thinking about pmd gti again
cw: death, also spoilers for Gates to Infinity
so like, it's explicitly stated that the protagonist wasn't the only human brought to the PMD world by Hydreigon. There were others. Countless humans who were "defeated" by Kyurem and "sent back to the human world."
Given how Kyurem was beating the absolute shit out of the protagonist, only sparing their life because the partner stepped in...
I think it's more than safe to assume Kyurem killed those humans.
Those yellow lights floating in the sky are dead bodies. Dead bodies being sent back to the human world.
Countless people in the human world have disappeared, only to later turn up dead, and you were about to become the next victim. And if Kyurem did finish you off? There would be even more victims.
Countless people from the human world were killed, it wouldn't be too surprising if those deaths made international news. A person disappears, and some time later, they come back stomped to death.
Imagine the protagonist goes back to the human world to snack on some ice cream or something, and while scrolling through their phone, they find some people talking about it online.
How horrifying must it feel to know that you were just one step (sorry) away from facing the same fate? I wouldn't be surprised if the protagonist had nightmares of Kyurem beating the shit out of them every night.
But it's not just Kyurem's fault. Hydreigon kept bringing more and more humans to die. Sacrificing who-knows-how-many people from a completely different world just to try to save his own. Honestly surprised the protagonist doesn't have any hatred towards him (or maybe they're really good at hiding it).
might be good material for an angst fanfic tho

I have a confession, during my Echoes of Wisdom playthrough I ALMOST hated Condé on sight because- put down the pitchforks please- because I saw him as the final nail in the coffin, the final confirmation that there wasn't going to be any Rito characters in Echoes of Wisdom.
I played Breath of the Wild as my first ever Legend of Zelda game and I got RIDICULOUSLY attached to them. From the moment Echoes of Wisdom was revealed, I was so excited about seeing chibi Rito NPCs. I was 100% certain they were going to be in the game because the Gorons, Gerudo and Zora were in the game, and Echoes looked like it was taking some design inspiration from BOTW/TOTK.
Sure they didn't show up in the advertisements, but they also didn't show what was up Hebra Mountain in the advertisments either. So in my head I was picturing a 2D Rito Village up in Hebra Mountain. After all, the Rito lived at the base of Hebra Mountain in BOTW. So my word association with Hebra Mountain was Ritos.
So when I saw that the focal character of the Hebra Mountain dungeon was a random yeti, my soul was crushed. Months of excitement down the drain. And that pissed me off. So I was mad at Condé for his existence.
That lasted all of two minutes.
Condé, my precious boy, I am so sorry, I love you, I was sobbing during the end credits.❤️

Gates to Infinity headcanon (SPOILERS UNDER CUT)
.
So you know how in the ending, Hydreigon tells Hero that when they leave, everyone would forget them?
What if the same applies to the other humans who failed their mission?
Any friends those humans meet? They forgot about them completely when the humans failed their mission. Explains why no one was suspicious about Munna or tried to warn Hero about Munna's intentions because their memories are pretty much wiped when the humans died, especially if some of the humans ended up in Post Town or a place near it.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
So, here we are. It's been over three years since the last PMD game, and almost 8 since the last one that wasn't a remake. Where does this leave us? Will we ever get another new PMD game? I don't know. Personally? I have hope that the series isn't dead. That one day, we will get another. But I can't say for certain. But even if this is the end…what a legacy PMD has left us with. Five lovely games, each with their own story to tell, their own joys to be had. Sure, some may be better than others, but they all carry the spirit of PMD within them. Rescue Team is a story about finding yourself in a foreign world, of finding home in the unlikeliest of places, of how even when the rest of the world is against you, you'll always have some people who believe in you. Explorers is a story about overcoming impossible odds, of staying true to oneself, of shining bright at world's end, of how if your legacy is still remembered, in a way, you'll still be alive. Adventure Squad is a story of finding joy in the little things, of how even simple acts of kindness can turn around the hearts of a whole village. Gates to Infinity is a story about holding onto hope even in the most desperate circumstances, of friendships that never truly die, of kindness begetting more kindness, of changing the world for the better, one step at a time. Super is a story of learning who you truly are, what makes you yourself, of how negativity is a necessary part of life, of globe-spanning friendships, of entrusted hope, of how you can do amazing things, of how it's ok to need help. Each one has its own, unique take on PMD. Each one has its own themes, its own joys it wants to share. Each one complements the rest, and all together? They make something truly wonderful. While it's possible that PMD might never return, that attatchement we have to it? That love we have for our partners? That joy we have when we remember our favorite moments from it? That will never truly fade. It might be buried, might be forgotten, but it will never truly die. It will always be there, waiting to return. In a way, PMD will never end. Like Special Episode 5 of Explorers teaches us, if our legacy is remembered, then we're still alive, in a way. Our spirit still shines bright, still affecting others. As long as we continue to cherish PMD, it will never die. I'm crying so hard as I type this all. I love PMD. I love it with all my heart. I think a good way to show why PMD will never truly die is to take a look at the fanworks made for it. There are hundreds, if not thousands of fanworks created about PMD. Comics, fanfics, askblogs, and more, all telling their own stories about PMD. All created because of love for PMD. Silver Resistance. Victory Fire. Hands of Creation. Warped Skies. Quenched Torch. Legends Legacy. Shatter. Daily Life in Pokemon Paradise. Flake-N-Rudy. Askanotslownotking. Free Fiction. The Dreamstone. Places We Call Home. Galaxies Above. On Borrowed Time. Fledglings. Liberators of Fate. Sierra 10. Flowerbeds. Irau's Journal. Psychic Sheep. Zero the Hero. Path of Valor. Even those of us who aren't telling full stories, those of us who make fanart, those of us who make fanmusic and remixes, those of us who just gush about PMD. We're all keeping PMD alive. To everyone who has ever made any sort of PMD fanwork, discussed their love for the series, or even just recommended it to a friend. To anyone who has ever helped keep PMD alive. Thank you. Even if we never get a new PMD game, it will never truly die, as long as we continue to cherish it. Thank you all so much.
I have my own PMD fanworks, if anyone wishes to check them out.
Eternal Shadows, a PMD story taking place post-Super, about a human-turned-Oshawott who wishes to return home.
In Tandem, a hybrid PMD and trainerfic, about a PMD Tropius who wishes to become a trainer in the human world.
Then, Then, and Now, a hybrid Rescue Team and Legends Arceus story, of a protagonist who goes through both.
A Comprehensive Guide to Items, a guide to items in the PMD world, and how they work, written in-universe by the Rescue Team partner.
A Way to Reunite, a Gates to Infinity oneshot, about an alternate epilogue if the Worldcore didn't exist.
Day of Heroes, a oneshot celebrating the four main PMD games. The protagonists and partners of each game celebrate a holiday dedicated to them, together.
I also have a variety of PMD askblogs.
@ask-team-searchlights is an askblog for the cast of Eternal Shadows, and @ask-world-savers-council is an askblog for the cast of Day of Heroes. And @adventuresquadharvest is a new askblog I started today, for giving love for Adventure Squad.
If you decide to check out any of these, I hope you enjoy.
I'm also always available to chat about PMD! I have a bunch of headcanons and worldbuilding about the series that I'd love to talk about more! Feel free to either approach me in DMs, ask me on this blog, or contact me on Discord! My username there is ifbench, same as here.
I hope you've all enjoyed my PMD rambles. Thank you for listening.

We have also just finished a replay of Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon. We highly recommend playing this game! We are being attacked by a game that we last beat several years ago when it first came out, where we went in knowing nothing of the story and went out having been dealt a physical blow to our heart. Very fun game. For legal reasons how to obtain it is A Mystery For Sure but you should play it.

Alright here's a whumpy ask. What's the most unexpected piece of media you've found whump in?
Oh lord, I play and watched all sorts of kids' media, and my GOD, there's some whump for kids shows and games, good lord.
If I have to pick, the Super Mario Bros Movie, specifically when Luigi gets kidnapped. He was literally shoved in a cage that was over lava, and later HE NEARLY DIED WHEN THE CAGE WAS GOING DOWN TO THE LAVA. My ass watching it was like "O_o They went all out towards the poor guy, Jesus."
Honorable mentions are Sonic (one game, Sonic Forces, has Sonic taken captive and TORTURED OFFSCREEN), and Pokemon (especially Mystery Dungeon. Three games has whump in them: in Explorers you and your partner get kidnapped by someone you both look up to, get NEARLY EXECUTED, and had to be on the run, in Gates to Infinity, your partner gets kidnapped and held as bait towards you, and a Pokemon goes and outright MURDERS another Mon in front of you, before they beat you nearly to death, and in Super you and your friends get turned to stone and BROUGHT TO HELL.)
Yeah. I have plenty of stories with unexpected whump, LOL.

Welcome!
I'm Bench, and this is an OOC hub for my Pokemon IRL blogs.
I'll be using this to share behind the scenes stuff about my blogs, along with sharing stuff about potential new blogs, OOC posts about community stuff, writing off-screen stuff for some of my blogs, and more!
Below the cut is a list of all my Pokemon IRL blogs, along with important details about them.
I hope you all find this blog useful!
@wingsofachampion - A blog about a Tropius from the PMD world, who woke up one day in the mainline Pokemon world. She thinks humans are the coolest things ever, and is trying her best to find her way in a world filled with them. She has been adopted by Concordia of @lovenpeace-pkmn, and refers to her as "mama 2". She also has a biological mother, an Aurorus, who forbids her from using her "special name". - Very Active
@goldenrodchef - A blog about a human named Gen, who was summoned to the PMD world, and turned into an Oshawott-Sobble hybrid. He managed to return home, but has yet to regain his human body. He frequently struggles with his inhumanity, and desperately wants to be human again. He also tries his best to help others who have been turned into Pokemon. - Very Active
@zoruascanbetrainerstoo - A blog about a Zorua named Illanero from the PMD world, who woke up in the mainline Pokemon world, and decided to become a trainer. After becoming champion of Hoenn, xey received a strange connection orb that encouraged xem to become champion of even more regions. OOCly, this blog is an excuse for me to play through the mainline Pokemon games. - Quite Active
@interregionalgyminspections - A blog about a gym inspector who, with his Absol friend, goes around to make sure various gyms across the mainline Pokemon world are up to code. - Quite Active
@askthelonelyninetales - A dual Pokemon IRL/Pokeask blog, about the Ninetales from PMD Rescue Team. She is very, very lonely. - Somewhat Active
@amewwayofliving - A blog for a Mew who quit their job in the legendary pantheon to live a human-like life. They are having some difficulties, due to being a legendary psychic floating cat. - Quite Active
@obletadetective - A blog for a Servine who's very inspired by Herlock Sholmes from Great Ace Attorney. He also lives in an original PMD world, that's very steampunk themed. He has trouble paying rent. - Slightly Active
@sentretofcreation - A blog for a Sentret who's actually the Arceus of Gen's world. They're very friendly, and try their best to help anyone they can. - Somewhat Active
@great-thief-yatagarasu - A blog about Kay Faraday from Ace Attorney, but in a Pokemon world. Not a Faller, but has the Ace Attorney events adapted to fit a Pokemon setting. Takes place in the same world as @bigtittylawyer. - Somewhat Active
@tacklrnews - A blog about a Pelipper from the PMD world who writes news articles. This blog writes articles about stuff happening on people's blogs in the Pokemon IRL, Pokemon RPC, and Pokeask communities. It is also open for co-authors, should anyone wish to help me write articles on various happenings. Currently there is one co-author, run by my friend Melmy. - Inactive (For now)
@gildedgaggle - A blog about a quintet of internet friends who decided to make a blog together. This was my first official Pokemon IRL blog. - Inactive (For now)
@teamgardeners - A blog about my protagonist team from PMD Gates to Infinity. Contains major spoilers for that game, so be warned. Will sometimes be referenced on some of my other blogs. - Inactive (For now)
@worldsaverscouncil - A blog about my protagonist teams from PMD Rescue Team, PMD Explorers, and PMD Super. Contains major spoilers for those games, so be warned. Will sometimes be referenced on some of my other blogs. - Inactive (For now)

@ask-professor-cedar-pmd - A blog about a professor-in-training who ended up in the PMD world, and decided to start researching mystery dungeons. My very first Pokemon IRL blog, from before Pokemon IRL was an established community. - Inactive (For now)
@pkmnirlblogboosting - Not an in-character blog, but an OOC resource to help people get their blogs off the ground, and for people to find blogs to follow.

10, 15, and 18 for PMD Questions :3
(Questions from here)
10. What starters would you add?
Grins. Hey guys have you heard of a cool little mod called pmd expanded sky I hear it's extremely awesome and cool-
Okay okay jokes aside. I added all the mainline starters to expanded sky (alongside Zorua and rockruff!) and I'm firm that they all deserve to be in there.
It's been aaaaaages since I updated it but I've been very slowly putting together a bunch more 'mons for the next big patch since it's easier to increase the size of the starter least nowadays thanks to chesyon's patch. I'm halfway through implementing hisuian zorua but here's a sneak peek at some of the other lines in my spreadsheet who I'm looking to include!
Tumblr media
15. Favourite PMD overall?
Gonna have to be basic and say eos - I think it's just the best all-rounder (great story, music, gameplay, best mission system, etc) and there's so many easy little QOL patches people have made to fix the more annoying things (adding the move shortcuts from the later games is a godsend thank u skytemple patchers).
It'd probably be gates if the gameplay was better, and it had a full postgame though. If we were JUST going off story (and music in the second half) it'd be gates hands-down. Gates to infinity they could never make me hate you 💜
EDIT: FUCK IT SAID FAVOURITE CHARACTER DIDN'T IT. SOMEONE ELSE ASKED THIS ALSO SO I'M GONNA LEAVE THIS RAMBLE HERE AND ANSWER PROPERLY IN THE NEXT ASK EFGDGDGDGD
18. Best moment in any of the titles?
Tossup between a few scenes from gates to infinity I think! The scene where you rescue partner alongside hydreigon at holehills, that scene where kyurem (sorta) kills him, the moment after beating the main story where you're suddenly thrown into playing as partner... No screw it, that last one is absolutely my favourite. I got spoiled on it years after the game played out and after I'd never beat it and that one spoiler instantly made me pick the game back up again and play it to completion. It's all I've ever wanted out of a pmd game. Partner having to work to get hero back, the player having to work to get hero back... Fuck. Yeah, absolute favourite moment in the series.
(popping back in here with an edit to say that a veeeeeeery good runner up for me is the on the run montage in rescue team. That part is STILL one of the most emotional moments in the series to me and the music in that scene is incredible.)

The Core of the World, and the Hill of Universal Order
Major Gates to Infinity spoilers under the cut!
The Worldcore is such an odd, strange place. Even its name alone is strange, being a single word, instead of two words like most PMD locations. Almost like it’s an entity, instead of just a location.
It only gets stranger as you delve in. The enemy Pokemon you encounter here are mostly species from Munna’s gang. Chandelure, Whirlipede, Toxicroak, Purugly, Salamence, and Munna.
And the music, while I wish it had its own theme, is Tyrian Maze, a piece of music that, if I’m hearing it correctly, combines the Magnagate motif with the Desperation motif. A song you’ve been hearing all throughout the game, symbolizing, well, desperation.
And then, at the bottom, is the Hill of Universal Order, where it seems like you can see the starry sky, despite seemingly being deep underground. And from there, if you wish with all your heart...you, the player character, come back.
It’s terrifying, but seemingly benevolent. The faces you see are familiar, and yet not. And the starry sky...
I believe that the Hill of Universal Order does not exist on the PMD planet. Rather, it exists in the center of the PMD universe, and the starry sky you see is the sight from the universe’s core. And the Worldcore is the gate to the universe’s core. It has the magnagate motif in its music, after all, and magnagates are known for transporting people long distances via mystery dungeons.
I believe, in the wake of the event that lead to mystery dungeons existing, the Worldcore became something not quite of the PMD world. Because it wasn’t, it was born of two worlds.
It tests you, obstructing your path with the Pokemon you fear the most, knowing exactly what will make you scream. And yet, it isn’t too deep of a climb, almost like it wants you to get to the Hill. But you have to prove yourself, prove how desperate you are. You have to prove yourself to the Worldcore that you deserve to have that wish.
I headcanon that the Worldcore’s mysteriousity level is truly infinite. Any devices made for measuring mysteriousity just get an error reading or break when brought into the Worldcore. It’s boundless, eternal, infinite. It cannot be measured, only witnessed.
It’s a place born of two worlds, connected to the center of one, and almost seems to have a consciousness of its own. It’s a trek through your greatest fears, to obtain your greatest treasure.
The Worldcore is a place of infinity.

Gates to Infinity
During my initial PMD playthroughs, I was considering skipping Gates altogether, as I had heard almost nothing but negative things about it up until that point.
However, my friend who I was liveblogging my PMD playthroughs to, she said that Gates to Infinity was good, too.
And so, after completing Rescue Team DX and Explorers, I acquired Gates to Infinity.
Quite possibly the best decision to get a game I've ever made.
As while Gates to Infinity is not my favorite game of all time, it's the game that brought the most to me, that affected me for the better the most.
As while games like Mario and Luigi Dream Team are amazing fun experiences that I treasure dearly…they didn't change my life like Gates to Infinity did.
It was Gates to Infinity that caused me to stick with PMD. It's what inspired me to start writing Eternal Shadows. It's what led me to meet so many amazing people. It's why I'm still talking about PMD today.
No other game has brought me so much happiness in the long term as Gates to Infinity has.
It's a bit silly why I started Eternal Shadows in the first place, really. I was playing through Gates to Infinity's opening, and it was so different from both Rescue Team DX's and Explorers'. It had an air to it that neither of those had.
2020 me thought it felt a lot like Kingdom Hearts, and I decided to write a PMD opening with very heavy Kingdom Hearts inspiration as a proof of concept.
That "proof of concept" is what is now known as Eternal Shadows.
Beyond how it personally shaped me, though…Gates to Infinity is a truly wonderful game.
Some may say it's a downgrade over Explorers. That it took things away from what made Explorers so great.
And…I would agree with that second sentence, in a way.
Gates to Infinity does remove a lot of stuff from Explorers. No personality quiz, severely limited Pokemon roster, no Spinda's Cafe, no IQ, no long second story in the postgame, and no purple Kecleon or Kangaskhan.
But Gates to Infinity doesn't need to be Explorers. It's not Explorers. And much of what it removes, it adds something new in its place.
While there's no personality quiz, for the first time, you can choose your protagonist's species, a feature that would remain in newer games.
IQ is gone, replaced by the much less grindy Team Skills system. No longer do you have to grind for gummis so your partner won't walk over exposed traps.
There's no Spinda's Cafe, but you build something similar through Paradise. You can build your own facilities, talk to your recruits in the town you have built, and it even serves as a hub.
There's no postgame story to the magnitude of Explorers', but what is there, is something unlike anything Explorers or Rescue Team gives you. It might not be as long, but a story doesn't need to be long to be good.
And while the loss of the purple Kecleon, Kangaskhan, and the large Pokemon roster could be considered objective downgrades…they don't ruin the experience at all, at least for me.
There's other flaws, too, like the slow text speed, and inability to choose gender, but I digress, and don't mind them at all.
Gates to Infinity doesn't carry over the letter of Explorers. It isn't a sequel to it in the way that Explorers is one to Rescue Team. But it carries over the spirit of it.
Like Adventure Squad, it still has the heart of PMD.
Yet unlike Adventure Squad, it's not afraid to show it.
Gates to Infinity still tells a heartfelt story about a former human who winds up in a world of Pokemon.
It has well-developed characters, amazing music that uses motifs wonderfully, and a touching farewell scene.
What does being a PMD game mean, really?
Does it mean pixel graphics, macguffins to collect, and guilds?
Or is it the story of a former human, who partners up with a Pokemon, eventually saving the world, before having to say goodbye?
Of course, some might just say "PMD gameplay". And there's nothing wrong with that answer!
The dungeon-delving gameplay is a core part of the experience, too. And sometimes, it makes the majority of the experience, like with Adventure Squad.
And yes, Gates to Infinity has some problems with the mystery dungeons. Repetitive room generation, party members wandering off, and that small Pokemon roster.
But it also has things Explorers doesn't.
It introduces the reunion cape item, my favorite item in all of PMD, and very useful for reuniting with lost party members.
It has outside areas to mystery dungeons, a first for the series, and even sometimes has small puzzles with them.
And without the IQ system, your party members have much better navigation and combat skills by default.
But the gameplay isn't what I love about Gates to Infinity so much. It's its story, characters, and the emotions it instilled in me.
I cried not even 15 minutes into Gates to Infinity, when I heard Ragged Mountain for the first time. I recognized it from Oddity Cave from Rescue Team DX, and…yeah.
I initially thought I wasn't going to be able to name my Snivy partner, but then we get to the future site of Paradise, and he lets me give him a name, in-universe.
Virizion's character arc is wonderful, and I love how she and Keldeo reconcile.
I love Dunsparce's bravery, and how Emolga gives up his spot on the Great Glacier expedition so Dunsparce can go.
One of my favorite moments in the entire game, and even just thinking about it right now is making me start to cry.
I love the first-person perspectives with Umbreon seeking shelter in Post Town, and how Espeon just wanted to do the right thing and feels so guilty for putting Swadloon in danger.
And Emolga!
Emolga my absolute beloved.
I love his friendship with Umbreon, I love his reconciliation and developing relationship with Virizion, I love his goofiness! He's my favorite canon Pokemon character ever!
And not to skip over Hydreigon, either. The Voice of Life is such a cool title and concept, and I love how you think they'll be the villain, only for them to come and save you, and be an absolute dork.
Even the protagonist! Even they have some character to them, and actually talk!
And then the story. Oh, the story of Gates to Infinity.
For a bit of context, I was…not feeling very well mentally when I started playing the PMD games.
It's a bit cliche, but, well…I was feeling pretty hopeless.
And Gates to Infinity took that hopelessness and melted it away.
Its theme of how hope can be found even in the darkest of times, how you can find friends even when you feel like you're all alone…it meant a lot to me. It still means a lot to me.
And the ending…I have never cried harder at a story in my life.
Everyone's final messages to you through the frism, how they remembered you, how even if you may never meet again, how they wanted you to have a good life…it broke me, in a good way.
My second favorite moment in all of PMD, and part of what led me to writing A Way to Reunite.
Gates to Infinity may not be Explorers. It may lack stuff, even important stuff that Explorers has.
But Gates to Infinity has heart. So, so much heart.
It's not soulless, it's the farthest thing from soulless.
Gates to Infinity is a true PMD game, and I'll always love it with all my heart.
I've also compiled my liveblog notes from when I played Gates to Infinity for the very first time, if anyone is interested in reading that, but unfortunately it'll have to be on Discord, as I initially wrote them on Discord, and porting around 5000 words of liveblogging to here does not sound like fun to me.
So, if you want to read it, hit me up on Discord! My username is @ifbench, just like on here.
I hope you've all enjoyed this, and I hope to have my Super retrospective ready soon.

Your feelings on explorers are well known, but what do you think about the other mystery dungeon games?
I never played rescue team (the original or new one), so don’t really have many opinions on it. I vaguely recall watching a playthrough for blue rescue team, but it was 10+ years ago XD From what I recall the plot was interesting, but I didn’t feel particularly drawn to any of the characters (not like explorers)
Gates to Infinity wasn’t bad, although I didn’t get as into the plot. Out of the three I played, I feel like this was the weakest installment. I loved having the unova pokemon there, it was a lot of fun playing as snivy, but I would’ve liked having more options for hero/partner (I finally settled on axew partner, but it didn’t feel very fitting somehow). Plus, somehow the cast felt very forgettable…I don’t really remember anything about them, other than Dunsparce, Emolga, and Virizeon being some kind of thing alsksjdkakdls. The plot twist did take me by surprise, and I remember liking Hydreigon, although the details of his character are a little fuzzy now 😅 also Munna deserves therapy.
Super Mystery Dungeon felt more developed to me—the addition of some post game plot l, especially after Gates, was well appreciated. It was interesting seeing the direction they took where hero/partner were assumed to be/treated like children (especially if you were an adult playing, like myself alsjdjakdjka). By then I was suspicious of the pmd formula of a twist villain, so I was just out there suspecting everyone (parents, teachers, mentors, children, and even partner). The (SPOILER ALERT) change of having partner disappear really got me tho—as bad as having the hero disappear was, the alternative was so much worse. I think my biggest criticism was that some plot elements were a little…confusing? The whole thing abt partner/Mew, I’m still not sure whether they’re one literal entity, or somehow it was just the same spirit, or what…but it was an interesting idea. In general, the biggest thing I remember was the turning to stone and exploring that realm, but much of the rest of the plot eludes me. I also loved all the callbacks to older games in the missions :)
The other big thing for gti/psmd was the main villains. I wasn’t a huge fan of the Bittercold/Dark Matter—having to fight some kind of…concept…just felt kind of odd. I thought it was executed better the second time, but the idea of such a vague entity not just causing harm just by existing, but actively directing others to cause destruction on their behalf was…interesting. So they kind of were alive, but also…not. I think I rather prefer the Explorer’s style where there’s an actual bastard behind everything >:)
I have so many opinions abt this franchise, so it’s always fun to go on a ramble! Thanks for the ask! :3
