The Feywild

The Feywild is an enormous jungle ecosystem that surrounds the great tree Yggdrasil, which was the first natural connection between earth and the after-realms. On the surface it appears like a normal forest with the exception of the mountainous tree, but once you head inside you find that the forest is warped in space. The deeper you go, the darker and stranger it becomes.

Few if any mortals have made it all the way through the Feywild. It is extremely dangerous and most who come out alive admit they turned back before reaching the midnight zone. Very little is known about what lies within, and it’s one of the most mysterious and unexplored places on earth alongside the ocean.

When creatures were first learning about the Feywild and how its ecosystem worked, there was concern about it expanding and growing outward. Hundreds of years of research has proven that the Feywild doesn’t seem interested in doing so. It keeps itself relatively isolated and independant from surrounding ecosystems.

Designing Indulgence was tough

It was one of those situations where the image I had in my head wasn't as clear as I thought it was

I wanted to go with something shark like with some minor insect elements since Gluttony is often associated with Beelzebub, but I already did something else with him

Queen Bee from helluva boss was also a big inspiration for her since I really liked her

I wanted to do a big mouth with other mouths because I like designs with big teeth and one of my favorite pieces of fan art of Bee has big toofers

She was originally going to have a longer mohawk that hung down to one side, but I couldn't get it right and decided I didn't like how it looked anyway so I made it a regular one

Her horns were also going to look more like insect antenna, but i decided it didn't look quite right either

There are still things I might change in the future as well, like moving or removing the second, smaller pair of wings, and fixing the back of her mohawk because of her choker, but right now I'm happy with this

And of course colors were just as hard

The original idea was pink body with darker pink hair, but I ended up just lightly brushing the very top of her mohawk with the dark pink instead

Her wings and horns were also originally going to match her body but I felt I needed black to balance out the bright colors more

I was originally playing with pastels for her clothes because i felt it would be colorful, but lacking in intensity enough to balance out her mohawk and body, but I was wrong

I might see how she looks with green eyes but the blue is just fine for now

Something Doctor Who misses out on is how none of the companions are extremely interested with any one thing. All the companions are all “idk, I have a few ideas of stuff that’d be cool to see, but I’m up for whatever! All of space and time, woohoo! :)”

And that’s great for them and I know it makes for a better show overall but I think it would be more realistic for someone to say “I want to see every historically significant moment for my special interest, and then I want to double back for mundane bits too.”

I, for example, would be an insufferable companion.

I’d be like, “okay now take me to the place and time where they first used stirrups for the whole ride instead of just using them as a foothold to mount the horse. Then I want to watch Ray Hunt put a first ride on a colt. After that we’ll take a nap, and then let’s sneak onto set of the Return of the King to be extras in the Ride of the Rohirrim”

The Doctor would be all “please. This is the twentieth horse-centric stop in a row. We have all of space available to us. Can we leave Earth this time I’m begging you”

And my annoying ass would go “not unless there’s horses in space” roll credits

“I mean, we could just, not do so?” Danny sounded a tiny bit uncertain about that, own claws tapping against his legs from where he sat. “I mean, Tucker seems happy enough-” 

“Okay, I didn’t come here to be called out like this-”

I swear, the Pale King just organized a conveyor belt for the production of minions from the void and delegated his duties to them

In my understanding, Lurien and the Collector were the two most reasonable specimens, so the King made them work. For free, of course, only out of a sense of love for its creator. And less autonomous samples became his kingsmoulds

Lurien was obviously entrusted with overseeing the City of Tears, but I think the situation is more interesting with the Collector

I think the King originally appointed him as a scientist who was supposed to study the effects and consequences of contact of living beings with the void. Is it possible to defeat the infection in this way or reduce its impact? It would be easy for him, since he himself is from the void

After all, he has his own tower with a study. But to be honest, the Tower of Love reminds me of one big room with soft walls for a madman, and it stands literally on the very edge of the city, isolated from it. I think the king initially saw that the Collector was not quite adequate, but he needed research, so he simply provided him with a tower with access to the Edge of the Kingdom so that he could catch unreasonable beetles there for research, and not cause problems in the city

The bug with the void flowing out of its eyes, in which we find the key to the tower, thinks that they have been together with someone for too long, and have become one. I think it was one of the assistants or workers in the tower who escaped when the influence of the void on the inhabitants of the tower became obviously detrimental. He locked the Collector up and took the key with him so that he could no longer "protect" everything he could reach

Plague doctors, beasts with too-human eyes that visit places that carry a heavy scent of carrion and disease. They accidentally spread more plague as their pycnofibers are excellent for tics to cling on. They seem immune to the disease itself.

It's said that the reason they smell like flowers is because they supplement their diets with them and rub their beaks with petals, for an unknown yet reason. Some argue its to attract mates, others that some flowers have antibacterial properties

What are Mutabilis Demons?

Mutabilis demons, or shifters, are a race of shapeshifting demons that were originally a single devil named Mutabilis.

Mutabilis's core was found and shattered when they sided with the nephalem daughter of Truth and Lust named Shade, who tried to overthrow the gods and establish herself as the only god of New Earth. (She will be her own post)

The shattered pieces became the cores for new demons, making them the youngest race on New Earth (all the shifters that are main and secondary characters are the third and youngest generation).

They are untrusted, especially in the after realms, due to both their history with Shade when Mutabilis was whole and the fact that many have formed cults that worship the imprisoned nephalem. This leads to unfair discrimination, especially when it comes to them taking positions of power, where one can be seen as untrustworthy for even knowing a Shade worshipper regardless if they themselves take part.

Shifters come in many shapes, sizes, and forms. They are so diverse that there are only three defining traits for them

1) they will typically have at least one body part that is disconnected from the rest of their body, but still functions like an attached limb. This helps with energy preservation and management

2) they have a crystal-like core they can revert to if their body is greatly damaged or they lose too much energy. Shattering this core will kill the demon instantly

3) their blood can come in many colors and will float in a way similar to water when it's in space

They can combine to create stronger shifters, though this is not the way they reproduce nor is it related to how they reproduce, it's an ability that comes from the fact that they originated as a single being and therefore can become one with another. Many of the cults of Shade even believe that combining enough Shifters would make them whole again and revive Mutabilis in way.

There is little known about them since they are relatively new to the world, but biologists on new earth do their best to learn how these curious demons work

I'm leaning more towards bigender or pangender, but I could also see genderfluid, maybe fem leaning genderfluid
