academic affair, prologue (remus lupin x reader)
series summary being a professor at hogwarts always brought you an interesting day, but your past starts to reappear in odd ways: in the son of one of your former best friends, a dog you can't stop seeing, and an old crush getting the cursed job the school. it all looks to mean one thing--it's time to stop running from the things you tried hard not to think about.
warning none

harry, hermione, and ron were gathered in the empty classroom you were to begin a lesson in after your snack break--a habit they had grown into shortly after meeting you their first year. your feet were propped up on your desk as you ate your salad, watching harry pace and complain about his third-year classes already, despite only being a few days into the term.
"i think they're all riveting so far," hermione spoke bossily, shaking her head at the complaining boys.
"how would you know? you weren't even in potions today!" ron accused. you winked at hermione as her face flushed slightly. you knew her little time turner secret--it was a fate few students endured, but you had been one of the professors to recommend her for the honor when dumbledore inquired.
"i was there! we learned about the benefits of frog liver in healing potions!"
ron and harry looked to each other. "I actually don't know if that's true or not."
you let out a laugh before speaking, "it's just the second week, harry. it'll get better! patience is key."
harry huffed as he flopped into one of the chairs in the front row. "why can't i just take your class already?"
you shrugged. "i'll let you in." his head piped up. "if you can read my leaves from my old cup of tea for me." he sunk back down into the chair as you tutted, "have to know divination to take theory, harry. sad, but true."
he sulked for another moment before admitting, "i do like the new defense against the dark arts professor. lupin seems good."
the other two agreed and began to chat about it as you froze mid-chew.
when you heard remus lupin was taking the dark arts position, a rush of old, buried emotions came flooding back to you. your stupid schoolgirl crush seemed to take up space in your heart once again before you had even seen him again, and you cursed yourself for letting it happen. but remus was one of your best friends in your hogwarts days, and you had always wondered what could have been if you had ever had the guts to pursue something with him..
" .. professor? y/n!"
you snapped back into the moment, swallowing your bite as you gave your attention back to the trio. "sorry. got lost in thought. what's up?"
"did you know lupin when you went to hogwarts?"
your heart jumped unwillingly. "oh--yeah, of course. i don't want to air out his business for him if he hasn't said.. but he was very close to your parents, as well, harry." harry blinked in surprise. "but again, not my place to say without knowing if he wants all that to be said." the trio nodded.
"has he always had those scars?" ron asked, waving to his face.
you smiled a little. "yes. not those, specifically, but he always had a knack for getting new wounds back in our hogwarts days. never without a scratch."
"sounds like-"
"professor l/n?" all four of you looked to the open door of the classroom to see professor lupin himself standing with one hand on the frame, as if he had been summoned when you began to talk about him. your heart skipped while he swept his gaze to the students, lifting a hand in greeting, "hello harry, miss granger, mister weasley." they greeted him in return before he looked back to you as you swung your feet to the ground a little clumsily. you prayed your face wasn't as hot as it felt. "have you all seen a toad hopping about? had a student say he lost sight of him after charms this morning."
"oh, neville?" you laughed softly and the other three chuckled. lupin nodded. "no, we haven't seen trevor. we'll be sure to inform the owner if he's spotted, however."
lupin gave you a nod. "thanks." he paused for a moment in the doorway, looking like he was going to say something more, before patting the doorframe and moving away. after a moment you cleared your throat, swinging your feet back onto your desk and shuffling your fork through your salad.
"so, what were we saying before all that? something about divination?"
"you totally fancy professor lupin!" hermione scoffed. it was the first time you had seen her gaze properly off of her homework all afternoon. and she looked delighted about it, too.
now you knew your face was bright red. "you're loony, hermione. i'm thirty-five years old--i don't 'fancy' people."
"oh, what do you call it then?" harry grinned. "a crush? taking a liking too? or do we skip straight to pining at your age?" he dodged when your shoe came flying at him, but he was laughing the whole way. ron was chortling just as loudly.
"you three have lost it!" you declared, standing unevenly from your desk. "remus and i were good friends back in the day--nothing more, nothing less."
"remus, is it?" harry gawked, making the other two laugh and tease again while you stripped off your other shoe. the warning bell rang just then.
"you've been saved, you have!" you called as they scrambled to get their things together. "teasing a professor like a student--rotten children!"
"and yet, you keep inviting us around!"

Yandere Golden Trio Headcanons (Platonic)
❝ 🔮 — lady l: another Harry Potter headcanons because my mind is buzzing with ideas yayy!! I hope you like it and forgive me for any mistakes! 💜
❝tw: obsessive and possessive behavior, jealousy, overprotection and implicit murder.
❝ 🔮pairing: yandere!golden trio/harry potter, hermione granger and ron weasley x gender neutral!reader.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You probably did not know, but they were obsessed with you from the first day of class at Hogwarts. All of you were new and some strangers to this world and they needed something they could cling to, something that would not leave them and that someone was you.
You met on the train. You and Hermione sat together and talked a little until you went with the other boys, at her insistence, you went along and that was when you met Harry and Ron.
They were ecstatic to discover that you were new too and couldn't wait to be with you at Hogwarts. Once you were selected into a house other than theirs, they would sulk and even get angry. But if you were a Gryffindor like them, there would be no problem to deal with.
They are incredibly possessive of you and they will get upset and irritated when you are with someone other than them, especially if it is someone like Draco Malfoy. You are theirs, you had become theirs since the first conversation on the train and you would continue to be theirs.
Harry is the least possessive, but he is still very jealous of you, even with his own friends. He is very kind and polite, so loyal to his friends and so adored, there is no bad intention in his actions and his thoughts are all about you. He needs to protect you, take care of you because he can't bear to lose you.
He is very calm and rarely loses his temper, Harry just wants to protect you and take care of you. He can't lose anyone else and he can't lose you. Harry is very overprotective and suffocating at times, wanting to know how you are and what you are doing. He's just looking out for you like a good friend would.
Ron is very possessive and suffocating, his insecurity will take him to extremes just to get your affection. He is very lively and optimistic, he is always the one who will lift you up and make you laugh every time you are feeling bad. He cares for you very much and secretly longs to be your favorite.
He is very insecure deep down and fears being abandoned by you, and he can't have that. Ron likes to keep you with him, always keeping you safe and secure, and most importantly of all, just with him. Ron is very spontaneous and lively, desperately wanting to be loved by you.
Hermione is the most balanced, or so she likes to think. She is very intelligent and kind to you, always making sure you are well and happy. Hermione likes to stay by your side in silence, whether it's reading a book or talking about something. She would love to help you with your studies, even if you don't need it, but it would make her very happy.
She is very possessive and manipulative, having seen you first, she should have more right to you. Hermione is fiercely protective of you and jealous, wanting to be the only one to have your attention. She is very careful about you and is always trying to help you, even if you don't need it, but this helps her feel needed. Hermione is a big fan of hers, always rooting for you.
They are extremely protective of you and they are willing to do anything for you, including using forbidden magic. Harry is very suffocating and needs constant reassurance that you are okay, Ron desperately wants your attention and affection and Hermione needs to care and guide you.
You will always be theirs. There's no way to walk away, even if you wanted to. They would never dare to harm you in any way, but if you are resolute in doing things that they vehemently disapprove of, punishment will be meted out. They don't want to scare you, that's the last thing they want, but they have limits.
At any sign of conflict or danger you will be removed. It doesn't matter if you know how to fight or are good with spells, they won't risk your safety and your life. And if you are hurt, they will go into a frenzy of rage and worry and will not stop until they find the culprit and deal with them. No one can hurt you.
Harry would always protect you and be by your side, holding your hand if you needed it. Ron will always cheer you up and say the right things to make you happy and Hermione will always guide you and take care of you in her own way.
Once they become obsessed with you, there is nothing to be done. Not even Dumbledore could help you, not when the obsession, the need to protect you, was already so ingrained in the Trio. You would have to get used to being deeply loved and protected because they aren't going anywhere and neither are you.

Girl’s Night at The Burrow by Me ✨
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
Pairings: George Weasley/reader (fem)
I wrote this when I was like 15 and originally posted it on wattpad, then ao3, and now this lovely platform.
FLUFF
My favorite fanfic theme, TENSION ❤️❤️
1.6k words
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
Shouts and laughs fill the air of the Weasley’s living room, except they’re all emitted from loud and rowdy boys that should really be in bed right now. The only reason they aren’t is because Arthur persuaded Molly into letting them stay up until midnight seeing as it is summer break and on summer break, the children should be having fun.
“Get ready for bed, boys!” Molly’s voice echoes through the house from the kitchen.
“What? No way! It’s an hour till midnight, mum.” Ron rejected.
“I know dear,” she returned to her calm motherly voice, “It’s just for tonight, pip pip.”
I was handed an excruciatingly hot mug from her which appeared to be cocoa. Bye bye finger prints, now I’m free from the law, I guess. Ginny pushed her seat back with a sigh to excuse herself.
“No, no, Ginny sit back down, you’re staying here. So are you, Y/N.”
Ginny and I exchanged perplexed glances at one another as we mentally analyzed the passing week to discover anything we might have done wrong that we would be in trouble for. Molly walked away to the kitchen, presumably to make another hot chocolate for Ginny or herself.
In her absence, I whispered to Ginny, “did you do anything bad??”
.
“Nothing she knows about.” She whispered back, mirroring my clueless demeanor.
The second hot chocolate was placed on a coaster and slid to Ginny, who soon burnt her tongue.
“Now I know you’re wondering why I put everyone to bed”, a smug smirk appeared on her face and she placed her hand on her hips, “but it’s been ages since I’ve got to have a good girl talk and pampering. I brought a muggle face mask and- oh. Where do you suppose Hermione is at?”
“Did you tell her to stay down?” Ginny asked with an ice cube resting on her tongue.
“Oops.” Molly went to make yet another hot chocolate while I ran up to our room to find her, on the way being stopped in my tracks by George leaving the bathroom with nothing but a towel wrapped upon his waist and wet hair dripping water everywhere which Ron will probably step on later with socks by accident and throw a fit about. George is not the stoic and mysterious person he thinks he is, especially since the blushy tint of his cheeks was very obvious.
“Why have you not got any pajamas on yet?” He looked me up and down.
“Why’ve you not even got a shirt on?”
“Uh, well, do you like, wear your clothes in the shower or something?”
“Only when I’m feeling spontaneous.” With that sarcasm, I pushed past him in an attempt to hide the blush that I can definitely feel, and that he definitely noticed.
“MIONE!” I frantically knock on the door, internally withering away at the thought of George.
“BLIMEY, WHAT??” Her book falls to the floor when she reaches to hold her heart after being startled.
“Sorry. You’re not supposed to go to bed yet, we’re having a girls night.”
“Oh well okay”, she crawls out of bed, “wish I got the memo earlier, though”
She walks ahead of me with one of her blankets wrapped over her shoulders.
“Ah, good.” Molly waddles over to the table with more mugs and headbands are laid out already, along with a jar of bentonite clay. Hermione takes a seat and grabs the plush bunny headband.
“Y/N do you want the leopard print one or the bear one?” asks Ginny.
“Whatever one you don’t want”
She tosses me the leopard print one. “Damn.”
“If you wanted the bear one, you should have said so when I gave you the chance.” She rolls her eyes.
“No, no, the leopard print one is… nice.”
The hot chocolate is stubborn to cool off, but that’s never stopped me.
“So you fancy George?” Hermione is now applying the clay.
I nearly spat out my drink which would have been better than choking on it as I did. Ginny’s jaw dropped.
“I knew it!” Molly seems overjoyed as she slams her hands on the table.
“Hermione. I love you, but what the hell.”
She seems to be unconcerned- as if what relationship I could potentially have with George is clearly a matter of fact. How a scientist might discuss data.
“Sorry, isn’t that what you’re supposed to talk about at ‘girl time’?”
“Well… yeah, actually. I just wasn't expecting that in the slightest.”
“At least we know you wouldn’t be rejected.” Ginny says, also in a matter-of-fact tone while sipping her cocoa.
“Sorry?”
Molly is doing her best to withhold her glee, “Well it’s obvious, isn’t it?”
“What?”
“Oh come on! He never shuts up about you. Everybody knows about his crush on you.”
“Everybody except me, apparently???” I’m flabbergasted, “how do you know?”
“Oh, well I don’t know, maybe cause he shoves our stuff over to sit next to you, or cause he’s always staring at you, or cause he steals your stuff, or cause-”
“I think she gets it, mum.” Ginny interrupts.
“No, no, no keep going, keep going.”
“This is something I think is especially cute,” Molly scrunches her shoulders up, “when he knows you’re coming over, he cleans his room and puts on fresh clothes.”
“He does all the stuff in the book Y/N, honestly, come on” Ginny says.
Hermione adds, “And you eat it up, you just don’t know it.”
I put my face in my hands. “Hermione help me.”
“With what?”
“When I went up to get you I bumped into him after he got out of the shower and he was shirtless and I was a blushing mess and there’s no way he couldn’t have noticed.”
“Oh, so that’s what was wrong with you.”
“I don’t know what to do.”
“Flirt back.” Ginny shrugged.
“Easy for you to say.”
After Molly takes off her mask, she rips open a bag of what she calls “muggle chips” and pours them into a bowl so tackily decorated, you’d only find it in the china cabinet of a very old lady.
“Where’d you get all the muggle stuff?”
“Mostly Hermione, but the weird things laying around like this, uh…” she pokes at a pocket sized flashlight laid on the side table of the couch, “that’s Arthur.”
I get up and look out the window to see the surrounding field, filled with the chirps of crickets enjoying the summer air. Ginny follows. The moon hangs like a plate in the sky and stars are spattered in all directions around it.
“It’s the prettiest thing in the world”
“Not in George’s opinion.”
“Ginny, drop it!” I shot her a lightheartedly serious look and we went to sit back down.
Footsteps thumped down the stairs, and the room dropped to a dead silence. My back was to the rest of the house and I couldn’t see who approached, but given Ginny and Hermione’s wide-eyed stares into my soul and Molly covering her mouth with her hand, I could assume the worst. I heard water pour from the pitcher behind me.
“Pretty hopping party, huh?” George took a look around. “When I’m with my friends, I like to sit with my back perfectly straight in deafening silence too.”
“George, go to bed.” Molly was stern.
“But I wanna come to girls’ night.”
“You’re lacking some plumbing.” Ginny giggled.
“I can trash talk people just as well as you lot can.” He leaned onto my chair with his hand resting on my shoulder, still sipping water, “did you see Freddie’s outfit today, woof. As if we’re not dealing with enough right now.”
I folded over in my chair snickering. Unbeknownst to me, he looked at Ginny and mouthed a triumphant, “yes!” to her, delighted to make me laugh.
“Go!” Molly swatted him with a headband, which he dodged only with his hips and kept himself in the exact same spot.
“I keep telling him to stay away from yellows since they wash out his features, you know, but he never listens.
“George.”
“Alright, alright”
Once he had left, Hermione squealed, “That was so adorable!”
Ginny cheered, “Aww little Georgie’s in love.”
Again, with my face in my hands I gasped “Okay, you’re right, Mione.”
“About?”
“I like him. He makes my heart drop to my stomach when I see him. He has the cutest smile ever.”
“You should tell him!” Molly is ecstatic.
“Maybe. Maybe one day.”
Ginny raised her eyebrows, “If you put it off too long, then I’m going to tell him myself.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. I gotta pee, I’ll be right back.”
I abruptly left my seat and walked to the bathroom for a second alone to have a reality check. The hallway to the bathroom matches the scrappy but warm vibe of the house with hanging hand-knit tapestries adorning the wall and random shoes shoved to the corners of the floor.
“OH-” I let out a yelp.
“Shh” said George, who apparently was lingering around the corner the whole time.
“You nosy little-”
He cut me off with a kiss. His hands gripped on my cheeks and my hips. If I weren’t as stunned as I am, I might have noticed the warmth and smooth texture of his lips, or his strong frame holding me up, or even the cologne he wears just for me.
“You have a cute smile, too.”
“You’re pathetic, George.” I lay my head into his collarbones.
Into my ear, he whispers, “I love you”, then retreats back to his bedroom, blowing a kiss on the way.
“Good night.”

Long long time ago, I can still remember how that music used to make me smile
Slowly, your eyes opened and tried to adjust to the light streaming through the windows directly at you, as if on purpose to wake you up.
Stifling a groan, you sat upright and dropped your head into your hands, not wanting to face the day. Not another one. You didn’t know how much longer you could do it without your brother by your side. And it had only been a month.
The singular thought keeping you going was the thought that one day you would be able to get Harry back, your last link to James and your only surviving family member.
It had been a struggle tracking him down, it was as if he had disappeared off the face of the earth. But you weren’t yet ready to give up.
You had meant it, you would find the boy. Even if it was the last thing you ever did.
And I knew if I had my chance, that I could make those people dance
Picking up the Daily Prophet, you shoveled a spoonful of eggs into your mouth and began reading.
The news had long since slowed down, and tried to move on from the war by talking about it. As if that would erase it from everyone else’s memory. As if it never happened.
It was quite boring, the new players for a quidditch team, some Ministry of Magic mishap with the muggle thing called hand sanitizer mixed with a hair growing potion.
But then you got to the last page.
The reporters finally got a full list of everybody that passed on during the war. Names on random spots of the page jumped at your eyes in sharp, dangerous pangs.
James Potter. Lily Potter. Marlene McKinnon. Fabian Prewett. Gideon Prewett-
You harshly pushed away from the table, not paying any mind to the high pitched scraping sound it made against the floor, and your breathing picked up.
You couldn’t do this, you couldn’t be here, not without them. Not without them. Not without them. Not without-
Harry.
You needed to find Harry. He was the only thing that would keep you grounded. And if you didn’t find him soon, you don’t know what you would do. What you would live to regret.
And maybe they'd be happy for a while
After finishing buttoning up your cloak, you let out a sigh, slowly letting your eyes drift to the dresser in the corner of the room, the one that held a picture on its surface.
In it, you were jumping on James’s back making funny faces, stuck in a timeless loop of happiness.
What the camera hadn’t picked up on was Mia and Fleamonts smiling faces behind the flash, capturing the moment for all of eternity.
It was one of the only photos you could stomach to keep on display.
But February made me shiver
Finally. You had finally done it.
Frozen, you stood before the plain brown door with unseeing eyes and a mile-a-minute mind.
Harry James Potter was sitting just beyond this door.
You had finally been able to track him down with mountains of spells and potions that had taken months to go through. You had a first gone to Dumbledore, hoping he would give you any indication as to where your nephew was, but he offered you nothing, claiming it was safer that way. You had proceeded to storm out of the room, slamming the door harsh enough to shake the walls behind you.
The wind rushed against your skin like a swarm of needles, and you shuddered a little, officially breaking out of your thoughts and you raised your fist to knock on the door.
With every paper I'd deliver
You couldn’t believe your own eyes, not as you stared down at one year old Harry in your arms, staring up at you with wide eyes and an even wider, gummy smile.
You hadn’t wasted another second after standing on the Dursleys doorstep to storm in wand ablaze and demand you take your nephew.
The cowards didn’t even put up a fight as they let you take him, but you wouldn’t complain- you were able to get in and out without any trouble.
Bad news on the doorstep, I couldn't take one more step
“Auny Y/n! Auny Y/n!” Young Harry babbled, making grabby motions with his chubby hands up at you from his crib.
You smiled softly, reaching your arm out and allowing his tiny fingers to wrap around your much larger ones.
The second a knock sounded through your home, your entire body stiffened and your hand automatically went to the wand you kept in your pocket at all times.
Turning on your heel, you left your giggling nephew behind as you slowly crept towards the front door, unsure of what was awaiting you on the other end.
Tentatively, you peered through the small window near the door and let out a sigh of relief, stance automatically relaxing as you opened it to reveal the headmaster of Hogwarts. Though you were still angry with him for not revealing Harry’s location, at least it was him and not anyone else.
“What do you want, Albus?” You asked, long since having stopped using teacher-student formalities.
He looked up at you with sad eyes, “I-“
Harry let out a particularly loud babble behind you, and your body once again stiffened.
What if he tried to take Harry away from you? What if you couldn’t stop him? What if-
“First of all,” His tone softened, “How is young Harry doing?”
You eyed the man skeptically, “He’s doing fine,”
He chuckled lightly, “I assure you, I’m not here to take him away, Miss. Potter.” His words made you calm down once more, “But I am afraid I come bearing bad news.”
It was like someone was playing with an on and off switch with your emotions, allowing you to think everything was okay before flipping the switch teasingly.
“I understand that you haven’t always been the closest with Sirius Black,”
Your eyebrows furrowed, “No,” You admitted, “Not like James is-was, but he’s still my friend.” You cleared your throat slightly at the small error you made.
“I’m afraid Mr. Black has been sent to Azkaban for the murder of Peter Pettigrew.”
You didn’t know if it was possible to have your heart torn into any more pieces than it already had been. But if it was possible, then that’s exactly what happened to you in that moment.
Though you and Sirius hadn’t in fact been very close, you had been there for him when he moved into your house that one summer after things got really bad with his parents. The two of you could always joke around in a class together and be comfortable around each other.
You never could have pictured him killing one of his best friends- even though you barely knew the other boy. From what you saw though, Peter was a sweet and gentle kid that would do anything for his friends. Just like how Sirius used to bed
“I shall leave you alone once more,” Albus declared softly, “And Miss. Potter?” He called after a silent moment. “I truly am sorry for everything.”
You slammed the door in his face.
I can’t remember if I cried, when I read about his widowed bride
For the first time in weeks, you picked up the Daily Prophet after being able to put Harry down for his first nap in a while, that boy was as stubborn as his father.
You casually flipped through the pages, skimming over the sections that went on about quidditch matches finally starting up again after the war. What you hadn’t expected to see, was the grinning faces of your brother and sister in law on the last page.
Your breath caught in your throat and your eyes went wide when you realized that it was a tribute to the two of them from some of their friends from their time in Hogwarts. Some kids that knew them well enough to be friendly, but not enough to have any right to print a long section in the paper about how impactful their lives were.
It felt as though your lungs were closing in on themselves as you stared down with watered eyes at the words. You thought you had gotten over it. You thought you would be able to move on.
But seeing the page-long writing about them pushed you over the edge and you dropped the paper as you collapsed to the ground with a sob.
You reached a hand up to cover your mouth so you wouldn’t wake Harry, who was sleeping soundly in the other room over.
Apparently you weren’t quiet enough though, because Harry’s cries soon joined yours, alerting you of his newly awoken form.
Quickly, you reached up and harshly wiped your tears away. You wouldn’t let your own grief get in the way of taking care of Harry. You were going to do everything in your power to look after the boy to the best of your ability.
“Hey, Harry,” You smiled softly as you entered the room, bending down and scooping him into your arms, “It’s alright, it’s alright. I’m here now.”
But something touched me deep inside, the day the music died
“Auntie! Auntie!” Harry cheered, tripping over his own feet as he stumbled into the room, “Look! Look!”
You raised your head with an amused twinkle in your eyes as you moved your gaze to meet his, “What is it?”
Grinning wildly, he took a large eveleope from behind his back and presented it to you, “It’s my Hogwarts acceptance letter!”
Pride and happiness swelled and whirrled around in your chest and you broke out into a grin that was similar to his, “Oh, good job, Harry!” You cried, wrapping your nephew into a tight hug that he excitedly returned.
“Merlin, I can’t believe I’m going to Hogwarts,” Harry rambled, “I mean, after all the stories you’ve told I feel like I’ve already been there, but it’s still-“
“Harry,” You cut him off with a small laugh, pulling away and putting your hands on his shoulders, “Do you know what this means?”
He shook his head, messy hair that was much like James’s flopping back and forth, “What?” There was curiosity in his voice.
Your grin widened, “It means that we need to take a trip to Diagon Alley!”
The boy let out a cheer, jumping up and down on the balls of his feet.
With that, the two of you took the floo network and began shopping around for any and everything that he could possibly need during his year, all while memories of the past tickled the back of your mind. Of the summers before every September that you and your family would spend roaming these very streets.
As the two of you sat down at a small table with some ice cream, you couldn’t help the small, sad smile you sent Harry’s way.
“Wha’?” He asked through a mouthful of the food.
You shook your head softly, “This just reminds me of times with your father.” You admitted in a small whisper.
He smiled understandably and reached over to squeeze your hand, “It’s alright, Aunt Y/n.” He comforted, “Because you have me now.”
You gave him a teary smile and patted his hand appriciantly, “Thank you, Harry.” You reached over with your other hand and ran it through his messy locks, “I know I do.”
So bye-bye, Miss American Pie
“Your grandmother always used to fuss over me and your father like this,” You mumbled, dusting imaginary lint off of Harry’s shirt, “I can't believe I’m turning into my mother.”
The boy smiled, “Getting more like an old lady every day.” He teased.
You scowled, reached up and lightly slapped him upside the head, “Watch it,” You mockingly scolded, “Or else I’ll make you live in the closet under the stairs when you get home.”
His grin widened and he reached over and wrapped his arms around your waist, “I’ll see you at Christmas.” He mumbled into your shirt.
Harshly, you blinked away tears that had begun to fill your eyes, not wanting to cry in front of your nephew over something as simple as him leaving to go to Hogwarts.
“I shouldn’t be crying, right?” You mumbled into his ear.
He pulled away with a laugh and shrugged, “I don’t mind.”
You smiled at him through your blurry vision and reached up to cup his cheek, “I want you to write all the time. Don’t hesitate to come to me if you need anything. I mean it, Harry.”
“I will.” He promised, hugging you quickly again so you could kiss the top of his head before standing back and picking up his bag, “I better go before the express leaves without me.”
“Yeah, yeah,” You cleared your throat, “Good idea.”
“I love you, Auntie!” He called before disappearing into the crowd.
“Love you too,” You whispered to the empty place he had once been standing in.
“Oh, darling.” The familiar voice of none other than Molly Weasley cooed, making her way over to where you stood and wrapping a comforting arm around your shoulder, “First year is always hard.”
You let out a watery chuckle, “I don’t know how you’ve done this so many times.” You admitted.
“It’s still hard,” She confessed, “But it started to get a bit easier over time.” She turned her head to smile at you, “I’m just glad that Ron and Harry are together.”
You hummed in agreement, glad that he was with the childhood friends that he met in nursery school, causing you and the rest of the family to grow close as well over the years. Well, after they got over the fact that he was The Harry Potter, that is.
“I’m gonna miss him,” You mumbled.
“I know, but he’s going to do so well at Hogwarts. You’re going to be so proud of him.” The woman reassured you.
You smiled at her, “Both of them are gonna make us really proud.” Bringing her son into this as well.
Molly shook her head helplessly, “It’s either that or we will be getting a letter for their expulsion in a week.”
“Fred and George made it this far.” You teased with a small snigger.
She threw her head back with a laugh, “Indeed they did.”
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
You smiled widely at the letter that sat in your hands, reading and rereading everything that Harry had to tell you about his first week at school.
About the new friends he made, the adventures he already had in Gryffindor house, and even some of the enemies he made. Though, you couldn’t fault him for hating any son of Lucius Malfoy.
What you had said to Molly was true, you were going to miss Harry. But Hogwarts would be good for him. He would be able to make memories just like you had. The good and the bad.
Not only that, but he wouldn’t have a war to worry about. He would be able to enjoy being a kid within the walls.
Them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
“Happy Christmas!” You and Harry cheered in sync the moment you stepped through the doors of the Burrow, piles of presents in your arms.
“Oh, Happy Christmas!” Molly cried happily, coming around the corner and beginning to help you with everything, “Boys!” She snapped, “Come help the Potters with their things!” Before smiling kindly at the two of you once more, emitting laughs from your lips.
“Thank you, Ron.” You breathed out once he took a particularly heavy wrapped box before turning and nodding in greeting to Arthur, “Happy Christmas.”
“Happy Christmas, yourself.” The man chirped back while grinning and pulling Harry into a quick side hug before ushering the two of you into the living room where the rest of the Weasley children sat.
Quickly, they all scrambled up at the sight of the two of you and you all exchanged hugs and joyful greetings.
“Can we please do the presents now, mum?” Ginny whined, “We’ve been waiting all morning!”
Her mother looked down at her sternly, but you were quick to wrap an arm around Mollys shoulder and smile at her, “Come on, Mol, it’s Christmas!”
“Yeah! Listen to Aunt Y/n!” Fred piped up, George nodding along with his twin.
“Oh, alright,” Even Molly couldn’t hide the smile that sat upon her features as she said it though, “Pass them out, all of you.”
You looked up in surprise and slightly wide eyes when Ron shyly handed you a gift, “This is for you,” He mumbled.
“O-oh, thank you, Ron.” You said genuinely, not having expected anything at all.
As soon as you opened it, tears began to fill your eyes when you saw the contents. It was a sweater with your first initial sewn into it.
“I know I normally just do it for the kids,” Molly spoke, “But I figured you could use one too.”
You bit down on your lip slightly, running a hand gently down the soft fabric. It reminded you of when your own mother used to knit, “Thank you, Mol.” You whispered, thankful that the children were too preoccupied with their own gifts to realize what was going on.
“Oh, come now. Cheer up,” She rubbed your back comfortingly, “It’s Christmas.”
You smiled over at her, leaning your head against her shoulder, “Thank you.” You repeated.
Singing, "This'll be the day that I die"
“What the bloody hell happened?” You demanded as soon as you slammed open the doors to the Hospital Wing and stormed into the room with a cloud of rage sitting over your head.
“Ah, Miss. Potter. So nice of you to join us.” Dumbledore spoke, standing up from beside your nephew's bed, where he lay unconscious. The man spoke in such a way as if you had simply run into each other at the grocery store.
“Cut the bullshit, Albus.” You snapped with a deadly glare set on your face, “Your letter only told me that Harry was unconscious. You didn’t tell me a single thing about how he ended up unconscious.”
He sighed, cutting right to the chase, “I am afraid that Voldemort has returned.”
You froze in your steps, heart hammering mercilessly against your rib cage, “What did you just say?” As if he would change his words by your tone alone.
“This might be a conversation best had while sitting down-“ He gestured to some visitor chairs.
“I much prefer to stand.” You seethed, unable to slow your racing thoughts.
So the headmaster explained.
Voldemort. The man who slaughtered everyone you loved in the name of his pathetic war- and almost succeeded with taking Harry- was back and he went after your nephew again to try and seek revenge.
“I thought Hogwarts was safe.” It wasn’t hard to miss the way you had shifted your body so that you were standing in front of Harry’s bed, as if you alone could create a wall of protection around the boy, “This is supposed to be a place that will protect him.”
“Indeed,” Was the only answer you were offered.
You scoffed, “I hope you know that he will not be returning next year after all this.”
“Are you sure that is wise?” The older man asked with a single raised eyebrow, “It is your choice Miss. Potter, but don’t you think that it’s better for Harry to be surrounded by some of the finest witches and wizard staff who will now keep a closer eye on him?”
That made you hesitate.
“You alone can’t protect the boy from the world.” He continued.
Slowly, you turned your head to stare down at Harry, who’s steady rise and fall of his chest was the only thing indicating that he was still alive.
This will be the day that I die
“I don’t like this,” You mumbled, crossing your arms over yourself as your eyes flitted around the train station.
He sighed, “I know, Aunt Y/n, but I think Dumbledore was right, Hogwarts is the safest place for me to be.”
Finally, you met his eyes and sighed, dropping your arms to the side, “I know,” You admitted, “But that still doesn’t mean that I have to like it.”
Harry gave you his best attempt at a smile, “I know.”
“Here,” You reached forward and plucked his glasses off his face before rubbing them softly against your shirt and placing them back on the bridge of his nose once you deemed them clean enough, “Remember what I said?”
“Notify you the minute anything seems off.” He repeated the words you had drilled into his head over and over again over summer break.
“Right,” You breathed out, “Now, are you sure you still want to go-“
“Yes.” He smiled a little bit, “I’ll be fine. I have Ron and Hermione.”
You huffed a bit, “I know that, but-“
“Auntie.” He spoke sternly, “You don’t need to worry, it’ll be fine.”
You were silent for a moment, before you put your hands up in surrender, “Okay, okay, alright.”
“I’ll be fine.”
Did you write the Book of Love?
“This is the second time,” You ranted angrily, pacing up and down Dumbledore's office, “This is the second time in two years that Harry was put into immediate danger in this school.”
Albus sighed, eyes following you back and forth, “I assure you, it was never my intention to put him in any harms way-“
“I never said it was.” You rounded on him, “But it still seemed to happen under your watch.”
He pursed his lips together, “That is very true.”
You reached up and ran a hand through your hair in frustration, “What am I supposed to do now? You claim that Hogwarts is still the safest place for him, but he was attacked in this building twice.”
“I assure you, Miss. Potter, necessary precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of him and all of the other children.”
You glared at him, “I was told something like that last time. But then Harry was still attacked by a basilisk.”
It was silent for a moment before he spoke up again, “I didn’t tell you this before because I didn’t want to further worry you nor Harry, but there is a possibility that Voldemort is still out there.”
You sucked in a sharp breath at his words, “But you said after last year-“
“I know what I said,” He agreed, “But there is a large chance that I was wrong.”
Your eyes snapped over to meet his, “Having him here is better than having him outside of here if he decides to come for him again.” You whispered quietly.
Albus nodded, “My thoughts exactly.”
Slowly, you nodded and turned to leave, but paused with your hand on the doorknob, “Let’s not tell Harry yet. Just in case it’s not true.”
“You have my word.”
With that, you exited the office, softly shutting the door behind you.
And do you have faith in God above?
“Remus,” You froze, breathing out the name almost as if you didn’t believe that you were saying it.
“Y/n,” He was in a similar state to yours, staring at you with wide eyes, neither one of you paying any mind to the commotion of the platform going on around you.
The two of you hadn’t talked since that day you shoved him away while grieving for James. Sure, he tried to reach out from time to time, but ultimately decided that space was what you had needed the best.
You swallowed, “What- what are you doing here.”
“I’m going to be the new defense against the dark arts professor.” He informed you while clearing his throat, “It’s good to see you.” He added after a moment.
You shook away your shock and decided upon smiling kindly at the man, “You too, Remus, you too.”
“Is…” He trailed off, seeming to try and find the right words.
“Harry just got onto the train with some friends.” You informed him, knowing exactly what he was going to ask.
“Third year?” You nodded your head and he let a small breath loose, “It feels like we were just his age.”
Your smile turned sad, “We might as well have been.”
The train whistled and both of you turned to look at it.
“I should go.” He spoke, giving you one of his famously kind smiles.
Your face turned serious, “Listen, Remus. I know that I’m in no place to be asking for favors, but-“
“Of course I’ll watch over Harry.” He said softly, “And not just for James. For you too.” He looked you in the eyes to show his sincerity.
“Thank you.”
He shook his head, beginning to walk backwards towards the train, “There’s no need to thank me.”
It felt like a weight had been lifted off your chest because even though you hadn’t spoken to the man in years, you knew that he was one of the only people alive that you would trust with not just yours, but Harry’s life as well.
If the Bible tells you so
You gripped the Daily Prophet tightly, eyes scanning over the same line again and again. The one that read that Sirius Black had escaped Azkaban.
The very man that had not only betrayed Lily and James, but had also killed Peter right afterwards. And now he was loose and running amok in Merlin knows where.
As long as he stayed far away from Harry, you couldn’t find it in yourself to care. Even after all he did. It was best not to dwell on the man who had taken everything from you, it would only consume your entire being.
Do you believe in rock 'n' roll?
You crept up the creaking stairs of the Shrieking Shack after receiving a vague letter from Remus that you had no reason not to wholeheartedly believe.
He would never under any circumstances lie about Sirius Black not being the traitor that you all thought him to be. That Peter was really it and he was still alive. You knew you could believe it because James and Lily’s deaths are nothing to joke about, and Remus more than anyone knew that. So that’s why you had snuck into Hogwarts and were meeting him here.
As soon as you reached the top of the stairs, your eyes locked onto Harry, Ron, and Hermione, all cowering in a corner of a top room and you rushed to their sides. Immediately, you reached out to cup Harry and Ron’s cheeks as your eyes scanned over Hermione for any sign of injury.
“Are you guys alright?” You asked worriedly.
Without a word your nephew guestered shakily to a figure behind you, and you whipped around to face what he was so scared of.
Remus standing beside none other than Sirius Black.
Though he was dirty and had changed so, so much from the last time you had seen one another, you didn’t hesitate to spring forward and wrap your arms around his neck, bringing him in for a hug.
True, you had never been as close to him as your brother had. But you still spent most of your summers with him and he had once been someone you could consider a friend. And you didn’t have many of those now adays.
“What are you doing?” Ron shrieked in horror before either you or the man could get a word in to one another after pulling away, “He’s trying to kill us.”
“No, he is not, Mr. Weasley.” Remus explained patiently, “But I am afraid that there is another being in this room that is.”
“A-Auntie?” Harry asked shakily, “What’s going on?”
Before you could respond, a rat you hadn’t even noticed leapt forward and transformed into a man midair. A man you knew to be Peter Pettigrew.
The sight of him alone made you see red. Every bit of pain, grief, and despair that you had felt within the last thirteen years all coming to crash down on you at once because it was all due to him. He was the reason James was dead.
Ignoring Sirius’s hand that flew out to stop you, you stormed over and grabbed Peters collar with so much power that the large man was left stumbling, and pulled out your wand, jabbing it painfully into his neck.
“You dirty little rat.” You seethed, “How dare you,” You took a deep breath and repeated the question, shouting it at the top of your lungs this time. You missed the way the three children flinched at the suddenness of it.
You sensed the two men coming to stand at your sides.
“I’m going to kill you for what you did.” There was no threat behind your words, it was only a clear statement.
Gently, Remus guided your hand down, “He’ll pay for what he did.” He whispered the promise in your ear, “By sending him to Azkaban.”
You didn’t reply, just pushed your wand into his neck harder, making him whimper pathetically.
“Harry doesn’t need you going to prison too.” Sirius muttered from beside you, and those words finally made you pause.
You glanced over to where he stood, being held back from springing forward to help you by his friends, and you finally, reluctantly released your death grip on Peter.
As soon as you let go though, you reeled your fist back and sent it flying forward until you heard a satisfying crunch and a scream of pain from the traitor.
Without a look back, you allowed Remus and Sirius to grab either arm and begin to drag the struggling man out and you went to the trio that was still in the corner.
“Are you all alright?” You repeated your earlier question.
“Was that him? The man that turned my parents in?” Were Harry’s only words.
Ron and Hermione silently exchanged glances before slipping out of the room to give the two of you some space.
Biting down on your lip, you nodded your head and immediately wrapped your arms around the boys shaking form, “Yeah, yeah it was.”
“Did you almost kill him?” His words were slightly muffled through where he was resting his head against your shirt.
“Yes,” You didn’t even try to lie to him, “And I would have if I wasn’t reminded that you still needed me out here, not needing me to be thrown into Azkaban.”
He looked up at you with tear filled eyes, “But that’s where he’s going?”
You sighed and nodded, “Yeah, yeah. That’s where he’s going.”
Can music save your mortal soul?
“I miss James.” Sirius spoke up after a comfortable silence had been sitting over the two of you for many moments.
You hummed, glancing at the man from the corner of your eye, “Yeah, I do too.” You said quietly.
You both sat a little bit away from the group, staring up at Hogwarts, so beautiful and lit up at night.
Neither of you spoke for another minute before you blurted out, “I’m sorry.”
He turned to you with furrowed eyebrows, “What for?”
“I didn’t at first…” You spoke hesitantly, “But I guess over time I began to believe that you really had betrayed them.” You shook your head roughly with a scoff, “There was just not other explanation and I couldn’t let myself live like that anymore. Going it over again and again in my head without end to try and figure out what really happened-“
“Hey,” He cut you off by placing a hand on your shoulder, “It’s alright, Y/n. I get it, I promise you, I do.”
“It’s still not fair to you.” You whispered.
“Maybe not,” He agreed, “But at least now we both can rest knowing that we put away the man that really betrayed them.”
And can you teach me how to dance real slow?
You let curiosity take over and you blindly let your feet begin to walk by themselves towards the kitchen, where music appeared to be floating from.
Pausing at the entrance, you took in the sight before you. Harry was gently bobbing his head up and down to the music that played out of an old music player that sat on the counter as he made cookies a few feet away.
“This was your father’s favorite song,” You made your presence known with a small voice.
He startled, eyes whipping up to you frantically before relaxing when he realized it was just you, “Really?” He asked.
You nodded, “He would drive me and mum crazy by blasting it in his room with Sirius. They would sing at the top of their lungs to see who would get yelled at first between the two of them. It was always James though.” A fond smile played at the ends of your lips.
“Sirius didn’t tell me he liked this song.” He said, resuming his previous activities.
“Eh,” You waved it off, “There’s too many memories we have with your father to keep them all straight.”
He laughed lightly at that, “Wanna help with the cookies?”
You smiled and went to stand beside him, listening to your brother’s favorite song.
Well I know that you're in love with him
“Aunt Y/n?” Harry called hesitantly, shuffling into your room.
“What’s up?” You asked, looking up from your book with a raised eyebrow.
The boy's cheeks turned red and he began stuttering, “U-uh, how- how do I tell a girl that- that I l-like her?” He looked like he was about to die from embarrassment.
Immediately, you snapped your book shut and patted the empty spot on your bed next to you for him to sit down, which he did.
“Who is it?” You asked automatically, a small smirk pulling at the ends of your lips.
Quickly, he shot out of his seat, “You know what, this was a bad idea-“
“Hey, hey, no.” You stopped smirking, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I’m just excited, is all. Tell me about her.”
“Her- her name is Cho,” He mumbled, eyes averted to where he was fiddling with his fingers, “And I really like her but I don’t know what to do.”
You smiled softly, wrapping your arm around the boys shoulder and pulling him down onto the bed beside you, “Just tell her how you feel.” You told him, “That’s the best thing you can do. No big gestures or confusing signals, just the honest truth.”
“What if she doesn’t like me back?” He looked up at you as he softly spoke the question.
You squeezed his shoulders lightly, “Then she’s an idiot.” You reassured him.
He laid there for a moment, taking in your words before nodding along slightly, “Thank you,” He mumbled.
You playfully poked his side, “Look at my little boy growing up.” You teased.
Harry scoffed a bit, cheeks tinting red again as he tried to push your hands away, “Shut up.” He protested weakly.
“Hey,” You pressed a gentle kiss on his forehead, “Let me know how it goes. Okay, bud?”
He nodded, standing up and quickly scurrying out of the room to be saved from any further embarrassment.
'Cause I saw you dancing in the gym
“The Triwizard Tournament?” You burst out, leaning back in your chair and running a hand through your hair, “What kind of bullshit is that?”
Harry grimaced, “I kinda don’t have a choice in it, Aunt Y/n.”
You rubbed two hands down your face before looking down at your nephew through the floo network, “I know, but why does it always have to be you?”
“Because I'm special?” He weakly joked.
A scoff escaped your lips, “Yeah, that’s special alright… Just- just promise me that you’re gonna be careful.”
“Of course I will,” He reassured you before shaking his head and laughing to himself, “I feel like this is the only conversation we ever have.”
“That,” You glared pointedly at him, “Is because of your father. The two of you always seem to attract trouble, whether you want to or not.”
You both kicked off your shoes
“He-he was killed right-right in front of me-“ Harry sobbed into your arms as you gently rocked him back and forth, tears of your own sitting in your eyes.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” You kept mumbling over and over again into his hair, where you had buried your face.
He didn’t deserve this. He didn’t deserve any of the shit that happened to him or anything that he was forced to live through. And of course, the Triwizard Tournament just had to be added to that list, and Voldemort was really back this time.
“Cedric is gone,” He choked out, hands gripping onto your arms tightly- desperately- as if they were a lifeline for him.
“I know, I know,” You blinked and tears slipped down your face, “I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry.”
Then I dig those rhythm and blues
“We’re getting the Order back together,” Sirius informed you, leaning back in his chair with a small grin, “So I suppose I’m here to recruit you.”
You scoffed, crossing your arms over your chest, “Because the last Order ended so well.” You shot out sarcastically.
The man’s smile faltered, “It’ll be different this time.”
For some reason, those words only made you angrier, and you harshly pushed back your chair and stood up, pointing accusingly at him with a glare , “In what sense?” You hissed, “In the sense that I don’t have a brother to lose anymore? In the sense that it’s just another war?”
He shook his head from side to side sadly, clearly trying not to take your words to heart, “In the sense that you have Harry to think about and look after this time.”
That made you freeze, just like he knew it would, and you dropped back down into your seat, “Shit,” You cursed softly, running a hand through your hair.
“We will win this time,” He told you confidently, reaching out and squeezing your hand, “We’ll avenge James, Lily, and everyone else that we lost the first time around.”
Hesitantly, you began nodding, “Fine, I’m in.”
I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck
“What the hell were you thinking?” You shouted over the chaos, eyes panickingly sweeping over Harry for any sign of pain, your hands tightly gripping his shoulders.
All around you, Order members and Death Eaters shot curses at one another with no sign of slowing.
“I- I thought he had you and Sirius,” The boy quickly explained, “I couldn’t reach either of you and it was driving me crazy, I couldn’t just sit by and do nothing.”
“Why would Voldemort have brought us to the Ministry?” You hissed at his idiocy before sighing heavily and stepping back slightly, “Okay, okay, I would’ve done the same. I’m sorry for getting mad.”
Tears began to fill his eyes, “I’m sorry for coming here.”
“Hey, hey,” You rushed to comfort him, “It’s not your fault.”
“Y/n!” Sirius called with a grunt from nearby, narrowly blocking a curse thrown his way, “I hate to break up your little Potter reunion, but I could use some help over here!”
With one last smile at Harry, you tightened your grip on your wand and took off in Sirius’s direction, the sound of footsteps behind you letting you know that he had followed you.
Quickly, you threw a stunning curse towards Sirius opponent, sending him flying back into a nearby wall.
“It’s just like old times!” Only Sirius could grin that wildly despite the circumstances.
You scoffed playfully as Harry joined the two of you, both blocking two separate curses in sync, “If this were like old times, then you’d be owing me a drink for saving you!” You teased.
For a split second, he diverted his attention away from the task at hand to smile wider at you, “Maybe I’ll get you one-“
He was cut off by a blinding flash of green being sent directly to his chest.
Both of you froze in sync and you were forced to watch with your feet glued to the ground as he looked between you and Harry with a small smile before his body was pulled into a nearby veil.
Your blood curling scream sounded through the room long before Harry’s did, and you were practically numb to the arm that Remus wrapped around both of you as you each sobbed violently.
You weren’t even able to register the way the man himself was shaking with tears, but he didn’t let up his grip on you and Harry.
How many more times did this have to happen for you to become immune? How many more people did you have to lose before you stopped shedding tears in their names?
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
With a shaky sigh, you dropped the pink carnation bouquet that you had picked out into a vase you and filled with water and let it rest on the counter, where you then let your head fall and rest upon.
“What’s with the flowers?” Harry piped up softly from behind you.
You raised your head to look at the beautiful plants slightly before signing again, “When Sirius first moved in with us, he didn’t know how he could ever thank my parents for what they had done for him. So he started doing little things to say thank you, meaningful things. One of them was picking a bundle of these types flowers that grew nearby the house and bringing them to my mother, getting her new ones every time the others died.”
He nodded in understanding, gazing at the pink leaves, “They’re beautiful.”
A hum of agreement left your lips, “My mother thought so too.”
But I knew I was out of luck
“With your bad luck, I’m surprised you three idiots made it this long.” You informed them with a small, playful scoff.
Hermione smiled a little bit, “Yeah, me too.”
“Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m grateful for it!” Ron squeaked, and frowned a bit as the three of you laughed.
“Auntie, we have to get on the express.” Harry said softly.
You nodded a little bit, pursing your lips, “I know.”
“We’ll be careful,” Hermione promised, and you smiled softly at her while cupping her cheek, rubbing your finger up and down subconsciously.
“Oh, come here.” You quickly pulled all three children into a tight group hug before kissing every one of them on the tops of their heads.
The day the music died
“What happened that night?” You whispered, watching as Harry’s eyes glazed over quickly and his defenses went up.
He shrugged stiffly, and though you felt guilty for asking, you needed to know what really went down at Hogwarts the night that Dumbledore was killed. You needed to know how much Harry would be affected by it and how negative that affect would be.
“Harry,” You begged with a soft whisper, “I just want to help you.”
“I know,” He admitted with a sigh, dropping his head against the back of the couch you both sat on in your living room.
Silence fell over you for a few minutes that consisted of you chewing on your bottom lip nervously before he finally spoke up again, “We need to prepare for a war.”
His words made your head snap over to him in alarm, “Don’t talk like that,”
“It’s true,” He insisted, turning his body to face you, “After everything that’s been happening, we both know it’s coming.”
You shook your head stubbornly, tears filling in your eyes, “Don’t you talk like that,” You warned through gritted teeth, “Your parents died so you would never have to live through a war like we did.”
He sighed, reaching over and wrapping his arms around you, “I know,” He whispered into your hair as you leaned your head against his chest, “But it’s true. And I’d rather fight and defend others than not and watch them die.”
You squeezed your eyes shut, “But you're just kid.”
“I know.”
“It’s not fair.”
“…I know.”
“Please reconsider this, Harry.” You turned so you were staring up at him with wide eyes, “I know that I’m not your parent, but please, don’t go through with this. This isn’t what they would want for you.”
“Would they prefer I stand by and do nothing?” You fell silent, “They fought in the first war, and if they were still alive, they would fight in this one in a heartbeat… you know I’m right.”
You dropped your head in defeat, because you did know that he was right.
“Then I’m fighting with you,” You sat up.
He was quick to shake his head, “I don’t want you getting hurt-“
“You forget that I’m the adult here, Harry.” You reminded him sternly, “And if I can’t stop you from doing this, then you can’t stop me either.”
Slowly, he nodded, “Okay… okay… We’ll do this together.”
I started singing bye-bye, Miss American Pie
You gripped your wand tightly as your eyes scanned the forest back and forth, you quickly glanced behind you at the sound of leaves crunching.
“Under different circumstances,” You spoke as Harry sat beside you, “This place would be beautiful.”
He hummed in agreement, looking around as well.
The tent that Ron and Hermoine were in rested a few yards back, where they hopefully were sleeping off the craziness of the day.
“Your mother would kill me if she knew I wasn’t sending you to school this year,” You laughed softly at your own words.
Harry chuckled beside you, kicking at the ground a little bit when his smile faded, “I wish I didn’t have to drag you all into this.” His face was twisted up with guilt.
“Hey,” You grabbed onto his hand and shook it slightly, “This was our choice, we all knew what we were getting into. But we all love you, so it’s gonna be worth it.”
“What if one of us doesn’t make it?” He wondered out loud, voice barely above a whisper.
All at once, your body stiffened, “Don’t talk like that.”
“It’s true though!” He cried, “What if Ron, Hermione, or-or y-you die because I dragged you into this?”
“And what if we hadn’t come along?” You rounded on him, “What then? Would it have been you that died?” You asked furiously, “I would die in a heartbeat to keep you safe- all of you.”
He paled at your words, looking slightly nauseated, “You can’t die.” He whispered.
“Then we’re going to drop this discussion.” You determined, “And neither of us are going to think about it again. Got it?”
He nodded numbly and you sighed, “Come ‘ere,” You muttered, wrapping your arm around him.
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
The snow fell gently across the town that you had once viewed as beautiful. That is, until your brother and sister in law moved into a certain quaint house and your entire life was flipped upside down.
You swallowed harshly, fighting with every bone in your body not to turn around and sprint in the other direction with every step forward that you took.
Hermione and Ron had gone off to a small coffee shop, muttering about giving you and Harry some space.
The boy had his arm tightly locked around yours and he seemed to be struggling just as much as you were, both of you with your feet frozen right in front of the cemetery.
“I haven’t visited this place,” You admitted with a guilty whisper, “Not once. I didn’t even show up to the funeral. I couldn’t.”
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Harry asked you hesitantly, eyeing you sideways.
You forced a tight smile on your face and gave him one nod of confirmation, “It’s about time I said goodbye for real.” Before adding, “Both of us.”
With that, arm in arm, you slowly made your way past the gravestones until you came upon two side by side with the names of Lily and James Potter printed across them.
You inhaled sharply at the sight of it, blinking away tears, knowing that they would freeze instantly on your face if you let them loose.
Slowly, Harry took out his wand and muttered a small spell that Hermione no doubt taught him, and a bundle of pink carnations appeared on each of their graves.
A watery laugh left your lips at his actions, causing a small smile to pull at the ends of his own lips, “They’re beautiful, Harry.”
He rested his head against the top of yours and you each silently said your own goodbyes to the ones that you lost.
Them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
“Look! They’re here! They’re here!” Students all around you cheered, and you couldn’t help but feel a slight spark of happiness at the looks of hope and joy on their faces.
When you and the children had returned to Hogwarts to finish what had been started, you hadn’t expected all of these students to begin cheering your names as they finally got their first sign of hope in seemingly months.
As your eyes scanned through the sea of kids, you knew that you couldn’t let them down. They had all lost so much, being forced to go through what you and your peers had back then in some ways, and you would be damned if you let them suffer any longer.
Glancing over at Harry, you knew instantly that he had the same thoughts.
Singing, "This'll be the day that I die"
“No!” You screamed so loud that it felt like your throat was ripping, but you could barely feel it over the pain in your heart, “No! No! No!”
Molly let out a sob, quickly wrapping her arms around you to stop you from running forward towards the Death Eaters at the sight of Harry’s limp body in Hagrid’s arms.
“Harry Potter is dead!” Voldemort announced with a malicious grin, thoroughly enjoying watching as your entire world came crashing down right on top of you, suffocating your lungs.
It felt as though he held your heart in his disgusting hands and was squeezing it in an agonizingly painful way.
Arthur had to make his way over and wrap an arm around you as well, your sheer strength from anger and denial making it impossibly difficult for Molly to hold you alone.
You couldn’t even hear the rest of what The Dark Lord had to say over your hopeless, despair-filled cry’s that raked through your entire body violently.
Harry was the only thing that had kept you going after all these years, after what happened. And with him being gone now, you knew that you wouldn’t be able to go on. Not without him.
Then, without warning, Harry’s body rolled out of Hagrid's hold and he jumped up, locking eyes with you briefly before picking up his wand and pointing it at Voldemort.
You gasped, a large amount of air filling into your lungs for the first time since thinking he was dead, to much in a state of shock to even register the chaos that erupted all around you as everyone sprang into action, firing spell after spell at the opposing side.
When you finally snapped out of it though, you sprang forward and fired a deadly curse towards Voldemort, years of rage and heart brokenness behind it for everyone and everything you lost at his hand.
He barely even glanced at you as he deflected it and sent a light of green straight into your chest.
This will be the day that I die
It was over. The only war was finally over. And for the first time in weeks, Harry felt himself smile as he desperately looked around for you. Despite all the two of you had gone through, at least you would be able to enjoy the new world- one rid of Voldemort- together. A world that was finally safe.
His eyebrows furrowed and he paused in his steps when he caught sight of Hermione, Ron, Molly, and Arthur all standing in a circle in the middle of a hallway, every one of them crying.
He moved forward to see what was the matter, “What is it? What’s wrong-“
Harry cut himself short and he felt all the air get knocked out of his lungs, sending him falling to his knees, “A-auntie?” He stuttered out, mouth running dry as he looked down at your limp form on the ground.
Your lips were parted slightly and your eyes were wide open, staring unseeingly at a nearby pile of rubble.
Everyone’s heads snapped over to him and Molly fell down beside him, wrapping her arms around the boy, “Oh, Harry-“
He immediately shrugged off her hands, instead frowning slightly and beginning to shake your shoulders, “Auntie? Aunt Y/n, wake up.”
All anyone could do was just stand there and watch silently with tears streaming down their faces.
“No,” He choked out when you didn’t stir, “No, wake up. Please, please wake up,” He begged through sobs, “We’re free, we’re finally free. Wake up!”
Nobody left his side, not for a single second of the hour he sat there, screaming- pleading- begging- you to wake up until his throat was raw and scratchy and he fell backwards on his heels.
“All she ever wanted was what was best for me.” The boy whispered, “That's all she ever wanted.”
“Then let’s give her that,” Molly spoke softly, hugging him again, “Honor her by living your life to the fullest. She wanted your happiness more than anything in this world.”
Harry looked down at you once more, the woman that had taken him in on her own free will in order to honor her brother and lost friends. The woman who raised him and taught him everything he knew. The woman who gave him everything. The woman who sacrificed herself so that he could keep living his life.

I’M PROUD OF YOU ; HERMIONE GRANGER
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⇢ you reunite with your sister, hermione granger, after being apart while she searched for the horcruxes and you stayed at hogwarts
masterlist
genre: platonic, a bit of angst, a bit of fluff
word count: 940
warnings: mentions of torture, cuts, bruises and scars
request: “Hi, can I request a platonic hermione Imagine that R is her younger sibling who stayed at Hogwarts the whole Hermione went looking for the Horcruxes and Hermione sees how much R has grown and is proud of them and just a fluffy reunite of them.”
yes! i had trouble keeping it fluffy because staying at hogwarts wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, and i wanted to make sure that was clear. but i did my best, and you can let me know if you want a rewrite, because i’m happy to make some changes if you want that
It had been ages since I’d last seen Hermione, I’d honestly lost track of time. It could’ve been months or weeks and I wouldn’t have known the difference.
Hogwarts was not the home that it used to be. It was dark and cold and I desperately wanted to leave and find my sister, but I knew it was hopeless. She could’ve been anywhere in the world—surely the Horcruxes she was betting her life on wouldn’t be in plain sight. They were scattered across the globe, and it left Hermione no choice but to leave with nothing but the small bag she packed, and her two closest friends.
Leaving Hermione wasn’t exactly my choice, or hers. It was so sudden, and I didn’t even get to say goodbye. When she left, I had been at a friend’s house, a muggle friend’s house, knowing I wouldn’t see them for nearly a year whilst at Hogwarts. I don’t think my sister even realized that she would be forced into leaving so soon, because when I came home, I found the house lacking her presence, and memory.
My parents had no idea who she was, and I knew immediately that they had been Obliviated. Through the haze of my own mind, I remembered how much I cried that night.
Now, as I sat in a once open room, with other students surrounding me—in sleeping bags, on hammocks, on nothing but the cold floor—I realized how lonely I felt. It wasn’t an uncommon feeling anymore.
It was hard to feel happy when Hogwarts was so ruined, and void of life.
The sounds of clicks and creaks hit my ears, and I frowned as I turned my head, searching for the source. My eyes quickly landed on Neville, who had finally returned through the painting high up on the wall.
It was the only way out of Hogwarts now, but I’d never gone through myself.
“Hey,” Neville called out to the group below. There was a gleam in his eyes, which had been bruised from refusing to use the Cruciatus curse on first years. The punishments in Hogwarts had also gotten worse this year. “Listen up, you lot. I brought you a surprise.”
“No more of Aberforth's cook's gonna help.” Seamus scoffed, “be a surprise if we can digest it.”
Neville smirked, before stepping to the side. There, I could see Harry in the darkness of the tunnel. My heart skipped a beat. I was glad to see Harry, I really, truly was. But if Harry was here…
The sounds of the other students getting to their feet and cheering was muffled to me. I slowly stood, trying to see past The Boy Who Lived.
Eyes just like my own met mine, and I instantly felt the relief of knowing she was safe, and here with me.
I waited impatiently as Harry stepped down the ladder, before Hermione did the same. The second her feet hit the floor, I was running to her.
“Mione!” I cried, wrapping my arms around her. We were two years apart, her being the oldest out of us both, but I had always been so similar to her that it never felt like she had gone around the sun twice more than I had.
Hermione hugged me tightly, muttering things to both herself and me. Soft things, like how she was here and how everything was better. She never told me that I was safe—because no one was—which I was glad about. Hermione would never lie to me.
We were always honest with each other.
“It’s been so long.” I didn’t feel embarrassed about the tears I shed, or how I wept loudly through all the cheers and excitement. I was so lucky that she was alive, and I suppose, she was lucky that I was too.
“I know.” She said softly. Neither of us brought up our troubles. I didn’t mention the torture I had been put through, and she didn’t mention the horrors of searching for the Horcruxes. “It’ll be okay.”
She pulled away from the hug and held me at arms length. She put her hands on my face and smiled with tears in her eyes. “I am so proud of you.” She said.
I nearly collapsed into a puddle of tears right then and there. I smiled, my eyes watering and my chin quivering. I was afraid that if I said anything else I would sob, but I wanted to tell her so many things.
I was proud of her, too. She’d been so brave, going out there to help not only herself, but everyone else, as well. She was selfless and brilliant and everything I wished I was. To me, she was perfect.
Hermione smiled like she understood, because she always did. She knew me best.
She hugged me once more. “You’ve grown so much.” She muttered, like she was coming to that realization. She’d missed a lot, even if it hadn’t even been a year. I had grown a lot mentally, and she had too.
“So have you.” I said softly, my voice wavering the littlest bit.
She pulled away to examine me more closely. She scanned her eyes over my face and frowned whenever she noticed a small cut or a bruise or a flaw in my once perfect skin. She rubbed her thumb over a new scar above my eyebrow, and sighed.
“I won’t leave again.” She said softly. “You have me now.”
I squeezed my eyes shut, tears falling down my face as I pulled her into one last hug.
I am so proud of you. You’re so, so brave.

Hi can I request a Harry Potter one shot please where r is hermiones sibling and gets hurt in the battle of hogwarts and hermione finds out?
Yay first hermione request!
Hermione granger x sibling reader
The only one left
Hermione ran through the crowds of students and parents professors trying to protect the hogwarts walls from death eaters.
Her ears buzzed from the different explosive sounds from each corner, spell shouted and people falling to the ground.
"Hermione! Come quick it’s your sibling!"
The blood in her body all rushed in panic, the voices become uncomfortably louder than she can bare and ran towards where a student pointed.
Your laid on the ground holding your bleeding side and hidden slightly from view, hermione screamed and went on her knees to your side "What happened?!"
"Wasn’t…fast enough, it’s not deep but…I don’t think I’m of use now"
Hermione moved your hand away from the wound, her eyes were watery and her hands shaking as she focused on stitching some of the damage, she wasn’t a medical professional but being friends with two dumbass that were accident prone it came in handy to know some healing spells.
"You can’t stay here they’ll get you too-"
"No! I can’t let you go, don’t be daft! You’re all I have left…mum and dad already forget about us" She cried, she lowered her wand and helped you up.
You groaned and walked as fast as you could with your sister’s support.
"I’ll take you somewhere safe, I have to I-"
"Calm down! I’m gonna be ok don’t panic, I’m not going anywhere" you forced a grin on your face, it was all you could do to comfort your sister.
Her breathing was fast and you could swear she would pass out before taking you somewhere safe.
But she did it, she got you to safety and without harm, madam pomfrey rushed over to take care of you while your sister refused a calming drought and slide her back on the wall until her behind touched the ground.
"Your sister is one brilliant witch, this could’ve been worst"
Hermione sighed closing her eyes and rubbing her eyes.
You bite your tongue and kept an eye on your sister, after you were good to go you scooted near her and took her hand away from her face "And you call me dramatic, I’m ok, we’ll get over this and then we will find mum and dad…I don’t know how but we will, together, yeah?"
She sniffed and nodded her head slowly "The chances are low…I don’t want to lose you too"
"You won’t, I’m tougher than I look sissy"
She sighed and looked up at the ceiling "I should’ve erased your memory too"
You laughed "Nah you can’t live without me"
A smile tugged on her lips "Let’s promise to make it out in one piece, deal?"
"Deal" Then you hugged.

Tumblr media
Hermione Granger was coined the smartest witch of her age for many reasons. Although brave and courageous at heart, she was wise and ambitious to the very marrow of her bones. It's how she noticed your changing affections for Mattheo Riddle, perhaps even before you did.
It started no earlier than October, when you no longer complained about your desk partner in Ancient Runes; when you'd meet up with her after the tutor sessions with bright eyes and a genuine smile, which she had not seen since the weeks leading up to the Department of Mysteries battle last summer. She knew what Riddle was like, but seeing the spark reignite in your soul began to change her perspective of him. Maybe he was inherently good after all.
When Harry told her and Ron what he had discovered about the two of you, she wasn't even a little surprised, but she was surprised that Ginny, too, was not in the least bit affected by the revelation. She watched in forlorn silence as Harry singlehandedly cut you off from them, despite everything you had done for him; everything you'd sacrificed. She had spent many nights berating him in the common room with tears in her eyes.
You were her very first friend at Hogwarts. You'd met on platform nine and three quarters in your first year and exclaimed that you absolutely adored the celebrity on the cover of the magazine she happened to be browsing through. Hermione had thought you were a muggleborn like her and was disappointed when you said you weren't. But she was elated to hear that your mother was just like her. You spent the entire trainride chatting about muggle affairs and your favourite books, and had both gotten up to help Neville find his toad which is how you met Ron and Harry.
You were the person she turned to when Ron first took to being a horrid nuisance to her. You were the person she went to for help finding out about Nicholas Flemmel and the Philosopher's stone. You were the person who wrote double the amount of notes in second year, while she was petrified, just so that she could have knowledge of all the things she'd missed out on in her absence. You were the one to subject yourself to Bellatrix Lestrange's cruciatus curse so that someone could help Harry fight of half a dozen Death Eaters by the arch in the strange room in the Department of Mysteries.
You were her sister and her best friend.
And she felt completely undeserving of all those years of sisterhood as she watched you traipse around the castle like a ghost for days, after the argument with Ron transpired outside the Hospital Wing.
She had slapped him so hard when they'd gotten far enough away from the sounds of your heart wrenching sobs. The sound had echoed so loudly through each of their ears, and she did not care about how Ginny had gasped in shock horror at her action. Or the way Harry flinched as Ron cradled his reddening cheek. It was well and truly deserved.
She did not speak to Harry or Ron for two weeks. Now she only offered vague, one-worded answers to their incessant questions. They acted as if they had done nothing wrong. It infuriated her.
Hermione wanted to find you and apologise profusely. As did Ginny. But each time they got the nerve to find you, you were surrounded by a guard of snakes. The Slytherin boys were extremely protective of you and it seemed that Mattheo no longer cared for secrecy; openly showing that you were his for all the world to see, though subtly enough that only those with keen eyes saw. Hermione saw.
You looked happier with them than you had ever been with any of your old friends. Hermione often wondered if you were meant to find them; wondered if she, Ron and Harry had been holding you back from your true potential.
She admired you. She loved you. She had to make this right.
She cornered you after an Ancient Runes lesson. A ballsy move, considering Mattheo, Theo and Pansy formed a protective wall of imposing doom behind you, like fallen angels promising retribution. She steeled her gaze, looked between all three of them, shot the true intentions of why she was doing this to their minds – she knew they were digging through her thoughts by the pin pricks in the back of her head. But not from you, never from you, although she would never hate you if you did.
"What do you want, Granger?" It's Pansy who speaks up first, her voice dark and promising unspeakable terror, if Hermione so much as said one thing out of line. She watches as you reach for the hand that softly brushes against your own and grip it with all your might; Mattheo's hand.
"I wanted to speak to you." she says directly to you. "Alone, if possible."
She can see the way Mattheo is about to rebute this.
"If not that's completely fine." its rushed and laced with desperation and you can see the emotions clouding your ex-best friend's face. The guilt and the longing. You want to hear her out.
You squeeze Mattheo's hand once before letting go and speaking to them all, without opening your mouth.
I want to hear what she has to say. You guys go ahead, I'll find you later.
Pansy's look of uncertainty is remedied by your insistence that you'd be fine, and Theo is a little reluctant but follows behind her. Mattheo is a silent and imposing statue of simmering rage at your side. And by the uncomfortable look on Hermione's face, you know he's in her head.
If she comes back crying, believe me when I say that you will regret it Granger. And if this is a farce to satisfy Potter's cruelty, he will pay for it too.
"Harry doesn't know I'm here. Neither does Ron. Ginny should be outside, she wants to talk too. I-if that's alright?"
"It's fine." your voice is softer than she's ever heard. Like you're wholly unsure if you can trust her word. It's a foreign and devastating feeling. And she hates it.
Mattheo's hand brushes your's before he reaches up and squeezes your waist affectionately, departing after Theo and Pansy moments later.
The classroom is blissfully empty. Now it's just you and Hermione, alone. The silence is tense and awkward as you each wait for Ginny to walk through the door.
She arrives moments after Mattheo's departure, steps slow and hesitant. But as she sees the two of you she releases a heavy sigh of relief and launches herself at you.
She's hugging you so tightly. Squeezing and squeezing until your arms, which are limp at your sides, instinctively wrap around her frame. She's mumbling apologies into the neck of your blue and bronze lined robe, body racking with subtle sobs, that you mirror as you melt into her embrace. Hermione joins you both after a moment and the three of you sink to the floor, twin tears streaking down your faces, apologies and words of love and hope echoing off the walls of the classroom.
Eventually the hug ends and the three of you are sat in a small circle between the desks, voices low and quiet as you listen to what the other has to say, all the while, Mattheo is a welcome presence in your mind, offering infinite reassurances as your heart races in your chest.
Hermione tells you how Harry and Ron seem like totally different people now. How she slapped Ron and did not utter a singular word to Harry until he apologised to her.
"Look I'm sorry, alright." he said one evening in the common room as she was researching for an upcoming essay. "Please talk to me, Mione."
"I'm not the one you should be apologising to." she mutters, not taking her eye off the words on the page. Harry scoffs as he sits down. "If you're going to bad mouth my best friend then go and find Ron. I don't want to hear what you have to say."
He rolls his eyes before he stands up and walks away.
Ginny feels terrible. She hadn't known it was you and Mattheo in the corridor until she heard his distinct low and raspy voice, too late. She wasn't quick enough in deterring Harry away from the space and she regrets it immensely. And the look on your face after Ron had shouted at you plays repetitively on her mind at all hours of the day.
Guilt errodes at your souls and all three of you feel the weight of it like you're being held beneath the surface of a very deep lake.
When the two of them finish explaining themselves, you inhale harshly before letting out a calming breathe.
"I can't say that your actions didn't hurt. Because then I'd be lying." you say, voice clouded in emotion. "I have been outcasted by everyone I thought I could call a friend. Even my own housemates don't speak to me. You didn't do anything to stop that, which really hurts."
There's a lump in your throat that continues to strain with every word you utter, eyes burn with the onslaught of more salty tears.
"I know that you don't trust them. And you have every reason not to. I understand that. But they have been here for me, when the two of you weren't. They've shown me what it means to be surrounded by kindness and safety and I love them all equally, no matter what has been said and done in the past. Yes they work for you-know-who. But they had no choice. You know who their families are, hell we fought most of them in June. They've been forced into this and I just want to get them out."
Ginny reaches over to squeeze your hand. You let her.
"I-" she pauses and looks at Hermione, who reaches over for your other hand. "We want to help you. In any way we can. We'll help you appeal to Dumbledore-"
"He already refused my plea for help." you say with a grimace.
Hermione gapes. "B-but he always says that-"
"-Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask." you say at the same time as she does. "Yes he said as much, and then followed with saying that they don't deserve to be helped."
"That's completely unfair." Ginny mutters. "If you were asking for anyone else he'd help in a heartbeat."
Hermione mumbles her agreement, face painted in complete disbelief at your revelation. She always believed that Dumbledore was a good and just man, but maybe she was wrong.
"We'll appeal to the Order." Ginny says. "Tonks' mum was in you-know-who's clutches when she went to the Order for help. And now she's effectively protected for life."
It's a good idea. It may work. But you have your doubts. The current members of the Order held their own prejudices, much like Voldemort's Death Eaters did.
"Tell your friends about the idea. Tell them that we'll try." Hermione says earnestly. "Nothing will ever justify our behaviour towards you, but let us make it right. Please. It's the least we can do for how badly we treated you."
What are they saying right now? Mattheo asks you, voice painted with curiousity.
They're going to help me keep you all safe.
And how, pray tell, will they achieve that? Mattheo sounds like he adamantly does not believe your words.
They have a way but I'm honestly not getting my hopes up until its more of a solid plan.
Okay, I trust you. How do you feel, love? His voice is a soft caress to all the corners of your mind. It's like he can feel the anxiety rolling off of you in waves.
I've got mixed feelings. I want to believe that they truely do mean what they're saying, but actions speak louder than words.
Even though you say that, Mattheo already knows that you'll forgive them. He may not agree with it because, in his opinion, they do not deserve your forgiveness, but he understands that you'd been akin to sisters for years before his family welcomed you into their circle with open arms. Of course you'd forgive them eventually; it doesn't mean that any of your found family would, though.
Hermione and Ginny watch as your eyes glaze over. It's obvious that you're talking mind to mind with Mattheo by the way your face heats with a blush and your face is alight with a soft, yet dazzling smile.
The three of you had once gossiped, in the cosy confines of the younger girl's bedroom, that Ginny's oldest twin brother was the perfect guy for you, but judging by your expression, they knew it then and there......Mattheo Riddle was your soulmate and you were completely and irrevocably in love with him.
An hour later, the three of you were sat under the shade of a willow tree that overlooked one of the beaches separating the Black Lake from the main courtyard.
It was as if there was never a blip in your friendship. Like old times. It felt normal. But there was an underlying feeling that everything was different at the same time. And the three of you had wordlessly accepted that fact.
"He needs to get rid of that stupid book." Hermione mutters dismally as you watch Harry and Ron stroll by, not sparing any of you a glance as they stare down at the battered Potions book in the former's hand.
"Still jealous that he's gotten better at potions than you? You're not top of the class anymore." You tease and she throws you a playful glare.
"Nevermind that. It's insidious." she says. "Just the other day he was asking if I'd heard of some kind of spell that was, quote on quote: 'for enemies'. It's completely ridiculous."
"I can't say that I disagree with you Mione." Ginny says grimly. "I overheard him telling Ron that he really wanted to test it out."
She shivers as if a blanket of cold was just thrust upon her. You're left bewildered. Harry seemed like a wholly different person and you didn't know what to make of it.
~∞~
A week later, you'd come to terms with the new state of your friendship with Hermione and Ginny; your Slytherin friends were weary at first when you told them of their plan to involve the Order, but it was Theo and Blaise who agreed tentatively to hear them out.
You tried to build a bridge between your two opposing groups, and it worked somewhat: Hermione had bonded well with Theo and Ginny found a kinship in Pansy's fierce spirit as well as Enzo's witty humour. Even Luna, who had accompanied Ginny one day to see you, had found solace in Blaise's quiet and calm nature.
Draco was the most alert by your insistence of them all speaking – he was weary that Hermione did not like nor trust him and she was uneasy around the boy who had called her unsavoury names for years. But even Hermione could see how worn down and tired Draco looked, and cut him some slack.
After another drooling day of school, you were lying in Mattheo's bed, clad in nothing but one of his dark tshirts as you lied against his chest, breathing in his alluring scent of cedar, musk and smoke. After completing your homework together, the two of you had nothing better to do than laze about, sharing languid kisses and slow, soft sex.
You were talking quietly to one another, sweet giggles and deep chuckles passing between you as you bathed in the serenity of each others' presence. Mattheo's hand was tracing circles against the back of your thighs, causing you to shift away with a breathy laugh.
"That tickles. Stop it." you say, mirth shining in your eyes as you playfully glare at him as his fingers dance across your soft, sensitive skin.
"Or what?" he challenges with a smirk that has you sitting up against his stomach, the ridges of his abs brushing sensually against your aching core.
Safe to say, your clothes ended up on the floor once more and the room was once again filled with your combined sensual moans and whines.
Later, you're cuddled against him again, tired and spent as you allow sleep to overtake you. But it never comes. Enzo and Ginny burst through the door in a panicked flurry.
"Ever heard of knocking, Berkshire?" Mattheo snaps, but at the look of alarm painting his friend's face, he sits up in rapt attention.
"What is it, Enzo?" he asks, using one hand to pull the duvet over your bodies to shield you from their averting gazes.
"It's Harry and- and Malfoy." Ginny says, breathlessly as if they'd run here. "They're dueling in one of the second floor bathrooms."
That statement has the two of you scrambling for your clothes as Enzo and Ginny leave to wait outside the door.
Uniforms shoved back on in a hurry, rumpled and creased from your earlier activities, the two of you follow behind the panicking pair as they lead you to Moaning Myrtle's floor. You hear the duel before you see it. Draco and Harry are throwing insults and curses back and forth in rapid fire blows. You would be mesmerised by the feeling of all the power that sings to you, if you weren't so worried and horror stricken at what you'd stumbled into.
Upon entering the scene you can't help but gape at the destruction. The porcelain sinks lining the marbled walls are cracked and broken, crumbling to the floor; pipes bursting with a never ending onslaught of spraying water that washes across the floor like tempered glass.
Your arrival distracts Draco momentarily as he turns towards the four of you, weariness clouding his light grey eyes. It's all the time he needs for Harry to surprise all of you with his menacing words as he casts the final spell, signifying the end of the harrowing duel.
"Sectum-sempra!" he shouts and Draco releases a pained yelp before falling to the floor as Ginny gasps in horror. Blood soaks the water around him, spreading out like slick oil against it as he writhes in pain. Slashes of blood saturate his white shirt, as if a knife had been hacked against his skin.
The room is a flurry of activity as Ginny starts shouting at Harry as Enzo and Mattheo pull out their wands defensively. But you pay them no mind, immediately going to Draco's side, trying your best to comfort him as you rip open his shirt to see the damage that Harry had caused.
His torso is caked in blood, gashes of skin torn open by the force of the spell. He's lying in a pool of it, the volume increasing with each passing second. Draco was dying. Slowly and painfully.
Moaning Myrtle appeared from the pipes screaming "MURDER IN THE BATHROOM!" repeatedly as you worked tirelessly, which was not helping the onslaught of overwhelming emotions that were bubbling to the surface.
It's okay. You're okay. You need to stay awake Draco. Please stay awake. You reassure him as you mumble a series of spells. He begins writhing more.
Episkey doesn't work.
Ferula fails to expell bandages large enough to cover the gaping holes in his chest.
Basic wound sealing spells are cast in vain.
You have tried everything you can think of. But nothing is working. Tears of frustration begin to slide down your cheeks.
"What's taking you so long?" Enzo shouts at you, drawing your attention away from Draco. Your breathing is panicked and uncertain and Mattheo tilts his head towards Enzo, a silent threat to watch his tone as he sees the slick flow of tears running down your face.
"I don't- nothing is working." you say breathelessly. "I don't know what to do."
Ginny looks horrified. As do Mattheo and Enzo. Harry only looks intrigued, no trace of guilt paints his face. You narrow your eyes at him.
"It's from that book, isn't it?" you accuse and he flinches at your icy tone. "The Half Blood Prince wouldn't be stupid enough to not know a counter curse. What. Is. It?"
He doesn't answer you fast enough for Mattheo's liking. Despite not understanding what you're talking about, he turns to the bespectacled boy with barely contained rage as he points his wand in the direction of the 'Chosen One'.
"Answer her, Potter!" he snarls and Harry snaps his head in Mattheo's direction, shooting him a glare until Ginny screams at him to answer you.
"Vulnera Sanentur." he says reluctantly, as if he was waiting to see how long the effects of the spell he cast would take place. As if he was waiting for Death to sink it's claws into Draco's soul.
Immediately you work on each of the gashes on Draco's torso and they begin to heal over for the most part, but he's still loosing too much blood.
"Someone needs to help me seal his wounds properly. I can't do it by myself." you say desperately and Enzo is immediately at your side, both of you mumbling the spell and casting your wands over the various wounds that litter Draco's pallid skin. Meanwhile Mattheo and Ginny stare at Harry as if he'd grown two heads, sharing a knowing look of understanding that Harry does not miss, nor does he like. He grits his teeth at his enemy and the girl he's infatuated by as Ginny, not so subtly, inches closer to Mattheo's side. Mattheo's eyes soften at the fear coating the younger girl's cerulean eyes.
No sooner than you'd entered the fray, Professor Snape comes gliding into the room, face livid, and pushes you and Enzo away from Draco's still writhing body. He performs the healing charm with practiced ease, going over each jagged cut, that you failed to heal, with graceful precision. If you weren't so overcome with emotion, you would've put the glaringly obvious pieces together.
The flow of blood eased rapidly and the wounds knotted together intricately as he repeated the spell, tenderly wiping away the blood that coated Draco's face. You knelt close to his side, reaching out to stroke his limp hand, which was alarmingly cold to the touch. You and Enzo were both covered in a mixture of blood and water which soaked through your uniforms, sticking to you like a second skin.
No sooner than he'd arrived, Professor Snape had Draco leaning against your side and was talking softly to the boy, who was barely conscious.
"You must go to the Hospital Wing. There may be some scarring, but if you take dittany immediately we might avoid even that. Come...."
With Enzo's help, he supported Draco across the bathroom, turning at the door to say in a voice of cold fury, "And you, Potter – You will wait here for me."
Harry, at least, had the gall to look ashamed.
You're still kneeling on the floor, staring at your blood soaked hands when Mattheo appears in front of you, taking your hands in his, paying no mind to the blood soaking through his trousers.
"You did good, darling." he says softly, so only you can hear, neither pay attention to how Ginny inches closer to you two, away from Harry's wide eyes. "So good."
"If Snape didn't turn up–" you don't want to finish the sentence, don't even want to think about what could've happened.
"If he didn't end up coming, you and Enzo would have worked tirelessly to seal Draco's wounds to the best of your abilities." he reassures you, having read the emotions as clear as day on your face. "Come on, let's go and get you cleaned up, yeah?"
You allow him to pull you to your feet and you're only reminded of his presence when Harry scoffs.
"Got something to say, Potter?" he snarls as his hand rests against the small of your back, at Harry who glares at Mattheo obstinately.
"He cursed Katie Bell. We all know it. He deserved what he had coming for him. I can't believe she willingly helped him after everything he's done to us. After everything you have done."
He spoke as if you were not standing right in front of him. You barely recognise the boy who you called your best friend for nearly six years. Harry had barely finished his sentence when Mattheo had left your side and launched at him, throwing punches and blows in Harry's face. That's not to say that Harry did not return the favour. Both boys' blood mingled with the softening pink whorls in the water. You and Ginny were screaming at them to stop; they did not acknowledge your pleas. The last time they fought like this was over a year ago.
The conduit around your neck crackles with energy and you fight the urge to break it. Instead you wrap a fist around it almost instinctively and draw out power that surges through the room, separating the two from eachother with little to no effort. They're both panting and glaring at eachother as they fight against the restraint of your power.
"That's enough." you say firmly, voice loud and commanding in the silence, wholly different to its usual cadence. Ginny is staring at you in awe, as Mattheo stares with pride. Harry looks at you with uncontainable fury and fear.
Because you're glowing.
There's a faint indigo aura surrounding your body that pulses with energy as you hold the two boys away from eachother. When Mattheo stops fighting you, you let go of the hold and watch as they slump in their spots on opposite sides of the room, both sporting matching wounds of split lips and bruised eyes.
"What the fuck are you?" Harry mumbles to himself, just as Snape returns to the bathroom. The professor looks at you in barely restrained approval before instructing you, Mattheo and Ginny out of the room. You each go without hesitation, leaving Harry at the mercy of a furious Snape.
~∞~
Parting ways with Ginny at the intersection between your two common rooms, Mattheo lets you guide him towards the Ravenclaw tower, which was closer to the dungeons that were on the opposite side of the castle to where you currently were.
He follows you silently, staring at you as if he can still see the faint glow of the indigo aura that surrounded you. He didn't think you could get any more ethereal. You prove him wrong every single day.
"Do you think Draco will be okay?" you ask quietly as you reach the polished bronze Knocker that conceals the entrance to your estranged common room.
"He's strong. I know he'll be okay." Mattheo reassures you, but he chooses not to tell you that Draco's fate will be far worse if he fails to fix the wardrobe that they'd been working on for the better part of half a year. All their fates would be far worse.
You breath out a relieved sigh in response, just in time for the Eagle to blink preternaturally at the two of you. You laugh softly as Mattheo shivers at the utter human-ness of the brass eagle.
'I can break. I can be clogged. I can be attacked. I can be given. I can be kept. I can be crushed, yet I can be whole at the same time. What am I?'
It only takes you a moment to figure out the riddle and Mattheo sees the exact second that the answer fills your head, even as his stays blank with confusion.
"A heart." You say and he swears that the eagle winks as the door swings open, paving way for the sea of eyes that stare at the two of you in horror.
You realise then that your still covered, practically head to toe, in Draco's blood, skirt and knee high white socks soaked through from the water, stained a light pink. Shaking yourself out of your haze, you grip Mattheo's hand and drag him towards the staircase leading to the girls' dormitories, ignoring the eyes that are burning holes into your skin as you retreat.
You wandlessly unlock the door that leads into your dorm room and watch as Mattheo stares around in awe.
"I've never been in here before." he says quietly and you turn to him with furrowed brows.
"Yes you have. Haven't you?"
It dawns on you then, that in all the months you'd known him, you had never consciously invited him into your bedroom. It had always been his common room; his dormitory or the Room of Requirement. Never your's.
"No. I haven't." he responds, laughing at the surprise that appears on your face as he casts his surveying eyes around your room. "It's very you."
"Thankyou?" you respond questioningly which causes him to laugh more, then wince as the movement of his laughter tugs at the cut that splits his lip.
Eyes full of concern you direct him to your bed and push him down by his broad shoulders to sit, ignoring the way his brows wiggle suggestively while you find a first aid kit to remedy his injuries.
He's still smirking when you return from the bathroom, green box in hand, which you place by his side as he guides you to stand between his parted thighs. The two of you bask in the content silence as you use a damp flannel to wipe away the dried blood that has begun to crust over his soft skin, mumbled apologies escaping your lips whenever he hisses if you accidentally catch one of his cuts with the fabric.
"You could easily wish these away with a bit of magic, you know. It's a thousand times faster." he says, hands caressing the backs of yours thighs as he looks up at you, but he makes no move to stop you or push you away.
"That feels uncaring." you mumble in response as you use a bit of rubbing alcohol against the cut on his lip. "Sorry." you say as he winces.
"It's alright, love." he mumbles, leaning his head into your stomach once you finished. "Potter can really throw a punch."
Your laughter comes out as a scoff. "Maybe. But you should've seen the state you left him in."
He smirks against the damp fabric of your shirt and you swat at his curly head when you practically feel his ego inflating.
"I did give him a good beating, didn't I?"
"You're so vexingly arrogant." you say with a soft laugh that has him leaning out of your stomach to stare at you again, a mischievous glint reflecting in his honey brown eyes.
"It's one of the many attributes of mine that you fell for though, isn't it Princess." he says with so much self assurance that you just have to roll your eyes, but it's difficult to hide your smile.
"Shut up." you reply as his arms reach up to wrap around your middle, bringing you into his embrace, but he cringes away at the feel of your still wet clothes.
"Let's get you out of these yeah? You're practically shivering." he says as he untucks your shirt from your skirt, affection and...and love overtaking his soft eyes as he stares up at you, quietly stripping you of your ruined clothes that he throws into a pile at the foot of your bed.
~∞~
"Thank you, Théo." you say quietly, almost in a whisper, after you're both fresh and clean from a shower, all wounds healed over with a bit of his magic.
"What for?" he asks you, just as softly, hand reaching up to brush a loose wisp of hair that had fallen into your face.
You don't answer him, not verbally at least, instead pressing a slow kiss to his mouth that he happily reciprocates, leaning in until he's hovering over you, trapping your body below his.
For protecting me. For defending me. For giving Ginny stability, despite how you feel towards her. I saw the way she gravitated towards you. Just...thank you. Your words have his mouth working harder against your's, causing a moan to escape you as his tongue licks against the seam of your lips, which part eagerly for him.
Always, sweet girl. I will always defend you and those of your friends who are worthy of defending. He replies before detaching his lips from your's, with retraint.
"Weasley could have easily let Enzo find us himself, could've even encouraged Potter to continue their duel. But she didn't; she watched a boy almost die, watched her friend heal the same boy who terrorised you all for years. She could've easily gone to Harry's defence, but she didn't. She looked to us for direction. Not him. That says a lot." he said aloud with a sigh, strands of his curly hair falling over his forehead, causing his eyes to twitch in irritation.
You used the tips of your fingers to coil the stubborn curls away from his face as he speaks, a new sense of admiration, trust and calm washing over you as you stare at your lover.
"It may take time for me to trust her, Granger too," he continues. "But I see how much she looks up to you, trusts you and vice versa. I can learn to forgive them for their wrongdoings. For you, my love."
"Thank you, Théo." you repeat as you bury your face into his shirtless chest, breathing in his intoxicating scent.
He smiles as he presses a kiss to your temple, unaware that today's events would spiral into something unfathomable that Mattheo Riddle should've seen coming from miles away.

did i mention how much i love soft!matty😫😫 (in every chapter since they got together 😵‍💫😵‍💫)
i had to end it with some fluff because i'm sure you can guess what's gonna happen in the next few chapters lol
also thought id let you know that meadow's siphon powers are now fully manifested, she just has to learn how to control it (which we see briefly in this chapter)

Y/N was not at all thrilled about this detention. After all, she had been there when Harry got back from his first detention.
His hand still had the scar.
It was horrifying. And it didn't help that Draco, who had been the one to tattle on her, was Umbridge's favorite. It's like trouble kept finding her, no matter how much she tried to be Little Miss Perfect. This year, she determined, was an exception. She didn't have to go down to the toad's office just yet, so she stopped by Gryffindor Tower.
"Hello, Frances!” She waved. “Can you please let me in?"
The Fat Lady squinted her eyes and hummed. "Fine."
The portrait opened up, and Y/N smiled, walking over the discarded red solo cups and confetti. Even though George, Fred, and Harry were banned from the team, they still had a party for their first win.
She sat on the couch, not even bothering to tell any of her friends she was there. While she loved her own common room, it was nowhere near as warm and comforting as Gryffindor’s was. Ravenclaw did have a fireplace, but it didn't have as comfortable of couches. Or the same aroma. Or the same chocolatey eyes. Or ginger hair. She curled up, leaning on the plush pillow, dozing off, hoping she'd wake up and everything was just a horrible dream, the last week becoming void.
"Hello, Y/N."
She opened her eyes, shielding them from the light. "Harry."
He smiled, sitting beside her. "You alright?"
She sat up, staring at the fire. "I'm stressed, and it's exhausting."
Harry scoffed. "Tell me about it."
"Yeah." She stared back into the fire.
"Can I ask why you’re here and not… in your own common room?"
She glared, nudging him playfully. "Just wanted to relax before I go into the belly of the beast."
He frowned. "I would go in your place. It's just-"
"It's just that Umbridge would immediately notice that you are not Y/N Monroe."
He laughed. "We look enough alike."
"Not that much, Harry." She stood up. "I'll be back. Don't wait up for me."
"No promises."
She smiled weakly.
As she walked to the Defense classroom, she made multiple escape plans. Maybe she could run away. Or hide in the passageways forever. Or she could- She looked at the door in front of her and took a deep breath. Best to get it over with and be done with it. She looked at the classroom she had once been excited to enter with complete disdain. Making her way up the stairs to Umbridge’s office, she tried to gather herself, willing herself not to cry in front of that wench. Just like Harry had told her, if she doesn't know that it hurts you, it doesn't feed her ego.
"Hello, Ms. Monroe. Please sit."
Y/N approached the extremely pink desk. She moved to pick up the pen, but Umbridge stopped her.
"I want to tell you, Ms.Monroe, that Mr.Potter is lying about everything. I'm sorry that you've been manipulated, and if you tell me what he's done, I'll make sure that you get past this all unharmed." She leaned forward and put her hand on her forearm. "I’m aware that you are close friends with Mr. Malfoy, and I'm sure he'd be more than happy to help you with any problems you are facing."
Y/N rolled her eyes. "Professor, as much as I appreciate your gracious offer and reminder of my past friendships," she leaned forward, and Umbridge looked eager. "I would rather rot in hell than betray my actual friends. So I'll take your blood quill."
"Seventy-five lines. I must not retaliate."
Y/N had thought about how it would feel before, having your skin cut into, but this was much more excruciating than her imagination. Her eyes were so clouded that she couldn't see in front of her, but she kept going. She would finish all seventy-five lines, and she would walk out of that demon's office with her head held high.
Tumblr media
She had walked out of Umbridge's office with her head held high for about a minute before she burst into tears. That was by far the worst experience of her life. Stumbling through the halls, she tried not to be obvious, but with the trickle of blood that was leaving her hand, it was hard to miss. She’d gotten past the moving staircases before anyone crossed her path. The first face she saw made her freeze, hoping that the ground would swallow her whole.
George Weasley was walking directly toward her. She knew that as soon as he saw her, he would know something was wrong. And she would break because that's just what George did to her. She tried to smile at him, but she was too busy forcing herself not to faint.
Thanks to her excruciating pain, she became delusional from the tears and minor blood loss, walking like a third-year after their first firewhiskey. His strong hands held her shoulders.
"Are you alright, love? You don't look so good."
She nodded, keeping her head down. "I'm fine, George. I just need to get back to my common room."
"Not so fast. What's-" He paled. "What the bloody hell is wrong with your hand?"
"I scratched it."
"Darling, a scratch does not produce this much blood." He held her hand gently, examining the back. "Who did this?"
"It doesn't matter Georgie. I-"
He looked rather heartbroken and angry at the same time. Her heart clenched; she knew couldn't lie to him. It was really annoying. She sighed and took a deep breath.
"Umbridge."
He was eerily quiet, still staring at her hand. "I'm going to kill that horrible wicked toad."
"No, you're not."
He scoffed, raising his voice. "Look at what she did to you!"
Y/N tore her hand away, wincing. "You don't understand, George."
"Darling! She is torturing you!"
"Just leave it alone." She shoved past him, trying to walk away.
"I'm telling McGonagall. Or Dumbledore."
She whipped around, glaring. "You're insane!"
He laughed, his whole face covered in disbelief. "I'm insane? I'm insane? This woman-"
She put her hand over her eyes, trying to stop herself from passing out from the pain. "George-"
"This woman is torturing you! And getting away with it!"
"George."
"And you won't even tell anyone. Merlin, love!"
"George. You don't get it!" They were both quiet for a moment, their chests heaving from the adrenaline of their yelling match. "I'm sorry. But I can't let her know she's getting to me. Then she wins." She took a deep breath and walked away from him. "Just drop it."
He watched her in shock before snapping out of his trance and following after her. Grabbing her bicep, he twirled her around. "George, seriously-"
He shook his head. "You don't take care of yourself enough, you know. You never have, and you probably never will."
She scoffed like what he was saying wasn't a well-known fact. "What’s your-"
"Just let me speak, Y/N." He took a deep breath. "You've been putting yourself in harm's way since your second year, and it's-” He muttered, laughing to himself. “I can’t believe I’m about to say this. It’s frankly irresponsible."
Her eyebrows scrunched, and her angry expression was replaced with one of shock. If someone had asked her to look back on what she said in response, she would probably pretend not to remember, when in reality, she was embarrassed for saying something entirely irrelevant.
"You knew who I was?"
George sighed, staring down lovingly at her. "Y/N/N-" He shook his head, trying to get back into the scolding mindset. "Stop distracting me! You're changing the point. You've been putting yourself in harm's way for three, almost four years now, and for a good cause, I can respect that..." He sighed. "But when are you going to start taking care of yourself? Thinking about if this-" He flung his arms about, gesturing to her hand, the castle, the Gryffindor Tower. "-is a good plan?"
She was still stuck in a trance, words failing to leave her. He nodded. "That's what I thought." Pulling her closer, he whispered. "So why don't you let me do the worrying here? Okay? Because I-" Her eyes were full of hope, and he tried to say it again. "You know that I-"
Time seemed to stop as Y/N held her breath. Maybe it was the fact that someone cared more for her well-being than she did, or maybe it was the fact that she had been in love with George Weasley since her third year, but something moved her, and she surged forward, grabbing his face and pulling it down to hers.
And she kissed him. His worrying over her being too reckless and underreacting to a rather severe problem made her realize she didn't want to avoid the inevitable anymore.
She let go of his face slowly and looked up, just then realizing that she wasn't one hundred percent sure he loved her- or even at the least loved her back.
George stuttered. "I- you-"
She winced, and she started to spiral into a bout of panic. "Sorry. I didn't even ask. I-"
He grinned widely, pulling her closer. "Just let me take care of you." He put his right hand on her cheek, caressing her face with his thumb. "Please."
His left hand let go of her wrist, and fell to her waist, pulling her as close as humanely possible.  He smiled as he kissed her back. He was scared that this was a dream, that he would stop kissing her, and he would wake up in his bed again, without her. They parted, faces still insanely close. They slowly caught their breaths, her smile so wide her face ached.
"I-" She took her head off of his chest, and looked up at his glowing face. "I love you."
He kissed her again, this time softer and yet just as passionate. "I've been in love with you since you tripped down the stairs."
She giggled, tears still in her eyes. "I love you."
"I love you."
She kissed him again, and he fell into it. "I really love you."
"Good. Because I honestly don't think I could have gone another moment without kissing you. You-" he pecked her lips between each word. "Are most definitely the love of my life.”
The remaining tears stuck in her eyes fell, laughing in his hold. "You are a dream, Weasley."
"Don't think that I'm going to forget about Umbridge. I’m talking to McGonagall first thing tomorrow."
She smiled up at him. "Whatever you say, love."
He walked her back to Gryffindor Tower, and she snorted, stopping him in his tracks. "I have an idea."
He hummed. "What's that?"
"What if we pull a," she brought her hand up and held her fingers close together, "small prank?"
He smirked. "I knew there was a reason I loved you."
"Haha., What if we don't tell anyone about us..." George looked skeptical. "Until you walk into breakfast, and we act like a couple. To freak them out."
"So you're targeting dear old Ronniekins."
"Obviously."
He looked at her deadpan, clapping slowly. "Amazing, my love! Truly revolutionary."
She smacked him on the chest. "Oh, shut it."
"Let's do it."
She nodded. "Alright then. The prank begins... now."
Y/N walked towards the portrait but was quickly pulled back. He smirked, leaning down.
"I need one more kiss, just to hold me over until tomorrow."
"I think you'll be mhm-"
She melted into his arms, twirling the short locks by the top of his neck. They pulled apart, and she spoke breathily. "The prank starts now."
She walked into the tower, George following after her. Her face was still puffy, and her eyes were still slightly watery. Hermione gasped, rushing her over to the couch.
"Oh, Y/N."
"Nothing she hasn't already done before."
Ron grumbled. "I still don't understand why we can't tell Dumbledore."
"Tell Dumbledore what?"
She fought the urge to smile, turning towards the familiar voice.
"Oh, nothing."
Hermione rolled her eyes. "It isn't nothing. Umbridge had Y/N do lines with a special quill that cuts into your skin."
George's face looked just as it had before, and Y/N realized he wasn't pretending. He was still upset. He walked up to the couch, examining her hand.
"I can't believe she’s getting away with this. I'll be back. I have loads of bandages in case a prank gone wrong.”
He ran to his dorm, and Hermione laughed, nudging her friend. "Just friends. Really?"
The Ravenclaw shrugged, pink dusting her cheeks.
George appeared back in front of them, first aid kit in hand. "This should do the trick after you use the necessary healing spells." He looked at Harry. "You should use some, too. This muggle medicine works wonders."
"Thanks, Georgie."
"No problem, love."
Ron groaned. "Just get a room, you two."
Hermione scolded him. "Ronald, stop it."
Harry smirked. "Yeah, Ronald. Stop it."
"Shut up, Harry."
Harry gestured to Y/N/s hand, smiling sympathetically. "What did she make you write?"
"I must not retaliate."
He grinned, nodding. "Fitting."
"Oh, shut it, Harry."

Nothing has been the same ever since you managed to get Salazar Slytherin’s locket from Dolores Umbridge. And now you were hiding in a tent in some forest Hermione led you all into.
You all knew that the locket contained a piece of the Dark Lord’s soul, that was why you and Hermione deduced that whoever wore it gets irritated, angry, and extremely depressed. You came up with a plan to take turns wearing it and it was your turn.
You slowly put the locket on your neck, already feeling anger clawing its way into your heart. It was suffocating, corrosive, eating away at every ounce of happiness you tried to hold onto. You did your best to shake it all off at the moment.
“Are you okay?” asked Harry, holding your hand. You squeezed his hand to tell him you were fine. You followed him towards the table, sitting on the chair beside him.
The tent glowed from within under a starlit sky as Hermione poured tea from a kettle into the cups. “How’re the mushrooms? Seem to be the only edible things growing round here,” she asked.
Harry could only grimace as he chewed. “They’re great,” he lied.
“Make sure to leave some for Ron,” Hermione said.
You looked at Ron who was sleeping as Harry asked Hermione how bad he was at the moment. “He’ll be alright in a few days. Hopefully. If we could take him to Hogwarts, to Madam Pomfrey–” she cut herself when Harry glanced at her, giving her a look that confirmed what she already knew—it was not possible to take Ron to Madam Pomfrey. You would just have to settle with what you have right now.
You felt it again, that familiar weight pressing down on your chest. The world felt like an empty void, and the possibility of winning the war seemed so distant… so out of reach. You took a deep breath, trying to push the darkness away. Yet, depression started to creep its way in, causing your shoulders to slump.
“Take it off,” Harry instructed you, instantly feeling the change in your demeanor.
“But I haven’t been wearing it for that long. I can manage a little longer,” you reasoned.
“No, Y/N. Take it off. I’ll wear it instead,” he told you and you didn’t bother to fight with him anymore. You gave him the locket, and he placed it on his neck.
“Thank you,” you whispered to him, kissing his cheek. He smiled in response, yet again squeezing your hand that still held his.
“It’s comforting to know how much you care for each other. Especially during these times.” Hermione grinned at the two of you.
Tumblr media
Hermione was agitated, you could tell it by the way she handled the fish she was about to cook. And you knew it was mostly because of the locket she was wearing.
You immediately grabbed her hands tightly, stopping them from further stabbing the fish when she was supposed to remove the scales. “You know the fish is already dead, right?” you asked. She looked at the fish, realizing what she was doing. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know I was doing that,” she replied, shaking her head. You could see the disappointment that etched her face.
“It’s okay,” you smiled. “I can cook for tonight.”
“Are you sure?” she asked.
“Of course. You’ve already done so much today. You deserve some rest. I’ll just wake you up when it’s time to eat,” you replied, taking the knife and the fish away from her.
She teared up a bit, smiling widely. “Thank you so much, I really appreciate this. If you need any hel–”
“Hermione,” you stopped her. “Stop. Please, just rest. I know how to cook a fish. I’ll be fine.”
“If it makes you feel better, I’ll help her cook,” Harry offered, coming up from behind you. “I’ll make sure the fish stays edible.”
You glared at him and he just laughed. You did not appreciate the fact that he couldn’t trust you with cooking, but you did appreciate that he was going to help.
“Thank you guys so much,” Hermione smiled, hugging the two of you before going to bed.
You saw Ron covering her with a blanket and you looked at Harry to see if he saw it too. He did, and now you were giggling with each other at how your two friends couldn’t just admit their feelings for each other.
Tumblr media
Ron was staring at the fire. There was so much anger and doubt beneath his eyes and you understood where they were coming from. You walked towards him, sitting down beside him.  He nodded, acknowledging your presence before looking at the fire again. You could tell from the way he breathed deeply that he was attempting to steady his thoughts. However, a pang of anger emerged, causing him to clench his fists.
He was still injured and you have noticed that he seemed more quiet and reserved lately. You wanted to ask him a question, to ask him how was he but you were scared you’d make him more annoyed than he already was. The locket on his neck wasn’t helping.
“I’m guessing you’re here to ask how I feel?” he voiced.
“Yes…” you replied, still skeptical of whether you should leave him alone or stay with him.
You chose to stay with him.
“Well, how do you think I’m feeling?” he snapped. “What do I look like? Do I look like I’m fine?”
Harry and Hermione stopped their conversation as soon as they heard Ron. Harry stood up from his position immediately, ready to intervene.
“Ron, I’m just concerned–” you told him.
“I feel horrible,” he interrupted you. “I feel like I’m a barrier stopping all of us from making progress.”
Harry’s stance changed, he was ready to fight Ron earlier when he heard him snap at you. But now, he felt heartbroken for his friend. He sat down beside you and Hermione followed him. Now, the four of you sat in a circle.
“What makes you feel like that?” Hermione asked him. “That’s not true.”
“Really? Do you think I don’t hear you all constantly talk about how long it takes until I get fully healed?”
“Ron, it’s just–we don’t have all the time in the world and we want to get you healed as soon as possible,” you reasoned.
“Exactly,” he said. “I’m halting all of us. You all wanna leave but you feel like you’re forced to stay because of me.”
“You are taking all of this wrong,” Hermione spoke up.
“It’s the locket,” Harry interrupted, trying to remove the locket from Ron’s neck but Ron swat away his hand. “Take it off,” Harry warned him. He was getting irritated as well.
“Can you both stop?” you vocalized. “Ron, I don’t know what it is that you want us to say but at least believe me when I say that we don’t feel forced staying with you here. Yes, we could’ve traveled more these past few days but we still made progress by staying here. We had more opportunities to talk and brainstorm together. And at the same time, we were able to get some rest from constant traveling. If we wanted to leave you, we could’ve done that way earlier. We could’ve left you injured, but we didn’t. We didn’t leave you, we stayed with you because we care for you. Now, please take that locket off before you assume things again.”
That seemed to calm him down. Harry tried to take the locket off from him again, but this time, Ron let him. Ron looked down, letting your words sink into his head. “I’m sorry,” he apologized. Hermione moved so she could sit beside him, rubbing circles on his back to comfort him.
“It’s fine. We all overthink things when we’re stressed,” you said, smiling at him.
“Thank you,” he spoke, looking at each one of you. “I’m glad I have you all.”
Tumblr media
You were all gathered around the table when you noticed that Harry’s hands started fidgeting. He hid them behind his back but it was too late because you already saw them. When Hermione asked him a question about where all of you should go next, he only shrugged. At that moment, Ron and Hermione knew something was wrong. Harry suddenly walked out and you immediately followed him. Hermione wanted to go after him as well but Ron stopped her before she could even move a step.
“Let Y/N talk to him,” Ron said and Hermione agreed it would be the best.
You saw Harry sitting alone, visibly overwhelmed. His hands were grasping tightly onto each other, trying to fight off the anger and depression creeping in. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to regain control. The locket he was wearing doubled up the anger and depression he was already feeling.
"Come on, pull it together," he whispered to himself. He didn't notice you sitting beside him. It saddened you to see him like this. If you told your young self that the giggly kid you met at the Hogwarts Express back in your first year would end up like this years later, you wouldn’t believe yourself. But now here you were, beside him, watching him say positive things to himself when you knew there were little to no positive things left.
Harry hugged his knees. His eyes were still closed, and he put his head down as if he were trying to cover himself from the world. You teared up just from that sight alone.
That little kid who gave you candy on the train years ago grew up with the weight of the world on his shoulders, and you were a witness. The war was far from over and each day that passed without finding a horcrux troubled every one of you.
You didn’t know what to say so you just did what you could do at that moment. You hugged him, so tight to make him feel that if he wanted to cover himself from the world, you would provide a second layer of protection.
His body stopped shaking and he looked up at you. That was when you saw he was crying. You wiped his tears gently with your hands, telling him that you were there for him and that you were always going to be there for him.
“What if everything fails and he wins?” he asked, hugging your body with every bit of his strength. He was holding onto you like his life depended on it. You hugged him back, kissing his forehead before putting your chin above his head. You saw Ron and Hermione standing at the entrance of the tent, their eyes were tearing up as well. You didn’t know how long they had been watching you and Harry but you motioned for them to go outside.
They joined the hug, and right after, you felt safe from every harm that would come your way. Moments where you felt safe only happen rarely, so you cherished this moment.
“He won’t win,” you stated.
“How do you know so?” Harry asked.
“I don’t know so. I just believe so,” you answered.
You hugged them even tighter, whispering that it was going to be alright when in reality you weren’t sure if everything would be alright.
Maybe what you were doing was instilling them with false hope, but at least it was still hope.
And right now, you all needed hope so badly.

Hello! Can u do one where Snape and student reader has a platonic bantering relationship? Like Snape favors them a lot and students and teachers clearly notices but Snape and Student likes to go back and forth with petty insults. Kinda like making the other students and professors confused if Snape actually favors them or not. But when someone insults the other they would passionately defend them. Something along the lines of "only I can insult Snape/Student" It can be like Snape is complaining abt Student to McGonagall then suddenly McGonagall agrees and adds her complaints making Severus defend student suddenly. Or when Student is complaining to her friends abt how awful Snape is but when her friends insult him she also defends him. HAHAHAHA i don't know if it makes sense so I understand if u can't make it lol.

Platonic severus snape x reader
Tumblr media
Severus didn’t like when students disrespected him, just because he’s young didn’t mean he wasn’t worthy out it.
That’s one of many reasons he’s so strict, students just learn to stay out of his way like that but then again there we’re always the ones who just didn’t get the hint.
And one of them was you.
Honestly you were bound to be trouble the second you opened your mouth in his classroom, left him gritting his teeth and furiously angry at the house you were from.
You were blunt, annoying and hotheaded.
"But Professor just one last chance! You need too you know this was not my best performance!"
"Sounds like a you problem."
It would be like that then after some more nagging he would give in because you we’re starting to give him a headache and he couldn’t give you detention for asking for help.
At one point he just gave up with your tactics all together and what made it worse was that you kept your promises, you did your work, participated in class, and regardless of the back talk and half assed comments at each other you were not, dare he say…insufferable but just more tolerable than most.
Although minerva likes to say you’re his favorite but he denies it every time, he doesn’t have favorites and he merely tolerates you.
"Severus due give this to young miss [——] when you go to the great hall"
"Do I look like an owl Minerva?" He said irritated.
The older professor gave him a look before he groaned and took the textbook and went on his way to the great hall where students were starting to gather in for lunch.
The great hall was buzzing with chatter, students were too busy to notice him enter and he liked it that way, he looked around then landed his eyes on you sitting on the gryffindor table to his pleasure, chatting with potter and granger.
He approached you slowly but stopped when he heard potter mentioning him.
"I swear I can’t do it anymore! If I get another troll on my next assignment I’m gonna try convincing Dumbledore that it’s not necessary in the curriculum"
"Don’t be dramatic, potions just need some focusing and if you tried not picking fight with snape things would be easier, I know he’s an ass but come on" you replied.
Hermione cleared her throat "it’s Professor Dumbledore Harry and professor snape to you!" She pointed at you but you just shrugged "moral of the story she’s right Harry you just need to focus, try to pay attention in class instead of neglecting your grades just to spite professor snape"
Harry crossed his arms "easy for her to say, she’s his favorite, it’s honestly starting to piss me off! He’s a git who only cares about his own house and I hope he does get that dark arts position at least then he would leave hogwarts one way or another!"
Harry regretted his words the second they left his mouth, the look you gave him was a mix of shock and angry.
"What is wrong with you?! I know he’s a git, he’s unfair and sometimes plain unreasonable when he feels like it but wishing death on him just because you dislike him!"
"[——] calm down Harry didn’t mean it like that!"
"That’s not-"
"That’s exactly what you meant Harry! He’s mean but he’s not a monster" you said all of that while not realizing snape was standing right there, watching and observing the whole thing.
It made his chest a tad tight, he hated the feeling but the look of absolute shame on Harry’s face made him satisfied.
Maybe he does have favorites.
"Snape? What are you doing with my textbook!" You said finally noticing him standing there with you transfigurations textbook. He scoffed and handed you the textbook.
"You brats would lose your head if it they weren’t attached to your body"
You frowned and took your textbook from him.
"I remember important stuff…like washing my hair" you smirked
Snape glared at you, screw what he just thought, you were still annoying.

Stick to the Books
short summary: you’ve been trying to get hermione to take a break from studying, but she keeps dismissing you. now all you’re trying to do is get her attention.
hermione x reader; second person; no use of y/n
Tumblr media
“Hermione! Hermione! Hermione!” you called out in a strained whisper, tugging at the end of her sweater.
Hermione Granger, the girl you so heavily fancied, threw a glare in your direction. She took your hand from her sweater, going back to write with her quill. “What?” she hissed.
“You’ve been studying for too long. Take a break,” you tried, flashing a smile that you hoped looked charming.
She furrowed her brows, shaking her head. Her gaze went back to her paper, only halfway finished. “No. I have to finish this.”
“It’s due in a week! You can work on it during your free period tomorrow morning and finish!”
Hermione grumbled something in response, dismissing you. But all her dismissal did was fuel your hopes of getting her to take a well deserved break.
Tumblr media
The second attempt was much more playful. Hermione was in the middle of reading a textbook to add more information to her essay, eyes frantically looking left to right as she scanned the words.
“Hey.. Hermione..~!” you sang.
“What,” she mumbled, half paying attention to you.
“I have your favorite chocolate bar~! Right here.”
You held out your hand, and fifteen little hershey kisses were in your hand. Hermione eyed them warily. “I’ll give you one if you give me one,” you raised both of your brows suggestively.
Hermione seemed to be oblivious, tilting her head with a confused expression. “You want to give me one if I give you one? So I’m not getting chocolates?”
“No, Hermione-”
“I have to finish.”
The third time was a bit more flirty as you tried to shoot your shot. Hermione and you had a platonic relationship, and of course you wanted more. Since she was half listening, you thought it’d be good practice if you tried.
“Hermione, are you listening?” you whispered, tone as soft as you could manage.
She didn’t move, eyes glued to the paper.
“You are awfully pretty. Your hair always seems to move in such a graceful manner, just as you are now,” you began in a hushed tone, leaning on your arms. “Eyes such a common hue, yet it’s so different when it comes to you. Poised and perfection, like a dream come true. Merlin, how much could I possibly fancy you?”
You sighed softly, putting your head down on the table. Your arms hid your face from view, keeping you from seeing a flustered, wide eyed Hermione staring at you.
