How can I look forward to seeing you again?

What Is There To Say?

There is something I want to say, But it feels too childish, Too genuine, Almost obscene.  But I’ll say it anyway;  So,   Let’s just say that  I happen to notice things; You like pictures of bugs, For one— So here’s five that I got for you Happened to find. Along with  A video of that artist you really like. Let’s just say that I don’t mind you,  That I happened to stay, That I’m stuck with you.  We sat in silence On call last night.  You asked me to. I said yes even though It was 2am and I was tired. I wouldn’t want to Leave you alone. Besides,  I still owed you a favour from when You saved my life spent a whole night by my side. There is something I want to tell you, But it feels too big, Too selfish, Too loud. So I guess I’ll just  Keep noticing things For now.

hehehe so my poet friend(? peer? who actually is almost a decade older than me but we were in college together and talked sometimes? and i really admire her?) texted me to see if i would come to the launch party for the campus lit mag she runs that i contributed to and it’s like an hour away so i wasn’t really planning on going but since she asked i was like yes!! and then she was like will you read too?! and i’m like omg she wants me to read :))) and i do know she genuinely likes my poetry and it was nice to be reminded of that so yes it would be an honor. and and and. i haven’t seen her or any of these other college people since december so i’m scared because i feel super detached mentally like i’m living in another world because i’ve been so depressed lately. anyway anyway it is really nice to be considered and i feel appreciated. :) idk why i’m telling you all this i guess i just got excited.

giving someone gems and jewels doesn’t show you how to love. it doesn’t reveal compassion, nor does it expose emotion. it’s like ripping out your heart and expecting to still be alive. it’s like gutting someone with fish bones, but when you rip open their insides all that pours out are plastic buttons and disappoint residing deep inside you. you’re left feeling more empty than before (is that possible?) but that’s the reality. you reach out, hoping for a hand to clasp yours and pull you out of that deep murky liquid that’s suffocating, but all that comes in contact are sneers from bystanders and the slimy feeling of guilt. it feels violent, that gaping hole in your body. so resentful, yet unnervingly hollow. what are you even angry at? is it your brain, who failed to understand that you did this to yourself, or your body? instead, you dream of the glittering Manhattan skyline, the same one that shows you how the city is too small for your growing pains. you’re not sure if it’s the hatred or your body slowly turning on itself, but does it matter anymore? the woman staring back at you from above curls her lips into a fish-eyed grin, and her sharp nails dig into your throat. everything tunes out. the television screen you’re viewing turns dark, but you can’t look away. so you sit through this film titled life even though you don’t remember paying for the ticket.
