I Put 34 GMMTV Actor Names Into A Random Pairing Generator...here are the results.
and my thoughts on each. S/o to the internet for this idea.
Key: Yes No Interesting
Off-Louis. No
I cannot picture this pair at all, sorry.
Nanon-Ford. Interesting
This one is interesting. Ford has potential and the Our Skyy 2 trailer & clips proves that Nanon can retain chemistry with just about anyone, regardless of the circumstances ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
Tay-Thor. Interesting
For some reason, I can see it. I can't explain it, but Thor's acting energy matches Tay's so well. I can kind of see it for them in a modern-style romantic comedy.
Mark-Mix. Yes
How have I not thought of this!!! Visuals: ✨SCRUMPTIOUS✨, Talent: ✨EXISTENT✨, Chemistry: ✨SCORCHING✨! (Well, that last one is more of a guess) but I can 100% see them in a continuation story of Jedi-Rose-style storyline that we saw in The Warp Effect. GMMTV, pay me for this one.
Neo-Krist. No
I sort of see it but, sadly, I'm not sure I can conceive of a suitable plot to match their skills. And even though I've only seen Krist in one series, I feel like the chemistry wouldn't play off the screen very well.
Earth-Pond. No
Beautiful visuals but probably negative chemistry. While Earth has more partnerships to study when it comes to chemistry, Pond only has demonstrated chemistry with Phuwin and he struggles to even maintain that the moment he opens his mouth.
Podd-Gawin. This one is cheating, we already know they work.
Gemini-Chimon. No
To be quite frank, I don't think Gemini can match Chimon's energy. While their acting skill is at a somewhat similar level, I don't think Gemini can pull off the type of characters I expect Chimon to be acting alongside at this point (like, for example, a young office worker/intern).
Joss-New. Lmao Yes
This has the potential to be the most entertaining BL of all time. Up there with Unforgotten Night, even
Tumblr media
Drake-Dunk. What in the fresh hell is this?
Listen, I see Dunk. View him even. But to ask him to pull this chemistry up by its bootstraps is doing too damn much. Not only can I not see the chemistry, but even the visuals don't match well. Plus, who gon act?
Joong-Fourth. No (and yes it's for the reasons you're thinking)
The biggest problem with this pairing is the implication of the visual. IMO Joong looks like Fourth's uncle to me. And while they don't *really* look alike, they do, you know?
Bright-Khaotung. Khaotung, I am so sorry to you.
If Bright couldn't match Win's acting skill, how can he match Khao's?
Perth-Gun. Interesting
While I'd watch it just to see two very talented actors play off of one another, I almost feel like they'd be brought down by chemistry? Hear me out here: Gun does not easily create romantic chemistry with his acting partners. Even where there are strong romantic undertones to a plot his character is in, it almost completely dissipates under Gun's strong presence. I'm thinking very clearly of TodBlack here. We were 100% meant to ship that but Gun made it so hard lol. He had much more chemistry with Mond as Gram (as White and Black) than he had with Sing as Tod. Hell, some storylines complicate his chemistry with Off. That said, if it's a Not Me-style plot, I'd watch it.
First-Satang. VERY Interesting
I haven't seen Satang in much but he gives vibes of being able to create chemistry with anyone a la Nanon and, ironically, First. And we all know what to expect from First at this point. They'll give us what Marc Pahun and Pawin were supposed to give in MGAYG.
Winny-Win. Interesting
While both of them could use acting classes, their looks complement each other and they have the vibes to pull off a $2 Copy A Bangkok-airing-on-AIS Play BL plot.
Ohm (Pawat)-Singto. Been there, done that.
Fluke (Pusit)-Phuwin. I'll have to pass
I like them both in other pairings but together they'd kind of put me off. I'd need a proof of concept or something first.

[Nickname: POND]
POND'S ACTOR PROFILE
Name: NARAVIT LERTRATKOSUM
Nickname: POND (formerly PANGPOND)
Birthdate: FEBRUARY 1, 2001
Nationality: THAI
Born: Bangkok, Thailand
Career: Actor, Dancer, Model & Singer
Education: Studying Biomedical Engineering
In 2020 Pond won the 3rd GO ON GIRL & GUY STAR SEARCH by CLEAN and CLEAR. After which he signed with GMMTV
During his university years he was crowned the hottest guy of the Faculty of Engineering.
Pond is the founder of APOLLO clothing brand.
Tumblr media
Pond's first role with GMMTV was a guest role. He played Non on THE GIFTED GRADUATION.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pond's second role was the starring role along side his new ship PHUWIN TANGSAKYUEN and SAHAPHAP WONGRATCH aka MIX.
Pond's pairing with Phuwin was a fluke. As I heard it, Pond won the role of Mork (SUTTHAYA) but the role of Pi was originally cast with THANAWIN PHOLCHAROENRAT aka WINNY (he later played Koh in FUTS) and Phuwin was cast as Mork's brother Meen pairing him with TRAI NIMTAWAT aka NEO as they were "friends" in BL CAUSE YOU'RE MY BOY more or less boyfriends but Phuwin was a young teen then.
Director SAKON WONGSINWISET aka GOLF didn't like the chemistry so PHUWIN tested as Pi and got the role along side Pond. And LOUIS was cast as Meen.
Tumblr media
Pond's third role with GMMTV was that of an Actor (a guest role) in OOPS, MR. SUPERSTAR HIT ON ME.
Tumblr media
Pond's fourth role with GMMTV was a repairing with PHUWIN TANGSAKYUEN. Pond played Palm opposite Phuwin's Nuengdiao in their 2nd BL NEVER LET ME GO...he returned to the same role in OUR SKYY 2 (his technical sixth role with GMMTV)
Tumblr media
Pond's fifth role with GMMTV was support role of Judo in DIRTY LAUNDRY. Judo was a dancer and a escort providing his services to female clients.
Tumblr media
Pond's sixth role was another support role. He played Alan in LONELINESS SOCIETY. He played the little brother of two battling older brothers (one biological the other adopted and very mistreated)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pond has his seventh role with GMMTV upcoming. Paired for a 3rd time with PHUWIN TANGSAKYUEN. Pond is slated to play Phum in the BL series WE ARE. Phuwin will play Pheem.
POND'S SINGING CAREER
Though not extensive Pond tried his hand at singing for the NEVER LET ME GO OST with the song ONLY ONE (Available on GMMTV Records) which was in my opinion a really good song.
He also joined Phuwin for 100 Seasons. And he has performed live with Phuwin and other GMMTV Artists.
Happy 23rd Birthday POND NARAVIT LERTRATKOSUM.

The Good and Bad of Fish Upon The Sky (FUTS)
SPOILER WARNING.
The Good:
At no point did this show take itself too seriously. The beauty of a romcom like FUTS is in its simplicity and its ability to deliver a wholesome message without becoming preachy. But more than that, FUTS knew what it was and never sacrificed its voice through over-sentimentality. This simple feat was a combination of two other "Goods" of the show: acting and style
While the acting in FUTS is far from the best practiced or most believable (outside of Neo), it serves a very unique purpose in this otherwise mundane story. Each actor has their own charm. From Phuwin and Neo's often overdramatic acting, to Pond's decidedly monotone approach, each actor makes their character distinct. Because of the way the characters are played, the story not only feels quite different from what many consider its spiritual twin, 2gether, but it also allows the narrative structure and editing of the story to flow unobtrusively. Even in scenes where, for example, Neo is talking to an omniscient narrator and explicitly breaking the fourth wall, viewers never feel pulled out of the story. A large part of this is because Neo, in many ways, embodied the ridiculousness of Duean and played to the editor. Put another way, he played to the outrageous, anything-goes style of the dialogue, plots, and editing, which has the effect of making the character more believable in such a ridiculous alternate universe than, say, if he were to play Duean more realistically
The style/editing and how they complement the narrative. The style of FUTS is, for lack of a better word, chaotic. From the narrative to the direction to the editing, this show has a very whacky vibe to it. One example of how each of these elements came together to produce one of the most memorable scenes in a Thai romcom BL to date, is when we are first introduced to Duean's crew in Episode 2. With the introduction of each character, we get a brief clip of their role within the group--some of the intros flat out contain references to other pieces of popular media. For example, Jeans' character auditions for the role of 2gether's Salawat, while Yok is basically Psy. At the end of the introductions, we get a JoJo reference when the guys pose dramatically in front of Pi and the moment is cartoonized in the style of JJBA. Later in the episode, while Duean is looking at his newly posted grades and sees he got 4 Fs, the narrator makes note of it, then there's a very brief cut scene to the GMM's F4 trailer lol. Another fun thing is the breaking up of the show into basically 2 parts: Mork & Pi's storyline, and the Story of the 5th Year Student. By breaking up these two storylines (rather than integrating them) by completely changing the aspect ratio, the color grading, and other visual cues, FUTS accomplishes 2 things: 1) it adds a uniqueness to the overall style of the production, and 2) it makes the ending land. Without this separation, the ending would make very little sense and the drama of it wouldn't hold as much weight. We'd constantly be asking ourselves "why are Duean and Mork fighting about Meen when they should've run into each other at some point?" With this narrative device, it shows us that the story world is quite big, and Mork and Meen, unlike Duean and Pi, live very separate lives, so the likelihood of each of them all crossing paths is very slim. This is why the reveal of Mork as Meen's brother doesn't completely miss the mark. In any other show, all of these elements might be distracting, but FUTS pulls it off with its over-the-top slapstick humor, acting, and narrative
The strange chemistry between Mork and Pi. Something about Mork's boldness and Pi's reluctant acceptance is quite compelling. I attribute a lot of it to Pond following in the footsteps of actors like Bright and Podd when they look at Win and Khaotung in 2gether and Tonhon Chonlatee. He has a way of looking so incredibly into Phuwin, like he wants to devour him, that it almost makes you forget his acting struggles elsewhere. Phuwin on the other hand, while still developing as an actor, plays Pi's insecurities relatively well. One way that this shows in when he looks at Mork as if he holds Mork in higher esteem than himself. This, oddly, manifests as romantic tension more often than not. I suspect the reason why is because often, when people hold other people in a regard higher than themselves, it's usually out of a love-based admiration (be it romantic love, friendly love, etc.)
The well-done tropes. This show is basically Tropes: The Series, but combined with the style of the show and some of the messages it sends, it gives a really exciting feeling to those tropes. One example I can think of is when Mork and Pi finally get together and decide to hide their relationship. The way they go about hiding in plain sight (such as the scene where they're having lunch together and sitting back-to-back seeming as if they're talking to themselves and not each other, or the scene where they trade snacks in the library) is honestly a highlight of the show for me
The amount of physical intimacy and where it occurs in the story. Notice I emphasized amount. The quality of the intimacy is a whole other point but the fact that we do get to see so much (especially well before episode 12) adds a layer of naturalness to the story
MorkPi's relationship-development moments and skinship were quite heavy in FUTS for it to be GMMTV production. Some that stand out are the Episode 6/7 late-night adventure scenes, pretty much all of Episode 10 where Mork is trapped in Pi's house, and Episode 2 when they go to the corpse lab to make a wish
The moral of the story. At the end of the day shipping culture can be toxic, you should NEVER pressure someone into doing things, and insecurities can't be fixed with a makeover/in only one day. Those are some damn good and well-established morals of FUTS that I can really appreciate
The fact that Pi had such a realistic character arc is simply amazing. I've never seen a character with such a relatable issue as insecurity and low self-esteem as Pi. And the fact that it impacts his relationships is very real. Moreover, the way it rears its ugly head is also very realistic and the way it doesn't just go away with a kiss from the most attractive guy in the world makes it all the more special as a character issue. Other BLs would've washed all of Pi's insecurities away but FUTS shows just how agonizing it can be to live with low self esteem and (likely) social anxiety
The OST for this show is a cut above. There are some songs I could've done without but the main theme is so good that you deal with some of the more generic cuts. Louis Thanawin is one of the better singers in Thai BL and the theme has a very smooth and catchy refrain that plays at all the right moments
The Bad:
The toilet humor. It wasn't funny when I was 10 and it still isn't funny now
Pond's stiff ass acting. I am an enjoyer of Pond's visual, but when he's not staring into Phuwin's eyes or damn near just playing himself, he's leaving a lot to be desired. I know Pangponds will @ me with all types of excuses but Pond isn't the first rookie actor in a lead role nor is he the first 19/20 year-old in a lead role. 15-year-old Ohm Pawat knocked it out of the ballpark in Make It Right, Pond just needs an acting coach--he clearly has potential (as evidenced by his argument/fight scenes with Neo)
The tragic mishandling of Bam. What the actual fuck was that? I thought ATOTS/1000stars had the dumbest 3rd Act of 2021, but turning Bam into a villain in the literal final minutes of the story 100% tops that. Hell, at least the village turning on Tian had been looming over the story since episode 1. This plot didn't even get any development. Not only did they give her a dumbass plot for irrelevant drama that was fixed in mere moments and had minimal impact on the story, they also played right into the 'evil girl is evil because she likes Top-coded character' trope. This is the second show that has misused Ms. Janhae and it's just getting weird at this point
The "character is ugly because they wear glasses and have braces" trope is annoying and will never make sense. Also, the fact that in the early episodes, Mork basically tells Pi that he likes him DESPITE the fact that he apparently has 11,000 flaws (including his braces/glasses-wearing) is mind-numbingly stupid and does absolutely nothing to help Pi's sense of self
Mork is lowkey creepy lmao. Let's be real most people excused Mork's creepiness because of the actor who played him. Not only does Pond seem like a sweet person but he might be the most handsome man on the planet. The fact that Mork was sneaking pictures of folks (a Thai BL staple lmao), finding out where Pi lives, and repeatedly showing up at Pi's house unprovoked is so strange when you really think about it. Add some ominous music to those scenes and suddenly you're no longer watching a romcom but a psychological thriller
A lot of people seemed to have issues with this show but I enjoyed almost every moment. It's the first BL I watched as it aired and I'm glad I did

BL- BOYS' LOVE:
Series: FISH UPON THE SKY & NEVER LET ME GO
PONDPHUWIN were almost NOT A THING. Word is this ship was set sail by director of FUTS.
Apparently NARAVIT LERTRATKOSUM [Nickname: POND] & TRAI NIMTAWAT [Nickname: NEO] were all set to play their roles of Sutthaya (Mork) and Dollawee (Duean)
However probably to continue with their chemistry from CAUSE YOU'RE MY BOY, PHUWIN TANGSAKYUEN was cast as Mork's brother Meen and THANAWIN TEERAPHOSUKARN [Nickname: LOUIS] was cast as Pi.
However the director didn't like the chemistry so PHUWIN audition with POND and it was a hit. So LOUIS & PHUWIN switch roles with PHUWIN taking on the lead role of Pi and Louis taking the role of Meen.
LOUIS & NEO went on their next BL together (THE ECLIPSE)
And POND & PHUWIN are currently doing their second BL Together (NEVER LET ME GO)

30 DAY BL DRAMA CHALLENGE DAY 18: BL DRAMA THAT WAS A MAJOR LETDOWN
Tumblr media
Fish Upon the Sky Director: Golf Sakon Wong Main Cast: Phuwin Tangsakyuen (Pi), Pond Naravit Lertratkosum (Mork), Neo Trai Nimtawat (Duean), Louis Thanawin Teeraphosukarn (Meen) Country of Origin: Thailand Available on: YouTube
It really coulda been a contender. It showed such promise, straight out the gate, with a strong premise, a winning cast and an engaging madcap style. Doing a sendup of BL almost, it walked the fine line between absurdism and bad taste for almost 4 episodes before starting to crash. But this show went off the rails so quickly and so comprehensively I still have whiplash. I guess I shouldn't have expected much from a JittiRain story.
I still maintain that lowbrow physical comedy is exceedingly difficult to pull off well and they started out pulling it off well! Even in the in betweens, the show had moments where there was a glimpse of a better show underneath all the horrid story and technical choices. Pi's 'date' with Mork in episode 7 is one of those glimpses, where you see just how lonely Pi has been and how little he actually wants and needs out of a friend but still can't seem to get. But every time there was a choice between the best story instincts and the worst possible, they chose the worst. EVERY time. Like, don't even get me started on the Mork character. And the whole Bam storyline. And the shippers. And then there was the brownface...
In short, this show got me excited and then not only failed to deliver on every level, but even worse what it DID deliver was some of the most horrendous toxic tropery and wasted potential I've ever seen on TV.
