today is the first day in a very very long time that i woke up on one of my scheduled days off and didn't feel the Work Panic set in and it's... very surreal. things are quiet. i feel like i could actually read the books i bought months ago or work on the personal projects that got sidelined last year.

not going to elaborate more beyond "working a bit too much overtime and now a year's gone by somehow" but wow,,, maybe i will do an activity for me today ?? the possibilities ...

anyhow. it is pretty inconsiderate but it's also not like. the height of psychological warfare, is it. just someone used to being the centre of attention surrounded by people who are used to him being the centre of attention - reflected in the eagerness of factory ducati to welcome him. one who doesn't give a shit about most people, including bastianini. barely even counts as crushing your rival because bastianini is basically competitively irrelevant from now on, like the question of whether this would bother that guy probably doesn't even register. you could say it's aimed at pecco, but that bloke's had two weeks to make his peace with losing the title and probably welcomes the chance to focus on what comes next

obviously the act of inserting yourself into this new team and this aggressive borderline performative cheerfulness marc's been shooting for this year does have an ulterior motive. and yeah, marc does play with that! he's gotten very boisterous, very much about asserting himself, emphasising again and again and again how much fun he's having. inevitably draws the attention to himself. it's a kind of weaponised joy, one without compromise or care for those left in the shadows. you perform your way to winning, right. and, well, I suppose he learnt that from the best. a bit cruel and a bit careless is a decent enough characterisation... this idea that marc keeps his fights on-track is silly but would also make him more boring than he is if it were true. he's there to win, and sometimes you're going to be a bit tacky and a bit crass along the way. the joys of competition

Making a FROEND

Started making Tri on Sunday bc I needed to slow down playing the new Zelda since I’m like… pretty far into it and I’m worried I’m going to finish it too soon 😭

Body is a simple sphere, had to freehand the legs and little ghost swoopy thing

Legs were a little tricky bc I had to make the last round taller on the curved side, so I did the ol’ slip, single, half double, double crochet wave kinda thing

Originally I wanted to do the face out of felt but then I found out the compass I bought is flimsy as hell >:( so no perfect circles for paper template for me…. Honestly idk how I would’ve managed the wooby eye shape out of felt anyway. But I’m pretty proud of the freehanding I did to crochet it instead even though I was crocheting waaaaaay too tightly for it to be easy (protip. Don’t use yarns of two different weights 👍)

Tonight I made the triangles and lucked out that my first idea to try out is working pretty well!

It’s kinda like three separate lollipops? Using two floral wire scraps and securing it by wrapping it and tacking it down with the tail yarns from the triangles. The first one is just kinda jammed into the swoopy (which was made separately and lightly stuffed before sewing on) through to the body

Definitely going to wrap yarn around the visible bits of wire, and also to finish the sort of ravioli pocket on the back to completely hide the wire. Then of course some hot glue to really secure things and keep the triangles flat and even. I want to rotate the last two pieces around the wire axis a little, the way the tail pieces move about in the game :3

i know it's been a hot topic of discussion but legit highlight of my day was getting a platform to gush about alan wake for a whole like five minutes while my fandom bestie at work was like "hey what's that video game you like? alan wake? heard it might be getting an adaptation" and i got to tell her how they better involve both halves of alan wake in its production

THE MOON IS SO BIG TONIGHT

I knew it was the solstice so spent a while looking at her while walking Stitch, my mum also pointed it out to me. The moon is so beautiful I love her.

The full moon of June's happening on the same day (ish) as the solstice which is rare- she's gonna be really pretty tonight and tomorrow too! Go look at the moon everybody, all this weekend she's gonna look fairly full. If it's cloudy I will flip some tables. but luckily I'm not in a big city with as much light pollution now so I'll probably be able to see her well :)
