I think the scariest part about Batman is the loyalty he inspires. Like this motherfucker has an army of children who might at any given time hate his guts, but are still 100% willing to throw hands for him if Bruce needs them to. And then there’s the Justice League, who also at any given time might hate his guts or find him insanely irritating and/or weird, but will also fall in line and listen to his plans if the need arises. And that’s like the most intense form of power someone can wield—voluntary obedience from people physically more capable than them.

a super brief overview of all Eyes and Ears (Martyn Inthelittlewood's AU/interpretation of the Life Series) to catch you up for the next Life Series game

The Life Games are hosted by the Watchers, a group of semi-powerful beings who feed off emotion. Forcing the players to kill one another and feeding off the excitement and terror is how they survive. The Watchers manipulate anything that isn't dramatic or intense enough for them to feed off of, including causing hallucinations, changing the game, or "gently torturing" the players. There have been thousands of these games, but the players only remember a few. The Watchers aren't viewed as good or evil in EaE.

(The Watchers hate love, though, and won't feed on it.)

The Listeners are also a group of powerful, neutral beings that oppose the Watchers. They're in a constant war, with the Listeners currently holding the upper ground. None of the players are Listeners, but it is possible that Grian was temporarily a Watcher.

Martyn is a real person stuck inside the digital world where this all takes place, and must keep his identity a secret. From his perspective, through which EaE is viewed, we don't know if anyone is a real person in the digital world with him, an NPC, a gamer, or a CHEST agent (operatives who are looking for Martyn).

Martyn receives a permanent scar to his form after every life game. So far, he's received a scar on his cheek (following Third Life, when he cried when Ren died), one between his shoulder blades (stabbed in the back during Last Life), by his heart (in Double Life, where he had his heart broken), and on his ear (Wild Life, where he was bestowed Listener powers by a wildcard). in Limited Life he received a scar to his hand, but this was since healed.

The Watchers pay special attention to Grian, Martyn, and Ren (for various reasons), Scott (they hate him deeply) and the Evo crew for attempting to escape the games.

sure Annabeth seeing the fates cut the string is something that is interesting and even arguably powerful in a way but like, at the end of the day it's not about who's closest to Luke? Percy is the one to see the string cut because its foreshadowing the outcome of the great prophecy... and the great prophecy is specifically about Percy and Luke. "A half-blood of the eldest gods" and "the hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap." Like Percy and Luke's paths are quite literally woven together by design. By fate. They are foils. They are mirror images. They are figure heads of the opposing sides. Yes, Annabeth has deeper, more personal ties to Luke and her belief in Luke's goodness is central to the story, but it's Percy's decision to hand Luke the dagger and Luke's decision to take his own life that ends the war. So, if Percy truly does not end up seeing the fates in the show at all, I'm afraid we've truly lost the essence of the plot.

Still working on my Magnus Archives but Jon "The Archivist" Sims is also currently in the mechanisms and they're in the process of writing The Bifrost Incident (Now at over 1k words Yay!) but it is so much fun to write a severely misinformed Elias. He takes on look at Jon's notes for Red Signal and the final confrontation between Odin and Thor and assumes that Jon not only knows about the entities, but is also planning his own combined ritual.

THen because he assumed that he's just making everything else fit this viewpoint even though Jon is genuinely just writing norse mythology fan fiction for his band annd Elias is here thinking he now has someone to scheme with so he's being all cryptic and thinking Jon's being cryptic back when really Jon has no clue what he's talking about

Experimenting with something :^)

Tea was fun. Figured that one would be complimented by very light watercolor washes in addition to the tea and definitely something I'll keep in mind for future stuff, but it's difficult to push the contrast which isn't impossible but kinda gets away from the gimmick.

I like watercolor best. The muted tones are nice and tbh the red scarf bleeding onto the coat made for an unexpected but fun lil gradient w/ a slight morbidness to it.

Acrylic surprised me for how well it behaved (thought for sure it would obliterate the lines, but it didn't??) but I kinda loath painting with acrylics loooool Mixed with enough water tho it kinda painted like watercolor and I don't hate how unapologetically flat/bold it is (the colors here were straight from the tube; using it for real I would definitely mix the colors)

Pastels were a fun idea but LOL no. I scraped the sticks with a blade and ground the powdered pigment into the wood grain and it's way too much work and way too... unpredictable? Could be an excellent supplement to watercolor tho. Coloring with pastel dust is neat but not as the sole technique, as evident by me not even finishing that lil dude.

Anyway, I am VERY EXCITED to share the project I've been working on, and this was a fun toward that!
