Sanders Sides theory (rant). I know im mainly a mh acc here but I have thoughts i need to get out there

(just fyi this theory is Roman centric, I know most TSS people nowadays are talking ab Orange and Logan so if Roman's not interesting then continue on 🔥🔥)

(Also slight TW, talking ab the sides "ducking out" and depression themes, so yeah👍👍)

Okay so. I was scrolling through Sanders Sides theories and found that no one seems to have this theory, even though I thought the Roman angst enjoyers like me would be writing this all over the place but. Ig that means I need to talk about it.

I've had this theory for years now, since the day I first watched SVS Redux.

I think Roman is going to duck out.

I dont know if I have to explain why but. I mean, just looking at the explosive end SVS Redux had will tell you a lot.

He doesn't belive Patton when he tells him they love him. He thinks Thomas has lost all faith in him in favor of the person Roman views as the epitome of evil. He's been switching views left and right to stay on Patton's side (because Thomas prides himself on his morals), but he always ends up doing something wrong - he always ends up as an antagonist. He no longer believes that he is the one thing that being has kept him stable since "Am I Original?" - Thomas' hero. The only side he has a stable and positive relationship with is VIRGIL of all people. And tbh that could quickly be ruined too. Logan is second, though, but that's EXTREMELY fragile, as we've seen.

Roman always does something wrong and it will and has sent him over the edge. From Roman's perspective, with a very flawed view of everyone around him, he is inherently the thing that flaws Thomas.

+ Roman is really dramatic obviously, so ofc he would do this.

When you look at Virgil's reasonings for ducking out, it seems plausible after everything Roman has gone through recently, too. I mean like:

"I quit. Decided it wasn't worth it anymore"

Why would Roman keep fighting a battle he knows he will never win?

"Well, It didn’t seemed like I was wanted. You all made that pretty clear any time I showed up."

Again, from Roman's perspective, he is constantly and consistently antagonized.

"If I wanted to stand around being insulted, I would've shown up I would've shown up in person like I usually do."

"I actually think you were right to not want me around."

Roman fears that he is becoming the villain (as we see in SVS, SVS Redux and DWIT).

(In fact, Roman has already said something quite similar to that last one in sentiment.

In SVS Redux, Roman says this, which is pretty funny because of the dramatics and the stupidity, and does get shot down quickly, but I am begging you to listen to him.

"The blame falls to me. If you're missing that do-gooder drive... I think It's because I'm in the driver seat... And I'm an awful driver... Perhaps... Perhaps I should let Patton take the wheel.")

(2nd sidenote to the Virgil quotes, can we talk ab Thomas' acting again I just love how tired Virgil is in AA. He's so. Troubled. I love him.)

"I've always aimed to protect you,"

THIS!! First of all his face makes me so sad BUT SECOND OF ALL yeah. Roman core idk what else to say, you get it right.

"I thought I was your hero."

So yeah.

Anyway, I think the episode where Roman does this will be centered around depression. Without Roman, Thomas is depressed. Let me explain this further.

Roman is Thomas' creativity, imagination, ego, passion, love, wills and wants, hopes and dreams, aspirations and enthusiasm.

Without any of that, what is left? A guy who can't even will himself out of bed, but can still feel the nagging voice of reason and logic telling him how unreasonable he's being. A guy who cant will himself to talk to friends, family and loved ones, but can still feel sorrow for letting them down and worrying them. A guy who can't will himself to pursue creative content that he relies on for a living but can still feel anxious about letting millions of people down and never being able to create again. A guy who cant even make food for himself or brush his teeth, but still knows he NEEDS to take care of himself. A guy whose only creativity is activly trying to disturb and scare him.

So yeah thats really awesome idk.

Furthermore, I think the sides might be SEVERELY impacted.

It has been said many times over the series that the sides are purely figments of Thomas' IMAGINATION. so. Without Roman, I doubt anything would be left. Obviously, if Roman does duck out, I don’t think they'd all immediately just cease to exist because an episode still needs to occur, but I find it likely that they'd all start slowly fading or maybe even "malfunctioning", glitching, putting them on a timer to get back Roman and making it far more tense.

Is this theory weird?????? I feel like it's the natural progression TO ME but I've seen no one even getting near this and im just confused ghfhfhfh. Maybe it is kind of weird and im just too much of a Roman enthusiast. SORRY I LOVE ANNOYING WEIRDO FREAKS!!!! AND IF I WAS HIM ID DUCK OUT TOO BECAUSE NO ONE IS APPRECIATING HIM ☹️☹️☹️ EVEN THOUGH HE'S LITERALLY WHAT MAKES THOMAS DO THINGS. 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Anyway.

I also think it fits really well because of Prinxiety's parallels, such as:

(using the ship name just as a duo name because that's what I usually do I am not trying to push the prinxiety agenda although I am a fan of it ghfyfgfh)

And

"I mean, it's cool to see you all trying to be helpful. Well most if you, but-"

The only difference in these two is obviously that Virgil just silently ducks out, while Roman has the entire "You make us better" speech, probably effectivly saving Virgil and Thomas, because it seems like Virgil was going to insist.

(Also another sidenote that I think everyone will agree with: WE NEED A "YOU MAKE US BETTER" SPEECH BY VIRGIL FOR ROMAN that is all)

Virgil saying that he tried to "duck out" and then

"That's a thing you can do?"

An addition to my Logan speculation

I swear I have other theories, but I was thinking and noticed something else from my favourite episode (WTIT) that ties in with my last post.

In the end card, Logan says:

"I suppose this isn't the worst distraction Thomas could have."

That quote's been rattling around my head for a while, and I think I've figured out why. Using the series' own logic (pun sort-of-intended?), distractions have their uses: when Thomas can't reasonably do anything in the moment to solve the problem, and when Thomas is overwhelmed with intrusive thoughts and needs a break to reset.

However, by the end of the episode, Remus leaves. This means that Thomas logically should tell Nico he's busy, schedule to hang out another time, and finish cleaning his apartment. But he doesn't do this. So why is Logan accepting an illogical conclusion?

I think it comes back to self-doubt. We've seen before that a side can lose confidence in their opinions over what Thomas should do. In fact, we've now seen every other core side do this. Roman in Selfishness V Selflessness, Patton in DWIT and SvS Redux, and Virgil earliest of all in AA.

So, it's Logan's turn. Going forward, we might see Logan react in a similar way to the others when they've experienced this before. Being more hesitant to share their opinion, relying more on supporting points by others and doubting if what they believe really is true.

I find it hard to believe that Logan's objective has changed so quickly. He's been solidly established as putting Thomas' health first, more-so the way of supporting what he needs over what he wants. This contrasts with the other sides, most of all Patton and Roman, who mostly act on Thomas' desires.

That means that Logan is either in the process of re-evaluating his position on the matter, or, more likely, is suppressing his thoughts and, in a way, lying to the others.

This is where my theory comes in. I've already explained that I believe a Janus v Logan conflict is coming, and Logan lying is the perfect setup for that. What is even more interesting is that it's becoming more and more likely that this conflict is going to come from a Janus-sympathetic standpoint.

In conclusion, Logan's doubting himself and learning to hide his opinions and this is most likely going to be used as ammunition for Janus to have solid ground to stand on in the finale. I am a strong believer that Janus has a larger plan for the sides, with honest intentions to improve Thomas' life in a way the core sides will protest against, but that's a conversation for another day.

I think that the Sanders Sides might represent more than each has told.

Let me explain.

Okay, so we know that the sides can represent more than just their official role. Logan also represents reason, knowledge, and realistic expectation. Patton also represent emotions, childlike wonder, and over controlling yourself. Roman also represents passion, ego, femininity, and masculinity. We haven't seen a lot of Remus, and have no official things that he represents besides intrusive thoughts, but we can surmise based on his personality and entrance he also represents dark thoughts (such as ones induced by depression), disturbing thoughts (which are very different from intrusive thoughts), and impulsivity. Janus represents deceit, denial, self-preservation, and selfishness. As for Virgil, he represents anxiety, but he also represents shame, apprehension, introversion, pessimism, paranoia, fear (to some extent), foresight, caution, anticipation, motivation (slightly, but this is more by proxy of him representing anxiety), and satisfaction. Now, that last one may not seem accurate, but here's a quote from Accepting Anxiety Part 2 from Patton: "ALSO, YOU'RE THAT FEELING OF TINGLINESS AFTER ACHIEVING SOMETHING HE DIDN'T THINK WAS POSSIBLE!" That feeling is known as satisfaction. However, satisfaction doesn't seem to go along with the other things he represents, which are all before the event things, while this is a post event feeling. So perhaps he represents more similar things, and perhaps the other sides also have more to them. Let's take another look.

Logan first. Now, if we inspect his behavior throughout the show, we notice something: He seems to get annoyed easily. He also gets angry rather easily. Some would say this signifies that he's being influenced by the orange side, and that the orange side is Anger/Wrath, but I have my own theories about that. I think that this may mean Logan may also represent Anger and Annoyance, two things that would go right along with Logan's personality, and his habit of being ignored over the need to be polite.

Next, Roman. Now, for Roman, it's a bit tricky, however, if we look through everything, including how he acts towards the Dark Sides, we begin to realize something: He seems to decry and defame anybody who is different, suggest a different idea, or who is criminalized by the world. Therefore, he may also represent Bias/Prejudice and Societal Conformity.

Third, Patton. Now, Patton is extremely difficult, but after some searching, verifying, and double-checking, I noticed that Patton's default is to try to convince the other sides that his way is most important, often going to Roman first, then Logan, then the others, in no particular order. Therefore, it could be that our dear daddy Patton also represents Manipulation. However, the reason he hasn't taken total control of them all by now? One, he is likely repressing that part of him in favor of being "nice", and two, Patton is canonically an indecisive mess. With that in mind, we can accurately guess that Patton likely also represents Indecision.

Fourth, Remus. Now, Remus' is a little bit obvious, he essentially says it right up front with the 'cut out all the juicy stuff' comment. Remus is Honesty. And as for the other, it may seem odd, or like I'm reaching, but hear me out. Remus makes a lot of comment about religion, especially on the way of innocence, the losing if it, as well as biblical events that were meant to teach a lesson. Therefore, it is possible that Remus may be Wisdom.

Now for Janus. In SvS Redux he didn't use lies at all near the end, relying instead in harsh truths, ones that Thomas maybe would've preferred to have been kept in denial about, so clearly he didn't care about or even consider his purpose as Deceit. Plus, Thomas wasn't even lying here, so Janus shouldn't have even been summoned. Some would claim that Thomas was in denial, and that's enough, but we have seen that the state of simply being in denial is not enough to summon him, or he would've been summoned three or four thousand times in the first season. You have to actively lie to summon him, and Thomas wasn't actively lying. Additionally, he was summoned in DWIT, when Thomas clearly wasn't intending to lie, and objecting to it in the first place. You know what he was feeling both times? Guilt. So perhaps he represents Guilt, which, while similar to his normal things, is also very separate from them. Now, in addition, we notice that Janus only attacks or uses sarcasm as a defense mechanism. Additionally, his whole purpose throughout the show has been "Protect Thomas by keeping him in denial," but then it became "Protect Thomas by helping him face his inner demons," as seen by the fact that he revealed Remus and allowed them to defeat him when he could've just let Remus keep festering, which would've actually benefited Janus, but not Thomas. So perhaps Janus represents Protectiveness as well, even protectiveness towards oneself.

Now, with this in mind, the realm for what Orange could be suddenly got a lot smaller. It has to be something that could be a dichotomy of Logan while not being an emotion (as none of the sides are an emotion, with the exception of Virgil). Additionally, it needs to leave room for him to also represent things that are not directly related to what he is. Now what is he? I can't say, though I do have my theories.

we're talkin' crying for an embarrassingly long time at the announcement that Youtooz plushies were coming out. actually, let's make a list.

these have all happened. every time. i am Not ready. you don't understand. i'm still recovering from the Incorrect Quotes. i only just calmed down from Janus' Get Ready With Me. don't even get me started on the photoshoots from this past year. my stomach still drops every time i look at Patton's and Sleep/Remy's birthday shoots, the Logan photoshoot is STILL my lock screen, and i want to cry when i see Roman's.

ONE (1) piece of Sanders Sides content A YEAR would be just fine for me. it's the perfect amount. it gives me time to let it sink in, and it lets me recover.

Okay, so I wouldn't have had the realization I did without this post by @trulybizarr-io which is interesting, because I'm about to talk about Roman, Janus, and Patton. And their post has like almost no correlation to what I'm about to go on a tangent on, but my mind literally would not have thought about it if I hadn't seen this post first!

I think the way Patton, Janus, and Roman interacted was interesting. Kind of like a summary(or maybe closer to a metaphor?) of their relationship now?

Janus had been antagonizing the whole night, getting Patton what seemed like just more and more boxes to unravel. Then, right before it's Roman's turn to give Janus a present, Janus insults his ego again. Fed up with it, Roman had switched out the present he actually got Janus, to the box that he used to bitch slap the side(which was very entertaining). With that, Roman went off on Janus about his attitude and how he'd been coming across, bringing up his gift to Patton because it seemed that there was no actual gift! And right at that moment Patton finally gets to the actual gift, which is a card. He squeals and thanks Janus, feeling very emotional over it. And Roman looks so awkward, and probably feels very awkward as well because he didn't know what was actually there. But how could he be expected to think that Janus had gotten Patton an actual gift when everything pointed to there not being one.

And it just reminds me of the svs redux. Like, Janus distracting Patton, putting what seems to be(in the other sides opinions) nothing. And Patton gets distracted trying to figure out what's there. Getting so distracted that he doesn't pay attention to what's going on around him. Roman trying to defend the others, but especially Patton. Doing the best that he can, only that as soon as Roman says what is a reasonable conclusion based on the evidence that he has, Patton sees the gift. It's a lovely gift for sure, it seemed to have a lot of thought and emotion put into it. But it's not the gift that's the problem. It was how it was presented, and how Janus purposefully antagonized the others while Patton was distracted. And Patton then becomes friendly with Janus, while Roman's pushed away, feeling awkward. Because what he said had a point, but now it seems that the side he's trying to protect the most doesn't seem to acknowledge it(because they[Patton] haven't been paying attention to the world around them, just to what's been placed in front of them). And it's kind of bittersweet, because in this asides video everything seemed to end pretty well(which might be foreshadowing to how things could end up between everyone). But it also doesn't seem to really address Patton's tendency to block out everything else that's going on when he's focusing on what someone else puts in front of him.

So obviously I’m deep in this right now, hit one of my favorite episodes, the fully animated one Flirting with Social Anxiety and can I say I love this episode, I love Roman and Virgil interactions, they never disappoint.

It’s such a silly moment and if it was for Virgil’s reaction it could’ve totally played off as forgetting the work for something so describe it instead but no, boi just really forgot that irl stalking exists

Also I realized I created this whole post bc I thought I heard something specific but after looking through the transcript… I most likely misinterpreted it lmao

(The idea was Virgil says talking about the lies Thomas has given that day in attempt to not you know be a weirdo “will deceit continue to be the answer to all of your problems? Is that fair to him?” And I 100% took it as “is that fair to force Janus in that role after ignoring him for so long” but upon rewinding to the previously mentioned favorite scene I was going back to this part and realized… Nico… Virgil was most likely referring to Nico, was it fair to Nico to base everything off a lie lmao)

I do love the idea of both Virgil and Janus being very subtlety protective of each other (like how last post I mentioned that Janus seems passively aggressive in svs redux in regards to Thomas not taking care of himself and how that could potentially be in regards to Virgil ducking out but you know that’s all speculation) but only when the others not around tho,

it is desperately missing sanders sides hours (which is pretty much every hour for me) and i just rewatched my favorite sanders sides related video to date: “flirting with anxiety.” i have so many thoughts on this episode i thought i’d throw them out into the void that is tumblr. here is my unorganized list:

• the first thing that comes to mind when rewatching this episode is just how much roman and virgil have grown together. as a comparison, let’s use the only other video they had with each other. in “the dark side of disney,” roman was annoyed at virgil simply being there. he was in disbelief that virgil could even be a fan of something like disney. to quote roman, “disney movies are the embodiment of goodness and purity; something you would know nothing about.” throughout “flirting with anxiety,” just by the body language you can tell how comfortable the two are with each other. they bounce off of each other with ease, and make up a pretty entertaining matchmaking team, which is something roman once thought virgil couldn’t understand: love. both episodes are almost similar, though, in that both roman and virgil bring different sides to the table (pun not entirely intended). in “the dark side of disney,” roman and virgil discuss the different messages they see in disney movies; in “flirting with anxiety,” the two have very different approaches when it comes to flirting. their differences, which once made them argue with each other, now made them a team.

• as well as having their differences, we also see how much they have in common. when you think about it, there’s a lot; more specifically in what they like. bringing this back to “the dark side of disney,” it feels like they’ve come full circle from where they started, back when they discovered they could even have the same interests at all. the stickers on nico’s laptop stood out to me as sort of easter eggs to these kinds of moments in the past: the disney sticker (the dark side of disney), the paramore sticker (roman must have called virgil a nickname related to this somehow; also, emo music is a perfect combination), and the nightmare before christmas sticker (accepting anxiety: “you can’t have my sick nasty tim burton posters!”).

• this next note is the whole reason i wanted to make this post really: thomas’ monologue in the bathroom. on the surface of “flirting with anxiety,” there are no telling references to what had happened previously in the canon timeline: “putting others first.” this asides episode was sort of a breath of fresh air after the messy cliffhanger in the main series. now, i don’t know if this was intentional or not — but looking closer, this entire scene is full of insight into what roman specifically is feeling after the events of svs redux. let’s break it down:

1.) “look, i know this is awkward… and maybe not the best place to strike up a conversation. …i don’t really know what to say to you; i honestly don’t know what i’m doing at the mall today. i don’t know what i was looking for… i guess that answers my question: the mall is where you go if you want something, but you don’t know what it is because the mall has everything, right?” at the end of this quote, the frame shows roman looking in the mirror with an almost painful expression. he seems to realize how close those words hit to home: roman is lost. after everything that happened, roman has to be feeling like his world has turned upside down. he is unconsciously avoiding the issue by making thomas feel like he has to go to the mall. roman is the part of thomas that doesn’t know what he’s looking for.

2.) “i don’t know… ugh, i don’t know a lot about anything… least of all myself. …and i feel that the hardest when it comes to… knowing what i want.” once again, the frame is a cut to roman. it is such a punch to the gut, because this is exactly what caused the whole mess in the first place. think about it — who was the most torn on the wedding or the callback? it wasn’t patton or janus, logan or virgil: roman didn’t know what he wanted. roman has clearly followed patton’s lead since the beginning; he wanted to be the pure and good prince that he was, and patton was just that to him — pure and good. yet, he would do anything to achieve his dreams — thomas’ dreams. that included ditching a friend’s wedding, and friendship is something that roman holds as dear to his heart as patton does. roman was by far the most torn of all sides about this decision; that’s why it was so impactful that roman was the one to decide to go to the wedding. from the get go you could tell he didn’t want to, but at his core, he is a fundamentally good person; someone who is righteous for righteousness’ sake. this is a value that stems directly from his admiration for patton: so you can imagine how blindsided he was when patton had a change of heart in svs redux. to roman, this huge, personal sacrifice he made was for naught.

3.) “but i know that… i want to take a chance… and talk to you. i have to, because… i don’t know when i’m going to know what i want again… and i know that if i don’t act on these feelings right now, i’m… going to regret it.” the one thing roman is so sure that he wants, and always has wanted.. is love. there’s the placement of the panels again; when thomas says, “i don’t know when i’m going to know what i want again,” the panel has roman in frame. it’s almost as if that is what roman himself is thinking — finally, he has a chance to get something he knows he wants, and it isn’t out of reach. but then after that, when thomas says, “and i know that if i don’t act on these feelings right now, i’m… going to regret it,” it is virgil in frame the entire time. virgil’s feelings on the whole svs redux matter are entirely up to fan interpretation — he wasn’t present at all. i at least can provide evidence as to what i think he is feeling with this frame — virgil knows how much roman regrets going to that wedding. as we know, virgil fervently sided with patton in “selfishness v. selflessness.” now, i don’t think it’s because he truly believes it to be the right decision; he’s anxiety. he was the part of thomas that irrationally worried that if he didn’t show up to his friends’ wedding, thomas would lose them forever. plus, virgil is a follower, not a leader; he states as such in “fitting in.” before, as a dark side, he followed janus; now, he has latched on to someone else: patton. to him, not agreeing with patton meant agreeing with janus; you can imagine his feelings on that. so, maybe virgil regrets his own stance on the case — moral of the story, virgil is tired of regrets. he knows how horrible they are first hand, being anxiety and all; and i like to think he’d rather not put roman through that any more if he can help it. at this moment, virgil knows he has to do something to make this thing happen — which later turns out to be virgil taking that leap of faith, and pushing thomas back to nico.

• don’t worry, i’m going to touch on where i just left off; but, i’d like to bring up another note that made me want to do this. it is honestly very hard not to notice that throughout the entire episode, roman and virgil never fail to bring one thing up: lies. they scold thomas for lying and even call him a liar multiple times. when they exit the bathroom, the both of them are adamant that if they are to go forward, the basis of a potential relationship cannot be deceit. it is so obvious that roman and virgil are the two sides who hold the most disdain for janus; janus is a reminder of what they have failed to do. for virgil, janus was a part of his life that he regrets because of how he mistreated thomas and the group. for roman, he wanted exactly what janus wanted as well: to go to the callback. janus proved that thomas could’ve and should’ve gone to the callback, something that roman wasn’t able to do.

• before going into the most prinxiety part of this post, i’d lastly like to expand on nico’s song idea: “i think i like the idea of someone’s life, or an aspect of of their life feeling like… a trash bin. and the waste keeps piling up… and piling up… until it inevitably… spills out into the rest of their life.” funnily enough, nico apologizes if it hit to close to home, and thomas adds that it’s true: his life is full of wasted opportunities. this once again feels like a reference to the callback. the entire explanation, though, feels like foreshadowing to the future of sanders sides. as i’ve discussed, there is clearly a divide among the sides; the biggest one they’ve ever had. yet, there lacks a resolution to the issue at the moment. it seems that all of it will continue to pile up until the repression of their glaring problem spills out into thomas’ life.

• i’d argue this is the most important scene in this episode: virgil pushing thomas. the look of dejection on roman’s face as nico walks away is a reminder that virgil is indeed tired of regrets. at that moment, i don’t think there was a single other reason why he did what he did than virgil’s desperate need to see roman happy again. whether you ship it or not, it is clear how much these two care for each other, especially in their last interaction. virgil is constantly surprising roman — i like to think that’s why he started to like him so much. the moment that virgil pushed thomas was probably one of the most surprising things roman has ever seen from him, though. a very, very wonderful surprise. you can just tell how much admiration roman has after virgil has done this just by the one word he uses: bravery. let’s take this back to “fitting in.” roman is very clearly protective of his house and its noble traits, and bravery is one of the most important ones of all for a gryffindor. bravery is what roman is all about; when roman calls virgil brave, it is one of the biggest compliments he could give someone. then you can just feel it in your bones the warm affection behind “shut up, emo,” and its subsequent shoulder touch. it showcases, once again, a huge contrast in how they use to behave with one another — there is so much fondness and respect that wasn’t there before. this is honestly one of (if not the most) heartfelt scene in the series.

After the whole SVS Redux situation, Roman was feeling lonely and very unheroic. Patton chose Janus over him, and now he was no longer Thomas’ hero. The creative side fled to the imagination to be alone for a while, and the imagination (having somewhat of a mind of its own) could sense his distress and decided to give him a gift to cheer him up. When Roman arrived at his castle and entered his room, he found a baby lying on his bed, wrapped up in a reddish-pink blanket with a crown design on it. Next to the baby was a note that read “Here’s someone to keep you company and for you to be a hero for. Take care of her” -The Imagination. Roman stared at the note in surprise for a bit before carefully picking up the baby girl. She was sleeping, so he couldn’t see what color her eyes were. She had red hair, a different shade from Roman’s. Roman found himself smiling at the baby. This was now his daughter, and he’d do his best to be her hero. But first he should probably name her. Roman wanted the name to be meaningful, so he decided on Aisling because she was born from dreams/imagination.

you know what? ao3 is down and my wips are silently judging me so I'm gonna talk about Patton Sanders and my autistic headcanon for him

yep-

within the fander community, from what I've seen, Logan being autistic is the most common of the headcanons, Remus probably second, which, like, fair. ok? fair.

they both get overstimulated in social situations but Remus gets Louder and Logan shuts down, i see you, ok? I see Logan having comfort objects and Remus having vocal stims I see you!! and i do love these headcanons HOWEVER

let me explain, hear me out, yada yada, let's fucking go-

if we take the time to closely examine Patton and his responses to social situations (which I did for the most part), there are a Lot of things to take into consideration with this headcanon. for the sake of why not, I am going to be focusing on my strongest arguments i guess? the events in Moving On, SVS, and SVS Redux.

Moving On displays Patton's almost desperation to preserve some of Thomas' fondest memories, to find comfort in the past instead of confronting the present.

oh, what's that? fear of change? fucking yes, write that down write that down !

additionally, going off of the trolley track I just set for myself, there are many, many moments in the series where jokes fly over Patton's head, dismissed because he's the most "innocent" side. yeah, no. more recent events have proved that Patton's emotional knowledge is like through the roof, and he may be silly goofy on purpose sometimes but I'm willing to bet you the exact 26 cents in my jeans pocket that it's the Autism (headcanon) and that the jokes are flying over his head, in a similar way to Logan

social cues are a motherfucker and patton has never agreed to conform to them literally ever, shouting things out in the middle of episodes, saying things that don't make sense to the others but make sense in his brain, etc.

i hate that I don't have specific examples but if you filled in my ramble with specific examples, good!!! you understand what I'm getting at and are helping prove my point, so thanks for that buddy!

ok fuck finally, the other main point I wanted to touch on was Patton's emotional responses in SVS and the Redux. mainly the fact that he's trying so desperately to figure out the morals of this situation, but that is nearly impossible when you're stuck in black-and-white thinking, like he and yeah ok also the other sides too i guess, are. another point towards my goal

basically, the point was, branch out! after I post this I'm gonna stare at a wip that features Patton with the same overwhelming sensory issues I have experienced and continue to experience, along with a moral dilemma also based on myself, as a treat.
