i made these myself, if you have access to a printer i’d highly recommend printing these out and putting them up around shops, especially any franchises of the companies these posters target.

DISCLAIMER: STAY SAFE WHEN PUTTING THESE UP! wear innocuous clothes, a mask, gloves, etc. don’t carry/wear anything that could identify you to anyone, especially authorities. move quickly and don’t stick around where you put the poster up. put it somewhere lots of people will see it, but try to do so when few/no people are around. use strong tape as well! posters often get ripped down, especially ones like this.

the flyers are what i’ve designed, and the printable images are what i’ve found off the BDS website and google images—these are best to put up near or in front of/on establishments, especially ones you’re targeting. the general information ones are more just proof that there is a genocide happening in Palestine, aiming to combat misinformation. i’d recommend putting these up wherever people will see them, i opt for intersections and poles. also make sure images are sized properly before printing, i’ve had some issues with it before 💔

i’d also be careful using library printers/government or school facilities to print these, especially libraries. don’t do it in any way that’s traceable, and don’t put these up around schools—you could get in trouble for being “disruptive”.

A couple weeks ago, I led a zine making workshop/Palestinian solidarity event for my local Asian racial solidarity group. I gave a primer on zines and DIY as well as the political roots of DIY publishing, and some tutorials. The theme was reconnecting to resistance in an open learning circle since the Asian continent has a long and wide breadth history of resistance. We provided zine making supplies and I brought both some Palestinian zines and a curated collection of examples from my personal zine library! It was also potluck style.

It was kind of interesting leading this workshop! I don't consider myself to be an expert on revolutionary histories, there's a lot of theory and info to catch up on, but I read a lot of PFLP and Palestinian resistance writing when I was in my undergrad because I was able to meet Joe Sacco who was the cartoonist who published Footnotes in Gaza and Palestine (around 2017?). I also designed some posters for his Toronto visit in partnership with the TPFF. Most significantly, I read Strategy for the Liberation of Palestine by the PFLP - it is both a historical document and a live program that lays out the fundamentals of Palestinian liberation as well as localized analysis (160~ pages). There were Asian people in attendance originating from all over the continent and of varying faiths but no one was familiar with historic Palestinian resistance, only with the current narrative about israhelli occupation - so of course I was happy to to talk about Ghassan Kanafani, Leila Khaled, and the PFLP and the historic 3rd world solidarity movements across Asia!

Most people weren't familiar with zines either, so I was also very sparkly-eyed in info dumping about zines to the room! One of the participants brought musakhan rolls which are a traditional Palestinian dish... they were SO yummy... I did have more than I should have... and they included the recipe as one of the zine pages!!! There were also many Filipinos present resulting in me going home with a lot of leftover turon (it helped me survive my ongoing depressive episode in April lol)

Overall it was so nice having conversations with others regardless of where they were at in their politicization journey. There is always more to learn, and more time to spend with one another...and we can all grow together too 🫶🏼 politicization can be very personal and I think as long as we can develop principles, sense for collective, and maintain revolutionary imagination - we can survive together!

The graphics system is inconsistent. because of my graphic work I love being able to draw on the powder and I like to make my graphics look bright and cheerful by drawing my own designs.

Neon Genesis Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo

(3.33 is just the BD home release edit/version, I need to find a source for movie posters and shit for these)

It's difficult to talk about this one in this context because it's one of those things you just need to go into first. It's fucking excellent, I'll say that easily, from start to finish it's a fucking ride, but it's also third in a set of four movies that are very tightly bound and it is distinctly aware of and is using that fact.

It's not even purely a "NO SPOILERS YOU NEED TO GO IN BLIND" thing, though I'd say that's ideal, it's that a lot of what made this work for me is predicated on the two that came before, 2.0 especially. You really do need to watch these as a set.

I'm going to put spoiler/specific detail shit under the Read More, just to have them down somewhere, but suffice to say I'm dying for the cinema release of the fourth movie (which I have found out is coming over a year after the US release because The PAL Delay never truly left)

Dying to see 3.0+1.0 now.

First off, each of these mimics the original show's "Next Time on Evangelion" episode previews at the end after the credits, and like most of the elements these have drawn from the original it uses it very cheekily and cleverly. Which is to say, 2.0's Next Time drops some brand new facts (there being an 8th Eva Unit, when only up to 6 had been mentioned) in and around detailing the events prior to the original show's end/the End of Evangelion's opening events (NERV being sieged, personnel shot or arrested, the dawning of Third Impact). This was preceded by a post-credits scene of Kaworu in Eva Unit 06 beaning a lance through 01's head seemingly to interrupt/prevent Third Impact from taking off.

So 3.0 opening in what is very explicitly, from visual alone, a post-Third Impact world with Asuka and Mari in their Eva Units retrieving a sealed Unit 01 with Shinji inside in a very flashy action sequence against a brand new Angel is an eye-opener of a punch. It's this fascinating thing where 1.0 and especially 2.0 deviate in clear ways that are rather important and obviously meaningful, and thus not even showing a changed or redone version of End of Eva's events suggest it happened more or less exactly as it did before, excepting what was said (in 2.0's Next TIme) about the actions of Unit 08 (Mari's Eva). This is reinforced by Asuka wearing an eye-patch over the eye the Lance of Longinus pierces in EoE, and Unit 02 having a disabled eye to match (purposefully so for aesthetic reasons, I love Asuka and her dedication to keeping an aesthetic): even if Asuka isn't the same Asuka as she was in the original (with her different surname and all), in the end it still broadly happened the same way.

It's all delivered so cleanly through character designs and the Third Impact visuals and starting where it does, it's top tier stuff.

That's basically what I mean when I said above that talking about this one "in this context" was tricky, because basically I just want to gush about shit like that with it. How the entire lengthy battle sequences against the Angels following Shinji's retrieval is a super-long sequence of establishing how far man has come, re-emerging from Third Impact and now able to step to Angels through more than just Evas, and more importantly underlining just how much everyone has changed with the passage of time and why...but Shinji hasn't, as the time between the end of 2.0 and now just passed basically instantly. We didn't get to see what happened, and neither did he, and the unmooring effect is well done.

I have a pretty good idea of where this is all going in a thematic sense (it's about change, in all the ways one can - and should - change, from the simple and surface things to the more personal) but for the actual "where is the story going" i've no idea. 3.0 is completely and entirely new, the remake directive has been thrown off and it's going to new territory. The very title of the fourth, "3.0+1.0", is rife with meaning, though I don't know that I'm thinking of the same meanings.

I can't imagine waiting for these as they came out, though at the same time I kinda wish I did. The waiting must have been a hell of a thing. I'm fucking dying for 3.0+1.0 now.

Lucca Collezionando, il festival del fumetto vintage-pop, si terrà sabato 25 e domenica 26 marzo al Polo Fieristico di Lucca, cui seguirà VerdeMura, la mostra mercato del giardinaggio e del vivere all’aria aperta, nel weekend di venerdì 31 marzo, sabato 1 e domenica 2 aprile sulle Mura di Lucca. In questo modo torna la Lucca Crea Week, la formula che vede questi due eventi dar vita a una settimana speciale, con week-end consecutivi ricchi di appuntamenti e iniziative. Lucca Collezionando è il Festival vintage-pop primaverile ideato da Lucca Comics & Games dedicato al fumetto ed allo slow entertainment ed è il luogo ideale per completare la collezione, trovare le ultime uscite editoriali e incontrare gli artisti preferiti. Tutto questo nel contesto di un week-end a misura di appassionati in cui immergersi in mezzo alle tavole originali e alle statue da collezione, fra gli stand di editori, collezionisti, negozi specializzati e associazioni. Tra gli ospiti di Lucca Collezionando 2023 saranno Alfonso Font e Claudio Villa, tra i disegnatori di Tex, personaggio a cui sarà inoltre dedicata una mostra per i suoi 75 anni ed Elena Mirulla, disegnatrice di riferimento di Cronaca di Topolinia, presenterà la nuova opera Weird Vampy. Un’area sarà dedicata agli incontri con i lettori e ai firmacopie con diversi autori, disegnatori e illustratori di fama nazionale ed internazionale, oltre a una artist alley con autori che disegneranno dal vivo. Oltre alla mostra per i 75 anni di Tex, è prevista una dedicata al mondo dei Masters of the Universe, con centinaia di pezzi originali dei giocattoli, tra action figure, playset e veicoli, con tra gli ospiti Emiliano Santalucia, illustratore e designer protagonista della creazione dei mondi in cui agiscono i Masters, e Giuliano Piccininno, uno dei principali disegnatori italiani delle creature di Eternia. Un allestimento celebrerà i 40 anni di Ken il Guerriero, personaggio di manga e serie animate, reato nel 1983 dai pennelli di Tetsuo Hara e dalla penna di Buronson e un’installazione festeggerà invece i 25 anni del videogioco Half-Life, mentre nella sala giochi realizzata nell’area lounge saranno delle postazioni per tornare a cimentarsi con quella avventura. Prosegue poi il percorso dedicato alla satira, avviato nel 2022 con la mostra dedicata ad Andy Capp: che vedrà al centro l’arte di Massimo Cavezzali, con una mostra dal titolo Datemi una leva che mi levo dai coglioni. In collaborazione con il Museo del Figurino Storico di Calenzano, sarà allestita un’esposizione dei progenitori degli action figure e delle miniature contemporanee, pezzi originali dal secondo secolo d.C. a oggi e si arricchisce la partnership tra Lucca Crea e il gruppo imprenditoriale lucchese Giannecchini con un’esposizione dei calendari d’arte degli ultimi tre anni, realizzati da artisti emergenti con il coinvolgimento dei vincitori del Project Contest di Lucca Comics & Games degli ultimi anni, concorso realizzato in collaborazione con Edizioni BD. Per celebrare i quarant’anni dell’Incantevole Creamy, grazie ad Anime Import i collezionisti troveranno il 3D di PinoPino, l’alieno della Stella Piumata che dà i poteri magici alla bimba Yu, dedicato agli amanti dell’anime, realizzato appositamente per festeggiare il compleanno di Creamy.
