Sometimes you just have one of those moments where the progress we've made as a culture get thrown into stark relief. You look at something and go "Holy shit, that would never have happened when I was a kid."

Today, I had one of those moments when I realized that the teenage boys I'm working with are just. genuinely, openly enthusiastic about going to Build-a-Bear for their outing.

These are sixteen and seventeen year old boys! They just had a whole conversation about what to name their "cute", mostly new squishmallows! They're genuinely excited that they're going to Build-a-Bear this weekend and asking other kids to pick up specific accessories for them!!

Holy shit, that never would've happened when I was 16. None of the boys would have dared to be visibly interested - and neither would most of the girls! There would have been a million gay jokes and "Haha, you're a girl" jokes and "What are you, a baby?" jokes. Teenagers weren't even supposed to care about anything back then!

Less than 15 years later, and I'm watching three 17 year old boys treat all that as not even worthy of comment.

So let's call that a reason for hope. Even when the kids aren't alright, in some ways apparently they are alright. Go Gen Z, honestly. It's so lovely to watch you guys just openly doing and saying stuff that, when I was a teen, would've been a social death sentence.

it's always "autism acceptance" until the autistic person is weird, or fat, or a man, or has poor hygiene, or a POC, or makes unfunny jokes, or isn't a cute feminine gay, or is actually bad at communicating, or needs to have things explained to them, or is too loud, or too quiet, or needs to be told something multiple times to understand it, or has mannerisms that make people stare at them, or, or, or, etc. if you would show patience to the cute autistic girl who collects plushies and stims by flapping her hands then you MUST show equal patience to the large autistic boy who stims by humming or hitting his head and worms underwater welding into every conversation. I am no longer asking. your acceptance cannot begin and end with people you deem palatable.

Sky Kid Plush (wip) - update 1

Since TGC's official merch shop doesn't have a moth plush (or sky kid plush besides the aurora doll set), I'm making my own. This plush is posable and will be able to have interchangeable cosmetics. I'm currently just making the basic moth cosmetics for this little guy since that's the easiest thing for me to make while I'm on my Christmas break

Cria plushie progress! Some of the legs got a little twisted while sewing, and the like bumpiness of the joints did not show as much as I hoped (I’ll exaggerate it a bit for version two of the pattern) but I think it’s pretty good so far!

…it’s also a pretty good dog pattern so far if I just change the neck and chest a little, so there’s that too lol editing to add: I looked at more photos of crias and I think I need to make the legs longer or the body smaller? So maybe this really is a dog pattern

I MADE LOTS OF PROGRESS THIS WEEKEND Ngl, it's almost surreal to slowly have this version of your character standing there and although Sinthia is far from being done I'm already really proud of the way she's coming together.

Getting the embroidery machine was definitely the right decision because as I was hoping it boosted my need to make more plushies immensely!

The thing is, this sight just does not stop being funny

I've stitched all the panels of bdubs' torso together now! and added stuffing around the dog toy squeaker inside, so he's really starting take form of a solid creature.

sort of got that caterpillar drip

and a squeak for good measure!

a little kitty plushie update!! wanted to share some of the behind the scenes sample pictures for luna, aurora and matcha!

sample pictures always look rough bc they don't have perfect lighting and I usually spend some time brushing their fur so it looks nice for the pictures I take so asdlkjgs I promise they'll look better in their official pictures but I love how these turned out!! the siamese patterning for luna, the snowshoe patterning for aurora, and the grey tabby patterning for matcha are all so good and I'm excited to get them and take some better photos of them!! the campaign is still a good three-four weeks away at the least but we're getting closer to ready!! :D
