12 and 17 Andy Barberđ
dreaming of a rainy spring morning
pairing: husband!andy barber x female reader
warnings: 18+ content (minors dni!!!), smut, dry humping, consensual somnophilia, piv sex, creampie, cockwarming, dirty talk, praise kink, very light bdsm, begging, teasing, pet names (wife, husband), sleepy cuddling, fluff, established relationship
word count: 1,200ish
a/n: i hope it's ok that i pulled from the smut prompt list instead of the fluff oneâthey were just more inspiring: âwhere are your manners?â + âbeg for it.â i wanted to do something soft and i had the idea for this because it's rainy here today (and i probably should've done more rainy day fics since it rains so much in the spring đ«Ł). anyway, hope you enjoy!! âĄâĄ
The rain was a steady pitter patter against the windows, a soft morning light trickling through the glass and casting a cool, gray glow over the chilly bedroom. You took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of earth and water that filtered through the cracked window that had been left open overnight. Letting your eyes flutter closed again, you reached blindly across the bed until your fingertips brushed against the familiar warmth of your husband, Andy Barber.
Outside, the rain picked up its pace and a fierce wind ruffled the newly sprouted leaves of the spring trees, but inside your home, you were safe and warmâand you had other things to concern yourself with. Like squirming across the bed beneath the blankets so you could curl around your husbandâs side, draping a leg over his thigh, feeling the hair on his tickling your skin.
With a soft sigh of relief, you settled in beside Andy, breathing in the familiar scent of his soap and feeling your body warm at his closeness. You tried to let sleep reclaim you, but there was a restlessness in youâa low, simmering heat in your core that didnât allow you to slip back into the comforting embrace of sleep. Instead, it smoldered until it refused to be ignored.
Sleepily, you shifted your body until you lay on top of your husband, your thighs on either side of his hips and your bare pussy pressing against his soft cock in his boxers. Youâd worn one of Andyâs t-shirts to sleep, but that was all you had on, while he wore his boxers and a t-shirt of his own. You grumbled a little at that, wishing you were pressed skin to skin with him, but you didnât want to make the effort to wake him and undress.
Instead, you rocked lazily against Andyâs bulge, feeling his cock twitch and come to life. A mischievous smile curled the edges of your lips as you felt him harden beneath you, his cock stiffening beneath your puffy folds. You slid your messy slit against him, your clit bumping against the tip in such a delicious way, you had to bite back a moan.Â
You still had your eyes closed, your cheek pillowed on Andyâs broad chest while you took your pleasure at a leisurely pace. But soon it wasnât enough. With as little movement as possible, you inched up Andyâs body until the tip of his cock was prodding against your slick hole. You were wet enough that he slipped in easily and you pushed back, taking the head into your tight, warm cunt.
âWhere are your manners?â Andy rumbled, his voice gruff with sleep and startling you a little. But there was a hint of teasing in his tone that made you smile, happy your husband was up to join you in your morning delight. âSo needy, wifeâyou canât even wait until your husbandâs awake to start playing with his cock, huh?âÂ
âSorry, husband,â you purred, not feeling sorry at all as you arched your back and pushed your hips down further on Andyâs hard length. âYou shouldnât have given me permission to do what I want while youâre sleeping if you didnât want to wake up with my needy pussy wrapped around your hard cock.â
Andy groaned, his hands lifting to your hips and, with a brutal shove, he impaled you the rest of the way on his length, stuffing you full with one move and wringing a sharp gasp from your lips. He grunted at the tight squeeze of your inner walls and pressed a kiss to your temple, his beard rasping against your skin and making you shiver.
âLove waking up to your perfect cunt on my cock, wife,â he rumbled, his hips thrusting up lazily while you moaned and rocked back onto his cock. âSo soft and warm and wet for meâyou feel perfect, wife, perfect.â
Your fingers sank into Andyâs thick hair and you guided his mouth to yours as best you could without opening your eyes, your lips finding one another in the dim light of the morning. Your husband kissed you as sweetly as heâd spoken his words of praise, filling you with every ounce of love in his heart while you poured your own back into him.Â
The soft clapping of your skin against his set a new rhythm in the room as the rain continued outside, but you were too wrapped up in your husband to notice anything beyond him. When your mouths finally parted, you gasped and moaned while he grunted and groaned beneath you, your bodies writhing together and seeking pleasure in each other.Â
âAndy,â you cried softly on a gasp, burying your face in his neck while your fingers curled in his hair, clinging on to him as ecstasy swirled through your body. âIâm gonnaâplease, husband,â you mumbled, knowing you didnât make sense, and knowing it didnât matter because Andy would know what you needed because of the way your pussy was fluttering around his thrusting length.
But it seemed your husband wanted to pay you back for waking him up early because his next words werenât a soothing acknowledgement of your looming release. They were a dirty demand, rumbled right into your ear.
âBeg for it.â
A whimper escaped your lips at the command, the gruff sternness in Andyâs voice only making your body clench tight as you barreled toward your release. You were so close that all you could do was submit and give Andy what he wanted.Â
âPlease, husband, please make me come,â you babbled, the words falling from your lips easily as you were driven by your need for satisfaction. âWanna come all over your big cock, wanna feel you spill inside meâplease, please, oh god, Andy, please!â
âGood girl,â he cooed in your ear, gripping your ass in his big hands, making you squeal as his fingertips dug into your plush softness. âNow, come,â he growled through gritted teeth, holding you still as he fucked up into you, bouncing your hips on his cock and grinding against your clit in just the right way to set you off.
You came with a scream that you muffled against Andyâs shoulder, your mouth open wide as you wailed in ecstasy, your whole body trembling as waves of pleasure washed over you. Andyâs arms flexed against your sides, holding you pinned down on top of him, your pussy rhythmically squeezing his cock while he rutted up into you. It wasnât long before he was groaning his own release, his cock twitching deep in your cunt as he came inside you.
When he was spent, Andy heaved a heavy sigh and sagged back into the bed, leaving you to stay sprawled across his chest, his softening cock still wedged in your pussy. Your chests were pressed so tightly together, you could feel his heartbeat pounding against his ribcage, and you smiled, ducking your face to press a kiss right against his sternum.
âGo back to sleep, wife,â Andy muttered, running his hand down your spine to soothe you. His soft touch made your muscles melt, and sleep crowded into your consciousness.
âYes, husband,â you mumbled, already halfway there.
Between the steady beating of Andyâs heart and the constant pitter patter of the rain against the windows, you were lulled back to sleep with a smile on your face. As you slept, you dreamt of your husband, and the love you felt when you were tucked safely into the warmth of his arms on a rainy spring morning.Â

Since your the queen of fluff, I had to make this request.
Itâs more an angst/comfort/fluff, but I want to see Alastor dealing with his girlfriend/lover having body dysmorphia. The comfort in O Mother Mine for him was beautifully portrayed and I want Alastor to provide comfort back. Cant wait to see what you writeđ©·đâ€ïž
This was - and still is - an ask that hit very much home for me. Struggling with my self image and a long, very taxing time living with an ED since my teens, I had to take my time writing this - Because with all this history weighing in my own back pocket, I wanted to write something my younger self would've found comfort in reading. Which is why there's a lot of my own experiences woven in. Thank you for this ask, my dear. And to all who fight the fight against their own head each day - I see you. And you are worthy of every bit and piece of love, external and internal. I let our dear deer take it from here.
TW: Explicit depictions & mentions of ED and body dysmorphia - 3k words
âWhy don't you want one? Do they look bad? Don't you like my chocolate chip cookies?â
Niffty stared at you, her one big eye glazed and watery, and you felt that at her whining remark all eyes were on you. Shit.
You had been at Charlie's group therapy activities for hours by now, everyone was exhausted and hangry enough for Vaggie to intervene and propose a lunch break. You managed to discreetly dodge every dish that was going around the table, making sure to have an alibi piece of bread and a few leaves of salad on your plate, just in case anyone would look at you funny, and it was good that you did. You glanced around the table to find Alastor of all people staring at you from the other side, and pretending obliviousness you turned to Angel with a smile, laughing at whatever he said, and shoved a few bits of salad into your mouth. âSee, I'm eating, all good.âÂ
You thought the worst was over when the others pushed their dishes into the middle of the table with content sighs and filled bellies. But then Niffty had been hopping around, offering everyone the masses of cookies she had been baking with Pentious the evening before, and Niffty was just not dodgeable.Â
âAw Niff, of course I do, and they look amazing! But I'm so full, stuffed, I really can't take another bite.â Perhaps you imagined it, but you thought you heard a static crack of feedback and you shot a quick glance over to Alastor, but he was drinking his After-Lunch coffee with closed eyes, detached and apparently trying to drown out the babbling sinners around him. Irritated, you turned to the little, pouting cyclops girl again, your voice purposely louder as you said âTell you what, I'll take one now and save it for later, okay? I can't pass up on your delicious treats, can I?â
That seemed to do the trick, and when you wrapped the cookie you took from a beaming Niffty into a napkin and slid it in your pocket, she and everyone else seemed satisfied and they turned their attention elsewhere - At least you hoped they were.
Another few long, dragging hours later Charlie finally released you all, and the communal groan of relief was only overlapped by the pitter-patter of multiple pairs of feet rushing behind Husk to the bar in desperate need for a strong drink. You were contemplating to join them, even if it was just for a glass of water, but that thought was instantly buried when Angel called over to you.
âOy, toots, come on and drag âya fat ass over here, I need âya to tell sourpuss here to let me pluck his overgrown eyebrows. Bitch is starting to look like Frieda Kahlo.â
It was an innocent, friendly-meant remark. You knew that. Angel was your friend, you knew that. The laughter that followed his call was a reaction to his crassness. You knew that. But your already aching stomach twisted, and it took everything in you to keep your face from crumbling, and the smile on your lips felt fragile when you answered.
âNo can do, Ange, Iâm heading to my room. I feel a headache coming up. See you guys later.â
You hurried out the hall as fast as you allowed yourself without looking like youâre fleeing, passing Charlie in vivid conversation with Alastor, throwing her a dismissive wave of the hand when she broke off in the middle of her sentence to ask if you needed anything and ignored the red eyes that were burning your back as you speeded to the lift.
For a moment you felt safe inside the elevator, closing your eyes and leaning back against the wall to deeply breathe in and out to calm your racing thoughts when the doors closed. But then you opened them again, your reflection was staring back at you from the mirrored wide wall of the lift cabin. You stared blankly at the hated body in front of you, eyes mapping every curve that was too wide, every point your clothes wrinkled over a roll of fat.Â
Oy toots, get your fat ass over hereâŠFat ass..Fat...
You ran out of the cabin the moment the 'ding' announced your arrival at your floor and the doors opened, vision blurry from the pooling tears. As soon as you slammed the door to your room shut and turned the key in the lock behind you, you sobbed, leaning your head on the hard wood of your bedroom door. Tears were streaking your face as you sank down to sit on the floor and wrapped your arms around yourself, shoulders shaking from suppressed and failed attempts to cry silently. The room was silent, but your head was loud. Too loud.
Honey, you can't go to school like that, you look like a stuffed sausage. Go back and changeâŠ
No, pumpkin, the hamburger is for daddy. Youâll eat a salad, like mommy. Donât you want to be as beautiful as mommyâŠ
A Bikini? Wow, someone's feeling brave today...
You'd look so beautiful babe, if you'd only lose a few pounds...
Oy toots, get your fat ass over here...
"Shut up, shut up, shut up." It was no use. Begging them to stop never helped. Your hands pressed down on your ears but they couldnât silence the insistent, ghostly voices inside, louder and louder and louder, repeating the same sentences over and over again and you wanted to rip them off, just to maybe get them out, deafen them, make themâŠ
âStop that now, Darling." Two hands that were not your own were on yours, long fingers peeling them away from your ears and taking them in tender but firm grips to pull your arms apart. Those foreign hands were dark and warm and much bigger than yours, holding you by the wrists as they pulled you away from the door and back onto your feet. Without releasing them, you felt a chest pressing against your back as the hands on your wrists guided them into an embrace, cageing you with crossed arms in front of you in warmth and the firm, humming body of Alastor. "There now, that's much better isn't it. Now breathe, dearest, with me. Do it with me."
Your mind was a haze of scattered and pained thoughts and fears that were struggling and lashing out to the surface, but they quieted into soft whimpers and whizzing like a dying steam train with every steady, deep inhale Alastor took with you, his chest rising against your back and his breath steady in your ears. He waited a few moments after he had made you breathe normally again before letting go and gently turning you to face him, hands now on your shoulders as you avoided his eyes, but when he looked at your face and your tear streaked cheeks he wiped the wetness away from your skin with the pad of his thumb.
"Why did you come?" You sounded husk and defeated. You knew your jig was up. You've been found out. At last.
"How did I not come sooner would be the better question, darling." Alastor answered, leaving his hand cupped on your cheek, thumb still in mid-stroke as he talked to your averted face. His voice was clear, even-keel, just loud enough for you to hear. And you heard him all the better for not facing him, his signature transatlantic accent and theatrical flourish in his tone, always so strong and prominent, was missing entirely as he continued. "For a few weeks now I've suspected that something was not right with you, my dear. Though I didn't want to press the matter, today has confirmed this. You've not eaten any of the food prepared, spare the few bits of greenery that wouldn't even nourish the roaches that pester this hotel, and we both know you only did because you knew you were being watched."
Watched by him. You sighed quietly at the accuracy, finally turning to look at him, awaiting to find judgment and ridicule, though the red deer demon didn't move at all. He just carried on his stroke with the thumb under your eyes, which started tearing up again, his expression strangely soft.
"My shadows reported that you were hiding food given to you just to throw it away later, and I took notice how you constantly avoided reflective surfaces. Darling, your image must haunt you and I cannot imagine the reason why. I find myself asking: What would drive you to starve yourself, to hide from mirrors and cut your eyes to any remarks looking for underlying maliciousness?"
What a loaded question, asked so simply. And he seemed honestly confused. No smirk, no tilted head. You paused for a long while before answering him.
"You... you won't understand, Alastor."
"Then help me to, darling." He coaxed you, now moving both his hands to hold your face and pull your head closer to lean his forehead to yours, looking firmly in your eyes. And it dawned on you then that the radio demon, the overlord who never revealed weakness, never showed real emotions or shared much with anyone, the one demon who walked these halls smiling and sneering with menace and mystery and endless pride, was purposely and genuinely showing you that he cared.
Maybe it was the fatigue and the despair finally getting the best of your defense system. Maybe it was because he wasn't just anybody. Alastor was so many things but most importantly, he was your friend, had been ever since you and him found mutual interests in each other in countless nights that were spent in quiet by the fireplace in the hall. He liked your level-headedness, your ability to listen, really listen, patiently and actively. You liked his vivaciousness, the vast knowledge of him that he could share when one was just willing to let him talk. Yes, the others were nice, and yes, you felt close to all of them after a few months. But you felt the closest to him, proven by the fact that not Charlie knocked on your door, or Angel noticed you were paler and thinner than weeks ago. But Alastor. Maybe you just needed that final push and he had given it to you.
So you spilled. Through sobs, tears and sighs, you told him everything:
From your family that wouldn't stop comparing you with your thinner friends, fostering a hatred for food because of misguided care. You shared that your health became less and less important with every diet and lost pound, seeing your aching stomach as a sign of sucess. How you'd hate yourself for lack of discipline when you starved yourself so much your brain snapped and you ate any- and everything you found until you felt sick and disgusting. How your friends while alive were never intentionally hurtful, yet dismissive about your insecurities, complaining to you about their sizes while you felt like they were mocking you, being stick thin and conventionally beautiful. And you told him about your one and only boyfriend, who accepted the relationship under the pretense that you'd change to fit his preferences, always waiting for you to drop weight he saw as too much, to shape you the way he wanted you to be, threatening to keep you secret from his friends and family until you did. And you did. But you paid the bitter price - got cheated on while you counted calories, and when you finally reached the set weight he dictated, he left. Leaving you hungry and confused, thin and sick and so, so lost.
With every word his hold on you grew tighter and tighter. But so did yours on him. This time, it was him who listened quietly, never interrupting, and only at the mention of that asshole ex is when he made a sound, his ears went flat against his skull as a low growl rumbled in his throat, but his expression remained perfectly stoic, absorbing your words quietly. After you finished you leaned heavily against Alastors chest and hid your face there, feeling drained and guilty for soaking his expensive coat with your pitiful tears. Your entire body was numb with exhaustion and pain, so was the emptiness inside of you that your self-deprecating thoughts have been inhabiting for years, and you dreaded the response Alastor could give to your pathetic life-story.
"All those people have proven to you to be thoroughly disappointing." was what Alastor said first, speaking very softly with his chin leaning against your scalp. "It makes the blood call for revenge when thinking about the throes you've had to put up with. You don't owe anybody to change anything about yourself that you do not wish to."
You couldn't hold back another tear that rolled down your nose and onto Alastor's shirt, clinging tighter to him and shaking your head against his shoulder, nuzzling his shirt in desperate and trained denial of comforting words.
"Aren't they right though? I'm not like Charlie, or Angel, or even you. I'm not...they are so⊠just... look at me." You muttered and tried to push out of the hug to avoid looking him in the eye, but the demon didn't give.
"Oh, I am." He gave you a stern stare, unintimidating and almost tender as he pulled you back closer. "Darling, I am looking at you, more than you think. And all I see is a strong, intelligent and beautiful little sinner, so willing to give everyone more grace and gentleness than herself that she hides from every compliment she deems unworthy of her, ashamed of her lovely shape that was the source of so much torment." Alastor sighed, cupping your face in a loose grip, shaking his head in disbelief. "Everyone of us has flaws, we are inherently imperfect creatures, some more than others, and yet you've managed to convince yourself those flaws and imperfections define you in their entirety."
Your instincts told you to flee, to run from this kindness that was offered to you so alluringly. It has to be a trap, your head told you, don't trust those words, don't give in. And you almost tried to, your muscles tensed as if to bolt, your breath quickened as if about to run, your heart pounded as if preparing to fight his arms for release. But you didn't.
Maybe, a long forgotten voice spoke in your mind, maybe it wasn't a trick. Maybe he was earnest, like he had been the past couple months in your company. He's here now, isn't he? Holding you and reassuring you and calming you in a way no one ever had. He hadn't put an inch between him and you to allow your doubts space to creep back in, keeping you at his side - not just now, but over the last weeks continuously, had never spoken ill of you or tried to change you, had no agenda, nothing to gain from lying to you.
Alastor smiled when you sank back into his arms, and this time when he stroked your tears away, he let his fingers come to rest at your chin, tilting your head up to meet his gaze. And without a word he leaned forward, eyes half closed, and kissed you on your cheek. His lips lingered for a moment, as if to wait for your reaction, asking a question without words. And you answered it ever so silently, turning your head to meet them with your own.
The kiss was a revelation of truth. Because he was kissing you the way you always longed to be kissed.
There wasn't passion in it, it wasn't hungry and fast or hard and demanding. It wasn't meant to make you hot or make your legs weak, but to tell you that you were cared for, that you were accepted exactly the way you were, imperfections included, and that all the days you've suffered for the wrong reasons were gone with the past and needn't to be re-visited. That you were enough. You always have been.
When he parted from you, Alastor looked content. More than that, actually. Not smiling wide as usually but with eyes sparkling in mirth that could have easily matched that of Charlie on a particularly good day. When he leaned into you again, you almost expected another kiss, but he reached into your pocket, pulling the napkin with Niffty's cookie inside out of your pocket, holding it up expectantly.
"Now, I think it's high time you feed yourself, darling - and you did promise our little Niffty you'd enjoy this later, which it is now."
You stared, first at Alastor, then at the baked good, the guilty conscience you've nursed for so many years creeping back into your thoughts.
"Alastor, I don't know... if I can."
He tilted his head contemplating, turning the cookie in his hand before he snapped it in half, handing you one half while he brought the other to his mouth and raised a brow.
"We'll share it then."
This gesture was everything. It was everything, because you knew he really didn't care for sweet treats. But he cared for you.
You took your half from his hands, feeling the corners of your lips pull into a small smile at the way he scrunched his nose at the sticky thing in his hands when you both bit in. But his free hand found yours, entwining your fingers as he suffered through his bite, and as you watched him him struggling to keep an unfazed expression, you thought that - while Niffty might've put in her best efforts - nothing she or anyone could make could ever sate your hunger more than his lips could.
Tagging my lovely testreaders @bapple117 and @macabr3-barbi3, who really encouraged and reassured me. I love you both, as well as the others in Bapples discord server (TRUST US and join NOW) who never tire of lifting me up when I'm struggling <3

One Moment of Forever
Todoroki Shouto x ReaderWord count: 1,786 Summary: When Shouto is forced to take a break from work due to a quirk injury, the two of you decide to go on a camping trip to your favorite lakeside spot.
Genre: Fluff, established relationships, camping, nature therapy, pet names (love) Note: My entry for andypantsx3âs pretty boy summer collab. This fic is also a part of the @ficsforgaza initiative - thank you so much to those who sponsored it!! đđđ Check out my list of WIP's here! This is my first time writing Shouto, not sure I got him exactly rightâŠ
Your oar slips through the water, near-silent. The air is full of the song of birds. A couple take off from a tree, weaving between each other in a dance, their wings skirting the water of the river before they land in a tree on the opposite bank. You canât help but smile at the scene.
Water laps at the bow of the canoe. Behind you, Shouto is quiet. Content with just sitting in silence, enjoying the early morning. Itâs one of the things you love about him. Heâs just as happy in a comfortable silence as he is listening to you talk. He doesnât mind either way.
Leaves rustle on the riverbank and a doe steps out from the undergrowth, moving towards the river to drink. You suck in a quiet breath as first one fawn, then a second, follow the doe. Theyâre small, their legs still unmanageable, white spots bright against tawny fur. You canât imagine them being more than a few days old.Â
Shouto shifts behind you, steering the canoe further towards the opposite bank in an attempt to keep the doe from bolting. Your head swivels as you slowly drift by, watching the fawns nurse, their little tails wiggling happily. When you deem them at a safe distance, you turn fully, beaming at Shouto.
âSo cute!â you whisper.
He responds with a soft smile. âVery.â
You look at him for a moment. Itâs early enough that the sky is still a gorgeous display of orange and pink, rising sun hidden behind the trees. The light limns him with gold. Despite having lived together for years, you are still occasionally struck by just how beautiful he is. Especially at moments like this, outlined in soft morning gold, a gentle breeze playing with his hair. He looks ethereal, like some immortal being from a fairytale.
Shouto tilts his head, puzzled.
âIs everything alright, love?â
You smile at him.Â
âYeah. Just admiring the view.â
You have Bakugou to thank for this experience, you reflect as you pull the canoe onto the narrow strip of sand surrounding the lake. He was the one who introduced Shouto to camping long before the two of you met; and he was the one who introduced both of you to this campsite. Itâs one of your favorite places to spend a few days off with Shouto. Itâs small, but very well kept. Top tier amenities. And being a campsite specifically for pro heroes and their families, it requires reservations, meaning itâs never crowded. Any heroes youâve run into on your previous stays would do a brief smile and nod -at most a moment of small talk- before they move on. They want to relax and unwind just as much as the two of you do. No one wants to talk about work.
This time, though, the campsite is empty except for you and Shouto. You were lucky -so to speak- that Shoutoâs quirk-strain happened during the off season or the place wouldâve been fully booked. Heâs on strict orders to only use his quirk for emergencies and to spend his time off in rest and relaxation. And this campsite is the most relaxing vacation spot youâve come across so far.
Clouds blow in later in the morning, the gentle pitter-patter of rain steady against your tent. Shouto has dozed off while you read, his breathing soft and even. Every breath weaves together with the sound of the rain, with the smell of petrichor. You find it difficult to keep your eyes open. Then Shouto rolls onto his side, one arm draping around your middle. He pulls you closer, face pressing into your neck. His body is sleep-warm, his arm laying heavily over you.Â
You canât resist anymore. âFine!â you mumble, putting your book away and settling in for a nap.
Shouto mumbles something in reply, pressing a gentle kiss against your throat.
The rain has stopped by the time you wake. Shouto is still asleep, molded against your back, clinging to you as he usually does. He once confessed while only half awake that he worried you would leave. That someone would steal you away. The confession happened years ago; youâve shown him time and again that youâre not going anywhere, that this unknown someone would have to drag you away kicking and screaming. And still he clings to you like a burr while asleep. You donât really mind, though. If that is what he needs to sleep peacefully, then youâre more than happy to relax into his warm embrace. It makes you feel treasured and safe. And youâve grown so accustomed to Shoutoâs arms around you that you find it difficult to sleep when he isnât next to you.
Shouto stirs. You more feel than hear the soft groan he lets out as he wakes. Almost as if his body is fighting to stay asleep. He pulls you closer, pressing a kiss to your bare shoulder.
âWhat time is it?â he mumbles, voice rough from sleep.
âAbout 2,â you reply, rolling over to press your face into Shoutoâs neck. âYou can go back to sleep if you want.â
âNo,â he replies, sounding more awake. âIf I do, I will be unable to sleep tonight. I would rather spend my time with you.âÂ
You spend a while cuddling, talking, basking in each othersâ company. Something you both feel doesnât happen nearly often enough in your daily lives. Then you carry on with your day.
The ground is slick under your feet. Each step you take is carefully measured. Youâd forgotten just how steep part of the trail looping around the lake is. A hike right after a rainfall wasnât your brightest idea. Still, the view is amazing.
You pause at the top of the last hill, wiping your brow. The lake spreads out in front of you, waters reflecting the gray skies. You can see your tent by the beach, a splash of red amongst green. It reminds you of the first ripe berry on a bush.
The thought of berries makes your stomach growl. Itâs almost time for dinner.
You turn to Shouto. He looks completely unbothered by the ascent, not a hint of a flush on his face, his breathing calm and even. Itâs unfair sometimes, how effortless physical exertion can be for him. At the same time youâre quite satisfied not having to fight villains on a regular basis.
âReady for the last stretch?â you ask.
Shouto just nods.
You start down the hill, every step careful. Turning your head, to take one last peek at the view.Â
And then you slip.
Your back instantly collides with Shoutoâs chest, his arms coming up to steady you. He seems as solid as a boulder, waiting patiently as you get your feet back under you. You have half a mind to just sag in his arms and demand he carry you back down the trail. You know he would do it in a heartbeat. But heâs meant to rest.
âAre you alright, love?â he asks when you donât move.
You sigh in defeat, finally standing up straight. âIâm fine,â you say, looking back at him. âJust surprised.â
Shouto returns your gaze, lips pressed tight with silent concern. You look at him for a moment, before your eyes flick to the sky behind him. The clouds are the same steely-gray hue as his right eye. You can almost see them roll as theyâre blown away. The sky should be clear soon.
The sun breaks out almost as if on cue, slanted early-evening rays highlighting the soft waves on the lake, the water sparkling. You point it out to Shouto.
âA quick dip before dinner?â you ask.
Shouto just looks at you for a moment. âIt will not be too cold for you?â
You scoff. âOnly one way to find out!â
You stare into the glowing embers of the campfire, a blanket wrapped tightly around your shoulders.Â
The dip in the lake was a less-than-great idea. Despite being heated from the hike, and despite making sure your hair stayed dry, you can still feel the chill of the water. It wasnât too bad as long as you kept moving. Still, youâre happy that the two of you decided on spicy curry for dinner tonight.
Shouto shifts next to you.
âHow are you feeling, love?â he asks.Â
âBetter,â you reply. âStill a bit cold, but the hot food is helping.â
âWould you like to come on a brief walk with me?â he asks.
You look at him for a moment. âTo where? Itâs almost dark.â
A smile tugs at the corner of Shoutoâs lips. âTo the store by the office. I thought an after dinner treat might be in order.â
You stand, beginning to put out the fire. âBetter hurry then, they close soon.â
The little store run by the office is stocked with a few necessities and of course snacks. But you notice something you havenât seen before on your way to the till. Fireworks.
You stop, tugging on Shoutoâs sleeve. Pointing at the small display, you ask, âWanna get some sparklers?â
The two of you take the sparklers down to the beach, and -much to your protest- Shouto lights them with his quirk, claiming that such a small effort it would be no hindrance in his recovery.
You both crouch on the sand, watching the sparklers burn. Peeking at Shouto for a moment, you find his focus trained on the sparkler in his hand, the sparks reflecting in his eyes. You look away again, trying your best to curb your laughter. He is like a little kid sometimes, behaving like he is experiencing something for the very first time. Itâs one of the many things you love about him.
You sit still long after the last sparkler has died out, pressed against Shoutoâs warmer side, his arm looped around your back. The lake is quiet, the reflections of stars bobbing on its soft waves. You turn your face skyward, a silent breath escaping you at the beauty above. Turning to Shouto, you see the stars reflected in his eyes, much like the sparklers did earlier.
Burrowing closer against him, you press a kiss to his cheek.
âIâm happy we came here,â you say, laying your head on his shoulder, âeven if it was because of your injury.â
Shouto hum in agreement, then you feel his lips brush against the top of your head.Â
The two of you sit for a while longer, watching the stars, enjoying the quiet night.Â
We should make sure to spend more time like this, you think. The two of you enjoying each otherâs company. Watching the world go by.Â
One moment of forever with him.

Little Things! Astarion x Reader HCs
A/n: đ€đ€ Iâm just gonna say it, yaâll donât have enough casual domestic relationship headcanons in these tags. To much smut. Yâall need some water, come up for air or something good god I love yâall but drink some fucking water đ So have some HCs of Tav and Astarion in Act 1. GN! Tav with no class/race as always UwU Also thank you so much for all the likes and kind words on my last post! I plan on opening my requests soon so be sure to follow to stay updated on when that happens. đâșïž Enjoy!
Was it even possible for someone to be annoyed⊠and pleased at the same time? Could a contradiction even exist? Yes. It could. And it baffled Astarion. Sure you had a pretty face, a nice laugh, a way with words⊠A shimmer in your eyes⊠a crooked grin that barely broke a smirk⊠The faint and unmissable sound of your heart beat⊠A smell so signature he could pick it up in the subtle breeze.
Just with the shift of wind and now he was tossing and turning in his tent. Huffing and throwing his blanket over half his face. Thoughts racing with you now, all the way on the other side of camp and no where near him. Not even in his sight. And still you were in his mind.
How annoying. This was just a misguided, maybe even a malicious attempt at forging an alliance. So why did he feel so⊠bad? His red eyes couldnât close so he just stared at the fabric wall of his tent. A blank but also bitter stare on his face.
Out of all the books he read, and he read a lot, none of them actually showed him what real was. What was real passion? Not the mask he wore. What was real conviction and adoration? All he knew was what heâs done for centuries. And this was nothing but uncharted and unfamiliar territory.
So why was it your delightful and diluted scent in the wind alone just enough to send him reeling? He couldnât know, or didnât dare to wonder.
These little things didnât stop there. During the day youâd bounce up to him with a skip in your step⊠that equally would send a skip right into his ribs and tore up his lungs. With big bright eyes youâd show him something random, something you found, something you made⊠it didnât matter.
Just the way you beamed with a radiant smile the sun could be jealous of, it was enough for a snide back handed comment that could be confused for a flirt, âOh darling, for me? You shouldnât have, you might just be one of my most devoted fans,â Normally a line like this worked. Either it would send the conversation towards the bedroom or someone left standing alone.
Neither happened. You just rolled your eyes, gave a little laugh and said, âA fan? In your dreams,â And go on chatting like before, unfazed by his little remarks. You were an enigma to him.
Especially during times after a battle. It was always such a gentle touch, when youâd place a hand on his shoulder and praise him for his good work and efforts in the battle.
If vampires had blood to blush he would. He didnât understand why he wanted to hear more of it, âThat was a good job you did out there today,â or maybe it was the way you said, âYou did amazing,â He could listen to praises all day. He never knew how much he enjoyed them before.
Letâs not forget, he could hear your heartbeat. Not yours alone. Everyone had a different rhythm and rhyme. For instants Shadowheart, her heart was slow, sad, faint but still beating away with life. Astarion could hear it, just the same as Laeâzel who seemingly had no heart beat at all until the surprising thumb of it came every hour or so. He could hear yours too. Rattle away within your bones. And he paid close attention.
Normally these âskillsâ of listening to hearts were used to hunt out a target for his master. But with no master and a band of fools, he still used these skills unbeknownst to himself.
Heâd listen with eyes glued to a book. Youâre heart pitter pattered like any other. But sometimes itâd start racing, picking up speed. Not to long ago a racing heart was the first step into picking a target, since the heart never lies and when a fool looked Astarionâs way if their heart sang that song he knew who would be his unfortunate soul.
But no, this time he just peered from over his book and watched you stare off into the distance, into the darkness of the woods. To his surprise there wasnât a glance his way or even at anyone. Your heart only raced for fear it seemed. Even when you looked at him or shared a conversation, the same steady beat flowed.
It was something little like this, these little things only he knew as they festered in his mind. They ached within him. He hid it well but it wretched at his organs and plucked at his fibers every time. It was annoying. It was⊠wonderfulâŠ
It was terrifying. The way his breathe would catch when youâd ask him to join you. The way he actually felt anger, as petty as it was, when you asked him to stay back at camp.
Or maybe when heâd hear just the sound of your voice, distant on the other side of camp, muffled, not even loud enough to hear what you were saying but just enough to hear your voice. How strange that something so little as that was enough to ease him into sleep.

                                       ...
You couldn't sleep.
It was raining relentlessly outside, the pitter-patter of water droplets hitting your window. Storm clouds boomed loudly outside, and despite the blinds being pulled tightly shut, lightning occasionally flashed through the cracks, elongated shadows of buildings forming on the walls.
Counting down the seconds until you'd hear the rumbling thunder, it would only be a few kilometres away, and you'd shudder at the sound, shivering.
While tossing and turning in bed, you had kicked off your covers and were staring at the ceiling, still wide awake. Normally, a storm like this would be like a lullaby to your ears, yet now it did nothing in helping lull you to sleep.
Even if you wanted to sleep, how could you when those corpses haunted your nightmares?
Laying in bed, your mind replayed the same scenes like a movie reel, the same screams like a broken record:
Lifeless, unblinking eyes with mouths agape and an expression of fear permanently engraved on their pale faces; flies swarming in hordes to harvest the soft tissues of the irises and tongue, eating the human mush; limbs contorted in unnatural positions, arms and legs crushed by the force of detonated mines, bones broken under the weight.
Rumbling roaring of machine guns and the deafening explosions from hand grenades meant that the high-pitched ringing would drown out everybody's yelling, muffle all noise from your surroundings, and you'd only be pulled out of your daze when you'd find yourself stumbling on unstable ground, on bricks and cheap concrete that had all crumbled.
Bodies would drop so fast it'd take at least seconds for you to register whether it had been an enemy or an ally.
You'd pull the trigger, but seeing a bullet go through someone's forehead and the exaggerated shock stamped on their face â a permanent expression in their final seconds remaining forever in death â left you wondering why you would ever sign up willingly to do this.
Disorientated, you'd struggle to pull yourself together, would enter far too many close calls for a soldier to count, and would only get a grip once you saw a familiar face, a reminder that you weren't alone in the warzone.
Even now, the sonorous sound kept echoing in your head, and, if you listened closely, it resembled hundreds of hoarse shouts, so many people screaming at once in collective agony.
You flinched as a bolt of lightning suddenly struck the sky.
Sparing an absentminded glance at your digital alarm clock, your eyes widened slightly at the time: 1:56am.
Damn... you thought. ...it's that late already?
Drills would begin at 7 o'clock, and you had to have woken up at 6 to brush your teeth, get dressed, eat, and mentally prepare yourself for the day, so you kissed a good night's sleep goodbye, and accepted the telling off from your superiors the following morning for under-performing.
...Still, how could you sleep after what you had experienced? What you experienced and would continue experiencing?
Accepting high-pressure missions and a demanding workload once you had enlisted, you thought that your ability to keep calm under pressure and stay composed would mean that you would have been unaffected by the shooting by now, and be taking everything in your stride. Calm, composed, and unaffected, is what you had thought you'd be. Surely you'd be able capable enough to cope with it all?
Yet, you weren't any of those things. Never getting used to the stress that would persist even while on supposedly "low-intensity" extractions. You'd always be on edge, always recoiling at hands that would reach over to tap your back as encouragement or hold your shoulder in reassurance on base.
You believed you could never familiarise yourself with the panic and unpredictability of missions and being hyper-aware of something, anything, everything going wrong, with the adrenaline that would course through your body and take over your senses in times of fight or flight, with the nerves that would keep you on edge hours after landing safely on base.
But, most of all, with the nights you'd lay in bed, unable to fall asleep: nights like these, when every time you closed your eyes, you saw the eyes of dying comrades; when every time you walked along the corridors, imagined yourself diving across the floor and felt shattered shrapnel breaking under your feet; when every time you sat in an empty room, heard ear-piercing blasts and the ricochet of discarded shells just missing your head.
Whereas the other operators seemed to be completed unmoved by any of their deployments and would shrug their shoulders off of the events, the anxiety for you lingered, trauma deep within your soul consuming you whole.
How could you ever get over the fact that you were shooting real people? Losing real soldiers?
...Losing yourself along the way?
All this work took a toll on your psyche, but comparing yourself to the other soldiers made you feel like such a coward, and second-guess ever enlisting in the first place.
...Well, you did so because it had been your only option all things considered, but looking back on it, you thought that maybe it would have been better if you hadn't chosen anything at all.
Accepted the grave nature of your failures in life, the same life that would have had inevitably ended with you pre-maturely in a grave.
After all, you had no job prospects to look forward to, no dreams to strive for, no aspirations to achieve.
Failing your school exams time and time again until you had finally achieved a result that was good enough didn't earn you any security, as you weren't exactly employable with grades you had just barely managed to claw to even pass.
Really, it was hopeless. You were hopeless.
To say your family was disappointed in you would have been an understatement. Out of three children, you were labelled the disappointment child, the underachiever and failure.
Your two siblings worked as a lawyer and an engineer respectively, while you had never even been able to grasp the basics in education, never spoke with your teachers of anything other than the worrying results of your exams, never came home to share a thing with your parents you had accomplished with a smile of pride stretched on your young face like your siblings did.
Never. Because you weren't ever good enough.
At the dinner table, your siblings boasted of promotions and of revolutionary research, of trials and of successes, of their brilliant breakthroughs, as you sat on the side of the table, listening from the sidelines, excluded from all of the grandeur that you couldn't relate to.
Still, it was always better to keep your mouth shut than to make a dent in the conversation, further embarass yourself and prove how lowly you were, than to have so many pairs of pitying eyes talking down on you in patronising tones, of the subtle condolences from your parents and their regret with triumphant smirks and condescending attitude from your siblings.
In a last ditch effort to make your parents proud, you made the decision of joining the military. You were young and impressionable, under the impression that your parents would finally be impressed.
...Of course, they weren't. In fact, your decision made them even more disappointed, shaking their heads sympathetically with strained smiles stretched on their lips.
Maybe that was the reason you couldn't handle the pressure of the military, you thought. You were weak, incompetent. Pathetic.
Although no one told you explicitly or made you feel that way directly, somehow, you always had felt inferior. Somehow, you felt that no matter what you did, how much you did, how well you thought you did, you wouldn't ever come close to the others's level.
That, despite your effort and dedication, you would never be good enough. Would always be inferior no matter what, because you always had been and would always be so.
...Your Colonel never made you feel that way, though, and you never quite understood why.
After all, your interactions were few-far-and-inbetween. It made you wonder what made you feel this way, and what spark ignited the warmth you'd feel when he was around.
Although a man of few words, the words that he did say to you would matter, though. His praise, his acknowledgement, his always being there made you want to keep going and prove your worth to him.
It started off as sporadic encouragement:
Your skin glistening with sweat, an accented voice would say "Gute Arbeit," over your crumpled body on the gym mat.
Offering you a gloved hand, you grasped it gratefully, and he pulled your tired body with ease. "Good job, King."
A lopsided smile from you as you'd wipe the sweat from your forehead and brows after sparring with someone else, limp limbs barely keeping you standing. His eyes were betrayed no emotion under his veil, yet a thin-lipped grin was behind it.
"Thankâ youâ sir!" You'd manage to breathe out, still panting for breath. "I didâ my best, butâ I didn't win."
"That does not matter," he'd say, speaking in a tone you couldn't quite recognize. "Very good job. Keep it going. Soon, you'll be able to pin even me down."
You'd laugh weakly at his words, yet would immediately feel a surge of motivation to keep working hard, and would train up to the point of exhaustion behind closed doors. Thinking you'd be alone, you'd punch a dufflebag with grunts of effort, missing the tall silhouette observing you with crossed arms in the corner, satisfied.
Then, those became casual greetings;
"Guten Morgen, soldier. Nice day, ja?"
Turning around, you'd see your Colonel walking towards you, frame visible even from a distance.
You smile broadly, eyes crinkling up in genuine joy, before you caught yourself and coughed. "Y-yeah!"
"Always a nice day whenever you're around, sir," you'd tease, playfully winking at him as he approached you, yet you were yet to master it without blinking both eyes.
He'd chuckle heartily, flattered, then shook his head to hide how his face flushed under his veil, and held up a hand.
"Thank Gott I have you here. My day would have been ruined."
"Have a good day, sir!" You'd call after him brightly, and he'd turn around for a final time with a two-fingered salute. Strange, since he was your superior, not the other way around, but you shrugged this off as a friendly gesture.
Until it developed into a sort of mutual connection.
In your eyes, at least.
You didn't want to assume that you two were friends, as the man was way out of your league. Strong, muscular, and a disciplined soldier â a Colonel, no less â a man of influence.
Besides, he, conversing with the only-recently-recruit-turned-soldier that was the slowest to understand a joke, did not comprehend complicated terms, and was the least bright out of the entire faction was not something you wanted him to be associated as, didn't want to tarnish his reputation.
You reasoned that you didn't want to bring down the Colonel down to your low level, so you kept your relationship as just that; associates. Aquaintances. Nothing more, out of respect for your Colonel.
Little did you know, the Colonel had developed a soft spot for you.
It seemed as though the storm had gotten worse, as the rain was unrelenting, and the tapping on the glass increased with force. Booming thunderclouds made your room shake.
A sigh as you turned to your side again. 2:07am.
Your thoughts moved back to your Colonel, and you started missing him, longing for him. The warmth that radiated off him made you wish he'd take you in his arms, hold you close to his chest, and you suddenly felt so cold. So lonely and cold.
Maybe it was childish of you to be feeling this way â he was your superior, after all, and you had no reason to be so attached â yet your daily encounters made you gain feelings for the man. Made you feel things when he was around.
Somehow, he brought you security. Made you feel protected. Safe. Like you could always count on him for having your back.
Made you forget that you were so useless, and was the reason for the fuzzyness within your chest, the buzzing feeling you'd feel as you'd be grinning from ear to ear after speaking to him.
Made you feel like you weren't pathetic. Weren't a wasted wishing star. Instead, you were appreciated, seen, even.
You wanted to see him. You wanted to be with him.
...Would he want you, though?
No. Of course he wouldn't. You weren't good enough.
A deep sigh. 2:15, the digital alarm clock displayed.
...What if he actually did want you? Not even as a partner, but just to be around him? Breathe the same air as him? You thought you weren't worthy of his time, but maybe, just maybe he wouldn't see it as such a waste.
Another crash of lightning brought you to your senses.
Finally making up your mind, you huffed in exertion as you pushed yourself off your stiff mattress, not bothering to organize the mess of blankets on the floor.
Walking with certainty, before you realised it, you were at König's bedroom door. Standing behind the door, hand hesitatingly reaching for the handle, you bit your lip, confidence wavering.
Should you really go through with this right now? What if he was asleep at that moment and all you'd do is disrupt his slumber? It wouldn't be fair of you to disturb him so late in the night, especially when he had so many responsibilities.
Still, you inhaled deeply, and, as quietly as you could, knocked twice.
You almost jumped out of your skin at the familiar accented voice of your Colonel.
"Come in," he said hoarsely. His tone was almost warm, inviting, yet you shook your head at the idea, and pulled the handle.
Entering inside, you slowly closed the door behind you. When you turned around, König was sitting on the edge of his bed, elbows resting on his knees, seemingly deep in thought. Wearing a tank top and cargo pants, his head was hung low, his veil hanging loosely over his head.
The blinds were drawn open to reveal the sky dominated by darkness, the grey curtain of monochrome on the nearest buildings cast down by the clouds, the raindrops that remained on the windows and the rhythmic echoes against the pavement as they dropped in syncopation.
The sight, his presence, were both so... relaxing. In a way, your anxiety was relieved by the tranquility of the scene, and it made you forget the internal turnoil you had been going through for the past few hours, made the tension in your body fade.
"Ah, King," his arms dropped to his sides and he raised his head to meet your eyes in the dark. "I had a feeling that it would be you."
You fidgeted nervously, not knowing what to do.
"Bitte, schön," he said, patting the empty space beside him on the mattress. "Please, sit down. I insist."
Slowly lowering yourself to his side, you sat at a reasonable distance away from him. With the both of you sat down, the size difference was still very noticable. His height made him hunch over you, and one of his thighs was like the two of yours combined.
So nervous, you didn't even notice how his back slumped so you'd be both at a similar level.
He cleared his throat. "What brings you here so late in the night?"
An awkward tug of your t-shirt collar.
"Can't sleep," you stated simply.
"I see." He was quiet for a few moments. Then: "And you decided that my room was the place to go?"
Your face heated up, and you averted your gaze. "Well, sir, it's j-juâ"
"âNein," he cut you off, holding up a hand to stop you. "I have told you so many times not to call me that. Call me König."
"Butâ but you're my superior," you gasped, mouth agape. "You deserve to be addressed with respect! I couldn't possiblyâ"
The protest died on your lips again as the man shook his head, the loose material of his veil following his movements. "Nein. None of that matters. I want you to call me by my first name."
A heavy silence lingered over the two of you, words left unsaid by you both.
"So," König prompted, "what brings you here, King?"
Pausing to think over a pretence, the best you could come up with was: "The storm scared me."
"Ja?" Even with the fabric covering his face, you could almost see the skeptical smirk on his lips.
"A soldier like you afraid of loud clouds? Some rain?" He chuckled.
"Really, I'd have thought you better than that, King." If you didn't know him well enough, you'd have thought he was mocking you, yet despite the sarcasm his eyes held a genuine concern for you.
An bashful laugh escaped you as you rubbed your arm, nails slightly digging into your skin.
"Okay, tell me the truth, King," Leaning forward, his tone became serious. "I know for certain you aren't scared."
He searched for your eyes, yet you avoided his gaze.
"Something is troubling you. Is that it?" He cocked his head to the side, fabric falling loosely over his shoulder. "You can tell me, King. I am your superior, you know. You should tell me these things."
"Well... it's j-justâ"
You bit your lip, willing the tears to stay in your eyes.
Don't cry. Don't you dare cry.
König watched you, patiently waiting for you to continue.
You swallowed the lump in your throat, vulnerability showing in your eyes. "âThis recent mission, it wasâ it was really, really difficult. And I just..."
König shuffled towards you until your knees were almost touching, watching you intently. As your body trembled, a hand hovered in uncertainty by your shoulder.
Sniffling, you wiped the wetness on your face with your arm, voice breaking.
"I-I just think that I'm not strong. That I'm... weak. Notâ not good enough to be working with people that are so much better. So much strongerâ"
Your breath hitched in your throat, voice coming out in a broken sob. "âI-I meanâ I'm so pathetic. I shouldn't be so... weak. I should â I should be better. Wh-whyâ"
Tears flowed freely down your face. "âWhy can't I be better, König? Why am I soâ so useless?"
Without saying anything, König wrapped his strong arms around your body and pulled you against his chest, pulled you close so you could let it all out. For a few moments, he let you cry, ever-so-gently stroking the back of your head, fingers running through your hair. Weeping into his chest, his steady breathing soothed you.
Once you recovered enough from your emotions, you pulled away, downcast. Face red and blotchy with tears, eyes puffy and pink from crying, lips quivering and voice hoarse, you felt so pathetic. So, so pathetic.
"F-fuck, s-siâ Königâ" Trembling. "I'm so so sorry. I'm too emotional, please, I'm sorâ"
"Nein." His tone was soft, yet firm. Definitive. "You have nothing to apologise for, King."
Both hands cupped the sides of your face, tentatively tilting your face upwards. His expression was forlorn, and you felt tears brimming in your eyelids again.
"...You're not weak. You're not pathetic. You're not useless. I see you always trying so hard, King, always giving it your all..."
He paused for a few moments, deliberating over how best to put his thoughts into words. "...Maybe... maybe your best isn't the best out of anyone's bests, but it's the effort that counts." He rubbed the back of his neck, then let out a mono-syllabic laugh. "ScheiĂe, did that make sense? Sorryâ I'm not good with wordsâ"
You glanced away. "âHey," his hand reached to hold to side of your face. "Look at me, King."
"You're not weak, not pathetic, not useless," he repeated, voice wavering.
"You're none of those. You're better than you think you are. Your inner strength," a finger pointed at your chest, "your heart, it's so full of goodness. So full of so many good things that don't define you, but instead changed you for the better."
"Maybe... maybe you aren't the aren't the best, haven't been the best, or never will be the best, but it's not your fault. You try so hard, and the odds... the odds are stacked against you. And, sometimes... sometimes it's okay to not be the best. You don't have to be fearless, the strongest, perfect. You can just be... you."
His eyes were pleading in the dark. "Please don't doubt yourself. You're soâ so much better than you imagine."
A shaky breath. "So much stronger than you tell yourself. I can promise you, you are your own person. Other people's successes don't define you."
König turned around to glance at his alarm. 2:36.
When he turned back, your face had slowly regained the colour on your cheeks, eyes sparkled, chest rose and fall at a steady pace. You said nothing, yet König knew you listened to every one of his words.
"Looks like it's too late for you to fall asleep in your own room," he whispered, gently caressing your face. "Stay here with me, King."
Eyes immediately widening in surprise, you were about to protest. "B-butâ I couldn't possibly, Königâ"
That protest died on your lips as König's arms engulfed you again, and brought you down against his mattress so you were laying on his chest. Cocooned like a protective blanket over you, you didn't need him to say anything more. You felt so... safe. Loved.
The storm outside seemed to calm down, and lightning no longer crashed against the window. Rain faltered, and some clouds were separating in the darkness of the sky.
Before you knew it, your eyelids became heavy with drowsiness, feeling a wave of calm wash over you, cleansing away your sorrows.
Just before you fell asleep, you heard König say something in German, barely above a whisper, but you did not understand:
"Schlaf gut Schatz. Ich liebe dich."
...
I don't know who needed to hear that, or if anyone even did, but I stand by the words I wrote. Although you are reading this, and are likely a stranger, and I'll never face you in real life, I want you to know that you *are* good enough. And if it takes a person on the internet using a fictional character to tell you so, then so be it. You are still valid. đ«

Golden Hearts Bleed Faster
bagginshield | modern royalty/bodyguard au | teen+
Bilbo Baggins, Prince of the Shire, has been left with a kingdom on his back and a ring in his hand after the unexpected death of his parents. Bodyguard Thorin Oakenshield has been brought in to see to the princeâs safety, and do a little investigating of his own on the matter in hopes of coming face to face with the one who turned his mountain, and his life, upside down some years prior.
Chapter 3
âYouâre welcome to cozy up with me in the reading nook if you get bored,â Bilbo hummed playfully, flashing a grin and twirling his fork between his fingers. âI tell great stories that may even captivate you, Mister Oakenshield.â
âFairytales of trolls and dwarves?â Thorin drawled, rolling his eyes and letting the sultry pass that came his way pass him by. Not to say it didnât illuminate that small dose of warmth to his cheeks even more. âRain check.â Gesturing to the window at the pitter-patter of actual rain to accompany his words, Thorin was grateful their chatty breakfast had fallen to silence, just as it usually did. A little banter, and sometimes nothing at all. It was comfortable, to a certain extent.
This was still a job, and no matter how cozy or domestic it felt, Thorin was keeping everyone and everything at a professional, armâs length, distance.

Hello, I saw that you are open for some requests. May I request some platonic drabble for Dazai, in a story where Dazai and reader taking care of a stray kitten, reader is Dazai younger sibling
That is all, thank you and I hope you have a lovely day đ
ahhh this is such a cute idea omg-
dazai x gn! sibling! reader (platonic !)
â light & love â
â during his time in the port mafia, dazai had never really been apart of your life. i mean sure you knew your brother existed, you had spent some time together but, since joining the port mafia you had barely seen him.
â recently however, dazai had been reaching out, something to do with a ânew jobâ. it was weird to see your older brother after so long but it wasnât unwelcome.
â over the course of a few weeks dazai and you had become a lot closer, similarly to how you were as children but, it was clear he had changed. you may not be as close as you used too but, you could still tell when he was hiding behind his fake joy.
ây/nnnnn! look! i got you and i some of the finest coffee this cafe has to offerâ the taller man offered a smile to you before placing the cup of steaming coffee infront of you.
âdid you actually pay for this osamu? or did you steal your coworkerâs card again?â you asked inquisitively, raising an eyebrow towards your âdearâ brother.
he let out a loud gasp at the notion. he always did have such a flair for the dramatic huh?
âhow dare you assume i would do such a thingâ he raised a hand to his chest in mock offence, âthis is an outrage, my own sibling, my own flesh and blood, doesnât believe iâd do something so nice for themâ he stared up at you, âjust for that, youâre paying next timeâ
ââŠâ
âso you did take his card then, yeah?â
â while you and dazai had definitely become closer, you didnât trust eachother fully.
â however, that all changed one stormy night.
â you had never enjoyed walking down the streets of yokohama, after all this city was extremely dangerous, especially at night
â thatâs when you heard it.
â a soft âpitterâ âpatterâ behind you, at first you thought it was the rain until, you felt a small prickly feeling across your legs
â there, by your feet, stood the cutest, smallest little kitten youâd ever seen.
â her fur was soaked from all the rain and her little eyes were big and rounded as they stared right up at you, almost begging
â how could you refuse?
â carefully you scooped up the seemingly stray kitten and began towards your apartment until you remembered..
â your landlord doesnât allow pets-
â youâd be kicked out in an instant if he ever saw the little guy
â you couldnât just leave her here, i mean she could get hurt really bad or get sick from the cold, itâd be cruel! but, you had no where to take her-
â now wait a damn minute. didnât dazai say his neighbours dog had been âscreaming bloody murder all fucking nightâ? if his neighbour had a loud dog, then..
â his building allows pets!!
â but, would he even want to help you with this? i mean he is the one who lives there, he might not want a kitten running around
â it was too late now though, the poor baby was gonna get a cold and you were already on your way to his apartment building
â if only you knew what you was getting yourself into..
ââSAMU! NO! SHE CANT EAT THAT!â you had said that line atleast 80 times in this past week. osamu had been more than happy to help you out with your new little friend, turns out your ex-mafiaso brother had a big soft spot for cats. how purrfect!
(iâm sorry, i couldnât resistđ„Č)
that night, âsamu and you had bathed and dried that little kitten along with feeding her until she passed out on osamuâs futon.
you had then proceeded to spend the next 2 hours arguing about what to call her and trying to convince âsamu that âsuicideâ, âpoisonâ & ânooseâ were not appropriate names for a kitten.
â you had never felt so happy before
â you had your brother back, even if you refused to admit it, you had missed him tremendously
â your trust in eachother had strengthened over the years as you two continued to take care of your little kitten
â dazai still housed her in his apartment but pretty soon youâd move to his building to be closer to her (and your brother but, youâd never admit that to him)
â yaâll had become a happy little family
â you, dazai and himari
a/n ! - this was adorable omgnskskwkodow, thank you so much for the request this was a lot of fun to write! it was just what i needed after my test so yk-
also from what i found (on google lol) himari means sun or light and love (hence the name of the story) i just thought it was cute considering how dazai doesnât really think heâs truly deserving of love and how light/ the sun is usually related to good and kind people which dazai would definitely not see himself as (cause he isnt #dazaislander) - anyway i just wanted to add that cause i thought is was cute!

Falling like rain
A/N: Requested by @shakespeareanwannabe đFun fact: I wrote this on what happened to be a really rainy day, which might have been better if I had Steven beside me, really. Still, I really hope you enjoy it!
@flufftober - Day 8 Rainy Day
Pairing: Steven Grant x gn!reader
Word count: 942 words
CW: alcohol consumption
Flufftober masterlist
In theory, a picnic at the park was the perfect date Steven could have thought of; in practice, as he now knows, rain could always come around and ruin his plans. It had been raining since the early morning log enough to ruin your afternoon plans. He had everything ready since the night before, and now his basket, containing the snacks, wine, and the blanket he had already packed seemed to be mocking him from the kitchen table as the droplets of rain that crashed against the window boomed in his head.
âIt says is going to be raining all day. Ugh, Iâm so sorry. Iâm such an idiot.â
âHey, no! Youâre not an idiot. It was perfectly sunny yesterday, who wouldâve known.â Your voice tranquilized him over the phone, even though it sounded as sad as his. Steven mumbled some confirmation but still scolded himself inside his head. âMaybe next week?â
Next week? He had waited for a whole week already, how was he supposed to let one more go by to see you? Trying to find a solution somewhere, he looked around his apartment as he rambled about hoping to see you today. âListen why donât you- uh- come over? And uh-â He felt himself getting distracted as his brain began working on a plan.
âSteven? Everything alright?â You spoke after a beat of silence.
âYeah, yes! Can you come over?â As if playing against him, the sky rumbled with thunder. His face scrunched, hoping you somehow hadnât heard it. What he did hear though, was the sigh you let out with his name on it. âIâll make it up to you, love. I promise.â
âOkay, but if I drown out there-â
âIâll get a boat and find you.â You shared a laugh over the phone.
âIâll be there in an hour.â Without another word, you hung up. An hour, he could make it work.
đđ
You had been pacing up and down the hall outside of Stevenâs apartment for a good 15 minutes. His head had popped out of the door when you arrived asking you for 10 more minutes, what for you had no idea, but between the rain you had to endure and the always-cold air of his building, you were about to throw the door down and get inside once and for all.
Just when you were about to knock again, demanding to be let inside, the door flung open and your annoyance was gone. The floor of his reading nook beside the window was now covered in fuzzy blankets and cushions, and as you approached it slowly you could see the full picnic he had planned was now displayed in the floor of his loft, lighted by the couple of candles you had bought him and fairy lights hanging between bookshelves.
âI know I said I was going to show you the constellations, but I figured this could work for now.â He spoke softly, behind you, waiting for you to react. âYâlike it?â
âSteven⊠this is beautiful.â Your hand reached for him and he took it, standing before you to rub your arms up and down and take away the cold from your body. He shouldâve known the smile he had was enough. He closed the distance with a kiss that gave you the warmth you were lacking, welcoming you to the picnic he had prepared for you.
The rain outside didnât seem so bad now, as you got comfortable between all the blankets he had put out you even found comfort in the pitter-patter that came from the window. Taking a look around you could see all your favorite snacks: cheese, crackers, grapes, and chocolates, and anything else you could have craved; Steven had thought of every little detail, of every little thing you may want, and the simple thought of it was enough to warm up your heart.
Steven poured a glass of wine for each of you and you clinked glasses to a romantic evening, the rain outside created a soothing companion to your date. âI promised you constellations too, didnât I?â It was no surprise that, in the middle of your cozy blanket fort, Steven pulled out a book that read Stars on the cover.
You laughed incredulously at his readiness. âI think you did.â You leaned into him, eager to hear the promised story he saved just for you about the goddess of all the stars, holding the sky between his hands as he expertly showed you every star he knew.
Hours passed by, and it seemed like time had stopped within your little star-filled nook. It had probably been the wine that made you both lay side by side on the floor, hands entwined between your bodies, and simply looking up at the stars he had recreated on the ceiling and your other hand tracing the imaginary lines between the stars with your finger as you recounted the legends he had told you before.Â
Eventually, Steven turned on his side to look at you, looking deeply into your eyes. "I hope this makes up for it," he said softly.Â
You smiled and leaned in to kiss him. "It's more than I could have ever asked for," you replied, your heart filled with warmth and affection, reaching again to kiss him slowly, tasting the wine on him, even more intoxicating than it was straight from the bottle. At that moment, surrounded by the twinkle of the stars he hung inside and the distant sounds of the storm, you discovered that what you felt for each other was enough to create your own perfect world, even when the weather had other plans.

coming out of my cage to post for robstar week (@robxstar) because i recently rewatched teen titans and i love robstar so bad. wasn't feeling very creative and they just helped me write some lil fun self-indulgent things đ now i can share with all of you
day 1 - friends to lovers
she's the tear in my heart
It wasnât long after the completion of the Tower that the roof became their spot.
Robin loved to watch the sunset over the bay and Starfire found freedom in the star speckled sky.
The first few nights, when they were just beginning to understand how to coexist with each other heâd always find her staring up at the sky late into the night. He wondered if she missed being part of the greater universe, flying past galaxies and spinning through the vastness that both terrified and humbled him.
He didnât have to ask if she was missing home.
There was a deep longing, a sadness that shimmered in the shadows of her eyes, one that even the brightest smile couldnât chase away.Â
These days she calls Earth her home and Robinâs never been more thankful to exist in the same place as someone else.
âHey,â he smiles, finding her knees tucked up to her chest right on the edge where she always is.
âHi.â She returns the smile, warm and soft and something that is just for him.
It makes his heart beat harder, a traitorous pitter patter heâs long given up the fight to stop. Batman taught him a lot of things, but never how to defeat a hunger that runs so deep that he feels the ache in his bones. How to unwant someone because being with them isnât something youâre allowed to have.
He takes his place next to her, touching as much as possible; a searing line of heat from shoulder to hip bone.Â
Thereâs a steady hum beneath his skin that wants and wants and wants.
Itâs late or, really, just very early. Dawn will be breaking over the city soon, their horizon one of the last to see the sun rising in the sky.Â
âYou know,â Starfire says quietly, âit has been a year since we all met.â
Robin knows and not just because they all agreed to celebrate the anniversary of forming the Titans and their friendship. He will never forget that fateful day. As much as he hates to admit it, he was a little lost in the shadow of Batman, needing to set off on his own. New town and a new start.
He wasn't expecting to find his family.
Or the love of his life.
But he keeps that close to his chest; locked up tight with no chance of seeing daylight.
âBest day of my life.â Robin admits.
He can hardly stop himself from admitting deeper truths when Starfire is by his side. She tilts her head, hair falling over her shoulder as she eyes him curiously.
âOkay.â Robin laughs, âmaybe best is a weird way to describe it, but I got to meet all of you, and Iâm honestly not sure where I would be if we hadnât.â
Probably in the depths of Sladeâs clutches, destroying a city instead of saving it.
âI have also thought about that.â Starfire says, her gaze back on the sky.
A coil white hot and wicked slithers through Robinâs ribcage. He doesnât have to ask to know what sheâs imagining. The Citadel. Heâll never forget the way she said prize as if her agency didnât matter.Â
As if Starfire didnât matter.
A royal princess that paid the ultimate price; sacrificing her freedom for her planet and people. She was starved and restrained, terrified out of her mind because of the horrors that awaited her. It still makes Robin sick to his stomach.Â
Without thinking he presses closer and Starfire unwinds, letting her legs dangle off the edge of the tower as she takes up the space Robin offers her.
âI do not often have nightmares anymore of what could have been,â she says quietly, âbut I suppose on such occasions it is not a surprise.â
Robin takes her hand, the need to touch and comfort too great. Something in his skin settles when her fingers lace between his own.
âYouâre safe,â he reminds her. âYouâre here, with us, and I wonât ever let anything happen to you.â
âI know.â
Robin can see the depths of green in her eyes, like an old growth forest with flecks of gold. Her gaze is heavy â honest â and Robinâs breath catches in his throat. Heâs never known someone to have so much faith in him, despite his flaws and limitations and everything heâs done, Starfire believes in him.Â
He imagines sliding his hand to cup her cheek, slotting their mouths together like they were made to fit, because Robin knows they were.Â
 Not yet
Starfireâs knowing smile relieves some of the guilt and ache in his chest. He owes her so much and maybe one day he can return the favor.
âI believe we saved each other that day,â she squeezes his hand, thumb brushing gently over Robinâs skin.
I love you, Robin thinks unbidden.
âYeah,â he swallows, choking back the swell of emotions, like the waves of a tsunami being sucked back out to sea, âwe did.â
The sun catches over the tower, the water shimmering with the promise of a new day.
âIf I recall,â Starfire says lightly, âI promised Cyborg that I would help make his famous three layer cake for our celebration today.â
âStarting at dawn?â Robin laughs as they stand up, hands still clasped together.
Starfire starts to say something, but a loud crashing sound from the kitchen answers Robinâs question. Itâs followed by a string of curses causing Robin and Starfire to fall into each other laughing.Â
âCome,â Starfire says as she tugs him towards the door, âI believe Cyborg is in need of rescuing.â
Robin just smiles fondly as she leads him back into the tower, counting down the seconds to when he never has to let go.

Aaahhhh! Oh my god! I love the way you drew underfell sans in your recent post! He looks so very handsome. And the outfit your character is in is stunning as well. Your art style is just so amazing and it blows me away every time. But I have a question. Who is your absolute favorite Sans to draw?
Sjsjdid thank you so much! Means a lot to hear that.
Ngl it constantly changes, I did draw Error a TON before any of the others. But seems right now I'm stuck on Big Red.
His personality and dynamic with Motti is just as much fun. I just love a tough guy who's good to his partner.

HERE IT IS đđ» THE MOMENT LONG AWAITED
Cyare Verd
*OC Raven x Hunter
A/N: Welcome back! I apologize for taking so long but âđŒ I edited my original story up to the fourth chapter only to decide I still didnât like it so guess what I edited the same four chapters again đ
Iâll start by saying, yes it still follows the season two storyline of The Bad Batch (unoriginal I know) but I did change it up quite a bit. If your looking for Omega (lol) shes gone đđŒ I was never a huge fan of her so I wrote her out đ«Ł otherwise, I hope you enjoy the new version of my fic. I will be taking it off Wattpad and AO3 in the meantime so I can finish making edits.
Oh, one last thing. If you would like to be tagged please drop a comment or send me a message âșïž Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking time out of your day to read this. It means the world to me.
Anyways. Without further ado đ€Čđ» I present to you my updated fic đ
Prologue/Background
Raven (If you see this. Itâs the Pov for the following)
âBefore order 66 went down, I spent my time on Kamino training new batches of clones for the Grand Army of the Republic. I met many of the troopers who lived there during the time including Sargent Hunter of the infamous Clone Force 99. Our interactions were usually quite brief but there was a certain charm about him I enjoyed from our very first encounter. However, I was there to perform my duty to my clan and that always came first.
âIt was an honor to continue the legacy my father - Kal Skirata - left behind. He and my brothers - the Null ARCâs - have been off trying to thwart a plot they didnât realize would lead to order 66.
âDuring that time, KalâBuir had asked that I stay on Kamino not only for intel but also to get out any defecting troopers.
A friend of mine, who is another Mandalorian by the name of Aspen, posed as a supply ship for myself. She would drop off supplies or bring me an array of random items I asked for to validate her being there. Aspen would then smuggle troopers to Mandalore where they were to live out their days as they wished. A part of our clan. Clan Skirata.
When order 66 did finally happen, my brother Ordo had warned me to prepare for something big that would be happening soon. Whether or not he knew exactly what Iâll never know.
For the first few days, I lingered on Kamino waiting for any one of my brothers or KalâBuir to contact me but it didnât come. About a week later a droid appeared in my quarters with a message. âGet out now. Youâre in danger Senâika (little bird).â KalâBuir was the only one who ever called me Senâika - mostly because I hated it but he could get away with anything.
Shortly thereafter, I packed my things discreetly and called for Aspen. She came within a rotation claiming the usual - that she was here to deliver supplies for me - and to my surprise they let her in.
The minute I was on her ship, the two of us left. We ended up on the planet in the mid rim. Where Ord Mantell became our temporary home.
Chapter One: Cidâs Parlor
Raven
Standing out in the busy streets of Ord Mantell, the sun beats down on my beskar fighting the darkness that rests on my shoulders. I will my feet to move itâs as if this weight is too much for them to carry.
My irritation radiates off me as the thunderous pitter patter pounds in my head each time a citizen passes by - must be nice to live so carefree - I think to myself. Yet they pay me no mind, even though the very nature of my armor is intimidating.
The dull black shein of a well-worn helmet that sits upon my head, with the infamous T shaped visor. The rest of the plates are the same color with a few iridescent feathers poking out from underneath. Ironic right.
This armor is my pride and joy. It was a coming of age gift - if that's what you want to call it - from my father. KalâBuir was by far one of the greatest Mandalorians in the history of our people - though my opinion might be biased.
A wave of sadness washes over me at the thought of him, my family, my brothers, and my best friend Aspen. Shaking the thoughts from my mind I tell myself they wouldnât want me to sulk. Aspen would smack me if she were here. Unfortunately, the two of us had to go our separate ways after getting into some trouble. What else is new?
Aspen has always been the friend I can count on for anything. We met as kids on Mandalore and practically grew up together. Once we were old enough, the two of us would drink - a little too much - and run our mouths. Sometimes Iâd come home with a black eye and KalâBuir would say âI hope the other guy looks worseâ. With a osik (shit) eating grin he knew I could handle myself.
Eventually that trouble caught up to us. When I had been on Ord Mantell before, she and I got into it with a group of mercâs and Cid saved our skin. Usually I didnât pick fights we couldnât win but that time I did.
That was just after our home was bombed by the Empire. My family. My clan was there as far as I know. Rumor has it the surface is no longer safe. The blast destroyed everything and killed everyone. Grief does funny things to people.
Since then Cid feels we owe her every time she calls. Aspen was smart enough to ignore her but I canât leave business unfinished. I donât like owing people anything.
Bitterness courses through my veins and I find my feet moving through the doorway.
Hunter
Cid's Parlor is loud and crowded - as usual. Which for enhanced senses is why I prefer the solitude of the ship. Letâs not even get into the stench of hot bodies and alcohol might put me over the edge.
I take a deep breath to steady myself and push out the overwhelming sounds and smells, in an attempt to tune back into my brother's conversation. Echo and I were discussing whether or not the Marauder needs maintenance. Which is true it does. However, we donât have the credits.
One glance over at Wrecker and its obvious Tech is beating him - again - at dejarik.
With a sigh and a gentle swirl of the pint in my hand, I watch as the amber liquid spins like a world pool. The sickly-sweet smell of blood orange and yeast reaches my nose. I let myself get lost in it for a moment, the scent totally washing over me.
The weight of the things we have had to endure begins creeping in. My men. Their safety and well-being are my responsibility. Crosshair.
Before Iâm sucked too far into the void, my senses pick up something that wasnât there a moment ago. Dark, sweet raspberry, rose. Iâd recognize that scent anywhere after the hours Iâd spent committing it to memory.
Lifting my gaze from my glass, itâs pulled like a force of gravity as a Mandalorian female enters the parlor. A warmth washes over me mixed with a little relief at seeing that all too familiar T-visor. I canât contain the shock that creeps on my face at her presence or the memoryâ
âAlright everyone, today we go over the basics.â Her voice is crisp but not cold, giving orders and yetâŠsilky smooth. I could listen to her speak to the regs all day.
She continues barking out orders which I recognize as the basics for hand-to-hand combat. I stop listening about half way through just to commit her to memory.
Covered head to toe in dark black beskar, her visor drifts over the group of men before her. The small frame is quite a contrast to the 6ft Clone troopers in formation. She has such a commanding presence, exuding confidence. My eyes roam over her curves and stop at the dual westar -35âs attached to either side of her thighs. For a moment I swear my heart might leap out of my chestâ
Raven Skirata.
My trousers suddenly become constricting forcing me to shift uncomfortably. We only ever ran into one another a few times on Kamino. Mostly casual conversation about war efforts. The sound of her laugh when I told her about some of the things weâd improvised on missions, is one my brain never lets me forget. I never did get the courage to ask her about herself.
Raven crosses over to the bar and my eyes follow her every move. Itâs only now that I notice sheâs skinnier than I remember. Her complexion is quite pale in comparison to the dark circles under her eyes. The sight causes my chest to tighten. What the hell happened?
"Long time no see. I was starting to think you wised up" the Twi-lek bartender says by way of greeting. There's a long pause as the Raven drops her shoulders considerably.
"Unfortunately, I'm a little low on rations to be wise" she shoots back, that silky smooth voice taking on a sarcastic tone.
Having caught the attention of a rather large man - whose been talking loud enough for everyone in here to hear - he leans over to speak to her.
"Wow, that must be real beskar.......Wonder what kind of price someone would pay for th-that...." He slurs a little at the end.
In one smooth motion, Raven ejects her vibro-blade from her vambrace - the steel practically sings - slamming his head into the bar top with the other hand. A loud thud follows. Some of the patrons stop talking to stare while the Twi-lek laughs.
Pressing her blade to his throat she leans in close she sneers, "Try to take it from me and I'll find out how much someone will pay for your head.â
The man proceeds to mumble and she cocks her head at the bar tender as if in annoyance. Letting go of the man he slumps to his knees before getting up and stumbling away, hand pressed to his temple.
I have to work had to suppress the smile that threatens to creep onto my face, the corner of my mouth twitches anyways.
"Don't mess with Mandalorians" Echo chuckles, drawing attention. Raven glances our way tensing. Mentally I command myself to look away but I canât. For a moment I swear, even through her visor we make eye contact.
Raven
After Iâm satisfied Iâve put this man in his place, I let go and he slumps to the floor. Comments fly from over my shoulder but thereâs that voice Iâve heard thousands of times that stands out.
I canât help but turn and that when I see them. The red and white plastoid. Thanking my ancestors for the helmet, I roll my eyes at just how ironic it is they are here. Sargent Hunter and the Bad Batch. He and I have spoken a few times on Kamino but the others Iâve never officially met.
Frozen in place, I stare for a second. The Sargent doesnât take his eyes off me with an unreadable expression. If Iâm lucky he wonât recognize me - I think to myself. Forcing myself to move, I turn back to the bartender with a finger in the air, signaling Iâd like a shot.
My gloved hands make their way to my helmet and gently slide it off, letting my messy blonde braid at the back of my head fall. Lately I find myself caring less and less about what I look like.
Placing my helmet on the bar top, I take a breath to steady myself before taking the shot. The burning liquid a welcomed punishment if nothing else.
The bartender nods over my shoulder and I sign knowing what's coming.
"Aren't you a sight for sore eyes" Cid says, throwing an arm over me like we are old pals.
I roll my hazel eyes "I'm not here because I want to be. Lets get on with it" I grumble.
"No 'Hi Cid, how are you?'" She asks.
"Nar'sheb (shove it)" I say in my native tongue with a polite smile on my face. She has no idea what I said to her but there's a snicker from someone close by.
ââââ
"Remember what happened last time you threw your attitude around like that? " Cid scolds me as we enter her office.
Picking dust off my flight suit I sass, "I'm not here to discuss my 'attitude'. What's the mission?"
Cid moves behind her desk and crosses her arms "Fine, I need you to help out a group of fine gentlemen." She starts to explain, her tone a little too...chipper.
I raise a brow, shifting my weight and hum my dissatisfaction.
Cid immediately gets defensive, âLook itâs not my fault you mandos like to find trouble. Youâre just lucky I was there to bail you out. Besides, these guys could really use someone with your skills. Dooku's private stash is being relocated by the Empire and I want you to help them get as much as possible".
The fact that she said Empire had my attention and attitude immediately shifts.
"I thought you might like that and I promise I'll give you 20%" she continues noticing my mood lighten.
"30 and it's a deal" I counter.
"Hey! I gotta pay those other guys too. I feel I'm being quite generous.â
I guess for considering who Iâm speaking with⊠"Fine 20%, Now who are these guys?"
"They call themselves the Bad Batch. Wait here I'll go get them" she doesnât give me a chance to respond before she heads out the door.
For a moment I stay where she left me and contemplate my next move. I can either play it like I donât know them and take the chance their Sargent will recognize me orâŠ
With an annoyed sigh, I stride over to her desk and set my helmet down before scanning the book shelves. Most of these Iâve read during my âspare timeâ when Cid let me crash here before. Not surprisingly, thereâs nothing new.
Leaning my back against one I take my gloves off and unbraid my hair. The blonde waves fall loosely over one shoulder ending just below my breast. Itâs a wonder I ever let it get this long but a part of me just canât bring myself to cut it.
I make myself comfortable at her desk, leaning back and kicking my boots up on it, When Cid flings the door open and scowls at me. My stomach ties itself into knots but I try to seem disinterested by playing with my hair.
Thereâs a chance these guys decided like the others to side with the Empire. But the odds they did and they are here? Slim but not zero.
Pushing off the desk I stand and stroll around to the front, leaning against it. A few golden strands fall into my face with the movement. My hands naturally side down towards my blasters holstered at my sides. A defense position thatâs become muscle memory. The Sargent eyes follow my every move.
"Take it easy there Mando these are the good guys."
Cid rolls her eyes after seeing my body language. Once again in typical Cid fashion she hid this from me, likely knowing I wouldnât come.
The largest one of the 4 pushes past.
"I'm Wrecker! I like to blow stuff up!" He says very loudly, sticking out his hand. My body is further tensing.
I hesitantly shake his hand, which compared to mine - even with gloves on - looks like it could easily crush it.
"Wrecker, I feel that last part was not necessary" says the one holding a datapad.
"I am Tech by the way.â
Nodding by way of greeting, I quickly glance over at their Sargent. Had I blinked I would have missed the split second of recognition before the mask of a leader slid into place.
The one with a socket arm glances over at him. Probably from the tension radiating off of me. Those amber eyes see me for exactly who I am.
My breathing picks up, but I quickly get it back under control. The former doesnât seem to notice, not taking his eyes off me.
I decide to meet his gaze with a challenging one. Hoping to hide whatever it is he sees.
Shaking his head like heâs having a difficult time dragging himself from thought, introduces himself.
âI'm their Sargent-well was their Sargent...Hunter and this is Echo" he gestures to socket arm.
Echo waves at me with his socket and a soft smile. I nod slowly and clear my throat.
âI know who you are.â
Tech lifts his eyes from his datapad to look at me once again. Before he or anyone else can I say anything I continue,
âRaven. Raven Skirata.â
ââââ
When I start towards my ship - alright so it's not really my ship, I stole it - I was so deep in thought I almost didnât hear someone call out to me.
"Wouldn't it just be easier if we all went together?"
I stop not bothering to turn around "How do I know you won't leave me behind?"
If these are the clones Iâve heard so much about, thereâs a good chance I can trust them. However, my instincts are telling me not to. Echo, almost like he is reading my mind says,
"You can trust us, we aren't like the others".
The sorrow in his voice fills the space between us, making me uncomfortable. I roll my shoulders, hands flexing at my sides.
Without saying anything I head up the ramp to my ship, gather a few things in my pack, and come back out to see Echo standing where I left him. The rest of the group must have gone to their ship. With a small nod he leads the way.
As we approach, I stop for a moment before heading up the ramp to admire the hull before me. An Omicron class attack shuttle but itâs been modified. Itâs just as impressive if not more so in person. My brothers - specifically Mereel and Jaing - would have loved this thing, I can practically hear them fighting with even Ordo for who would pilot.
With a few steps up the ramp, I peer inside and itâs notably clean. Briefly I take in the surroundings noting the others up front in the cockpit area. Echo glances back at me sensing my hesitation.
âIâll show you aroundâ
I tip my visor towards him appreciatively, without saying a word.
ââââ
Echo finishes the tour with the bunks, two on the left and two on the right. He gestures to the right, showing me which one is mine and offers me a gentle smile. With a quick glance I realize there are only 4 of them.
âHunter usually stays up in the cockpit. You get his bunk.â
Great.
I nod my appreciation again and take my pack off my shoulder. The only things in it are a couple changes of regular clothes and some rations. I've not got much to lose that isn't my beskar these days.
Placing my pack on the lower bunk, the mythosaur skull on the back of my gloves stare back at me with hollow eyes. Itâs almost like they know. Our people are gone. For a moment I wonder if anyone will even remember what it means.
I forgot Echo was still standing there until his throat clears. He says carefully, âYour father is Kal Skirata.â
My heart starts to thunder in my chest at the mention of his name. I finish settling my pack before I turn to face him. A part of me wants to answer but it feels like my mouth is full of cotton. I mentally thank my ancestors for the visor between us.
âHe was one of my instructors. In my early days I mean. He was always really good to us. I heard about what he did...he got some of us out.â
Silence fills the space. I slide my helmet off, tucking it under an arm. Unable to look him in the eye, my boots seemingly interesting all the sudden.
âHeâs gone.â My voice almost doesnât sound like my own. Distant.
âToo many good people have been lost because of the war. Iâm sorry to hear that.â
In his kind words, the galaxy feels a little less lonely. I finally lift my head and meet his gaze, seeing the loss there.
âIâm sorry for your loss too.â
Echo only offers me a somber smile in response. My walls go back up and I decide to change the subject. It comes out a little sassier than I had intended.
âSo, you all have enhanced something or other right? I mean I was on Kamino and spoke to your Sargent a few times but mostly what I know is what Iâve heard.â
âEach of us had a unique quality. Wrecker is brute strength, Hunter has enhanced senses, and Tech is really smart.â
âWasnât there another member? Crosshair?â
Another sad look from him, âHe chose the Empire.â
âAhâ I nod my understanding. âHow do you fit in here?â
He rubs the back of his neck and chuckles.
âI was originally with the 501st under General Skywalker. We were on Skako minor and I was blown up. Captured by the Techno union and they made me mostly a machine.â Echo lifts his socket arm as a reference.
âMy Captain. Rex. He and the Bad Batch rescued me. I owe them everything.â
That name. Captain Rex. It sounds familiar. âNo offense but you just met me and you trust me enough to tell me all this?â My sass once more evident.
He smiles and says âYour father spoke highly of you.â
My throat closes up at the same time pride washes over me. When I donât respond he continues.
âIâll leave you to get settled inâ and with that he turns and heads toward the cockpit.
I watch as he reaches the others and takes a seat. Unable to do anything else other than process what he just said.
ââââ
It takes me a while to recover from the conversation. A part of me hesitates to comm Aspen but I canât risk compromising her.
Instead, I take my time to check my weapons (two blasters at my hip, vibro blade in my vambrace, and the various blades stashed in my boots and under my back plate). No one bothers to check on me, which is just as well. Finally, I end with checking the HUD in my helmet - which seems to be functioning fine.
Discarding my helmet on the bunk, I head for the cockpit where the others are chatting quietly. The hushed tones likely to prevent me from overhearing. Hunter stiffens as I approach which only confirms my thought.
The four seats at the front were taken up by each of the members. Leaning against the doorway I cross my arms over my chest plate.
"We don't have a reason to trust each other but once this mission is over and I'm paid, I'm gone. You won't have to worry after that.â The annoyance plastered on my face is visible to all.
They all glance at one another except Hunter, his eyes fixed on my face like heâs trying not to look anywhere else. He almost looks hurt at my comment.
"That seems reasonable" Tech says very matter of factly.
âGreat. So, what's the plan?â
âGet to Serenno and scout the area." Hunter says turning his attention to space zooming by at light speed.
I sigh, "That's not much of a plan but I can improvise."
Wrecker chimes in, âAhaha youâll fit right in!â Awkward silence fills the space before I break it.
âRight. Well I guess we should all rest up so let me know when we land.â Spinning on a heel, I head for the bunks.
Next Chapter here.

my secret santa gift for @square-braxket đđđ
On a dreary evening in the idyllic town of Sandford, Detectives Cartwright and Wainwright found themselves grappling with a perplexing case. The relentless rain drummed against the umbrella as they scoured the scene for clues. Wainwright, with his trademark cigarette, pored over the evidence with a furrowed brow, the wisps of smoke blending with the rain.
Amidst the downpour, Cartwright's concern for the case weighed heavily on his mind. He paced the dimly lit alley, his footsteps muffled by the rain, his thoughts consumed by the gravity of the investigation. The chilling rain mirrored the unease in his heart as he grappled with the intricacies of the case, each raindrop a poignant reminder of the urgency to unravel the mystery that had befallen their town.
As the night wore on, the pitter-patter of the rain served as a haunting backdrop to their relentless pursuit of the truth. Wainwright's cigarette burned like a lone beacon in the darkness, his focused demeanor a stark contrast to Cartwright's restless unease. Together, they braved the storm, their resolve unyielding amidst the downpour, determined to bring clarity to the shadowy enigma that had enshrouded their quaint town.In the heart of the tempest, amidst the haze of smoke and the deluge of rain, Detectives Cartwright and Wainwright stood as sentinels of justice, their unwavering dedication to the case unbroken by the tumultuous weather.
For in the face of adversity, they remained steadfast, their pursuit of truth unwavering, and their partnership unshakeable.

Every strangerâs glance toward Tanjiro makes your stomach sink as deep as the nearly setting sun.
âHave a great day, Kamado-san!â The all too cheerful young woman at the fruit stand sends him off with a few extra mandarins and a smile that makes your frown deepen. âYou too! Thank you!â
His response makes it worse, equally as cheerful, and the enemy that is your mind gradually fills in vile blanks for you. She could easily take your place, cut you out of your own life and fill in the spot like a collage. Your fist clenches at your side and Tanjiro finally reaches you, wrapping said clenched fist in his hand and squeezing it with a puzzled furrow of his brow.
âAre you okay?â
His words sound filtered, spoken through cotton while you bully yourself in your own head. Gradually working your hand open, he links his fingers with yours and you glance down at your tangled digits, withdrawing your own to let it hang at your side.
âHey,â he starts, placing a hand on your back to gently guide you away from the main thoroughfare of the market. The two of you have ducked into a narrow alleyway, the shadows of the buildings surrounding you mirroring the cold pit in your stomach. âYou donât have to talk if you donât want to but letâs take a moment to stand here.â
So kind, always. If you were in a better frame of mind youâd be grateful for him and that seemingly bottomless well of patience but right now it makes the pit grow wider. As badly as youâd like to keep your mouth shut until this passes, your emotion gets the better of you and you fold your arms over your chest.
âWhy do you have to smile like that at other people?â
Taken aback by your question, Tanjiroâs mouth opens and closes quickly, brow still furrowed in confusion. He didnât think he was overly friendly but the shake of your lower lip when you speak tells him that he made you feel bad, a frown on his face.
âIâm sorry beautiful,â he leans in toward you and reaches for your hand again, rubbing his thumb over the back of it and relishing in the feel of your skin against his.
You are the only one that he wants to smile at him. To sigh, to gently redirect or reprimand, to bathe together under the cool light of the moon. To laugh, to share pleasure, to create a family with.
He knows he could tell you all of this in words and he will later but for now, he settles on something different. Picking up your hand and gently maneuvering closer to you, he lifts your hand to the his mouth to kiss the back of it and then slowly slides it over his chest,
âYou feel that?â He uses his thumb to flatten your palm against where you know planes of hardened muscle and scars lie beneath his clothing, his heartbeat reverberating against your skin. âThat belongs to you.â
Whatever righteous fury existed in you dies with the soft pumping of his blood, the pitter patter of his heart causing yours to beat in response. Tanjiroâs soft smile further soothes you and he uses the gentle grasp of his hand atop yours to pull you against his chest, resting his chin on the top of your head.
âYou are mine and I am yours forever.â
He has said and demonstrated these words to you since the day he realized you love him as much as he loves you and the soft way you glance up at him makes him believe he may finally have convinced you that theyâre as true and honest as everything else about him is.
me looking at you after this blessing đ i love him so much i love YOUUUUUU đ«”đŸ so much cjfkfkkfgkkfđđđđđđđđđđ

âïžđ„Soft Mornings With Albert Blithe Moodboard + Headcanonâïžđ„
Gently running your fingers through Blithe's hair, feeling the soft strands glide through your fingers and Blithe giving hums of approval, enjoying the feeling of your touch and finding comfort in itđ
If it's raining in the morning, you two will just lay a little while longer in bed, Blithe and you enjoying the sounds of the pitter patter of rain on the windows, creating a soothing ambienceđ§
When you two are up and out of bed you make breakfast. The two of you take turns in making breakfast, so today it's your turnâïž
You start prepping the eggs and bacon for the frying pan, putting two slices of bread in the toaster, putting some coffee on and getting two glasses out for some orange juiceđ«đ„đł
As you prepare breakfast Blithe will wash up and will go outside to collect today's newspaperđ
Once breakfast is ready Blithe makes his way to the kitchen, newspaper tucked under his arm and followed by his adopted pitbull puppy "Biscuit"đ
Blithe preps a bowl of food for Biscuit and sits down to eat with you, casually reading the newspaper from time to time, but mostly making conversation with youđ
You'd smile and giggle when Biscuit comes up to Blithe and just sits by his feet, waiting for Blithe to give him a scrap of his breakfast. Blithe always gives him a few scraps of bacon, one time a full strip of bacon when Biscuit pulled the cutest puppy eyes and whined while pawing at Blithe's leg. He couldn't resistđ„șđ„đ
If it's a work day Blithe will get dressed and give you a sweet kiss and pat to Biscuit before heading out to work, leaving you to freshen up and go about your daily routine and take Biscuit for walkies. Then get dinner ready for when Blithe comes homeđâđŠș
But if it's a no work week or day, you would freshen up and usually join Blithe back in bed or on the couchđ
The two of you would either remain in your pjs or change into soft lounge wear to get super comfy. Have lo-fi music on in the background, cuddly blankets and pillows making a big nest of softness. Biscuit even gets in on it, knowing he'll get plenty of attention and love as always from both of youđ
You two would end up watching your favourite TV shows before starting on a new series, then ending up binge watching the whole first season of the new seriesđș
Usually having a movie or two after. Accompanied by some snacksđŹđ§đ„Ș
You two exchanging little kisses between you, making each other giggle when you two try the Eskimo kissđ
Soft Mornings with this cinnamon roll is just pure bliss and Blithe loves spending these mornings with the person he loves the mostđ Enjoy these moments with our Airborne soft boy Blitheđđđ
Hope you enjoy the moodboard and little headcanon with it! I haven't made a nice headcanon for my beloved Blithe in a while so I'm really happy to write this and make a little moodboardđ„°đ§Ą
Hope you all like it!đ„°
