At that moment, he didn’t quite realize how foolish he had been. It seemed like the whole world was within his grasp once he saw a chance —his chance— to become something greater.

He did everything he could to step away from those other advertisement programs. To remove “Addison” from his name, from his appearance and his very being.

Slowly but gut-wrenchingly rapidly, he found his wish granted. Yet, it’s funny how his insides were anything but fulfilled; instead, they remained emptier than ever.

Once a month for three days I am driven to true madness. I sit at the edge and stare into the abyss. I would like to do anything to look away, but I can’t. It beckons me to fall in, and perhaps this time I will. This moment feels like lifetimes. My thoughts are no longer my own. Just as I start to tip myself forward, a drop of red disrupts the swirl. I watch for a moment, then turn to crawl back to my sanity. Next month we’ll meet again. Just as soon as I’ve reached my sanity again, the abyss will call. It’s just a moment, but it feels like lifetimes.
