What is your favourite Doctor Who story?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ROUND 3 MASTERPOST
synopses and propaganda under the cut
The Daemons
Synopsis
The Master, posing as a rural vicar, summons a cloven-hoofed demon-like creature named Azal in a church crypt. Seeking to gain the ancient titan's demonic power, he gathers a cult and then corrupts or controls the residents of Devil's End to bow to his will. Dark elemental forces begin to disturb the village on the eve of May Day: unexplained murders, a stone gargoyle come to life, and a nigh-impenetrable infernal energy dome. With the Master fully prepared to destroy the Earth, the Doctor and UNIT — aided by a benevolent practitioner of witchcraft — battle the wicked rites of a secret science wielded by an alien from another world.
Propaganda
what is the most important quality of a good doctor who story, to have a strong plot, something to say, something new to try. all of these are positives, yes, but sometimes the best doctor who stories are just fun. sometimes they feature the master pretending to be the leader of a satanic cult pretending to be an anglican priest, remote control bessie, an alien who's basically the devil, a living gargoyle, a witch, and the doctor escaping being tied to a maypole by pretending to be a wizard. truly, this is the heights of doctor who, it is beyond fun to watch, i love it so much. If that’s not enough, then surely the fact that this has THE ‘the brigs an alcoholic and mike yates is gay’ moment (anonymous)
An Unearthly Child
Synopsis
Barbara Wright and Ian Chesterton, two humble teachers during 1963, are surprised by a bright student named Susan Foreman. Confused by the contradictions in Susan's knowledge, Barbara had decided to visit her home, only to learn that the address on record is a junkyard. She and Ian decide to wait at the location until Susan or her grandfather show up. There, they discover a junkyard inhabited by her grandfather, simply known as "the Doctor", and he doesn't want them lurking about.
When the teachers refuse to leave, they discover that an ordinary police box is actually bigger on the inside. The Doctor decides they know too much about his and Susan's otherworldly origins and takes them on a journey across space and time in his TARDIS, the place he and Susan now call home.

i have a fanfic/universe rewrite in my head of a transformers series and if I ever hunker down and work on it these two will be irrevocably linked together in my head for it
#like my idea of him being a near incomparably unnaturally powerful person who swears complete loyalty to megatron to control and aim him#it just fits perfectly with the song#like my idea is that he was a gladiator slave of the quintessons early on in the cybertron civil war before the Optimus Prime is the leader#of the main political faction of the planet and megatrons war is true and just who is freed by megatron from enslavement and experimentatio#of the quintessons leading to him having the ability to functionally produce infinite energon which can be transferred to his hands for his#P.O.K.E. for potentially unlimited destructive force#after being freed swearing unerring loyalty to Megatron who he views like a god who he believes can truly control the weapon hes been made#he is fully loyal to megatron (not the decepticons) until he dies and becomes galvatron#after some time he fully realizes this isnt his god and upon realizing the control of Unicron is apart of a major assault against the plane#single-handedly destroying thousands of terrorcons and melting miles of the surface just trying to dig his way to unicrons spark to kill it#transformers#transformers animated#tfa#transformers lugnut#lugnut#robot#music#kyle stibbs#the opposite of icarus#character songs#i might also think about making lug trans or genderfluid or something to include Clobber from cyberverse#god i need to work on this#how else am i supposed to get strangers to potentially obsess about this horrible series i hate and want to completely rewrite because i ha#it so much#like i made a basic theology to make unicron and primus ironic foils for each other thats not even remotely important to the plot or world#only kinda to explain why these dead transformers are coming back to life and why the zombies exist#Youtube

hm. hey wait. if the narrative of undertale was disproving/Proving floweys notion of its kill or be killed (pacifist disproving it while genocide. well. gestures. basically leaving it up to the player to ultimately decide on the better call), do you think its going to be the same for deltarune. (susies your choices dont matter reflecting that, and you either get to play the game “normally” or do the snowgrave route. the thing here being interpreting the ‘your choices dont matter’ thing as less of something for the player but for the characters in it. stripping noelle and ralsei a bit of their control in snowgrave, and also the possibility of susie projecting when she first says the line. also being a better outlook for kris with the whole soul situation; hhhhhopefully giving them the perspective that their choices do matter? though. its. a bit oxymoronic when we. are controlling them.)

What sort of runs have you done in the past?
I feel like Papyrus' (and Flowey's) RESETs can't really be categorized into "runs" like a player's playthroughs can. While their world might feel like a game to them (particularly Flowey), it still isn't one. There isn't a set "beginning" or "end" to a "run" for them like there is for us (...though I suppose a comparable beginning could be the first moment they woke up after being revived, but I don't think either of them would necessarily start from that point all the time. Papyrus especially would want to start at least a little bit after that point). They just RESET the timeline whenever they get bored/can't get anything useful out of the current one and want to try something new.
As a result, their "runs" are a lot more fragmented than what we as players would consider to be a run.
That said, Papyrus does typically lean more on the Neutral/Pacifist side of things. He's not opposed to murder, though---he can just undo it later, after all, so it's not like it really matters. If a situation "required" it, in his eyes, then yeah, he'll kill someone. But it's not his default course of action (though it wasn't Flowey's either, aside from Frisk anyway). While he hasn't done a "murder everyone" run himself, he's not bothered by it if Trace/the player attempts one and will help you/them out with it. It's something new, and hey, maybe this is actually what he needs to do in order to get the answers he seeks.
Which, actually, is another key difference between Scraps and Flowey! Flowey's actions are fueled by boredom, curiosity, and a desperate desire to fill that void in his SOUL somehow. Everything he does is for his own entertainment, just to see what happens when he does this or that. Papyrus, meanwhile, is on a specific mission, and his actions and RESETs are driven by his attempts to reach that goal.

Kink Rating: remote toys! Bluetooth vibes, apps, all that jazz. The Internet of Things You Put Up In You (IOTYPUIY)
No | rather not | I dunno | I guess | Sure | Yes | FUCK yes | Oh god you dont even know
“Yes”
The ability to assert control without even touching or saying a word? So hot.
I’ve enjoyed a couple different kinds of these. Some devices are better than others, but when they work, they’re very fun. I feel like I do need to know the person quite well to enjoy playing with these types of toys.
They ARE pretty loud, ranging from a strange buzz to an earthquake… so the jury is still kinda out on public play. It depends on how loud the environment is, and how well the receiver can stay composed. I would never engage in play that could involve non-consenting individuals.
But, in the dungeon? I do say, I could go for more of that! Thanks for reminding me!
KINK RATING TIME: Send me a Kink and I’ll Rate it!

Affordable High-Speed Fun: Best Budget Electric RC Cars
Introduction to Fast Electric Remote Control Cars
When choosing the ideal RC car for your needs, there are various key factors to take into account. These include the power source, size, construction quality, and brand reliability. Additionally, keep in mind that the intended use of the car - whether for on-road or off-road racing - greatly affects its overall speed and maneuverability.
Here are a few other aspects to keep in mind.
Although the excitement of racing RC cars at high speeds is unquestionable, prioritising safety should always be a priority.
It is important to carefully select designated areas for operating these cars, keeping them away from crowded places to avoid potential accidents.
Additionally, ensuring that your RC car receives regular maintenance and inspections is crucial in guaranteeing safe and enjoyable use. By routinely cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting your car, you can prolong its lifespan and improve its performance.
Upgrading key components such as the motor, battery, and tires can also enhance its speed and overall functionality, maximizing the value of your investment.
Consider installing a more powerful motor, adjusting the gearing ratio, and opting for high-capacity batteries. Additionally, upgrading the tires and suspension can enhance the car’s grip and stability, leading to improved speed and performance.
It’s essential to note that while modifications can enhance performance, they may also increase wear and tear on the vehicle. Therefore, regular maintenance and careful tuning are crucial to ensure both speed and longevity.
Top Brands and Models in the Fast Electric RC Car Market
The ARRMA Infraction 6S BLX Brushless 1/7 RTR Electric 4WD Street Bash Truck is capable of a top speed of 80+ mph.
The LOST RC Car has a top speed of 52 kph or 32.3 mph.
The Redcat Racing Lightning EPX Drift Car can reach speeds around 10-15 mph.
The Arrma Infraction 1/7 scale can reach speeds up to 130 kph or 80.7 mph.
The Traxxas Bandit VXL can reach top speeds of 70+ mph.
The Team Associated RC10 B74 can reach top speeds of around 40+ mph.
The Losi DBXL-E 2.0 can reach top speeds of up to 50+ mph.
The Traxxas X-Maxx Monster Truck can hit top speeds of up to 45+ mph.
The Kyosho Inferno GT2 can hit top speeds of up to 50+ mph.
The Maisto Rock Crawler can reach top speeds around 10-15 mph.
The ARRMA SENTON 4X4 3S BLX Brushless 1/10 RTR Short Course Truck has a top speed of 50+ mph.
The WLtoys 14401 RC car can reach speeds up to 60 kph or 37.2 mph.
The Redcat Volcano EPX can reach top speeds of 20+ mph.
Maintenance and Care for High-Speed RC Vehicles
Regular maintenance and servicing are essential for maintaining optimal performance of any RC car.
Despite their sturdy design, proper upkeep is necessary for these cars. This includes basic tasks such as cleaning, checking screws and bearings, greasing them, and replacing worn out parts.
After driving, it is crucial to clean the car thoroughly. For dusty conditions, compressed air or a soft brush and damp cloth can be used. Extra care should be taken when cleaning around the bearings to prevent faster wear and tear caused by dirt and dust.
Please note: Do not clean the car with running water. Once finished, be sure to inspect all components for any looseness, particularly the screws on the servo arm, steering linkage, lower shock absorbers, suspension arms, and upper links.
These screws are subject to movement while driving and may become loose. Gently tighten them using the appropriate tool - over-tightening can cause damage to the threads.
After inspecting the bearings, it is important to also check their condition. Pay attention to any excess play in the wheel bearings, as this can cause the tires to wobble.
If you notice an increase in play after driving, it may be a sign of wear and tear on the bearings. This can lead to decreased spinning of the wheels and put strain on the motor.
To prolong the life of your bearings, make sure to regularly clean and lubricate them, especially after wet driving conditions. A few drops of oil is all that is needed for proper greasing. Keep in mind that outer bearings tend to wear out quickly and should be replaced promptly when necessary.
Additionally, you can test the drive train bearings by gently wiggling the outdrive and observing any play between them. Rolling the chassis on a desk should also be smooth and quiet without any resistance or noise.
Superficial cleaning and inspection are enough with the electric components. It’s good to check that the speed controller’s fan works and can spin freely. Also check that all the components are not coming loose. Check that all the wires are undamaged and that they’re not getting in the way of the drivetrain.

I'm going to add another cheap, non-smart option to this: The Clapper still exists.
It has some tradeoffs compared to these remote control options. The range for a clapper is probably shorter, and there can be noise interference if you're watching TV or playing music loudly. But there's no remote to keep track of or batteries to replace, and you can even set up "Automatic" activations.
I've got multiple Clappers set up throughout my apartment and have used them for going on five years now.
Cheap, easy, and with no connections to the outside world.
youtube
Accessibility tip:
If you want to automate your home a bit, but you don't want any "smart" tech, you can just buy remote controlled power sockets instead
Tumblr media
They are a lot cheaper and easier to set up and use than some home automation smart tech nonsense
They don't need an app (but some models come with optional apps and there are apps that are compatible with most of these)
Many of them use the 433mhz frequency to communicate, which makes most models compatible with each other, even if they are from different manufacturers
The tech has been around for a long time and will be around for a long time to come
You don't have to put any fucking corporate listening devices like an amazon echo in your home
Models for outdoors exist as well

Battery-Powered Mowers
Battery-powered remote control lawn mowers have gained popularity due to their environmental benefits and operational efficiency. Unlike gas-powered mowers, battery-operated models produce zero emissions, making them an eco-friendly choice for lawn care. The advanced battery technology used in these mowers allows for longer runtimes and faster charging times, enabling users to complete their mowing tasks more quickly. Additionally, battery-powered mowers tend to be quieter than their gas counterparts, reducing noise pollution in residential areas. The convenience of not needing to refuel with gasoline simplifies the mowing process, making it more accessible for homeowners. As awareness of environmental issues grows, battery-powered mowers represent a responsible choice for maintaining green spaces.
