The lack of knowledge displayed by most doctors (especially surgeons) that I’ve seen in the last few months, regarding eating disorders both psychologically and physiologically, only reinforces the doubt and skepticism I have about their ability to treat any patient as a real person, never mind a fat patient. I understand that after 30 years or more of experience they see a lot of trends and correlation that become useful shorthand, such as “outcomes for [specific type of surgery] are better if a patient’s BMI is in [this specific range],” but that shorthand becomes their norm. Do they seek to be better skilled with fat bodies, or understand that in the course of an eating disorder and dramatically yo-yo-ing body mass that a body may settle at a weight that serves it best for survival? Asking a patient to take on the equivalent of a full-time job to lose 100lb—AGAIN, for the third time in that patient’s lifetime—in order to get below a certain body mass index threshold… well, it doesn’t take any of that into account and in my most generous reading it is tone-insensitive (in my least it’s fucking stupid). They don’t seem to understand that at some point the body will throw up a white flag and say “no thanks, we have continuing to live to do,” and that doesn’t even consider the psychological ramifications.

All that and when the surgeon I saw today heard I had already lost [x]lb in preparation for surgery (after my consultation with the other surgeon) I was treated to a “you go, girl!”, and though he seemed nice enough, I really just wanted to throw hands for that. I don’t need your condescension or your congratulations, I need you to listen to me, the patient who lives in this body and has lived in this body and understands what psychological bullshit she is flirting with in order to meet these requirements to have her insides repaired. GOD.

I am in a much stronger place than I was in the midst of my eating disorder. I know exactly what I’m doing in this undertaking. But when someone climbs a mountain they still wear good shoes and harnesses and use ropes because it doesn’t matter how good they are at climbing and how fit they are, they won’t easily withstand the fall from a steep elevation. Doing this doesn’t mean my eating disorder will necessarily be back (and in larger numbers), because I don’t believe disorders work that way (to borrow a bullshit turn of phrase from an equally bullshit approach to substance-related behavioral issues, my eating disorder is not “doing pushups in the parking lot,” getting stronger the further along I am in my experience of healing). But it’s not great to be subjected to this, or to be seen as just another stubborn fatty who doesn’t want to do “what’s good for her.” I’m a stubborn fatty, yes, but not for the reasons they think.

I doubt there are any surgeons just floating around tumblr right now reading the thoughts of folks who are otherwise just random shitposters but if you ARE a surgeon, can you please tell your surgeon friends that fat people are not stupid? That we deserve good care regardless? That you should all probably assess yourselves for attitudes pertaining to intelligence and morality when it comes to your chub-ass patients? THANKS.

Well. I finally found enough courage (or will to do or motivation or see you) to invent a football team with the Marchals of the First French Empire. A few weeks ago I found this of facebook. 

And suddenly I started thinking about a team with those men… also because I’m watching the European Championship (and my Italy is in semifinal yeeeh). Today I did this team. The Marshals are them in 1814 unless they died before, in that case he’ll be at the age/situation of the year of his death (es. Lannes). The four onorary Marshals are managers and PR. Marshal Berthier is the CT (coach), because he’s obviously the one who knows better how to motivate his colleagues, how much he can ask them and has the best overll view.

Today, I made an improvised timeline of all the most popular Tumblr blogs I could think of. There were only five blogs I researched (my blog is included at the bottom for comparison). If you think I missed a number of people, know that these were the only ones I could think of right now.

I hastily put this together in MS Paint. It’s lacking a lot of details, and that’s because I’ll be explaining them below.

On the bottom is a scale for time. It begins at 2012, or ‘12, and ends at September 2020, or ‘20. Gray blocks mark off where each year ends, as well as the space in between different blogs, shown by colored bars. Each bar starts with the first time the blog in question started posting, and ends with when they posted last.

I’m assuming that the first time these blogs started posting will also have been the same time they were created (as it was the case with my blog), so this timeline on the dates of posts will be used to gauge the lifespans of all the blogs they represent.

Again, the blog shown at the bottom of the timeline is myself. However, the other five blogs, marked with a color I felt best matched their actual blogs, are, in order, biggest-gaudiest-patronuses, gayarsonist, hungwy, i-am-a-fish, and pukicho. Links to each of their blogs are where I mentioned them earlier.

Now, let’s go over what it means for each of them to be on this timeline. Below, each blog is linked to along with their respective oldest posts.

1) The first bar, colored pink, is biggest-gaudiest-patronuses. Their blog extends from March 2016 to the present day. Interestingly, although Gaud posts about any and all things terrifying today, they started off mostly posting about wizards.

2) The second bar, colored blood red, is gayarsonist. Formerly known as generalgrievousdatingsim, their blog extends from July 2016 to the present day. This judgement may be wrong, as I could only look far back into their current blog, and their previous blog, generalgrievousdatingsim, may have had older posts that I can no longer access since nearly all posts have been deleted on that blog.

Anyways, while gayarsonist is presently known as a dark shitpost blog and one of the oldest users on the website, their oldest posts on their current blog reflect they’ve always been into demonic shitposting.

3) The third blog, colored sky blue, is hungwy. His blog extends from April 2013 to the present day. Hungwy is known today as a general variety blog, but the most interesting thing about his oldest posts is that some of them included original Homestuck art, a fandom he’s largely distanced himself from today.

4) The fourth blog, colored gold, is the defunct blog i-am-a-fish. Their blog starts at December 2016, but does not extend to the present day.

Having based their entire blog on love and self-care, many of i-am-a-fish’s posts were sometimes called “cringe”, and they were shunned away from the website in November of 2019, never to return. (I wish they’d come back, please ☹️) Then they disappeared from Twitter in July of 2020, and I can’t find where they are now.

Interestingly enough, they prepared their oldest post to be seen in the modern day. (The notes congratulate you on “binging the whole blog”.) Their earliest posts used to follow the idea of being a fish much closer, constantly gurgling or talking about gurgling. (Much more of a reason for them to come back.)

5) The fifth blog, colored yellow, is pukicho. His blog extends from September 2012 to the present day. Being a general variety blog now, his blog back then was also a general variety blog, posting images from other blogs that I’d now call “cursed images”, although they didn’t have a name back in 2012.

6) And finally, the sixth and final blog on the timeline, is me. I’m not a popular blog, and chances are, if you came from somewhere else, you don’t even know who I am. Well I’m peysi, and I’ve made this blog my home from August 2019 until the present day.

I consider myself a newcomer compared to the sheer amount of history that Tumblr has existed in before me, and yet I’ve been here long enough to witness moments such as the departure of i-am-a-fish from the website, and the turning of the decade.
