I am the world's last Jeyna shipper. I am one of those soldiers who never heard WWII was over and was hiding in the jungle. I understand that canon has moved on but I refuse to surrender. I don't even need the ship itself to be canon, could be totally platonic I don't care but as a matter of principle it has to be maintained.

Jason just flat out ditching Romans never sat right with me. All those backstory hints in TLH ignored. His history comepletely irrelevant. Not once do we see him interact with any old friends who are not otherwise involved. Oh I'm sorry he had never really felt at home at Camp Jupiter than why was he part of the swap. Ooh la la Pontifex Maximus I don't care he should have been the Roman's Roman. They got left with Frank and Hazel who will be great don't get me wrong but they aren't very expirienced as the quest starts. Jason is the only Old Hand who could have countered Percebeth on the Argo 2.

Look as I said above I don't actually need Reyna to wind up with Jason. But...like...something on their backstory. I mean they toppled the Throne of Saturn. Why was she of all people raised alongside him after they were victorious? But nope Romans get screwed over. I also don't like her joining the Hunt. I just don't like the implications of a woman who doesn't want to get involved with romance having to withdraw from the world entirely. Why can't she just be praetor and not have romance.

In conclusion I am the world's last Jason x Reyna shipper who also doesn't actually ship them in particular.

I’ve been seeing this thing around about rating pjo ships so i thought I’d give it a go 🤠 no personal offense if i don’t give your ship a high rating, i’m pretty particular except for when I’m not

Percabeth - 9/10. love them loads, but could have gone without the judo flip + other odd behaviors that are only seen as “cute” because the sexes are flipped, otherwise they’re great

Jercy - 1/10. i can see potential i guess but also there’s just a lot of better options for both of these characters imo, plus i see them as bros

Valgrace - 10/10, to storm or fire the world must fall, best friends to lovers, no notes

Solangelo - 2/10. i can see…the potential. their “significant annoyance” scene gave me the warm fuzzies as a 14 year old looking for rep. but oh my god how they’re written in canon sometimes is just so bad, it ruins fanon for me as well. not to mention the one-dimensional-ization done in order to amplify the “grumpy x sunshine !!!1!” trope. however i will say Some solangelo fans understand that they should Both be freaks (and in that AU it’s a respectable 8/10 from me) and the ship has fantastic fan artists

Shelper - 2/10. no hate i’m just bored…like who is shel?? tell me one thing about her personality. does she get any dialogue?? richard??

Jasper/Jiper - 1/10 the fake memories were cute but the inside of pipers head did not pass the Bechdel test. would love to see them as platonic soulmate roommates though

Pernico - 4/10 i see them as annoying cousins but i respect the angst potential of unrequited love. i don’t think the ship as endgame would be good for either of the characters. however, again, really good fan artists

I absolutely hate these kinds of posts so I thought I'd do it to see first hand how many people actually like it and care about other people's opinions on their ships so...

my arbitrary ratings of non canon pjoverse relationships and why I think they would never work (or would) (scroll down for canon)

perachel: 3/10 nothing but platonic vibes, their brief stint felt more like an experiment than genuine romantic feelings or attraction; they both deserved better

percico: 1/10 a reiteration of an earlier post: their relationship would get bogged down by unshared feelings and grief, plus nico's crush was just a crush, and percy never had feelings in the first place

perlypso: 0/10 their whole interaction was percy being half dead and calypso being manipulated, not to mention she cursed him

pereyna: 2/10 any het relationship with reyna feels icky to me, she just seems so queer coded (which makes sense cause she literally joined an ace club), and percy was so focused on annabeth when they first met it just doesn't seem fair to either of them

pipercy: 4/10 this is a FRIENDSHIP I wanna see them figuring out they're bi together so much platonic potential

jercy: 7/10 honestly if I had to put these two with anyone else, I would choose this ship solely for the tension in mark of athena and that an alternate ship name is person

pipeyna: 7/10 would be good, but I need more info, though I think it would bring piper's jealousies to a nice full circle, especially if it was used in a way that helps piper figure out her sexuality

jiper: 5/10 that's right y'all, this isn't canon anymore! cute while it lasted, but they were completely made up and forced together by hera. that does not make a good, trusting relationship where one party is missing crucial details and the other remembers things that didn't happen, honestly i would have much rather they just ended it in lost hero when they realized hera was manipulating them

thaluke: 3/10 so much complicated history, I see them as ross and rachel from friends only worse

valgrace: 6/10 platonic mostly, but I can see it turning into something; I think they could definitely be good for each other; would love to see some healing centered stuff for them

valdangelo: 0/10 they barely interact, and their personalities are not the cute "opposites attract" it is straight up "we are both intensely traumatized, but in different, incredibly clashing ways"

haleo: 4/10 I can see it, but with sammy, it's just too complicated

frazeleo: 10/10 this might be the only non canon ship I really wish was canon. separate, they are boring and clash with each other so much, but I think having the three of them together would provide a buffer when necessary while also keeping things fun and interesting

zeus/hera: -10/10 sucks ass, their relationship is built on mistrust and a forced marriage, hera is quite literally shackled while zeus does whatever the hell he feels like while hera takes her anger out on anyone but him

god's/any of their affairs: 0/10 there's a reason none of them lasted

piper/shel: 4/10 another reiteration: ig it could be something, but it was literally a few paragraphs, and we know piper is experimenting with her sexuality, so it could be anything, not just a permanent romantic ship

caleo: 4/10 calypso needs some time to figure herself out and not be chained to a person or place; maybe they can try again after they both have some more life experience

frazel: 6/10 cute, but they're still pretty young, even by pjo standards, and compared to the other canon ships they're kinda dull imo, but i do love the awkwardness

beckengard: 9/10 absolutely love it, wartime romance, tension, dying for each other, trying for elysium for each other, only minus a point because one of them was a spy

sally/paul: 9/10 i love it, i'm so glad sally finally found a decent man, only minus a point because...adults

gruniper: 9/10 very cute, would be 10/10 but the start of their relationship felt kinda wonky to me like rick just wanted to pair grover with someone

solangelo: 10/10 adorable, checks all my boxes - opposites attract, healing from trauma, one extrovert one introvert, there is absolutely no downside

percabeth: 11/10 the OGs, the ship i use as a standard for all of my other ships no matter the fandom, still my absolute favorite ship, there was not a single bad track, they are so good for each other

I’ve tried to make a post talking about Jason Leo Piper Reyna quartet dynamics like four times now but my brain is convinced it needs to be a sixteen page essay (which is ridiculous) so instead I’ll probably break it up into posts about duo dynamics sometime in the future.

The briefest summary I could manage is this (please keep in mind that this post was written w romantic valgrace and pipeyna as part of the dynamic but that I also care greatly about the platonic relationships between the others, and that platonic love in general is not inherently any less valuable than romantic love, it’s just different):

Their stories are all (at least partially) about not being people’s first choice. Jason’s mom sacrificed him to save herself and Leo never feels welcome in any of the foster homes and Piper’s dad chooses his career over her time and time again. The legacy Reyna represented weighed heavier on her father than who she was as a person, and then she followed her sister on every path she took, only for Hylla to choose the Amazons over her in the end.

And then Reyna chose Jason—as a friend and a co-praetor and as the first person she truly trusted who wasn’t her sister. And Jason chose her back.

Leo and Piper chose each other to be the first person they opened up to in years.

And then they both chose Jason, too. Kept choosing him, even when they realized their memories of him weren’t real.

Piper looked at Reyna and decided she was family. Reyna looked at Piper and found someone she could lean on.

Leo and Reyna are a bit more messy, because he fired on her home and he changed her best friend and she didn’t know how to deal with that at first. But then he comes to Camp Jupiter’s aid when it matters, and Reyna looks at him and knows why Jason chose him and decides that he’s family, too.

There’s a fundamental understanding between all of them. They’re abandoned kids who look at each other and find home. Who choose each other, time and time again, forever, because they’re each other’s people and have found everything they’ve spent their whole lives searching for in each other’s arms.

They choose each other even when it’s hard and even when it hurts, because “loving you won’t always be easy, in the same way loving me won’t always be easy, but you’re worth it. You’ve always been worth it.”

They were all raised roses, taught to protect themselves with thorns, but they’re gentle with and mindful of each other’s sharp edges and there’s beauty in that, too.

OOOO i am not a Reyna Girlie but i do think she's super awesome. she's one of those characters who in my head is just like stick figure violence and tv static but who i love very much. like hazel or magnus chase yk. i have so much affection for her but i cannot channel it into anything tragically.

i think she's really cool as a character what with her past with circe and the pirates and her father and such and then joining the legion and rising to praetor (which btw i wanna see more of so fucking bad when do i get roman prequels split between jason and reyna that delve into their pasts and experiences in the legion and the paths they took becoming praetors and their relationship and the shit reyna dealt with while jason was missing for eight months and also an answer to why he spent two months just straight up missing not even with chb or his homies just fucking gone. what was that. where was he. what the hell was reyna doing while he was gone how much fucking work did she have to do how exhausted was she during that time how much did she struggle to get the senate to agree to sending someone to search for him before giving up (if she did give up). when do i get to learn more about them)

she's also one of those characters where i have many headcanons that i switch between at the drop of a hat. like yeah she's ace ik that but is she aroace or alloace and if she's alloace what flavour of allo is she hetero (not my most common one) is she a lesbian is she bi is she unlabelled. transfem or transmasc or nonbinary or cis. she/her or she/they or she/it or it/any neos. loves animals or cannot rock with any creature that is not a dog or horse. insane about reading and art or exhausted of looking at words and pictures. autism creature or family guy death pose type beat. is she a psych type or a math and chem girlie. latin music or metal or only the weirdest shit that nico shows her that she actually likes the sound of (example uhhh bernie sanders speech lofi remixes). is she exploding leo with her mind or is she like besties with him while also exploding him. is she on the verge of tears every two seconds or is she actually okay sometimes. does she get therapy or is she still afraid of it.

i also have a few ships with her (platonic and romantic) that i'm not really terribly passionate about which is a shame because i love her to death. but like ouguguhg reynabeth could be so fucking unhealthy and fucked up if i wanted it to be i swear and pipeyna could be so AWOOOOOGA AWOOOOOOOOOOGA vibes considering their silly asses and jeyna is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo girlboss and her malewife and theyna is so home depot x lowes i know it to be true but i can't get invested in any of them and it's such a fucking tragedy yk.

Okay I just finished a TLC reread so I gotta expand on that Valzhang Cinder AU

I forgot. About the fire. I forgot about the fire. Are you kidding me I forgot about the fire. The parallels of Cinder and Leo being set on/ put in fire as babies (3 years old is still a baby for all intents and purposes) by their aunts or ‘aunts’?

Also, it was played really straight in Cinder and it would with this AU too but the fact that this set up has Frank trade Leo’s life as a bargaining chip with the Evil Moon Queen could be so funny. Like as a joke leaning into that enemies side of their relationship development from canon. All the meme lines about wanting someone dead apply, I don’t even know any right now I’m not hip with it or whatever the kids are saying.

Also I mentioned in the notes of that post that Piper and Annabeth would probably be in the role of the Lunar princess and her guard and that means childhood friendship for Leo, Piper and Annabeth which is so sweet. Also, Piper fits that role what with her father being manipulated left and right and Going Through It, being the most beautiful girl, having the power to influence but seeing the dangers of it and hating it all the same but using it to save her loved ones. She’d have a more subtle, softer way of being a hero and that goes with the way Aphrodite’s strengths can be different from the more traditional idea of heroism.

Also Annabeth as the morally duplicitous, two faced guard would be so interesting. Especially since Jacin (lol I just realized Jacin v. Jason) was chosen as a guard because of his weak mind. I don’t know if that would mean that Annabeth’s mind is strong in ways that aren’t recognized or valued by Lunars or if she faked it to protect Piper. I don’t think that would be possible though. But ‘weak minded’ in this universe doesn’t mean unintelligent or not willful or anything so that would be an interesting thing to explore with Annabeth and her hubris.

I said Hazel would be good in the role of Cress and it’s. It’s really funny what with the whole technological genius/ prodigy hacker by age eight thing and Hazel not growing up with any technology. But her feeling of guilt and culpability for what her ‘mother figure’ coerced her into doing does fit really well in this role. And the fact that in this set up, Leo will be the one to take out/cause the death of that mother figure like he did in canon. Anyway, Hazel’s motivation being in part to make amends for helping the villain. Being held apart from the world. Morally ambiguous distant father who ‘cursed’ her at birth (gave her up for infanticide). Cress got to knock her dad out cold and leave him on the dusty ass floor so you know what that means ayyyyyyy!

Also Drew as Thorne. Not much deeper reasoning than I think she’d make a great charming rogue. Also has hidden depths that are often ignored. Also Leo and Drew best friendship. Also Frank taking one look at her mugshot when she and Leo break out of prison together and seeing how hot she is and instantly hating her. Jealous Frank 💯💯💯 Also also she would start a prison riot because the soap isn’t up to her standards I LOVE HER

This is getting long so I’ll have to make another post to talk about Jeyna (platonic or romantic, either works) Scarlett and Wolf and other dynamics, there so much more to sayyyyyy

this is if jason remembered reyna at camp half-blood, and it can be romantic or platonic! (it's written as romantic because it's me but it's still platonic, too.)

“Who’s the one we need to look out for?” Annabeth leans on the ping pong table, hands splayed wide. Her standing figure is probably meant to intimidate him, whether she’s doing it consciously or not. Her eyes cut into him, stormy with unspoken emotions. 

“Look out for?”

She raises a brow. “Yes, Jason. You’re a leader of army brats, essentially. You say everyone trains for years?”

He nods and leans back onto the chair. He feels the eyes of the other counselors on them. “Yeah. We do.”

Annabeth’s face tightens. It’s subtle but he’s been taught to look for those cues. “Fine. Who’s the other leader?”

He smiles instantly. “Reyna. Daughter of Bellona, goddess of war. She’s one of the toughest demigods Camp Jupiter and New Rome as a whole has ever had.”

“Reyna?” Katie asks. 

Clarisse slaps her hand on the table as she stands and everyone but him flinches. “Stop playing games, Roman,” she snarls. “Tell us what we need to know, or-“

“Or what?” Jason questions, tilting his chin up to look at her. “You’ll kill me? And face the wrath of New Rome? That’s not very smart.”

She growls and Annabeth rolls her eyes. “Enough. Sit down, Clarisse.”

Clarisse glowers at him for a minute longer before slowly returning to her seat, arms crossing.

“What can you tell us about her?” Will says.

“She doesn’t care about anything but camp. She has dogs that can sniff out lies. She’s a stickler for rules.”

“Sound like Annabeth much?” Travis laughs.

Annabeth wisely ignores him.

“She has longish black hair that she usually braids, always has a bag of jellybeans on her. She has a resting bitch face but she's just thinking of what she wants for dinner. She hates Senate meetings so she always starts a game of tic tac toe or something.”

“Sounds like you know a lot about her.”

Piper says it like a fact instead of a question. Jason looks at her and she meets his eye dead-on. Her eyes go from green to brown and he can see her desperation.

“I’d hope so. She’s my best friend.” Leo twitches from Piper’s other side. Jason glances at him too before saying, “one of them.”

Leo has a satisfied smile and Jason wants to ruffle his hair.

“Anything else?” Annabeth asks boredly. She sits in her chair and kicks her legs up. Will flicks them and with a roll of her eyes, she puts them back down.

“She loves me.”

Piper sucks in a breath but Jason doesn’t look at her. 

“She’s tearing through the country looking for me,” he continues. “And she won’t stop until I return.”

“Are we supposed to be afraid?” Pollux murmurs from behind Jason.

“I don’t know,” he answers honestly. “I don’t know what squads she’s sent out, if she sent eagles or if Reyna herself is looking for me.”

“What does it mean if she is?”

Jason looks at every one of them before answering. “It means you better say the right thing if she comes. She doesn’t ask more than once.”

“Yeah, well, neither do I,” Annabeth counters.

“Then you should know what to say to her if she finds Camp.”

Annabeth stares at him hard. Her eyes are a cold cut of steel and he waits for something more.

“Meeting adjourned,” she announces. “Go back to your activities and cabins, I’ll see everyone later.”

Chairs squeak as everyone stands up, including him. Their eyes watch him as he’s the first to leave the room.

The sun embraces him when he steps outside and he raises a hand to shield his eyes from it. He catches sight of something flying away in the distance.

An eagle.
