tbh ive been meaning to do this on my main blog bc I take these wayyy too seriously lol but ANYWAY heres my top 10 faves (in no particular order) that I can think of (tbh theres prob more i forgot about, or i wanted to keep only 1 per fandom... except tgcf)

1. Feng Xin (tgcf)

do i even need to explain this one? loyal to a fault, just a cute lil puppy, one hell of a sculpted archers back, and he's head over heels in love with Xie Lian (but tbh same) i have a lot of thoughts about him on a daily basis on this blog (and also theres the #fx backstory au tag)

2. Noé Archiviste (the Case Study of Vanitas)

the absolute bestest boy of EVER... with a LOAD of unprocessed trauma (yknow the typical stuff like seeing your childhood bff get decapitated in front of you) and a lot more to come once we find out how he kills his boyfriend best friend, Vanitas...

3. Sejanus Plinth (The Hunger Games: tbosas)

hated reading as a child... HATED it... picked up the og trilogy when i was 12 and i was a goner. The funny thing is i still hated reading for YEARS up until i picked up the prequel novel then in 2020, and now ive read all of tgcf, 2ha, and more fanfic than i could ever imagine... all because this stupid boy (i love him) chose to trust the WORST person as his friend, rip sejanus my baby

the chocolate-addicted blonde boi that was my first anime crush... by proxy I must also add Mail "Matt" Jeevas because they are a package deal

these two are also the reason i started writing fanfic so they will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart

6. Xue Meng - (2ha)

aside from being the character that unlocked my unhealthy obsession with :) Main Character Death :) at the ripe ol' age of 8 YEARS (although Will Turner from POTC also helped on that front... Orlando Bloom my beloved) River's story was a stroke of absolute GENIUS from start to finish and i simply love how Alex Kingston played her...

9. Satoru Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen)

look... theres *gojo girlies* uwu and then theres GOJO GIRLIES... i couldn't give 2 shits about how he's fan-serviced (tho im not complaining) but have you SEEN the amount of grief pumped into that man? he could explode in a fit of fucking insanity at literally any moment and take the whole goddamn world down with him bc what happened with suguru WASNT FAIR to him and satoru has more than enough power to go apeshit... but he DOESN'T... even after losing so many of his co-sorcerers... he still puts on a brave face to the end in order to protect the childhood of his students even tho his own youth was stolen from him during hidden inventory...

SEE? The DOOMED ones!

10. Levi Ackerman (Attack on Titan)

i read the manga during my last year of uni and when i tell you i SOBBED at the end... yes ofc for obvious reasons, but mostly bc my little Levi loses EVERYTHING. He is the SOLE survivor of the veteran scouts. He's missing multiple fingers, an eye, and the ability to walk. He was the strongest (yowaimo) but wasn't even granted the mercy to die at the end of his narrative! Broke my fucking heart.

Happy birthday Kelsey and congrats on the milestone!

I believe the first work of yours I read was Magic Like This when it was published last year, and I absolutely adore it. James is so soft and sweet and I love how you wrote Lily embracing her growing feelings for him.

Then, a few months later, I rediscovered you with A Thrill Divine, Down My Spine (so incredibly fun 🤌) and was pleased to be reminded of Magic Like This (because I'm notoriously bad at keeping track of first I love). And then I went down the rabbit hole of all your other fantastic works and here we are. I am a huge fan. 😁

I love restless waves rise and fall. It might be one of my all-time favorite Jily AUs out there. The backstories and universe you've created have been so fun to explore, and the micros you occasionally write bring me so much joy.

I especially love how you wove thematic imagery throughout. A scene that comes to mind in particular is when James and Lily finally talk at the end of chapter 5 about their feelings...Lily "anchoring herself to her spot," her "bursting through the surface" as she admits her feelings, "a swell of emotions eddying within her." The imagery truly elevates the emotional climax of the story, and you should be proud of what you accomplished.

Now...a couple fan questions if you'd want to share your thoughts on one or both of them.

1. Do you have a way in which you envision James and Lily admitting they are in love with each other? They're clearly very close to that point by the end of the main story.

2. Do you have any insights you'd want to share about what was going through James' mind during my waves meet your shore (forever and evermore) - specifically re: "our ship" and also when Lily confesses what she said to Petunia?

Okay hello first of all you should know I've reread this like updwards of 20 times because oh my god this is so sweet? This makes me so giddy? Truly truly truly makes me warm and fuzzy, thank you SO much for all your lovely words!

Magic Like This was really the first fluff piece I wrote and I did not expect the reception it got, but I'm so glad people enjoyed it! A Thrill Divine was something that took over my mind that I HAD to get out, and is probably up there on the list of my favorite things...it was my first magical AU and just so much fun. I'm glad you enjoyed them both!

Okay okay okay you have to know how NOT chill I am about your words for restless waves rise and fall. Like. That is my baby. My first born child. My first multichap, my first AU, it's SO close to my heart and to know people love the little self-indulgent cross section of HP and pirates (because yes I also used to write POTC fic) just 💕💕💕💕💕 I promise I have SEVERAL more micros planned out because I have so many Thoughts about them all the time.

I had SO MUCH FUN with the thematic imagery in that fic, playing with the water metaphors, etc (which I know I'd done elsewhere, but felt more fitting here), and I'm glad it enhanced the fic for you and didn't feel too on the nose 😅 Now for your questions...

1. Yes. Yes I DO. I've had that scene envisioned since ending restless waves and I've been MEANING TO WRITE IT. It was always my intent to write it but then my waves meet your shore got way out of hand (after the Lily & Euphemia scene, the characters absolutely took control of the narrative) and I've been writing in that timeline knowing how much I need to go back and write the I Love You scene. I don't want to give too much away but I will say there is a phosphorescent bay involved.

2. AHHHH Yes I am HAPPY to talk about this (but will put under a cut for spoilers and also length because I feel like I will be RAMBLING)...

Follower Milestone Celebration

OKAY so "Our Ship". James is so attuned to Lily in this conversation with his parents and the Dursleys. She's not really engaged in the conversation, she's putting on a brave face but he knows her footing is off—here on land and in the presence of her sister. So, this is absolutely James' way of bolstering her both in the conversation and in their presence, as if reminding her "You have something. You are someone. And they can't take that from you." I think he also realizes that there is no way to hide what they do from the Dursleys, so before it's revealed Lily is his First Mate, he positions her more as an equal than anything else.

And then this poor man his brain is SHORT CIRCUITING during that moment when Lily tells him that she told Petunia they were married. He's got the family ring in his pocket, he's got the proposal all planned out for their next stop, he's got her to meet his parents, and she's just jumping ahead. I think it's definitely really heartening for him to hear that she jumped to that (and him) as a way to support herself/protect herself from her sister, but also while they unDOUBTEDLY love each other, maybe there's this one underlying fear that this woman who's been at sea all these years living an untraditional life doesn't want a traditional marriage and maybe a partnership like they have is good enough for her. (And I think this kind of comes up at the end where she points out a lot of priests probably wouldn't marry them. Maybe it's something she's just resigned herself to). BUT the fact that she reaches for marriage with him as a lifeline just makes his heart swell.

And he is so. happy. It's that kind of moment where everything aligns and it's like oh we're on the same page and also just like....their whole life flashes before his eyes in that instant and he just gets consumed by the need to propose NOW. He's the one that pushes on past the "oh yeah we're married, sorry we didn't tell you," and proceeds to tell her exactly the moment he wanted to propose in a code that only the two of them know. He literally can't stand the fact that she doesn't know the depths of his devotion for her in this minute and wants to give her that reassurance and security that everything she said is what he wants. <33333 OH MY GOD I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

AH. okay I'll chill. But thank you SO MUCH for asking about my bbs. <333 You are an absolute GEM.

Film Red was fucking phenomenal omfg

People were screaming in the theater during Those Moments. there was cheering and clapping during the end credits. the energy was glorious I am so so SO happy I got to see it in theaters bc I lost my shit

Gear 5 is every bit as cool as I hoped it would be and it was only on screen for like a minute maximum, people were gasping and shouting 'no fucking way' as soon as we saw Luffy's eyes, it was amazing. He doesn't even do anything really in that form, he was just hovering there, menacingly, but we were all LOSING IT

And my boy Usopp finally got to shine after SO LONG and he played such an important part bro I genuinely almost started crying I am so happy for him he got CoO Haki comparable to Katakuri and waaaaaah- also OH YEAH my favoritest boy Katakuri is in this movie too 😭😭😭 and Law!!! And Bartholomew!! And Fujitora! And tons of fan favorite characters make cameos in the credits as well they just went all out it's amazing

It's 110% fan service and I ate. it. up.

Also, the songs are REALLY good actually, oh my god. The RANGE???? I haven't stopped listening to some of them they're that good

Literally my only complaint was the cgi was awkwardly implemented (not poorly, it just looked a bit out of place with the constant movement vs the anime style of animation where stuff stays still for a bit). Like there's one scene with the five elders and Uta is on TV in the background and they're doing the anime talking thing meanwhile you can see her silhouette on the TV behind them just absolutely busting it down. It was so funny. It looks great though, it's 100% in the style of the anime, it's just the super fluid motion that was throwing me (and my friend) off.

Otherwise this movie went SO hard. I went with a friend who knew nothing about OP and he liked it so much he offered to watch more One Piece with me. Like. Omfg. It's THAT good. The only thing he said he didn't follow was all the attacks against the demon at the end but that's mainly bc he didn't know the power sets all too well. He described it as suddenly going Madoka Magicka on him which... Yeah, fair. Otherwise he liked it a ton and I... Bro that says a lot given an hour before we got to the theater he told me he thought one piece was set on earth during our pirate age so he didn't understand why there was tech stuff. Like. He thought it was like PotC that's how little he knew. And he still adored it (I explained Haki and devil fruit powers and stuff but he thought it was just a very high fantasy version of PotC... Shook him when I told him about Egghead lol)

This movie is SO good dude I can't I want to go see it again Right Hugging Now ahsgdhshhsd I can't wait for it to come out digitally because I am going to watch it at least 3 times in a row it just fucking slaps I highly recommend it even if u read all these spoilers it's just worth experiencing it yourself

because Jack needs that. he needs something to remember Barbossa by, because no matter how you spin it, those two were important to each other.

they’ve known each other for so long. they’ve always been safe in that knowledge that, no matter what, the other is out there. and now Barbossa isn’t.

and Carina has the book; she has it to cling to, and it has so many memories for her. she’s had him tied up in that book, and that isn’t going away.

and Jack has the monkey, because Barbossa loved that monkey. it’s something that isn’t the Pearl, because god, in a way, having the Pearl must hurt so badly. they’ve always fought over the Pearl, has always tricked each other out of having her, and now that’ll never happen again.

and that’s why it’s so important.

Jack needs the monkey. and god, it’s perfect, that even though he hates that damn monkey, he still lets it sit on his shoulder; he accepts it, because it’s Barbossa’s monkey.

because it’s all he has left of Barbossa.

so, it’s great and all that disney decided to finally let will & elizabeth reunite BUT obviously there are things in canon at this point that i take great issue with, so this post was pretty much inevitable.

elizabeth does not stay on that godforsaken island while will is away. the fact that they’ve chosen that narrative, or a narrative at least close to it, irritates me to no end. she’s the bloody pirate king, not some housewife. this literally DEFEATS the purpose of her character and her story arc. the whole idea was freedom from her cage. she thrives as a pirate. why would you take all of that away from her and reduce her to being a woman that had a child and lived romantically alone for twenty years?? 

will turner would never expect elizabeth to wait for him. will turner would never expect elizabeth to wait for him. WILL TURNER WOULD NEVER EXPECT ELIZABETH TO WAIT FOR HIM. he would never want elizabeth to be alone and / or unhappy. regardless of how much he loves her and she loves him, that would be such a selfish expectation to put on her shoulders, especially given that he’s immortal and she isn’t. eventually, he’s going to have to live without her anyways. he would want her to move on and find happiness, even if it would kill him not to be able to be there and provide it for her. and even if elizabeth did move on, she would always return every ten years with henry to meet will and spend the day with him.

the fact of the matter is that elizabeth wouldn’t even be accepted into civilized society again. she was at the head of the pirates’ war against the east india company with a warrant hanging over her head. just because cutler beckett is dead doesn’t mean that all of that would just go away. she would have wanted posters out there for her, same as jack does. 

speaking of jack, elizabeth would literally TALK ABOUT HIM ALL THE TIME. because those adventures, while dangerous and devastating at times, are a HUGE part of her life and her history. they helped to shape her into the woman she is today. what possible reason would she have for not telling henry about all of that? she has no shame in being a pirate, or being involved with pirates. henry would know all about jack, he would know all about barbossa, he would know all about the things that the lot of them accomplished and experienced together. ( and in fact, the line “like the tales of you and captain jack sparrow” actually irks the hell out of me because it more or less erases elizabeth from that narrative as well but wHATEVER )

plus i still firmly believe that both jack and barbossa would keep in contact with elizabeth because despite everything, she and jack are still friends, and barbossa is still a mentor to her, albeit an unofficial one, and you don’t just dROP PEOPLE LIKE THAT, especially knowing what she’s been through and how her story was left like???? c’MON

it bugs me, too, that henry is even slightly involved with the navy, regardless of his reasoning, like how absolutely dangerous. if anyone found out his parentage, he’d be in way more trouble than he ends up being in, my god.

elizabeth remains a pirate, and continues her duties as pirate king. she doesn’t wear dresses. she would be INVOLVED if there was a notorious pirate hunter, dead or alive, who was tormenting pirates all over, and would definitely know if jack was one of the ones threatened by him. the fact that she’s been sidelined makes me SO ANGRY, even more so now, knowing that keira DID come back. she could easily have been included more. in some respects, i’m glad she wasn’t because they’d just ruin her character, but at the same time, HER CHARACTER IS RUINED JUST THE SAME

tl;dr i’m salty and elizabeth swann deserves better.
