21 - Are they a physically affectionate friend? With certain people or with everyone?

Yes, but it's complicated, lol. He has no problem hugging just about anyone unless they suck/he is actively mad at them, but as much as he likes cuddling he will only bring it up with people who have passed a certain level of friendship. With the androids this happened pretty much immediately, but it took a lot longer for him to be physically in the same places as them. A big part of it is he wants to be able to adequately interpret people's responses, because even among the androids opinions on cuddling are divided and rarely a "yes of course we are completely in agreement" kind of response. He's also trying to suss out when and with whom cuddling would be weird, because his measure for that often doesn't match other people's. So far no one has asked him to cuddle (well, except the family cat, but that was less an ask and more a "we're doing this now") but he'd almost certainly say yes.

57 - Have they ever had to give a friend a wake-up call for their “unfriendly” behavior?

He tried to with Syndy. But she pretty much ignored him every time he was like "hey maybe don't be mean to me or our mutual friends".

82 - Which friend would they call in an emergency?

Depends on the emergency and where he is at the time. But Anni, Tirias, and Red are on the top of his list.

97 - Have they ever had to take a step back from a friendship? Why?

Yes, because Syndy wouldn't listen to him every time he was like, "you're being mean stop it". So then he was like "well, okay, bye until you stop sucking", and she was like "what???? the fuck???? you can't unfriend me in real life that's literally not how it works", and he didn't answer because that is how it works as far as he's concerned (in his culture friend breakups are a thing. in hers, not so much). When she deigns to make a real apology they become friends again.

HERE'S THIS- it's a bit of a longer one, later on in the fic from a conversation roy has with dr sharon about all of the..... everything that's happened. he's been having a bad one, and hasn't really been unpacking that until now.

“I’m sure this has all been terribly painful for you.” The observation is delivered in the same calm, frank tone in which Sharon has rendered all her questions and responses throughout the conversation. It sets Roy’s teeth on edge just the same as many of the other things she’s said have done, even so. “For me?” he asks. There’s a faint, disbelieving sneer in his voice that he doesn’t try very hard to keep out of it. “My sister keeps saying the same shit, you know. That this has been hard for me, that it’s been painful for me, that she’s worried about me. But this shit didn’t happen to me. Dunno why you both keep…” Roy waves a hand to indicate the comments that Sarah and Sharon - and, okay, a few other people too - keep making to him.

“Well, stop looking at it from Jamie’s perspective for a moment.” Roy’s hackles go up immediately at that suggestion, but before he can voice his disagreement with it, Sharon shakes her head and elaborates. “I know, but I’m not saying forget it was him. I’m not saying make him not important. I’m saying think about what it means that it was him. For you.” It must be clear from his face that Roy doesn’t really understand what she means, because Sharon considers him for a moment and then keeps going. “This would have been a horrific thing to see happen to any stranger on the street, and it would be completely normal and expected for seeing that to upset and even traumatize you. But it wasn’t a stranger on the street. You witnessed a terrible, violent attack on someone you care for.” Sharon pauses there like she’s waiting for him to sign off on the descriptor. The fact that she stops and waits, looking at him expectantly, is what makes Roy say it. The question implied in her expression, and is that how you would describe him - as someone you care for? strikes him hard in the chest and he finds it revolting. Not the idea that he does care for Jamie, but the idea that he might say that he doesn’t, that there’s any kind of doubt about that at all. It flips his stomach and turns his hands to stone. “Someone I love.” The correction is out before he can stop it. Or, not before he can stop it. That would imply that he had tried to, that he would have tried to stop it, and he wouldn’t. It’s the first time he’s said such a thing directly, in his own voice, with his own words, and it stings coming out. Like it’s the sort of thing Roy just doesn’t know how to say. Like it’s the sort of thing he should have said a long time ago. Now, the only thing that he can imagine in the world that would have been harder than saying that would have been not saying it. Roy swallows hard, clearing his throat to dislodge the lump that’s risen suddenly in it. His voice is hoarse, saying, “He is my… He is my family. This happened to my family.”

um how do you feel about van/lottie for the ship game?

Van and Lottie are another ship I don't actually vibe with, but I am so compelled by the platonic arrangement. I love that Van is one of the trusted acolytes for Lottie's accidental cult situation. I love even more that I don't know that Van actually trusts in Lottie, per se; she just looks at this story they're trapped in, looks at how often Lottie gets things right, and understands a broader mind is going to be necessary for survival. I am fascinated by the fact that we get a real sense of what's going on from Van's perspective--with the dream, the bone necklace, her near-death experience, the meditation, etc--but we don't really know what Lottie's thinking in return. Like. Is Lottie relieved that Van's got her back? Is she hoping Van the storyteller will take the weight off her shoulders even before the Antler Queen of it all?

I think mostly I just like the idea that they were decent friends before the crash, and then Van is so eager to have some purpose, some way forward, that she unintentionally helps bend Lottie into a shape she can't hold for long. The look on Van's face when she gets to the compound and looks at Lottie for the first time is one of the most shattering, underrated moments in the show thus far, and I really want to know more about it. It just screams "I believed in you, and that belief broke something in us both, and then you vanished for 25 years" and that is just...devastating.

Asheera is a PDA fiend, and Shadowheart strikes me as someone that enjoys being adored. Maybe not "kissy kissy" PDA, but holding hands and calling her all sorts of wild names that she would never use otherwise. Like, she might even get called princess in public once or twice.

It's the sort of thing that makes others gag if they're anywhere in hearing range. Especially Astarion, not that Shadowheart could imagine letting him hear that*

57 - Have they ever had to give a friend a wake-up call for their “unfriendly” behavior?

To be honest, that's what she thought she was doing when she decided to stop being Spinder's friend after the events of control. How dare he get involved in her personal affairs (getting into an extremely public fistfight at school)? But they've been friends for so long by Nicea that she's definitely done it again. Probably at least once when Spinder was dating Fabian and was kinda making all their conversations about his problems with Fabian. She doesn't like to let things fester once she realizes there's a pattern, so I imagine she's had similar conversations with Tristan about Tristan letting her be unintentionally rude and so on. Arguably, the time she shocked Declan into getting clean by chugging the last of his bottle of whiskey in front of him also falls under this.

69 - What do they value most in a friend?

Honesty. They don't have to be as direct as her, but she has a lot of bad experiences with people (her parents lmao) not entirely telling the truth to suit their own aims, and it just making things harder for her.

73 - What would they do if their partner didn’t like their friend(s)?

She would try to get to the bottom of why her partner felt that way but in the end, she wouldn't care that much unless it was a friend that they saw together a lot, or her partner just despised said friend. Like, whatever, she doesn't like all of her partner's friends as much as they do, it can be a little unbalanced.

🎼 A song that reminds me of my muse’s vibes

So since I already did one of these for Nori and Cassius individually I guess I’ll do their partner dynamic now. I have a few songs for the two of them but I think I was an Island is the one I’m going with. It really fits with the fact that they can really get into Situations on their own (but especially Cassius) and have come to rely on the other to assess and work through said Situations. Ever since the two of them met they’ve shared many a ‘It’s right behind me, isn’t it’ and ‘one of us needs to talk the cops out of arresting us when this goes wrong’. The two of them fit together like puzzle pieces and even through their usual constant bugging sibling-like behavior (which is actually just an elaborate way for them to signify how well they know and trust the other), they become lost without each other. Also the [fancy music terms here] are great and fit with the flow of the mv that plays in my head every time this song plays.

"Gravestones Are Fragile"?? 👀

Oooh! That is Chapter 3 of The Road is Long (and Home is Gone) which is my From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series x The Vampire Diaries crossover! It has a very similar premise to Addendum in that they both have the lead female character, Elena Gilbert, verse hopping into another show's first season but The Road is Long is much less structured and much shorter (because the show is shorter!) which makes it easier to write and therefore more fun to me.

And while Addendum was born out of the way I watched Supernatural with my grandpa (explaining how an episode would go if Elena was there because he wanted to know why I shipped Elena with Dean Winchester) The Road is Long was born purely out of my desire to save a side character who dies in like the second/third episode, Monica, the bank teller! Elena is there when the Gecko brothers rob the bank and volunteers to be their hostage so no one else gets hurt because she fucking would lmao.

All of the chapters of this story are from poems I love, "Gravestones Are Fragile" comes from a poem by Russian poet, Anna Akhmatova, the title of which escapes right now...it might be one of her untitled poems. Edit: OH it's "Poem Without a Hero".

Seth gestures between the two of them uncomfortably. “Looks like a whole lot of bonding went down in here.” Richie nods vaguely. “Elena’s cool.” But Seth's not so sure how much he trusts his brother right now so he looks at her for confirmation. She raises one shoulder gracefully. “I’ve had worse kidnappers.” She offers up her past misfortune like it’s a high compliment. Richie points a fry at her. “But you’ve had better too, am I right?” She laughs, but nods. “Well, I mean, there were shots and burgers and pool, that’s a hard one to surpass.” She smiles somewhat fondly. “That was a good night.” Seth stares at her in amazement. “You think so fondly of all of your kidnappers?” She shakes her head seriously. “Not at all, that one just ended up being a pretty good time. Plus, you know, I kinda dated his brother.” “Huh.” He grabs his drink. “You are a fascinating girl, Elena Gilbert.” She grins. “Trust me, the less you know, the better.”
