Quick Rant About Disney’s Handling of Planet of The Apes
Tumblr media
On the one hand, I want Disney to do more with Planet of The Apes. Stuff like:
- TV series adaptations (like remaking the original TV series that Roddy McDowell was in or making novelizations like Firestorm and Revelations into TV series. I could also see a TV series starring Cornelius as he comes to terms with who he is and who his father was with Maurice, Rocket, Bad Ape, Nova and Lake also returning)
Or! A TV series revolving around Noa and Eagle Clan (like the many misadventures of Noa, Soona, and Anaya!) or Proximus and the coastal apes (which would give us more context and time for Proxy)!
- More merchandise. Because, really, Disney could do so much with the series in that way! I’d gladly spend my money on PoTA gear if it were available at Disneyland! (Coloring books, keychains, books, comics, stuffed animals, dolls, etc).
I’m not saying make a ride or location dedicated to the franchise, just something to say “the apes have arrived!”. Making merch for PoTA could also give the company time to play with the franchise while also giving us fans something to love and want.
We also need more PoTA merch in general. I only know of the NECA figures and Kingdom popcorn bowls and keychain (EBay does have figures and things from the original PoTA movies but it’s all expansive and not quite the same).
- They could also play around with the original series, maybe expand on and play with the setting and characters? It doesn’t have to be just the reboot series they could play with (maybe the Tim Burton remake could be added to Disney’s Halloween themes? 😆).
I don’t really mind if we don’t get much info or plan updates from Disney regarding the franchise. It just irks me that the company bought the franchise yet hasn’t put as much attention or time in it as they did with other franchises they’ve bought (such as Star Wars, Avatar or Marvel).
That being said though!!! I also don’t want Disney to do to PoTA as it did to those other franchises. Here’s what I mean by that:
- Make so many movies and TV series with a plot line that’s so similar you can’t tell one from the other (Like Marvel or Avengers movies-bad guy, fighting, team up, more fighting, dialogue, fighting).
- Similar to the one above but, create so many spin-offs that it becomes overwhelming and new fans don’t know where to start (Such as Star Wars and it’s many sequels, prequels, and everything in between).
- This is more of a side comment but Disney hasn’t exactly been making good or original movies lately (lots if sequels to movies they’ve already made or movies like Wish for example). Seriously, can someone check on the writers? They’re either overworked or Disney keeps interfering and dismissing their ideas and work (which is my best guess).
So yeah. It sucks that we haven’t heard much since Kingdom’s release but I’d rather Disney sit on the franchise for a bit before making anything with PoTA than for them to potentially harm the franchise with bad writing, poor quality, or uninteresting and overused characters (or character types).
The fact that Disney bought Fox and Planet of The Apes (to me anyway) implies that the company has ideas for the PoTA franchise. Ideas for where it can go after Caesar’s time or possibly involving the original movies.
Whether those ideas are good or bad remains to be seen but not doing so much as make merchandise for fans (seriously Disney!! I will buy it but you have to make it and sell it first!!), is kinda disappointing and frustrating.

@greenxprof ( from here )
Nova takes a good few minutes to appreciate his choice in apron. Ridiculous. Cheesy. They can't love him any more than this. “ Did you preheat the oven? ” They nearly leave it at that, but the good sense to clarify quickly comes to them. “ To 170. ”
The worst case scenario would be for them to burn the brownies. No matter how precisely you measure and how perfect your ingredients, putting anything in the oven at 250 degrees is turning it to coal. Not that he's ever done that. The 250 degrees. Not the burning. He's a 'blink and it's coal' kind of guy, overwork from the lab has lead to far too many smoking dishes for Nova's poor heart.
They've invested in a timer, now. One of the old fashioned ones that dings loudly until you turn it off. It prevents burning, but it doesn't save their dishes from the precision monster that is Green. He's been given three lectures explaining that measuring liquids in the lab is significantly different from measuring powders in the kitchen and it still doesn't seem to have set in. Old habits die hard?
That's why Nova's here. To watch him like a hawk and correct him every few seconds with a bright smile and cheerful attitude. 'You can't get annoyed, look how cute I am! That's too much sugar!' This sort of routine. They already warned Green what kind of monster they'd become in the kitchen when he'd suggested the brownies. Now he doubly cannot get annoyed at them. Look how cute they are!
‍ ‍‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍“ I mean, I'm sure you did! Just checking. I'll get sad if all our hard work goes to waste tonight. ”

With the asks about Nova, especially the one about where he falls on the maturity scale from that one ask, it kinda gives me the feeling that, from just how heavily traumatized Nova is from what Black Moon did to him, that a coping mechanism he might have would be something similar to what Canon Lunar does whenever he acts younger and more childish than he actually is, though likely not to the same extent. I’d imagine spending 200 years of one’s life being tortured past the point of exhaustion and death several times would probably cause anyone to not want to act maturely once given a chance at a better and safer life…
I wanna give the poor guy a hug now, poor Nova deserves all the kindness and happiness…
I am basing Nova's behavior on my own, from my experience tbh. Nova is more of a quiet individual who may go off on his own sometimes or stay close to Dusk or Eclipse. Maybe Sun. If he does become more childish, it would be way down the line given everything he has had to endure. He may have a new lease on life after his arc, but his soul still bears all the exhaustion and overworking from the centuries under Black Moon's rule so he still has a very long ways to go before he gets anywhere near that point.

WIP whenever! Tagged by the lovely @sleepswithvillains
No pressure tags @catbrak-daycare @actualanxiousswampwitch and anyone else who wants to do it! Im falling asleep rn so names aren't coming to me easily lol
I was going to show more of what I have for mavashas story but I feel like it's not quite where I want it to be, WIP or not ^^;; so instead, have a little Nova/Talen one shot ive been working on!
Tw blood and wound mention
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nova stepped onto his ship with a heavy sigh. He had finally finished his undercover mission in a Republic Tatooine cantina, and he had to admit, he was ready for a long vacation.
"Nova!" He was greeted by his significant other shrieking his name in joy. He couldn't even fake a smile to him, he was too tired. How the hell was a Sith Lord this peppy?
After Nova gave a half hearted wave back at him, the rattataki gasped and rushed to his side. "What on earth happened to you? Is this your blood?" He asked.
"Yes, love, but can we discuss this later? I need some sleep and some quiet." Nova pleaded, but his lover wasn't having it. He was already prying armor off the pureblood agent and calling for Vector to bring the medical supplies. "Talen, please!" The red skinned man protested as his shirt was pulled over his head.
"By the Emperor…" Talen whimpered as he worried over the other males wounds. "Who did this to you?" The question was full of concern, but also anger.
"A dead man." Was the simple answer "Tay… I'm tired, please just let me rest.. this day has been awful"
Before Talen told him "no", Vector arrived on the scene with the medical bag. "Agent. You look terrible." He said with his voice also laced with worry. "We overheard you demanding rest, but we request you get fixed up first. You may get a serious infection otherwise."
The agent frowned as his boyfriend and the man he had started to call a brother gave him those eyes. He groaned "Fine. Let's go to the medical bay and I'll let you fix me up."
Talen gave him a smile and helped get him to the medical bay. He was sat down on the table as Vector doused a rag in water and prepared alcohol and antibiotic ointment. "Thank you, Vector. I'll take it from here" Talen insisted.
"Certainly. Please keep us updated." He asked before leaving the two alone. Once he was gone the rag was picked up and gently smoothed over the other man's bloodied chest.
"What happened during that op, love? You were just surveying a party. How did it go this wrong?" Talen finally asked him as the rag cleaned up a large scratch across his chest.
"My cover was blown by an SIS operative. He got a tip from some anonymous source. It's something I have to look into tomorrow. I cannot have that happen again" his voice was stern, he was still in work mode.
Talen sighed as he got to another cluster of wounds. The enemy must have used a knife to give scratches like this. "Relax please, my ruby." He pleaded."you're safe, you're home" he used his free hand to pet Nova's cheek "You're with me."
Nova couldn't help but lean into that gentle hand. He was so tired and he still wasn't finished working. The day had been compromised and he wanted nothing more than to sleep and enjoy some quiet cuddle time with Talen. He could hear as Talen continued his insistent chatter, but it started to get drown out as he felt his head grow heavy. He didn't even notice when he started to fall asleep, slumping forward against his lover.
i agree with what your are saying but the problem with buying stuff form shein is how the treat the workers
Okay i understand this, genuinely i do like i hate the exploitation of their workers and the way that theyre overworked, left in horrible conditions, and denied basic humanity-plus the use of child labor is very promiment overseas however you need to understand that when specifically poor people dont have access to cost-efficient clothing options that they have to shop at fast fashion, the popularization of thrifting and going to fucking good wills and the salvation army and buying out a plethora of size inclusive and cheap clothing then reselling it with 95% profit margins on websites like depop is the reason that people have to rely on fast fashion. Then when it comes to the fat/plus size community-fat people are genuinely systematically and systemically oppressed and its difficult to find clothing that fits from a lot of sustainable or even domestic based branding. Personally i dont shop and shein and ive rarely shopped at fashion nova but im not gonna shame people that do-or people that have to when i understand the reasons that they have to support brands/markets like these.
https://youtu.be/KBEYOZzoThA There's things i like much more about China than the US. A lot of things actually but i see shady shit going on from Communists, Anarchists, hackers, ecoterrorists etc and they work together with hate groups and terrorists often enough, and criminals. All of them to an extent or indirectly even without doing knowing like druggies for example or johns. So, what we do? Go crazy cuz you think 5G Will make you crave Richard Simmons or that the Terminator will arrive disguised as the Amazon delivery guy? We have more pressing problems and since both Communism and Nazis have gotten into journalism and Hollywood and media as well, and also anarchists, and hackers are Luddites and ecoterrorists too as well as Anarchists and antifa claims to be antifascistas but dude, Communism killed more people in official peace time than Nazis did in WW2, and they've committed genocide against peasants and just average poor people, and these leftists claim waaah waaah Uncle Sam is a hater. Naw. They just don't get laid much, are overworked, deal with too many assholes, and have PTSD. That and this shit job is boring. I'm starting to think, hey, i know we have to much compassion to push the button but please God, send aliens, a comet, asteroid, super nova or have a black hole pop up in the center of the Earth. 😂🤭 I almost wish instead of shaking hands with guys, it was customary to punch them hard. 😂 But realistically, we need to keep the peace by being prepared. It's called a deterrent. Otherwise, yeah, we actually will have ww3 and payback is a bitch. Bubba or geez, what if you get stuck marrying some bitchy woman? Not much to go around if they literally steal all the good ones. Then Mommunism and dating a Bitchtator is the new normal, and for women, Dicktators and Patriarchy is more like Praytriarchy cuz you'll pray you die in your sleep. Or more like Preytriarchy cuz even Jews in Auschwitz, some did just that against their own women. And look around, morals are in shortage already. The Jews back then were much much nicer than anyone American now by and large. And Latin American as well. Smiling faces will be much worse. #merica🇺🇸 #military (at North Ogden, Utah) https://www.instagram.com/p/CJ4MXmChe8K/?igshid=1x27wec8h117d
Shoulder Muscles: How to Improve Function and Avoid Pain
Broad, defined shoulder muscles are like a billboard declaring, “I WORK OUT! But if you don’t take care of this complicated joint, that little sign can quickly turn into “ROAD CLOSED!”
As many as two-thirds of people will experience shoulder problems during their lifetime, according to a Dutch research review. Even more startling: When researchers at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center performed MRIs on people who reported no complaints of shoulder pain, they discovered that 82 percent of the adults tested showed signs of arthritis in the acromioclavicular (AC) joint. (That’s the bump on top of your shoulder where your shoulder blade and collarbone meet.)
All the more reason to know how the shoulder muscles tasked with supporting this vital joint are supposed to function.
  Shoulder Anatomy
There are four main joints within the shoulder complex, and an even greater number of muscles involved in moving both the humerus (upper arm) and scapula (shoulder blade). We’re going to focus on the two primary joints associated with major movements.
GLENOHUMERAL JOINT
This is the technical name for what most people consider the shoulder joint. This is where the humerus attaches to the scapula to form the most mobile joint in the body.
Thanks to its many surrounding muscles, the glenohumeral joint flexes (raising in front of you), extends (bringing behind you), adducts (pulling across your body), abducts (raising out to the side), and internally and externally rotates your arm. Then it does something funky called circumduction, a combination of those first four movements that results in a windmill type of motion.
All of that mobility, however, comes at the cost of stability. Exhibit A: baseball pitchers, who have among the highest rates of shoulder injuries.
Deltoid muscle
Function: Flexion (anterior head), abduction (lateral head), and extension (posterior head) of the humerus.
You’re probably very familiar with this first shoulder muscle, the deltoids, or “delts.” A triple-headed muscle (anterior/front, lateral/side, and posterior/rear) that forms the “cap” on the shoulder, the delts each originate at different points along the scapula or collarbone, and come together nearly halfway down the outer side of your humerus.
Rotator cuff muscles
Function: Stabilize the shoulder, and help with adduction, abduction, and rotation of the humerus.
The muscles of the rotator cuff lie beneath the delts, cradling the shoulder end of the humerus like a pair of Spanx. The acronym S.I.T.S. may help you remember them:
Supraspinatus runs along the top of your shoulder blade, and helps raise your arm out to the side.
Infraspinatus and
Teres minor both cover the back of your shoulder blade, and externally rotate your arm.
Subscapularis runs along the anterior surface of the shoulder blade — the part that faces your ribcage — and helps with internal rotation and adduction.
The location of the S.I.T.S. muscles (i.e., around the shoulder joint), increases the risk of impingement, which happens when they become pinched between the humerus and the scapula, usually as a result of repeated overhead movements. “Rotator cuff injuries are more common than deltoid injuries, but a strength imbalance between the deltoids and rotator cuff muscles can increase the risk of impingement as well,” says Trevor Thieme, C.S.C.S., fitness and nutrition content manager for Beachbody.
These small shoulder muscles and their accompanying tendons are also at risk of tearing — especially if they’re weak — when you subject your shoulder to extreme ranges of motion and/or repetitive movement. That’s why it’s important not to neglect any part of your shoulder during training.
Other muscles supporting the glenohumeral joint
The latissimus dorsi (“lat”) and pectoralis major muscles also help control motion at the shoulder.
The latissimus dorsi, which is among the body’s largest muscles, originates near the spine and wraps under the arm, attaching at the front of the humerus. It helps adduct, extend, and internally rotate the arm. (Assisting the latissimus dorsi is the teres major, which runs from the scapula to the humerus.)
Pec major helps adduct, flex, and internally rotate your arm. It originates along the collarbone, sternum, and upper part of the rib cage, and attaches to the front of your humerus.
If you haven’t been counting, we’re already at seven shoulder muscles that attach to the humerus and help it move. And we haven’t even gotten to shoulder blade function yet.
SCAPULOTHORACIC JOINT
The scapula connects to the humerus at glenohumeral joint, but it also utilizes a whole different set of shoulder muscles for its own movement and stabilization. This movement centers on the scapulothoracic joint, which, while not a joint in the traditional sense, allows for the shoulder blade to glide along the posterior ribcage.
Scapular muscles
Muscles associated with the scapulothoracic joint include:
Pectoralis minor, which lies underneath the pec major, and helps protract (pull forward) the scapula.
Levator scapulae, which connects your neck to your shoulder blade for the purposes of elevation.
Trapezius (a.k.a. “traps”), which originates at the center of your back and fans upward to the neck and shoulders to elevate, retract (pull back), and depress the scapula.
Serratus anterior, which consists of fingerlike muscles that grip the sides of your ribs. Also called the “boxer’s muscle,” because it helps protract the scapula when throwing a punch.
Rhomboids, which are located underneath the traps, and help elevate and retract the scapula.
If you sit in front of a computer all day and/or are stressed, it’s likely these shoulder muscles are imbalanced, which leads to muscle tension and pain. Your upper traps, levator scapulae, and pec minor — which draw the shoulder blade forward and upward — are probably overactive, creating that hunched, rounded-shoulders look. Meanwhile, your rhomboids, middle and lower traps, and serratus anterior — which draw the scapula down toward the ribcage — are probably underactive.
Now you can see why the shoulders are often so challenging; so many muscles, not a ton of space for tendons to slide around, a variety of movements (many of which can be repetitive), and it’s all being utilized even when you’re just sitting at your desk.
Besides potential arthritis in the joint, many people experience shoulder pain around the top of the arm, near that bony part of the shoulder. Called subacromial pain syndrome (S.A.P.S.), it has many potential causes, but it often derives from impingement of the tendons in that area, weak rotator cuff muscles, and poor shoulder blade biomechanics. Problems associated with S.A.P.S. include bursitis, rotator cuff tears, and biceps tendinitis.
  4 Training Tips to Avoid Shoulder Problems
You’re probably not pitching too many fastballs, but regular exercisers can get into trouble with their shoulder muscles and connective tissues all the same. A 2011 study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research compared two groups of women, one that trained with weights and one that had no experience with resistance. Researchers found that the workout group had less range of motion and greater shoulder instability in certain directions than the non-strength bunch.
“People who weight train have more shoulder pain than the general population,” says study co-author Morey J. Kolber, P.T., PhD, a professor of physical therapy at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. “These muscle imbalances contribute to pain and injuries, but they are easily preventable.”
Here are four things you can do today to ensure shoulder integrity:
1. Avoid overextending the front of your shoulder
Exercises that involve putting your arms in the high-five or goal post position — like during the behind-the-head lat pulldown or the overhead press with flared elbows — can stretch the joint capsule and ligaments of the shoulder. That can lead to instability, says Kolber. “You’re putting your shoulder in a vulnerable position, so avoid that motion.”
2. Don’t ignore your rotator cuff
Moves that target the S.I.T.S. muscles, especially external rotators the infraspinatus and teres minor, help strengthen these stabilizers. A recent study of people with S.A.P.S. published in The International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy, found that doing eccentric external rotation exercises — focusing on the phase of the move in which the target muscle lengthens (e.g., the lowering phase of a biceps curl) — helped improve strength, pain, and function more than a normal shoulder exercise program.
Try this external rotation exercise
Anchor the end of a resistance band to a sturdy object, and stand perpendicular to the anchor point, holding the other end of the band in your right hand.
With your right elbow bent at your side 90 degrees, hold the band in front of your abs, and step away from the anchor until there’s no slack in the band.
Use your left hand to push your right hand out to your right side (taking away the work of the concentric phase of the movement).
Release your right hand, and slowly return to the starting position, resisting the pull of the band. Do 2 sets of 15 reps per side.
3. Balance out your exercises
Ideally, you want to maintain a similar amount of strength and flexibility on both the front and back of your body, says Kolber. In order to do so, he recommends performing an equal number of pushing and pulling movements.
“The posterior [rear] heads of the deltoids tend to be under-trained, because people can’t see them and they don’t know how to target them,” says Thieme. “As a result, the posterior head tends to lag behind the other two heads on most people.” Pull-ups, cable reverse flys, and bent-over lateral raises are effective ways to work this important muscle.
4. Don’t overwork your traps
Men in particular love to do shrugs to target their upper traps, which originate at the back of your head and spine, and run along the tops of your shoulders. But these muscles are often already over-developed, thanks to stress and poor posture.
The tighter your traps are, the more they’ll pull on your neck and shoulder blades, causing strain that can turn into pain. Instead, target the middle and lower traps (pull-ups are a great option here, too), which help draw the shoulder blades down.
3, 12 and 16 for the "most likely" asks? :D (~Dina)
3: Most likely to fall asleep literally anywhere
Nova, the poor overworked agent who's boyfriend is a little high maintenence- the moment he has a moment to rest, that pureblood is out like a light.
Tumblr media
12: Most likely to take selfies at inappropriate times
Talen. Hes a little ridiculous and very peppy for a Sith lord. He also LOVES documenting anything he and his beloved agent do together.... even if it's not the best time.
Tumblr media
16: Most likely to get into an argument with an animal
Animal lover Kenaas treats every animal he crosses like his children, he loves talking to them even if they don't really talk back. Though, his Acklay is probably the most likely to respond to his chatter.
