Polish far-right leaders are launching their European election campaign by setting up parties that want Poland to leave the European Union, one of which was founded by former MEP Stanisław Żółtek. The first politician to call for Poland’s exit from the EU was Żółtek, a former presidential candidate who is now running for MEP. “We are under the thumb of the European Commission, which is governed by the Germans and the French. They are losing their national sovereignty (to the EU) just like us, but at least under their own leadership, he said, as quoted by Rzeczpospolita. The Polish people have realised the consequences of EU membership, according to Żółtek, who points to rising electricity bills due to the cost of CO2 emissions, EU restrictions affecting the competitiveness of Polish agriculture and the push for electric vehicles in the near future. As many as three election committees with the word “Polexit” in their names have registered for the elections, Rzeczpospolita  reported, citing the list on the National Electoral Commission’s (PKW) website.

Polish opposition launches election campaign with Polexit demand
Polish opposition leaders launch their European election campaign with the creation of parties that want Poland to leave the European Union.
The first politician to call for Poland’s exit from the EU was former MEP Stanisław Żółtek currently running for the European Parliament.
We are under the thumb of the European Commission, which is governed by the Germans and the French. They are losing their national sovereignty [to the EU] just like us, but at least under their own leadership.
The Polish people had realised the consequences of EU membership, Żółtek stated, pointing to rising energy bills due to the cost of CO2 emissions. These EU restrictions affect the competitiveness of Polish agriculture and the push for electric cars in the near future.
Three election committees with the word “Polexit” in their names were registered to run in the election, Polish media reported, citing the National Electoral Commission’s (PKW) website.
Besides Żółtek’s PolEXIT Election Committee, there are two other committees with a similar political profile and whose main demand is Poland’s exit from the EU: Polexit Independence (Polexit Niepodległość) and Polexit? It’s High Time! (Polexit? Najwyższy Czas!).

Poland wants to stay in the European Union
Today, 10.10.21, demonstrations took place in nearly 126 cities to announce to the government and to the whole of Europe that we, the polish people, do not want to leave the EU and do not agree with the slogans of PiS (Law and Justice- Prawo i Sprawiedliwość - the governing party in Poland).
"We stay in the EU" was the pro-EU demonstration that was the most numerous in Warsaw. Donald Tusk said there: we want an independent, European, law-abiding, democratic and honest Poland.
Those in power are trying to create a narrative that Polish law, which is not determined by the constitution but by their words, is to be above European law. They are creating a narrative which assumes that the EU is Poland's enemy. WE DO NOT AGREE TO THIS.
We are fighting today for our freedom, for our dignity and for our future.
We need help from Brussels, from the Union, from our neighbours, who will hear us - Polish Europeans - above the words of arrogant rulers.
Not Polexit, but PiSexit.

We are staying
Large protests are being held across Poland in a show of support for the European Union after a court this week challenged the supremacy of EU legislation, widening the rift with Brussels.
Thousands of people on Sunday filled Castle Square, in Warsaw’s historic centre, in a show of opposition to the right-wing nationalist government, with people chanting “We are staying!” and holding signs with slogans like “We are Europeans”. Large protests also took place in other cities across the country.

hi europeans, polak here
so today i noticed polexit is trending which made me uh, VERY uneasy so for people who don't know whats going on heres a quick summary:
When Poland joined the EU in 2004, a law was created that said that Poland could leave the EU only by means of a referendum.
In the course of time, the PO party ("Civic Platform") took over the government and Donald Tusk became the prime minister.
During the reign of tusk, in 2014, another law was passed in the parliament, which stated that poland can leave any national body (e.g the EU) simply with a parliamentary majority, i.e. without direct input from the population. The EU refuted that by saying, thet we can't actually do that, so it was floating around in a sort of dark white light-grey area, as in, we didnt actually change that law, but we were't aput to use it anyway so the union let it slide.
Today, the constitutional court has decided that the Polish constitution is the highest rank of law, and if Poland has delegated any competences to the EU, they are less important than Polish laws. This means: "we do not give a fuck what the EU tells us, no one tells us what to do so even though we're in the pocket of the ruling party (PiS - Law and Justice lmao) and we hate Tusk were bringing the parliamentary majority law back.
As usual, Poland is in a tussle with the constitutional court of the European Union, which is trying to "impose" on Poland, as Polish conservatives put it, how Polish courts should operate. In practice, this means that the European Union sees that there is less and less separation of powers in Poland, especially of the executive and legislative sort, and tries to protect the remnants of democracy in Poland by means of laws and orders. They also have been the ones that cut funding to polish voivodeships, cities and villages that declared themself "LGBT-free zones", because thats obviously in direct conflict with the values that the union tries to represent anyway.
The whole thing is probably a kind of "power-play" that counts on the covidaid package (aka. literal billions of euro) that the EU is supposed to allocate to the European countries that are not doing exceptionally well economically. the government is trying to get as much money as possible through blowing up about the possibility of such a"polexit".
It is a fact that neither the EU nor Poland will gain much from the "polexit", but unfortunately the increasing right-wing trend of the ruling parties makes this possibility more and more probable.
You wanna know the government opinion on this "independent ruling"?
"I am glad that the judges of the Constitutional Tribunal did not succumb to the blackmail of the European Commission, because this is in fact the illegal withholding of funds for Poland." - our vice-minister of justice, Sebastian Kaleta (what does he mean by widthholding? theres a conspiracy that the eu WANTS to push Poland outta eu, so theres that)
The British people have shown that the dictatorship of Brussels democracy does not suit them. They turned around and walked out - Ryszard Terlecki, Chairman of P*S party
Poland fought during World War II against one occupant, it fought against the Soviet occupant, we will fight against the Brussels occupant - P*S party member, Marek Suski
Still the big fish of p*s are very much denuing polexit, while the more unhinged members of their own party are pushing for it. The opposition basically sits around saying "I told you so", the centre lives in blissful denial and the left is panicking.

The right wing PiS government in Poland considers following the UK’s brilliant move of leaving the European Union.
Speaking of Brexit, Poland should look at the sorry state of post-Brexit Britain before jumping into a pool with no water.
• Record number of UK firms officially bankrupt as Brexit trade barriers soar   • Why are U.K. and the EU still fighting over Brexit?   • Brexit: Eight things we were told that have turned out to be wrong

Poland Tests the EU’s Future
Poland Tests the EU’s Future
Ursula van de Leyden and Mateusz Morawiecki Poland’s right-wing government has long been at odds with the European Union over issues like media freedom and L.G.B.T.Q. rights, as well as its efforts to oversee its judiciary. It escalated that conflict in July 2021 when it refused to implement two decisions of the European Court of Justice that effectively ordered the dismantling of a…

Europe - various reports
youtube
Poland's constitutional court said on Thursday that Polish law can take precedence over EU law amid an ongoing dispute between the European bloc and the eastern European member state. The decision by the Constitutional Tribunal came after Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki requested a review of a decision by the EU's Court of Justice (ECJ) that gave the bloc's law primacy. Two out of 14 judges on the panel dissented from the majority opinion.                   "The attempt by the European Court of Justice to involve itself with Polish legal mechanisms violates ... the rules that give priority to the constitution and rules that respect sovereignty amid the process of European integration," the ruling said. Brussels considers the Constitutional Tribunal illegitimate due to the political influence imposed upon Poland's judiciary by the ruling Law and Justice party (PiS). Poland has come under repeated fire from the EU including over issues to do with LGBTQ rights and women's rights and media freedom. The judiciary reforms by the PiS government have been seen as a threat to Poland's membership within the 27-member bloc as well as to the stability of the EU as a whole. The court's decision on Thursday came as little surprise. The presiding judge, Julia Przylebska, is a government loyalist who was appointed by the ruling party.

The rift between Poland and the rest of the European Union is widening after a court in Warsaw found ITS rulings could override EU law. Judges in Poland's top court have said EU courts don't have legal authority over the country's constitution. The European Commission says it will use all its powers to enforce its laws. The ruling is raising questions about Poland's place in the 27-member bloc.

Ünsal Arik is a Berlin boxer with Turkish roots. But the former German champion and WBC champion is not only known for his sporting success. He's also a vocal critic of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Arik said that few weeks ago he was attacked and injured by Erdogan's supporters. The Turkish government has already reacted to the boxer's criticism. He can no longer enter Turkey. There are arrest warrants against him, he is accused, among other things, of a "coup attempt."

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz has resigned. He has been under pressure over allegations he bribed a newspaper for favorable coverage prior to his election as party leader and then chancellor. As he made that announcement on Saturday, Kurz said he wasn't involved in any criminal activity. And that he was standing aside to prevent a government crisis after his Greens coalition partner said he was unfit to lead the country. Kurz was expected to face a vote of no confidence in parliament next week.
