During the first 2 days after the cyclone hit we had absolutely No Access to power because we couldn't get the generator working - and we couldn't go stay at my grandpa's the city over or anything because literally EVERYWHERE in the area was without power too, and I was getting really scared for my geckos because I had no way for their heat lamps to work, especially Boosu who was just about to shed and I didn't want her to be stressed during it

So after looking up how to care for reptiles during an outage I moved their tanks downstairs to the family room which has a gas fireplace (basically the only reliable source of warmth then) to hopefully keep them somewhat warm. And at one point I decided to try carefully holding all four on me at the same time while sitting in front of the fireplace for warmth and from my body heat too -

So behold, me and my squadron of 3 leopard geckos and 1 confused crested gecko. They all did very well but you can clearly see Maple (leopard gecko, bottom right) trying to determine if my body counts as her territory and if she could pummel the other suspiciously gecko-shaped creatures off of it

Thinks about Minecraft hybrid characters (and how I remember they were new-ish back in 2013)

Thinks about DnD tonight and how I have the birthday snail (basically a wish spell with no bad side effects)

this reminded me that i meant to take some screenshots for a friend today of my minecraft world :D

so far it's going super great!! i smoothed out the slope coming down into the basin and added some slabs, although i havent made it look like a proper worn road yet, and ive added lampposts to help mob proof :] ive also gotten a conduit!!! at max capacity it covers the entire lake, so this is gonna make terraforming the bottom a BREEZE without having to worry about drowning. Also, the caves in the mountains around me have INSANE amounts of iron, which is good, because i dont have an iron farm yet and i need so. many. hoppers <- building pixlriffs' storage system from survival guide s2

been doing lil things on our minecraft server and it's. so nice. to have these tiny projects that add up to big things. i made a flower farm. then i decided to build a greenhouse around it. then another day i changed the shape of it up so it would work better. then another day i shaded it. then, today, months after starting, i filled it in with a bit more greenery on the inside. next time i'm going to add the quirky scientist set-up ladders and hanging bed included. it's going to be lovely!!
