When your best friend’s a vigilante who every now and then needs to discreetly crash at your place. But you’re terrible at lying.
Basically introducing my hc that back in highschool, Higari was a vigilante and would sometimes need to crash at Ecto's place for safety. His sister quickly found out but Ecto bribed her with covering for her when she snuck out to parties.
Also just my excuse to draw them when they were younger. And also my oc for Ecto's sister, Koemi :]
Bonus:

She knew anyway. And now Yuna also knows :]

Sketch of your Winry is fem Izuku au
Tumblr media
Kgfogxkxjfxjxjcjchchcjchchcchjcchcj
OH GOD I LOVE IT OH GOD.
HEADCANON TIME FOR THIS WONDERFUL ART:
-Izuku is a transwoman in this AU thanks to Winry’s memories. Her memories are sort of a vague ‘ah nostaglic’ sort of thing but are still memories.
-Reincarnation Quirks aren't uncommon. Just most of the time they have powers to. But due to this it was less bad for Izuku. Still not great thanks to Bakugou but honestly Izuku kind of ignores him. He’s kind of just there to her.
-At first Izuku didn't give a damn about heroics. She wanted to build things. Then she learned all support gear is licensed by heroes who control who gets it/if its public. Anything she makes would belong to them. So she decides no, she's gonna be a hero to sell her stuff to help people.
-Inko is a good mom in this Au. I'm half tempted to have her also be a reincarnation but from a different universe.
-Momo is actually Edward. He's a transguy in this AU. He and Izuku recognize each other on sight. Instantly end up back together.
-Bakugou hates it because one-sided bakudeku is good for my soul. He is unaware Izuku has more or less ignored him their whole lives, he's convinced there's some childhood romance bullshit going on. Meanwhile MomoDeku are living it out still.
-Due to Izuku focusing more on gear, she idolized Powerloader. He is thrilled by her enthusiasm. Less so by Hatsume who ends up being put on Red Flag when she crosses to many lines. Mei and Izuku have a rivalry after this.
-Izuku and Momo are the only two from FMAB. It hurts sometimes.
-Iida is Izuku’s best friend.
-As Izuku is less poke her nose into things, its Momo who fights with Todoroki about his family stuff. Izuku does smack Iida though about his vengeance bullshit.
-Izuku still gets dragged into everything. Cause she's the protagonist.
-I kind of want more drama so toss in more one sided stuff and the arrogant assumptions one person is better for them then their partner.
-Iida loses his arm even though he doesn't go all vengeance. Izuku builds him automail. And it is beautiful.

BG3 NPC-Oc's
Something I haven't seen much of (if any) yet in the BG3 fandom is Oc's that aren't Tav's. There's so much love for some of the NPC's that we all wish we could romance, (I'm looking at you, Zevlor, Rolan, Dammon ect) and such a wide variety of side quests and little interactions you can do with the existing NPC's that it feels like almost every playthrough you discover one you didn't realize you Could do something with.
The sheer breadth of the game leaves plenty of wiggle room to just...add your own. Romanceable, potential new companion, a flesh out to an area you wished you could have done more with in one particular area of the map?
So....my question is what kind of NPC Oc would you all make?
Disclaimer: There's a healthy dose of indulgent creative liberty with my NPC's quest triggers\backstory think of it as a What If for the game not something meant to fully mesh 100%.
Here's mine:
Name: Micarbryn (Mica to friends\lovers) She\Her pronouns.
Seldarine Lolth Drow: Notable Features: Unusual eye color for Drow, Scarring across left side of face, partial left ear, artificer mobility aid covering left elbow down to fingertips disguised as a gauntlet. Age:300
Class: Artificer: Alchemist\Fighter: Psi Warrior Cross Class.
Romanceable\Companion addition: Yes: Poly Options with Halsin, Astarion, Shadowheart
(more details under cut now with added character pictures!)
Location in game: Underdark
Quest triggers: Freeing suspiciously intelligent runt phase spider from trap who offers to take you to "The Crafter" for a reward.
Stumbling on cache of coded paperwork in locked chest (pass an INT or WIS check to decode) that gives location of a safehouse "The Den".
Siding with the group of masked\disguised raiders that attack a Drow settlement to free a group of slaves.
Stage 2 (addition to camp) quest trigger: Coming back to the Den to trade only to find it raided, speaking with a survivor (or dead body) informs you that Mica was taken to Moonrise.
Freeing\Finding her along with the tiefling's and other captives at Moonrise offers a quest line depending on what kind of run your doing:
"Good" Run: Waking to find that she's snuck off in the middle of the night while still near to critically injured and Halsin has followed her.
Durge Run: Waking to find her hovering over you with her chains wrapped around your neck, (succeed on a STR or CHA check to convince her not to kill you)
Approval actions: Persuasion: using your charms to better your situation, Intimidation: dealing with upstarts or enemies, Deception: protecting your companions\allies, and Kindness choices, Ie: Helping the Mycanoids, Tieflings, Barcus Wroot, the deep Gnomes ect (you can ask for compensation but following through is key)
Disapproval actions: Unnecessary cruelty in dialog or actions, making promises you wont keep, choices that allow others to be exploited or their secrets outed.
Discoverable backstory:
Her family was secretly not affiliated with Lolth, their right of passage for its daughters on their coming of age birthday (100th) they have to find a good act to do to better the life of someone other Drow would deem lesser. Mica was on a trip with her mother to another city and saw a captive Halsin, turned to her mother and answered 'I know what I want for my birthday'. It then became her sole responsibility to make sure he was freed without it tracing back to her family as a test of her skills.
Family’s fall from grace and her subsequent journey to becoming a sort of Robin Hood meets Powerloader (my hero) meets Captain Amelia (treasure planet) happens roughly fifty years after she freed him (In "Good Run" Durge style run is a different timeline with other...options >:3) next time she sees Halsin is in Moonrise.
Did a quick creation of an approximation of her current age of 300 and what she looked like when she would have first met Halsin at 100. And also have a spotify playlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's it for now, I may do some fic snippets of her, maybe look for some art....

Midnight Siren
Chapter One: Beginnings
Romantic relationship: Hitoshi Shinso x y/n (female/AFAB)
General warnings: This is a SLOW BURN relationship (I'm so sorry it takes awhile). There will eventually be smut. Some chapters contain mature/dark themes (i.e., family abuse, sibling death, sex, cursing, etc.) This is also an aged-up fanfiction where the characters are in college instead of high school. I will do my best to put specific warnings at the beginning of each chapter. This is also my first fanfiction. All feedback is welcome so long as it is respectful. This is also a WIP. I'm hoping you all will like it as I'm really excited to share it with you. :)
Anything spoken/thought or from Shinso's POV will be in purple.
MINORS: DO NOT INTERACT BELOW THE "KEEP READING" BREAK.
You really didn’t know what you were expecting.
Having just been accepted to join class 1A in the hero course, you KNEW that you would need to train harder just to catch up. You made the choice to switch from the support course when you were told that you were wasting your quirk by tinkering with nuts and bolts. You never really considered your quirk as being something worthy of being called “hero,” so you always just stuck with your smarts.
I mean... you thought, It’s not like it’s a super flashy quirk. It’s nothing like the ones I saw at the UA sport’s festival. I’m not sure what Mr. Powerloader means. I can read minds and affect the emotional atmosphere. Big whoop. It’s not like I can kick ass or anything.
Thinking back on the fights you witnessed during the sport’s festival sends a bit of a chill down your spine. How am I going to compete with that? Remembering the massive explosions and the dramatic hand-to-hand combat was not something you had readily available in your wheelhouse. The most training you have in that regard was evasive combat training for the simple sake of being able to test out the effectiveness of different equipment projects throughout your support course studies.
But dammit if I’m not going to try.
After all, your smarts have gotten you this far and your gut is telling you you’ve made the right choice.
Of course, if not, you could always drop out of college and start some circus side show or something.
OKAY, DON’T FREAK OUT. It’s not like I’ve just made the biggest mistake of my life (career wise)...I hope.
You lay back on your bed and sigh, thinking about all of the possible outcomes to your recent decisions. Feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders, wondering if you really have what it takes to be a pro.
No, I don’t get to doubt what my teachers have told me. If they think I have the power to become a hero, then fuck my self-doubt. I’ll just figure it out as I go along. Plus, I’m not the only one transferring into the hero course so at least I’m not alone...
In an effort to get you and the other transfer student some additional training, it was suggested by Principal Nezu that you both be taken to the same training camp that ended abruptly for classes 1A and 1B just a short while ago.
What could possibly go wrong?
Of course, the likelihood of something happening again was probably pretty slim. And it helped that it would just be you, the other student from general studies, and Mr. Aizawa. It would likely be difficult to get kidnapped when you were just one of two students going. Besides, you couldn’t be on any list for targeting. NO ONE EVEN KNEW ABOUT YOUR FULL QUIRK, except for a few professors.
Stop. Freaking. Out.
Taking a deep breath, you focus on your room in your tiny apartment. You grabbed a suitcase and packed enough of the necessities for two weeks. Mr. Aizawa didn’t provide much information regarding the type of training that you would be doing but seeing as it was at some sort of camping ground, you figured it prudent to pack for a more outdoorsy terrain.
After checking, double checking, and then triple checking, you determine that you packed everything and decide to get some sleep. Tomorrow would be here before you knew it and you had no idea what was in store. Better to be rested than sorry.
~*~
Walking up to the bus stop right outside of UA, you feel your heart start to race a little. Is this really happening? You truly had never dreamed of becoming a hero, feeling that it was just something out of your reach. Not to say that it wasn’t something that excited you, something that you had WISHED was possible.
It wasn’t long after the UA sport’s festival that you had been picking up on talk around campus. During one of the fights that took place with the top 16 students, the one from the general studies course had made quite the impact on the people in the stands. Hitoshi Shinso. You remember hearing around campus and even from some of the tabloids that UA had done a disservice by not having him in the hero course. Of course, the entrance exam would have been nearly impossible for him to pass since his quirk could only affect people, not machines, which is why he wasn’t able to pass.
That would mean he is somewhat similar to me…
Of course, you also thought that this may have been a motivation by the professors to suggest that YOU consider transferring as well. At least, that’s what some of the “mindful chatter” led you to believe.
Wrapped up in your own thoughts, you suddenly hear outside voices enter your mind.
Ah, yes, good. Right on time.
This must be the other transfer student. I wonder why she left the support course...
Aizawa was pleased to see that both of his new students were actually a little early to the departure station. Of course, early is “on time.” And you knew this without him saying a word.
Well, at least out loud.
You offer a warm smile to both of the men before you, bowing, and offer a sincere greeting.
I’m excited for the opportunity to not only transfer but to also have additional training in an effort to catch up to the students in the 1A hero course. I know I have a long way to go but I just want to say that it is not lost on me and for that I am grateful.”
You look towards the indigo haired man and add, “If I may add, seeing you at the sport’s festival is one of the reasons I was inspired to transfer myself. I look forward to working with you, should you be so inclined.”
He offered an initial look of disbelievement, followed by a shy and tired smile. He reached up a hand to rub the back of his neck.
Aizawa was the one to break the silence. “Very well. I trust that the both of you will work well together, which is why we decided to have this two week training course with the both of you instead of just supplemental one-on-one training with me. Now that introductions are over, let’s not waste anymore time.”
Someone...thought I was...inspiring?
You climb on the bus after the two men, eyes still on the back of the other student. You smile to yourself as you could feel through Vibe his tired exterior lift a little.
~*~
The bus ride was fairly quiet. Thankfully, because it was just the three of you, there weren’t too many thoughts floating around in the air for your brain to latch onto. Both Aizawa and Shinso had a peaceful mind space during the drive.
Or maybe that was because they both looked like they had pulled all-nighters.
Either way, you were relieved that you didn’t have to try too hard to drown out anyone else’s thoughts during the nearly hour long drive to the training ground. But just for safe measure, and to allow them both privacy in their own thoughts, you pop in your AirPods and listen to some early 2000s emo/punk music and doze off during the drive.
The bus lurched and then stopped suddenly. Your eyes flashed open as you saw the two men reach for the handles to exit the bus, Aizawa exiting on the driver’s side and Shinso opening the passenger sliding door.
Suddenly, your mind was filled with unwanted thoughts from individuals whose voices you did not yet recognize.
Stretching slightly, you get up from your seat and grab your suitcase to disembark the vehicle. Upon your exit, you are met with some rather loud hellos.
“Hello and welcome to our humble training ground! I am Mandalay of the Wild, Wild Pussycats and we are excited that you two have decided to pursue becoming heroes! Myself, along with Pixie-Bob and Tiger, will be doing our best to assist you in your training here. We have been informed by Mr. Aizawa that your training might look a little different from the traditional training we are used to providing but what is a hero if they can’t be flexible?”
Interesting. So I wonder how different our training will be from the rest of our classmates? You attempted to sift through the minds of the trainers but there was too much happening at once to be able to latch onto any useful information as far as trying to figure out what you would be in for during the next two weeks. You were also interested in trying to better understand the other student here with you as you had heard around campus that “he wasn’t here to make friends.” You couldn’t deny liking the idea of a challenge and you had an advantage with your mind reading abilities. You admired his ambition but also recognized that the “frosty” exterior that had been running through the gossip mill likely had more to do with wanting to keep people at arm’s length as a coping skill rather than an actual desire of his...
You also had to chuckle to yourself when you considered the fact that the two newest hero course students had quirks that could do some SERIOUS mind-fucking.
You turn your head slightly to look at the two men who you just spent the last hour with in a quiet bus only to catch Aizawa staring at the both of you.
This should be interesting. You hear him think.
“Well, come on you all! We’ll show you to your rooms and then get started with the day!” Pixie-Bob exclaimed. Her mind was shouting in the same amount of excitement.
I can already feel a headache coming on...
~*~
After being shown to your room, Mandalay gave you a tour of the camp ground. It was nice, just her showing you as her mind didn’t scream as loudly as the other Pussycats. Pixie-Bob was just so full of energy and Tiger, while he wasn’t exactly the over-the-top type, his intensity for the upcoming training was putting a lot of stress on your mind.
“And this is where you’ll be able to freshen up whenever you get a spare moment. Since you are the only girl here, it may even feel like a spa day! You’ll have the whole spring to yourself. The boys have their own.” Mandalay gestured out a sliding door to a beautiful hot spring. Just taking it all in was enough to calm your nerves. It smelled heavenly, like lavender flowers and amber musk. The effects the sight and smells had on you felt as though you were using your own quirk against yourself, bringing everything to a calm, hazy daydream. That, coupled with the fact that it was outside, felt like the perfect place you would need after a hard day of training. Maybe this will be a nice two weeks...
“Alright, now that we have you oriented to your new temporary home, let’s get some training started!”
~*~
Well, this is different.
Obviously, training to be a hero is WAY different from training to be in the support course. You initially thought that the main objective would be to learn how to kick ass and take names.
But instead, Aizawa wanted you to work on endurance with your quirk.
Shinso was already set up in his arena working on whatever it was that Aizawa had instructed him to do. He appeared to be working with a similar scarf that Aizawa wore, something you had learned was a binding cloth used as a capture tool.
You recollect Shinso’s performance at the UA sports festival, though you mostly just watched the top 16 battle it out and not the Cavalry battle. You remember seeing him do virtually nothing to his opponent, Izuku Midoriya, and still manage to make him almost walk out of the ring without even laying a finger on him. Brainwashing...that must’ve been difficult to grow up with...I’m sure it made it difficult for people to want to be close to him.
The part of your quirk that you call Vibe allows you to alter the emotional atmosphere. As a result, it takes virtually no effort to feel empathy towards others, even with very little information about them.
You watch him from across the arena, seeing an intense look of focus wash over his face as he continues to work with the cloth that he desperately wants to master.
“Y/N, with a quirk like yours, I imagine it can be difficult to focus on one person’s mind at a time when you are in a crowded space. Is my assumption correct?” Aizawa paused, waiting for an answer he already knew.
“Yes sir, as a general rule. The more familiar I am with a particular person’s mind, however, the easier it is for me to pick them out of a crowd. With that being said, I’m not particularly fond of crowds for the very reason of having too much going on in my brain at once. It can be difficult to even know my own thoughts from someone else’s if there are too many people around. I often get headaches if I’m in that kind of environment for too long.” You reply confidently, knowing that your teacher, though you’ve only known him a short while, values a student who is able to accurately label their weaknesses so that they can be improved upon.
“I see. Well, I believe it would be wise for you to work on honing in on specific people’s thoughts in a crowded room as well as improve your ability to focus on your own. Once we are able to get you to a confident place, we’ll start by enhancing your range, meaning expanding the distance your quirk can reach in terms of mind reading.”
You nod, understanding the objective. “This makes sense, but sir, won’t I need some people around for that to be effective? So far, I’ve only seen the three Pussycats, yourself, and Shinso.”
“You bring up an excellent point. Which is why classes 1A and 1B will be joining us for a short time today.”
OH SHIT. I’m officially meeting ALL OF THESE PEOPLE TODAY?!

Note
For No One Left Behind, I keep trying to think who in class 1–A won’t be adopted by the Midoriya clan.
15 kids, one of whom will probably still be class 1-H (poor powerloader, he will never escape his Problem Child), so that’s six slots because I’m assuming this is a ‘dropkick grape boy out the window’ au.
Let’s see, we’ve got Aoyama, Tsu, Shouji, Sato, Hagakure, Jiro, Tokoyami, Ojiro, Iida, Kaminari.
Aoyama is a toss up - if u plan on keeping that part of canon, he needs to probs stay with his family for now, but I have no doubt you could tweak that with satisfying results.
Tsu is probably okay? But she’s got the younger sibling to fill the one of three ‘younger children’ slots, so…
Shouji is absolutely getting adopted, his backstory is super tragic.
Sato doesn’t have any flags he’s throwing up, whcih doesn’t mean he’s safe, but I’m willing to bet he’ll be safe until ua when he gets absorbed into the wider clan by proximity.
Hagakure I’m leaning towards getting adopted. She’s got a quirk that could make home life difficult for her.
I think Jiro will be safe until ua, just a bibe I’m getting.
Tokoyami is absolutely adoption bait.
Ojiro will probably be fine?
Iida’s got a loving family so unless something drastic happens he’s probably staying there.
Kaminari I could absolutely see getting adopted. Honey has some struggles that the Midoriyas could help with and he doesn’t seem to be getting the quirk support or regular support he needs in canon.
So my current guess is that Hagakure, Tokoyami, Kaminari, and Shouji get adopted pre-UA, with the other six pending depending on what happens at UA.
Ooh good guesses :D

Yo I'm happy to see someone else wanting that too!! I just made a post asking people who they would make for Companion NPC's.
I'm pretty sure that @thetrashppl is doing this for their character Tavaris (all hail Tavaris he is absolutely adorable and I love his story)
Shameless plug of my own I'm currently writing a fic snippet for under the cut, I'd love to see others. She has a char creation image and a spotify playlist.
Age:300

Disapproval actions: Unnecessary cruelty in dialog or actions, making promises you wont keep, choices that allow others to be exploited or their secrets outed.
Discoverable backstory:

Did a quick creation of an approximation of her current age of 300
Tumblr media
one thing I'm surprised and a little sad that I haven't seen more of is that genre of ‘PC-as-companion’ posts that are/were so popular with the dragon age fandom (specifically mostly DAI?). like, people were making whole wiki pages' worth of how their no-longer-inquisitors would be recruited, if they'd be a romance and/or whether they'd hook up with someone else if unromanced, their approval changes, banters with other party members... it was so cool!!!! i haven't seen any of that with people's tavs! we should bring that back!!!

Could you do Powerloader meeting Mei Hatsume’s dad? (Platonic that turns romantic)
Sure! I'm not too confident on Powerloaders personality so let me know what you think! I can't find any gifs of him :(
Male reader
Powerloader Dating Mei's Dad
Tumblr media
The first time you met Powerloader had gone to explain that the students would be living in the dorms due to the attack. When he walked in he smiled thinking of how handsome you were and how happy you and Mei looked in your family photos.
While talking he felt relieved at how kind and understanding you were, especially compared to some other parents he had talked to.
As you offered him a drink the two of moved to more non-work related conversations, mostly about hobbies, what you did for work, ect.
Powerloader had grown closer to you since that day, going to house for updates on Mei and the situations at school that could've been emailed but he just wanted to speak with you again.
Eventually he had finally worked up the courage to ask you on a date. When he picked you up he did his best to dress up, putting on a suit and attempting to style his usually messy hair. He even talked Hatsume into telling him what you liked so he could pick up your favorite flower and bring you to your favorite restaurant. (Even if it's not a place people would normally dress up he went all out.)
He'd bring you back to your house blushing trying to figure out if he's supposed to kiss you or not so if you want a kiss from him you'll most likely have to initiate it. He's not usually shy but he is when it comes to romance and affection.
A/N: I have realized there is zero content for Powerloader so I'll probably make some headcanons for him too soon

Wait so if most of the UA teachers and students work for the Yamada family in the mafia AU, who works for Nedzu?
Actually, a majority of the teachers work for Nedzu; you can find All might, Ectoplasm, 13, and Cementoss working there. Some can also be found into the other families as well, like Tensei (Powerloader works here) and Momo’s
As for the students, they’re also dispersed across the families though a majority work under Nedzu, except for Deku who primarily works at the Bakery!

Food For Thought 37
(Minor spoiler for Endevour’s fate at the end of the Manga)
I have so many Yuri x Riley thoughts you don’t understand, I never got to expand their story if you will, but it’s essentially a childhood friends, turned academia rivals, turned lovers
And while Riley does *eventually* learn that Yuri likes her romantically and they do get together, I like to think Riley is still as dumb as a sack of bricks when it comes to the relationship.
Endevour, Yuri’s grandpa, strikes me as the type of dad who with Fuyumi, would have wanted to meet Tensai before hand (I never posted Yuri’s ref but incase I didn’t mention it, Yuri’s parents are Fuyumi and Tensai, Iida’s brother), and the same extends to Yuri.
Endevour expected someone…well, less head in the clouds like, but Riley is what Yuri decided she liked. And what’s even more frustrating, is Riley is 100% immune to Endevours threats and resting grump face
I have a scenario in mind where, before Yuri has told her grandpa and grandma about her relationship with Riley, the two families run into each other while picking the girls up from their middle school. And Riley, in all her well meaning stupid brain glory, decides to give Yuri a kiss on the cheek before she goes to see her dads
Que flames steadily rising on Endevour’s shoulders while Powerloader and Ectoplasm rush to get Riley out of the line of fire, and Riley happily waving goodbye to Yuri who is rapidly trying to calm her grandpa down

Dark Shadow acts younger than the rest of class 1-A and is perceived as the class’ little sibling (56)
Darkness might make DS less intelligent? (Their speech gets simpler when they’re on the verge of a rampage) (57)
Fumikage can physically shove DS back into his body if DS is small enough (58)
Shoji is class dad, reconfirmed (60)
There is a niche c-tier car movie called Ridge-racers: Righteous Car Crusade with a cult-following.(63)
Nezu’s been hanging out in a decommissioned UA death trap (67)
Actually, It was not, In fact, a decommissioned UA death trap but a storage unit for Hatsume’s dangerous inventions/ Powerloader’s playground. (71- 72)
Power loader likes cars. And C movies (72)
Power loader is an introvert, and keeps the other UA staff at arms length but is closest to Cementoss (73)
Jirou’s family plays at the venue they met every new year (77)
For tonight and possibly online tonight:
I will be live posting as I read the 5th MHA light novel with the cool shit I find.
Enjoy

For your imprint au is Izuku’s eye affected. It seems like he would be blind or at least visually impaired in the eye where the handprint scar is.
Oh yeah, he totally is. He might not be blind in that eye, but he would not be allowed to drive without glasses and shouldn’t sit in the last row of the classroom. But just like with his taste-buds, he never really thought about it.
The scar-side-eye is definitely short-sighted and he can get headaches from the difference to his good eye (which he started complaining more about as he attended classes like a regular student). With his high pain tolerance and frequent injuries that heal faster than the norm, he just never thought it important to mention. He instinctively “shields” that side of his face anyway and tends to turn his body accordingly.
And it’s not Aizawa who finds out about it, but Tenya! When he was assigned to watch over and keep Izuku in check, he dragged him to classes and made him take notes, learn, study, that sort of stuff. That obviously gave Izuku more headaches as he tried focusing on the board on a regular basis (which also fueled his hate for classes in general).
It’s only when they already moved into the dorms and Izuku participates in the room-king-thingy that his eye-sight gets more attention. Obviously, Iida has like a truck load of glasses and everyone asks if they could try them on. Mina is asking if they suit her, Kirishima almost breaks one and Yuga puts some sparkles on the one he wears, voguing through the room. It takes a while but Iida gets his glasses back – all unharmed - and as they leave, he notices Izuku squinting hard at him:
Iida clicks the door shut behind him, maybe a bit too relieved to move on - and comes face to face with a thoughtfully squinting Midoriya. Right into his eyes.
“Are you okay?”
“I don’t know if I should ask or not.”
Midoriya tilts his head and squints some more. His way of asking for permission, as Tenya recognizes after months of catching him up on schoolwork and wrestling him into classes. Tenya takes a breath and walks after the others who have already stumbled into Kaminaris room with fanfare. Midoriya wasn’t actively trying to ask unnerving questions or say inappropriate things as Tenya has to remind himself every time he is faced with the “squint-of-questioning” - as Uraraka had dubbed it.
But he still feels himself mentally brace for what could be an unpleasant question as he says:
“Then I encourage you to ask and I will do my best to answer.”
Midoriya, trotting beside him, loosens up his squint and nods as Mina shoves everyone back outside, urging Koda one room over. Tenya just gets a quick glimpse of Kaminaris room as he closes the door properly since everybody is stumbling over each other to be the first.
“Why do your glasses have one blurry side?”, Midoriya pipes up and fidgets in place. “Seems impractical.”
Tenya looks up - or rather down - at Midoriya and frowns.
“Indeed, that would be impractical but I'm not sure what you mean?”
“Well, when I put your glasses on, one side was very blurry and one was clear. Aren’t glasses supposed to help you see better?”
They stop following the others, as Tenya watches Midoriyas confused frown and expectant stare. Suddenly, he can’t stop himself from glancing at his scar, remembering the times he has watched the other boy squinting at things or rubbing his eyes after a long school day and frowns right back.
“Which side was blurry?”, he asks and Midoriya points to his right eye. The eye without a scar.
“Super-duper blurry. I can ask Powerloader to fix the one that's broken for you if you want.”
Baffled, Tenya just nods as a thought or rather a suspicion dawns on him. Tenya quickly decides to take his glasses off and holds them out.
“Uhm, Midoriya, would you mind trying these on for me?”
Midoriya hesitates like he always does when someone offers him something to take, double checks with a quick nod that Tenya had really asked that of him and then puts the glasses on. He blinks and lets out a huff.
“Uh... what’s wrong with your eyesight?”
Tenya squints at Midoriyas blurred form, trying to sharpen his features.
“Could you close your right eye for me?”, he asks instead of answering the question and Midoriya – used to Tenyas teaching-voice – just huffs again and moves his head as if he was looking around, hopefully doing hat Tenya asked of him.
“Can you see better now?”
“Oh, sure, yeah, I mean still a tiny bit blurry but so much better than on my right- Oh... huh... well, okay.”
Midoriya, sounding a bit confused, abruptly offers Tenya his glasses back. He quickly puts them back on and the sharp visual of Midoriya closing one eye and glaring down the hall meets him. Then he alternates between his eyes, blinking hard and even putting one finger up to blink at, while Tenya studies the scar on Midoriyas face, feeling a bit... unbalanced. Of course, such a large scar, crossing over the eye would affect someone's vision. He fiddles with his glasses.
“I’m not a doctor but I think that you might have some impaired vision in your left eye, Midoriya. I am very nearsighted myself and my glasses are prescribed so of course they wouldn’t suit your needs but that might explain why one side feels blurrier or sharper than the other.”
Midoriya – after just a couple of seconds blinking an alternating between his eyes - shrugs and wanders after the rest of the class.
“Yeah, probably. At least your glasses aren't broken so that’s good. Sorry, I just kinda forgot. ”
“You... forgot?”
Tenya quickly follows his classmate and frowns at his casual tone and easy-going attitude. It could be a put-up front for something more serious, but Midoriya just grins up at him. Before pointing to his scar and poking his eyelid closed so the scar tissue almost looks connected.
“Yeah, I mean, the big-ass scar? I just- I don’t know, I forgot that it messed up more than just my face, I guess. Don’t really notice the difference anymore, you know?”
Tenya doesn’t know. Every picture of him under six years old looked like he was angry at the world until his mother had taken him to the doctor. Then he remembers that Midoriyas family-situation is much more complicated than his own. And that Midoriya tended to ignore his own health because it seemed ‘not important’ or would ‘heal in a minute anyway’.
“Have you told Aizawa Sensei?”
“Why? It’s not like he can change anything about it.”
He most certainly could. But before Tenya can tell him that, Midoriya skips ahead and peers into Kirishimas room, where they can hear his classmates chattering excitedly. Then  Midoriyas big eyes grow even bigger and Tenya feels his Midoriya-Instinct kick in. Just a second too late as the green-haired menace dashes into the room and Kirishima shouts in surprise. Then a heavy thud and laughter.
Tenya just sighs and fiddles with his glasses. Maybe this isn’t a big problem. But a problem nonetheless. He can already feel Aizawa-Senseis tired sigh rolling down his back and despite his reputation as the stickler for rules, he is also quite tired of only having bad news for his teacher. So he lets out a tired sigh and decides to put his new discovery of Midoriya Related Incidents on his long list. Just as Mina staggers out of Kirishimas room, carrying Hagakure on her back.
“To the next one!”
“Guys, my room is really not-”, Shoji starts but then Midoriya pops up under his left arm, staring up at him with the biggest eyes full of a mixture of mirth and glee. And their giant classmates protest deflates like a soufflé. Tenya follows the cheering and watches as they stumble into the next room.
Midoriya had lived with his eyes like this for years, what was one more evening in the grand sheme of things. Aizawa Senseis sigh can wait one more night for the news.

I Have Elected to Ignore Midnight's Death
Polarmare's First Day
It was the first year Kenta would be teaching at U.A. A longtime friend of hers requested to take up the open teaching position, and who was Polarmare going to deny a change of scenery?
Besides, her sister lived in Japan and was elated to know that the Fuyuhito sisters were getting back together so that was the housing situation solved in under five minutes.
U.A. paid good as well which was good for a single mother like Kenta. She adored Seko with all her heart from the first time they met in Japan two years ago when she saved him from prison. Sure the paperwork was a bitch, but Seko loved the opportunity to meet so many different heroes.
So they packed their bags, and headed off to Japan where she was reunited with her sister.
The day after they arrived she made sure her paperwork was sorted by the Hero Safety Commission, then made sure to pick up Seko for her tour at UA.
There she met Nezu, who seemed just as crazy has he had been over the phone and her fellow coworkers.
She took an instant liking to Powerloader and Snipe as they bonded over creating weapons. Vlad King and Ectoplasm seemed chill too, and it was nice to see other dedicated teachers.
Midnight was cheering about another woman on the staff, though seemed to deflate when Kenta snipped her sexual flirting at the bud.
Present Mic was loud, but reminded Kenta of a friend in America so the familiarity was nice.
It was interesting meeting All Might after seeing his last stand on the news, but Kenta hoped they would be able to get along even if he seemed like a bumbling mess half of the time.
Recovery Girl was alright, a bit jaded but it was hard to find a hero so old who wasn't.
Aizawa seemed like someone she needed to keep her eye on, his knee jerk reaction upon learning she was an international hero was hostility while he worked under the impression she was a spotlight hero.
With a swing of her axe, and a clarification of the fact she was a Neighborhood Hero who worked mostly under Rescue and Underground terms, he simmered down real quick.
The General Ed teachers seemed chill, and Kenta hoped she would be able to grab some drinks with them after a long day of work.
Seko loved every one of the them, and was excited by the prospect of their quirks though Kenta made sure to cover his eyes and ears whenever Midnight was in the room.
After final arrangements with Nezu, she was given the dates of the entrance exams. The Fuyuhito family left in good spirits.
The day of the Management Entrance Exam came around, and Kenta came in her formal hero uniform. She took a seat beside Snipe and Powerloader, and was introduced as Polarmare.
Polarmare watched as potential students came in to present one by one, and she made notes. At the end of the day after helping the potential support students present Polarmare was happy with her picks.
It wasn't over though as she spent a while in her new office she looked at each students history, made a few calls, and at the end picked out a good sixty for the first years.
Sixty may seem extreme, but there were many parts of management and business so they wouldn't all be in one class.
She went home to tend to her son, and went to see the sights with her family.
The day of the hero entrance exams arrived, and Polarmare took a seat in the viewing room. She studied the motions of the potential students, their interactions, and was pleasantly surprised to see Nezu took her suggestion of making Rescue Points public and hiding a new type of points known as Cooperation Points.
The big scale robot had been toned down a bit, and at the end Polarmare had a few qualms but didn't have any outward complaints.
Eventually, the first day of the school year came around and Polarmare did her introductory presentation. She explained each branch of management and business, the schedules, and sent them on a tour with Snipe of the business building.
While that occured, she had a meeting with the votes on representatives and outlined what she expected of each of them. She was pleasantly surprised to find them ready to meet the challenge, and was off once again.
She let the students spend the first week exploring the changes she made, and getting used the renovated building. She didn't see the need to challenge them too much considering they were in a new environment.
At the end of the day, Polarmare made her way to the Conference Room and took her place. The first thing she noticed was a lack of Gen Ed teachers present, which concerned her.
Snipe and Powerloader seemed surprised to see her there, and it was Snipe who leaned over.
"The Management teacher usually doesn't come to these meetings as they center primarily around the hero course."
Polarmare took in the words before responding, "Business and Management is a huge part of heroics so I believe I should be present for any meetings regarding the Hero Course."
Snipe nodded, and straightened back up.
Tumblr media
After a couple more looks, the rest of the teachers settled down to prepare the meeting.
Nezu got up on his little podium, and smiled. "Welcome to the first hero course meeting of the year. Since we have a new teacher with us this year, I would love to hear her thoughts on how she plans on interacting with the hero course."
"First, may I record the meeting?" Polarmare asked. "I work better if I have audio to listen to afterwards."
A few of the teachers gave each other looks, but Nezu nodded.
Polarmare tapped her recorder before she stood up. "I plan on calling the second year students to the business building to discuss their media presence. With permission from you and their gaurdians, I want to make sure they have profiles set up on Hero Watch. It would be good for them to interact with other heroes, and it will open internship and work study opportunities for them."
Nezu hummed, "Permission granted, you may start as soon as you can."
"Once I get their gaurdains approval," Polarmare resaid with a firm stare. "I shall send out the email tonight, and set up conferences if needed."
Polarmare noticed some of the teachers looking at her in confusion, but she made her notes.
The rest of the teachers went around, and Polarmare made her notes. Admittedly more on their body language then what they have to say.
The last person to talk was Aizawa. He stood up and gathered a couple of papers.
"All of the expulsion forms have been filled out." Aizawa passed them around towards Nezu.
Polarmare slammed down her hand before they could be passed the final length. She turned them over to look through them.
"Polarmare, may I ask what you are doing?" Aizawa asked through gritted teeth.
"You know Eraserhead, this seems quite light for expulsion papers. I see a distinct lack of reference to any evidence or record of you meeting with the student to discuss the expulsion."
"What are you talking about?" Aizawa asked.
"According to the Student Rights, the student should be made aware of their expulsion with any evidence before they are expelled." Polarmare looked over to Aizawa, "I assume this is the first time Nezu has seen these, so I also assume he has been expelling students based on your word without a meeting or evidence."
Aizawa stared Polarmare down, "U.A. does not work on the regular rules schools are legally allowed to abide by."
Polarmare shifted the papers in her hand, "Actually, Student Rights apply to all schools. If this is the case, and you have been expelling like this, it is a miracle you haven't been sued."
"Nezu handles the lawsuits," Snipe said.
"Ah, that explains that. Let me clarify, it is a miracle that someone who outranks you hasn't caught on and sued you." Polarmare adjusted her posture, "Now what is your reasoning?"
"The students show a lack of potential," Aizawa stated matter of factly.
Polarmare raised an eyebrow, and waved her hand. "And?"
"What more is there to say?"
Polarmare sighed deeply. "Tell me Eraserhead, how do you measure a concept as abstract as 'Potential'."
"A series of trials," Aizawa stated.
"Yeah, I saw those trials being performed. I noticed that they are all physical. Are you saying you are measuring potential on how physically experienced your students are?"
Midnight giggled.
Polarmare shot a glare before turning back to Aizawa, "I am going to look through these students and read out loud their quirks."
"This is uneccesary-"
"Marinette, this quirk allows the user to control those with human intelligence or faux human intelligence like robots as though they are simply puppets. Hmm, I don't see how this could apply to something like a grip test or ball throw. Though this could be a way to give heroes confidence or maybe even to control villains. This student sounds like a great Underground or Neighborhood Hero if they so desired.
"That is only-"
"Oh! Gnaw. This one is interesting. This quirk gives the user sharp appendages as long as they are made out of keratin on some level. Can't think of how this would help a sit-up, but imagine there was a super strong net that could be useful. This student sounds like an amazing Rescue Hero if they so desired."
"Two-"
"Slowdown, a quirk that allows the user to slow down anything that is moving. That is amazing on its own, and if they know how to dismantle robots in the time allowed they have to be some sort of mechanical genius! They could go down any hero path they wanted and he so successful. A shame I can't think of how this would help on any trials unless they were sabotaging others. Were they sabotaging others?"
"No," Aizawa said.
"This is a bad trend Eraserhead," Polarmare warned. "Of course if you insist on wanting to expell them, then why don't you allow me work out some private study transfers. I know what, like five? Ten? Twenty? Probably like something hundred pros who are on the waiting list that would love to work with some of these quirks."
Aizawa glared at her.
"Then again why is there such a focus on their quirks? Oh! I know, it is because you don't care how they act if Mineta and Bakugou is anything to go by." Polarmare said. "Don't think I've noticed the large amount of tapes and complaints filled out regarding them."
Polarmare looked up at Aizawa, "I'm just saying there is some good evidence here to create a good quirk discrimination and abuse of power case. Unfortunately for you, I happen to be friends with a lot of lawyers and reporters who don't exactly love UA and would love to get their hands on this information."
"Nezu!" Aizawa shouted.
Nezu who was blankly smiling throughout the whole exchange looked at Aizawa. "What? She has a point, and we can not take another hit like this to our reputation. Polarmare you have permission to disband the expulsions."
"Thank you."
"Oh shit," Present Mic muttered but it was audible due to the complete silence of the room."
"With that, I believe this meeting shall be adjourned. I employ you all to spend some times to reevaluate your students."
Tumblr media
Polarmare collected her notes, and looked over the expulsion sheets. She wasn't lying before, she was sure she could find some good mentors for these students depending on what they want to do. She'll have to add those meetings to her calendar. Maybe Seko had some ideas, and her sister would probably snatch up one of th-
Something ling and grey wrapped around her mid section, and she didn't have to turn around to know who it was.
"Eraserhead, what do I owe the pleasure?" She turned her head to see his eyes aflame with red.
"I have been managing my class like this for years, and I do not appreciate you coming in here and dictating what I can and can not do."
"I do not dictate it, the law does." Polarmare sighed as she looked at his eyes. "Cancelling my quirk is useless considering it isn't and offensive quirk," She pointed out.
Aizawa let his capture scarf wrap back around his neck as he blinked. He stared at her with narrowed eyes.
"Bakugou is a perfectly fine student, and I do not see why you brought him up-"
"The boy has a record of telling people to die, I don't care if it is his thing it fucks with your head. Not to mention the physical assault and berating he does, because unlike you I read the complaints."
"The complaints are useless, I judge my students without any prior knowledge."
Polarmare raised an eyebrow, "Does that include background checks because I thought UA prided themselves on those."
Aizawa gritted his teeth.
"If that is all, I need to get home to my family."

How about parental soulbond powerloader to a Broccoli child. No one in the family is tall.
Izuku learned who his parental soulmate was very fast. As soon as he started researching heroes. After all, when your soulmate’s Quirk name ends up on you, you know.
Iron Claws is written in fancy gold lettering. A parental soulmate bond.
Power Loader has Iron Claws as his Quirk.
His mommy has the same Quirk written on her in silver. Fire breath is a faded dull grey on her collar bone. When Izuku told his mommy, she worried.
She knew that Izuku’s parental soulmate was one of her romantics. Hisashi when he was alive had been thrilled.
Yet she never thought it was a hero.
Nervous, Inko reached out to the network, showing her and Izuku’s marks. And giving her Quirk name.
When Power Loader himself showed up, she was shocked. But they soon fell into a pattern.
Power Loader was the first person ever to encourage Izuku and the little boy soaked it up.
“Man, of course he can be a hero.” Power Loader laughed. “So many rely on Quirks, relying on support gear is fine!”
Izuku was happy, eager to learn more and work hard. His parents there every step of the way.

Long Night in the Valley chapter 12
The scene shifted the moment Tempest woke up. They were outside, on a street in the middle of the city.  Storm clouds circled overhead.
Tempest stood in front of them, hands in her pockets, a bland expression on her face.
“So,” she drawled.  “You’re Nine’s friends.”
“Uh,” said Ochako, taken aback.  Right after Four had said she wouldn’t talk to them, this was disconcerting.   “Yes?”
“I’m his teacher,” said Aizawa, stepping forward.
“Yeah?  You think you’re doing a good job raising up little child soldiers?”
“Excuse me?” said Aizawa.
“You heard me.”  She shifted her gaze to Ochako, then to Todoroki and Iida.  “I bet Souma told you I wouldn’t be talking to you.”
“He did say something along those lines, yes,” said Iida, even as Ochako worked very hard to elbow him.
“I can follow why he’d think that,” Tempest said. “I spent most of my life fighting against the government.  Lord knows I wouldn’t have approved of him choosing a ‘pro hero’ to follow after him.”  She took her hands out of her pockets to make air quotes.  She was wearing brass knuckles.  “Whatever a pro hero is supposed to be.  Government lackeys.  Cops and war criminals with a different name.  I’m shocked he pulled a halfway decent person from the muck.”
“We’re not war criminals!” protested Iida.
“Oh, yeah?  I forgot, the Geneva convention was nixed, wasn’t it?  They had this big meeting and decided none of it applied to metahumans, and then, bam!  Everyone’s a metahuman, so it doesn’t apply at all, huh?  Neat, right?”
“What we’re doing now might not be what you’re used to,” said Ochako, “but it’s the way society works, now.”
“And we’re not killing people, like you did,” said Iida.  Ochako winced at his combative addition.
“I did what I had to, to get people out of the torture camps,” said Tempest.  “People like my little sister.  You know what they did to her?  They thought her power was just controlled by her voice.  So, they cut out her vocal cords.”
“They don’t do that anymore,” said Todoroki.
“You think a government like that is just going to stop doing things?  Without people making them?  Without being forced?”  Tempest laughed and looked up at the swirling sky.  “Maybe you do.  You’re just kids, after all.  But tell me this, do you think they didn’t know exactly what was happening to your family, Todoroki Shouto?”
Aizawa cleared his throat.  “What’s your point, here?” he asked.  “What do you want from us?”
Tempest looked back at Aizawa.  The coldness in her brown eyes made Ochako shiver.  “We could have kept you out,” she said. “That Suzuki idiot, too.  Do you know why we didn’t?”
“Enlighten us,” said Aizawa.
“Because the way we do it would cause irreparable brain damage.  We know, because we’ve done it before.  I thought it was worth it, but the others didn’t want to hurt ‘Nine’s friends.’”
“Are you implying that we aren’t Midoriya’s friends?” asked Todoroki, frowning.
Tempest huffed and wind whipped down the road, making Ochako cover her face.
“No.  To be honest, I’m not completely sold on Nine, either.  He wanted to part of the system so bad, and that’s not to mention—” she huffed again.  “At least he knows what it’s like to be on the other side of the equation.  You four, though… I’m stuck with Nine.  I don’t owe you anything and you’re causing all these problems.  What I want from you—”
Behind her, lightning snapped down from the sky.
“—is to prove to me you’re worth it.”
.
“Vlad, the police were able to find your car,” said Powerloader, holding his hand over the receiver of the staff room telephone.
“Oh, thank goodness,” said Vlad.  “I hate taking public transportation.”  He paused.  “I mean, uh, did they find Yagi?  Is he alright?”
“No, they didn’t find Yagi.”
“Great,” said Vlad.  “So, ask them when I can pick it up.  Why are you making that face?  Did Yagi total it?  I bet he did.  ‘Symbol of Peace,’ my—”
“No,” interrupted Powerloader.  “Yagi didn’t total it.  Or crash it.  It was parked in an alley near the Musutafu entertainment district.”
“Where Midoriya had that fight with Hawks,” said Vlad, putting his head in his hands.  “It got wrecked by one of them, didn’t it?”
“No,” said Powerloader.  “It was parked in an alley.  They found it on a security camera.  It isn’t there anymore.”
“They took it again?”
“The League of Villains took it.”
“You’re joking.”
“I wish I was.”
.
The bus felt empty with half the class missing. The remaining 1-A students (plus Shinso) were all huddled together at the front, mooching off of the teachers mobile hotspots.
“Did my email go through yet, kero?” asked Tsuyu, leaning over her seat to look at Denki’s computer.
“Not yet,” said Denki.  “I’ve got all the pictures you guys sent arranged, but I wish we had more video material.  Ashido was the one with the most…”  He sighed. “Ashido, gossip queen, when you wake up I will apologize for all my comments about your hobbies.”
“I have some videos of Midoriya.”
“Trust us, Mineta, no one want your videos,” said Yaoyorozu.
“Huh?  Why not?”
“Tell us this.  How many of your videos are actually of Midoriya and don’t just have him incidentally in the background while you try to film girls.”
“None of them,” said Mineta, obviously not seeing why this was wrong.  “Why would I film Midoriya?”
“Mic,” said Midnight, “please remind me to sign up the walking lawsuit for some sensitivity classes.  How did Eraser miss this?”
“Unfortunately, Shouta is about as sexual as the average rock, so…”
“Remind me to sign him up for some training, too, then.”
“Will do.”
“Walking lawsuit?” asked Mineta.
Everyone else sighed.  Then Denki’s laptop pinged.
“Huh.  I just got an email from Principal Nezu.”
The adults, including Green Light, the bus driver, blanched.  Adults were bothered by the weirdest things.  In the end, Nezu was just a guy with a quirk, right?  A hero, even!  Principal Nezu, the Education Hero!
Okay, he’d scared Denki (Mr. Terrible Grades) a lot in elementary and middle school, but really.
(Okay, the crane thing at the Final Exam had been high-key terrifying, but he was trying to get past that.)
“Huh,” repeated Denki, having read the email. “That’s interesting.”
“What is it, my electric friend?” asked Aoyama, drapping himself sideways across his seat.
“Aoyama-san,” said Midnight, “don’t put your feet on the windows.”
“Principal Nezu sent me a link to an ‘All Might adopt a kid’ fanfiction, and it’s by—”
“Midoriya writes fanfiction?” asked Shouji, evidently surprised into using his real mouth to speak.
“That’s cute, kero,” said Tsuyu.  “It must have been before he met the real All Might, though.”
“No,” said Denki, “it was last updated just a couple of weeks ago, and, well… Midoriya didn’t write it.”
“So, who did?” asked Yaoyorozu.
“Not Nezu, right?” asked Jiro, winding her earphone jack around her finger.
“There’s no way, right, Kaminari-san?” asked Present Mic, nervously.
“Uh, no, no, it’s, uh, it’s All Might. According to Nezu.”
A beat of silence.
“What?”
Denki inserted his pinky into his right ear, trying to clear it.  Man, if the Bakusquad had been here rather than the quiet half of the class…
“Yeah, it says here that this serves All Might right for working on this during school hours?”
More silence.
“Green Light, the road!”
“Oops, sorry!”
“Hey, guys, are we sure that All Might didn’t, you know, kidnap Midoriya rather than the other way around?  Guys?”
.
Gran Torino, also known as Torino Sorahiko, was an active hero.  That meant late nights and late mornings.  He was also an old man.  A very old man.  Late mornings often turned into noons and afternoons.
Sometimes, during those noons and afternoons, he liked to ignore technology and the outside world for a good long while.  Maybe read the paper a little bit.  Or one of those terrible romance novels Nana had left him in her will.
Still, he was a hero, one wrapped up in something best described as a two-hundred-year-long shadow war, so eventually he did turn on the news.
Only to see Toshinori’s boy fighting Hawks on live television.
Not to mention Toshinori hanging out in the background with a shaved head.
And the ticker said UA student Midoriya Izuku kidnaps Symbol of Peace.
(Which was the dumbest thing he had ever heard, and under other circumstances, he would have been rolling on the floor laughing.)
Gran Torino was an old man, but, luckily, he only felt like he was simultaneously having a heart attack and a stroke.  His body was more than functional enough to place a not-at-all panicked phone call to one Tsukauchi Naomasa.
.
Tsukauchi Naomasa was incredibly busy.  That busy-ness was divided mostly evenly between desperately trying to find his best friend (who had evidently decided to make a hopefully brief foray into kidnapping teenagers) and trying to figure out what the commission was taking, because it had to be illegal.  Oh, and putting together a complaint that the commission was infringing on police prerogatives.
Honestly, he wasn’t sure how much traction that last would get, since pro heroes had been steadily gaining more and more responsibilities even as the police were losing both them and the power that came with them.  Not to mention Midoriya’s stunt with Hawks… Which… Naomasa just wanted to know why?  What had the point of that been?  On either side?
(Sometimes he wished he were friends with normal people.  Like… he didn’t know… an accountant, maybe?)
(Not that he would give Toshinori up for the world. Just, some normalcy would be nice, too.)
He took a deep breath, remembered what he always told Toshinori about stress, and took a mouthful of room-temperature coffee.
In that thirty-second period, two more problems presented themselves to him.
One, his cell phone began to ring, displaying the contact information for Gran Torino.
Two, his email softly pinged, and a message from Principal Nezu asking for any images or videos Toshinori might have sent him slid into his inbox.
Briefly, Naomasa considered ignoring both of them, but that wasn’t a realistic option and was irresponsible besides.  Contrary to his character.
He picked the lesser of two evils and answered Gran Torino’s call.
.
Garaki was going to have a mental breakdown.  This was fitting because his car had broken down.  Midoriya Inko was asking him if he thought that his ‘friend’ might come pick them up, if it was safe.  If his ‘friend’ had a car.
This last had almost sent him into hysterics. Gigantomachia in a car oh-ho!
Except it wasn’t funny at all, as this was almost certainly going to result in his death at the hands of All for One.  No matter that he considered the man his very dearest of friends, he was under no illusions about what All for One would do to him over this inexcusable error.
Perhaps he should just cut his losses and get one of the remote-activated noumu to come for them.
Then, inexorably and inevitably, things managed to get even worse.
.
“Stop the car!” shouted Tomura.
“But you said not to—”
“I know what I said!  Stop the car!”
Tomura twisted to see out the rear passenger window. Everyone else turned to follow his gaze, effectively blocking his view.
“Get out of my way!” demanded Tomura.
There was some awkward, half-hearted shuffling.
“Does that look like anyone to you?” Tomura hissed.
“Yeah!  Like the doctor!” said Toga.
“I’ve never seen him standing up, though,” said Spinner, dubiously.  “It seems out of character.”
“I didn’t know he owned a car,” mused Compress, rubbing the bottom edge of his mask.
“Not him!” snapped Tomura.  “The woman!”  He pointed angrily at the rapidly approaching woman with green hair, narrowly avoiding dusting Mr. Compress’s top hat.
“Eh?  What about her?” asked Spinner.
“Doesn’t she look familiar to you?”
“To be honest, everyone without mutation quirks looks kind of the same to me.”
“Someone without face blindness.”
“Oh!  She looks like Izu-kun!  Do you think that’s his mom?”
The woman knocked on the window of the car.  Twice, unhelpfully rolled it down.
“Thank you so much for stopping, we—Oh!”  She took a step back.
She apparently recognized them.  Joy.  He was going to unpack his feelings about this woman later.
“Hey, doc,” rasped Tomura, annoyed.  “What the hell have you been doing?”
“Ahem,” said Garaki, finally stepping out from behind the car.  “I didn’t expect to see you here, Shigaraki Tomura.”
“Because you blew us off and stranded us in the middle of Musutafu?”
“No,” said Garaki, in a way that absolutely meant ‘yes.’  “I knew you were resourceful enough to safely make it out of the city.”
“Oh, yeah?  Really?  You—”
Compress chose that moment to slam his face into the back of Tomura’s head.  Tomura steadied himself automatically on one of the car’s uprights, which cracked dangerously under his hand.  He pulled back as if burned.
When he looked up, the gremlin’s mother was halfway to the tree line with – What was that in her hand?
He looked back over his shoulder.
That was Twice’s goddamn mask.
Compress, for some reason, was also missing his stupid mask (and covering his face like the dramatic weirdo he was), and Toga basically had hearts in her eyes.  Spinner was being Spinner, and therefore ninety percent useless.  He was lucky he was fun to play games with.
How to make her stop?
“Hey!” he shouted.  “We have your son!”
This was a lie, as far as he knew (unless Dabi had snatched him on his way back; it wasn’t impossible), but, he was a villain.
The green-haired woman stopped and turned back, allowing Tomura a full view of her expression.
He decided that he regretted everything.
.
“Okay,” said Izuku, multitasking by letting Two pick the lock on the League’s safe, “considering Gigantomachia’s ability to track by smell and the questionable running water, we can’t just sneak out.  He’ll find us.  So… I think our best play is getting him to attack Shigaraki, and then when they’re both distracted, we run for it.”
Toshinori nodded and sighed.  “If only we had a giant jug of perfume.  We could throw it at his face and disrupt his ability to smell us.”
“I mean, I found a whole bunch of garbage a way back.  That isn’t perfume, but it does stink.”
“No, no, your plan is superior.  We’d draw too much suspicion if we attacked him like that. Perfume could be written off.”
“Yeah, I can see that.  Because perfume is a ‘nice’ thing.”
“Indeed.”
“It isn’t actually very nice to have it all over you, though,” said Izuku.
“No,” agreed Toshinori.  “It isn’t.”
The safe popped open.
“I won’t ask if you don’t.”
“Deal.”
“But, anyway, assuming we do get away, what then? Where do we go?  And—Wow.  The League of Villains is broke.  I almost feel bad.”
“I was going to say Deika, but that’s too far, now, and we don’t know if Gigantomachia will come after us,” said Toshinori.  “Drawing him to a place full of civilians would be irresponsible.”
“Yeah,” said Izuku.  He frowned, pulling his head from the safe, and glanced out the window. “What about the Wild Wild Pussycats?”
“What about them?” asked Toshinori.
“They’re near here, aren’t they?  And they’ve got that whole complex, so, I mean…  I don’t know how they feel about us right now, but it wouldn’t be a terrible place to hide.  Would it?”
“I’d hate to bring all of this down on them as well,” said Toshinori.  “But… That being said, I don’t believe they’re actually there.  They were taking some time off because of what happened to Ragdoll.”
“That makes sense,” said Izuku.  “Should we take the risk?”
“I’m unsure if we have a choice, my boy.  We could try roughing it, but that puts us in a very vulnerable position.”
“And we can’t stay here, with the League.”
“No, we can’t.”
“Okay.”  Izuku sighed and started to thumb through the League’s collection of fake IDs, looking for something he could use.  “Wild Wild Pussycats it is.  We’ve got to convince Machia to attack Shigaraki, and… then we sneak out the back while they’re fighting.”  He shook his head.  “It sounds really unheroic when I put it that way.”
“Under these circumstances, I think heroic is the set of actions where no one dies.”
His mentor was right.  Izuku still felt weird about this, though.  (The pettiness was completely different.)
Not to mention…
He put the last of the fake IDs away and massaged his temples.  “They’re doing something weird in there,” he said.  “I’m going to check on them.  I might be out of it.”
“Don’t worry,” said Toshinori, patting Izuku on the shoulder.  “I’ll keep an eye on things out here.”
(Perhaps all of this could have gone unsaid, what with their connection, but saying things out loud made them easier to organize.)
.
“Hey!” shouted Izuku over the roaring wind. “Stop that!”
“Are you going to fight me, Nine?  All by yourself?”
“No,” said Izuku, somehow contriving to look down his nose at her despite the height difference and the fact that Tempest was floating several meters in the air.  “I won’t have to.  Because I have a secret weapon.”
Ochako could almost see Tempest roll her eyes.
“And,” shouted Izuku, “do you seriously think I just wanted to be part of the system?  Are you serious?  I wanted to help people.  People the system failed.  It isn’t like they’re responsible for the system either!”  He waved his hand to indicate Ochako, Iida, Todoroki, and Aizawa.
“I’d argue about your hobo teacher.  Is this your secret weapon?”
“No, this is, Great-Aunt Miranda.”
Tempest opened her mouth, then closed it again. The wind began to die down.  “I’m – I don’t know what the point of that was—"
“Neither do I!  What’s the point of this?”
“The point is determining whether or not you have people you can rely on, or a bunch of backstabbers who’ll hand you over to a government lab as soon as it’s convenient!”  She stabbed a finger at Ochako.  “She’s just in ‘heroics’ for the money!”  She pointed at Iida.  “He’s only here because it’s traditional for his family.”   She gestured at Todoroki with her other hand.  “He’s doing it mostly out of spite.  And who knows what your hobo teacher is doing this for!”
“There’s nothing wrong with any of that!” protested Ochako.  “You must have your own motivations, too!”
“She does!” shouted Izuku.  “Considering what they are, you have no room to be criticizing Iida!  Besides, you don’t even like me!”
“This isn’t about liking you or disliking!  You’re the—” Tempest visibly cut herself off, then took a deep breath.  She set herself down on the street.  “Knowing what we do now about certain things, a fourteen-year-old would not have been my first choice.”
“Excuse me!  We’re all sixteen!” said Iida.
“You’re sixteen now, it’s – The fact of the matter is that you’re children.  Naïve children.”
“Oh my gosh, you were younger than I was when you—”
“I was kidnapped and tortured—”
“I know, but why are you taking it out on—”
“By the government that you are trying to lick the boot of—”
“Did you see what they did to Suzuki?”
Ochako felt like she was spectating a very passionate tennis match.
“If it means anything,” said Aizawa, dragging himself out of the pile of rubble he’d been thrown into by the wind, “I’m just trying to keep my kids alive as long as possible.”
“Then expel them!  Stop them from becoming literal child soldiers!”
“I do,” said Aizawa.
“He does,” confirmed Ochako, who was well acquainted with Aizawa’s reputation.
“He really does,” seconded Todoroki.
“I used to see Tensei’s group chat, and every time he expelled someone…”  Iida shivered.
“Huh,” said Todoroki.  “Is that why you’re so… insistent about rules?”
“Of course not!  Rules are important regardless of why so many students were expelled during the first month of school!”
“So, why didn’t you expel these ones?”
“If you honestly believe the problem child wouldn’t have flung himself at the first villain he saw after that and dove straight into vigilantism, you don’t know him very well.”  He sighed, standing, and brushed dust and pebbles out of his tracksuit. “That goes for these three as well. They’re insane and it’s not my fault.”
“Isn’t saving others what heroes do?” asked Izuku, walking closer to Tempest.  Ochako wanted to run out and grab him, but this whole ordeal had just shown how useless that would be.  “No matter what?”
“Not no matter what.  This is why I…”  She shook her head, sighing.  “Not no matter what.”  She leaned forward, her hands on her hips.  “Don’t die. You do realize what will happen if you die, right?  I don’t have to spell it out for you?”
“N-no,” said Izuku.
“Besides which, I’m not a hero.”
“You saved people,” protested Izuku.
“And, as your friends pointed out, I’ve killed, too.”
“I know,” said Izuku.  “But you aren’t a bad person.”
“Lots of people kill during wars,” said Ochako, going to stand by Izuku, “and that’s what you were fighting in, wasn’t it?  I mean, I don’t know a lot about that time, but…”
“You wouldn’t.  It’s been over a hundred years.”
Izuku nodded.  “This fight isn’t doing anything, though.  None of us want them here if the vault opens.”
“The what?” asked Iida.  “The vault.”
“Hopefully,” said Izuku, “you won’t have to worry about it.”
“The fight did do something, though,” said Tempest.
“What?” asked Izuku.
“For one,” said Tempest, “it made you think. For the other…”  Her eyes flicked over Ochako and the others.  “Everyone you fight will have their own reasons. Remember that.”
.
As they walked down the street, storms still brewing overhead, Ochako kept catching glimpses of children in the alleyways and cross streets.
“Who are they?” she asked, unable to help herself.
“My sister and I,” answered Tempest, brusquely. Ochako, watching the back of the woman’s head, saw her twitch slightly towards one of the alleys.  “About the time we were taken.”
“Taken by who?” asked Todoroki.
Tempest laughed.  The sound was entirely humorless.  “That government you’re so eager to serve.  You’ve noticed, I hope, that my sister and I aren’t completely Japanese?”
“Yes?” said Todoroki.  “I’m not blind, after all.”
“Todoroki,” said Aizawa in a warning tone.
“Good for you.  Our mother was Japanese.  Dad was American.  We went back and forth to see the family.  Problem was, everyone on Mom’s side quirks.  We didn’t even realize it.  The government tracked the weather disturbances to our movements and raided our family reunion.  Never saw my parents again.  Never saw anyone, for that matter, except my sister and my aunt – Dad’s side – who tried to smuggle us out and got shot for it.  We spent four years in that hell before Ryuji rescued us.”
“You’re more open about this than I would have expected,” said Aizawa.
Tempest sneered.  “Why wouldn’t I be?  I’m a terrorist, and people only become terrorists if they want to make a statement. Which I did.  Trust me when I say this, Nine, if the hero commission took you into ‘custody,’” she spat the word like it was dirty, “you’d be in the same boat. What do you children think they do to all those high-profile criminals in Tartarus?  The ones that are held indefinitely in a private prison without even a show trial?”
“I know, Three,” said Izuku, far more calmly that Ochako would have been able to.  “That’s one of the reasons I wanted to be a hero.  It’s easier to change systems from the inside.”
“Not this system.”
“No,” said Izuku, “but then I had no idea this part of the system even existed.  They do a lot to hide it, after all.”
“Hm,” grunted Tempest, skeptically.
The buildings began to thin out, interspersed with wilderness.  The road rapidly graded narrowed into a one-lane road, then gravel.
“Is this normal?” asked Ochako.
“We have more control over our environments than the other ones.  You’ve noticed that only Eight and Nine had multiple versions of themselves running around and being confusing.”
“I didn’t do that on purpose,” said Izuku.
“Exactly.  Any of us could send an army of ourselves against you.  Only those two don’t have a choice about it.  Amateurs.”
“Shouldn’t they have had the same amount of time as—” started Ochako.  She broke off as a series of concrete walls topped with barbed wire rose up in front of them, scraping at the surrounding trees, shedding clumps of dirt.
The trees fell away, leaving a clear, baren space between the walls and the trees.  Slightly beyond the structure moonlight glinted off the surface of a lake.
“Well.  Welcome to Jinoshi Lake Camp, kids.”  Tempest turned, putting her hands on her hips.  “This is where I met Ryuji.  And…” She glanced up at the walls.  “This is as far as I go.”
“You aren’t going to show us where to find this ‘Ryuji?’” asked Aizawa.
“I promised myself I’d never go back there.” She jerked her head over her shoulder. “I’m not revisiting it for you.” She started walking away.  “Have fun.”
