So, I saw tags asking at what resolution it stops being pixel art and starts being a regular painting/digital art. Which is actually an interesting question! Even cutting out the "what resolution" part and just ask the "when does it stop being pixel art?"

And, well, generally it wouldn't for a few reasons!

First is DPI. Essentially how many pixels per inch of the resolution. I suspect the amazing space elevator work has high resolution but low pixels per inch as you just have to start zooming in a little bit to realize its pixel art. Pixel art tends to be 1:1 with the resolution pixel wise meanwhile a digital painting will typically use 300 pixels per inch thus faaaaar more pixels for the resolution resulting in smoother curves and more details.

Which gets into "what IS pixel art?"

I would argue its an evolution of impressionism, a classic western artform that is characterized by visible brush strokes that may not make sense up close but once you stand a few feet back it does. Pixel art is similar only instead of brush strokes, it's, well, pixels. The blockiness of pixel art tends to remain visible, and is intentional. You can see much of the intention in placement.

So. The second reason its still pixel art despite the resolution is once you look a little bit more closely, not even by much, you see the brush strokes. The blocky indents in the buildings, and how diagonal lines aren't as straight as we expect but are made up of little squares. You start to see some of the decisions made.

There's other reasons too, but the ones I can think of at the top of my head involve technical details and process.

And fuck yeah, that's such a cool work of art.

I think people should be allowed to sleep in the same bed in a non sexual and non romantic way. I think cuddles can happen non sexually and non romantically. I think most acts of affection are non sexual and non romantic until you make it sexual or romantic (other than the obvious things like actual sex is sexual)

My take is that if you’re going to break up a happy healthy committed straight ship to make room for a gay one (or vice versa, but lbr the former happens more often in fandom) then you HAVE to keep the characters’ insanity for each other intact. Like ok yes sure we can handwave “it was a different time and we were younger and now that things are settled it’s for the best that we split” sure whatever BUT! I will not accept these guys becoming ambivalent to each other. You MUST maintain the fact that they would absolutely kill someone if the other asks. if you take away the romantic attraction then the years of history and emotion remain and now instead of kissing each other the blorbos just have to be really intense about their ex’s health and safety instead.

And I'm just saying. If the only visible way to the establishment is via steep stairs (down or up) and there's no big and obvious sign pointing to an easy to find and use entrance?

That "All are welcome" pride sign feels all the more sardonic and fake. Particularly by queer disabled people.

Something that really sucks about being disabled is places say that they’re accessible but they aren’t.

I’ve been to places that claim to be accessible where

the ramp’s too steep

there are steps they didn’t mention because “it’s only two or three”

the doorways are too small

there aren’t any elevators to the top floor

the floor is too rough to easily push on

exhibits are displayed in ways that are impossible to see from a wheelchair

the doors don’t have a push button

tables/exhibits are put way too close together

the surrounding paths have no curbs

Without those things, it isn’t accessible. You can’t put a sloped piece of metal on your doorway and call that wheelchair friendly.
