Goyuu Hanahaki disease AU with a twist, so instead of hana (flower) it's baby so it's Babyhaki disease, where instead of flowers grow inside your lungs when you have a crush on someone, you grow a baby in your belly instead. If the love is requited, the baby will look like the one who is crushed on, and the bigger and deeper the feelings involved, the more the baby will take after the 'father', but if the love is unrequited, the baby will either be miscarriaged, a stillborn, or in a rare chance continue to live, they'll look exactly like the one crushing on or the 'mother'. So when peace finally comes down to Jujutsu and Gojo-sensei is saved like the others, Choso, Higuruma, Nanami. And out of nowhere Yuji starts showing symptoms of morning sickness with a slight bump on his belly that keeps growing by the weeks, throwing everyone out of the loop of discovery.

They begin speculating, from Yuji got another curse he ingested (to which Yuji swore he didn't, the last time was his big brothers the Kusouzu but Choso confirmed they had all dissolved within Yuji's soul fully), to Yuji was conceiving a cursed womb after unknowingly got impregnated by an unregistered curse (which is unlikely because Yuji would've known unless he was taken while being unconscious. In that case, Choso who was monitoring him would've also know). So none of the speculations were likely to happen.

As Yuji's condition can only be explained as extraordinary pregnancy and everyone is at their wits' end with his belly getting bigger.

Yuji who (despite trying hard to pretend, saying he'll be fine and doesn't want to abort the baby, wanting to keep them at least until the day they should be born because doesn't want to object whatever it is growing inside him as another case of aborted fetus, just like all his other big brothers) begins to show signs of demotivation, is sapped of his usual bright energy, and is getting sickly every other day. Until one day Nanami comes back from the library, showing him a ripped part of an old scroll, which explains a rare ancient curse that caused the phenomeneon called the babyhaki disease, and that whatever illness is eating away at Yuji's body and soul will be cured once the fetus is out of his system, alive or not.

"Perhaps, this is the one," Nanami explains, "it could be due to the effect of last time ancient curses and incarnations alike surged after the CG and disappeared along with Sukuna's parting, but maybe this ancient curse lingered and infiltrated the very person whose body attracted and was conducive to host it. Itadori-kun's body constitution as an innate vessel which had hosted a dormant curse for a long time before, ever since he was born without himself knowing, now said curse was gone, leaving his body void, it was plausible if something like this were to happen."

All the people in the room stared hard at Yuji, still reeling from the shock of the only plausible explanation of what could be the 1st time they ever encountered in his lifetime. But then again, the case of Sukuna's vessel was also the only time they had ever witnessed and it was all tied to Yuji, so this being another case w/ the boy is far from impossible.

Yuji could only shrink under all the hard and questioning stares directed at him. Just like the others, he'd never heard about that ancient curse and it was true, that he had never realized he was born with a curse residing within him before, until he got acquainted by jujutsu. Perhaps after Sukuna, it made his soul and body just sensitize and is prone to other curses to keep residing inside him.

"It says if both parties are human then the fetus will be human, not a cursed womb," Nanami continues, still not making any of them relieved, except for Yuji, yet he tries to hide it by avoiding everyone's stare.

"Who is it, Yuji?" Gojo suddenly asks, his voice cold and detached of any emotion.

"What do you mean, Sensei?"

"If this is the only plausible explanation for this rare phenomenon than it could only be what really happened, surely you would know who the other person is?"

Yuji goes silent and at that point, everyone gets the message. Yuji doesn't want anyone to know who the other party is. Most likely because it's unrequited.

Even after weeks of being coaxed, Yuji still refuses to say anything, opting to just avoid everyone's entirely, much to everyone's dismay bcs his health gets deteriorated further, so they all agree to leave it for now and focus on keeping Yuji and the fetus healthy till the day of delivery. Because stillborn or not, that's the only way to get the sickness out of Yuji's system entirely.

Yuji of course knows who it is, it's none other than Sensei...

But, if the curse is true, then it'd be better to just keep it himself. If the baby is alive, he'll look exactly like Yuji himself, he's 100% sure of it, so no one is gonna be the wiser and he won't cause any trouble to his Sensei by forcing him this burden.

This is Yuji's one-sided feelings, so he's the one gonna be responsible for it, not the other. He doesn't want to tie Sensei to him out of obligation that none of them thought was even possible if not for this shitty curse that came out of nowhere and due to his weird body constitution of being a vessel. No, his Sensei is too important for this world and the others. It won't do him any good if Sensei has to have another responsibility under him when he already got too many in his hands, Yuji thought, especially since Gojo-sensei wouldn't have wanted it in the first place but will be forced to take the responsibility as an adult.

So when the day the baby is due, after 1 hour of difficult surgery and another half an hour of recovery, where after Yuji finally awakes to the sight of everyone having another shock of their life, himself included, as he's face to face with the sight of tiny Gojo Satoru swaddled in cotton blanket and put on his bare chest.

Yuji, unable to comprehend the situation still, moves his eyes to a rare sight of (Yuji has to rub his eyes once because he thinks he must be dreaming), Gojo-sensei's face with a drying tear tracks on his cheeks, holding his hand tightly

"S-Sensei..." Yuji whispers hoarsely but soon clams up, not able to form another word.

The room goes into pregnant silence, until Shoko is the one breaking the ice.

"It's alright, Itadori, this is also the 1st time for all of us to see Gojo crying, some of us thought he didn't even have tear ducts..."

"But..."

"Honestly, I'm not surprised this is how the baby turns out. Now, if you'll excuse me, anyone can stay, but I need to take the baby."

"What? Why??" Yuji begins to feel anxious and moves his free hand that isn't held by Gojo to hold his baby but Shoko is faster.

"Your baby is small, and he didn't breath simultaneously upon delivery. And yes, it's a boy, Itadori, so congrats to the Gojo family I guess. We all actually thought the Gojo bloodline will end with this idiot, he himself thinks so."

"But for now, the baby needs to be put into the incubator and observed for a while.

"Don't worry Yuji, the machine is right beside you here, see?" Choso is sitting on his other side, smiling and stroking Yuji's hair gently and pointing to a glass box behind him where Shoko puts the baby inside and deftly attaches all kinds of tubes and wires, including a pediatric CPAP ( mechanical oxygen supply) to cover his tiny nose and mouth. Only now Yuji realizes how small and pale the baby looks. Tears well up in his eyes in an instant, seeing his baby conditions.

It's because he wasn't healthy during his pregnancy, he was restless, and despite hiding it, he was heartbroken, thinking his baby won't even get the chance to know who his father is. So it affects him because the baby is human. The guilt starts eating away inside his chest.

"Yuji..." Gojo softly calls, he rubs his moist eyes several times and drags a palm down his face. His tone somewhat heavy with regrets

"Yuji...yuji..yuji..."

Yuji pushes over the lump in his throat and croaks, "Sensei, so-sorry...I-"

"Yuji, why did you never say anything to me? Even when I asked you who the other is? We could've saved so much time..." Gojo was looking at him square in the eyes, there's no blaming in his eyes, only sadness and regrets.

"You shouldnt try bearing the pregnancy alone, if I had known, I would've been around you more, but I was worried I would be annoying you."

"But...I never thought, I never thought you would feel the same way about me, Sensei..."

"Why not? did you ever ask me before?"

"No...but, you told me about how you got sealed back then and it was because you thought of that man, right? I asked Ieiri-san about him, and I, I just assumed from the stories..."

"But did you ever ask me directly?"

Yuji lowers his eyes and says nothing.

"Suguru is my best friend, a comrade, at one point in my life I considered him a confidant, a family, the way I felt about him is the way Yuji feels about Megumi and Nobara. It's not the same way I feel about Yuji." Gojo squeezes his hand tighter.

Yuji looks up at him and gasps, "R-really?" unable to hide the hope and warm beginning to seep inside all the pores in his body and voice.

"Truly." Gojo nods, nothing but sincerity in his voice. He brings Yuji's hand to his lips and pecks it gently, raising the blush on Yuji's cheeks.

Choso clears his throat loudly and glares at Gojo, but it goes ignored by the other sorcerer.

Yuji is at loss for words, and Megumi chimes in. "Tbh, Itadori, Gojo-sensei was not being subtle at all, though I know he tries hard to."

"Huh? Seriously? I didn't know that?"

"It's true though..." Gojo confirms.

"Then, Sensei! Shouldn't you also say something to me?" Suddenly Yuji feels they are both in the wrong for wasting so much time when they can actually be together.

"But Yuji! Think about it from my perspective Yuji, I'm your teacher and an adult, you're my student and still a minor, even if the Great Teacher Gojo Satoru, the strongest sorcerer of modern era, lives by his own rule, I'm still concern about what's right or wrong for the people I care about!

"Plus, I thought Yuji have always had eyes for Nanamin, so I don't want to interfere your feelings unless I'm sure, if not for this curse...no maybe it's not a curse, but actually a blessing??"

Nanami groans, "Whatever it is, don't bring me into this," he sighs, "Gojo-san was just doing what adults should've done at this situation, Itadori. What's important is now everything is finally out in the clear and hopefully the sickness is cured now the baby is born."

"Oniichan thinks Nanami or Fushiguro is the better option, Yuji." Choso comments randomly.

"Hush you! I'm your brother-in-law now, so be nice to me from now on, big brother."

"Same goes to you, it means I'm your elder now so you should obey me. Don't you even think of hurting Yuji or breaking his heart or I'll k!ll you when you sleep and kidnap Yuji and his baby."

"CHOSO!" Yuji yells.

"Let him try, Yuji, he won't be able to do it anyway. Besides, I don't plan on leaving Yuji ever again let alone hurt him!"

"Good, then I dare you to make a binding vow for that with Yuji, so if you so much as accidentally violate it, you'll get repercussions."

"I don't want that!" Yuji says.

"Maybe what you mean is a vow of marriage, Choso-san," Nanami supplies, "but that's gonna have to wait until Yuji is 18."

"Technically, Japan's laws can allow under 18 as long as the parents' give permission," Higuruma adds, seeing as Yuji's guardian is now Choso-"

"Then, oniichan, thank you for your help! I owe you big one this time," Gojo bows slightly.

"Hmph, if Yuji wants it, I'll think abt it after you make that binding vow."

"No problem!" Gojo finally backs to his cheery self.

"What? Wait, Sensei!"

"Don't worry, Yuji, I mean what I said before, I won't break it no matter what."

"But the baby, the baby is sick...will he...survive?"

"Of course he will! He's our baby, isn't he? So he must be also The strongest baby! Just so you know, Yuji, Sensei was also born prematurely, weighed only 2,4 kg, and length 46 cm, and look how tall and healthy I am now! So don't worry he'll pull through and grow big and strong like us too, hell, he may even surpass me in height!"

Yuji chuckles.

"Hmm I prefer he'll be cute like Yuji, though," Choso says. "But since he has your face, he's not gonna be cute. Yuji, make sure your next baby looks like you, okay? So oniichan can play with little Yuji to his heart's content."

"Oi, choso, don't be weird," Yuji sighs. "In the first place, I can conceive due to a curse, is it possible for me to conceive again after this, I mean, now that Gojo-sensei and I know about our feelings-" He stops himself, suddenly it dawns on him and everything still feels so surreal.

To know that his unrequited love he had hid since forever, determined to bring it to his grave with him, is somehow not just reciprocated but is given back stronger, if the fact that his baby's face looks nothing short of Gojo Satoru's carbon copy, albeit a tiny version of him. Unable to hide his shyness, Yuji buries his face in his hands.

"Oh, we'll never know till we try, don't we?" Gojo singsongs with a sly tone in his voice, "I'll make sure we'll try many times to make lots of babies after this, Yuji~"

Yuji buries his face further, pulling his blankets through his head so only charming sight of his red ears and nape are showing.

"Binding vow first!" Choso shouts again, to which Gojo only laughs heartily.

Looking at both the adorable sight of his beloved Yuji and the baby secured within a blanket inside the incubator beside them, a sudden tranquility and warmth wash over his whole being.

Satoru always thinks himself belongs to no one but his own. And that the world should bow to him in exchange of him being responsible to maintain its peace

And that he's the only one should carry that burden, without relying to anyone or do it for anyone.

But now there are two other most important things in his life, that he would prioritize over everything in

This world, over everyone else first. And suddenly he doesn't feel very alone anymore.

The thought only brings calm and serenity.

He now has a family to take care of.

Ah, maybe this is what those people talk about, how it feels.

The feeling of finally settling down.

His indomitable spirit with strongest ego finally being tamed by something as domestic as having two babies he love over everything else.

For once and the first time in his life, he starts envisioning to grow old and live a long peaceful life, away from the monster inside him.

(And so after Yuji's recovery, out of being bitter that their relationship started backwards in process, Goyuu gives it their all to make up for their lost time together and tries to make babies day and night)

oh man! i really loved this episode. no aliens, no overarching plot, just some silly shenanigans and yeah, some murder, but in a far more lighthearted fashion than in other cases. filler episodes i love you soooo much <3

from the beginning, i thought the prompt sounded really good... shoutout to people who work in sideshows and other touring entertainment industries, y’all are real for that 

we open with some kids laughing under a full moon… nothing could be scarier… except SOMEONE WATCHING THEM!

and whoever it is, they are approaching the pool with feet out. where are their parents to safeguard them from stranger danger, i ask into my screen!

OH he is the dad!! what was once scary has now turned heartwarming. he splashes about in the pool with them and says they need to get ready for bed. aww. 

BUT NOW SOMEONE IS WATCHING HIM IN THE POOL!! NOOO the heartwarming session HAS BEEN CANCELLED... is he being EATEN???

(as he is killed, the camera shows a van with the words “alligator man” on it... at first i'm thinking that the alligator man was the creature who just Ate this guy, but turns out the father WAS alligator man, so named for his skin condition. rest in peace mister alligator, the world is a worse place for ur loss)

and now the agents are looking into his murder :(

(also, in the opening credits, we see that one of the guest stars is named “the enigma”... I’ll have to look into their work)

mulder says there have been a lot of murders in this fashion over the last 28 years, and they have been going all over the country!!! it seems to involve some sort of round bite mark. must be time to go investigate.

they roll up the the alligator man's funeral. honestly it is sad! and we see that the widow slash mother of the kids is a bearded lady and she is absolutely serving but this is a very sorrow-filled moment for them all

and interrupting the moment in which his community remembers the warmth he brought to their town, his casket starts moving… and someone emerges from the ground… and stabs himself in the chest with a spike???? HUH???

so the deceased was an escape artist but was forced into the sideshow circuit because of his skin condition… scully says she didn’t know sideshows were still a thing… which is honestly fair because it is a very vintage sort of entertainment. and they have a Not So Great history.

BUT if the people who live in this town in the summer are all traveling performers.. and if they have been touring for years... and the murders go on for years… hmm, it seems things are starting to add up

mulder notices a drawing of a creature on the menu of the restaurant they are sitting in, and he asks who drew it. why, the sheriff says, it's the artist named hepcat, of course! cut to him tending to his freaky mermaid. he describes his scary maze business as “a tabernacle of terror” 

mulder asks what the drawing on the menu was, and i was thinking, hmm, looks like the fiji mermaid, and hepcat says it is the fiji mermaid, and mulder doesn't seem to recognize it?? i assume this is one of those situations where he acts like he doesn't know what is going on to get more information because i feel like that is Exactly the sort of thing he has read about at length. like i had him pegged as a guy who could write a dissertation on the subject at the drop of a hat. so i think he's lying but narrative wise it isn't fully revealed. 

scully: “what’s the fiji mermaid?” hepcat: “it’s the fiji mermaid!” <- thanks this clears up a lot <3

mulder is acting surprised to hear that the top half of the fiji mermaid was a monkey, which i again assume to be an act? but he says that the tracks at the murder look monkey-ish. so perhaps there is a correlation...? between the very active murder case and that time PT barnum sewed a monkey and a fish together? hey, the dots aren't connecting for me, but i don't work for the fbi so what do i know

they go to get a place to stay and the guy operating the rental place, a kind and verbose fellow with dwarfism named mr. nutt, gives them their keys. and mulder asks if had worked in the circus, (and since everyone they have met so far has in fact done so, i feel that this was a fair question, but maybe i also deserved what follows), and mr. nutt really lays into him about making judgements, and maybe some people with dwarfism want to manage hotels...

and as all of this goes down scully just observes. wow. she let him flounder. lmao.

the man carrying their bags is named lanny, and he has a conjoined twin sort of situation, it's not entirely clear- but he says mr. nutt got him to work there because he believed it was undignified to work in the circus. hmm.

back to hepcat at his studio… listening to some groovy music... and something crawls in his window… looking like the fiji mermaid. and it BITES him.

next morning. mulder going for a jog. in a sweatshirt and sweatpants in florida heat. what in the hell was he thinking??? let’s analyze that while a man chomping a fish emerges from the river. we receive no real clarification on what is going on in either of their minds.

scully in bed. alerted to a murder by lanny. still in a robe. we get a shot of her chest and also lanny's brother that felt mutually uncomfortable. SMH no rest for her!

okay, examining the scene of the murder. mulder notices some blood on a little window and WHY DID HE TOUCH THE BLOOD NASTY!!!! NASTY!!!

they deduce that to fit in the window, the suspect would have to be a contortionist…. and they walk out to see a contortionist. it’s the spike guy that so disrespectfully ruined the funeral!!

he puts a nail up his nose in front them. and mulder pulls the nail out. probably to get some blood. not an easy watch still.

we learn here that the guy with the puzzle tattoos who was eating the fish in the river earlier is called “The Conundrum”, and the spike guy slash contortionist is dr. blockhead

dr. blockhead gives the conundrum a bunch of crickets and he gulps them up; then he offers crickets to the agents and scully TAKES one, says thanks, eats it, and leaves LMAOOO????? never let them guess your next move....

mulder is staring at her trying to figure out if he is in love with a woman that just ate a cricket and if this is something she does regularly and JUST KIDDING!!! she didn't eat it silly!!! she "reveals" the lil cricket behind mulder’s ear awww... her uncle was a magician <3

(he also does a lil slight of hand trick and pulls out the bloody nail, saying "everyone's uncle was an amateur magician", which i am sure they can bond over at a later date)

scully goes to a museum that says "freaks free, everyone else leave a donation" and she puts in some money… publicly declared non-freak 

this guy at the museum is touching her. don’t care for that. but I like that he knows lots of random information. and he won’t show his whole face, we as the audience only see him through mirrors. very cool framing device.

he says he will take her back and show her something of barnum’s for another $5 and sworn secrecy. good luck bucko; last time she was told to keep a secret (affair baby) the SECOND she was reunited with mulder the tea had been spilled LMAOOO. he hands her a paper featuring jim jim the dog faced boy, who, dare i say it, seems to be a king.

he leads her into the back rooms… scary. but her trench coat is serving though

okay, deep in the back is a trunk. and it’s empty and opens an exit door. NOOO she was scammed! it’s all part of the hustle. 

(well, that is what i THOUGHT, at least, until she realizes it leads to the sheriff's house, and things are adding up...)

mulder sees something crawling about. it’s the guy who owns the rental space, mr. nutt, under scully's trailer! he asks why he is under there and mr. nutt says he is NOT being creepy. mulder flirts with the man and he runs away LMAO... weaponized bisexuality 

agents are in the trailer having a nerd off and it’s not clear who is winning and there is romantic tension. sheriff hamilton used to be jim jim the dog faced boy???? what a reveal!!!

we are watching them watch the sheriff dig a hole during a full moon. average agent bonding activities. he buried something in the ground and goes inside. 

they are in his yard digging up what he was just digging and mulder has taken his earlier roasting to heart and says “we’re being highly discriminatory here” and clarifies that’s no reason to suspect him of being a werewolf and it’s like well. i don’t know that we both thought he was a werewolf. they pause to consider the moral weight of their actions then keep going.

uh oh! sheriff catches them!!! not a good look being caught digging something up. “We’re exhuming… your potato” is the best line that usually quick-tongued mulder could come up with, which had me losing my MIND and i proceeded to write a very long keysmash to express my amusement

“may I ask why?” (she starts monologing about serial killers taking positions in law enforcement and needing to monitor him as as suspect, and it’s convincing) (he cuts in: “we found out you used to be a dog-faced boy” STOP THIS IS SOOOO FUNNY) and she looks soooooo guilty!!

he doesn’t deny it and says he started balding on his head which put him out of a job. fair enough, gotta pay the bills.

next genius dialogue exchange: “that doesn’t explain the potato” “I got some warts on my hand” “...that doesn’t quite explain the potato” 

(i kept having to pause in rapid succession to write these lines down because i was laughing SO hard)

has anyone thought that maybe a man wants to bury a potato in his yard in peace…. like that’s how we get more potatoes…

“to get rid of warts you rub a sliced potato on your hand and bury it under a full moon” <- new life hack just dropped!!

nooooooo the conundrum is chasing the dog… dog escaped. everyone is pleased. he brings a check to mr. nutt and it’s rent!! king of paying his bills on time. but dog is still barking... NOOOOO MERMAID ATTACK ON MR. NUTT!!!

someone with bloody hands bursts into scully’s room and she must have her gun right by her pillow, and she gets it so fast, but it’s just lanny, saying he found mr. nutt dead... they truly hate to see a hard working entrepreneur in the field of hospitality winning 

the pin at the scene looked like something from dr. blockhead, so they go to his house to investigate and he is full of hooks. i made a noise like whAUUUWAUUHWAUH and mulder is looking intensely at what's going on there. blockhead goes on some cultural appropriation bs. um sir this is weird timing bur you are under arrest.

he gets out of the handcuffs- contortionist and escape artist! but the sheriff catches him by the hooks. what a KING! shoutout to this sheriff, formerly jim jim the dog faced boy, can we add him to the team? skinner are you hiring?  

just as our agents apprehend their suspect, we see that the mermaid creature is in the room with lanny!!! but... he isn't hurt?

OMG the twin inside him IS THE MERMAID??

lanny confesses to this when he asks how it would be possible to turn his "brother" in without turning himself in...and he thinks the mermaid fellow hates him and is looking for another brother which is so SAD but he says he’ll come back

is anyone concerned about the twin crawling out of lanny? well, mulder knows he isn't the man in charge here: “scully, you’re the medical expert… I believe you” yessir it's good to remember that!

the mermaid brother appears to have run off into the "tabernacle of terror" and mulder trying to hold a little evil mermaid at gunpoint is SO comical

their asses are lost in the maze!!! scully pulls a gun on a rubber skeleton that fell from the ceiling!

she's trapped in a mirror room to serve infinite looks in all directions, and it looks like mermaid baby is caught... she fires.. but it hits the mirror!! baby mermaid brother escaped!!!

at this moment, mulder slides through a trapdoor... and it was SO funny pls tell me there's a gif set of that somewhere because i need it...

baby on the loose... bad news!!! conundrum is being eaten by the baby twin…. but what if he eats him FIRST, i ask myself, and received an answer in the form of baby being gone and conundrum rubbing his stomach!!!! yassss!!! diva down!!!

the next morning, while everyone is searching for mermaid brother, we learn lanny died that evening of a condition related to alcoholism. we learn this while dr. blockhead and the conundrum are getting ready to leave.

and dr. blockhead's going on about the future, and how nature needs freaks, and in the 21st century everyone will look perfect… "just like him" (points to Mulder majestically posing by a trailer) LMAOOOOOO “imagine going through your whole life looking like that!!!” <- yeah it must be really hard....... /s

at last, conundrum and blockhead are taking off into the great unknown... scully points out he doesn't look too good…. CONUNDRUM TALKS???? “probably something I ate", he says. LMAOOO his voice is sooo normal 😭😭😭

this episode had me laughing. we really had it all: exhuming a potato, scully's valiant attempts at lying, mulder hitting on a guy, lessons in ableism and judgement, a man who eats crickets and fish, flirting over case details, a dog, scully doing magic, mulder running in the florida heat dressed like it was a new england winter. truly i have nothing that could be added.

and did i have a secret evil mermaid twin on my list of probably monsters of the week? no, i cannot say that i did! was it the most compelling or scary of creatures? not really! but i was filled with whimsy. cannibalism saved the day. an excellent episode, and a perfect contrast to earlier in the season when scully was literally About To Die and i was crying a lot over the whole thing. ah, the duality of TV shows!

Hey, just so you know, the person who plagiarized your work hasn't actually deleted their ao3 but changed it to sugucidal. While looking through my one fic I know they commented on it showed up like that. Figured you'd want to know so you can still block them.

oh wow. the saga continues apparently because every single one of the fics this account has ever posted were stolen from me. like.... I'm not sure what could compel a person to do this....

The Amazing Digital Circus Road Trip AU!!!! 🎪🛣️🎉

I finally have the courage to post something of genuine purpose here!!!

So this is the summary:

• The events prior to the road trip were… eventful, for lack of a better term. To make a long story short, a group of dimensional travelers opened the eyes of the Amazing Digital Circus, both for better and for worse. What started out so rocky ended up becoming a closer bond for them, as they learned more about the other dimensions, and maybe, just maybe, the enigmatic inner machinations of C&A and their perpetually dark history.

• About 6 months went by since then, with Bubble, and four of the interdimensional diplomats, Beth, Pam, Val, and Garcia, creating brand new maps for the game that the others could explore, while completing tasks, gaining artifacts, and meeting brand new people, all while keeping the details secret until it was ready. The other diplomats each had their own contributions to their own game maps, as did Bubble, but only one knew the ending of the road trip: the main diplomat Lulu.

• The road trip would be akin to the world level-based collect-a-thon video games, a la the Super Mario Odyssey, and the role-playing games a la the Steven Universe: Light series. Twenty-six designated levels were made, each with a different theme, animation style, culture, customs, interactable NPCs, characters in need of help, and antagonists/bosses that they can defeat.

• There is a door made out of mountain rock that needs to be unlocked, using all twenty-six (or twenty-eight, depending on your point of view on the matter) jewels, to unlock the “ending” of the road trip; no one else, not even Bubble, knows what's behind the rock door — no one, that is, except Lulu. She says that it's a surprise for afterwards. Each gem is hidden somewhere in their respective worlds, and the players need to obtain and collect all of the jewels in order to open that door by completing tasks, fulfilling objectives, and defeating antagonists. While the circus players pack their things into the Magical Digital Van (a combo of the Magic School Bus for the cutesy face that only communicates in beeps or radio music, and Vanzilla from The Loud House, in terms of retro appearance and spaciousness in cargo and passengers), Garcia gives Caine a silver-colored crystalline gem, causing a “YOU DID IT” pop-up to appear, startling him. Apparently, the pop-up appears when a jewel is obtained after completing the location’s objective. After the first jewel is placed in the middle of the rock door, The Amazing Digital Circus sets off for fun and adventure, thrills and peril, comedy and tragedy, action and excitement, an obscure all-star cast of side characters, heroes, villains, pop culture references, ties to nostalgia, relatability, and… possibly romance…...? Who knows? The inner machinations of my mind are an enigma.

• Each of the Digital Circus members have magical Velcro bracelet communicators that they can use to contact the diplomats for help on tasks, finding out further information, or to just talk to them the same way we'd talk to our loved ones on the phone for hours on end. The communicators also send the circus members notifications for an objective they must complete (do keep in mind they can come much later than usual when they least expect it), as well as random achievements, the same way you would when actually playing a video game. Once a jewel has been obtained by any means, the pop-up will congratulate the circus members for grabbing the jewel, as well as to notify how many left you need to obtain to unlock the rock door. Characters:

The original eight characters have been slightly altered to fit the AU, but still have most of their canon traits intact.

• Caine:

Caine is still the charismatic goofball we all know and love, but with a dash of nervousness, inability to understand human humor, especially Gen Z humor, and hints of newfound irritability. He's practically a fish out of water in most of these game locations, not really capable of self-defense outside of his signature cane, and being a lot more cautious and protective with his fellow members, especially his best friend and guide, Pomni. Caine sometimes acts as the dad friend of the group, not tolerating anyone's BS and trying to maintain order in situations he's absolutely not familiar with at all. When around Pomni, he feels kinda at ease, with their dynamic being akin to SpongeBob and Patrick when working together. Hell, Jax even refers to Caine and Pomni as The Dynamic Duo.

• Bubble:

Still the chaotic, anarchy-loving glutton we all know and love, but with a caring side to him. You see, for as long as Bubble could remember, he had been Caine's sole confidant, being there for him during his toughest battles, from witnessing yet another abstraction, to calming the ringleader down after a nasty panic attack. They're even roommates! (my god, they were roommates) Bubble would totally just go with the flow and not worry too much about having to adapt to an environment completely different than his own. In fact, his masochistic tendencies make the perils more thrilling for him! He'd also act as the mom friend of the bunch, acting as some sort of mediator for when things get too chaotic for his liking. He'll also lend a helping hand if so desired.

•Pomni:

She's still jittery and anxious, but thankfully not as bad as when she first arrived at The Amazing Digital Circus. After several months of dealing with this game's BS, she developed an indifference to her situation as a defense mechanism, and has become something of a voice of reason to the others. Jesters in real life are known for not just providing entertainment and comedic nitpicks to the royal court, but were also considered their royal advisors. Pomni would become Caine's advisor after some constructive criticisms towards him and his methods of keeping the others sane and healthy, and later on his best friend, acting as Bubble's stand in from time to time, providing witty banter and friendly roast sessions with the other circus members. Jax often calls Pomni and Caine “The Dynamic Duo” because of the fact that they share some things in common: both can turn into nervous wrecks during stressful situations, both are hilarious to be around, both want to keep the circus happy and healthy, and both care immensely for the well-being of everyone around them. Rumor has it they're also drinking buddies; but nothing has been confirmed…

• Ragatha:

Still our cheerful and good-natured ragdoll, with big sister/ant tendencies. Her hugs are as soft as they are warm and reassuring. She'd be the one to always look on the bright side, even when surrounded by unfamiliar surroundings, kinda like Ruby Gloom. She still has to keep an eye on Jax and make sure he doesn't get up to no good, but during moments where Ragatha and Jax must work together, there are things they can learn from one another. Ragatha would teach Jax the importance of being kind to others as well as taking time to listen and understand them, while Jax could teach Ragatha how to be more assertive and set proper boundaries, making her less of a passive pushover and more confident in taking care of herself first. Ragatha could also attract animals and have them help around with chores, a la Snow White.

• Jax:

Jax is less of a condescending asshole and more of a Jerk With A Heart Of Gold, becoming Pomni's big brother figure when necessary. Sometimes, he and Pomni would get into comedic hijinks of their own, as regular siblings naturally would, even pulling off harmless pranks. Jax is still snarky as always, but this time, being more genre savvy than the others, taking notes of his surroundings, and apparently has a lot of knowledge about agriculture, which proves useful for one particular road trip location. He'll also go out of his way to give someone a hug if he sense someone is in dire need of one, and will offer helpful advice during his more rare moments of kindness.

• Gangle:

Still the cute and bubbly but also emotional and prone to crying talking theater mask, but with hidden depths. Her love for anime and all things Japan is generally what keeps her going, as well as her love for drawing. Gangle doesn't really contribute much other than trying to be as helpful as possible, especially after finding out she can use her ribbons as a rope! Golly! She is, however, incredibly intelligent, with a knack for math, science, and history, as we come to find out in a road trip location, and can even speak and translate Japanese. When Gangle decides to grow a spine in protecting her friends from harm or bullying (even Jax, surprisingly), her voice has a tendency to change to a more mature and assertive business-like tone (remember that her VA, Marissa Lenti, was once the voice of a high school guidance counselor until… y'know.) to show you that you really shouldn't fuck with her. This causes Jax to rethink picking on Gangle ever again at one point.

• Zooble:

Honestly, not much can be said about Zooble, other than they're mostly apathetic, slightly rude, and snarky, being there cuz they can. They, along with Bubble, kinda just go with the flow, but now has the ability to become awestruck or starstruck by the other circus members’ newfound abilities, including Gangle's rope ribbons. Zooble also takes time to appreciate the little things in life, enjoying the much-needed change of pace the road trip brings. They're basically the emo goth kid in terms of personality, but with layers like an onion. Zooble also acts as the bodyguard of the circus members, somehow discovering her prowess in defensive combat, fueled by the innate desire to protect their loved ones at all costs.

• Kinger:

The oldest surviving member of the circus, Kinger still retains his ability to get startled easily from constantly dissociating, his love for insects and insect collecting, and his knack for building pillow forts. Due to being the oldest, he now acts as the group’s grandpa, with his “back in my day” kind of storytelling, and apparent knowledge of how the digital world works. He also offers some life advice on how to get through even the toughest days, him having lived through it long ago with Queenie’s abstraction, and is noticeably a lot more chipper and compassionate during the road trip. He also becomes braver and more empathetic in one particular road trip location, with him becoming less startled easily over time. He apparently is also a tech genius (in reference to MatPat and finnthepony’s theory on Kinger’s past life as The Amazing Digital Circus’s game dev), having knowledge on how to fix machines and software, as well as acting as the gang's mechanic for the Magical Digital Van.

• The Magical Digital Van:

Built by Bubble, Kinger, Val, and Beth, the Magical Digital Van is the main vehicle the circus members use for the road trip, traveling to different destinations and stops along the way. The Van has a cutesy face that pays homage to The Magic School Bus, with her own emotions and reactions, but can only communicate in van noises, horn beeps, and radio music. Yes, the Van is a girl; a lot of vehicles in real life (including ships) are referred to by female pronouns. Kinger especially loves the Van like he would his girlfriend, much to the chagrin of everyone else.

• Potential ships(?):

I might be the only one in a sea of Showtime, Bluetooth, and Kingleader, among others on this platform, but I actually do ship Caine x Bubble. When I first saw the pilot, I thought to myself, “yep. These two definitely have chemistry.” I see them as one of those old bickering couples that like to tease each other. They've basically been through thick and thin, gray skies and sunny days, tears of laughter, and everything in between. Also, I'm in love with the idea of Caine just being a tsundere; I find it pretty hilarious to me. And Pomni being the Shipper On Deck in the background. I have a particular fondness for the unusual.

Another ship mentioned here is Jax x Ragatha. Remember The Princess & The Frog where Naveen taught Tiana to relax a little, while Tiana taught Naveen to take life more seriously and work harder to achieve his goals? Well, it's essentially that, like rivals to lovers or something. I love when “opposites attract” is done properly, especially here!

Bluetooth (Moon x Caine) would have been canon in this AU at one point in the past, but now The Moon and Caine are exes (y'all can have exes in fiction btw!). In the past, Caine and Moon dated (and at one point did the deed, *wink wink*), but after the Moon became too clingy and possessive, with a yandere attitude, Caine broke up with her, and Pomni would have helped both the Moon and Caine move on from the breakup, realizing what they had was not healthy. This “adventure”/off-screen episode would be mentioned here and there during the road trip (I want to assume the road trip is like a Season 3 thing, but the show's success might contradict this; oh, well) while Bubble and Caine try to take things slowly.

Hints of Gangle x Zooble (aptly named Google by the masses) can be found, but only in subtext. Zooble makes an in-passing comment on how they find Gangle's assertive voice to be hot at one point.

This AU pays homage to… well… A LOT of things that I enjoy watching over the years. It takes a look back on the things I found nostalgic as a kid growing up in the late 2000s and early 2010’s, including things that might also be familiar to other older generations of Gen Z. My most recent fixations (such as Unikitty) can also be found there, including random YouTubers I used to watch all the time, horror movies I grew fond of, some cartoons I still watch, such as Steven Universe, The Loud House, Teen Titans Go of all shows, the DreamWorks and Disney movies I watched as a kid, the older Gen Z memes we're familiar with by now, other video games we used to play all the time, among many others. I also wanted to spice up the variety of the fandom with my own interpretations of the characters, as well as some neat ideas I wanted to share when I conceived them.

With that being said, I hope you enjoyed this summary of my brand new AU idea!
