have i asked for stan and kyle's favorite books/movies yet? i assume ur stan can read unlike mine smh
Lmfaooooo what a slay ask as ALWAYS from the wife!!! OJV Stan can, in fact, read, he just gets distracted (adhd boy across the ncu/ojv board!)
I got sooooo many ideas for this one YOUR HONOR THEY ARE MASSIVE DORKS!!!
They like a lotttt of the same stuff, Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, oh my god they are HUGE Bill and Ted fans they’re definitely being “excellent to each other” if ya know what I mean ;) another favorite is Percy Jackson and Stan 100% cried during that part in MOA (same) Kyle made the rest of the M5 listen to the audiobooks and Cartman has definitely read every depraved fanfiction ashdhdksl. Stan and Kyle are SUCH fantasy nerds especially Stan out here learning tolkien elvish to rizz the sbf up smh
Style went FERAL over The Last of Us show they loved the games so much and oh my goodness they… may or may not have had a Voltron phase (it was Cartman’s fault) BRUH!!!!! Ok these two LOVE Kevin Smith’s filmography!!!! Kyle’s favorite is Tusk and Stan’s is Clerks 3 he SOBBED HIS EYEBALLS OUT!!!
Kyle’s definitely also into documentaries, particularly historical ones, where Stan kind of spaces out unless it’s animal planet (king shit) also DUDE How To Train Your Dragon is a fave. Kyle LOVES Dead Poets Society.
So Kyle definitely is a little more inclined to reading, though they’re both a sucker for a story, but he’s the one who actually sat down and read GOT, actually enjoyed the assigned reading in high school, like this man was out here enjoying the HELL out of A Separate Peace, Lord of the Flies, Of Mice and Men, and HOLY SHIT he ADORES Ray Bradbury. OrangeJuiceVerse Kyle is such an idealistic guy, he fucks that magical realism UP!!! Def likes poetry, Kipling is a FAVE!!! Also down to read think pieces, absolutely loves when something gets him thinking about human nature. Shakespeare too! His favorite is A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Stan’s favorite is Titus Andronicus.
Stan Marsh, our resident hopeless romantic, ADORES MUSICALS! He has made everyone in the Star Seven watch every single Team Starkid Show (his favorite is probably Twisted) (Kenny likes Starship because he loves him some puppets) (kys fave is The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals bc the title made him laugh) Stan, Cartman, and Marj are THE trio to go see musicals it’s so fun! And Stan’s favorite broadway musical was in fact The Lightning Thief. He’s a big enjoyer of The Music Man too. And LITTLESHOP!!! Oh dude he watched the helll out of Austin & Ally lmfao
I’ve mentioned before Stan watching alllll the sappy ass Dog Movies when he’s depressed, holed up in the Sadsack Hoodie with Old Yeller, 8 Below, Homeward Bound, Where the Red Fern Grows, Far From Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog (that one’s a fave bc happy ending and the kid in it looks like him) and that poor guys just making himself more upset :(
Oh Kyle is SO into The Hunger Games he read the books and analyzed the SHIT out of them!!!
Oh! Stan loves Supernatural lmao and he and Tweek binge watched it while Stan was out of work w the broken ribs and Tweek was detoxing (Operation Beat Tweek’s Withdrawals/Stan’s Boredom as referenced in chap 6 of BBFA2) Stan also made Tweek watch Poultrygeist (Tweek hated it) (I also hated Poultrygeist like my husband is friends with Lloyd Kaufman and I’ll watch that weird old man’s work but all of it grosses me out lmao)
Thank you for the ask Melda Tâe (my beloved queen) I LOVE BEING ANNOYING!!!

I want to make sure I understand the current policy going forward with future Un-cards. It seems that if a card doesn't have any issues working within the official rules of the game then it will be a traditional black bordered card rather than an Acorn card (but still could be included in an Unset). For example, if Paper Tiger or Poultrygeist were created today, they would NOT be Acorn/Silver bordered. Is that correct? If so, I am a big fan of that policy.
That is the policy.

Note on cards with the same name but different abilities:
These cards from Unstable (Knight of the Kitchen Sink, Very Cryptic Command, Sly Spy, Garbage Elemental, Ineffable Blessing, Everythingamajig) have six different versions with the same name, which is not a black border thing. I’ve placed in the list each version independently; technically though, using two different cards with the same name falls under un-tensity level 4. Gameplay-wise having the same name is not really much of a problem, but it was still worth pointing out.

Oh my god... Marnasa you have caused me to bring up memories I wish had stayed forgotten 😂
6. A film you wish you hadn’t watched?
Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead
The film centers around the takeover of a New Jersey fried chicken fast food restaurant by possessed zombie chickens after it is built on top of a sacred Native American burial ground.
It gave me brain rot. I can’t believe I remembered enough details for google to find the name of this movie ahjskajsjkslwjdjs

But Does It Taste Like Chicken: Cockpit Point & The Tale of Virginia’s Poultrygeist
Virginia’s tourism motto “Virginia is for lovers” can easily be expanded to encompass history, and as you drive through our state, you may idly wonder what happened at certain places. For example, why is there a Cockpit Point?
According to Prince William County Park & Recreation (encompassing Historic Preservation), Cockpit Point Civil War Park contains the only remaining Potomac River battery and from October 1861 to March 1862, the Confederate earthworks, four massive batteries and connecting trenches helped the soldiers succeed in diverting almost all shipping destined for Washington, D.C. Prince William County Historian Rob Orrison wrote a brilliant blog about the actual battle and continuing preservation efforts and you can find it here via the Emerging Civil War blog and/or watch a virtual tour here.
Tumblr media
(Library of Congress: Fry, Joshua, Approximately, Peter Jefferson, and Thomas Jefferys. A map of the most inhabited part of Virginia containing the whole province of Maryland with part of Pensilvania, New Jersey and North Carolina, 1755, link in citations)
Although the HDVI archives thoroughly acknowledge the importance of this strategic site, they also contain an interesting paper regarding the lore of Cockpit Point pre-Civil War. Joshua Fry and Peter Jefferson identified “Cock Pitt Pt” above the Town of Dumfries in their 1755 Map “A map of the most inhabited part of Virginia containing the whole province of Maryland with part of Pensilvania, New Jersey and North Carolina.” According to J.P. Haynes, who presented a speech to HDVI on 05/05/1977 titled “Saga of Cockfighting at Cockpit Point”, people located an iron ring measuring about 12 feet in diameter with an iron 12-inch flange in 1914 giving more credence to the cockfighting lore. According to Mr. Haynes, Irish immigrant Gerr Shaw (aka Cockspur Shaw, Cockpit Shaw) infamously renowned throughout the Tidewater, held mighty and very popular cockfights at his riverside farms. Besides for his inability to refrain from illegally holding matches, he christened one of his most aggressive animals “Thunderbolt”, eventually earning the title Thunderbolt – Champ of the Patowmack”. Haynes stated, “Such became the reputation of the Champ that, when there was a thunderstorm with overmuch thunder, folks would proclaim, ‘The Champ’s on the loose again.’”
Cockfighting in Virginia was a popular form of entertainment. Ebenezer Hazard, the person who insulted Dumfries in his travel journey (related blog post here), recorded the practice in 1777 writing, “Horse-racing & Cock-fighting seem to be the principal Objects of Attention between Williamsburgh & Smithfield at present.” He later noted that Virginians were “…much addicted to Gaming, drinking, swearing, horse-racing, Cock-fighting, & most Kinds of Dissipation.” Cockfighting was popular pre-Civil War, especially towards the end of the 18th century as Mr. Hazard observed. Men bred their gamecocks to be aggressive and even strapped weapons onto the roosters, such as finely honed spurs. People used matches to conduct social and political business as well commonly meeting with friends and neighbors. Shaw purportedly penned “scrappy natured roosters” together and he placed any resultant chicks in special brooders until they showed aggressive behaviors – they then received additional observation. Thus “Thunderbolt” was born.
Tumblr media
(Prince William County Park & Recreation, Historic Preservation: Cockpit Point Civil War Park)
Officials condemned the fights and tried to prohibit and eliminate them, especially after the Revolutionary War when it was viewed as a crude connection to British practices and customs. Eventually, American society condemned the fights more widely as inhumane and the ASPCA along with other groups actively work to stop this illegal practice – spectating an event is illegal in 43 states and the District of Columbia.
Mr. Haynes concluded with the following, “It has been told, even today, if one should be strolling on the River shore on a moonless Sunday night in Spring, the ghost of Gerr Shaw may be seen at the site of the old cockpit, looking for Thunderbolt, his infamous Champ of the Patomack.”
Note: Mr. Haynes wrote both “Patowmack” and “Patomack” in his original 1977 speech. Archaeologists dated a Patawomeck settlement on the Potomac Creek to around 1300. Although English encroachment in Virginia started in the early 1600s, the English actively began patenting Patawomeck land in the 1650s. Due to various factors, including disease and dispersal, the English continued and eventually declared war on the tribe. The tribe received formal recognition from the state of Virginia in 2010 after a two-year battle to assert their identity, following decades of discrimination.

Holiday Horror Cinema
This week's feature presentations at Holiday Horror Cinema:
Poultrygeist 2: The Turkeying
