friends took a glimpse and realized this was Melody. Maria went into leader mode and started to give them orders while she fought her sister "Kev take them to the weaponry take whatever you need and help out their also take the lead."

"What about you?" Keven asked her as he dodged an incoming blow from Melody.

"I'll be fine." Maria stated while she kicked her sister on look into Keven's face told her that he was extremely worried about her. "Oh and once this all over the answer to your question is yes." Maria told him as she blocked a punch. The fight between the sisters was evenly matched which is concerning considering the fact that Maria has no special ability.

Are you sure? Keven asked one more time.

Yeah am sure now go and save the damn planet! Maria exclaimed

"Alright guys you herd her to the weaponry after we get what we need. We'll dived our attention Trina and Brittany you to help the injured get them to safety the rest of us will handle the threat."

"Hey Keven what about Maria and Melody?" Jewel asked as they reached the weaponry. Jewel took two the laser swords, Ted took the hyper blaster and a few energy bombs, Brittany and Trina took medical supplies and blasters, and Keven already had his weapons.

"They'll be fine." The group entered the battle field fighting the army of reds that came their way. Brittany and Trina wear moving the civilians to a safety zone. "Hey Keven I know this is probably a bad time to ask but, what she meant by the answer to your question was yes?" Ted asked as he took down three reds.

"I asked her to marry me after the whole Melody incident." Keven responded as he blasted two reds away.

Huh, no flipping way, really you. His teammates responded at the same time.

"Is it really that shocking that I propose to her?"

"No, it's shocking that she said yes?" Brittany answered trough the ear links

"Yeah, remember how she was when we first met her?" Trina asked

We were on our second year of high school. We had known each other for years, then they came the Moregurra sisters one was so shallow, but sweet and some what kind, while the other was horrifying mean. Didn't care about any one, or at least that what she would have you believe. Until we discover her secret that she was only like that for fear of rejection. Her fear was a bit irrational she thought everyone was out to get her. Jewel told the story.

"Okay enough reminiscing we need to protect the people." Keven ordered as he charged to an army of reds. The oddills warriors came and they were more dangerous then the previous group.

With Maria and Melody. The two girls were fighting with melody on the offensive and Maria on defense. "Come on Mel control the beast." Maria rolled away, all melody could do was roar in response to her sisters pleas. "Am the only thing you got and you're the only thing I have please look me in the eyes." No matter how much Maria talked to her sister everything fell into deaf ears. Melody just kept attacking Maria to almost an inch of her life. Melody was preparing the finishing blow when Anna came to the rescue by kicking Melody on the side "Listen this is not you!" Anna exclaimed she charged at the transformed melody and gave her a hug. The beast was calming down and Melody emerged or at least her mind.

"How would you know?" Melody asked in tears, she was afraid not of the war but of herself seeing what she did to her beloved sister. It was too much for her to bare she burst into tears. Anna reached Melody's ear and whispered "I know because I was there." That stopped her crying. "Are you some kind of stalker?" "What, no you see it's complicated but my name is Maria Anna Moreguerra. Anna told Melody. "My sis is about to die, and you make jokes like that, what kind of aunt are you." Melody asked her in anger. "Melody you're not from this time. I have the same name as your sister because she, and I are the same person and you're our daughter I bought you to the past.
