The material conditions for radical change are built through many small acts;
Planting the trees that will feed us as time passes,
Making the friendships that will build communities and connections,
Reading, learning, teaching, speaking;
eating, feeding, doing the dishes;
Moving our bodies, sleeping;
Becoming the sort of people who could be in the world we want to see happen.
Nothing will be different if we don’t lay the ground work. There will be no sudden moment of salvation. Just a building, and a planning, and a trying, and a series of culminations.
Perhaps there will come one day a revolution. Perhaps there will only be the trickle of what little improvements we can make. To me, the actions to take are the same. Create a world we can survive in. Don’t wait.

this is what i think of when third party voters go around acting morally superior because they don't want to get their hands dirty like the rest of us. they're toddlers having temper tantrums because instead of using the system in a way that could benefit them in the long term like the extremist Republicans have been doing for decades, third party voters refuse to participate in local civics & then claim the entire country is already fascist. they're so cute in their naivety if they think the US can't get any worse.
what the fuck do you think will happen if you try to protest against a government with a military as massive, lethal, & expensive as ours. who do you think will be sacrificed first? oh what's that? crickets? thought so. i'm a white woman but i will absolutely use my voice to point out leftists can be racist as fuck & the anti-blackness in your spaces can be absolutely fucking wild. not everyone leftist is white, but many that are can be pretty problematic.
if you think i'm selfish then fine. if you state that you would gladly exchange my life for a Palestinian like one of you said in a comment to me a few weeks ago then fine. i'm out here fighting to make sure the people who live here in this country don't experience our own Holocaust.
if you have a problem with people wanting to fight this while claiming you're anti-genocide, you're a fucking liar & a hypocrite. you won't know what the fuck to do in a true fascist country. i don't doubt there are pockets of fascism already existing here but you thinking it's already the worst it can be is as infuriating as people who think the government is creating their massive hurricanes using weather machines. you sound just as childish & delusional. you already sound like children because you will never take responsibility for your choices if it ends up helping him win.
jill stein's campaign is a sham. she is deliberately running as a spoiler. she's a wealthy white woman who lives in a mostly white affluent neighborhood. she's going around lecturing black people about white supremacy. she is getting funds from Republicans as well as help from trump's lawyers. Lockheed Martin has given her money. she's involved in shady as fuck index funds for companies that harm the environment. she only started talking about Gaza during this election cycle to hit you in the feelings so she can bank on it. she made a whole stink about needing a recount, raised a bunch of money for that, & then that money disappeared who knows where. do you all hear this? do you care? no, you're just like maga with their orange Jesus. you don't give a FUCK about stein's red flags because she's "different."
if Harris loses & you blame anyone but yourselves, you're cowardly traitors who threw us regular Americans to the wolves because of your precious fucking principles. history has shown time & time again that protest voting typically allows something worse to take control. it's hardly ever beneficial to the people. you're vile. you don't want to make this world a better place by allowing so many near you to suffer & die. if both sides are the same then please tell me you're okay with another trump presidency. or just shut the fuck up.
i look forward to more potentially heartwarming messages saying that my life doesn't mean shit from people who allegedly are against the death penalty & are pro-human rights 🥰
please vote, don't stop talking about Project 2025, etc. i hope enough of us vote in a way that these pathetic third party voters don't gain any kind of traction. at this point i'm just angry at their hypocrisy when they don't even listen to other protestors who live here & are begging them to not vote third party. i refuse to listen to y'all not take responsibility for your part. Project 2025 will hurt us all but apparently you're okay with that or you think it's already here. smooth brain takes all around. anyways good luck & stay safe to anyone who votes blue 💙
#third party#green party#jill stein#jill stein is a putin plant#jill stein sucks#she will save no one#she can't even call putin a war criminal#do y'all not care about Ukraine#or do they deserve this treatment as well#y'all are so anti war you're more than happy to see it happen tee hee#you're not morallu superior#you're a selfish child#i would like to protect our most vulnerable here#your lack of voting for harris isn't hurting her#it's hurting the rest of us#in the end we'll all be screwed if he wins#the revolution isn't going to happen the way you want it#the fascists here are extremely well organized and have been playing a long game#the leftists in this country are nowhere near this organized or backed up#i kind of fucking hate you#so i look forward to more messages about how my life doesn't matter#you sure showed the system lmao#us politics#please vote#vote blue#let's drown out these selfish naive voters#project 2025#stop project 2025#agenda 47#kamala harris

⭐️Currently reading: The One-Straw Revolution by Masanobu Fukuoka ⭐️
‘Just playing or doing nothing at all, children are happy. A discriminating adult, on the other hand, decides what will make him happy, and when these conditions are met he feels satisfied.’
The synopsis calls it ‘Zen and the Art of Farming.’ This book is about his experience over 30 years of using the ‘do-nothing’ farming method. He lets his orchard and rice/barley fields grow wild without any pest controls or fertilizers. That’s the basis of it (kinda?) — but what makes this book amazing is that he goes deep into why it works for him. Explaining why he doesn’t have to use chemicals to treat weeds and pests. Into the full circle of life & how to actually grow ‘natural’ food. We always want bigger and better quality & focus on high yields and money. How disconnected we really are growing from nature in agriculture.
If you aren’t into agriculture or learning about the exact ‘whys’ of his experiences from growing rice, barley & citrus on his personal field —- skip to part 2 of the book. I honestly wouldn’t recommend skipping(it holds a lot of useful information), but after part 2 is where I really got interested.
It’s not only about farming though - it also incorporates our health, diet and how basic our knowledge is as humans. It makes you think.
Even this book being written in 1978 - it still holds up to today. We’ve had all this knowledge since then and we still continue to do industrial agriculture and live/eat the way we do. It’s eye opening, for sure.
I’m not completely finished yet - I have about 40 pages left - but that’s what I think so far ☺️ You should definitely give it a try.

My professor introduced us to a very niche type of climate proxy in lab today, and now that’s all I can think about.
The lab was about tree rings, and he mentioned the word “pollen” along a list of other commonly proxies used. But pollen???? That’s unnecessarily interesting to me and is eating at my brain. He spent almost an hour talking about it to me after lab bc omg no that’s so cool and I have so many questions
#guys you don’t get it#that can be used to not only trace the paleoclimate#but also the migration of plants#wanna know what follows plants???#animals.#wanna know what I super want to study???#the push and pull of plants and animals through revolution#*evolution#like it will only go back so far on the time scale#but!!!!!!#it’s still part of what I want to do#like doing the edge peices of a puzzle#or the corners

and I guess if it's disability pride month and I'm already feeling stroppy
every time someone comes at me with that stupid petition to save the mütter museum it's like
*leans forward into the microphone*
you're asking me, a disability rights writer and strong repatriation supporter, to try and save the collection of stolen bodies displayed in dehumanizing ways that made a fortune off of marketing disabled corpses as quirky and spooky and fun.
you're asking me to support the organization that fucking bribed gravediggers and lied about being a family member so they could steal the corpse of the (currently not concretely identified) saponified woman and put it next to the gift shop where they (at the time) sold soap lady on a rope.
you're asking me to support the organization that let donators "adopt" the skulls in the hyrtl collection without seeing an ounce of irony when they knew, they knew, that most of that collection housed the skulls of the disabled, criminalized, and impoverished. when we have josef hyrtl's notes where he talked about how it was better to steal the corpses of POC because they're cheaper. when they knew that not one of those people had the equivalent of $200 spent on them in their lifetimes, and that their lives often could have been saved if people had, but they also knew that these people were worth more to the museum-going public dead than they were alive.
when we fucking know that josef hyrtl's tomb was encased in concrete so no other grave robbers could return the fucking favor.
you're asking me! to support a museum! that I visited for a class on the history of medical ethics! and I had to go inside via a locked-to-the-public service elevator, unlike all my classmates! because a museum making money off of disabled bodies didn't have a dedicated entrance for living ones!
fuck you!
the saddest thing about the mütter museum is that I think some people working there really are dedicated to medical education. they gave me space to cry during that field trip after I heard a kid tell her dad that the body of a man who'd purposefully donated his body to the museum for education was going to give her nightmares. a real fucking person. one who'd willingly donated his body, the best-case scenario for that disaster of a museum. and her dad just laughed. because that's the vibe they go for there.
it's fucking dehumanizing.
I'm not against medical education; I actually think it's super important. but I've been to medical museums all over the world now, and the Hunterian model is not an effective way to teach. (though it does make lots of money, and has since Hunter first started having tea parties to show off stolen organs in bottles to his fellow rich friends in his fucking living room.) there are so many ways to teach about medicine and the history thereof without displaying, again, mostly stolen bodies in jars.
the depressing thing is that they know that there. I know that because their modern temporary exhibits tend to be really good. they're respectful and they're interesting and they're well-designed and they're deeply educational. I saw a few during various visits I had to make for classes. their exhibit on the way that medicine changed during the civil war? great! fascinating. important.
but the fact of the matter is that no matter how much their staff tried to get me in that building without missing too much of the tour the rest of my class got (but I very much did miss some of it) and no matter how much their staff acknowledged my concerns and no matter how respectful their modern exhibits are, the lion's share of their collection is still based on turning stolen othered bodies into a sideshow. that's their main draw and it's how they make their money. there is literally no way to thoroughly modernize a museum with a ghastly history while that's the case.
so uh no. I won't be signing your petition.
#description in alt text#cw:#disability#ableism#god I hate that place#I do like the medicinal plant garden tho#the museum of the american revolution can also get fucked if we're being mad about philly museums#hosting a fucking party for neo nazis wtf

Was rereading some of your comics and this gave me some thoughts:
Y'know. Rot cysts come from genetic engineering failures, but look distinctly otherworldly. Their bodies are solid black, they're covered in X's, and when one falls its almost unnaturally slow. Plus they're blue, which is a color distinctly associated with void fluid technology in iterator structures(Mass Rarefaction Cells, Flux Conduits, etc.)
I would not be surprised if there *was* somethin funky goin on with them beyond "super tumor".
;)
#spot says stuff#rw#my 'the void fluid revolution stuff is all wrong' propaganda is Reaching people#another thing that makes the Rot feel Wrong: it doesnt have any spirits in it#Hivemind components do. plants do. the Rot is shaped like something that should have too. but no. its a sickness. its a moving failure#es fun playin with the Rot like this like it all started with 'u have an X on urself for No damn reason n also das not how a cancer looks'#Sparrows'dad was a smart man

I know climate change is immediate and overwhelming, but the atitufe of “we can’t do things that take time, we need to stop it now” often just leads to doing nothing.
Hot take, but if you think we need to fight climate change immediately, then learning how it would look to do so over time is actually the first step. Because then you can figure out how to speed it up. But just saying “we need to overthrow all the world governments and institutions and capitalism and make an ecological system today” won’t make it happen today. Your right. It would be best if we did those things. But you don’t know how. So plant some fucking native plants and pull up invasive species and for the love of god start fucking talking to people and making friends because you cannot do this alone. Start building community and learning things.
If you think it’s so urgent, why wait for the revolution? Shouldn’t we start now?

slamming my head against a brick wall WHYYYY WON’T IT LET ME FILL OUT THE FAFSA WHY WHY WHY WHY
#I’VE SPENT ALL DAY TRYING TO GET IT FINISHED BUT NOOO#I FILLED OUT EVERYTHING CORRECTLY I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY IT WON’T LET ME COMPLETE IT#what makes it all the more frustrating is that this could all be avoided completely if we#just STOPPED BOMBING OTHER COUNTRIES#WE DON’T NEED TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS FOR OUR MILITARY#and the old fucking asshats who run this stupid shitshow all think that since THEY had to pay off their student loans#(even though they almost certainly did not because they’re all banked up with their daddy’s money)#then WE should have to pay it off too#and it’s ridiculously overpriced too#for me to attend for four years is $120.000#for WHAT??#i just wanna learn about plants man please this is insane#it would be soooo beneficial to our overall economy if school was just free (or wayyy cheaper) but no#politicians LIKE when we’re in debt to them so they can control us#i’m so mad rn if you couldn’t tell#i had a whole rant ready but i don’t feel like being put on a watchlist#if the revolution doesn’t happen within my lifetime i’m gonna be so fucking pissed off
