dying i tend to think of myself as "cockroach carrying the memories of a dead civilization" but much like juanki i am very susceptible to flattery AND i find the timing of this ask extremely intriguing. ^__^ so for No Particular Reason i hasten to share some thoughts.

—assuming you meant Classic Spain. actually wait based on the mental rundown of present spain that i just did that's clearly a talking point—no alphas in the current lineup. which is obviously why they're not winning (eyeroll). whereas previously if anything they maybe had TOO many alphas around sometimes. sure, there was drama, but they won a bunch of davis cups! (rba could arguably be an alpha but i've immediately taken a shine to this angle so let's say he's not. pedro and pablo are absolutely not, marcel is not, and carlos is OF COURSE the most successful omega on tour post-roger. there are some stans on twitter who desperately want him to not be an omega to prove a point and get deep into web weaves about how he's clearly demonstrating alpha traits you can see it in his eyes but it's an ultra-niche minority of secondary gender essentialists, everyone else takes one look at the kid and is like "...lmao.") 

ok so classic armada thoughts, in decreasing order of normality:

marcel: on the fence between beta and omega. early marcel would have been, like, the ultimate haters' proof point that omegas can't take the pressure. otoh he is also such a good little team player… ok i'm thinking he's a beta and at first everyone's like, are you sure he's not an omega. but once he grows into his confidence he becomes a different kind of proof point, the one about how betas are inherently suited to doubles. (maybe not good for breaking stereotypes but good for his tennis career.) 

marc lopez my beloved: tiny alpha. marches to the beat of his own drum. shows up on his own time. makes his own decisions. lifts feli lopez to a roland garros title and rafa nadal to olympic gold. retires at his peak. tbh you could also make a very solid argument for beta, i'm a little bit on the fence. but i think in the end that accounts for the fractional differences that exist between him and ferru.

tommy robredo: beta by default. just. a nice guy! a solid player! a good doubles partner! people tend to overlook him a lot. and then he comes back from 2 sets down three matches in a row at roland garros, or calls out novak for (allegedly) faking injury, or beats roger federer in straight sets at the us open, and you're like wait. wait. where did that guy come from.

nico almagro: alpha who's not very good at it. WHICH is why he was tapped for davis cup final singles slot over feli lopez in 2012 and he flopped so bad and they lost. (sorry nico. he did flop tho. and then alex lost his job. which, fair enough.) (or, well, alex as dc captain probably wouldn't intentionally be like, hm i think an alpha is inherently a better choice than an omega, buuuuut he's a full tennis generation older, could easily have been subconscious conditioning. or fed pressure. or a mere coincidence that 95% of observers will see through the lens of a/o dynamics and consider sensible decision-making. 🙃)

rafa: ok i threw this out in my very first post and never really dug into it. but although i know omega rafa is a popular take, and i completely understand where it's coming from, i'm an alpha rafa truther. goes for what he wants, does things how he wants, does not care what you think. the entirety of manacor (if not mallorca) is his pack, and the duly elected local government is honestly kind of a little uncomfortable with this. also it makes his crush on carlos moya like. really cute. gangly teen alpha crushing on Big Cool Confident Nice Adult Alpha. then he meets roger and etc. be my mate join my pack. roger & mirka sending their kids to rafa nadal academy is going to be like THE ultimate affirmation hahaha.

fernando verdasco: alpha who thinks he's Hot Shit. he really thinks he and rafa are on the same level and they're scuffling over the same territory (davis cup team leader, spain #1 singles man). uh they are not. i never got around to making a felifer post so some background here is that for 2-3 years he was undisputedly spain's #2 singles man and i'm pretty sure he didn't think of himself as #2, if you know what i mean.* just had to delete two paragraphs about tennis because it's not relevant plus maybe someday i will make the post but suffice it to say that he did have a sharp peak around 2008-2010 and the verdasco aura was so pervasive that until i went to doublecheck my stats just now i was convinced he beat rafa in their 2009 ao sf. (he did not. but it did go to 5 sets over 5 hours.) however it turned out the peak was brief lmao. he and rafa clashed not only about tennis—fer was the one who got pretty outspoken after dc 09 about the rest of the team not getting enough credit—but also, well, ahaha. word on the street—and i do mean on the street, this was pretty well-known tennis insider gossip but not more than gossip—was that he and rafa were both into ana ivanovic. she went for fer and he and rafa were on noticeably bad terms all year lmfao.

*whether he WAS spain's #2 singles man for this entire time is also little bit up for debate. his peak partly overlapped with ferru's slump but not entirely. in this universe it's a definitely a reflection of, like, alpha discourse.

at the same time for the vast majority of this time they were definitely Friends and Bros. just... friends who fought sometimes. so. very much a two-alpha dynamic. 

(one HUNDRED percent the mere existence of omega feli makes the tension worse, like they are not fighting over him per se but the pack instincts are making things real weird. he's my friend. no he's my situationship.)

feli lopez: the most omega to ever omega. i understand that in light of latter day feli lopez, happy second marriage 40-something year old family man feli lopez, it's probably hard to envision this, but i cannot express the degree to which 2000s feli lopez was a walking talking bl manga character like. my god. incredibly touchy and unbelievably beautiful and prone to Dramatic Emotions that he blurted all over everyone at the drop of a hat. this is someone who gets soooo much validation through physical touch. and specifically through sex. feli has so many friends he's spent heats with and he loves them all so much. but the moment you bring Feelings into it things get real messy real fast.

(once again this is really material for a lore post and not an omegaverse casting post but my very favorite "oh my god you are SUCH A MESS" moment is the time in 2010 he got on twitter at midnight in miami to tweet through his breakup feelings in ENGLISH, including replying to everyone who replied to him. most of whom were—because it was midnight in miami—americans on livejournal. direct quote: "i have everything in my life besides love." anyway, it was just SO, like, Everyone Comfort Me. peak omega acting out.)

—brief digression about doubles. obviously the stereotype is that betas are best at doubles/the best doubles players are betas. they are for sure well-represented but whether that's due to innate aptitude or structural impacts, e.g. they are funneled in that direction early on, is an open question.

a doubles team that does not include any betas: lopez/verdasco, 2004-2011. there's been a lot of trope subversion so far. there is ZERO subversion here. lmao. alpha/omega, ad/deuce, top/bottom, in every way the ultimate encapsulation of the stereotype. so it's FUNNY that they spend the next FIFTEEN YEARS on and off and on and off and on and off and at one point it looks like they're both going to mate/settle down with other people only surprise that falls through too. like jesus christ things would have been so much easier if fer did just go for the mating bite yknow. (just to give you an idea: post the day before feli's first wedding, post FROM feli's first wedding, post from feli's retirement.)

Shorthand AU Masterpost

So my brainrot has gotten so bad that I currently I have 5 AUs for The Idiot Cowboys. At this point they might as well be OCs because this is....... Ridiculous. I have never had this happen with any other series I've been into.

All of them are still WIPs, and anything is subject to change because I have no idea what I'm doing. (pic to break up the cut)

-Vampire/Werewolf (this one you already know); I use BBFF for short when referring to this. BBFF is short for Bark Bark Flap Flap, because I am garbage at naming things, lol (Masterpost here, and I will also post a short and simple summary comic I made for it when I get the chance)

This only happened cuz of the amount of research I've had to do to scientifically justify the supernatural elements in my mind. (there is a lot of science nonsense in here, ESPECIALLY around the vampire mechanics, believe me)

This is also a slowburn from hell, cuz they are both Very Bad at dying, to the point where they through the decades up to Near Future (for those not in the fandom, it's a wacky setting with robots and psychic powers and basically a kaiju fight. Y'know, just how the people in 1994 imagined 2014 would be) and they both are intended to have unique designs for that era too. (only MD is designed for that so far, will post later.)

-Fae AU; (I call it Lil Guys AU cuz again, awful with names, summary is here) still set in the wild west, but it's kinda borrowercore with somewhat darker pepperings of Home Safety Hotline in terms of lore.

I'm working on a summary for that that I will post when it's ready, but it also has a lot of magic mechanics to it. However at this point it's mostly ramblings and whatever bullshit I doodled (and there is A LOT OF IT at this point, because this is the main one i have been scared of posting), and a lot of fic that I've not posted anywhere because I am TERRIFIED of sharing my writing, lmao.

Their relationship moves a lot faster in this one, probably because they're both facing The Horrors™ together that are under the surface of the fantasy facade, and they have to trust each other to survive. (Mostly because they are both silly little rat guys) This one is very much high risk, high return in terms of their relationship.

-Duende AU; This one, I literally stuck them in my own OG setting with my OCs (for all 5 of you who know it, it's Yukure's series, which i do need to post more of the lore for, sorry lol)

Essentially, Sundown is a normal guy/former sheriff due to being a suspect in an Unfortunate Event that befell his town in 2012 (The year which the main catalyst occurs in the series), but he was acquitted and sorta "honorably discharged" since he couldn't ever really face his job again (the investigation and trial dragged on for 5 years up to 2017, where the series takes place)

And here, MD is his "Duende" (sorta like being haunted by a ghost/having a Familiar, but they're also functionally a parasite on a host)

They have a similarly antagonistic relationship here, but it's a bit different here because Mad Dog thinks he's pretty much a normal, charming, handsome, witty, suave bounty hunter, who's not sure why he got stuck with some guy with ptsd and depression, and why he suddenly has weird cool powers, and now he's coping with essentially being a ghost/incorporeal.

-Vaudeville AU; this is not so much an AU as it is a continuation of canon

Essentially, MD finally catches Sunny after years of goin' at it, collects the bounty money, feels aimless and and horrible because he has no purpose in life. (a core factor here being a sense of loss because he knows he couldn't beat Sunny at his prime, he had to wait til age caught up with him, and he's realizing how much of his own life he spent on it and is Going Through It)

So he breaks Sunny out of jail, talk out their problems, and live the rest of their lives with the bounty money hiding from the law. (fake names, new aliases, everything)

The Vaudeville part comes in cuz MD eventually buys a theater with the reward money, and the setting takes place in the early 1930s as a LAL fan chapter which I keep meaning to write. (These two are really just minor characters in that setting but it's fun anyway lol)

They're in their 70s at this point, but they're still kickin!

-Roleswap; this is pretty much just what it says on the tin. If Mad Dog was the outlaw and Sundown was the bounty hunter.

I think MD is wanted for (allegedly) burning down a theater that he was performing in (in truth, the owner needed insurance money and blamed it on him)

This one in particular is fascinating, mostly because Sundown isn't dead inside.

He still has light in his eyes and people to protect. They survived the attack, but he still left town to draw attention away from them, and hunts bounties to survive. (he sends the money to them)

This one is probably the least developed, but still open ended for shenanigans. (I REALLY wanna make the designs for it too...)

y'all, this has been said before, but she went to a university in Nice to study journalism, but dropped out and went to Dominican Republic with a rich guy. She came back to Paris in 2012 and dated another guy who can be seen in her the voice audition videos, he even did interviews and talked about her (idk if this one was a different guy or the same one standing side stage while she was auditioning) in those interviews he said Pauline quit anything else to pursue music, so basically she hasn't had a job since 2012. I'm sure she didn't have one before that but she claims she's worked as a waitress and a publicist for an art gallery or whatever. Take it with a pinch of salt. all of her boyfriends have been sorta wealthy. Yet she still wore cheap fast fashion clothes and rented rooms in shared apartments. There is the (in)famous facebook post of her looking for a roommate (didn't she also describe herself as a maniac or sth there? Lmao) anyway she even said her family had to move frequently and started from scratch. Basically everything she got, she got after she started dating Alex.

Now one interesting thing here is that she was still renting rooms in early 2020, and whenever she and Alex met up it was at a hotel. In early 2020 when the pandemic hit she went to London to stay at Alex's house (insert the infamous IG story of her on the train telling others to stay at home) and Alex went to LA and started writing The Car (insert photos of two cups when she was alone #twocupsonegirl). He went back to London after a few weeks and shortly after that Pauline was back in Paris. That was when he got her the first ground apartment, she even posted painting the walls or sth. I think it was in a pretty bad state lol. I can imagine her telling Alex she can't risk her health and safety staying with others during that time, and he didn't want her to stay with him and maybe she couldn't because of visas and stuff, so that's why she was finally able to live alone.

In 2019 he even took his black Wurli to Paris so she could perform (and pose) with it. Then he got her the green one which hasn't been seen in a while lmao.

The last time she was seen in that apartment was in June 2024 after she went back to Paris from LA, and apparently she has a new one now. I can also imagine her telling Alex that one's address got leaked and she was scared of fans harassing her or whatever. I don't think anyone cared enough tbh lol.

so for context my parents used to pay for a monthly subscription to "póni klub" (pony club) which basically mailed you a box of horse things every month and a big box every year (if i remember correctly! im not sure, i only got like 3 or 4 of them in total coz they said it was too expensive 😔) which means i have like an extreme assortment of random things just from that and then there's all the stuff i got as presents or as a vásárfia (means like, "son of the market" it's basically when someone gets you a little thing from the market you're at just coz you're there, for me it also meant like, the grocery store we went to on a roadtrip)

the póni klub stuff is extremely diverse, i have two calendar-journal things (explained a bit better later), several episodes of heartland on dvd (which i dont think i ever watched), a scary as hell audiobook about a cursed tree ?? (there's a horse there also), a bunch of fantasy or y/a books about horses, stickers, keychains, erasers, anything you can imagine basically, and also a lot of little figurines

the one i was specifically thinking of when i made the post is a toyline called picipacik (c is pronounced like ts so it's like, cute to say, it means like, "tiny horsies") which came with a little personality card for each horse and also a disc to a pc game which i spent an hour trying to find before answering this ask LMAO but i got it, it was one of those collectible things but all the figurines have fur (the cards have fur too i almost forgot!!!) and they all have names and exist in the game too

i got i think one of them from póniklub and bought the rest independently but i couldn't tell you, the póni klub calendar/journal/activity book thingies (they're really good btw they have like puzzles and jokes and informative articles in them too) are dated 2008 and 2012 so yknow. it's been. an insane amount of time. im shocked i even remember anything at all tbh but horse memories are forever i suppose

idk if you know about the german horse figurine company schleich but every time we went to austria/germany (pretty often, long story) I'd see them on the shelf and I'd want one SOOO so fucking bad sooo bad but my parents were like no way they're way too expensive 😠 only for me to realise a few months ago they're literally 3-10 euros but WHATEVER i had a few of those coz I'd beg to get one every time i saw them, chief among them these 2 beasts. the pegasus has been on my shelf for as long as i've had the shelf and it's looking at me typing this and the skewbald horse is in the attic in my horse box but ok so looking these up they're selling for like hundreds of dollars on ebay which is insane coz they were DEFINITELY not even remotely that expensive or I wouldn't have gotten them. anyway they were absolute treasures coz of how much begging it took to get them and how much i liked them, i took them with me everywhere

i also have these gorgeous little guys or well i only have the palomino but i have two of it but i played with them a crazy amount as a baby so they're really beat up, one of them lost his tail years before i developed the ability to retain memories but i cannot even begin to tell you just how soft and fluffy their manes are

my BIGGEST obsession and the one i actually got to indulge in was filly ponies, they were really cheap and came in blind bags so that was the vásárfia i usually got on the aforementioned germany/austria trips, im not sure exactly how many i have but it has to be like at least 20 or 30? i dont have any full series coz they kept updating the generations really quickly so like every few months there'd be a whole new batch of them. I'd spend ages trying to look at the available horses on the back and trying to feel the blind bag and guess which one was inside and i was correct surprisingly often, I'd say like 70-80% of the time. and since they were really small well. i never shoplifted any unprompted but one time i found a bag someone had torn open and then left there, horse and all, and i didnt have the heart to leave it so i put it in my pocket. they also came w personality cards but i lost some of them and I wasn't brave enough to also pocket the personality card of the open one but given my tendency to lose things i own a surprising amount. they also came with big maps and catalogues so I'd cross out the ones i had and circle the ones i wanted, i still have the unicorn catalogue glued on my wall, that's the one i got the most of but im sure i have at least one of each kind, this is what the blind bags looked like but i also have one of the metal boxes

there were loads in each series and uh, hm, huh, well, lmfao ?? always encouraging when something's wikipedia page has a lawsuits section. im a fillyhead forever i think crimes are ok. ALSO APPARENTLY THERE'S A TV SHOW??? DAMN. to me they'll always be fun little toys i collected when i was 5. love these guys so much if i had shelf space I'd display them. i used to have them displayed but alas i have too many items and things now also everything is always dusty. like i said the unicorns are the ones i have the most of and i only ever got a single blind bag from the crowned series but i spent ages feeling the bag to make sure i got jewel the big one in the middle and I DID!!!! getting a good grade in uh, feeling blind bags???

anyway i hit the image limit but thank you so much for asking, i loove my little horse toys :-)) there's many more but they either dont have fun lore attached or they're just gen 2/gen 3/gen 4 my little pony toys or legos or lps or the horses that came with those wooden train sets so slightly less specific than the examples above but yeah i have a veritable museum of horse toys and plushies and so-on. i dont think I've gotten anything horse related either for myself or as a gift in MANY years (other than, yknow, horse riding stuff and then the actual living horse i had for a few beautiful years) which is honestly surprising given the sheer amount of horse stuff i got from age 0 to like, mid teens but i guess my inventory filled up or something

Hello there :D you sent this the same day as that fav books ask I answered last week, so sorry for taking so long to get to this I then ALSO got the ask for beginner friendly comics and basically this is a long time coming here are a few of my favorite comics and graphic novels ever, including some repetitions from the beginner friendly ask lmao

So for Deadpool I have said this a million times and I will say this again: the 2012 run by Posehn and Duggan is fucking GOD. It's funny and witty and a little gory like any good wade comic yes, but it's also got so much heart and I love the cast and it brought in Ellie who's just fucking EVERYTHING to me. I'm also enjoying the current run of Deadpool by Alyssa Wong like no run of Deadpool since, and if you're looking for a run of marvel comics to pick up right now oh my God start there for real

Obviously another favorite is Spider Gwen - mostly the original Radioactive Spider-Gwen, but Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider and Ghost Spider are also really good, just not quite as solid and unfortunately the story told in them gets cut off and has yet to be continued. Obviously Spider-Gwen has been a solid 15% of my personality over the past year and I literally lectured on what it has to say on the main 616 universe but I just love earth-65's versions of Gwen, Captain Stacy, Harry Osborn, Emjay, and Matt Murdock (Murderdock my beloved) soooo fucking much like everyone in this cast is fucking amazing!!! If you let me talk about Spider Gwen I probably won't shut up

Anyway another one of my favorite books is Spider Men: Worlds Collide. It collects Spider Men and Spider Men II, and it focuses on two team ups between Peter and Miles, one back when they lived in separate universes and the other after the Ultimate universe got ixnayed and Miles was transported to 616. I actually prefer Spider Men II overall, I think it's a great story and it has one of best bi!peter panels imho, but both stories are great and very recommended.

Still with Marvel, if you haven't read the 2014 Scarlet Witch run by James Robinson, oh my God you're missing out. Every issue is drawn by the a different artist, except for the last issue which is drawn by the same artist as the first, which really works cause it happened right after the magneto-isn't-her-dad retcon so she's searching for her identity. The writing is gorgeous and all of the artists do an amazing job. I showed a panel to my niece once and she hasn't shut up about it for a year, it's that pretty. So it's worth reading for the art alone, I cannot emphasize this enough, but I love the story and the use of Agatha too.

I also love love love love LOVE Alias. Can we talk about how good Alias is? I feel like people don't talk about how good Alias is enough. Like I said in my beginner's rec post, it deals with really heavy stuff, but it does it with such gravitas! I love the noir feel, I love the way the art reflects what's going on with Jessica, I love the flashbacks, I love Jessica/Luke, like everything about it is amazing.

Moving onto DC, we have to mention Watchmen since it's the first comic I ever read. Is it good? ... Like I said with the question of is it beginner friendly, I have no idea. But you asked for my favorites, and as the first comic I ever read it holds a real place in my heart. A lot of it still haunts me, honestly. Say what you will on the dark age of comic books and what it led to later, I love it.

And then ofc there's Under the Red Hood. Do I even have to say it? My obsession with Jason is as easily observed as my obsessions with Wade Wilson or any version of Gwen Stacy. This story is iconic, it's so well written, I love the art, it's fucking heartbreaking. My guys I love this story so goddamn much.

I haven't read nearly as much Superman as I'd like to - I'm working on it don't you worry - but I recently read the Death of Superman trilogy and the third book in particular, The Return of Superman - also called The Reign of the Supermen in some editions I believe - is soooooo good. I actually almost sent in a lecture just about this book instead of my lecture about Smallville, but ultimately I have more to say on Smallville so I went with that, but still. Guys, the different Supermen here, the things they represent, not to mention just how fucking great Kon is in his first appearance and how much I sympathize with Lois here - there's so much to love about this. Plus I love late '80s and '90s Superman art, there's something about that specific time period's art style that I just find hits exactly in the right spot.

Batwoman: Elegy!!! Greg Rucka my beloved <3 honestly I'm still mad I hadn't read this before I did my og comic book lecture on the Jewish nature of the medium, it's so good at representing all the ideas I was trying to put into words, but also the art and the narrative and the character it's trying to introduce all make such an impression, it's so fucking good.

Moving onto indie comics, we have to talk buffy comics. I have read a lot of buffy comics. Not even close to all of them, I fell off the wagon somewhere around mid season nine and only purchased a bit of season ten, but I still have a certain affection in my heart for season eight, since I found all of it in the second hand booth at my first ever con. I also think Angel: After the Fall is fucking excellent.

This is already too long so I'll just life a few more things here - Nimona and Lumberjanes - ND Stevenson, my guys, like they just do it every time. Giant days, paper girls, also great indie comics. There's a graphic novel called witchy I really love - I recently realized there's a vol 2 and I desperately need to read it, I genuinely just thought it ended on a cliffhanger forever.

Finally, maybe this doesn't belong on this list at all, but Maus. I feel like Maus should be required reading for every adult on the face of the earth. Obviously as a Jewish person it's particularly affecting for me, but I don't think it's a coincidence there was a recent banning of the book. It's incredibly impactful and in our times of rising antisemitism it is incredibly important as well. Do yourself a favor and read it.

Oh boy. Ok lemme explain Ghost, sorry, this is about to be a looooooooooong post lmao but this is my current fixation so:

Ghost is a band. A band with fictional characters, and kind of a story.

The frontman is currently Papa Emeritus IV, or Copia. He's my favorite:

Before him, there were three other Papas:

This is the first Papa, or Primo as the fans call him. He debuted around 2010

He is a very grumpy, very old looking man. He was the frontman until the next Papa took over in 2012

This is Papa II, or Secondo:

This Papa has his fans, a lot of people do think he's hot. He is also an old looking, grumpy looking individual but he's also been seen without the corpse paint

He kinda looks like Pitbull.

Anyway, the next is Terzo. The third Papa.

He's apparently a few months younger than Secondo but he doesn't look it. Also I learned recently that he's like 4'9 to make of that what you will lmao. He was Papa from 2015 to 2017-18 when he was forcibly removed from stage. I think it was because he started to make it about himself instead of the cause (which since this is a Satanic band, they're trying to spread the word of Satan i guess??)

After that, the current Papa, Papa Emeritus IV or Copia, became Papa. But before he was that, he was Cardinal Copia, and he looked like this:

Now when I first found out about this band, I thought these were all different people, but it turned out, they're all the same guy, and you can kinda tell in some of the pictures that he's wearing a mask. He had several made for the different characters.

This is the man behind the mask, and the band, he's the singer and songwriter. His name's Tobias Forge:

He's a dude from Sweden who came up with this elaborate storyline and band and honestly it's super neat. He kept his real appearance hidden for a while but ultimately due to some drama he finally came forward. He seems like a really cool guy from what I've seen

But back to the storyline of Ghost, so there's one other Papa aside from the four current frontmen, and he's actually NOT played by Tobias.

Papa Nihil:

Primo, Secondo, and Terzo are his sons (and it's heavily implied that Copia is his son as well)

He's kind of the head Papa of all Papas, kind of a more Pope-like Pope I guess? He's a very grumpy man who doesn't like Copia and really didn't like that Copia got to become Papa, despite Copia being a fun character that the fanbase has ended up loving tremendously.

Also Papa Nihil is dead. Sometimes at concerts they bring his "dead body" out and revive it so he can have a saxophone solo in the instrumental song Miasma.

Then there's Sister Imperator

this is her when she was young, she's older now obviously but they've changed her actress several times. Here's some of her different older looks:

She's basically the real brains behind the operation of the Ghost Project, and she and Papa Nihil were in a relationship when they were younger (however, he fucked that up by being a bit of a player)

It's heavily implied she's Copia's mother, hence why Nihil is implied to be his father. She is the reason Copia became Papa, it was her choice.

Other characters include the ghouls! The bandmates for concerts, they usually have masks covering their faces:

this is their current look. Very steampunk-y.

So TLDR: Ghost is a Satanic themed band made by a Swede who was super into metal growing up and made a whole fictional group of characters in the process. They have videos on their youtube that show Copia becoming Papa and stuff. They actually just released a new vid not too long ago that might be implying something is going to be happening to Papa IV soon, cuz the previous Papas were killed.

It's a lot of fun and I don't take it too seriously cuz it's clear they're having fun with this, and the fanbase seems really cool from what I've seen. I'm leaving a lot out but that's cuz there's just... so much. It's really cool tho I recommend them

9) If you could change one thing about TMNT, what would it be?

Oooo that's hard.... Depends on the iteration 😂 in general I wish the consequences of the shit they go through were more prominent. I think that's a common thing with like, all media admittedly, but things like 2012!Leo's knee could've easily affected the rest of the show, like I saw a post about how his fighting style could've shifted to accommodate the injury and I think that's a great idea. Like, 2003!Leo's (sorry buddy your life mega sucks) depression arc was great because it lasted so long and had such an impact on the entire show going forward.

It's just little things, you know? Like, Good Genes, I wish 03!Don had some long-lasting changes from that. Or if they all gained scars as the shows went on (03!Leo's broken shell my beloved). Obviously I am a big proponent of the Raph mind control arc being a bigger deal LMAO.

Hehehehe... A LOT considering I only started collecting after Mutant Mayhem came out jdjdhhdjdgd. Right now I'm wearing one of my 5 TMNT shirts, I have the director's edition of the Last Ronin, I just got the Last Ronin: Lost Years (still reading it), I have three TMNT and Batman comics, the TMNT 2012 art book, AND I have my guys

Some artwork on the walls as you can see lol. I also have a 2012 Mikey Turflytle figure that's missing a bunch of pieces, so I'm going to repaint him and put him up with the others eventually.

The movie is an obvious one lol, I've seen mutant mayhem like a dozen times. Also the Rise movie I've rewatched a bunch. The shows, I haven't yet rewatched them beginning to end, I tend to jump around to my favorite episodes or arcs, but I've watched a good portion of ROTTMNT and 2012 several times.

The short answer is: yes and no, they are queer, are attracted to each other, flirted in some occasions, but they are not a couple

Long aswer below, I'll try to be as spoiler free as I can

Since 2011, when SMG4 was just a SM64 machinima channel created by a twelve year old, heavily inspired by other SM64 machinimimists like MarioMario54321, and with a bunch of influences from Youtube Poop, theres a bunch of hints of 4 and 3 being queer, mostly for jokes, it's the early 2010's

Early examples below

Hobo is generally used as a male noun in SMG4 (from "Bowser and The Nightmare Stone", 2012)

Not the only joke where the punchline is 4 going to gay bars/clubs (from "Problematic Pipe Problems", 2014)

There was this recurring joke of 3 being a Justin Bieber fan, something used to say that a character was gay, lame, evil or all three at the same time, again, it was the early 2010's (from "Crystal Funhouse", 2011)

And those hints never really stopped, nowadays is very clear that 3 is mlm and 4 is seeing as bisexual by almost everyone

Recent examples below

Every time SMG3 appears with a body pillow, is of a male character (from "Mario's Spicy Day", 2020 and "SMG4 & SMG3 rank SMG4's characters", 2024)

This is the biggest "this guy is bisexual and polyamours" ever lmao (from "The New Castle", 2024)

I would say that they remaining queer today is a result of the gay jokes from yesterday, instead of them removing this aspect of their characters, they leaned into it. The same happened with smg4!Luigi, who is canonically bisexual

Gay jokes to me are just a plus, their relationship and them being two sides of the same coin, life and death, yin and yang are what makes them extremely compelling to me

running through the list alphabetically by team:

anaheim - technically, this is now vacant b/c their season is over & getzlaf is retired. he was co-rookies w/ corey perry, they inherited the team from teemu selanne, & they were on a kid line that helped get the ducks their single cup. he was promoted to captaincy for his early career glory and got the team close twice more (conference finals) but never quite. he got overshadowed by the other california team captains i think, even if i never cared much for him either. i don't know enough about the current ducks to even slightly guess at their next captain.

arizona - vacant. their last captain was OEL whose narrative was the guy whose time was always just a little too late -- he peaked just after the yotes core that was actually pretty good from 2009-2012; he was named captain after his career peaked, even tho he remained fan-beloved; he was traded away after his trade value had crashed. i think their next captain will be chychrun if he isn't traded, crouse if chychrun is traded, and no idea if both of them are traded. it's misery hours in the sonoran desert, babes.

boston - i'm sorry i spent so long refusing to learn about any bruin who isn't tuukka that the only things i know about bergeron is that his bestie is marchand and he wins the selke every year, even when he doesn't win it he does (i'm a canucks fan this is the first year i've mildly tolerated the bruins, given the 2011 cup finals)

buffalo - vacant. lmao y'all can dig my eichel tag if you wanna know that narrative i've only written several novellas about him this season. idk enough to guess the next captain. o @drartemysia wants it to be tage and i agree bc i think she deserves what she likes :)

calgary - vacant. giordano was the successor to iginla, which were impossible shoes to fill, but his whole thing was basically team's steadfast dad. if the next one isn't ratthew i'll be joining the trade ratthew campaign that i think many flames fans would start -- he's beloved, he's a character, he's grown so much from skillful pest with a dangerous edge to just flat out skillful pest (ignore this current playoff series, the stars are digging up old ratt). he'll have a lovely narrative about growing into the steady reliable legacy before him and giving it a new funky shine.

carolina - JORDAN. a Staal. the last time a staal led this team, they won their only cup, y'know. are they chasing their past b/c they keep coming up short these past few years? are they harnessing a legacy, uniting the past & present to make that leap? and jordy himself has changed a lot from the kid who won the cup w/ sid & the pens back in 2009. is he chasing youthful success or is he bringing experience to an otherwise young core? it's a juicy narrative w/ fun lil callbacks. also he's their dad :)

chicago - it's unfortunate that this entire org is irredeemable b/c the captaincy narrative around toews actually was an interesting story, but it's inseparable from pkane and the org, and it should be reframed knowing he as captain was aware of the beach allegations & treatment by the team (org & players). also i only know this narrative bc one of my undergrad bffs is a born & raised chicagoan. so i'm not going to give toews or chicago a blurb when they deserve to be dismantled.

colorado - i don't like landeskog. you can check here for why. not gonna write this one either. if i speak more i will be in big trouble.

columbus - boone!! the cbj captaincy has long been been mildly cursed -- nothing truly bad happens to them, but they're always just kind of forgotten about. boone was considered kind of an unexpected pick, b/c he's not a big star, he's not one of the local boys, and he's just super mild. but in that way, maybe he's another in a line of tradition -- unassuming, a calm head, a steady hand. the cbj captaincy story is the quiet story of persistence

dallas - haha no i'm not gonna make a fun story for benn when half the stars fans i know don't even like him either. call me when robo inherits the captaincy.

detroit - larkin is one of the captains i am least normal about in the entire league. he was drafted to be the captain. i'm not kidding. stevie y clapped his eyes on this kid from michigan who grew up a drw fan, this kid who has always been spoken of as responsible and a leader, this determined happy excited-just-to-be-here kid; and stevie said 'yeah that's our guy'. he was drafted and primed to be the captain and everyone knew it from the second he was picked, tho we were always a little worried 'what if they don't tho'. it was a relief when they finally stitched the c to his chest. the throne was always his, the captains before him agreed so. there's a quote from zetterberg about giving larks something that had been passed down from past captains, before the captaincy was made official. larks tried to tell zetta it wasn't his officially, zetta told him 'take it it's yours we all agree'. we as in the previous captains who are all still involved in the org. yeah i've cried about it.

edmonton - oh my god this captaincy is haunted and i'm not qualified to discuss it i hope mcdavid learns exorcism but also i think this org needs a whole overhaul. mcdavid is a child king appointed too soon based on prophecy and maybe fate is inescapable but it is never straight forward. what parts of your soul are you willing to rend to fight fate, what parts of your soul are you willing to rend to let fate take its course? how do you know destiny is for you? wasn't it supposed to be hall, supposed to be nugent hopkins, supposed to be yakupov?

florida - like i said i know nothing about barkov besides his lifelong bestie is pate laine, my beloved son :) he seems like a nice dude, maybe i'll learn the story there one day

los angeles - ooh kopitar is fun. to many, he's the captain who should've been. the thing is, dustin brown was captain during the kings' peaks in the mid 2010s & they won their 2 cups. brown had been drafted & raised by the kings, he's now retiring as a lifelong king. kopi was there almost the whole time. brown was always attributed with leadership qualities in juniors & w/ team usa, but kopi is The Slovenian Player -- he's captained their teams since he was a teen. he's also been a long time best kings player, while brown has mainly been middle six character piece. but the kings raised brown to be the captain, so he remained the captain & the players did respect & love him as captain. still, there was always a thread of 'what about kopitar tho', and when brown's core floundered and were slowly traded away, his captaincy was stripped. as the team unoffically leaned into a rebuild, kopi was named new captain. he's steadier, he's good with the kids, he's finally getting his flowers. there's still a lot of respect left for brown (see: he was captain for a day to commemorate his impending retirement), but he luckily bowed out. kopi's captaincy is a narrative of patience & knowing when change is necessary. i'm so fond of it

minnesota - spurgeon is one of those guys that ppl outside of the minny-sphere don't discuss much. he's quietly a Good Hockey Player (stats ppl are like him a lot). it's hard to follow the captaincy of Mikko Koivu, one of the most respected players in league history, a perennial member of the 'guys who'd have a cup on any other team' club, who could only stomach playing 7 games for another team before retiring as essentially a lifelong wild. spurge is the story of loyalty, of duty.

montreal - uuh technically it's still webs but i soft boycotted the habs when he was traded there (not his fault, i was mad about pk & galchenyuk & bergevin's administration) & only mildly got nicer to them this season after they finally got rid of bergevin. so the last habs captain narrative i knew well was patch, which i am very bitter about still. and giving respect to my habs friends, i will not go down that path here. i hope suzuki gets the captaincy soon. that will be a nice tale and i think my buddy amanda @st-louis will be the best person to tell it.

nashville - josi is interesting. he's maybe a captain who was never meant to be a captain. weber was expected to retire in nashville, but things went sour in the mid-2010s after suter signed to minny in free agency and weber seemed to need a new environment and the org had seemingly lost their patience with him. so he got traded for subban & fisher was given captaincy to warm the seat. josi was still relatively young through these struggles. he's a prince that no one expected to inherit bc the king was healthy and strong and so beloved so blessed so steadfast. and for years now, with josi as captain, the preds continue to surpass expectations (admittedly mostly by the grace of their goalies). hehe he's the little captain that could :)

new jersey - friends, we have another boy king in our midst (the league loves these). hischier was a 1oa in what was at the time considered an underwhelming draft. the devs had been considered identity-less ever since brodeur's trade in 2014 and later retirement in 2015. there's still lingering speculation that hischier was appointed too soon to inject any sense of identity into this team. we are still seeing this core be built. the narrative is a kid was given an impossible task and he's quietly solving this puzzle with the help of the friends he made along the way. i'm genuinely hopeful for the devs' future

isles - anders lee was never meant to be captain!! i love his bland boy next door quadzilla himbo ass so much but he is a second son. johnny said 'fuck you dad i never wanted to be an isle take the family business and shove it' (this is a joke, i'm neutral to fond about tavares, but i think the isles memes about him are kinda funny), so lou lamariello rubbed a weary hand down his face, peaked between his fingers at anders just twiddling his thumbs at the back of the board room and went, 'ok bud do you want a whack at it'.

rangers - vacant. this should be kreider and i can write that narrative when it happens, tho others will be much more qualified, but all i have to say is this should be kreider

ottawa - i'm sorry i've spent so long lowkey laughing at the sens that i have no idea what background narrative led to brady tkachuk getting this captaincy. i do know there is currently a kerfuffle about chabot being named team canada captain for worlds, which i guess is raising the known-to-sens-fans controversy that maybe he should've gotten the captaincy over tkachuk? maybe this is a coup narrative. maybe the crown was usurped! i am not aware of the palace intrigue but if anyone wants to tell me the tale i will gladly listen and share your verses in the future. i'm a silly lil jester, a traveling bard :)

philly - haha vacant haha no i'm not writing this up, all you need to know about the flyers captaincy is this video i made before claude's inevitable trade

pitt - psssshhh i'm a flyers fan y'all don't want me to write the pens captain narrative lmao but basically sid is the chosen one, he's what mcdavid was supposed to be to edmonton, he's won 3 cups for them, raised the team out of bankruptcy on his star power. he's a superhero story, ups and downs and inhuman ability

san jose - couture wasn't supposed to be captain but both joes fled the shark tank and he's what's left and half of sharks fans don't even like him anyway. i can't write this one, buds

seattle - lmao vacant b/c giordano went to toronto this org is still fledgling and messy, but boy they're trying it's like watching my parents' young chickens run around, fond and illogical, no sense of a plan about them. i want their next captain to be mccann. if the rivalry with the canucks ever finds its feet, it'll be fun for them to have a captain who was our scorned former draftee

st louis - ngl i forgot o'reilly was their captain until this moment. i knew petro was gone bc uuhh i love that dude. i don't know this narrative, sorry

tampa - steven stamkos was almost given up on and i'll remember that forever. he inherited from lecavalier & st louis, a heavy cloak of a legacy to wear. drafted by hockey savant steve yzerman, raised for the captaincy, given so much patience and surrounded by consistently one of the best built teams year in and year out. cup finals and conference finals and record breaking point seasons. when the bolts were swept by cbj in 2019, a massive crack seemed to appear in the durably beautifully carefully crafted vase. there were rumors that the core would be torn apart and sold, that stammer would sign back home in toronto, that the bolts were a failed experiment. but they stayed the course and what would you know fate smiled upon them with back to back cups. this is a feel good fairytale of patience and loyalty and persistence and all the 'cap circumvention' boo babies can cry outside the city walls

toronto - you can't tell this story without telling the recent isles' story, but actually you can't tell this story without 60 years of maple leaf history & maybe a degree in canadian history. if the edmonton captaincy is haunted, the leafs are something quieter, not actively marauding them quite as much, but ages longer and with a million more eyes on them for it. tavares' leaf captaincy is a very old ghost story or maybe a multiverse story. i don't know it well enough to tell it tho

vancouver - beloveds oh beloveds. captain bowie horvat, our collective son. we knew when he was drafted he would be the next captain. we weren't sure, but we knew. the sedins stayed lifelong canucks, they raised bo to the captaincy, they protected him as long as they could, and they retired. we were so certain he'd be given captaincy immediately, but the org kept it as an extra out for appeasement as the team sunk and sunk and sunk. but we're getting somewhere now and our new management has expressed confidence in bo. bo was the last canuck to be given an animal nickname, which was a staple of the sedin era (his name was bison). did you know the entire team called him cap even before he was named captain? it was an open secret with the media for like a year. there's official canucks videos with guys calling him cap the season before he was named captain. he's who the people always wanted and he's who the people were happy to receive. i don't acknowledge anyone who doesn't want him to stay as captain. his captaincy is a love story -- he was raised in the gentleness of the sedins, he was always meant to be here, he'll gently lovingly steer us forward. his captaincy is romantic.

vegas - oh this is not my story to tell. oli @himbeaux-on-ice is our resident mark stone enthusiast and i'm almost certain they've written up several detailed posts about stoney's path to the captaincy. please explore their blog with wild abandon bc they are one of the reasons i've grown the confidence to make more of these wildly long and winding narrative posts (same of other's i've tagged in this post)

washington - like crosby and mcdavid, who does not already know this narrative? but tldr, ovechkin was drafted & appointed in defiance of hockey culture's respectability politics. is he of course very very very good at hockey? yes, but the hockey media machine wasn't sure it was 'enough' for years. the narrative is spite, the narrative is defiance, the narrative is being who you are no matter who likes it, the narrative is insisting on yourself. one of my fav caps narrative ppl (actually she's generally post-soviet hockey narratives, but she's a caps fan also) is g @csykora. idr if she's written much on ovechkin specifically, b/c my memory is more conceptual than data, but please read her writing as it also inspires me to indulge my narrative whims.

winnipeg - oh what a one to end on. this captaincy may be ending soon. we don't know what winny is doing, do we? mr wheeler's captaincy is the story of a faithful soldier. he has done everything the org asked of him, done his best, bit his tongue, faced the twists and turns of the path with a strong brow and steady step. winny is staring down the barrel of potentially blowing up its core, and no one expected it to go this way. maybe they're the trojans, a stronghold we never thought could fall so dramatically. (maybe i've been reading too much of o's greek myths lmao)

So I have been reading/looking at/watching/etc. a lot of TMNT stuff; I know, what a surprise, and something I notice, even in stuff I actually like, by creators I actually like, is that they seem to think 2012 Leo had like, I don't know, a relationship with Splinter where he wouldn't how the brothers feel in how they were both positively and negatively by Splinter (esp. the latter), and I am like, just confused by that. Like, Leo is one of the most affected by 2012 Splinter, for both better and worse (which, you know from ur posts/fics/answers to my and other people's asks already, but yeah).

I love 2012 Splinter, and he was just trying his best, and his sons turned out great/to be good boys really, but like, idk, I just found it odd that some people seem to take like, the very, very, very surface level of 2012 Leo and Splinter's relationship and characters even when it comes to this (and sometimes just kind of in general).

Anyways yeah, I just found this odd. Like I said, it even happens in stuff I do actually love a lot, and in those things, it is more like me just finding it a bit odd if anything most of the time, but it is still me still loving those things overall.

Maybe it/this happens because it is focusing on another character mainly and/or another character and Leo, and such, the POV is more skewed and/or their biases and/or etc. from the characters themselves? I could see that.

What do you think? Do you think? Why do you think this happens sometimes? (because obviously, it doesn't happen all of the time, or even most of the time. It is just something that happens sometimes and/or enough that I do find it somewhat odd).

As for the 2012 Splinter and Leo thing, god yeah?? I honestly think it comes from this idea that neglectful parenting is worse than overbearing/over-critical parenting, of which Splinter can do both (IT’S NOT THAT DEEP THO like this is a kids show I’m not saying it has super serious themes of abusive parenting, I’m just trying to figure out why this happens lmao). And maybe it’s also because Leo rarely shows that he understands what Splinter’s parenting does to his brothers, but in turn, they also don’t show that they understand Leo either.

I think there’s also this idea that even the show tries to push that since Leo has Splinter’s full attention, he’s better off than the rest of his brothers, but that couldn’t be further from the truth given how Leo behaves (HE’S TOO SELF SACRIFICIAL MY GOD). But, I ultimately think it’s a matter of which character is your favorite lmao. Like Leo is my favorite so I’m the most compassionate to him, and I know that I tend to look at the other characters with a very surface level take since I’m not as passionate about them, but I try to take into consideration every character’s struggle when I write them yk? Not everyone has to do that though lol I just think that’s probably why people write characters a certain way, especially Leo

I've seen a lot of like, discourse in the Stranger Things fandom and I don't like it. There's a cool video of Eddie cosplayers just like, having fun at a con goinng around and it's spawned some mouth breathers that claim to like the show spreading a lot of hate because of it. Saying things like "Eddie would hate you guys" and "You're ruining this fandom/Eddie" which just makes me wonder, like are y'all watching the same show?? I feel like you guys have some weird gatekeeper version of Stranger Things I want no part of.

Stranger Things has always been for self proclaimed weirdos like Eddie and pretty much anyone outside of the preconceived societal norms. Eddie's literally called Eddie 'The Freak' Munson, and in all honesty, people who are saying shit like this would probably have been friends with Jason and Angela, not him. He'd be taking in the people you bully and telling you to fuck off, quite honestly. If you're gonna keep spreading this bullshit, take it somewhere else?? Or keep it to yourself, cause haven't you heard if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all? If this is somehow controversial, I don't give a shit. I honestly don't care what y'all think of me because I know I'm right.
