so glad i finally got to updating their designs.

bonus: previous designs under the cut!

Ripley was originally concepted in early to mid 2020, whilst at my grandmother's house for the weekend. These two pieces were made to help me brainstorm:

I am unsure if they had a name back then, as the current name Ripley was decided on just a few days ago when I remembered his existence. Essentially his whole story is that his trainer was abusive, and ditched him after his float was damaged, seeing him as useless.

As for Nova, a lot has changed from when I concepted her. I've swapped around design concepts a lot. Mostly relating to whether or not she should be shiny, as well as her chipped ear and emblem on the shoulder. None of which her current design has, as all those details were directly linked to her original backstory and lore.

The chip was what allowed her to shift back and forth between different evolutions; inspired by a similar eevee from the Pokémon Adventures manga.

(Just to clarify: she no longer has the ability to shape-shift, but instead to temporarily fuse with another Pokémon, effectively combining the adaptive elements of both an Eevee and Ditto together into a unique ability. )

The insignia on the shoulder was a mark of allegiance to her rebellion against the humans who wronged them. And her being shiny was just because I enjoyed the colors.

And then there are these last two designs. Also a remnant of the shape-shifting ability, I originally wanted her to be able to change into a super powered-up fusion of all the eeveelutions, as a sort of final form. But as I grew up and got more into the Fandom (as well as having my design torn to shreds by a Poketuber's Discord community), I realized the idea was too common, and decide to go for a new angle.

Both drawings below are redraws of an original drawing I made around age 7, which I still have today. The one on the left was an attempt to mimic the Ken Sugimori style, made around age 11. The one on the right was done sometime between 2020 and 2021.

Honestly I love looking back at my old art and adapting it to my new knowledge and experience. It's a like time capsule.

Oh, I also at one point recreated the design using Pokémon Mega Construx pieces. It was amazing.

omg i have so much nostalgia from pokemon, esp pokemon xyz. i get so emotional thinking about it. and the lore is just *chefs kiss*. my fave games tho are rhythm games because i love to jam out to music and break my thumbs in the process. IM SO SORRY BUT I ABSOLUTELY HATE MIRACULOUS. i loved it a lot before but they keep on drawing out marinette and adrien's entire love story so now i hate it ToT. i just don't have the patience for that long, esp with love stories.

social anxiety is the worst TT its ironic because humans are meant to be social creatures that rely on interdependence. I've been trying to get medication for it since it's been getting increasingly worse to the point i feel like I'm gonna get a heart attack ??? yeah but somehow im being "dramatic"... anywho enough ranting

sigh i love people whose love language is physical touch <33 esp since i love to be hugged. my personal love language tho is words of affirmation simply because i also love to read!! im not much into tiktok romance books (ironic because here i am on tumblr to write the corniest stuff ever) but i like to keep those two realms separate ykyk.

OMG POKEMON i used to play pokepark 2 on the wii with my brother all the time and that game is one of the many reasons why gen 5 is the best pokemon generation...also bc snivy, tepig and oshawott are the best starters :)))

RHYTHYM GAMES OMG i used to play the superstar series and i cried for WEEKS when superstar bts was shut down...and then again when superstar pledis was shut down. i love playing rhythym hive tho!! i acTUALLY PULLED AN XR MINGYU EARLIER TODAY???

Also pls so many people hate miraculous and I'm ngl it's so dumb but sam (pls ignore the 3rd person lmao) is brain empty no thoughts so dumb plots with overly cliché main characters and extreme slow burn that lasts 7 years makes me happy (tho apparently the timeline in the show it's been like 9 months??? weird)

To answer your question, i honestly don't really do anything that interesting during the holidays. my family celebrates Christmas and so we just have a small Christmas at home, and then we go to my grandma's for a bigger Christmas with all of my aunts. What about you? what holiday do you celebrate? do you have any cool traditions?

pokemon is primarily and originally a videogame franchise, but there are tons of different spin-off games, there are movies & a trading card game, and a main series anime! the videogames & the main series anime are, i think, the most popular, with the trading card game close behind. the main concept of pokemon is catching & befriending cool little creatures :-) in the main series games, you can catch tons of pokemon and curate your own beloved team, and use them to battle to get to the end goal of becoming the pokemon champion!

to talk about a few of the spin-off games, there are a few i really love :-) theres the pokemon ranger series, 3 games total, where u take the role as a pokemon ranger, and basically become a protector of pokemon & nature & stuff!! u dont use them to battle, nor do you catch them, but u do befriend pokemon, and they can assist you when u need help! i.e, cutting down a tree or smth. the one ive played the most of, and fully through, is pokemon ranger: shadows of almia, the second game! its storyline is really fun and good, and the theme of found family is very prevalent in this one, so of course im a sucker for it 😢🥺 if u wanna hear more about this game… pls lmk bc i would LOVE to infodump about it, since its one thats stuck in my heart forever, and i also started replaying it recently :] 💛💛

pokepark wii and pokepark 2 are very fun spin-off games!! ive finished the first one, and never got around to finishing the 2nd, but MAN the first game is very much another one of my absolute cherished favs. basically! in the first game, u play as a pikachu who fell into another world, and theyre trying to regroup and find their friends who also fell in with them! the world they enter is one entirely inhabited by pokemon, not a single human, so all the npcs u talk to are different pokemon, and its super cool! there are a lot of rlly fun minigames in the game, some that are for the main story and some that are for side quests! one of the side goals is befriending every pokemon, which u can only do by playing a minigame with them - battle, chase, or hide & seek! sometimes they might ask u to get them a berry or smth like that instead - it just all depends on the pokemon!

pokemon mystery dungeon is a rogue-like style game; it’s the longest running spin-off series, and probably the most popular. i never fully finished a game tho, and the one i came closest to finishing, someone stole from me years ago 😔 they have REALLY good storylines though, and theyre v fun, if you like strategy games.

there r some other spin-offs that are good, like pokemon snap (its like a pokemon nature photography game), and pokemon tournament related games, where u p much just battle!

i just infodumped about a bunch of pokemon games, and this post got super long, so i think i’ll rb with the other answers :] thank u so much i really enjoyed writing this post 😭😭💛💛

Story: Love the Dark one (Pokemon creepypasta) Dear diary... 'Hey, it's me again, Maddie. It's been two years since I've been trapped in this hell hole. I'm writing this out of some sort of hope that someone will find it and come help me. Darkrai...that evil Pokemon. I might as well write everything down.' 'Four years ago I completed Pokepark 2 for about the fifth time but it had gotten boring for me. Being honest, the part I never got bored of was Darkrai. I knew how he felt, what it was like to be lonely but eventually realize that you were never truly alone. To be honest, I even gained a small crush on Darkrai and would talk to him during our battles. Saying how I loved him, that I related to him on a lot of levels, that I respected him, that I would never leave him, etc.' 'I noticed that whenever I would say that, he would stop attacking and just float there for a few seconds before continuing. I figured my game was a little messed up from playing it so much so I paid it no mind. I sighed, maybe there was a way I could keep seeing the character I adored so much AND gain a new interest in this gem of a game.' 'I called my friend over and asked him if he could hack my game. He asked to what extent because if I wanted some major differences then it would cost me. I told him everything I wanted and paid him a hundred dollars for his services. I knew it would take a long time due to the changes I wanted but I didn't care.' 'Two years passed by and he was still working on it. I got to play through my Okami game, Platinum, Black, White 2, X, and Sun version again while I waited, as well as some Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness. Finally though, my friend came back and returned my game, saying he was finished. I squealed with excitement, taking the Okami disc out of the WII and replacing it with Pokepark 2.' 'Once it was started up I saw that both my save files were gone but I shrugged that off. I was going to delete one of them anyway. Once I selected Play in Pokepark the loading screen didn't start, instead I got a choose your gender option. I smiled and selected female, then I was told to type in my name. I typed in Maddie. After that the loading screen started before leading to the beginning cutscene. I was happy to see my Pikachu now had a heart shaped tail, and Piplup referred to me as Maddie instead of Pikachu.' 'I played through the game all the way up to the point where Darkrai asks you to join him. I selected YES and a ... appeared in Darkrai's text box. Then he continued speaking.' ' "...Wonderful, you've made an excellent choice Maddie dearest." Then he teleported away. My Pikachu walked up to Gothitelle and she grabbed my Pikachu's paw before teleporting away.' 'The loading screen started up and once it ended I was in a room, Wish palace's theme began to play. I was in a room with a desk, a bookshelf, a mirror and a canopy bed. Gothitelle was telling my Pikachu character that this was her new room and welcome to the crew. She told me that Darkrai was waiting for me in the main room and she floated away. I got my control back and changed the camera angle to face an open door, I went through it.' 'I made my Pikachu step out into a hallway and I can't even explain how amazed I was. My friend made a whole new map which was the full inside of Wish palace. I decided to explore a bit, finding several bedrooms, kitchen, living area, what I assumed to be Darkrai's study, a dining room, and a courtyard garden. I also found some dungeons in the tower area. Finally, I went to the throne room.' 'Darkrai, Gothitelle, Gothorita, and Gothita were waiting for me. Upon walking up and pressing 2, he spoke.' '"Well my dear, you certainly took your time getting here. Exploring the castle?" Then a Yes or No option appeared, I selected Yes. He nodded, understanding my curiosity.' 'After that I was given quests to make Pokemon come to Wish park and it was actually really fun. I added Pokemon to my friends list while also getting them to go to Wish park. There was also an "end of the day" cutscene of the Wish park crew together, either in the garden, living room, dining room, etc. My Pikachu was always near Darkrai in some way, but she would get this scared look on her face.' 'A few days of playing went by. I got back from school and zoomed up to my room, turning the game on. A cutscene played of my Pikachu sleeping in her room, but then she got up upon hearing a strange noise. I soon gained control after she got out of bed and I tried to make her leave the room but the door was locked. I tried tackling the door, using Thunderbolt on the door, and trying to break it down with Iron tail, but nothing worked.' 'I changed the camera angle to look for a way out and I saw a vent. I made my Pikachu go over, and with two Iron tails the vent was open. I ran into the vents, navigating through the system before reaching the end. Two iron tails later, I entered the throne room. Once I did, a cutscene played. The cutscene was a battle between Darkrai, Oshawott, Snivy, Tepig, and Piplup. However, they were quickly beaten down by the Dark type and my Pikachu ran in.' 'Darkrai spoke.' '"Ah, there you are Maddie dearest. Go back to bed, I'll deal with them."' 'Shock appeared on my friend's faces and they began to try to convince me join them, to save the world from the Dark vortex. I was given a Yes or No option. Thinking about it, I selected Yes judging that I would probably get a bad ending if I stayed with Darkrai. My friends jumped with joy while Darkrai seemed to twitch. The next thing I knew, a powerful Dark pulse hit Oshawott, Snivy, Tepig, and Piplup. Sending them flying into the wall.' 'My Pikachu reacted by trying to use Thunderbolt on him but he blocked the attack. Darkrai floated up to her and picked up the electric mouse with ease. She struggled but Darkrai hugged her tightly, when he did, I felt a tight pressure on my waist and torso. Darkrai began to speak.' '"I'm afraid you're not going back to them dearest. After all, they don't understand you like I do. We both share what it's like to be lonely and I know you enjoy being around me, after all, I've heard you say you love me. Ah, that look of shock on your face. Did you think I couldn't hear you?"' He was looking at me, not at the Pikachu, but at me. '"Yes, I've heard, and enjoyed every word you said. But when you left me for two years...." His grip on the Pikachu got tighter, and so did the pressure on my body. "I was so upset...I took my anger and loneliness out on everyone.....it's a good thing the save file was deleted....or else....you would've saw something you most certainly wouldn't like."' 'He chuckled before releasing the Pikachu, the pressure on my body left. She ran towards her friends but Darkrai's powers lifted them up. The screen faded to black as a screech came from the speakers. I covered my ears, cringing. When it finally stopped, all that was left was my Pikachu and Darkrai. Gothita and Gothitelle teleported into the room, both of them with their body parts stitched on.' 'I looked at my Pikachu's face and she looked horrified, I knew what Darkrai had done...' '"There we go, now those "friends" of yours, are gone. However, it won't be good if I let you leave me again, so....W E L C O M E  T O  Y O U R  N E W  H O M E  D E A R.."' 'The screen glitched up and I screamed as a black clawed hand came out of the screen, reaching for me. I quickly got up and bolted out of the room. Darkness followed after me as I tried to escape the house, but he caught me. He dragged me, kicking and screaming. I blacked out.' 'When I woke up, I was in the room I was given in Wish palace. I got up and looked at myself in the mirror, I was a Pikachu. I ran off to the throne room. Darkrai was waiting for me.'" '"Welcome to your new home, Dearest Maddie."' (End of Diary entry)

hi!! the hot spring thing may be a headcanon, but its got some stuff to back it up thanks to the game pokepark wii: pikachu’s adventure which i happen to have finished 100%ing a few minutes ago at the time of writing this

so!! theres this place called the cavern zone, right? its just The Cave Place. honestly the entire thing feels a lot like filler but not the point.

point is, it’s got a hot spring! its what a lot of the story in that section is based off of. the hot spring has dried up and pikachu has to figure out why. although chimchar specifically doesnt say that theyre here for it or enjoyed it, almost every other pokemon does. the path to the next zone where chimchar is trying to go, the lava zone, is blocked.

there would be no other reason for him to stay in the cavern zone after the path is clear, or for him to hang around the hot spring with the group of pokemon who came for the hot spring in the first place, if he found no enjoyment in it whatsoever. there isnt really anything else to do around there so thats the only reason i can think of that he’d stay.

this isnt exactly solid proof but my knowledge about this game has almost no use otherwise so i hope you found this interesting!!

More Pokemon Headcanons

- Chimchar and its evolutions are one of the few fire types that love water. Hot springs, to be specific. Unsuspecting trainers taking a dip in a hot spring might be alarmed when their pokemon jumps into the water with them, but don’t worry. This is in no way harmful to them. In fact, it’s as beneficial to the pokemon as it is to the trainer.

- Eevee and its evolutions all have retractable claws. They don’t use their claws for battling, but rather for climbing, gripping, etc. Eevees tend to enjoy being in high places. Unfortunately, while they can scale up something like a tree or bookcase with ease, they’re usually not so good at getting back down on their own.

Pokemon Company’s Creatures Inc. No Longer on Game Freak’s List of Partners

Creatures Inc., the company responsible for Pokemon Sword and Shield’s 3D models, is no longer listed as a partner on Game Freak’s website.

Co-owner of The Pokemon Company, Creatures Inc., has recently been removed from Game Freak’s profile page on its official website.

As reported by the Japanese website Pokemon Matome (via Video Games Chronicle), on Game Freak’s “Company Profile” page on its official website, there is a section named “Main Client” which showed Creatures Inc. as recently as November 18. However, The Pokemon Company co-owner is no longer listed. Nintendo, one of the other co-owners of The Pokemon Company, is still present.

As of this writing, it is unknown why Creatures Inc. was removed from the page. This could just be a small mistake that was overlooked. It could also mean that the relationship between Creatures Inc. and Game Freak has changed. We’ll let you know once we have details.

While never in the forefront, Creatures Inc. has been involved with The Pokemon Company since it was founded in 1998. They’ve developed some of the spin-off Pokemon games such as Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, PokePark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure, and most recently, Detective Pikachu. They are also known for they’re character model work in all of the main entries since Pokemon X and Y. This means they are responsible for the models used in the franchise’s most recent release, Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Just a few days before launch, a bit of controversy sparked in the Pokemon community. The models used in Pokemon Sword and Shield appear to be identical from its Pokemon Sun and Moon counterparts. This contradicts an earlier statement made by Junichi Masuda, where he stated that with the franchise switching from the 3DS to the Nintendo Switch, the models “had to be rebuilt from scratch.”
