The rules for 1e and also the SCI-FI SPACE OPERA SPIN OFF Starfinder are also on that website. The whole game is free to access. No subscription, no one-time-payment, no account making. Three of the best RPG systems ever made totally free. Officially endorsed by the Devs. New content released the same day the books drop.

The only thing that aren't free are the official adventure paths, but all the monsters, rules, and information to make your own game are right there, again, free of charge.

I’m always disappointed in how few people like Pathfinder compared to DnD. Pathfinder just has a really rich and intense lore and background info, things that I love SO much. And no one is around to share it with me sometimes. 😭

Slaying Adatok: The Paragon of Shatterpeak, is available now for free!

"Slaying Adatok: The Paragon of Shatterpeak" is an unofficial dragon-slaying Dungeons and Dragons 5e adventure for Level 20 players. Players will venture into 4 unique lairs where they will de-power The Barrier protecting the peak of Shatterpeak Mountain. Once they climb to the mountain's top, they will get to face off with Adatok the Paragon, the Amethyst Greatwyrm.

This adventure includes a two pdfs (one normal and one print-friendly), battlemaps and art for each of the 7 unique locations and custom tokens for every named monster and NPC. As a Dungeon Master you shouldn't have to do any extra legwork to find assets to play your adventure!

@koifrog @toomanyblorbos Confession time here: I had no idea Drizzt actually did that in one of the books, since my knowledge of R.A. Salvatore is limited to reading the very beginning of Homeland and that's it (I cannot for the life of me find a copy at my local library or bookstore, everyone is probably like me-- got into D&D via BG3 and is now catching up on Lore).

He does do this in the D&D idle game (Idle Champions of The Forgotten Realms), which was my main inspo. Well, that, and this tweet thread that lives rent-free in my head:

Kasander seldom sleeps willingly. Their trance is already haunted by half-alien memories of blood and darkness, disorganized images they struggle to stitch together and match to their origins. It's upsetting even without any supernatural incursion causing more extreme visions, and it makes them fear resting. Sleeping, on the rare experiment trying to avoid the memories, is much worse. They always dream, and they always dream Bhaal's dreams. And it takes such a terribly long time to wake. So they avoid sleeping, and they're thankful not to have a reason to.

However, sleep is the most convenient way for the Emperor to contact them, and the Emperor has a way of pulling them under whenever he pleases. When they first met and the Emperor was still in the form of the Dream Visitor the Emperor offered to soothe their nights from the restless, terrible trance by quieting their dreams- if only they would sleep, of course. Disoriented, still largely amnesiac, and distressed by the visions, Kasander agreed eagerly (there was a lot of agreeing with the Emperor then) and committed themself to the psionic protection out of desperation for any relief from the growing fear there was something wrong with them. It did seem to work- mostly- but when Kas began to break with the Emperor they stopped sleeping nightly as well. By that point they were ready to grapple with the horrors of trance again, as painful and difficult as they were.

So I only just found this out.

Wizards of the Coast sent a copy of the new 2024 Player's Handbook to Michael Shea (Author of the Lazy Dungeon Master and the Forge of Foes - two amazing books you should check out)

After the video had been up for a while, he was asked to blur almost all footage of the book by Wizards of the Coast due to concerns over piracy.

Michael doesn't even show the whole book in the video.

It just goes to show you how arrogant and out of touch wizards of the coast is. They don't even want you to see their products. They know people will buy the product independent of the content inside of it.

If you play 5th Edition, please switch to an equivalent game by a different company like Level Up Advanced 5E or Tales of the Valiant.

Bucket of water: it's the classic way of waking fainted people up because it's just so damn cold. However since he is made of plasma this will make it feel even colder. He might even think, due to water's effect on fire, that your party is trying to kill him.

Bucket of fire: it's still gonna be colder than plasma, but hopefully the temperature difference will still startle him awake. Hopefully he doesn't take it as an insult that you're throwing weaker fire at him.

do you have any fantasy game series you'd recommend?

i've said before and i don't shut up about it on my main but i cannot recommend pillars of eternity enough <3 its just soooo good and the second game is easily one of my favourites of all time. if you're interested in the ideas of religion explored in the da series wrt gods, and interesting types of magic and societies, i think you'll enjoy this series (there's also some great companions that i really really love).

also i'm sure you've heard of baldur's gate but what's been released so far is really enjoyable so i'd recommend that either as early access or when its released in august!

Are you still into Critical Role?

HELL YES I AM. Idk who you are nonny, but the answer is yes. I should say though that I haven't seen any of C3, and I'm only most of the way done with C1, and haven't watched any in month. But I'll gladly chat about campaign 2 for hours. That campaign was a very strong hyperfixation, and I finished the whole thing in ~6 months. I'm also down to talk about what I've seen of Campaign 1.

Idk why you're asking me this, but please feel free to come back on or off anon to talk about whatever you want. Or anything dnd related in general. It is my special interest.

Actually, I'm going to see the live show in Chicago (audience votes on what characters they'll play) in April with one of my friends for their birthday. I'm sad it's not NYC's Fjorester wedding oneshot, but it should still be fun. If the audience is in-sync enough we can make it a Mighty Nein oneshot anyways, though I doubt that will happen.

I feel half the reason I never found Astarion appealing is because Daeran from Pathfinder already did his general vibe of being a morally dubious, traumatized, fruity rich guy way better.

Also Daeran is just objectively funnier
