Okay! These took a bit, but here’s the concept art of the main cast of the Poppy Playtime AU I’m working on! I love the characters in Poppy Playtime, but I’ve personal gripes with the game’s writing, so yay for fanfic! I really want to make this into a comic series cause I think it’ll be fun! I’ll make the villains in another post, but right now it’s the main group.

Info and pics below!

So, instead of using children, (not a fan of that trope in general), the toys were brought to life artificially through the poppy flowers, similar to how homunculi are brought to life through the Philosopher’s stone. They were created as free labor and spectacle for the factory and varied in levels of intelligence, (the big body mascots are at adult human intelligence, while the Littles are on par with kids. The less humanoid mascots, like Yarnaby or the dinosaur toys, are more like animals). Unfortunately, the factory keeps an iron grip on the toys and treats them as less than.

The Prototype was the first successful being brought to life, and all experiments were done first through the Prototype. After years of mistreatment, the Prototype and his allies attacked the Playtime Co. staff, leading to many deaths. Any remaining toys, regardless if they were involved in the attack, were sealed away and the factory was abandoned.

Cut to when the story starts. A human, Maddie, manages to break into the factory looking for any scrap to sell. She finds herself caught in the middle of a conflict between the Prototype, the Doctor, (more on him later), and the last remaining toys, led by Poppy.

Maddie: The young woman who breaks into the factory. Has a plethora of tools on her for safe exploration.

Poppy: Leader of the remaining toys. Travels mainly through the vents and uses a pellet gun to snipe enemies. Is gone a lot.

Doey: Protector of Safe Haven. Though Poppy is technically the leader, Doey has been juggling most of the day to day, making sure Safe Haven is supplied and safe. Keeps fists wrapped for sturdier hits.

Kissy: Protector of Safe Haven. Keeps spirits up and provides comfort. Uses a talk box to communicate, though can only do one word at a time. Tougher than she looks.

DogDay and Catnap: The last of the mascot Smiling Critters. DogDay is the main medic of Safe Haven. He also is the main caretaker for CatNap, who was severely injured in a previous altercation. CatNap keeps a ventilator on to protect others from his red smoke. Will only deploy it when needed as it is physically taxing on him.

The mascots are in charge of the care of the remaining Littles

THE SMILING CRITTERS INFO FOR THE DECADE OF JOY AU

DOGDAY is the Optimistic, assertive and brave leader of the smiling critters. He works at the front desk of playtime Co directly in front of the entrance. He greets visitors with a warm smile and gives them a good tour of the factory! He doesn’t dare allow them to go down to the lower levels even if they’re looking to adopt an orphan. In that case, he’ll show them all the options they have for a new child on the computers! When there are no visitors, he’s taking phone calls and reporting important information back to Poppy and the other leaders(Huggy, Mommy, Catnap, Doey).

Dogday will go and check up on the other smiling critters when he is done with his work, making sure they’re doing their jobs correctly and if they’re all doing well. He won’t check up on Catnap due to some issues between the two of them and the only time they WILL meet is during important meetings.

Dogday has a bit of trouble walking properly due to an incident that happened between him, Catnap and The Prototype. The incident resulted in his legs being broken. He doesn’t like anything that the Prototype does and sometimes does things against the Prototype’s wishes. Luckily, he’s convinced Poppy, Kissy, the other smiling critters and Doey to not snitch if they ever catch him.

PICKY PIGGY is the Encouraging, Playful and slightly gluttonous member of the smiling critters. She is a taste tester who is always going to be found in the kitchen, taste testing the food and sometimes even cooking it herself. She’ll often mix different dishes to see what would be best for the children and makes sure stuff if safe to eat.

She will also encourage other toys to eat more and will frequently remind them that they don’t have to ask for permission to eat certain foods due to them not being experiments anymore. Sometimes she will even make small samples and pass it around to the other toys. If she doesn’t eat it herself that is.

Picky unfortunately has a disorder that causes her to eat things that she really isn’t supposed to. Due to this, she’s often around other toys to catch her incase she begins to eat things that she can’t.

BOBBY BEARHUG is the loving, appreciative and generous member of the smiling critters. She is a caretaker and psychologist who comforts distressed orphans and attempts to break up any fights.

She attempts to find the cause to most children’s issues and fix them. She will also attempt to comfort other toys if they are really feeling bad and will often end up giving them advice.

She doesn’t try to move around all too much due to a problem in her legs that makes them bend awkwardly and she often uses crutches to get around. Whenever she needs something, she’ll usually look for Missy due to her being one of the nicer caretaker toys.

Due to being mute, Bobby instead writes all her thoughts and ideas down on paper. This helps with kids who are nervous with talking about their problems and issues out loud.

BUBBA BUBBAPHANT is the intelligent, quick thinking and critical member of the smiling critters. While he works, engineering and occasionally giving Catnap instructions for the Bigger Bodies, he’s also planning for any future events.

He’s called by Catnap when he needs help with a certain experiment or by CatBee when she needs help fixing pipes or holes in the walls. He doesn’t enjoy helping Catnap with making some of the bigger bodies but does so anyways to avoid being taken by The Prototype. He will also sometimes go down to Home Sweet Home to help with teaching incase one of the teachers is feeling under the weather, which he enjoys doing.

Due to his long trunk, he has a difficult time breathing and needs an asthma pump. This doesn’t weaken him however as sometimes he does twice as much work as the other toys.

KICKEN CHICKEN is the confident, laid-back and loyal member of the smiling critters. He works in the security department as a guard. He patrols the hallways, looking out for any intruders or anything that seems to be out of place. If he does find something strange, he immediately reports it back to the other toys of the security department and goes looking for the intruder.

He doesn’t like to eat any intruders as he thinks they taste disgusting and he finds it inhumane. If alone, he instead lets them leave the factory with a harsh warning. If not alone, he’ll just give them up to Huggy, Boxy or whoever else is there for them to either eat or take back to The Prototype.

Sometimes if he doesn’t feel like working, he’ll instead have Boxy or Pianosaurous take his place and will either head down to Home Sweet Home to play and interact with the Orphans or will go and hang out with one of the smiling critters or other toys with his favorites being Hoppy and Bubba.

HOPPY HOPSCOTCH is the energetic, enthusiastic and impatient member of the smiling critters. She is a messenger who gets news from one toy and gives it to another. She will also deliver supplies and food to other toys alongside Barry. If someone needs to know something, they’ll immediately go to Hoppy as she is the one who is given most, if not all of the news.

Due to Hoppy’s long legs, she is able to run from one side of the factory to the next in 30 minutes or less. She often gets news from either one of the Leaders or Bubba and goes out of her way to quickly get it to whoever needs it. Sometimes if Poppy or The Prototype gives her something to message to another toy, she’ll tell Bubba and have him get it to who needs it, especially if she can’t get there in time.

Sometimes when she gets to have a break, she goes to rest her legs or grab a snack before she’s called to deliver another message.

CRAFTYCORN is the observant, creative and shy member of the smiling critters. She is an entertainer at home sweet home and works to get the children socializing with each other.

She makes sure to keep a close eye on any children that she suspects may be drawing inappropriate or concerning things. When she does spot things like this, she Immediately sends them to Bobby in an attempt to find out why they are drawing such stuff and even to get their mental and emotional health back up.

Due to a few incidents that happened in the past which involved Crafty being harassed by curious children, Crafty doesn’t enjoy being touched and will often back away if someone attempts to touch her without asking first. The incidents mostly included children grabbing onto her and breaking her stitching, resulting in repeated visits to the clinic.

CATNAP is the Mysterious, obedient and eerie member of the smiling critters and lead scientist. He is almost always down in the labs making more experiments from the prototype’s orders.

Due to his work, he often forgets to eat. Because of this, the mini smiling critters will frequently go up to the higher floors to bring food and sometimes supplies back down to him.

Catnap does not like being watched while he works due to it causing distractions which often results in failed experiments. He either brings the failed experiments down to the deepest level of Playtime Co and sews them onto Leith or he gives them up to the Prototype as an offering and apology for failing to create another experiment.

When he isn’t working, he is either emptying out the hallways with his poppy gas or worshipping the prototype.

He often keeps a close eye on any toy who he believes may be going against the Prototype’s orders and wishes. If he DOES find someone who is rebelling, he immediately reports it back to Poppy but on rare occasions, he will go straight to the Prototype to see what he wants to do with the rouge. Last time something like this happened was an incident between Catnap, The Prototype and Dogday which resulted in Dogday being unable to walk properly and often stumbling when he attempted to do so.

Mrs Angel Star ref sheet (redesign) - poppy playtime OC/AU

Alice's new look is she 10.5 taller than the wuggies and a hybrid wuggy which she has four arms that she can carry any object and even the toys, plus she also had a pouch which resembles a kangaroo's pouch and she carries the rest of the toys including her human daughter, abby (or Abigail which was her full name), and also the color of her mouth and blood is cyan blue

Mrs Angel Star was the caretaker of safe haven, along with the toys and her allies kissy missy, doey the doughman, missy mittens and Rosalyn (female player), however she wasn't sure if she can trust poppy to help stop the prototype, but one of her allies was dogday, who was diseased and controlled as a puppet by the ruined critters in the playhouse, when she became defensive, she protects the toys and attacks any enemies who tries to get in to safe haven

Poppy Playtime swap AU where the roles are swapped

The Poppy team (Poppy, Kissy, Dogday, ect.) are the "bad guys" and team Prototype (Prototype, Huggy, Catnap, ect.) are the "good guys".

Playtime made Poppy, a small doll for kids, mostly girls. She is the same as she is in the game, human like and interactive. The only part different is that she isn't made from a human. She is instead just a regular doll that is really human like. After this, Harley saw potential since the doll was so popular... Toys, animatronics that could BE like human kids, thus can bond more with them, what can better than that for a kid's toy factory?

The BBI (Bigger Bodies Initiative) are actually good in this, creating huge plushie like animatronics to play their own role in the factory. Huggy is the guide, Mommy is the caretaker, the Smiling Critters are the playmates, ect ect. They all have a purpose (other than Prototype since he was supposed to be the guide, but was a failed experiment). But, Poppy, the original, started to question everything.

Why were they so much like kids? They felt so human... TOO human. She doubted if she was just a toy. The similarities were too much, too many. She then came to the conclusion that they ARE children. What else could it be? They were too similar, there had to be a connection! She told others her theory, and some agreed, starting to doubt their creators and in fact hate them, while others disagreed and just said that they were toys made for children. But she didn't give up.

Then one day, they struck. They started killing workers, higher ups, and even parents. Yet because they believed they were children, they left the kids unharmed. In fact, some lead them to the orphanage where they then locked them in there to keep them "safe". The others saw this and tried reasoning with them, but to no avail. They wouldn't listen over their beliefs. This resulted in thousands deaths, which then caused the factory to be shut down.

Years later, we, the player, come back after hearing about what happened. We left due since it was mostly just something to make us money, but we didn't care that much about the kids. But after we heard that shit happened in there, we were curious and explored.

In this, Huggy is a guide for us instead of trying to kill us. He's the Poppy of this AU. He even warns us about her, saying she went crazy and started believing these lies and false truths. She was nice,, but then she thought too hard, which caused chaos... Poppy is basically the Prototype, trying to manipulate us into believing that Elliot was a horrible person. Huggy stays with us as much as he can, even helping us with high heights. Kissy is Poppy's apprentice, attacking us and Huggy when we get to close.

Mommy is a caretaker, giving us a place to stay before we have to go down further, allowing us to explore and keep safe. Though it's not fully safe, since we're still being chased and hunted. The toys (Boogie Bot, CatBee, Bron, ect.) are basically followers, and will chase and try to attack. Once er finally are able to get the train code, we go in and it's the same thing. Poppy overrides, but this time, it's to stop us from leaving cause she believes we're evil and trying to hurt them. So she tries crashing the train so we die, but thankfully we survive (how do we survive this stuff-).

Chapter 3. Huggy and the player are passed out, which gives the antagonist, Dogday, a chance to throw us in the crusher. Or whatever that's called. The events are the same there, we escape, get out, take the tram, then get to the Playcare. It's still relatively empty. This when we get to here from the Prototype, who helps us gain access to new areas. Dogday, Kickin, Bubba, and Hoppy are all the main antagonists of this area. Dogday resides in the Playhouse, Kickin is in the Counselor's office, Bubba's in the School, and Hoppy is roaming the outside most of the time, though she lost her ears while fighting, so she depends on her speed and sight.

The Toy Store is the first place we go into, which is where we meet Crafty and Bobby, both nervous and scared. They at first are afraid of us, avoiding us and hiding, but eventually warm up and start helping us around. We get the power and we are able to leave. Next place we go to is the School, where we meet Bubba. He attacks us and tries killing us, in a chase sequence like Ms. Delight's, but gets killed. We find out this area's power had been destroyed, sadly, so we move on. Next, we go to the orphanage, where we meet Picky, making food. She sees how hungry both the player and Huggy (don't ask how) are, so she gives us food and her room to rest up. Though we can choose not to.

We once again get attacked, this time by Hoppy. She and Picky fight, and we're able to crawl away thanks to Huggy, who follows us after. We get the power and escape. We then go to the Counselor's Office, where Kickin then tries to get us out of. But Huggy holds him down. And does so the whole time we're in there. Kickin will try and escape, but he's just kinda stuck. So we explore, and eventually get caught by Dogday, who knocks the two of us out. Dogday then lets Kicks free and makes sure he'll keep an eye on us and make sure we can't escape, then leaves back to the Playhouse. Once we awake, we have to find an exit, which is not that hard since the dumbest fell asleep. So we have to escape through the caves, bringing us to the Playhouse. It's basically the same, mini toys trying to hurt us, Dogday chasing us throughout, until we get to the Cage Room. There we finally meet Catnap, trapped in a cage and chained in the wall by his ankle.

He sees us and tells us to leave. This place was no longer safe. He's been here for years, with no clue of the outside other than what Dogday told him. That it was horrible, everyone was dead, and that there was no more fun. Only sorrow and misery. He didn't care to escape, no reason to do so since everyone had died. He told us to just leave him here, as although it was a fate worse than death, eternal isolation and torture by your once best friend, it was the only place he could call home. So we instead leave, getting the power from here and going down. Though sadly, we have to leave Huggy behind.

So yeah, that's it. Some things might change if I actually wanna keep this or not. Just a random thought I had that someone's probably already done Idk.

The Scars on Harley are from Yarnaby.

OC's name is Esther Stag, uses He/They pronouns and are masculine/neutral.

Esther eventually becomes Harley's caretaker and was "forced" to help with the change ( #toxic yaoi ).

Before that, they help discover scientific discoveries related to the body exchanges, but usually fails.

Esther does get turned into a toy against their will later on.

Harley looks like this because this is based off of Headmate Exomemories, meaning it was based off headmate/my exomemories. But also before i knew who the VA was, i may make an alternative for canon as this is an AU anyway.

Harley WILL use crutches before and after body change. I am disabled and i will always project disablility to my and other characters.

After reacting to a few videos of the new Poppy playtime chapter: Safe Haven. . It wasn't all too bad. . Even though I wasn't technically playing the chapters and watched videos of it with no commentary. . . It just hit me very hard. . Especially Doey's death. . . And I wish we got to see more of Pianosaurus. . . Why did they have to do him like that!?. . . So I tried to make a sketch of my Oc Maia after the events of Poppy Playtime where she eventually saves everyone and defeats the Protoype

She still misses Doey, Pianosaurus, Yarnaby, and Dogday. . I was going to make plushies of Yarnaby and Dogday but I couldn't squeeze them into the drawing. . . And she has plushies of them that she picked up from the Toy store to remember them

In The Poppy Playtime AU where Maia is the protagonist she was an orphan child who got adopted by a women name Olivia Cabrera(Her Canon Caretaker in my Original Works) and years later Maia went back to Playtime Co for nostalgic sake and to see the mascots but. . . The hour of Joy. . Kinda. . . Messed up the place and Maia got stuck trying to fix everything and went through the Canon game events. Although she loved all the toys and the mascots there so at first she tried to reason with Hugggy, Mommy, Bunzo, but she still ended up killing them after her attempts to reason with them failed

Yarnaby, Dogday, Pianosaurus, and Doey were her favorites so having to leave Dogday behind, watching Doey eat Pianosaurus, and Killing Yarnaby and Doey did break her more. . She even grew resentment towards Harley Sawyer for making her have to kill Yarnaby

Dang it I finally watched a lets play of chapter three and now I have a dumb cross over idea between my Eight Parents AU and Poppy playtime. To give a taste of whats going on in my head incase I Don't write a fanfiction or draw a series of doodles heres some dialog that keeps going on in my head over and over again.

A story I would love to write but haven’t even started writing yet?

I actually have two for this one (as a treat)!

1: A Trolls and Bugsnax crossover au where I put different Trolls characters on Snaxtooth and make them heal through all that. The Trolls would be bigger sized in this and semi-take the role of the Bugsnax cast (semi unrelated but: Trolls are like Bugsnax to me-)

2: A Poppy Playtime au with an everyone lives/no one dies premise, with a player oc of mine who isn’t human but isn’t a toy made by Playtime Co either. They were a caretaker of the bigger body toys, but obviously wasn’t there during the hour of joy. This one might expand to an indie horror game “everyone lives together”/“everyone lives/no one dies” au with more of my favorite games

Author's note : Basically it's a caretaker!reader type of au , It will mostly take place before the events of the hour of joy. I'm not sure If I'll keep continuing this but If people enjoy It then I might keep posting!

So just recently I've gotten hired at Playtime Co. You know , big toy company that's pretty reputable all that. To be honest I don't usually bother to write stuff like this down but now that I'm hired at a big company , I thought , You know what best to just have something to keep track of what's happened In some details.

My employer , Mr. Leith Pierre. At first I was expecting him to offer me a position to work with toy assembling or anything In the inovations department . I wasn't exactly prepared when he had asked If I had caretaking experience. Why exactly did a toy factory needed a caretaker for? I didn't know but I just assumed It had something to do with the children that visit the factory at times from what I've heard. I kinda regret not asking Mr.Pierre to elaborate further but he didn't seem like the type of guy who has the patience to elaborate on something that simple.

Anyways to keep it short I just told him I did and so on , ending the discussion for the caretaker position instead. We continued with some of the usual job interview stuff , wages , schedules , qualifications etc. Good to know that did landed me the job...as one of the company's caretaker. I don't really know what to expect but It seems like I'll just have to see for myself what this job has in store.

Poppy Playtime: Heal Those left Behind

( A poppy playtime au)

Plot: Evangeline, a young woman buys the playtime co factory after its doomed to be destroyed and discovers they her grandfathers stories about the place were true. Now she must be the toy’s caretaker and try to heal those her grandfather and others hurt.

Scene: a middle aged woman with black hair and green eyes looks up from her desk. The name Evangeline is on her name tag

“ hello there. Welcome to Playtime co. Or well what use to be it. Now it’s a sanctuary for toys who have been left behind.”

You see some toys like huggy wuggy poke his head out staring at you.

“ huggy…it’s okay. They are friendly

He leaves growling

“ forgive him. He and the others aren’t use to…visitors. As you can see this place is now a sanctuary for those abused and left behind by ( Redacted) and the other people who worked here. I am working hard to help them. Along with my two friends. The toys here are still learning to heal but…I will allow you to speak to them. But there are a few rules”

9. Some toys won’t answer right away. Some are still shy or wary of humans.

10. With characters there will be a green, yellow or red heart. Which symbols of they are safe to talk to or not. If you see two or three different colors than that means you might want to be cautious.
