ALBERT BLITHE - Lieutenant... sir, when I landed on D-Day, I found myself in a ditch all by myself. I fell asleep. I think it was, it was... airsickness pills they gave us. When I woke up, I didn't really... try to find my unit... to fight. I just... I just kinda stayed put.

i like how band of brothers shows the different ways soldiers react to/deal with the horrors of war.

when harry said that gen. taylor was going to send a whole division to help them in the invasion, george looked annoyed, while talbert looked anxious.

when the men were beating the replacement up, talbert was frustrated and angry, while george was calm, composed, and indifferent.

when the men were talking about their d-day experience, blithe looked disoriented and lost, while perconte seemed fine and unaffected, casually and proudly talking about the watches he stole from dead germans, "they're all ticking unlike their previous owners."

when they saw a dead german in front of them while they were marching, perconte looked unconcerned, stealing the german's watch, while blithe looked disturbed and was careful not to step on the body.

it goes to show that there is no one reaction or response to the war. the war affects soldiers in different ways.
