i think publication order is the best way to adapt the narnia books into movies because if you want the child actors to age at around the same rate as the characters then you start with the lion the witch and the wardrobe, then prince caspian a year later, then dawn treader another year later, then silver chair, and then in the gap between silver chair and last battle you do magician's nephew and the horse and his boy and that gives the kids time to believably age seven-ish years before the last battle.
