#poll runners get so much shit and no matter what you do people are going to be upset about SOMETHING
Note
man idk I think u just want ur fave to move on :/ pitting hatchling against two separate ppl isn’t very fair. they deserved the win my dude. if theyre gonna sweep let em sweep
lmao something something “look what the lobocorp girlies have to do to mimic even a fraction of hatchling’s power” or whatever
ig hatchling is just so doomed by the narrative they had to get double teamed so they could lose. double doomed by the narrative eh
Okay so I wasn't going to answer this at first but just. Real quick. Have you ever run a tournament? Not sarcastic, genuine question, have you? Because these things are a LOT of work. Like, I was SHOCKED at how much goes into these
So of COURSE I'm going to be biased! It's my tournament! If I'm not biased, if I have no one I'm rooting for, then it becomes boring and I won't want to work on it anymore. So for me, yeah, I do want Lyf to win actually. What's the point of a poll if the runner isn't so invested in the topic that they have their own personal favorites? Idk it would just seem really tedious to me to set up brackets full of people I don't give a shit about, but that's just my perspective
I am not denying that Hatchling is completely doomed though! I genuinely thought they could pull through, and I think the only reason they didn't is because it seemed like the poll only hit the Outer Wilds community two days before it ended. Which, still, coming back from a 70/30 split to then be that close to making it 50/50 is incredible, props to the Outer Wilds fans!
As far as I can tell, Carmen and Lyf both come from very small communities. This is the first time in the entire tournament that the small guys actually had a shot, and I am sorry that the Hatchling couldn't pull through. In all honesty, even after they teamed up, I thought Lyf and Carmen were dead. I did NOT think they would survive even together. So this was more a pleasant surprise for me, and not really anything planned.
Feel free to make your own tournament though! I'd love to vote for the Hatchling!

no matter what i do, i can't seem to make you guys happy. i get told not to post the anons because they're full of hateful, racist remarks. i get told i'm enabling their behavior by hiding it from everyone. people complain that i don't post their propaganda in time. people complain that i posted their propaganda and somehow "made" their choice lose. i get told i should be more interactive with my followers. i get told that i talk too much and should shut up.
i really, genuinely enjoyed running this tourney at the beginning. it was fun and lighthearted and it was a way for me to celebrate all of the pink haired characters that i love. but now, three months into this experience, it oftentimes feels like a chore. i dread posting the polls because i know at least one person is going to say nasty shit to me. no matter how many anons i block, the hate continues to pour in. it's honestly exhausting.
please remember that poll runners are real people behind the screen. the shit you say and do has an impact on us. we are running these tourneys as a labor of love-- you are entitled to nothing; we do not owe you anything. if you're so angry over the outcome of a poll on tumblr.com that you feel the need to spew hateful shit in a poll runner's ask box, then you need to get off the internet. period.

Holy fuck, the Iowa Caucus
Okay so I want to break this down, mostly as a way to help myself make sense of it all.  If this helps other folks understand the time line of events, all the better.  My ‘sources’ are scattered and random, as I’ve been absorbing most of this stuff through osmosis and it’s super hard nailing down the ‘best’ link to something, given how fast all this is moving.
I will arbitrarily start my rant here.
BUTTIGIEG BLOCKS CRITICAL DES MOINES POLL
https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2020/02/iowa-poll-swiftly-spiked-after-buttigieg-campaign-issues-complaint
Shortly before the Iowa Caucus was to begin, the CNN/Des Moines poll was set to release. This is, apparently, a very important poll that a lot of the mainstream media (MSM) had already scheduled a lot of coverage for, as it would be a good indicator of the final state of things just before the election.
Then, Buttigieg campaign blocks its release. Why?  Well, their campaign claimed that one of the pollsters may have not been giving out Buttigieg’s name while calling out.  Not for any nefarious reason, just what is basically an IT issue.  This alone isn’t really too bad.  And, in a vacuum, not really worth too much fuss over.  Like, I do think it’s a bit weird that CNN would let all that money/effort go to waste over a single campaigns minor complaint, but, still, whatever.
The fact that the poll ended up getting leaked and was very favorable to Bernie (and VERY unfavorable to Biden) is another small annoyance.  It would have probably helped get a bit of positive / surprise coverage shortly before the caucus.  But again, whatever.
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/unreleased-final-iowa-poll-had-biden-in-fourth
Given what all ends up happening, it’s a just a prelude to some REAL hinky shit.
THAT FUCKING APP
So election day comes.  I and many others are tuned into various outlets.  We have the NYT and other vote trackers open, watching it all roll out.  Looks like it’s going good for Bernie.  Oh Boy!
Then, around 10PM, the numbers get pulled.  We’re told that some app that was being used to communicate the votes was messing up.  Numbers were going missing.  They aren’t adding up.  Tons of nonsense goes down.
The company that created the app is a company called Shadow (yes, really), which is part of a larger group called Acronym.  It is staffed by ex Clinton staffers and other failures closely tied to the establishment, so the app being a POS should not be a surprise to anyone.  Oh, and the company accepted over $42k from Buttigieg’s campaign.
https://www.truthorfiction.com/did-pete-buttigiegs-campaign-donate-42500-to-iowa-caucus-app-developer-shadow-inc/
It should be mentioned that this company and the people behind it will face no real repercussions.  Yeah ‘Shadow’ might go under, but and they might have temporarily lost a few contracts with the DNC.  But never underestimate how corrupt the democratic consultant class can be. They’ll be back to fuck some other shit up in no time.
Now, again, not trying to be conspiratorial here.  Maybe the vapid bougie fucks behind this had no ill intent.  Maybe their worst crime is being morons who did not test their software and accepted money unthinkingly.  But at the very least, their history as agents positioned against one of the front runners, and acceptance of money from one of the others, is a clear conflict of interest and should not have been allowed to happen.
Moving on.
BERNIE RELEASES INTERNAL NUMBERS, BUT BUTTIGIEG VICTORIOUS?
Sander’s campaign releases their internal numbers, showing they are leading by a solid 5 points.
https://twitter.com/reaIKevin/status/1224685920504504321/photo/2
The above is the best we had that night.
Then, Buttigieg ended up reporting that he was ‘victorious’.  This is obviously misleading at best, as he’d have no way of really knowing that.  It was just blustering.  An attempt to get ahead of the chaos and create The Narrative.
I won’t go into it right now, as this post is going to be long.  But, in the end, the truth is not nearly as important as what people believe.  If Pete can successfully insert the idea that he is winning, enough people won’t question it that you’ll gain some converts, regardless of it being untrue.  Now, MSM would (surprisingly!) criticize him, a bit, but not nearly enough to make it a bad play, strategically.  Pete is dangerous, because he’s the kind of guy that can identify an opening like this, see how it will play out, and shameless act on it.
When he got called out on it (again, surprisingly), he would later claim that he was being just being poetic / flowery, and didn’t mean to say that they had come in 1st and won, which is what victorious means. Pete’s lying, of course, because he is a liar who lies.
We’re getting head of ourselves.  Let’s see what happens the next morning...
CONTROLLING THE NARRATIVE
The party decides that they need to do a LOT of ‘quality control’, and it’s just too much to release all at once.  They need to do it small batches.  And the initial 62% they decide to first release excludes all the area’s where Bernie is doing the best.
https://twitter.com/joules1971/status/1225057375540916226/photo/1
Hey look, Pete’s fucking winning now (if you exclude all the poorer, urban, or minority focused areas)!  The numbers aren’t in yet, but it fits The Narrative, so who cares!
From then, past initial 62% release up to the 80-something-% yesterday, we at least have some data.  We can look past the noise and see that Buttigieg’s claim to victory is NOT based on the popular vote. It turns out that, even with the releases being poised against him, Bernie is still leading in both the 1st and 2nd round of voting.  The only thing he did not take is the SDE count, so they are end up tied for Delegates.  What are SDE’s?  They’re State Delegate Equivalents.  I’m not going to claim to understand how it works, as it is extremely arcane, but an easier way to think about it is that Bernie won the popular vote, but Buttigieg won some Iowa-based electoral college. And even there, is only winning by a slim margin.
It is very important to stress that the delegates from Iowa BARELY MATTER.  They’re not why Iowa is significant.  The reason we care at all is winning Iowa means you get positive press, and a news cycle dedicated to you.  Most voters do not pay much attention, and will generally vote for whoever they perceive to be winning.  And who they perceive to be winning is generally based on what the media tells them.
If the goal was to hurt whoever truly won the Iowa election, you would do exactly this.  You would you string along the release of info for as long as possible, so that either A) someone else gains the benefits of the election, based on misrepresenting, incomplete data OR B) folks stop paying attention.
Let’s stop and think.  A bunch of stuff has happened already.  Is it gross incompetence?  Or is there nefarious intent?  Both?  Does the DNC even deserve the benefit of the doubt, after all the shit that they are on the record pulling in 2016?
Let’s assume incompetence for now, and see if it’s even still possible to think that later.
The point is, Bernie was getting his (OUR) media cycle stolen, and Buttigieg is now starting to gain in the polls.
UH OH, MATH IS HARD!
It starts coming out that the totals we were getting were incorrect.
https://twitter.com/Harvard4Bernie/status/1225189173998411778
Bernie votes (and a few from Warren even!) were going to other candidates. Black Hawk County managed to break into the news cycle, but they were far from alone.
https://twitter.com/MCulshawMaurer/status/1225198291140268033
https://twitter.com/crulge/status/1225185093091840002
https://twitter.com/Banalization/status/1225199174171451393
https://twitter.com/MikePrysner/status/1225229056519503872
Turns out TONS of counties were seeing major discrepancies.  And, for some reason, all these errors and miscalculations were seeming to only break against Bernie.  In some areas, all of Bernie's votes going to fucking Deval or Steyer, who otherwise had basically no support.  The only reason we found out is because of local leaders that were smart enough to keep there own numbers, were paying close attention, and caught it.  If they hadn’t, we would have never known.  Now that’s what I call ~~~QUALITY CONTROL~~~~<3
I goes without saying that the DNC’s numbers at this point are EXTREMELY SUSPECT, and Bernie’s numbers are starting to look like they might be closer to the truth.  However, even with this blatant idiocy / corruption (your pick), Bernie still has the popular vote.
TOM PEREZ NEEDS TO RESIGN
That brings us to earlier today, 02/06.  97% of the votes are in.  Bernie is only down by 0.1 points in SDE’s, still will ahead in the popular vote, and we’re clearly going to win at this point.
https://twitter.com/micahuetricht/status/1225131303189852160
The remaining votes are coming from satellite locations, mostly minority groups.  These groups were pulled in by the Bernie campaign and with their support we would surely pull in that last 0.2 percent needed to win in EVERY metric.  There would be no way that the MSM or other campaigns could spin this.  Bernie Won!
Then, Tom Perez puts his foot down, sees Bernie Winning all these unfortunate, unforeseen issues, and decides it’s high time to pull the plug and start the whole thing over from the beginning.
https://twitter.com/TomPerez/status/1225468833458245632
Tom Perez, in case you don’t remember, has been in control of the DNC since 2017 but was an opponent of Sanders during the 2016, including him offering plans on how to best shiv Bernie that were discovered in the Podesta leaks.
https://wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/4429
Notably, he helped engineer the narrative that Bernie could only connect with white liberals (ie the Bernie Bros myth), which has been something the Bernie campaign has been able to successfully push back on until it is now not only untrue, but the exact opposite of the truth.  POC are the back bone of Bernie’s campaign!
https://twitter.com/CANCEL_SAM/status/1225566817889980418
ANYWAY, Tom Perez, sleazeball he is, decided to wait until just before we had crossed the finish line to pull this stunt.  This is a pretty transparent attempt to delay the results (and the left’s victory!) as long as possible.  It also achieves the goal keeping Pete out front and able to boost his polling going into the next states.  Which is so far working for them, gaining 6-9 points just this week in NH.
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/latest_polls/democratic_nomination_polls/
I don’t think anyone would be opposed to a recount, but there can be no reason to not release the last 3% (which they already had: (https://twitter.com/JennUWinn84/status/1225474355028746241).  It is overt, blatant corruption.
THE TAKE AWAY / WHAT DO WE DO?
- Don’t feel hopeless.  That’s what they want.
- It is super important that we not only win, but we need to win in CRUSHING numbers.  Because the DNC will pull every trick in the book to stop us, and we need to be ready.
- Paper. Fucking. Ballots.  You’re not a Luddite for wanting this.  It’s just the most practical, tamper-proof method. The app was a technocratic solution that was sold to the DNC, based on a problem they invented.
- More transparent oversight of our elections.   We invade South American countries due to electoral malfeasance with weaker pretenses then what just happened.
- Capitalists will always break fascist when confronted with the possibility of marginally higher taxes. ALWAYS.  For these reasons, If/When Bernie takes over the party, the DNC needs to be purged of EVERY LAST Reagan/Bush/Clinton era asset.  We don’t need them, they are not our allies, they will actively try to sabotage us, and for all these reasons and more unity with them is impossible.
- Do not play into the ‘VOTE BLUE NO MATTER WHO’ game.  It is not the time for that.  We are in the primary, and Bernie is the front runner.  The old arguments no longer apply, and no longer matter.
There are real fucking stakes here, and half/partial measures aren’t worth shit.  It doesn’t matter if YOU think you’re being principled by showing up to cast a vote for Bloomburg over Trump. Anyone other then Bernie will suppress the vote, full stop.  When people don’t vote, republicans win.  You will not be successful in holding poor / underprivileged people hostage and trying to activate them politically if all your promising them is the status quo, or wonky means tested BS.
- We’re winning!...
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2020-primary-forecast/
... But pretend we’re losing!  We can’t get complacent.
Ok that’s enough.  I have idea if anyone will read all this as I have like... four...? Followers?  Sorry for my rant, but it’s time to get politically engaged!

SnK S3E04 Poll Results (Manga Reader Version)
Tumblr media
The poll closed with 407 responses. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Please note that this is the results of the manga reader poll. Anime only watchers are suggested not to read if you do not wish to be spoiled about certain events! Anime only viewers, click here to view your poll results!
Rate the episode
Tumblr media
Overall, respondents gave the episode high ratings, with 90% total feeling that it was at least very good. The pollsters are very happy to see these ratings improve!
The episode felt short. I wanted more after watching it :)
The pacing of this episode was much better than the first two
We're only on episode 4 and about to enter the climax of the arc, not sure how I feel about this.
Very good. I hope that the skipped scenes appear in a later episode.
It was pretty neat. Sometimes stuff is a touch slow, but I know it’s all a lead up to what’s to come, and like, it’s important to have stuff that is slow sometimes so the big stuff feels even bigger.
This recent episode found a little boring to me. I feel like there's wasn't much action less Levi
Bruh I need the next episode like rn
Did you notice the subtle changes made to the animation in the OP this week?
Tumblr media
Less than a quarter of respondents initially noticed that there was something different about the OP this week. However, just over half noticed them upon a second watch or seeing it pointed out by others.
I didn't notice the changes in the opening because I always skip it.
Which of the following scenes were your favorites?
Tumblr media
Hange and Moblit taking out the MP’s won by a good margin. The runner up is Spider-Hange. Levi and Mikasa reacting to Kenny’s last name, Levi interrogating the Central MP and Jean testing Marlowe and Hitch were also very loved moments!
The moments between Jean and Marlowe is one of my favorites. That was really fantastic and Marlowe is going to be a wonderful SC member. Too bad he will die later. I was really upset about it while reading the manga. He was such promising and brave guy.
I enjoyed the moment when Erwin asked Nile about Marie. It felt like he still had some feelings to her. I wonder if they're going to go back to this topic later (in flashbacks). Probably not.
This episode was so fucking amazing after the exposition heavy episode 3! I have literally waited years to see Hange taking down that MP animated, shit, the way she just casually like ducks away from the bullet... I used to keep staring at the badassery in that manga panel and now I am watching it on repeat, Wit got that scene so perfectly right!!
My whole life has lead up to this moment with Hitch and Marlo!!! Bless WIT for doing so good by my precious MP!
It was hilarious when 3MPs ran on the ground to chase Flegel while they are equipping ODMG. It was even funnier when one of them cried for joy catching Flegel without using ODMG.
Faithful to the manga with a healthy combination of action and world-building. LOVED Flegel's "I'm the boss" scene.
Erwin’s VA was superb! I was close to tears during the scene when he and Nile were talking.
Who made the best face when ambushing the MP base?
Tumblr media
Connie won by a landside! There was no contest here, folks.
How bangable was Levi this episode on a scale of 1-5?
Tumblr media
As expected, over half of respondents would love it if Levi totally wrecked them. Although there are still quite a few of you who would rather he not.
LEVI DADDY PLEASE STEP ON ME!
Levi in the moonlight was everything I never knew I needed.
Levi cutie crazy ass bitch
Levi. Le-vi. LEVI.
On a scale of 1-5, how distressed were you to see Erwin beat up and chained?
Tumblr media
More than half of respondents are anxious to see Commander Handsome out of chains and cleaned up!
How Erwin can kneel before them on his own? When he knows how horrible they are that they made decisions that killed his father? How can he be like that? Oh just take my heart away already! It's not that I need it…
Also, seeing my husband all beat is tragic and seeing him hanging was far too distressing and I know what’s going to happen in this season, but I want to pretend it isn’t happening and that he might be happy when he reunites with Levi
Erwin also manages to look hot not matter how beat up he is, which isn't even fair.
I love Erwin and he deserves the world.  That is all.
Are you feeling better or worse about the season so far?
Tumblr media
Most voters either felt great about the season from the beginning or have started to warm up to it a lot more! There is still a small percentage of those who are still unsure or unhappy, however.
Feeling alright overall about it but disappointed about some parts being rushed/skipped
I did not like the first two episodes, but now that the pacing has slowed I’m starting to like the episodes better. Still salty about the first two though.
I knew I was going to love it just because it's AOT, but I won't know how much I love it until I've seen how they handle the RtS arc
I havent feel good, still dont feel good but its better than before, so a combo of the 2nd and 4th option
I'm loving the episodes, but I'm still unure about some of the removed scenes, specially the ones involving Historia and Levi COS i swear to dead Marco if they do not animate Levi's smile im gonna riot
I'll wait until this arc is over to cast any judgement. However, I do wish they would've expanded the Reeves' storyline. It kinda fell flat for me in the anime.
Was unsure at first with all the changes from the manga, but have come to accept that some things are gonna be different so I'm just gonna enjoy it as it is. At the end of the day, it's still Attack on Titan so I'll always enjoy it.
I’m just happy we’re getting this season at all
I never thought they could make the uprising arc funny and interesting
Instead of attacking the Centrap MP HQ, Squad Levi ambushed a small outpost on the outskirts of Trost instead. Did you like this change?
Tumblr media
Nearly half of respondents were okay or even preferred this change. 36% are let down that there was no slicing and shooting though. Chin up guys, the cave is coming soon!
I always thought it was a little confusing that squad Levi would go all the way out to the central base, so I think this made more sense because of how they're still on the run. The anime version feels a lot more like they could be caught at any second, which is great!
I was looking forward to the 104th's subtle distressed reactions after having done what they had to do. But I guess the anime is not for subtle.
I'm not sure if replacing the newfound edge from the SC by a lulzy moment was a right choice. I feel like we're losing the grim aspect of the SC not being good guys anymore.
I didn't even remember how the manga handled that, so I didn't notice the change.
I honestly like both situations
While i did want to see the gang cut up peoples legs,  the anime version made more sense and I'm down for any Springlestein.
While the cart charge was hilarious, I'm not sure why a small outpost would know anything about Eren and Historia's location.
I quite honestly didn't notice the difference, the real attraction was Levi fucking the old boy's shit up
While I hopedd they'd make it bigger, after watching the episode I grew to like it, it makes sense both geographically and in terms of the scale of the event.
Oh lol I totally expect them to go ahead and get the Central MP HQ next. I mean, didn't they also do that so that the MP's couldn't mobilise and come to Kenny/Rod's defense later on?
Were you expecting there to be more focus on the press?
Tumblr media
Most respondents were expecting to get Hange’s talk with the press prior to exposing the Military Police. A few are certain it’s lost not, while a good 30% are hopeful that we’ll still get it in another way.
By making the newspaper Trost local, their presence didn't need to be explained, and some aspects from their talk from 60 can be merged with the little moment from the Rookie from 61 after Erwin's trial so as to not be redundant.
The talk with Hange and the press will no doubt happen next episode.
Having a flashback would be good, but I don't have much faith in them doing it
Indifferent to it, doesn't make much difference to the overall plot.
we will get them though not in a flashback half the arc has been rearranged remember.
I NEED Hange brooding on a desk in the press office, it's an important part of my spiritual development
I hope we get more Peaure :(
Which scene from the PV are you most looking forward to next week?
Tumblr media
At 41%, the largest group is most anticipating getting a flash of Frieda in the mirror. It’s about time we get to see her in anime form after all these years, right? The remaining three scenes are at an even split.
Since we’re getting Frieda in the mirror, do you think there will be a flashback to the conversation about Eren’s experiments?
Tumblr media
To build off of the previous question, over half of respondents are anticipating the potential for the bedside flashback to happen after all. 35% are optimistic that it will definitely happen, while 11% believe we’re getting Frieda flash in another way.
I'm hoping the Frieda content doesn't come across as too rushed in the next few episodes. In the manga, almost a year passed between the first Frieda flashbacks and Rod's full story in the chapel underground, but it seems Frieda's anime debut will be only an episode or two before the story. Still looking forward to how it all plays out!
Where do you primarily discuss the series?
Tumblr media
Additional thoughts on the episode?
*chanting* STICK! STICK! STICK! STICK!
the changes are fine, doesn't stray too far from the manga. Maybe also makes the anime less of a drag.
Connie had goofy hat. All my stanards has been pleased.
Finally the pacing slowed down to a human level. I'm happy to see so much of Erwin, but it still pains me how he is characterized.
HITCH WITH THE STICK HOLY HELL. Honestly that whole fight scene between Hitch, Marlowe and Jean exceeded my expectations (hopefully not sounding too much like a worshiper). I just love it (probably too much).
Hanji can punch me and I’ll thank her
I MISS EREN AND HISTORIA
I can't believe Flegel sat on the dude's face lol.
Why did Not!-Marco not look like Marco at all?
I don't have a great memory of manga events but I'm feeling shocked - as though the anime is really rushing through events, so I feel worried now!
I love it. The animation when Hanji and Moblit attacked the MP was spectacular. The animators have continuously outdone themselves this season so far.
I'm not sure about my feelings and impressions about this season so far. I got disappointed before with other mangas adaptations, and now, I don't feel like trusting WIT for the moment, until I see some logical modifications.
When it was announced that there would be changes made I was skeptical and thought that the manga was perfect the way it was. Oh boy was I wrong. While I am still angry about some scenes, others just make more sense. I think wit is doing a great job.
Only thing that makes me sad is that Armin's glorious gesumin expressions weren't animated till now.
Honestly so excited to 24 episodes this time not 12. But still proper sick episode.
I've mentioned it on Tumblr before, but while I like how things have been centralized around Trost in this version of Uprising, it does cause an issue. How did Erwin, his captors, and Nile all get from Trost to Mitras in the space of a single morning? They military police either has teleporting tech or an underground bullet train. Or Isayama really wants to replicate S7 of Game of Thrones with characters teleporting all over.
NEXT EPISODE WE’L GET OUR ACKERTALK!!!!!! Eeeeek!!!
No Kenny?! So what kind of episode was that?!
I enjoyed this chapter a lot. Can´t wait to see Eren again.
Well fuck. Manga readers, we know what happens at the reiss chapel
Thank you to everyone who participated! We’ll see you again on Monday!

Smoke’s Last Show
The screen flicked from black to neon green mixed with pink. Smoke's logo, an obnoxious smiling face that turned to smoke, faded in on top of the garish background.
“Good evening ladies and gentlemen, bio-roids and clones, naturals and synthetics, and everyone in between. Welcome to tonight's episode of Net Mercur, the only show NBN doesn't want you to watch! We've got a very special program for you tonight. I, your gracious, magnanimous, and certainly clever host will be doing a live speedrun on Jack Weyland's private servers in outer space. We're going to be breaking laws and breaking hearts tonight, and I got a good feeling we'll break Mac's number one in the world record too. But first let's take a look at the rig I'll be using:”
Black again, then some lights coalesced into the wispy silhouette of a cat. “This lil' cutie is the first of my breakers, first in my heart, and first in this morning's Net Mercur Subscribers' poll as to what you wanted to see me use on this speedrun. Remember paid subscribers get exclusive access to all sorts of great bonus content, including these polls. Now this is something of a rescue I saved from some stimheads down in La Costa but let me tell you her code is robust. I've spent all afternoon tinkering with her I'm very excited to see what kind of damage this kitty can do now that I've reclawed her. She's certainly bad luck for any sysop that crosses her path.”
The cat on the screen growled and then pounced through the camera.
Next an explosion of virtual sparks illuminated the screen then died out. Again the sparks exploded but now the camera pulled back to reveal a massive cylinder of light crashing down with immense energy creating the bursts of sparks.
“Now this here's a real treat for you that my own R&D group cooked up. This breaker is some industrial level shit and it will level the entire server to get past a gotcha bot. In fact I got a dummy server rigged up here with some *ahem borrowed corporate ice, just so you can really get an idea of how much fuckin damage this thing can do. I've put three, yes that's right three, top of the line, corporate bullies back to back to back for... demonstration purposes. Remember kids, DO try this at home, school and anywhere else with a net connection.
The cylinder rotated ninety degrees and accelerated to ramming speed passing effortlessly through some cyber constructs, shattering them completely.
“Oh ho ho, that was brutal. I cannot wait to drop this bad boy on some ice that can actually feel pain.” “To round out this trio I brought in something professional, because while I am serious about putting on a good show for you I am also serious about my own safety online. And I'm serious about wanting to break Mac's record! So feast your eyes on something real juicy.” The screen remained black, but the blackness seemed to shift and move in subtle shades. Suddenly a bright clear blade of light flashed across the screen and disappeared, resheathed in the void. “Did you see that?! This is what the pros use, obviously, because I'm using it and I'm the only pro you know. It's practically undetectable and it just provides targeted assassinations of any piece of code that so much as pings me funny. Normally you wouldn't be able to get your hands on something like this. I only got  it because I know people who know people. That's right, even the pro runners are fans of my casts, and I mean why wouldn't they be?”
“Last but not least, I'll be running these killas, thrillas, and chillas, off some top of the line hardware. You all know my lovely console: 128 pentabytes of processing power, basically infinite amounts of memory, and just like me she's got super-coolant ice running through her veins.” “Alright we're about ready to get this show on the road. Let's go over the rules: Today's targets are Jack Weyland's private servers in remote orbit. To prove we done the deed we have to both take something and leave something. I got this handy-dandy little 'fuck you' some of the trashiest, nastiest, little virus that we're going to gift to Mr. Beanstalk. Hopefully it doesn't jettison his O2 supply into deep space, or hopefully it does, I don't really care. Mac's current, and the world's record is twenty-two minutes, thirty-five seconds, seventy-eight milliseconds, and fifty nanoseconds. The timer starts when I first log in. I also need a witness to verify that I beat Mac's record and I figure vidding it to the entire network should be good enough. For all you code babies out there I'll try to keep you all in the loop as to what's going on, but I am going to be pretty deep in the tank on this run. Let's get to it, shall we?” A three second countdown flashed on the screen. Two. One. A rush of colours and shapes blossomed into as Smoke connected to the Network. “And we're off! First step is we gotta find a connection from Earth to Mars, that's easy. This is a Weyland-themed run so we'll bounce through Blue Sun's servers to go from earth to Luna and Luna to Mars. Oh if you didn't see that, that was a piece of trash ice that garbage sysops run and that my kitten just put in its rightful place in the slagheap. I could erase everyone's electricity bills while I'm in here, but that's not what we're doing today. Anyways we're on Luna now so I'm going to be getting almost a full second of lag, but that's no problem for me. Best way to deal with this is to read just be able to read the future, like I can. Alright here's some ice with some teeth, let's knock them out shall we? Ooh that looked like it hurt, and it hurt the guy behind him too. Anyways so we're on Mars now, the latency is getting bad, but it's only going to get worse the deeper we go. From here we gotta go through Weyland's Martian HQ which will be about the only server receiving direct transmissions from Jacky-boy's deep space station. We're going to piggy-back one of those signals to get to the finish line. We're at, let's see, eight and a half minutes so we are making excellent time. Now they don't got laws on Mars against the dangerous ice that can cause permanent brain damage so we gotta be real careful here. Or we would if all there ice were still alive to do some damage. Didn't see that coming did ya? We're into Weyland's 'secure' Martian deep space communications but before I start the piggy back, remember when I mentioned the latency? Well it's basically unfeasible past this point so I have to set my breakers to launch a little preemptive strike once we hit the space station. But with these beasts daddy-Weyland won't know what hit him. Let's lock down this puppy. We're piggy-backing the signal. Wait for it. And bang! Uh what's going on here. Where's the damage? Where's the ice? Fuck I can't do anything. What is that?” The screen which had been a nigh-incomprehensible blur of colours and motion halted jaggedly. A wall of eyes opened up and no matter which way the camera turned it was always being watched. The breakers launched themselves violently at the offending pupils but simply phased through harmlessly. Meanwhile Smoke started yelling.
“Shit! Kill the feed, jack me out! Shit they know where we are. Oh fuck, we're tagged. Someone get me ou-” The audio went dead and the camera stopped moving, but for anyone still watching the cast the walls of unblinking eyes stared on. Half an hour later the vid-feed finally died out too.
Smoke stopped the recording, finished emptying the Net Mercur Subscribers' Account of credits and started wiping her presence from all the hardware. “My best performance yet, but it's time I moved on.”

Political Swizzlestick: The ethical problem the Bloomberg candidacy presents for Dems.
I wanted to blow off the prospect of Micheal Bloomberg being the democratic nominee when he announced his candidacy. “Feh!” I arrogantly scoffed, “You think America’s going to rush to vote for another New Yorker?! Ha!  Typical New York Media overrating their local candidate’s chances.  You still have to connect with the rust belt voter.”
But time has smacked sense into me.
Bloomberg was at 19% nationally with Dems, sight unseen.
Nobody outside of New York knew a damn thing about him, but 19% of America had seen enough commercials to say, “That guy I’ve never seen before....he’s my guy!”
That is crazy.
But that’s kind of where we are in America.  Do the majority of Trump Supporters know all of the things he has done?  Can they tell you his position on any number of issues?  No... But they know he drives Democrats crazy. The moderate segment of their support had been somewhat underwhelmed by the Obama-Biden management of the economy, so if it drives Dems crazy, he must be taking the country in the right direction that businesses want to go...right?
“He’s a businessman and the unemployment rate is at record lows.”  is what they’d say if pressed. We have always measured the health of the economy by the unemployment rate so we have to do so now.
They are just as ignorant to the vast majority of their guy’s views as we are of our candidates.
In a world where no one cares about details, why couldn’t Bloomberg win?
If the race is two shady New York businessmen against each other and one is worth maybe a billion by now and the other is worth $64 Billion, is Donald trump going to be able to lord his economic knowledge over Bloomberg?  No. Bloomberg will treat him like a peon.  If Bloomberg says, “You aren’t a businessman, you are a con man. I am surprised you haven’t throttled the economy yet.  Step aside an let someone who actually understands how to succeed in business run this country.” it resonates with moderates everywhere.
You could legitimately see Trump supporters jump ship.  Every trump fan I know likes Bloomberg and thinks “that’s the guy the Dems should run.”  He fits their idea of what they want as a president.  Is it difficult to see 1-4% of them jumping ship to escape the Trump sideshow? Not at all.
Donald  trump lost more money than any other American over a 20 year period.  Bloomberg is without a doubt a successful businessman.  Donald Trump looks very much like a failure in business compared to him over a 3 month or so lead up to the election.
I am late to the game. A lot of people on the Democratic side have pointed at this very thing and proclaimed Bloomberg the Dems best hope.  I am inclined to agree now after looking at the financial picture and how easily voters can be swayed by a simple advertising campaign.
Bloomberg takes away all of trump’s best arguments. Business expertise?  Not even close.
Trump uses his lack of morality to dig at the political correctness that Dems foolishly cling too.  There is every reason to believe that Bloomberg is so rich that morality largely no longer applies to him.  Any mistake or lack in judgement can be erased with a check.  Donald Trump is not going to be able to use his lack of morality as a weapon against Bloomberg. And frankly since Dems would have voted for this guy, that is a tacit acknowledgement that morality doesn’t matter to the Dems either.
Want to smear Bloomberg with an ad campaign?  Bloomberg can run 10 commercials with Trump’s voice talking about grabbing women by the pussy and showing all the women who tried to sue Trump in the 2016 election for every one trump can run.  Literally every 15 minutes you could hear Donald trump talking on TV about grabbing women by the pussy. You think that wouldn’t have a cumulative effect?
Really all you have to do is move 1-2% from the trump column to the anti-trump column in say 6 states and that is the election.
“But the Bernie Bros will revolt!”  What if Bloomberg make Bernie VP?  Does Bloomberg care who is his VP? At all? Bernie is an old warhorse who has been selling his rhetoric to no one in particular for 40+ years. You think he would turn down being a heartbeat from the presidency?  Bloomberg is an old dude too. If Bernie has a legitimate seat with power like the VP job, you won’t lose any Bernie fans.  They have seen Bernie get screwed out entirely by the DNC.  This would be an acceptable loss for them.  “We may have lost the battle, but we won the war”.
Bernie Bros aren’t running against Trump....not yet anyway.... they are running against the DNC.
Bloomberg is worth $64 Billion.  He spent $200 Million LAST MONTH. That is 1/320th of his wealth. That spending is almost double what Bernie (the Democratic front runner) has had in his entire account this election.
Let’s say you were fairly well to do and between 40 and 80.  How much of your money would you be willing to spend to cross “get elected president” off your bucket list? How much would you spend if you were in your late 70′s?   30% of your wealth? 40% of your wealth? More?
If Bloomberg spent 30% of his wealth that would be $19.2 Billion dollars.
Hillary spent $585 Million in 2016. Donald Trump spent $350M and has roughly $240 Million donated so far for 2020.
Let’s say Trump end up with $600M.  Bloomberg would in his $19.2 Billion have 32 times the amount of money.
So lets say Donald Trump runs a TV ad of Bloomberg not wanting to release former employees from non-disclosure agreements. Bloomberg could run 32 TV ads with the clip of Donald trump weirdly fondling his daughter as she sits on his lap and Trump talking about how if he wasn’t her dad he’d be all over that.
Think we couldn’t get there?
Don’t count on it.
If you watched the last debate you saw the democrat’s Donald Trump on stage.  A win at all cost guy.
Now I have long bemoaned that the democratic party is run by a lot of folks who proudly display their participation ribbons.
The GOP tells the Dems, “You can’t do that!  It is a betrayal of our country!” then the next time there is a GOP president he does exactly that and the Dems say, “Gorsh, you got us again, lol!”
It drives me nuts and is even worse by the fact that the GOP has a guy in Trump who could give a shit about any of the social norms and is playing a win at all costs game, damn the constitution!
But do we truly want to run a “win at all cost” guy? Are we willing to turn a blind eye to the obvious disdain Bloomberg has for the common man’s opinion to get trump out?
Are Dems and left leaning voters willing to embrace a guy who doesn’t even want to say how many non-disclosure agreements he has had to payoff to buy ex-employee’s silence?  And let me assure you, if they were all off color jokes as he claimed, Bloomberg would have just released them all and taken the momentary polling hit. You could argue that a business has non-disclosure agreements to protect business information but Bloomberg himself admitted his non-disclosure agreements were to protect his bad behavior.
For him to insist no one would be released suggests there is what would be a career ending story for someone whose budget for this election wasn’t potentially larger than the combined budgets of the last 30 presidential elections.
This guy is so out of touch he doesn’t even understand what people want him to apologize for about his policy of targeting the African American community in New York City for shake downs of their kids.
If you watched the debate you saw a guy who was not all that dissimilar to trump who wants to be president. That is clearly goal 1. I think there is a lot of evidence that unlike trump, Bloomberg isn’t running to profit off the presidency and legitimately wants to do right by America. I think he legitimately does want to put an end to all of the Trump nonsense, but he still seems like a guy we would deem morally unfit in any election prior to the slimeball derby of 2016.
I am not advocate for purity tests, but this isn’t a purity test.  If we were looking for angels we wouldn’t have let him in the door.  Frankly we wouldn't have let any of these people in. Which is why I'm glad that we don't have purity tests.
My question is are we truly at a point where we can accept running a lesser demon against another lesser demon just because we think he would likely be favored to win and willing to do whatever it took to win?
Are we willing to elect a guy who we really have no idea what he is going to do in office just to get rid of Trump?  He could easily be just as disdainful of the constitution.....We don’t know and the early returns are we don’t care.
Are we willing to turn a total blind eye and be just as hypocritical as the Republican voters we have vilified for the last 3 years?
Are we willing to potentially forever destroy any argument by either side that ethics matter in a president? Are we willing to say that no American voters at all care about fair play and moral behavior?
Or are we willing to stand on principles and risk defeat with a more morally acceptable candidate like Bernie, Tom, Elizabeth, or Joe who might be at best 50/50 propositions against Trump?
I'll make it personal.  Am I willing to betray all the women out there who have ever been shit on by, feilded unwelcome propositions from , or been ridiculed by their bosses at work for better odds that we'll get Trump out of office?  I am half Jamaican.  Am I willing to betray solidarity with the greater african American community which finds this man unacceptable, for better odds?
Am I willing to sell my soul for 4 years for better odds?  Am I willing to look in the mirror and loathe the face looking back for 4 years just for better odds?
Melania says "Be Better". I want to be but after 3 years of this shit, the apple that snake is holding looks so...so... good.
I don’t have the answer.  All I’ve got are the questions.

The Last Touchstone
FRI FEB 14 2020
So, since my last entry, it’s been... I would call it, a, “noisy,” news week.
What I mean by that is... there was one big story... and then there were a string of other stories, with a different narrative, which, I sense were being pushed to drown out the one big story.
The one big story was... Bernie Sanders decisively became the front runner for the Democratic nomination.  He won New Hampshire... with Joe Biden placing 5th... and Polls afterward had him not only taking California and Texas in the near future, but also the easy winner of the nomination.
And though this got a bit of coverage in the media, and made newspaper headlines... it was split screened, at the very least, or totally drowned out later in the week, by obsessive coverage of Trump doing exactly what we expected him to be doing, after being acquitted by the Senate... which also was exactly what we expected the Senate to do.
He started by firing Vindman and Sondland, who testified against him to the House.  Who thought they were going to keep their jobs after that?  I didn’t.  Did they?
Then Barr of course, pressured the DOJ team who’d been prosecuting Roger Stone, to recommend a sentence half what they were planning on (7 to 9 years) after an angry tweet from Trump... a move which caused every member of that prosecution team to resign from the case, or quit the DOJ altogether.
That’s clearly an abuse of power on Trump’s part, but it’s exactly the same kind of shit he was doing before the impeachment... and Barr obeyed him exactly as he always does.  This was not new or surprising... except for the fact that the prosecution all resigned immediately.
That’s the headline, and if anything, it thwarts Trump and Barr, because it halts the sentence recommendation, and give the Judge (as well as the House) time and cause to look into possible wrongdoing from the AG... and Barr could soon face his own impeachment trial, or be forced to resign.
At any rate, in my book it seems Trump’s impeachment did nothing but hurt him here, as it put a spotlight on this nefarious behavior which would otherwise have happened in the shadows... and punctuated how wrong his acquittal was, thus hurting his loyals in the Senate.
Okay, but the mainstream media focused on Trumps retaliatory actions as if they were unprecedented, and took the fear mongering angle that he was becoming an autocrat... and what the hell are we gonna do now?..
...to the exclusion of any meaningful coverage on the contest to decide Trump’s 2020 opponent... for which there is now a clear front runner, as well as a couple more strong candidates.
They don’t want to look at that contest, because the candidates they wanted to oppose Trump... Biden, or if not Biden, then Warren... are both doing miserably in these early primaries, and will both probably drop out before March is over.
So instead of talking about the candidates who are doing well, with Sanders leading the pack... they’d rather fear monger about Dictator Trump, and hope that voters will pick up, from their silence about the primaries... that all hope is lost, unless Biden and/or Warren can be raised from the dead.
What exactly do I mean by fear mongering?
I’ll give Rachel Maddow as an example here... but bear in mind that I’ve been watching her regularly since 2017 and in all that time, have been a biggggg fan of hers.  Loved her!  Praised her!
But this week she did a segment about Trump’s post acquittal retaliations in which she was uncharacteristically hysterical.
She said that the resignations of the DOJ prosecutors for Stone, after Barr pulled rank on them because of a Trump tweet, were meaningless... because all resignations in protest are meaningless now... because everybody in the Executive Branch who have stood up to Trump, from them, to Vindman and Sondland, to Bolton, to everybody... she listed everybody...
...have had their lives, “destroyed,” by Trump.
This... made me physically gag to hear her assert it, in such an animated, alarmist tone... for two big reasons;
1) No their lives were not destroyed.
2) No matter what they suffer, it’s part and parcel of taking the oath.
On the first point... he fired them.  They lost nice jobs paying good money.  Oh no!  Every single one of them will land on their feet... if not by retiring on the piles of  money they already have, then by just getting other jobs, or by writing books, doing the lecture circuit, being political pundits on MSNBC... the opportunities for these people are endless.
To say that their lives have been destroyed is a gigantic insult to people’s who’s lives have been destroyed, either by unjust presidential policies of the past, by putting them in jail (war on drugs), putting them out on the street (economic policies), deporting them, etc... OR... their lives have been literally ended by going off to war to fight for our constitution with actual guns in actual battles against armed combatants.
Which leads to the second point... they took the same oath as any member of the military.
We say that Vindman and Sondland were brave... but they were doing their fucking jobs, according to the oath everybody takes when they take a job with the Executive Branch.  Same for these prosecutors who resigned.
It’s not bravery to stand by an oath you took when entering public service.  It’s cowardice to do anything but.
I’ve said this before, and I need to say it again, there is nothing in the oath to defend our constitution that says, “unless it’s really inconvenient, or could cause you undo public embarrassment on social media, or could force you to retire and live off your fortune before you were ready.”
And for Rachel Maddow, of all people, to imply that the relative inconvenience these people have suffered standing up to a real constitutional menace... is too high a price to pay, and that therefore, such stands in the future are meaningless now... is truly galling... given the powerful megaphone she used to say it.
Nowhere in that segment did she say, “But don’t worry, because we have some good Democratic candidates to vote for to put an end to this nightmare just a few months from now.”
It was unmitigated fear mongering... coming from a state of deep denial about where the American public is actually going in 2020... and done in a desperate attempt to raise centrism from its grave.
Because 20th Century style centrism... and the status quo capitalism that goes along with it... is the bread and butter of Rachel Maddow, as well as her mainstream journalist colleagues.
This same week, Chris Matthews stated fears that if Bernie were president, there would be public lynchings of the elite in Times Square, and Chuck Todd likened Bernie supporters to, “brown shirts,” a statement that got him a slap in the face by the Anti Defamation League... likening Bernie, a Jew, who grew up with holocaust survivors, to Hitler.
In short, Centrists are terrified of Trump, on the one hand, because they are fantastically over blowing the significance of his Senate acquittal (which I’ve already covered is par for the course in a Presidential impeachment, but never saves the impeached party from immediate retirement) and fearing he will throw them all in Guantanamo next week... now that he has no checks at all on his awesome power (his approval ratings are always shit, nearly 80% of the public wants him removed, the courts hate his guts, one half of congress hates him, and the other half is up for reelection).
On the other hand Bernie Sanders, if elected, will command his brown shirts to hang them all in Times Square, because they have comfortable livelihoods.
These are mostly boomers, by the way, and boomers are the generation who invented centrism... this philosophy of being sympathetic to social justice issues, but also sympathetic to conservative financial concerns... give me my huge paycheck, and McMansion in my gated community, and keep my taxes low... but also... hey, racism is bad and gays are people too!
For boomer centrists, it’s about... staying true to your teenage rebellious phase, when you protested the man, because it was cool... but also enjoying the life of the man... and the system the man made for you... it’s a balance.
There are a lot of conservative folks to the right of center, so... it’s easy to go a bit left and just... balance that out.  But keep the see-saw level!  Center!  Level!  Balance!
In the closing paragraph of my last entry, In so many words, I argued that Trump has concentrated so much weight... so far right of center... that the only way to counter it now... is to get further left.
But, when you’re a centrist... any change is inconvenience, and any inconvenience is equivalent to having your life destroyed!
We’re not supposed to live in history... we’re only supposed to use history as a way to impose our centrist views on everybody, to keep it from changing!
They obsess over two periods of time... WW2, and the 1960s.  In the former era, some generation of sad souls gave their lives to put down totalitarianism around the globe and keep the world free.
In the latter... another unfortunate generation... (the Silent Generation for the most part), endured all kinds of horrors (including high profile assassinations to JFK, RFK, and MLK) to secure the civil rights we all enjoy today.
All of this was selflessly done to settle all the major problems in life... for us!.. the people who don’t have to be inconvenienced by history anymore :D
And if any candidate, or social issue has ever threatened to upset that... well... they just analyze WW2 at everybody... and analyze the 1960s at everybody... until the problem slinks away into the shadows of shame.
This is why Bernie will be hanging the elites in Times Square, and why Trump is already an all powerful Hitler... and also why the only person who can save us is the former VP of Obama... because without Hillary Clinton in the race... Biden is the last touchstone of the world they knew.
It wasn’t always a world they liked... with Reagan and Bush pulling their naughty conservative shenanigans during their allotted terms on the Presidential see saw... but it was a world where the corrupt ones... the Nixons, stepped down.
Despite the political cold snaps and heat waves, over the long run, life always remained stable.
Just like the climate!
And, just as climate change is the result of boomer centrism constantly ignoring the warning signs, because to acknowledge them would result in inconvenience...
...so too, we can see pretty clearly in February of 2020... Trump’s Presidency itself was the result of these same people gate-keeping Bernie Sanders out of the nomination process in 2016.
I’ll state that again for emphasis;
Trumps Presidency was the result of centrists gate-keeping Bernie Sanders out of the 2016 nomination process.
This was done by the DNC putting their thumb on the scales in a few key primaries to favor Clinton... and in the General election it was done by overwhelming press coverage, assuring everybody that Clinton was going to win the Presidency by a landslide.
The former action had the result of alienating an organic grassroots movement of progressive voters across the nation.  The latter, convinced them to stay home, because they were not needed, while simultaneously daring Trump supporters to come out and vote, because they would not matter.
And having learned nothing, they meant to go right back to that same script this time around, with Biden.
But it’s not an option this time around... and they’re having nervous breakdowns about it.  Huge, panic ridden nervous breakdowns, calling for everybody to just give up hope.
All of this said... and with the hour growing late...
Bernie was right, in his victory speech in New Hampshire, to point out that he’s put together a grass roots coalition which is multiracial, and multigenerational. It doesn’t depend on any one demographic, because it has significant voting power coming from all of them... and it’s not gonna be easily swept aside, either by billionaires, or mainstream neglect, or Trump power stunts... because it does have roots... it has real weight... and he’s in the lead... and gaining momentum.
Okay, that’s enough for one entry.
I’ve got work in the morning.

NYC General Election Endorsements November 2017
Tumblr media
Oh yes, y’all, strap in. Another long one awaits. I am not weighing in on every race here; there’s too much for me to keep track of and there’s a lot I don’t know. Especially in city council races, it’s so local that it’s hard to keep track if you’re too far away. It’s also true that a lot of these races aren’t that contested (have you changed your party affiliation?), so there isn’t much to say. In races where there is a clear front runner, even if I kind of hate them, I’m not bothering to weigh in.
I also am noticing two things about these endorsements: one, that there are two places where I recommend a male upstart over an existing female candidate; two, that I am clearly biased against incumbents. I’m not quite sure what to do with either of those things, but I wanted to name them as important. The city council stands to lose several women this time around, and while my feminism isn’t as simplistic as “women are automatically the best candidate,” I am still unsure what role misogyny is playing here, especially when incumbency means you have more to be hated for.
Want to know who’s on your ballot? Go here. Want to know where you vote? Go here. Polls are open 6am to 9pm so you really have no excuse.
Finally: when in doubt, write in Beyoncé.
Tumblr media
Mayor: Write in Beyoncé I can’t in good faith say vote for Bill de Blasio. He just hasn’t done enough good. The approval of the Bedford Armory redevelopment is just the latest fuckery in his “affordable housing” plan; he has the stank of corruption around him. He’s done some cool things but a lot of those cool things were already in process. Short of some kind of freak occurrence, he’s going to win (I’m not even going to bother looking up the correct spelling of his GOP opponent’s last name, it’s like that) and so you might as well write someone in. Beyoncé gets shit done. She would be ruthlessly effective and the longer she goes the more politicized she becomes. If we’re going to live in an oligarchy, I want my billionaire overlord to be the one that sunk a police car in a music video.
Public Advocate: Team Tish! I like what Tish James has done for us. I feel like I am waiting for the romance to be over and it’s possible I’ve missed some things. But she’s been a good public advocate, has stuck up for people, and I feel an overall sense of goodwill about her. The Public Advocate job is a weird one – tasked with advocating for the public – and I think necessarily this requires about some grandstanding as well as actually resolving complaints. It seems like she’s done good work so far, has the work to back up the grandstanding, and she’s definitely the best of the options.
Comptroller: Oh whatever, just go for Scott Stringer, or Beyoncé He’s better than the other guy, I think.
Manhattan DA: Write in Marc Fliedner. Remember the Brooklyn DA primary? With 500 people lining up around the block to be the most progressive? Marc Fliedner was one of those. He actually got ranked the best by the 5 Boro Defenders, a largely POC group of public defenders in the city. I ended up going for Anne Swern by a hair; Marc would have also been a good choice. Now he’s running in Manhattan as a write-in against Cy Vance, the sitting DA who is recently best known as declining to prosecute people who contributed to his campaign. (de Blasio, the Kushners, Harvey Weinstein). I feel great endorsing Marc as a write-in. Tell your friends!
District 1: Christopher Marte, I think I don’t know a lot about the long-term context of this race. I know that Margaret Chin is one of these funny third-term council members, a long-time incumbent. It’s hard to tell what her district thinks of her. I can’t find a good reason she gives for not doing participatory budgeting and it seems like there’s a lot of rage in the neighborhood around her work to preserve affordable housing, especially around the Two Bridges development. I’m a pragmatic guy at heart and her answers were, well, pragmatic; however, they’re a lot of that weird “people don’t really know what went into making these deals, we really tried” without actually telling people what went into making the deals and what she tried. Christopher Marte is from the neighborhood, evidently very involved, but in the way where it’s hard to know if what he does is as important as it looks on paper. He has the League of Independent Theaters’ endorsement, which also matters to me, although Chin’s overall list is much longer and includes Make the Road NYC and Planned Parenthood. She’s squarely in the middle of the City and State NY’s ranking of city council members. I read both of their responses to the Citizens Union survey about open government and found his more compelling. So vote Christopher Marte, I think, but I’m willing to be wrong about this one.
District 35: Jabari Brisport Laurie Cumbo sold out her district to the Bedford Armory. She has repeatedly bowed to developer pressure and the people just don’t like her. She attracted primary pressure, but the power of incumbency propelled her; luckily, people are still running. His Citizens Unite survey is full of the kind of truisms about government you get from the idealistic left, but what the eff, he’ll be a strong member of the progressive caucus. It’s a shame Ede Fox didn’t beat Cumbo in the primary, but I am happy to open the door to Brisport. I don’t think Cumbo is bad – she’s actually very highly ranked as a councilmember in responsiveness to her constituents, and she’s been the prime sponsor on a lot of bills about things that I think matter (% for arts reporting, public art, sex ed, multilingual information on housing.) Butttt…..I’m leaning Brisport. By a hair.
District 40: Brian Cunningham, Brian Cunningham, Brian Cunningham Mathieu Eugene has been a trash councilman. He has been the lead sponsor on only 7 bills in 10 years. He can’t even get a crosswalk made for a school. He might not even live in the district. Cunningham is young, he’s full of energy, he’s from the neighborhood, he’s worked with youth, and even if he ends out to be no good he’ll be no good in a new, better way. Cunningham is endorsed by the Working Families Party, the Stonewall Democrats, Planned Parenthood, TenantsPAC, and the Brooklyn Independent Democrats (we like them! They’re not the IDC!) 60% of the district voted for someone other than Eugene in the Democratic primary, but the vote split; Cunningham had the Reform endorsement which meant he could be on the general ballot on their line. He’s got good ideas about housing and more than that seems to actually care about what he does. You’re going to have to go to the Reform Party line to vote for him – he got the WFP endorsement too late to be on the ballot with them – so scoot that pencil to the right column and fill in that box. (Full disclosure: I’ve been volunteering with them.)
Prop 1: The Con Con:……no, but I hate myself a little and I might change my mind. Oh, the Con Con. I have been wrestling with this one and frankly it’s part of why this is coming out only one day before the election. There is so much good that could come from this, and so much bad that could come from it. The right says it’s a bad idea because the left would control the agenda; the left says it’s a bad idea because the right would control the agenda. Public unions are against it because of the risk to pensions. It’ll cost so much! (Will it cost so much?) It’s the only way to make change aside from our dysfunctional system! (Is it the only way to make change aside from our dysfunctional system?) The last one did nothing in the end! The one before that did so much! Most of our progressive laws come from constitutional conventions! The Koch brothers would take it over! NYCLU is against it; Citizens Union is for it. Unions are against it; progressive politicians are for it. The New York Times is against it; Newsday Long Island is for it. I have been watching debates and reading articles and it is one giant, messy ball.
The fact of the matter is this: no one knows what will happen because everything goes up for grabs. Everyone agrees on this. The pro side is arguing this presents an enormous opportunity for change: home rule for cities! Gender expression could be a protected class! Early voting! Legislative term limits! A unicameral legislature! The con side is basically making the same argument, only the bad side: loss of union pensions! Rolling back of the right to shelter! Gerrymandered senate districts leading to a conservative delegate base! The pro side says this is a chance for the government to truly be shaped by the people; the con side says the process will be hopelessly corrupt and just cost people money.
Voting yes hits all my love of sweeping action and big change. Past conventions are what have given us many of the things that already make New York relatively progressive: the “forever wild” land preserve, the right to welfare, expansion of voting rights. It’s a seductive argument. How often do we as progressives get a chance to build something from the ground up?
And yet. You might have noticed this isn’t a great time for progressives at the ballot box. One of the few things that I have not heard countered by the pro side is the fact that the statewide left is weak; Democrats aren’t even organized enough to get rid of the IDC, let alone a statewide progressive caucus. The unions are against it because they don’t feel they can guarantee a progressive outcome, and to me when someone publicly says they aren’t sure how powerful they are, you listen. That gerrymandering is real, and while a majority of the state senate districts went for Clinton over Trump, the state Senate is split more or less evenly.
How all that translates to a vote really boils down to this: are you a pragmatist or are you an idealist? Are you a risktaker or do we play it safe? In my heart of hearts, I want to believe in the con con. I want to believe we can do something great. But…I just can’t get over the feeling in my gut that this is not the moment. Politics worldwide don’t look good for progressive, expansive views, and especially in the United States it’s a moment for the left to be very careful with the risks we take. So I say vote no, but grudgingly, and I reserve the right to change my mind at the last minute in the voting box and make an idealistic, possibly reckless vote.
Prop 2: Cut Pensions for Public Officials Convicted of Corruption Yes really. It’s a question. FOR GOODNESS SAKE’S VOTE YES. It doesn’t even automatically cut these pensions. It just makes it an option for judges when the circumstances warrant it. VOTE YES. I’m not even giving you a link; if you vote against this, just go home.
Prop 3: Land Bank for Modifications for Forever Wild This is one of those upstate questions that we down here don’t really think about. Basically, it comes down to this: right now, the “forever wild” lands upstate can’t be developed for any reason. This seems good until you realize, say, a bridge needs to be repaired, only it can’t be repaired without a constitutional amendment because the repair would need to use some small corner of the forever wild land. This proposition would create a bank wherein the state would buy 250 acres of new forever wild land and then make the same amount of land available for projects like bridges and internet cables. This makes sense and is endorsed by the Nature Conservancy as well as a broad coalition of preservation groups for both the Adirondacks and the Catskills, which is good enough for me.
Ok, if you made it to the end, one more thing: this ad for Kalman Yeger in Boro Park. That race is its own hot ticket - Yoni Hikind, Dov Hikind’s son, against Kalman Yeger. The Forward goes into the underground heat, but I just want to give Kalman Yeger an award for the jingle of the election (and for all I know, this is a dis track, but I don’t know enough Yiddish to figure it out):

Corporate America freaks out over Elizabeth Warren
New Post has been published on https://thebiafrastar.com/corporate-america-freaks-out-over-elizabeth-warren/
Corporate America freaks out over Elizabeth Warren
When CNBC host Jim Cramer did a piece on money managers freaking out about Warren, the candidate grabbed the clip and tweeted above it: “I’m Elizabeth Warren and I approve this message.”
It’s led to fairly widespread frustration that Warren’s rise seems unstoppable.
“There’s really not a damn thing you can do about Warren. There is nothing,” said one prominent Wall Street hedge fund manager and Democratic bundler who is raising money for a Warren rival. “It’s the same thing Republicans went through with Trump. You look at her and think what she is going to do is going to be horrible for the country. But if you say anything about it you just make her stronger.”
This fund manager, like a half-dozen other executives interviewed for this story, declined to be identified by name for fear of being directly attacked by Warren. Some, however, are happy to ring the alarm, no matter how Warren might use their words.
“What is wrong with billionaires? You can become a billionaire by developing products and services that people will pay for,” said Leon Cooperman, a billionaire former Goldman Sachs executive who is now CEO of investment firm Omega Advisors and who predicts a 25 percent market drop should Warren become president. “I believe in a progressive income tax and the rich paying more. But this is the fucking American dream she is shitting on.”
Earlier in the campaign, executives suggested they found Warren at least a more palatable alternative to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), an avowed democratic socialist. Warren, a former Republican, has said she’s a capitalist “to my bones.” Even now, some billionaires are urging calm.
“‘Ninety-seven percent of the people I know in my world are really, really fearful of her,” billionaire Michael Novogratz told Bloomberg over the weekend. “It’s a little carried away.”
But more broadly the mood has shifted as Warren now leads Biden in some national and early state polls. And she has intensified her rhetoric toward Wall Street and the tech industry in particular.
At last week’s debate she stressed that she would no longer take any money at all from tech or Wall Street executives, after having success with tech donors earlier in the campaign.
“If we are going to talk about Wall Street and having some serious regulation over Wall Street, we should ask if people are funding their campaigns by taking money from those executives,” Warren said, an indirect dig at former Vice President Joe Biden and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, both of whom have held high-dollar Wall Street fundraisers.
“You can’t go behind closed doors and take the money of these executives and then turn around and expect that these are the people who are actually finally going to enforce the laws. We need campaign finance rules and practices.”
The current strategy among centrist, corporate-friendly Democrats is mostly to hope and pray that Biden — or perhaps Buttigieg or even Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) — can still take her out and prevent a possible Warren presidency that could upend business models and reshape entire industries.
Most are not ready to jump over to Trump, but some at least ponder the idea.
“I don’t assume all these people would go to Trump. Plenty of them think there is much more at stake than just narrow industry interests or tax rates,” a second hedge fund executive said. “There are a bunch of financial people that at the end of the day, if she’s the candidate, they will still support her. They won’t raise money for her because they can’t. But they will still support her because of what the alternative is.”
Among other things scaring corporate America and rich people, Warren has pledged to institute wealth taxes and break up tech giants and Wall Street banks. She has taken sharpest aim at the private equity industry, introducing the “Stop Wall Street Looting Act of 2019” that would essentially wipe out some of the industry’s most lucrative practices.
Much of this would be hard to enact without large majorities in both houses of Congress. But Warren could do a great deal in the regulatory world to appoint strict overseers and push much more stringent rules while rolling back the Trump administration’s deregulation efforts.
As of now, there is no organized Stop Warren strategy.
The closest thing that has emerged lately is a vague whisper campaign that former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg could ride into the Democratic primary at the last minute if it appears Biden is really failing. But even Bloomberg’s closest confidants admit there is little chance he could succeed.
“Mike’s calculation, rightly or wrongly, is that the same people who back Biden would back him,” said a person close to the former mayor. “But it’s by no means clear to him or to anyone that it’s even possible.”
Political observers view a late Bloomberg run as even less likely to succeed.
“First of all Bloomberg is older than Biden, even though he doesn’t look it,” said Greg Valliere, chief U.S. strategist at AGF Investments, the Toronto financial firm. “And the big impediment is he’s out of step with his own party. The activist base would be appalled by someone so pro-Wall Street.”
Biden’s dip in the polls — coupled with his troubling report of just $9 million in cash on hand at the end of the third quarter — has anti-Warren Wall Street types looking hard at other Democrats, led for the moment by Buttigieg, who has built a strong core of well-heeled fundraisers led by hedge fund manager Orin Kramer.
According to recently released figures, Buttigieg raised around $25,000 from executives at finance firms including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan and hedge fund giants like Bridgewater, Renaissance Technologies and Elliott Management in the third quarter. And he raised around $150,000 from donors who described their occupation as “investor.”
Overall, Buttigieg is now in much stronger financial shape than Biden with around $23 million in the bank at the end of the third quarter to around $9 million for the former vice president. Klobuchar has just $3.7 million, which leads many big donors to think she doesn’t have a shot to last long after early voting in Iowa and New Hampshire next year.
Buttigieg raising significant cash from Wall Street executives may make him a target of both Warren and Sanders. But a Buttigieg campaign official said it would not have an influence on his policies toward the industry. “People are coming to us because of Pete’s message and they are seeing and hearing real excitement and enthusiasm around him,” the official said. “We have over 600,000 individual donors to this campaign and our grassroots energy is very, very strong. We have events where people give more money and events where people give $10 or $15 and people who give $1 or $2 online.”
Perhaps the biggest hope among centrist Democrats is not that Biden finally catches fire again or that Buttigieg bursts to the top. It’s that Warren’s time as the front-runner takes a toll. Signs of that emerged in the Democratic debate last week as Klobuchar and others went after Warren for not being clear how she would pay for “Medicare for All” and refusing to say that she would raise taxes. Warren is now pledging to come up with a plan to pay for her plan.
Some executives also say they hope that moderate Democrats in swing Senate and House seats up in 2020 will begin to get scared of running with Warren at the top of the ticket and start to agitate harder for Biden or someone else.
“What it’s going to take is moderate Democrats in swing states and swing districts who are terrified of running with her at the top of the ticket coming out and doing something,” said a senior executive at one of Wall Street’s largest banks. “But nobody wants to piss her off. Nobody wants to be on her bad list.”
This executive said if Warren gets to the general election that Trump — whose campaign had $83 million in the bank at the end of the third quarter — would paint her as a threat to the American economy. “No one has really run opposition research on her yet. She’s skated pretty clean up till now. If you get her in the general, Trump and the RNC will paint her to the left of Mao. You look at the history of John Kerry and Michael Dukakis and Massachusetts liberals and it’s not very good.”

SnK S3E03 Results (Manga Reader Version)
Tumblr media
The poll closed with 563 responses. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Please note that this is the results of the manga reader poll. Anime only watchers are suggested not to read if you do not wish to be spoiled about certain events! Anime only viewers, click here to view your poll results!
Rate the episode
Tumblr media
84% of users rated the episode a 4 or 5 this week, compared to 64% last week. This episode had less action, but was full of key character moments that manga readers were excited to see animated.
So far it's my favourite since it follows the most the manga but with some bearable adjustemements. If the episodes will be like this from now on, I'll be completely satisfied and could get over all the changes in the first two episodes.
The adaptation is doing well, but of course manga readers(me included) about some bits being changed and rearranged. But on the other hand they might come me up with something unexpectedly good. I won't forgive them if they don't give shit machine tho.
It’s starting to feel more like the arc I love
It was great, I'm having trouble deciding which episode is the best of this season yet. I thought the second one was the best, but then I remember the premiere and now, once again, I am thinking about the 3rd one being the greatest. The quality this season is off the charts.
Compared to episode 2, episode 3 was quite uninteresting
I think it must have been boring and confusing for Anime-only's
This episode was appropriately paced for an episode full of flashbacks, and honestly I think it paid off to get the backstories of Erwin and Historia in one showing to avoid conflicting with the future action episodes.  I don't have much else to say- I can't really be critical because it was a pretty good episode, adaptation-wise.
Which of the following moments were your favorite?
Tumblr media
Hange taking their anger out on the table and Levi walking in on it is the winner here! The closest runner ups were seeing Levi’s wanted poster and getting Erwin and Historia’s backstories. We all agree it was nice to see many of these things in color animation finally!
Hange's scene where she blames her table destruction on a cockroach? Totally relatable. And I loved that Levi kinda teased her for it.
I have been waiting for Erwin's back story for AGES and was not disappointed! Kidwin was as heartbreakingly adorable as expected (that nose!! The sad bby at the funeral!!)
I liked all the topics they addressed that had been previously skipped (Historia and Erwin’s pasts). Also, while the sequence of events have been changed, I’m looking forward to how they are going to pan this out.
Erwin has great ass.
Hange's tableflip scene was amazeballs, man I love her!!
Pixis in a suit. Pixis in a suit. Pixis in a suit. Pixis in a suit. Pixis in a suit. Pixis in a suit. Pixis in a suit. Pixis in a suit. Pixis in a suit. Pixis in a suit. Pixis in a suit.
The conversation between Erwin and Pixis gave me thrills. I thought it was going to be boring, but it was very well shown.
My girl Hange's time to shine in this episode! I want her "BAAAKAAAA" as a ringtone asap
Who drew it better: WIT or Isayama?
Tumblr media
51% of respondents thought the OG drew it best. Isayama can finally sleep at night. Funnily enough, the anime only respondents preferred WIT’s version!
Who has the best reaction to Historia’s backstory?
Tumblr media
Sasha took the lead as she paused licking at her soup bowl to listen to Historia’s story. Connie was easily the next runner up with his dumbfounded expression. We weren’t surprised to see Springles win this one!
How cute was baby Historia?
Tumblr media
The vast majority of respondents just wanna pinch those cute little cheeks (and probably take her home, treat her to some hot cocoa and love her properly).
And baby Historia was the cutest omg! That lil nose and her lil blush! I'm crying bittersweet tears here.
How could anyone possibly look down on and abuse such a precious little bean like baby Historia?? Alma's so pathetic…
Baby Historia is the cutest thing I have seen in anime. She is so adorable and sweet! I would love to hug her so much! She is just too cute! <3
Child Hisu is ADORKABLE
How cute was little Erwin?
Tumblr media
While this is a tiny bit more spread out than Historia, the majority of respondents were also enamored with adorable kidwin and are ready to adopt him at any time (and probably give lots of hugs too!).
BABYWIN!!!!!!!!!
Young Erwin was def my fav bighead-bigbrows!
I love Erwin so muchhhh my precious baby is so cute and handsome at the same timeeeee I just want to hug him and never let anything bad happen to him againnnnn
The episode was dialogue heavy with a lot of character backstories and plot exposition. What type of episodes do you tend to prefer watching?
Tumblr media
In general, respondents don’t mind if an episode has a lot of action or if it’s a bit slower with some good plot developments. What matters is that we keep moving forward and that it’s entertaining, right?
About episode type: Tense conversation ready to break into action at any second, like when Kenny and Levi were talking in the bar.
It was a nice change of pace after all the fights in the first 2 episodes but I'm looking forward to the action  coming back next episode
Did Flegel really stay in that alleyway the entire night?
Tumblr media
We asked this mostly for fun and respondents didn’t disappoint. The majority believe that he did stay in the alleyway the entire night, but plenty of you had some fun commentary (and sass) to provide us all with some laughs:
Based on how the events at Erwin's went, I'd guess that Reeves was killed nearing dawn and it hasn't been that long.
During the night, he went to slay all of marley and came back in the morning, Flegel for president!
Oh crap, I didn't even notice that. Part of me wants to say maybe he left and came back, but that really doesn't make much sense if he's trying to not get caught. No doubt the Interior Squad would have surveyed the area a little before getting the body ready for a public reveal to frame Erwin.
He took one long leak
He went to get sour cream and came back
Slept in a trash-can then went for a morning stroll
insert Schroedinger's cat analogy
No clearly Annie came and rescued him
Somehow he knew Commander Handsome will be there, so yeah, he stayed. I would stay too <3
no, he crawled up the wall like a spider and slept on the rooftops dont worry
On a scale of 1-5, how distressed are you about Eren being tied, gagged and drugged?
Tumblr media
Most respondents seemed unconcerned or indifferent to Eren’s current situation, but those who are distressed were pretty vocal about it:
PLEASE MAKE SURE THE POOR BOY GETS SOME WATER???  The little scene with his in-and-out of consciousness is very distressing to see!
I pray that Eren gets a happy ending; I feel SO stressed for him
Who has the best hat?
Tumblr media
Connie’s sunhat took the lead! But we agree that all hats are good and that everyone was looking fab.
HAT HAT HAT I'm really hoping that from this point on, they will follow the manga more closely again, as I am not super impressed by the current shake-up in event order but most importantly HAT HAT HAT JEAN GOT HIS HAT.
The hats!!! The hats are so good!
Love his top hat but lost half his lines for it
JEAANNN'S HAAAT
How many flashbacks within flashbacks is too many?
Tumblr media
Half of respondents appreciated the Inception reference and just want to be flashbacked into oblivion. Okay but seriously, there were some who got a bit confused by WIT’s use of flashbacks for some of these scenes. We hope you’re holding up okay during current manga chapters!
bit weird to slow it down this much when the first 2 episodes were so action packed, 2 flashbacks in one episode is a bit much if you ask me. the episode didnt give you any break or a few seconds to let the information sink in.
I was confused by flashbacks in flashbacks. I don't lke that type of stuff and I got feeling that they were traveling in time :/
How do you feel about the rearrangement of events after this episode?
Tumblr media
45% are still tentative and not ready to judge the situation just yet. However, a good 37% combined are either content or are already finding they like the changes better. It seems the optimism is starting to improve overall!
Dont remember much of the order of events in this arc, as long as it all makes sense its fine. I trust Isayamas judgment
I prefer the manga’s order, but I am content, BUT I’m still waiting for more episodes to make a final judgement, BUT  I’m still very confused with where they are going with this.
I want to slap the whole WIT Studios and Yams but u know im okay for now.
Same story, different medium. Pretty neutral, happy I don’t know word for word what’s going to happen.
So I was very very nervous about the changes and pacing, but them taking the time to slow down and let the emotional weight of Historia and Erwin's backstories sink in is just what I needed to calm down a bit. I still have some preferences with the manga, but I'm sated to the point of watching and waiting without making too much of a fuss.
Some changes do make the action flow smoother, but im not happy that the studio decided to cut out Reeves-Levi wall bonding and L's squad 2.0's doubts on killing people
Rearrangement? Who cares? Erwin on graveyard was pure sex how was I supposed to thino about rearrangments???
I think the anime is doing a good job restructuring the arc, and is preserving its internal consistency quite well. But I am upset about some of the things that got removed, so I don't quite like the anime's retelling.
The rearrangement was understandable, however until I can look over the whole arc, I wouldn't be able to give a fair opinion on the execution of this season.
How do you feel about Historia’s absence when the Survey Corps proposed she needs to be queen?
Tumblr media
As with the previous question, nearly half of voters are not yet ready to judge how the changes will affect the arc overall. 35% of you guys think it was a bad choice on WIT’s part. It’s probably safe to say we’re all on our toes wondering how WIT is going to handle this plot development as they move forward!
I hope we can still see the Levi smiling moment at the end of this arc despite the absence of these scenes.
I prefer Rod being the one to push the idea of her royalty into her, and I still think we'll get a moment regarding Levi's will to accept a different kind of hell and pushing Historia to make a choice in some other way later.
It didn't have a huge significance to the plot but it gave both Historia and Levi some good characterisation.
I feel a mixture of "I need more episodes" and "It was a poor choice".
Had to be done for an action packed start the season but I'm disappointed as it is an important scene for Levi's development
It was a poor choice that broke an important chain of events, it was Levi who had to force Historia.
Ralph called Hange a devil after they were locked up. Was this good foreshadowing to current manga events?
Tumblr media
71% of respondents believed that this was good foreshadowing! We suppose one nice part of the anime being as behind from the manga as it is, is that we can recall these older moments that manage to have thematic relevance to current events.
I think Hange being called a devil was amazing foreshadowing, but also in a sense that, by overthrowing the current system, they are unwittingly putting themselves in the exact same position as the old government and its cronies were in with almost exactly the same problems and solutions available to them, the poor things just don't see it yet.
After this week, do you believe future episodes are now going to be more faithful to the original chapters?
Tumblr media
50% of voters are confident that WIT is mostly headed back toward the linear timeline of the manga, with maybe small bits and pieces shuffled or omitted. 28% aren’t feeling as optimistic about it, however. But 18% are confident we’re back onto the strict manga timeline.
I'll have to wait and see all the episodes. No point trying to guess, only to be disappointed. Isayama authorised the changes, let's see what his new vision of these chapters!
I believe they will be faithful more than just "a little bit."  It seems the PV is a good indicator of that.  The Historia rising up to be queen is definitely going to be handled differently and there is no way around that.  But I'm ready, Wit!
im still trying to grasp what they trying to do of the pacing and the moments and i still hope the upcoming eps will make sense of all that cuts and flashbacks.
They'll have to do something different with Levi and Historia's 'discussion' about her becoming queen. I wonder if it will happen later, and someone else will do Reeve's line about him being a scary but good man? It would be interesting if someone like Mikasa does it.
Leaked episode titles PROVE they are gonna butcher up the cave scene
Maybe yes, maybe not. It all depends on Isayama and WIT, so let us wait for episode 41, shall we?
Which scene from the PV are you most looking forward to this week?
Tumblr media
The largest group are most looking forward to Jean testing whether or not they can trust Marlowe and Hitch (please give us the stick WIT!). The close runner up is Levi interrogating the MP with the nice mustache and a case of foot-in-mouth. Literally.
I'm totally excited to see Marlowe and Hitch!
Central MP HQ next week?!?! Hoping for some new action scenes.
GIVE ME HITCH AND MARLO RIGHT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW
everyone in the PV is hot (yes pulverized erwin is still included)
Which group of characters are you favorite?
Tumblr media
“All of them” wins as the good neutral vote.
I never know how to answer the which group is your favorite question because my fav is 104th + Annie (sans RB). So I'm always answering sans RBA which is unfair to Annie.
Where you do primarily discuss the series?
Tumblr media
Additional thoughts on the episode?
A little bit better, but not enough. But overall I'm satisfied and I enjoyed it.
All in all, a very nicely done episode. I like how the story is coming together, all the different elements in the manga are there, just in a different order. I had high hopes for this season and so far I am not disappointed!
At this point I have absolutely NO clue where they are, or what's going on. The manga was less confusing for me.
Damn cockroaches, always ruining Hange's day.
Earlier I was really salty about Levi having to hold Mikasa back everytime it was mentioned that Eren was kidnapped, but later I noticed that instead of Mikasa being cool with it immediately like she was in her manga, in the anime they are slowing her development down to make it more realistic and believable(Levi had to physically restrain her the first time around, while the second time he just had to talk her down) so I still have faith it wit. I am still a little angry that the "That wasn't how I raised him." scene was cut though. It was an important Mikasa-Armin moment. But oh well! At least we got to see Jean in his glorious fedora!
Felt well-paced, I do like that they are tweeking things to make the anime feel more smooth.
Hanji looked like a snack throughout this episode shes so hot oh my god I’m so gay
Baby Erwin and Historia are wonderful, and I really like that they put two very different parent/child relationships on display here. Erwin's devotion to his father's theories, and the closeness to their relationship paralleled the neglegence Alma showed towards Historia - and in the end, the parents meet the same fate, offed by the Interior Squad."
Both Historia and Erwin's backstories needed stronger direction. Also, just a nitpick, but the soundtrack they used when Sannes told Hange "good luck" was an extremely weird choice. It was a very grim and ominous scene yet the music in the background didn't reflect that.
Pixis' lack of opposition was annoying. It seemed like he was just there so that Erwin had someone to talk about his backstory to. In the manga his red-line of no blood being spilled and his willingness to stay with the nobility if they had unknown but good reasons for their behaviour increased the stakes a lot.
I love the consistent tension buildup and the music choices that just compliment it. Sawano has been on a roll with the new tunes, and the way old ones have been used has been fantastic. Attack on D for Erwin's flashback is a choice I didn't consider, but I'll be damned if that wasn't a great call.
I just want to protect smol Historia and precious little Kidwin
Loving the development for Erwin. People need to realize that he isn't some cold hearted badass. He has feelings too ya know!
Thank you to everyone who participated! We’ll see you back on Monday!
