SortaSports' Super Bowl LIX Prediction

On one end, the dynasty of the decade in its second straight rematch one win away from the first threepeat of the Super Bowl era (and just the second in title game history and third in NFL history). On the other end, a franchise with a relatively recent history of getting revenge on past dynasties that denied them a ring (complete with both dynasties having come from behind against Kyle Shanahan to make a repeat possible). On one end, one of the most clutch quarterbacks and defenses in recent memory saddled with enough sluggishness that they can never win too convincingly, and on the other end, a loaded offense, an explosive back redefining his legacy, and a top-flight defense under the watch perhaps the biggest buffoons to ever coach multiple Super Bowl teams. Will K.C. rewrite history, or will the Eagles play spoiler yet again? For the 280th and final time this season, it's time to make my pick. (200/279 so far)

KC-PHI (Super Bowl LIX @ New Orleans): Call it a vain attempt at a jinx all you want, but I mean it when I say that I give up. The Chiefs may not be the overall superior team, but they don't play these games on paper or even in simulations. They just keep finding ways. It may be in part because of luck and increasingly sketchy refball and what not, but most of all, it's because they've got Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and Steve Spagnola, all well and truly among the greatest the game has ever seen in each of their respective positions. I'm sure it will be close and maybe even look really good for the Eagles at certain points. Frankly, now feels like the perfect time for the Chiefs' luck to run out. But the football gods don't care enough about us to make every one of these like 2007 all over again. It's close, but I'd pick the Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl LIX - their 6th league championship dating back to the pre-merger days, their 5th Lombardi win (or general title since leaving Dallas), their 4th in the last 6 years with Mahomes and Reid, and the first threepeat in Super Bowl history. Yeah, I'm preparing for a very salt-inducing finish too. (Just for the love of what little good's left in the world, please don't end with refball as bad as their last Super Bowl meeting.)
