the fun part about not knowing everything about rhaegar/elia/lyanna is how you can interpret everything.

i personally interpret that lyanna didn’t fall in love with rhaegar; she fell in love with his words. how he promised he would let her train and ride and dress how she wanted to. of course, it doesn’t hurt that the prince is very handsome.

but i think rhaegar knew what he was doing. i mean, he knew elia wouldn’t survive a third pregnancy, yet he still cared enough to save her life. he could have just used her for his “third head” (not to say he never did!) but he didn’t. i think he knew what lyanna wanted to hear and used her naivety against her.

The problem is besides the obvious truth that the anonymous ask is fake, Rhaegar wouldn't touch you if he sees how much of a liar and how you talk about his wife and children.

Nothing forces you to hate on a sweet, sick, and harmless woman just because you proclaim her stans are being mean. Lyanna's fans are always mean and ugly toward Elia and not once a stan of Elia came out and said I shall be bitch about Lyanna as a result. That's of course, without forgetting that this anon ask is fake AGAIN. You just want a reason to hate on the woman who got to kiss Rhaegar before you did in your head.

I'm not into either, but this is so childish and obvious. You think you can go ahead and lash out the malice you have been keeping in for too long now that you have made your own "justified reason" to hate on your fake sister-wife.

I'm aware there are people rude toward Lyanna but you retarded children are much worse toward Elia.

I could understand why people would dislike Lyanna (I don't agree with those who insult her) because she could have done mean things even if unintentionally and I could understand that people wouldn't find Elia interesting enough to care for but to the point of being nasty to her? Elia really hasn't done anything but being the sweet good wife of Rhaegar Targaryen.

Do not think anyone is that stupid to not realize you do not hate her because you feel protective over Lyanna. We all are aware it's because you feel she is standing between you and your fake lover.

So stop digging things to lash out your spite.

one of my pet peeves is any attempt in hotd fic to present the driftmark fight as uniquely the fault or evidence of evil in any particular kid/group of kids/color team, like-they were children socially programmed to look down on each other for being girls, bastards, and/or dragonless, were further influenced by their parents' intergenerational baggage, had their navigations of these hierarchies thrown off balance by various forms of extreme trauma, and THEN were given access to sharp objects and living nukes. somebody was going to get seriously hurt at some point, it was inevitable no matter who reacted to what stressor. then the only course of healing modeled by adults on either side of the conflict was bloody revenge, which only exacerbated the issue.

the whole point isn't pointing out extreme moral flaws in these children, it's that they're forced into increasingly violent situations before they can really develop any personalities at all and the adults in their lives are so marked by their own violent upbringings that instead of realizing "hey, our kids being taught to hate each other for the stupidest reasons imaginable resulted in one of them being partially blinded, we need to change how we interact with one another extremely fast before they end up dead" they double down. because hotd doesn't work as a story of good vs evil, despite fans (and show runners) attempting to frame it that way, it's the story of an incredibly sick social hierarchy's self-destruction via how it treats and mistreats its young.
