2024 NOVEMBER POEM-A-DAY CHAPBOOK CHALLENGE: DAY 3 ~ HOW IT GOES
HOW IT GOES © 2024 G. Smith (BMI) ================== I got the word, Couldn’t believe what I’d heard, ‘Bout what happened to you down south. Didn’t quite know what to say. Next thing I knew I’d waited too many days. And my embarrassed heart sat firmly in my mouth.
And I wish I could’ve written that letter, Found the words, So you’d’ve felt better. The last thing I’ll forget, Is having this regret, After all that we’d been through, Not reaching out to you.
That’s how it goes, We had our highs and lows, And here’s what I remember; What started slow, Became a bonfire’s glow, That faded to a dying ember.
Still I wish, I could’ve written that letter, Found the words, So you’d’ve felt better. The last thing I’ll forget, Is having this regret, After all that we’d been through, Not being there for you.
That’s how it goes, We had our highs and lows, And here’s what I remember; What started slow, Became a bonfire’s glow, That faded to a dying ember.

PAD Day #10
I Am Enough
Nobody can love me more than me, But maybe that's why I am lonely. I can see every reason why I should twinkle in someone's eye, Because I see it every day in mine. I treat myself with awe and respect And so I expect nothing less. I know why my love is worth risking it all Because I risked it all to love myself. I see how it might be hard to compete With someone who loves as much as me, But if you can't love me the way I do, Then there's nothing more to say to you.

Napowrimo 2024
It’s been a while since I participated in Napowrimo. There’s no specific reason. Just too many thing going on during the month (during all the months). But, I decided I’d give a go, this year. I started a day late, but committed to writing a poem a day for the month (which is the point of Napowrimo). I decided not to worry too much if I missed a day or couldn’t think of anything to write at the…

Sanderstober 2024 Day 5!
I can’t art but I can do a writing prompt!
October 5: This one’s a play off a prompt from last year AND it’s a writing prompt! Take any famous character from a horror film, and create a nursery rhyme about them. You can make it completely innocent, or, like many nursery rhymes, remain dark but disguised in pretty language.
I did the 5 friends from The Cabin In The Woods movie and wrote it in the style of Edward Gorey’s macabre nursery rhymes—
That- that still counts right? 😅
Tumblr media
Hope to do more writing prompts if any come up! 😁-Erin (aka earlgreymylove)

the seasons change and suddenly
there's less skin in the world
there's more breath
exhaled beside snowbanks
rising up to the pitch black 5pm sky
the seasons change and I mourn
my favorite costumes
placed into a drawer
to be found again next year
the seasons change and I remember
there's more than one way
to feel like the skin I wear
is the skin that I've earned
the seasons change and I rediscover
ways to expose
the love i feel for myself
to the elements
costume change

Prayer for Cernunnos
Lord of the liminal, the in-between The place between life and death, man and woman, hunter and hunted Lord of the cycles of life, of both ancient moss covered forests, and hallowed burial mounds King to all who live in your realms, plant and animal, witch and Fae, and all that lies in between. I honour you

The Be My Valentine Challenge 2024
An event from @timecanalwayshealyou
💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌
The Be My Valentine Challenge is a challenge for writers, artists, and just any kind of creator, from the first of February to the 14th!
The idea is to create thirteen smaller, lead-up pieces based on the prompts; for example, ficlets/drabbles/one-shots, couplets, small artworks, individual gifs, et. cetera - and finish the challenge with a larger work; a fic, a full poem, a gifset, a big artwork, whatever sparks for you!
They can be a series or separate, and you're free to change mediums or fandoms for different days. If you'd rather create fourteen small works, or all large ones, or a combination of both, that's completely up to you! Prompts can be used after the event, combined, just do whatever! Only "properly" used prompts will be reblogged to this page, however.
The catch; it's all romance prompts, in the spirit of Valentine's Day and because everyone on this site is single and lonely.
Each day has a quote from an iconic or relevant romance film (The Notebook, Red, White and Royal Blue, The Fault In Our Stars, Pride And Prejudice, etc.), an iconic love song, and a romantic cliché, act, or item.
This account will be reblogging a few works (art, drabbles, ficposts, etc.) from the event tag (bemyvalentine2024) each day. Full tagging rules, the transcribed prompt list, and other event details are under the cut. If you're unsure about anything, send in an ask! Happy Creating!
💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌
Tumblr media
There will be an ao3 collection open from the first of February to the fourteenth for submission. Artworks, gifsets, etc. posted to tumblr should be tagged appropriately to be seen as part of the event.
The official spotify playlist for the event can be found here.
💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌
Anyone who completes this event is considered a Valentine, and anyone who participates is a Lover. At the end of the event, a form will be put out, so if you wish to be tagged in a masterpost, keep an eye out! I won't be fact-checking, it's an honour system, so please be honest.
There will be completion and participation badges, too! They're in the works as we speak!
💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌
Tagging System:
event tag - #bemyvalentine2024
prompt tag - #bemyvalentineno1, #bemyvalentineno2, etc.
(Or #bemyvalentinealt1, #bemyvalentinealt2, if you use alt promtps)
the theme or specific prompt/s you chose - #love poems, #quote, etc.
fandom or oc - #stranger things, #original content, etc.
any trigger warnings/nsfw tags if needed
and then your own tags!
Only works tagged correctly will be reblogged to this page, so please take note!

2024 NOVEMBER POEM-A-DAY CHAPBOOK CHALLENGE: DAY 6
Tumblr media
Because it's a Wednesday, and I've already broken with "tradition" by giving two prompts for the typical one from the Poetic Asides page, I'm gonna give three prompts like every other Wednesday...
ROBERT LEE BREWER/POETIC ASIDES: write an ADVICE poem.
It's a common human activity: to give and/or receive advice... ...on everything from how to cook a nice chili to how to process emotions (or manage finances).  Some advice might be as simple as to bring an umbrella to as complicated as how to game the stock market.  So consider advice you've given and/or received and make it a poem.
SHERWIN-WILLIAMS: DAYDREAM
CHARLOTTE RAINS DIXON: THE BEST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN.
Remember:
These prompts are springboards to creativity.
Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Poem a Day #14
Distracted
How does one follow A train of thought? It seems as though I always get lost. Arrows lead in circles Or to nowhere at all; There’s cheat codes drawn On the subway walls. Too many signs, Too many routes, Making me question, Making me doubt. I don’t mind getting off track But only if I can get back.

Tumblr media
For today’s prompts:
From Poetic Asides:
take the phrase "Poem for (blank),"
replace the blank with a new word or phrase,
make the new phrase the title of your poem,
and then, write your poem.
Possible titles might include:
"Poem for the Moon,"
"Poem for My Parents,"
"Poem for a Rainy Day,"
"Poem for Mike Tyson,"
and/or "Poem for Procrastinating on Folding the Laundry (Again)."
Tumblr media
From Charlotte Rains Dixon:
"So what if I don't?"
Tumblr media
And of course:
These prompts are springboards to creativity.
Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

The lights aflame upon an inky night,
Slim lightning bugs against the murky sky.
While life’s great pounding din extends up high,
A match takes flame against his hands, so bright.
The flare emits a blare of brilliant white.
One deep inhale to hang his lungs to dry.
An exhalation, though more of a sigh.
A bitter thing before a glowing sight.
“I miss the grass of youth,” so whispers he.
“The lovely place where I did freely roam,
A stark contrast upon this urban sea.”
The words descend beneath the smog’s dark foam
And grow no grander than a broken plea:
An echo of a wish for home.
