there's a CHILD in my shrine?? WTF!!
by corduroyserpent (@crimsonrainseekingflower)
G, 2k, Hualian & Wei Wuxian
Summary: Hua Cheng: AITA for stealing an orphan off the streets and showering him with love and affection? Correct answers only. Kay's comments: Despite the funny title and summary, the fic itself doesn't belong to the "crack treated seriously" genre and is indeed serious and fluffy. Little A-Ying steals some good at one of Hua Cheng's temples and when he finds out, he decides that he can't leave the child there and brings him home instead. I love me some good Hualian adopt Wei Wuxian stories, so this one is really a treat. Really loved how Hua Cheng teased A-Ying in this story too and Hualian are cute together as well. Excerpt: "That doesn't belong to you,” Hua Cheng said casually as he stepped out into the light, the chains on his black boots jingled crisply as he moved. The owner of the hand flinched. It was attached to a child, malnourished and unbathed. He held the piece of dried fruit he’d swiped to his chest with an iron grip and quickly hunched his shoulders to try and make himself appear smaller. A reflex, an instinct clearly born from past experience. Hua Cheng was intimately familiar with the strategy. He leaned down to get a good look at the kid. Unbound hair covered big intelligent eyes. He was probably adorable underneath all of the muck that came from living on the streets. Hua Cheng assumed if the boy had a good home, he wouldn’t be starving enough to steal old fruit. “Well?” Hua Cheng prompted. “What are you waiting for?” The child tilted his head and gave Hua Cheng a strangely genuine smile. Like it was all he could think to do. It contrasted with the scared glint in his eyes and the white-knuckled clench of his hand. The boy carefully unfurled his fist to offer the fruit to Hua Cheng, putting on a good act of hiding how much he desperately didn’t want to let it go. “Here,” the child’s voice was hoarse when he finally responded. “Sorry.”
pov hua cheng, canon divergence, tian guan ci fu fusion, hua cheng/xie lian, crossover, wei wuxian isn't adopted by the jiangs, fluff, hurt/comfort, angst with a happy ending, homelessness, food insecurity, orphan wei wuxian, hua cheng, xie lian, tgcf, hua cheng & xie lian adopt wei wuxian

The way thousand statues cave scene gets such vastly different reactions and gets interpreted from every different vievpoint is kind of fascinating. My friend told me it was funny af and i've seen people say it was really creepy (iykyk that's why i'm writing this post now) but for me it was just really, really, really damn sad?? Maybe I relate to HC way too much but just imagine two people who you mutually hate and who also have biased opinions towards you and the person you love the most finding your deepest darkest secret you lowkey are ashamed of yourself. The two bitches you despise do everything they can to alienate and turn your crush against you and there's nothing in your power you can do not to make the situation worse than it already is. THAT's fucking horror not a guy having a weird but harmless hobby which he engages in mind you to cope with trauma and eternity of loneliness. And you really thought he's the bad guy bc he was "acting weird" huh

Ko-Fi donation ficlet #11:
CW: gore
Xingxing throws her elbows into the crowd’s legs and races into the food stall. A crowd means Hua Chengzhu and Xie-daozhang are out on the town, and sure enough, when she emerges from the sea of ghosts, she finds them. Hua Chengzhu rests his cheek in a palm and watches granduncle eat a barbecue skewer.
“Daozhang-gege!” Xingxing cries, and Xie-daozhang drops his skewer, turning in his seat. At the sight of her, he beams.
“Xingxing.”
“I found something neat!” she says.
“No one gives a shit!” a crane spirit yells.
“That’s not true,” Xie-daozhang disagrees politely.
“Did you hear that?!” a disembodied head heckles. “Granduncle cares!”
“Stop calling him granduncle!”
“He is our granduncle!”
“You dumbass—”
Xie-daozhang cringes and smiles as the ghosts bicker. He asks Xingxing under the boisterous noise, “What is it? What did you find?”
“Look!” Xingxing says, and digs through her robes until she finds the palm-sized glowing rock she stole off Yu-er for being a jerk. As soon as her bare skin makes contact with it, Xie-daozhang’s eyes widen, the same way hers did when Yu-er held up the rock and part of his head caved in.
“What is that?” Xie-daozhang asks, his mouth pulled into an uneasy smile.
“Isn’t it neat? It shows a ghost’s death wounds!” she says, and turns her face back and forth to show off the mess of claw marks she can’t feel but knows are there now, from being mauled to death by a tiger.
“Don’t worry, gege,” Hua Chengzhu says. His eye zeroes in on Xingxing and frosts over, but his tone stays sweet, the way it always does with granduncle: “It’s just a gag curse that brats use to scare each other. An illusion.”
“Oh. Okay.”
“Yeah. See?” Xingxing pats her cheeks, and her hands come away blood-free. “You can have this rock. I can find another one,” Xingxing says. She happily pushes the rock into granduncle’s palm regardless of his protests—
and stumbles back.
The crowd goes silent.
“What?” Xie-daozhang asks innocently.
No one speaks. Everyone stares.
“Gege,” Hua Chengzhu breathes. He’s frozen.
“What? What is it?” Xie-daozhang asks, like he isn’t covered with more blood than Xingxing has ever seen in her entire life. There isn’t a patch of him that isn’t coated in gore. His robes are so drenched they’re nearly black. He doesn’t look human. His skull is smashed in. His throat is torn open. There are stab wounds everywhere on his clothes.
“But…” Xingxing says dumbly.
“Oh,” Xie-daozhang says, and sets the stone on the table. The blood vanishes, and absent it, he smiles, kind but awkward. “I’m, um… I’m full. San Lang?”
Paralysis broken, Hua Chengzhu flies into movement. He crushes the rock on the table to dust with one hand, and with the other, he tosses a set of dice. In a flurry of butterflies, he and granduncle disappear.
Abandoned, Xingxing hovers in the food stall with the other ghosts. Their silence is only broken by someone asking, “How many fucking times has that guy died? Holy shit!”
“Granduncle is alive, you fucker,” someone corrects.
“Alive or dead—who fucking cares! Xie-daozhang is stronger than all of us!”
“No wonder Chengzhu built a whole temple to that guy,” a hanged ghost says.
“I heard Heaven tried to elect granduncle their new emperor and he turned it down,” another voice pipes up.
“Granduncle is the best!”
A dozen more cries follow along the same variation.
“What do you think happened to him?”
“Mind your own fucking business!”
“Yeah! Mind your own fucking business! Come on! Let’s go to the temple! Let’s leave offerings for granduncle!”
“I’m leaving one of my legs!”
“Then I’m leaving my head!”
“What the fuck is your head worth? Ain’t nothing in it!”
Xingxing stares at the spot Xie-daozhang vanished. How does anyone so gentle carry a past like that, she wonders. How can someone be so kind to the world after being mutilated by it? She swallows, unease in her belly, and runs off in the direction of the temple.
She’s going to send up a hundred prayers. A thousand. A million.
I hope you’re okay, daozhang-gege.
Please be okay, daozhang-gege.
But mostly: I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m really sorry.

Okay but my heart and soul for tgcf from mnq's pov. You're wondering with your sad dead puppet friends, you're playing cards, you're teaching people here and there and then you get hired to teach a young prince. And ....he's amazing. And he has no idea what's out in the real world. But he's so talent and so good and you truly believe he could do anything. And you know you're projecting but he reminds you so much of another prince who could have done anything. But the other prince is the vilest creature you've ever met. He's the most powerful man in the universe and you know he made his own choices but it's your fault. /it's your fault/ and this young prince you're teaching. He's so so good. And this monster you've created he starts showing interest in the prince. And you know what he's like and he's/six years old/ and you pray every single day. Pleading and telling him it's different this child is his own person. Stay out of it please please just leave the boy alone but.....you know what he's like. So you train him the best you can, you make sure he will never be monstrous, and then you run as fast and as far as you can. And even though the guilt is drowning you, you tell him you warned the prince as best as you could. And as you run you know it'll never be enough but you tried. You did.
And then you find your student again after 800 years. You get captured by jun wu and he finishes torturing you just in time for you to find out your beloved student is fucking a different ghost king and honestly you're ready to be tossed into the volcano. You're not saying the tipping point was fucking the ghost king but ....you are choosing to stay in the volcano with the monster so

Devil Flute Upon Graves, Wei Ying
by cloudyrobinwrites (jwyoomi) (@chirpycloudyrobin)
M, WIP, Series, 47k, Wangxian & Hualian
Summary: Wei Wuxian received the news of his first death a little bit too late. Kay's comments: I think this series was a Follower Rec during the last WIP Rec Week and I picked it up there, because it sounded absolutely delightful and it sure didn't disappoint! Here, Wei Wuxian died earlier, but he didn't notice! He only noticed when he was staying in the Burial Mounds with the Wens and that changed a lot. For one, he's a ghost, so when he "dies" again, he actually goes full TGCF and even meets Hua Cheng and Xie Lian. Really interesting world-building. The current and ongoing part of the series is a canon retelling of how Wei Wuxian being a death changed his resurrection. Also! Xuanli as Gods! And Jin Ling growing up under their proctection! So much good stuff. Excerpt: “I would know if you’re dead, Wei Wuxian,” Wen Qing tells him. “I’m your doctor.” Wei Wuxian sputters, “W- Well, look again!” He shoves his wrists at Wen Qing, his face just a tad bit hysterical. Okay, maybe he’s not taking this ‘I’ve actually been dead the entire time’ debacle as well as he thought. Wen Qing gives him a look that is half-exasperated and half-concerned and checks his pulse anyways. Maybe she’s thinking that all that demonic cultivation is chipping away at what remains of his sanity. Maybe she’s right. A few moments pass. Wen Qing slowly lets go of Wei Wuxian’s wrists and looks him dead in the eyes. “Wei Wuxian,” Wen Qing says, slowly and deliberately. “What did you do?”
pov alternating, canon divergence, tian guan ci fu fusion, hua cheng/xie lian, ghost wei wuxian, hurt/comfort, burial mounds settlement dwys, post-first siege on the burial mounds, mo xuanyu lives, immortal jiang yanli, immortal jin zixuan, fix-it of sorts, somebody lives/not everybody dies

TGCF in Hua Cheng's POV?!
More likely than you think. Part 1, Book 1
---------------- “Crimson Rain,” Hua Cheng hears in his spiritual communication array. He’s been so bored lately. The only semi-interesting thing that had happened was him pummeling Qi Rong to the ground in his own city, so he’s excited to hear something.“I have good news for you,” he says. He more excited than usual. “So good that you have to contact me this way?” Hua Cheng says with a smirk. “To the point of having to use that stupid password, yes,” He Xuan probably rolls his eyes. “But I’ll get straight to the point. His Highness, the Crown Prince of Xianle, has ascended to Heaven once again.” Hua Cheng’s eyes go wide hearing that. His Royal Highness… Part of him wishes he found him earlier. The rest of him, however, is quietly celebrating. He brings his hand down from when it was resting on his temple and closes it into a fist. His head hangs down a little bit and he closes his eyes. He smiles- a true, genuine smile. It may be ugly, with too sharp teeth and crooked, but it’s genuine. It took so long… “Hua Cheng, what are you doing?” He Xuan’s annoying monotone voice breaks his euphoric stupor. Fuck He Xuan. “You don’t even know where he currently is.” “... Aren’t you going to tell me?” “Yes,” He Xuan says. How Hua Cheng can hear the joy in He Xuan’s voice. It’s uncharacteristic, but he doesn’t really care at the moment. “But not for free. He has caused quite the property damage from his ascension alone. Sent a clock flying towards General Xuan Zhen, destroyed General Nan Yang’s palace… He’s in a lot of debt. Now he’s doing a mission in the mortal realm to pay it off.” Hua Cheng thinks that this is very convenient. His good luck was actually worth something! “Hua Cheng, don’t you want to know where he-” “Free food, five months. I’ll feed your bonefish for two months. Anything else for them, one. Nothing to your debt.” “Ehem, pardon?” “You heard me. Do we have a deal, He Xuan?” “DEAL. He should be near the mountain of Yu Jun, at a tea shop… Small Shop of Chance Encounters. Fitting name, isn’t it? Anyway, he’s going to solving that Ghost Groom case some people were praying about. Maybe he’ll even ride in the bridal sedan…” “6 months of free food.” Hua Cheng can hear how much smile is in He Xuan’s voice. It’s disgusting, honestly, and he honestly pities him. That does not matter right now, however. What does matter is His Highness. He will not throw away this chance no matter how much it costs him. Just to see him once is all he asks for.

My (probably only huhuhu) contribution for Yin Yu Appreciation Week 2024!
Day 1 Prompt: Work - Vacation
And because my brain is my brain I ended up adding a bit of character analysis and such. Hope you all enjoy this and send love to our bestest boi!
FIC SUMMARY:
“You should take a break.” Hua Cheng told Yin Yu one day.
The thing is…
Yin Yu didn’t think he was serious.
And when he found out Hua Cheng was serious, he realized he didn’t know how.

Fic concept:
Hua Cheng learning about the concept of ghost ashes, physically digging up his hong er body ALONE from a mass grave in the old xianle battlefield, burning the remains, and forging that into the necklace (possibly in the fires of mt. tonglu) that he promises himself to give to Xie Lian when he finds him...
Can you imagine what that does to a man ghost emotionally?!
