Real World Team Counterparts: Volo

That drawing looks a lot better on paper oopsie

So I took all of his team and thought "hm what would these be if they were real creatures?".

Also apologies for poor resolution I had to combine the images.

Garchomp: Great White Sharks

Firstly, it looks like a shark. It has the fins for it!!

Secondly, Great White Sharks "fly" out of water. And Garchomp's dex entry says it flies. (I've only seen it in the anime though)

And I saw somewhere say it's fast. I dunno what's considered fast for a shark tho.

Roserade: Desert Rose

(My original choice was a Venus flytrap, but it wasn't as Roserade like as I originally thought)

Okay so normal roses aren't poisonous, and I was determined to pick a toxic flower!!

This was the only desert rose I found that looks like this, so I'm not sure how real it is, but it has both purple and pink, the colors of Roserade's roses. (In the BDSP 3d sprite the blue looks a lot more purple)(+ Pink red, same thing basically)

The appearance fits the elegance Roserade puts off + it's toxic

Spiritomb: Albatross:

Spiritomb is a hard one, but Albatrosses are rumored to have souls of dead sailors. And Spiritomb is just a bunch of souls!! Best one I could find.

They're also endangered due to plastic in seas. (this is your reminder to not use plastic if possible) Endangered animals are rare

Arcanine: Border Collie Canine

Hisuian Arcanine is like the only dex entry that doesn't talk about it being elegant. But it talks about how it "dances" in battle, which wasn't literal dancing, but with quick speeds and graceful moves. Which could be considered elegant.

Elegance is subjective though and look at how elegant that fluffy boy looks!!

Arcanines are known for their speed and according to multiple websites Border Collies are in the top 10 speediest ones!!

I also needed a dog and a fluffy one, look at this baby!! It fits the vibe check!!

Lucario: Bonfire Kennel German Pinscher Canine

Tried so hard to find something that wasn't just a dog that looked like it but everything was pointing back to dogs.

Aura was similar to senses, so I was gonna find something with good senses, I could only think of dogs

Friendship evolution made me want to find something loyal, and dogs are known for loyalty

So I just picked a dog that looked like Lucario

Finally Togekiss: Blue Bird

The Togepi line is known for being a symbol of luck and happiness. So is the Blue Bird!! It's the only bird I could find that fit the vibe check and was both.

I needed a bird for her too (I think it's called a she by Volo in game, I'm not sure if that was just fan media tho)

Bonus:Giratina

Definitely some sort of snake.

Snakes are symbols for evil in many religions, Christianity, Judaism and Islam are some examples (and the first 3 I found when I googled this).

Giratina is like...Pokemon Satan, who's known to be the incarnate of evil in Christianity.

May I mention one of the main evils it resembled was destruction, and Giratina was known for wanting to destroy Arceus.

GUYS DON'T HATE SNAKES!! In other religions they symbolize good things + they're cool.

Okay so I actually did this since I keep tryna use Volo for RPS and needed an alternative for Togepi. That's what made me want to do his whole team.

Imagine him owning a massive shark like that casually. Pls.

Also Spiritomb was the only one who didn't really fit the vibe of an Albatross. So sorry Spiritomb!!

SOO normal about the exile part of pla actually. the way you leave the village in such a mirrored image of the way you entered. you enter walking slowly, cautious and afraid and alone. you don't know these people nor this town, and you are so scared.

Dorians got his shiny Buizel, I CAN MOVE ONTO THE MOUNTAIN AND BEGIN ELECTRODE (And subsequently Ingo muehehehehehe) I was beginning to think I'd have to gamble finding an Alpha shiny Buizel but nope! This one was just big enough!!!! THE HUNT IS DONE.... for now XD

And yes im doing shiny NPC pokemon because I wanted to torture myself somehow lol, and have fun bragging rights to say I did it XD

As far as my research is telling me, all I have left to hunt down is a shiny Nosepass, unless im wrong please correct me! I'm hoping I don't have to resort to using my completed file again but for real, Shiny Buizel was the LONGEST MOST DIFFICULT HUNT IVE EVER DONE ON AND OFF!!!!! He took literally a year to do, and if it took THAT long in a file WITH the shiny charm, imagine how long it would take without the charm and a 100% dex entry fjfjidiebrjdjahehfhchr

Petilil of all things was the second longest, she took a few weeks but I think she was under 2 months?? Its been a while. Besides Buizel every other shiny has been found in this specific in progress file XD

We don't have Ogerpon's situation on Kieran's death, his absence, and the reunion.

I don't want spoil the current fic I'm writing but tldr: Ogerpon is indifferent

If you go by what happened in game, she doesn't know Kieran. The player character and Carmine never gave her the chance to get to know Kieran like she did with the two of them. Their whole adventure happened without him. He did convince the townspeople about the story of the ogre being wrong but that was all off screen. It probably took a lot of work and courage from him and Ogerpon would probably be grateful but that's like, not something she was witness to see him doing.

To me Ogerpon has the mentality of a child almost. It's hard for children to grasp what they don't experience. Yeah he would leave her little presents and stuff at her den when he was younger but she was hiding. She doesn't know Kieran aside from a vague oh he is nice. And then Indigo Disk happens and he is suddenly mean and mad to see her. She probably doesn't even understand why.

So yea Ogerpon being told post Area Zero that Kieran died she'd probably be upset because she understands death, her trainer died, so she would feel for Carmine and the MC because people SHE cares about lost someone THEY care about. There is a level of emotional disconnect there. She is sad in the sense that somebody passed away more than she is that Kieran, specifically did.

And Carmine does not handle that realization well at all.

Genuinely so curious as to what it's like to be a pokemon fan who has never played a single pokemon mystery dungeon game. I know pmd is more niche than it's ever felt to me but it's still hard to believe 😭

So many pokemon can never just be species in my eyes they're simply regular fictional characters with backstories and personalities and in depth character development and conflict 2 me

Flufftober 1: Hand Holding. Ingo

Synopsis: After capturing the all-mighty Sinnoh and saving the Hisui region, there is a celebration in Jubilife Village to praise Y/N for her exploits! Ingo, unable to withstand the party, is surprised when she comes to him.

word count: <600

Too loud. Too crowded. Too much.

Too much.

His heart leaped suddenly. A warm hand wrapped in his. Fingers slotted between his own.

With that, the party was suddenly nothing more than a backdrop as his eyes slid to her worried expression. 

"Let's get away." Her voice was little more than a timid tremble. Her hand squeezed at his firmly. A silent plea.

Ingo let out a breath of relief as he walked with her. Heading westward, he happened to catch a glimpse of Irida's eyes in the crowd. She blinked and beamed, giving him an excited thumbs up as she took in the sight of both he and Y/N walking hand in hand.

Silently, they walked to Prelude Beach, listening only to the ocean lapping at the shore. He watched her sit, sighing in relief. "You're not enjoying yourself?" He asked.

"Not particularly," She admitted, looking to him. Ingo took the silent invitation and sat down beside her. "Are you?"

"I don't think I've ever been fond of crowds," He confessed, situating himself. He took in a deep breath of the salty air.

"So, why did you come to the party?" she asked, blinking at him as she pulled her knee to her chest and rested her head on it.

Ingo gulped thickly as he eyed her, her eyes practically illuminated by the moonlight and staring right into his. "I…wanted to be beside you," He admitted.

Y/N's small smile relieved and worried him. She moved closer and leaned against him, sliding her hand into his again. He squeezed it gently as she sighed in relief. "Thank you."

"Irida filled me in. On what really happened. Are you going to be alright?"

"Not really." Not even a hint of hesitation. "They were so quick to…I mean, I get it–Actually, no. I don't! I don't get it. I was working so damn hard. I helped. I was following orders!" She snarled.

Ingo blinked at that, watching her expression. Fury was coursing through her, he could feel as much in the trembling grip. But her face, oh her face told another emotion. 

She was heartbroken. Betrayed. Wronged.

Tears fell as she hiccuped softly. "I just don't understand," She whispered.

Ingo sighed and pulled her close. He wasn't sure what he could offer. For fear of taking sides, both clans left her ostracized. She only had her wits to keep her alive. No matter how he pleaded, Irida finally put her foot down.

"No. We cannot cause some war. She has to be strong," Irida sighed finally.

It wasn't about a war to him, all the same. It was about protecting someone who cared about the world around her and the Pokemon too. It was about saving the woman he loved from the wilds, and yet her own people she'd fallen to abandoned her.

In that moment, he was seeing her anger and fury for the injustice. Yet, he could see how she ached from it. He could see how it hurt her more than it angered her.

"I need to leave, Ingo," She sniffled, wiping her face as she sat up. "Could…Could I run away with you?"

His heart skipped as he squeezed her hand, gently raising his free hand to wipe her cheek of tears. "I'd rather you walk. Safer that way."

Y/N let out a bubbled giggle, leaning into his touch before kissing him gently.

Maybe some part of him secretly thanked the idiocy of the commander. If only, because it meant she was with him.
