hey since it's coming up again: no it's not a good thing that the government wants to ban tiktok. no you should not be glad that the government might ban tiktok. no you should not respond to this with "good riddance" or "hurry up I hate that app". I should not have to explain this to you but the government banning a social media app is still a bad thing even if you don't like the UI or booktok or having to say "unalive" or how you think it's killing the very notion of attention spans. It's still bad. It's bad.

We Could Be A Leftist and A Rightist at The Same Time
What a strange time when what we called the left was not on the left, the right was not on the right, and the centre was not on the centre. However, this is how politics should be understood and work. Politics must be all encompassing, for everyone, for the common good.
The political spectrum is important, it is useful for classifying and determining our political positions. However, it cannot be rigid. Each corner of the political spectrum is not rigid and completely separate from the others. Hence why there are many models of this.
People can be on the 'left' or on the 'right' in looking at certain things. Too many variables are needed to truly determine an individual's political position. Most people see other people's political positions only superficially, they only see what they see, just on the surface.
So, it shouldn't matter if people accuse you of being leftist or rightist. Even so, it is still potentially dangerous. I personally avoid any political labeling of myself. It is easier for me to refute accusations than to defend my political position. People change, so do I.

Call her Harris not Kamala. If you don't call him Joe and you don't call him Donald, don't call her by her first name.

Amity Parkers are super good at dealing with superhero and villain battles, getting out of the rubble, helping others get out, etc.
This doesn’t shock anyone. There’s so many cities that consistently deal with superhuman battles that millions of people around the world are used to it and know what to do during a battle. Hell, there’s even government standard safety drills in schools about villain attacks now.
They didn’t stand out for a long long while among crowds of other city goers trying to flee a battle scene.
That was until a green glowing android appeared out of nowhere defeating heroes and villains alike because their abilities were rare enough to be hunted by this mysterious newcomer. So far no known weapon is able to hit the being while intangible.
That is until one unassuming citizen pulls out a strange wrist ray contraption that seems to actually stun the creature for a few seconds.
NOW all eyes are on these citizens that once lived in Amity Park

Humans are terrifying to any and all that are not them.
Bug Fact: An estimated 25% of the general population actively fear spiders and insects. This fear response may not be completely due to their threat levels, but related to the human feelings of disgust when seeing an insect.

i didn't have super high hopes for the barbie movie going into complex feminism and political issues or anything considering its made by mattel but the right-wing and male reaction honestly had me really hopeful that i was wrong and that the barbie movie is trying to say something radical. and then i saw the movie and its just like. the most basic boring surface-level feminism movie ever. the most political thing they say is that women have it really rough under the patriarchy which like. yeah obviously. its also extremely nice to men like its clear that the kens turn bad not out of malice but misguidance and ryan gosling ken gets whole musical numbers and a whole arc about finding himself and getting to know ken w/o barbie. even the all-male leadership at mattel is depicted as well-meaning albeit buffoonish at times. so the fact that men and right wing audiences are claiming that the movie is anti-men or is this super radical film is just. incredibly sad to me. like even a movie this non-political with such surface-level corporate feminism is offensive to you? and even the leftists are acting like its revolutionary somehow. if your boyfriend didnt realize how bad women have it before seeing the fucking barbie movie you need to get a new boyfriend. idk. its just disappointing all around to see something as basic as "women have it rough" treated like its a revolutionary concept and it makes me genuinely despair for the future of women that the barbie movie is the most feminism some people have been exposed to. and even that little amount is too much for some people.
