honestly props to Biden on his timing. Dropping out after the republican convention but before the democratic convention was a smart move. It means the republican arguments about him are now all meaningless

the american voting system is NOT EQUIPPED to support a 3rd party without ranked choice voting. and until we get RCV, it's one or the other. and it WILL be one or the other.
a lot of 3rd party candidates sound great, but they do not have a realistic chance at winning. be realistic. you know who does have a chance at winning? the household names, trump or harris.
splitting the vote by going 3rd party is what made trump happen in 2016, it was hillary clinton's downfall. it was USED by state sponsored internet trolls to spread propaganda, destabilize and divide the left. it was endorsed by trump himself, he tried it in 2020 too, and he's doing it again now because he knows it might be the only chance he has at winning.
be VERY wary of anyone telling you vote 3rd party. it's trump or harris. it won't be stein, de la cruz, or sherman, or fucking anybody else ive never heard of, because nobody is talking about independent candidates, and EVERYONE is talking about trump and harris.
it will be trump or harris for president, and it will be trump if you vote 3rd party. and ill tell you as an anarchist, i would rather have kamala harris and all her flaws in office over the fascist donald trump who would see me and my queer siblings and my friends and family of color dead.
do not split the fucking vote.

"MISS AGNES MACPHAIL YORK EAST CANDIDATE," Toronto Star. June 12, 1943. Page 8. ---- Will Carry C.C.F. Banner in Forthcoming Provincial Election ---- Miss Agnes Macphail, former M.P. for Grey-Bruce, was nomimated last night at the C.C.F. convention in York as provincial candidate for the riding. Miss Macphail obtained a majority of ballots over Frank Murray, Leaside township employee, and member of the Leaside C.C.F. club.
"The C.C.F., when in power, will provide an effective trade union act, making such a thing as the Galt fracas impossible," Miss Macphail declared, in thanking the delegates.
"While a provincial government cannot do everything, there is much it can do," she added. "For example, a C.C.F. government can and will bring health services within the reach of all, lower the age and increase the amount paid to old-age pensioners; increase amounts paid to mothers on allowance and to blind pensioners."
She also said that, when in power, the C.C.F. will put forth a plan "placing on the land young, experienced farmers under conditions encouraging to these young people." The party, she continued, will "control monopolies operating under provincial jurisdiction, and institute an extensive program of public works at the close of the war to help take up the slack in employment."
F. A. Brewin, vice-president of the Ontario C.C.F. party, declared that selection of Miss Macphail "is an excellent illustration of the great partnership which forms the C.C.F. -the partnership between the in- dustrial workers, the farmers and progressive-minded people of all classes.
"As Ontario, the keystone province, goes, so will the whole of Canada," Mr. Brewin added later, remarking that a provincial election was pending.
He also stressed the C.C.F. stand on collective bargaining. "We in the C.C.F. believe whole-heartedly in genuine and independent unions. When we bring in a collective bargaining act there will be nothing half-hearted about it."

It's finally dawning on me that a lot of hard leftists actually do think the US presidency is already a dictatorship.
Like they think that the reason the Biden administration didn't cancel college debt on the grand scale they pictured, is that he just didn't want to. They have no comprehension just how much Republicans were working against him to stop literally anything he could do to make things in this country less dogshit. (BTW, this is why we need to vote blue all the way down the ticket.)
And then they think they can elect some third party rando with no actual allies in the senate or congress or anywhere, and people will just have to do what they say, and won't try to sabotage them even harder because they're even further left. (The aforementioned efforts to sabotage Biden? It would be even worse for an actual leftist president.)
Like no, sorry, the US presidency is not actually a dictatorship.

I’m in the South. I’ve got ears to the ground. Republicans are SWEATING at the prospect of Kamala being nominated. They’re not sure Trump can beat her.
Let’s prove them right.

just some reminders if you’re watching the american presidential debate right now:
1. it’s going to be okay. if we take action, we will get through this.
2. choosing not to vote is a choice to elect trump. no matter how much you hate biden, he’s the only option- and despite being a literal walking corpse and a professional yapper, he will stop project 2025 from being implemented. please vote. we need it.

If you hear Republicans speak to other Republicans, you'll hear a lot of them say that they really don't like Trump for whatever reason (many of them aren't fans of the felony convictions, his personal manner, his business dealings, his family life, or whatever else) but that they'll still be voting for him because he'll get them closer to what they ultimately want. They're pragmatic; they don't demand purity in their candidate. They recognise him as their strategic choice so they'll set aside the issues they have with him and vote as a bloc. That's what makes them effective at getting their way. That's how they win elections.
And boy I wish we had more of that attitude on the left. Imagine what we could get done.

The number of white, ostensibly liberal male political pundits insisting that elections in the Biden/post-Dobbs era are just Completely Unpredictable and Wild sure is something, huh.

I'm sure I'm not the first person even in this micro community to note this, but just imagine if Trump was a childless man and Harris had five children with three different men. How is it always that women get attacked for their lives no matter what?

polling day on thursday so this is your notice that if you actively choose not to vote, then you have no fucking right to complain about the way things turn out.
"but i don't want to go to the polling station!" you had plenty of time to apply for a postal or proxy vote.
"they're both the same!" 1. no they're fucking not. 2. this isn't the us. voting for the greens or the lib dems or snp or independent or count fucking binhead does mean something.
"but the prime minister will be rishi sunak or kier starmer!" yes, probably, but politics is not just national. you will be represented by somebody, i suggest you look at your local candidates.
democracy literally only works if people participate. go and fucking vote.
