Synopsis: Blissfully waking within the arms of your lover, you are both struck with the thoughts of how precious you have become to one another. Whispering confessions of adoration to one another while the other slumbers, you are both completely overcome with such deep devotion.

Notes: @carrotsunshine wanted a lovestruck Crocodile to read when she finished work today. I had no choice, my hands were bound and I stayed up past midnight again getting it done. While Croco is not one of the regular characters to write for, I did find myself falling for him a little in this fic. @since-im-already-here suggested the song, because smol-snail is a queen. Falling asleep, content within the arms of a lover is a luxury Sir Crocodile never knew he could afford. Although extremely wealthy, he deemed himself unworthy of such an exuberant opulence. For all his shortcomings in his youth, clawing with his right hand while grappling with his left hook to be within the lap of comfort all Berry could buy: this small slice of the heavens he carved for himself with you was priceless.

It was not so dissimilar for you. You had never known a love as passionate, as heated, nor as deep a connection as the one you shared with Sir Crocodile. He was your world, and you were his. These few moments together, before the world drew first breath and the symphony of birdsong would sing to welcome the dawn, you lay in complete syncronancy.

Your heartbeats would thump to the same rhythm, your lungs extend as you drew breath in the same soothing inhale before softly exhaling in unison. If one of you shifted to rotate, splayed fingertips would search in yearning to find each other's warmth within the night: shifting blankets to adjust the heat for one another accordingly.

If you fell out of rhythm together, after a night of sound, blissful slumber, and one of you woke first: the other would gaze fondly at the lover they had taken.

When Sir Crocodile awoke first, his right hand would rise from its position against your hip, slowly raking his fingers delicately along your skin. His calloused hand was coarse and rough, but his fingers were always soft and gentle for you.

Finally, as his fingers reach your shoulders, he massages your shoulder tenderly before raking his forearm over your body and tucking your slumbering form firmly secured against his chest. His eyes were half-hooded, gazing with the softest flutter of his lengthy eyelashes down at you.

“You are so precious to me, my moon,” he whispered into your hair, pressing a tender kiss softly against your hair, “A bright light that guides me through such horrors within my darkened past.” You barely stir within your sleep, unaware such deep, devoted confessions were being freely gifted from the smiling lips of your lover.

“You are the blood that swells my heart,” his breath tickled your temple as his scarred cheek nuzzled against the crown of your head, “It would be too simple a thing to kill for you, as it would be to die for you.”

Unconsciously, your body began to burrow into his chest within your slumber. A soft moan expelled itself from between your lips as you reveled in the contact of your bare skin against his own. His final confession was whispered like a prayer into your ear.

“You command my very soul, my spirit is yours to do with what you will,” he smiled as he felt you stirring within his arms, “Should you toy with me, torture me, or choose to trust me: either way, I am yours, and I will live my life for you.”

Upon hearing his words, your immediate response upon waking was to press a kiss within the hollow flesh of his jugular notch. His breath hitched, his eyes fluttering shut as a rumbled groan in bliss swelled within his chest.

“As I am yours, my beautiful Crocodile.”

Should you find yourself to be the first to rise, your breath would hitch as your eyes met with his face. Within his slumber, he managed to break away from your embrace. Lying on his back, his hair splayed down over his face, you notice the deep furrow of his brows and the soft shudder of a snarl.

Softly and cautiously, you draw up your hands over his broad chest to hover over his face. The bright lightning-sheen of his healed scar illuminated within the soft light of the morning. You slowly lean over him, your chest lying flush against his as you straddle his waist.

You splay your forearms over his chest, elbows barely reaching the shoulders of the large man as you lay your ear flush against his chest. The rapid beat of his heart began to slow, a deep, sleepy inhale of his breath sucked in through his lips and departed softly through his nose.

“You are the most precious thing to me, my beautiful Crocodile,” you confessed your deep devotion into his chest, “No gold, jewels, nor Berry could ever meet you as equal.”

Sweeping your cheek away from his chest, you brushed your nose against his chest before beginning a trail of soft and lazy kisses over his pectorals. For each kiss you planted, a confession was whispered into his skin.

“You are the greatest man I have ever known,” you pressed a deep kiss against his clavicle bone, “Your fierce devotion to me is only outmatched by my own to you.”

The swell of his chest beneath your body indicated he was beginning to stir within his deepest rest. He sighed as he raised his right arm to unconsciously pull you closer into his chest. You elevated your chin to gaze up into his dark, violet eyes that had barely split apart between the curtain of his eyelashes.

“You are my closest confidant, my most ferocious protector,” you pressed a lengthy kiss against his jaw before brushing the hair that shrouded his face from full view, “You are all mine.” His eyes were sleepily gazing down at you, feeling the shift of your body flush against his own.

“As you are all mine.”

But should you find yourselves back within that perfect synchrony, on very rare occasions, your eyelashes would flutter as the world around faded into view. The world, as both of you knew it within your souls, was within the arms of one another. The only world that mattered to you both in those fleeting moments, before obligation and commitments called to you; was only, and always, each other.

As your joint eyelids rose together, your glassy orbs found their peace within each others' gaze. You were always the first to smile, where he was always the first to reach out to pull your body against his.

It was always up for debate as to who uttered those sacred words first. The three sought after and holy words that bound you together as one life, one body, one heart, and one soul. Those simple words that had the most mighty and hardened soldiers stutter and stumble over them in their fluster.

Immediately meeting with your smiling lips, Sir Crocodile swooped down and captured them beneath his own. Always slow, the angle of his jaw would alternate with his chin extending down and rotating to depict his heated passion. The bridge of his nose brushed against your own, the rumble of his moan expelled within your mouth as yours fled into his.

Parting your lips, you sought out more contact with your body pressed firmly against your passionate lover. You hooked your arms over his neck as he braced his right arm and left forearm around your waist.

He rolled you over his chest, before using the propulsion of the swinging motion of your body to pin you beneath him. You squealed into his mouth in shocked joy, his lips never breaking their deep contact against your own. With your lover now between your legs, you clawed at his shoulders to tug him closer.

The deep furrow of his brow, and sharp inhale of breath through his nose, had you enchanted by his enthusiastic welcome to commence the day. Almost begrudgingly, he finally split contact away from your lips to smile down at your position beneath him.

Taking a moment to silently acknowledge each other, you slowly laced your hands within the ink-black strands at the back of his head just as he leaned down to press his forehead against your own. Your whispers were almost inaudible, this confession being so scared you both dare not present it to undesirable ears.

This confession was just meant for only each other, your lips brushing briefly as you both relayed your devotion in perfect, unified symphony.

“I love you.”

PJO/HOO/TOA CHARACTERS AND WHAT THEIR ROMAN EMPIRES WOULD HAVE BEEN::::::

Annabeth- Most certainly knew the entire lore of WWE Raw and Smackdown when she was about 8-11. Wanted siblings to tackle so bad.

Percy- The Bermuda Triangle. HOURS spent genuinely sweating about the thought of sea monsters and black holes in the ocean which could maybe get him.

Grover- Mythology. Lore. Everything he could find with amazing world-building and plot points. Certainly kept comparing Greek myths to Norse/Aztec myths and yelling "OH MY GOSH THEY'RE SYNCRONIZED".

Nico- THE OLYMPIC GAMES. Watching gymnastics and wincing everytime it looks like they're gonna fall. Picking random swimmers and betting on who would get a higher position with his sister.

Jason- Honestly, Jason would have DEVOURED the Percy Jackson series. Explains to everyone how Rick Riordan is actually a hidden gem and how he's a crossbreed of Percy and Grovwr.

Piper- OMFG FANFICTION. A devoted fanfiction.net reader until she discovers wattpad and that resets her brain chemistry. Avid reader but also extremely talented AO3 writer. On the Hall of fame of Johnlock writers.

Frank- Penguins. Knew everything about penguins from their feeding habits to their neurological functions. Tried to be a penguin- failed; tried to swim to the south pole to be with penguins- ongoing attempt.

Hazel- Anime. If she and Nico grew up together they would scream the One Piece theme songs at the top of their lungs everyday and randomly whisper the words "Banana Fish" to each other to rekindle the pain.

Lester- The biggest astrology nerd you could ever find. Would immediately explain how the angle of Saturn from the earth is causing your munchies and write a thesis on why scorpios are actually the cause of all the world's problems.

Leo- Cars. I lied. Power fucking rangers. Every single series, every single version; ate it up, bought a power rangers bottle and set the Power Rangers Samurai theme song as his alarm tune.

I’m not sure if you’ve read the books but the way you talk about the kokichi siblings reminds me a bit of the madarai brothers from danganronpa 0

(So I know this is Danganronpa but, what is WITH this appearance?! They even acknowledge his weird build as an... actual thing, in text, not just image, are they going to explain why he looks so distorted and animalistic?! That sounds like a story in of itself...)

...Okay, months after this ask was stashed in drafts, I have actually read DR0 in its entirety and I see what you mean now! That syncronicity, I'm assuming it's like a monozygotic trait in DR verse or something. This just makes the idea of twin-talents research more curious if superpowered octuplets are running around, moreso if their bodies have some kind of... thing going on with them, too.

That's not the only thing interesting about the Madarai either, but the position in the plot to antagonise the amnesiac mastermind is giving me the feeling of how Ouma behaves - though much more passive-aggressively - with Shuichi. It's especially interesting how involved (general) you are with Ryoko before she ends up triggering her old self again, it's the sort of energy that would parallel with Shuichi's 'relatability factor' as a similarly horrible trap for the reader

Don’t think Lewis and Shakira are actually “dating”, if only they might be hooking up and that’s fine (they are in very different places in life right now).

I kind of feel (coupled with that on the nose latina comment Lewis made couple days ago) that it seems more like a PR move/association that is a win-win for them both (Shakira is freshly divorced and the divorce in itself was pretty nasty, so showing herself with attractive, successful -younger and I mention it with purpose- men is a plus for her), and same goes for Lewis hanging out with successful, attractive women.

Might be a hookup with a positive PR twist for them, but I am always a bit on the fence with Lewis because of a specific suspect that I have and won’t ever name until he does, but in any case, it’s only positives for them right now, and is definitely better than hanging out with some other people that were around his side of the garage yesterday…

On a side note, don’t think that George expected to sctually go out party with Lewis or something. Like you stated various times, they seem to lead separate lives outside work, which is probably only healthy for them. But they seem to have grown a lott closer recently, body language is quite telling, and also Lewis seems not as cagey as he was last year to show he actually -seems to- likes George, which is pretty clear if you look at how they behave around each other (syncronicity, mirroring poses, etc).

Hopefully it will last in time, but what I liked the most was Lewis underlining how they are the best drivers pairing on the grid, which speaks volumes on how he sees George talent speaking.

There could be no bigger praise coming from him and it’s genuine because he coupled it with a (deserved) dig at Mercedes’ pit wall screwing them during quali.

Again, I think it’s less than a month since they first got linked to each other so I’d be very shocked if they were anything more than just… testing the waters at most right now?

Lewis is very careful about who he gets spotted and seen with and it’s very interesting who actually gets seen with him and who is linked to him but never openly photographed with him… The fact she went to the paddock at the height of rumours and there were photos of them together doesn’t feel like an accident. The last girl he was genuinely spotted with out of choice was Ella Balinska and I don’t think anyone ever really spoke about the fact they might be dating, so I think the fact it’s Shakira is fuelling some of the hype as well.

I am joking about George expecting to go out with Lewis, but he did seem very enthusiastic at the suggestion and literally jumped in to accept like an excitable puppy, which was just hilarious 😆

I think they do have different interests but I think Lewis still appreciates George and probably sees the similarities between them. I know he was still 31 during the Nico stuff but he was still quite immature then and has somewhat grown since. I think like George has said, they’re at different points in their careers so there’s no immediate threat even if they both want the same thing at the same time right now.

They are the best driver lineup on the grid and it shows. Planet Brubeck Clock

Assignment: Make a "clock for aliens" using processing.exe

Imagine a planet that runs on brubeck time. That's right, quintuples baby. I wanted to make a sequencer animation vaugely based on the quartet instrumentation in "Take Five". First I took a look at the sheet music for each part and jotted down how many hits were in each bar for each instrument.

Note that I decided to focus only on the hihat for the drums because you could build a whole other program solely on sequencing the entire drum kit. I wrote down five bars here even though that's more than the proper measure... I fixed this later in the program.

Okay, time to get to coding work. First I started out making a nice grid & color scheme.

Nested "for" loops, we love em.

Each bar I would have representing an instrument, with the top bar representing the measure. I wanted rectangles to appear that would syncronize with the song (as best as I could without proper, jazzy delays). First I had to make some rectangles.

Werk!!

Each rectangle is based off the smaller rectangles in the original grid, henve the rectangle widths being things like 15 * rectW, where rectW is width (of the window) / 60.

Now came the tricky part, which was making multiple rectangles for each bar that would blink across the screen in time with the music.

The solution to making multiple rectangles all the way across was another for loop. I understood that to make each rectangle appear and then fade out, I would have to draw the background OVER each rectangle over and over again with an alpha channel creating the fade effect; hence, a nested for loop with the code for the background I wrote first.

The trickiest part was figuring out the timing; when I first wrote the for loop all the rectangles would activate and fade out at the same time. I realized I needed to index each rectangle so I could give them each their own start time as well as a flexible "fade duration" that would allow me to finesse the timing of each loop as much as possible. I thought about using millis() for my timekeeping factors but decided not to overcomplicate things and just stick with frameCount. I bet using millis() and maybe even seconds() might help create more jazzy patterns but... that's hard.

After perfecting the code for the first row(representing four measures, since it is 5 beats over 4 bars, after all), I moved on to the second row.

Figuring out how to get the rectangles to fade was the trickiest part, so once that was done it was just a matter of personalizing each row and changing the overall visual style. Writing each row as its own function seemed the easiest way to go to stay organized rather than dumping all the code in the draw() function. I decided to show the grid in the end because I thought it gave the program a more analog look.

The only variables I had to play with when creating each function were the y-position and the width of the rectangles, and the fadeDuration and delayBetweenRectangles to get the timing right, the rest of the function (the opacity and the background) working across all functions.

Et voila! My Brubeck Clock. Again, with some extra finessing with the time functions, I bet I could make each rectangle sync up with each note played on the saxaphone, for example. However I wouldn't really know where to begin or end with trying to mathmetize jazz music. Math rock, maybe....

The last function I wanted to deploy was one where it would save a picture of the screen upon click. As we look at the hands of a clock to tell our time, on Planet Bruebeck, the position of each beat in the five bars is how they tell their time. Oh look, it's 2nd Measure, C7, D12, A#, Closed Hat.... o'clock!

Tried to upload it to openprocessing, a website that seems to hate me because I can never get my animations to show up right. However, if you take the code from there and pop it in processing yourself, it should work swimmingly! Try watching with Take Five on... it's pretty close, I think.

Risk of Genius

I assume there are people who are epic masters. I assume there's a high degree of correlation in high income, high intelligence, high status, general poteneial…

In order to become one of those I feel I need to learn so much: math, languages, coding… In order to become this I could use: 1) visualization and manifestation 2) you are the sum of the 5 people around you (operant syncronizing) 3) put yourself in those situations (sign up/positioning) 4) classes, reading, courses (education)

One needs to start somewhere. Consistency and practice makes perfect. I could hone in on one skill's usage to proove a sustainable income stream and train in my free time (get an expert job). I could sacrofice all my money and trade it for time to level up these skills (scrape).

Taking loans to go to school you take a risk assuming you'll make more with a degree to at some point surpass how much you would be making/saving just working out of high school. By choosing a scrape or startup path, I take on even more risk: the time I have acrewing student loan interest in persuit of high risk high reward will at one point be superior to getting a job out of school to pay back loans and time. Every time I take on higher risk, my skill and performance needs to hit higher and higher on the outliers of the bell curve. And the higher I shoot, the exponentially more effort and difficulty I need face according to the pareto principal.

Assuming an extension of this, having 99 percentile performance (intelligence?) will not result in significant gains in the same game. Thus the best path isn't taking on higher risk and higher reward aiming to become a genius and beat all odds, but to find the most sure and rewarding path. Different means have different benefits and degrees of risk.

But is this true? 99% of the wealth falls in 1% of the population, is their intelligence or performance their big differentiator? It's probably the intelligence and performance of their actor-network (network, ajacent knowledge and skills, warm connections, tools, IP, domain specific secrets, employees, history, brand).

The common practice of abandoning classes not directly related to your major may be a short term handicap to one who wants their cumulative knowledge to be their powerful foundation. But is it worth it to learn all these tools? A good artisan never blames the tools. Would you rather know 10,000 kicks, or practice one kick 10,000 times? Math, language, world experience, is an important G factor. But will investment in these operant resources result in a significant multplyer?

I need to build my capacity, and build my ecosystem around me.

The masters I look up to: Chris Do, Blair Enns… they are not neccisarily masters based on merit but on marketing. They've built castles around their identity by telling narratives of them again and again, inspiring more and more people to internalize their narrative.

It's the long game. I am concerned blueprint isn't doing well while my friends have 1 year of work experience. After 5 years this could be a compeltely different story, as I build business skills, marketing skills, personal development skills, learning skills, negotiation, to perform in different ways in new environments. And way beyond me as an individual node: my ecosystem/actor-network will take lots of time to mature.

I should also be looking to compound everything I can in my environment (ex. classes and relationships)!
