Over the years I’ve observed that what Nik is doing now fresh from surgery is extremely difficult to do even for the healthiest and younger curlers. I’m guessing elite curlers are secretly shaking in their boots right now because Nik showed at the most recent GSOC just how scary good he already is just 2 months from surgery despite wearing the magical brace & using a modified, more upright slide out of the hack. Imagine how formidable a foe he’ll be come April/May when he’s healed more & stronger. I for one cannot wait to see. Looking forward to @teamniklasedin making history again by winning #WMCC2023 for my birthday it will be the 5th straight for this iteration of Team Edin & 7th overall for 🐐 @niklasedin I am convinced & repeatedly willing the universe to manifest not only another Worlds win for my #Icevengers but more GSOC wins, including the Pinty’s Cup & reclaiming the European Championships title 👊💪 . . I’m still bummed my Swedes didn’t win Team of the Year for the sports gala. I know they were out of the running for the biggest overall award despite me voting & trying to get other curling fans to vote too, but they should’ve won Team of the Year after winning both Olympic & Worlds gold in 2022. Do they get a special award for managing to dodge all the cameras at the event though? Were they eliminated by default because Nik is the curling GOAT & not a horse 🤔 (Sorry for the attempt at a dad joke - apparently equestrians tend to win a lot at the sports gala so it’s a pro-horse & maybe not a pro-GOAT crowd?) Congrats to Nils van der Poel though, like for reals. I like the guy & he deserved all the awards. One of my many takes on Billy and his mom.

Billy waiting to leave Hawkins while his mother desperately tries to find him when he turns eighteen because Neil said if she ever tried to take him he'd ruin her.

Billy saves his money from the pool- what little Neil doesnt take. Steals. Cheats at cards. Poolsharks. The whole nine yards.

BUT Billy either never learning she was coming because of Starcourt. Or of him surviving and not wanting to go because she left him- and he never truly knew why. She never picked up his calls after a certain time and just drifted away until he was so angry he couldn't see straight hence the misdirected anger- and then well.

Just imagine she tries to explain and he cuts her off. His expression flat. No frown no smile. No twitching of the eyes or baring of the teeth. Just unnerving and blank. Then he leaves. Just like she did. (Not because it's right, but because he knows with love comes hard choices. She made hers a long time ago. It might be unfair, but he's not a little boy anymore he has a choice now.)

Either way. I think he'd leave her. Not because she left him, but because he knows he deserves something more. (At one point maybe he tried to make excuses. To see it from her side and repeat the same excuses she likely told him. If she told him anythint at all) However now he's older. He's angrier. He knows that even though she had to get on her feet, had to help herself out of that situation, that she was also a victim. But he was a child. He had no choices. She did. However small, it was possible. There would have been sacrifices but it was possible.

Watching The Hunger Games: Mockingjay on tv and eating dinner (#vegan #chickn #sandwich #sweetpotatofries #chipotle sauce YUM) while waiting for the #BadenMasters livestream starts. Excited to see 🐐 @niklasedin & @teamniklasedin in a featured @badenmasters stream w/ commentary by Lorna Rettig tomorrow. I didn’t sleep last night and watched all 6 of the Friday draws and planning to watch all of the 5 Saturday draws too LOL fully embracing degen hours 😂😭 *fangirlproblems* . . I’ll for sure have both streams up - gotta cheer for super spare extraordinaire @daniel.magnusson00 and @team.magnusson too. I was bummed about how their first game went, but they actually did much better in the game vs De Cruz. It’ll be interesting to see if the YouTube captions/subtitles continue to provide good entertainment to the viewers/chatters like the one from yesterday 😂 I just can’t… Also, I need a better, HQ pic of the poor happy ice tech for meme purposes. As Lorna said, nobody likes extra ends except for the team that needs them. Unfortunately for Team Traub, they were facing the reigning World Champs in an EE… I really hope there’s video of the last 2 ends. Lorna stayed past her bedtime & continued “radio curling” to give fans the play by play.
