You said in your rules that you don't want to break up canon couples. Are you referring to writing a ship with a roleplay partner which breaks up a canon couple in the process or just the concept of writing with someone who writes a non-canon pairing as canon? I apologise for the question, I simply don't think I understood the statement so I thought I would ask.

To be honest, I need to update that to make it clearer, so thank you for reminding me with this ask. I’ll answer here, and then go try to fix my rules, lol.

What I was trying to say is that I feel uncomfortable pretending canon couples didn’t exist for the sake of ignoring and backgrounding certain characters--usually women characters. On the other hand, I view a lot of Star Trek canon couples as comphet, so I RUN INTO WALLS SOMETIMES TRYING TO EXPRESS HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS.

I love non-canon ships and I’m fine with like... realistic developments that would lead to the breakup of a canon couple. I just wouldn’t want the character being broken up with to be treated as bad or unimportant just to make the new ship look better? If that makes more sense? Honestly it’s a case-by-case basis, so maybe that’s how I should phrase it in the rules.

ALSO, this is 100% only intended for threads involving me. Other people can do what they want.

who wakes up first in the morning: Well, they’re both terrible with sleep but Sylar hardly sleeps at all, but when they do “sleep” together (which usually has Sylar being knocked out for various reasons) it’s still Sylar.

who’s the first to fall asleep at night: Cris, though I’m not 100% sure it’s always “at night” - it’s space, it’s always night. But he’s the one that sleeps more, even if it’s also not as much as he should

what they playfully tease each other over: Rios teases Sylar about a lot of things. His height, his age, the fact that he is actually a cat. Sylar doesn’t tease as much, although he does look at Cris with fond amusement when he’s doing something clearly reckless and/or illogical but fairly harmless.

what they do when the other’s having a bad day: There’s usually a lot of cuddling. Cris holds him close, in ways that make him feel protected and safe. Sylar sometimes uses his telepathic abilities to calm Cris’s mind. He’s done that mid-panic attack and it’s very helpful.

how they say ‘i’m sorry’ after arguments: (Apparently I left this one blank by accident originally, so) Vulcan kisses, forehead kisses, resting their foreheads against each other’s.

which one’s more ticklish: Sylar’s skin is very sensitive but not ticklish. I honestly don’t know if Cris is ticklish or not.

their favourite rainy day activities: Almost all of their regular activities are “rainy day” activities, considering they stay in most of the time when they’re not on a job. Reading, talking about philosophy or culture, drinking together (Sylar sometimes drinks chocolate which is what actually gets him drunk, but he also sometimes drinks alcohol even though it does nothing for him and he doesn’t like the flavor, just because it’s a bonding thing)

how they surprise each other: Sylar is never not surprised when Rios shows affection even though it happens a lot, just the fact that Rios actually cares about him is surprising to Sylar. Also anytime Rios shows interest in Vulcan culture because he’s not used to that from humans. Rios sometimes hand-makes authentic Vulcan dishes for Sylar (and he has for Sylar’s parents too and that was terrifying). Rios is also surprised that Sylar is in love with him because what he was told (and what is true) before he accepted Sylar’s transfer was that he’s emotionless even for a Vulcan but somehow this incredibly attractive emotionless Vulcan fell for him?? Things Sylar deliberately does to surprise Cris would be most of the things he learns from the holos, he learns to surprise  

their most sickening shows of public affection: Most of their affection is more private than public (primarily because both would rather not be in public anyway), but Cris definitely kisses Sylar if he feels the nature of their relationship needs to be established or emphasized to particular people (usually someone, probably a ferengi, flirting with Sylar). I’m sure there will be plenty of public affection in The River in Reverse though - related but not exactly this, Cris does like do to things at inappropriate times; making out with Sylar when they’re hiding/running for their lives, thinking “inappropriate” thoughts after they’re bonded when they’re in public/in a boring meeting/etc.

This is tricky for me because I still feel like I don’t know Sylar super well--but here’s a small handful for you, since I can’t give you a nice detailed one:

Q has an 80/20 chance of acting on any information Sylar lets slip about his past and using said action to trigger a relapse. Odds can and likely will be changed as they continue to interact, although to what degree, it’s hard to say.

At some point, purely to fuck with Sylar, Q is going to show up with him on a planet unfamiliar with Vulcans. He’s going to have Vulcan ears. He’s going to contradict everything Sylar says and insist he’s a Vulcan ambassador and Sylar is his assistant from a different planet/an outlier colony, purely to see if he can rile Sylar up.

Q? Touching Sylar’s hand just to watch him freak out? More likely than you think!

The question is, does the fact that Mirror!Sylar have two prosthetic legs make him a cyborg, and would that technically make him related to his exB sons? (I sent this to Dawn, Eros and Dany too but I'm interested in your take as well.)

Hmm I think it would make him one :o Agnes would absolutely love it because she could (try to) give the legs all sorts of augmentations (I’d imagine Mirror!Agnes would absolutely love to build cyborg parts and she’d probably have her own cybernetic augmentation clinic to support her research on synthetic life hahah)

The second question gives me so many more questions, like if cyborgs are related through their cybernetic parts, do the parts have to be the same model or build or just to be made from same materials (like... what if cyborgs could be made from different types of metal, would there be discrimination against certain metals, or would ceramic parts be superior since they’re lighter I mean how do these things even work???)

The ask meme is far too emotional in nature for me to relate to it but you should know that I greatly appreciate your presence. I don't understand why you like me or why you don't just leave, but it's nice that you don't, I suppose. That probably sounds different than the way I meant it but what I am attempting to say is that I'm mildly surprised you care but it's pleasant nonetheless.

You might not be able to relate but ya girl here, teared up. Thank you, hermano. I do wonder the same about you occasionally, but I do greatly appreciate the fact that you stay. I’ll always be here should you need anything. (Always here for boops)

@plaktow-ed     ...      angel must be the most organized person i know. it amazes me how strict, organized and thought-through this whole blog is and it’s something i envy a lot. i don’t think i could ever be this dedicated for a long time. i said it before and i will say it again, sometimes, i just forget sylar isn’t canon canon (tho still canon to me) because of all this organization! it’s very easy to get things going with him bc ooc-wise? angel is such a wonderful and lovely person, i often find myself being in awe.

 ‧͙⁺˚*･༓☾ this is actually something i find really interesting and have a lot of thoughts on, which i’m going to try and synthesize as concisely as i can here. the short answer is no --- i don’t think that prosthetics automatically make someone a cyborg, but i do think it comes down to personal comfort and identification? does mirror!sylar see himself as a cyborg? how much of a part of him are his prosthetic legs? do they feel like they’re part of his identity?

i wouldn’t call myself an expert but after having spent the better part of two months writing about the borg’s relationship with disability, i do think i can say i’m somewhat of an authority on that particular subject. the borg are disabled, point blank ( something i’m willing to elaborate on but not right now ), and their implants and prosthetics and non-organic bits are a part of them in a much deeper way. i think it comes down to sylar having prosthetics that are an aid to a physical impairment, versus the borg whose physical impairments come from the presence of those prosthetics. 

of course, cyborg and borg are not perfect synonyms ( in that the borg are a type of cyborg, but not all cyborgs are borg ), but they are our greatest example within the context of star trek. the way i see it, being a cyborg is a culture in itself, it is an identity that trumps everything else --- the cyborg elements cannot be separated without losing the essence of who they are. i obviously don’t know mirror!sylar the way you do, but i would reckon that while sylar’s prosthetics are a part of him, they are not as engrained in his identity as a borg’s are.

so i guess no, i don’t think there’s a “relation” between the two in the way you’re implying, but there is an opportunity for a shared experience. it’s not inherent, because what the borg went through is astronomically different from sylar, but that connection could be worked at. how has sylar’s disability impacted his life? do the prosthetics only help, or do they hinder him too? does he face discrimination and prejudice because of them? if he were to suddenly have his real legs back, would he want that? would he still be the same person?

i know the answer to these questions for hugh, and i’m curious about sylar’s. i don’t know that it’s incorrect to call him a cyborg, but i do think it’s important to consider what defines a cyborg both physically and psychologically before making that decision.
